in general i'm a big fan of the homestuck classpect system reflecting each characters role in the story but i think the funniest one by far is vriska's being literally "person who steals the (spot)light" when her entire arc is trying to be the main character.

Started thinking about Kingdom Hearts character classpects and now that KH3 has given Sora a new aspect to fill I have honestly never had characters slot so cleanly into unique classes and aspects before. Enjoy my self indulgent mental experiment:
Sora - Rogue of Time (one who steals from time for the benefit of others)
Kairi - Muse of Space (one whose agency is denied but inspires the actions of others)
Riku - Seer of Life (one who benefits themselves with knowledge of life and uses it to guide)
Roxas - Heir of Heart (heir of identity/self/soul)
Xion - Sylph of Doom (one who heals for others through death/fate/doom)
Naminé- Thief of Mind (one who steals mind/thoughts/consequence)
Axel - Page of Blood (one who creates bonds/provides others with bonds and serves the bonds created)
Saïx - Lord of Void (one who has command over emptiness/commands the emptiness of others)
Vanitas - Witch of Rage (one who creates negativity/creates using negative emotions) OR Bard of Blood (one who invites destruction through bonds)
Ventus - Maid of Breath (one who provides freedom/confidence, one who tends to freedom/confidence)
Aqua - Knight of Hope (one who serves and protects hope/ideology)
Terra - Mage of Light (one who arms themselves through the pursuit of knowledge/one who is manipulated through their pursuit of knowledge)

an essay on my own trollsona because i need to organize my thoughts: The Essay
I used some quizzes and very few research so i could find out my classpect, true sign and lunar sway. My trollsona is 100% based off me, so this is like making an essay on myself. I'll excuse myself now for my mistakes, either it is in the english language or homestuck facts, since I'm not an expert in either and I'm just having fun!
His name is Hyadum Alnaht, and he is a TAURIES, thus making him a TIME BOUND PLAYER and a DERSE DREAMER, as well as, obviously, a BRONZE BLOOD.
HYADUM and ALNATH are both stars in the taurus constellation, and that's where I got his name from. According to hiveswaps own website, a BRONZE SIGN is generous, insecure, crave validation and are stubborn when they decide to do something. This applies to him a lot, since he settled to protect and serve his friends with his life if he needs to since the beggining of the game, and he doesn't change his mind for a while. Despite that, he's still not too brave, in fact it's very far from that.
As a HEIR, his arc is to SUBVERT LACK OF CHARACTER AND PROTECT PEOPLE USING/FROM HIS ASPECT, wich he does flawlessly. He subverts his lack of courage, security and even hate. Pre-game, he was so afraid that he couldn't even let himself feel pitch feelings for others. He is far from being a crybaby-trope, but he was at his worst while in ALTERNIA. He overcomes his fears in order to protect and stand up for his friends, wich he is very loyal too and would go to hell and back for. The problems is that he exaggerates and becomes devoted to them, and needs to learn how to balance his own health with the care for others. As the TIME PLAYER, his role is to cause the scratch and teleport past selves to important battles so he PROTECTS his friends from their time, that is running out, and protects them from bosses and creatures using his time powers. He mostly succeeds while doing so, since he is a HEIR OF TIME, and heirs tend to adapt to their aspects the most.
As a DERSE DREAMER, he was born a warrior, living in one of the lowest positions in the blood caste for a whole 3 sweeps, and needs to learn how to be the HERO he always wanted to become.
Because of his TIME BOUND NATURE, he has a fascination for HISTORY, specifically the MYTHOLOGICAL, as opposed to his fear of his very real FUTURE. His hive is a labyrinth, because of the MINOTAUR'S LABIRYNTH, and his lusus is a GRYPHON, part bird, part lion. The bird symbolizes his wish to fly and break free from his fears and The Fall Of Icarus. The lion symbolizes the courage he is going to earn.
His typing quirk is using << at the start of his messages, because it's the symbol to start over videos and generally go back, as he'd like to do. he also. types in. lower case. always. and. uses a. lot of. full stops. His emoticons are <<3 <:D <:(
His stereotype is a NERDY VIRGIN, the type of guy to listen and relate to weezer songs, you know.
Tumblr media
Some doodles of the guy in question! He's generally a really nice guy and I love him. Thank you for hearing my rambles!!
hyadum more like hyadumb

would lovelovelove to hear ur take on the rage aspect in general.
You've actually asked me about my favorite aspect and I will GLADLY take this opportunity to ramble about it (and, I suppose, touch a bit on its inverse as well). I actually wish I was this aspect instead sometimes; I present as very punk in my offline life and every Ragebound I've met has always been the most delightful company I've ever kept. (I suppose that might also be a very Heartbound thing to wish for, to be of another aspect...)
Of the twelve aspects, I will argue that Rage and Hope are the most commonly and grossly misunderstood. When they are flattened into one dimensional concepts, they are flattened into words that are not even in the realm of correct. Because of what we see in canon, Rage and Hope tend to get flattened into the "angry aspect" and the "positive aspect". These are incorrect understandings. Hope is about ideology and the systems built by them (such as government, or organized religion). Rage is about activism and digging out the truth. It is a very active aspect.
From The Extended Zodiac, I pulled these keywords from the Rage Aspect description. These would be the "canon" traits; they are what I adhere to when analyzing, but it should also be understood that this concept encompasses much more to do with than these keywords. Its "vibe", if you will, is much more than what is written.
TEZ Rage Keywords: Chaos, contempt, truth-seekers, doubters, stubborn, volatile, unpredictable, original, revolutionary, fearless, (cruel, uncompromising, vicious)
The words I chose to represent Rage in my analyses of the classpects are "Skepticism, Truth-seeking, Rebellion, Stubbornness". Like the other aspects, Rage is not an inherently good or bad aspect; it is neutral in its purest form.
Rage is what brings change. It is rebellion against unfair government systems, it is breaking free of internal biases, it is going out and finding the truth outside of the propaganda you have been fed. Rage aligns with punk very well, and I would be willing to argue that many of those in the punk subculture are Ragebound or know several Ragebound, and this is because to be punk is to rebel against wider societal views. You'll find many queer people in the punk subculture, for example, even if they are not Ragebound, because of how wider society views queer people.
Not all punks are Ragebound, and not all Rage is punk (though, much of it is). Rage is also activism. It is organized rallies and protests. It is essays that carefully deconstruct internal biases and point out what is and isn't propaganda. It is not believing what you are told about something because you'd rather get first hand experience or research it yourself than hear it from the mouth of anyone else.
I cannot speak of Gamzee and Kurloz as they are presented in canon, because... their characters were either written very messily or just not written at all. They are both destroyer classes, which tends to skew the understanding of an aspect as well. However, I would think that Gamzee and Kurloz's arcs, if written out with intentions of having them be properly developed as characters, would include becoming aware that their beliefs were built on faulty premises, turning against their cult beliefs, and tearing it down; using Rage to destroy what had (passively or actively) destroyed them.
(I would like to joke that Gamzee and Kurloz had to be written poorly. If they were ever written as a fully realized Bard of Rage or Prince of Rage, Homestuck would have been over the moment they accepted their true aspect and began using it to destroy the Condesce and Lord English. Those two classpects are particularly powerful.)

DN ask game: how about 18 and 23 (23 I will amend to 'one of your current favourite moments,' in case you are me and hate choosing favourites in any kind of absolute way haha)
CACKLES oh you know me so well =3=" original ask game
18. what do you think about Wammy’s House?
MY GOD. what do i NOT think about wammy's house. i feel like i've already talked a bit on wammy's house in Various Essays, but i suppose to coagulate some of those kinda random thoughts...
it Fucks those kids up. by nature of what wammy's house Is, i don't think it's possible for a single kid to get through it w/o getting at least a little fucked up. that goddamn orphanage is releasing a Storm of incredible messed up little geniuses on the world and the world will never recover. you can't create a fucking organization based around concepts like Live Up To The World's Greatest Detective or Never Ever Use Your Real Name (guess that's probably KIRA motivated, but still) without screwing over the sense of identity of an entire generation. nobody's doin it like them fr.
i really really really like the idea that people toss around about KIRA = god of the new world, therefore -> L = god of the old world, and i think wammy's house maps onto that idea super well as a kind of cult of the old god. something something greco-roman mystery cults, L as a void player homestuck classpect-wise, the Secrets and Idolization inherent to that entire entity. oh yeah it's all comin together rubs my hands eviley.
i saw someone say the LABB murders novel was bad the other day and almost cried because i personally Adore that book, for the additional naomi characterization + beyond moments yes, but also for the extra lore it establishes about wammy's and L more generally. having actual Generations within the house is so fucking fascinating by how you can break it down, especially when you try to fit L into it and maybe have a generation where he was interacting with the other kids during his kinda Rise to Power. i definitely think beyond and L interacted quite extensively at the very least (headcanon basis for that mostly, i just like the idea + it explains why he even got the idea to emulate him so closely), and the existence of A in and of itself is such a fascinating mystery, i love seeing how people mess with the idea of them in different ways.
also everyone go read heirs and spares for fantastic light-at-wammy's house content that almost reads like some of the best earliest parts of the promised neverland and also has some great L and light childhood worsties content. go go
also kira bless time speaks for writing that entire timeline where light and L go live at wammy's and traumatize mello w/ their horrible terrible flirting that is fucking saving me. i am so Desperate for more lawlight interacting with wammy's content i have no idea why that sets my brain off so bad but it Just Does. etc etc L negligent parent King for the win, i need to see near and L have the most horrible terrible psychological battles monologuing so loud it stinks up the entire damn room while mello and light are beating each other with bats in the background. please. lord.
also also roger's characterization in the seals are good series is unironically my accepted characterization for him now whoops. btw i don't think i have many Deep Thoughts on watari, he's kinda just a shitty old man philanthropist to me :/ though i do find him more interesting and Paternalistic with a good L genderbend.........
23. what was your favorite moment and why?
you said current favorite so honestly... ok i'll limit myself to two.
FAVORITE SCENE OF ALL TIME: LIGHT DYING. ez. specifically in the manga. there is legitimately no better scene in the entire series. this fucking panel haunts my dreams it's so goddamn Good
Tumblr media
there is nothing i love more in this world than watching light yagami bloody and pathetic crawling on the floor and begging for his life only to die like every other criminal he killed. his fear is so Palpable it literally makes me sick. i've read this final sequence, like ch.105-107 but especially this last bit so many goddamn times istg it's burned into my eyelids LIGHT YAGAMIIIIIIII. also his laugh in the anime is fucking incredible in both dubs 10/10 no notes you killed it fellas
FAVORITE SCENE AT THIS MOMENT: been thinking a Lot about both naomi and matsuda lately and their various notable scenes, oddly. i think i need to reread his entire comedy of errors during yotsuba again alskjfskjd and also check out naomi's death again esp in conjunction with LABB murder stuff?? idk. they're both characters that i feel i haven't talked much about (also kiyomi, thought i've been getting Thoughts on her LMFAO thank you forever @kiyomitakada) so i wanna get my image of them cleared up more in my head. also all of the SPK too, halle especially. damn i guess that's a whole lot of moments actually :P WHATEVER.
anyways ty for the ask <33

ok i am hearing a lot of similar responses to my previous posts so i may have jumped the gun in assuming just how much my followers already understand my thinking on the topic LOL. so let me go a bit deeper with this
i am familiar with the idea, as many of you have put forward, that a classpect is applied to a hero based on their personality, rather than something that is assigned at birth and determines their personality. i see obvious holes in this. there is no suggestion, for instance, that if a character grows and changes as a person, their class or aspect would change to fit their new personality. a common response i'm getting to this complaint is that sburb "just knows" who you will grow up to be, and assigns a classpect according to this prediction; but at this point i fail to see the practical difference between "sburb gives you a classpect at birth and you have to grow into that role" and "sburb knows what you will grow up to be and any timeline in which you fail to grow into this role will be deemed a doomed timeline". not only is the distinction purely philosophical, it's purely academic; we do not know, and will never know because we cannot know, whether dave strider was a "knight of time" from the moment of his birth, because homestuck is not concerned with this question of free will and determinism. homestuck is concerned with the fact that free will and determinism are NARRATIVES put forward by NARRATORS.
it is a mistake to think of sburb as impartial. i think it's a mistake to think of any concept as nebulous as ""the game"" as having any kind of sentience, or "knowing" anything at all, but that's another discussion entirely: the point is not that sburb is necessarily malevolent, or necessarily benign, but that is a machine designed for a particular purpose, and that all the mechanisms that make up that machine ultimately serve that purpose. and sburb's ultimate purpose is to tell a story! the idea of a young girl developing as a person to become a powerful seer of light, or realising her potential as an heir of breath, are deeply compelling NARRATIVES, and any label that "the game" assigns to one of its player is going to be in the interest of telling a compelling narrative. whether that narrative is actually "true" to the core of that person's self is inconsequential! and that's why i see sburb's class system and alternia's class system as fundamentally the same system, merely told by different narrators. where sburb uses the circumstances of your birth to generate a captivating RPG-style adventure populated by rogues and mages and witches, alternia is a world seized by a malevolent narrator only interested in telling the story that most efficiently leads to his birth; as such, rather than a "class" being something they grow into as they mature, a troll's "class" decides their place in the brutal hierarchy that runs the alternian machine.
i don't think it takes a particularly long or hard session of thought to realise "sburb knows best" as a justification for classpect realism is gross, and i think the comic is well aware that it's gross, because the relationships of expectation and control between children/characters and their parents/authors are one of homestuck's very frontal and central themes! being assigned a class and an aspect works within the context of a friendly game of sburb where a class and an aspect might help you to play the game. but the moment you start to believe that someone's class and aspect are in any way "truths" outside of that context, it becomes no different to pretending sollux and aradia's personalities and life trajectories are determined by the colour of their internal organs, even outside of the alternian society that enforces classes based on those colours; and most crucially, no different to a baby having a gender assigned to it on the day of its birth because its parents "just know" what the "right" gender for it might be in the future. even if that baby's parents could see into "the future", would it be fair to make that decision? even if the parents could see into every possible future for that baby, would it be their call to decide which futures for that baby are "doomed" and which one is the "right one"? it's all a matter of the narrative being told!
on an individual level, a parent rarely has ulterior motives in gendering their infant child, just as a hero is rarely assigned a class or aspect purely as a form of personal torture; but on the societal level, on the level of universe-spawning video games or galaxy-conquering lords of time, the gender binary is upheld because its perpetuation performs a crucial service to society, just as the caste system is upheld because it keeps the gears of empire oiled, just as the classpect system keeps the universe-spawning process as efficient as possible. that's what i mean when i say they're equivalent

now you, too, can name a goofy goober!
I am NOT gonna make it through writing Sburb Deluxe if i have to find an organic way to have everybody called by their chumhandle instead of their real name, so you, that's right, YOU can submit a name for one of the remaining twenty-one (21), that's right TWENTY-ONE (21) characters!
You don't even have to stick to the four-letter-name thing that I hate. If the classpect has "OPEN" next to it, it's yours!

jadekat & why i love it
jadekats this really interesting homestuck pairing to me! i feel like its because both jade & karkat are cool characters on their own, but their great strengths come with great flaws, and their dynamic balances out these flaws so well. it's a strangely underrated pairing too, considering jade is probably the character karkat most obviously flushes for in the comic, next to terezi. ill be explaining why i think this bond is so overlooked.
jade has a variety of strengths. as a witch of space, it makes sense. space is on a more grand level of intuition and clear knowledge on a vast amount of things, leading to space players sometimes not being able to explain the way things are in detail. this vastness also comes with a "wait-and-see" approach, as space is always growing organically, like an organism/plant. as a witch, jade followed through completing time loops with eagerness and a loss of wanting to know exactly why these loops must be fulfilled, simply believing things like fate knew what they were doing, and everything would come into order. shes also very well-versed in science, rifles, childhood cartoons, plants... she does everything she possibly can with the space around her, manipulating it (therefore "manipulating space") to her own will!
on a more characteristic standpoint, jade is socially isolated. shes nice to everyone she comes across (until theyre mean) but she has isolation problems. living on an island alone has made her used to having things done in her own methodical and scientific way, simply because thats the way she believes in. shes at a loss when it comes to chaotic, unorderly things like karkat's memos with his future/past selves! she just doesnt know how to handle it because she's only known how to be in tune with her own thoughts & feelings.
karkat is well-versed in the way relationships are supposed to go. he's watched an abundance of rom-coms and dealed with all his friends as a leader. it makes sense why he's so good at knowing how others feel and how to care for them. the problem is that he doesn't know how to outwardly express his own feelings or care at all. he doesn't know how to approach terezi without fighting with her, but still constantly pesters these people he likes with his angry, nonsensical ways.
when jade and karkat interact in the comic, it's confusing at first. karkat is constantly pestering jade at random intervals of time, and this ruins her ordered way of working around stuff. she develops these "conversation passwords", an intuitive way of staying on the same time track with the trolls. karkat is obviously angered by jade's action, but after realizing jade won't budge about it he goes along with it. in openbound, it's even revealed he used one of these conversation keys as a password for his own memories in a dream bubble!
in the memos with karkat's multiple selves, jade learns not everything can always be so orderly and clear, and this is very hard for her to stomach. she wants to quit dealing with it, but karkat's stubborness makes her deal with these messy, personal feelings.
in summary, jadekat's this great, balanced dynamic. jade teaches karkat to be more open and true to himself and his own feelings, while also getting him out of trouble with ridiculous things like future selves and all-over-the-time-loop conversations with clear solutions to get him back into the big picture. karkat teaches jade to consider the smaller details and how the more orderly paths can't constantly be taken to solve something.
this is all i have right now, i hope it makes sense!! i tried not to connect this to a lot of classpecting cuz i feel like jadekat's mainly about focusing on the very feelings of the characters (whether clear or messy) instead of just connecting them to a grander thing. lmk if u have any thoughts on jadekat or just jade/karkat in general ^_^!!

Space, Mind, and Void: Getting to Know Your Neighbors
Let's talk more about Space for a moment. (Can you tell I'm a little fixated on this Aspect right now?) Space is not just the Aspect of creation, visual arts, and literal space. It's also represented by the classical element of Water. (There are people out there who will tell you that Space is actually Earth, and Blood is Water. These people are wrong.) Space is "concerned with the big picture," sure, but what does that really mean? Strap in, because we're going to get a little bit ~conceptual.~ This Aspect is vast, essentially containing everything that is.
Tumblr media
If we look at its neighbors, Mind and Void, we can understand Space as their intersection. The universe is not a "conscious" entity in a way we as humans can relate to. After all, it is a frog. If you take the instinct of self-propagation and expand it out into a literal universe-sized organism, its methods of attaining that feat would look a lot like conscious choices from someone on our level of complexity, wouldn't they? Ask yourself this: does a person consciously tell their bodies to produce new cells? What about the reproductive cells responsible for new life? There are forces within the universe that have their own desires—and the players themselves are invaluable, as their cooperation and success provide the only way that a universe can propagate—but the Genesis Frog simply is.
The Genesis Frog "contains every single instance of the universe that is within him," which naturally includes every choice one could make. Unlike Mind, however, Space itself is largely unconcerned with causality. It is merely the stage upon which the play is set. So, Space and Mind aren't the same thing. Why, then, are they neighbors? Put simply, the domain of Mind is not restricted to the choices one makes. Mind is what allows us to conceive. It's what allows me to find patterns and relationships in Homestuck's cosmology and Classpect system, just as it allows you to come up with your own interpretations of the same. Concepts, ideas, philosophies—these belong to Mind. The intersection of Space and Mind is, quite literally, the galaxy brain meme. Space provides the backdrop, but Mind invites you to imagine, to engage with possibilities as limitless as the universe itself. Mind brings you to a million crossroads and asks one simple question:
What will you do?
Let's take a look at our neighbor on the other side: Void. This Aspect is also characterized by its breadth. Much like a dark and impenetrable ocean, those who flirt with the Void without a proper appreciation for its nature may find themselves sinking helplessly below the surface. A Hero of Space may have difficulty teasing out their purpose in the game, chewing on the grand mythology their Land offers them free of charge. Nevertheless, the writing is often already on the wall. A Hero of Void, however, will find that their purpose has been translated through dozens of foreign tongues, with plenty of key information lost to time—or purposefully redacted. The result is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma, pocked with uncertainty and doubt. Whereas Mind encourages its players to parse through a vast array of known options to find a way forward, Void demands that its players conceive the inconceivable, creating something from nothing through methods best described as arcane.
There are two kinds of people in this world.
1. Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data
Space and Void both share a profound connection to Water, and they both possess a certain vastness that can only be truly understood through experience. These are both true of Mind as well, though Mind's connection to Water is much more abstract. (Appropriate, considering Mind sits above the Aspect Wheel's horizon, in the World of Ideas, while Void sits below, in the World of Matter.) Yet, they all deal with a theme I've mentioned several times now: conception. Birth. The new replacing the old. Space and Void both conjure up a sense of creation that's almost miraculous in nature. To create a whole universe, even for the most powerful Space player, is still incredibly impressive. To create something from nothing—whether that "something" is a physical object, an idea, or a secret third thing—is no less astonishing. A Mind player can synthesize information, make inferences based on what they know, and use that understanding to chart causality. All of this, however, requires prior information to work from. A Void player is capable of seeing the unseen, understanding what cannot be understood, and acting based upon that. They flirt with paradox and fuck the ineffable. Our familiar celestial bodies are the source of much inspiration, and we pay homage to them in so much of our art. Yet, like silence to a song, Space is defined not just by the stars themselves, but by the void between stars, and it is in these dark waters that Space and Void become one.
Come, friends. Let us bask in the now, in what is. Let what must be remain in the fiery bosom of Time. Breathe, and feel the universe breathe with you. Allow your conception of yourself, of your planet, of each cell in your body to shrink as you inhale, to expand as you exhale, until the microcosm and the macrocosm are utterly in sync. Visualize every physical and conceptual boundary you can think of, and allow them to dissolve. Do the same with those you can't. Allow me to ask you one simple question:
Have you ever rotated a tesseract in your mind?

looked thru ur lifestuck au and. Heir of rage grienn is so real actually. Like I run a small classpect analysis blog and I saw that and went "that's the truest thing to ever be spoken" I love that for him. Also everything else about the au is also great it's just that that specific detail means so much to me specifically. Also may I ask about lifestuck joel?
thank you!!! and YES rage player grian is so special to me. he's mildly deranged he's bloodthirsty he'll lead people to their deaths just for the heck of it. but also: he's very much aware of how the game works he's organizing groups of allies he's not quite himself. (heir in particular,,, he is the game. he's played by the game. he's taking 30 hearts off you and he's laughing.) etc etc :)
you may have noticed that this ask took me a very long time to respond to, sorry! this partially because the character of joel smallishbeans confounds me and i spent like a decent amount of time trying to puzzle him out, lol. he is like one of three characters i don't have a solid classpect for so this is tentative, but here he is for now :]
Tumblr media
he is most definitely a knight, of that i'm sure. he's super connected to his aspect intrinsically, but the game is not kind to him for it. again, like martyn, he's the narrative's beloved littleguy and they love stacking stuff on him to deal with. and boy does he deal with it, or tries, but it's Not Fun
as possibly disastrous as a session with three rage players would be, i do think it would make sense in some part for him to be one -- although with the caveat that he's not very good at it, haha. yeah he's supposed to be vengeful and a force of chaos for the server. does he particularly succeed in this? ...ehhhh

i am curiose 👁️ abt the equius -> lil cal -> striders theories
oh shit aight [cracks knuckles] im not as good as others at organizing this stuff but imma do my best
so basically in terms of classpecting Lil Cal is ridiculous. dude has a lord of time, bard of rage, AND a prince of heart all mixed up together. however you wanna interpret caliborn, gamzee, and hal existing inside lil cal is up to you but for this theory we're lookin at them as separate entities kind of like system members in a plural way cause thats just what makes the most sense to me conceptually. but ANYWAY thats three powerful classpects all running around butting up against each other. time rage and heart is an insane combination so why is lil cal not greating a passive AOE type gravity well of destruction just by sitting there? my partner and i think its because of equius being an heir of void. this classpect has always fuckin fascinated me cause like, he basically inherits nothing right? thats a literal read of it at least. void is fuckin weird and my autistic brain no matter how many wrinkles it has just cant grasp it which is, yknow, what void is and does
Heir of Void: One who Invites Manipulation of Void or one who Invites Manipulation through Void
take a look at the above blog cause its really well put imo. there are so many ways to interpret void in general and heirs are also kind of a funky class, but we believe that inside lil cal, equius has been using his void powers as a shock absorber. equius IS a shock absorber. what do you do with all that power but you cant let it get out? you try to keep it caged. the heir of void acts like a blackout blind inside lil cal whether equius is concious of it or not, whether hes an active separate conciousness who still identifies as equius or not. lil cal is also an heir of void purely because equius is there. void just kinda naturally cancels out the other more active/destructive classpects. hes the base to caliborn, gamzee, and hals acid
which then makes me go crazy thinking about beta dirk again like ive talked about before. i truly believe that lil cal had a major hand in making bro strider as abusive as we see in hs1. i believe that any dirk is capable of slipping into abusive/toxic behaviours. AR for instance maniplulated dirk and others almost every time we see him but thats also complicated as fuck, because i think that was him being backed into a corner. he had no other choice in terms of holding onto his automity basically. not excusing orchestrating dirks first decapitation but its a fascinating reason. i think Hal/AR is what Beta Dirk could have been like without lil cal's interference. the sexual abuse and throwing dave down the stairs? thats lil cal's work.
lil cal has 3 extremely violent people floatin around inside him (caliborn, gamzee, equius), two of them having intense and poorly managed fixations on intimacy/tenderness and sex/kink in general, and one deeply scared, angry, and traumatized splinter of Dirk himself. an absolutely toxic combination and one that set Bro up for failure since he was sent into the beta timeline. Bro Strider is absolutely a Doomed Dirk. i do not count AR as being a violent person, at least compared to the others, but if while in Lil Cal he's still angry at Dirk then who knows what their interactions wouldve been like while Beta Dirk grows up. We do get to see a window into what AR couldve been like inside Lil Cal when we get into the Doc Stratch stuff because Doc Stratch is basically AR but creepier, which... actually leads me to believe way more that by the time Doc Scratch is A Thing, AR's personality has been melded into something/someone else entirely. but they talk + type pretty much exactly the same. its absolutely crazy i hadnt noticed that until recently. everyone wondering what AR would be like if Bro Strider made him? points to Doc Scratch unfortunately
but comin back from the inevitable Hal Tangent(tm), like its fuckin fascinating because while i do count Equius as contributing to Lil Cal's general toxicity (mostly through his learned caste bullshit) i also think, again, that hes the only reason why we never actually saw Bro draw Dave's blood. not even a drop. he cut his shirt symbol yeah but his shirt was intact.
we see Equius getting stressed over breaking shit accidentally basically the whole time hes alive. i mean fuck the whole glass of milk gag in one of the final alterniabounds while you play him. its pretty easy for me to read that as him being generally anxious about being too strong for his enviornment, especially too strong to touch anyone he cares about, and that when he does eventually end up breaking smth/hurting someone, it impacts him. like a lot. he could easily hurt Nep if hes not careful so hes gotta pull back and be suuuper gentle like all the time. and him having that kinda temperament combined with his classpect makes me think that he'd use his void powers to protect and cloak and supress. he embodies the void. he becomes 'nothing' and therefore he becomes anything he wants.
basically, Equius is a tempering force inside Lil Cal and thus a tempering force over Bro too because hes constantly scared of and stressed over breaking shit and hurting his friends. he knows how dangerous Caliborn and Gamzee are. Gamzee killed him easily after all. So he can't let Bro actually touch Dave. Bro might not want to touch dave anyway with how Caliborn sexualizes platonic touch. but Bro still needs to make Dave STRONG enough to survive the game, Eq can help with that at least

*It seems that Dave was asleep but quickly got up, ready for whatever bullshit (his and my words, not anyone else's; after all, Homestuck itself is that) he had ready. Although IRL school demands IRL, not transitioned Dave to study, in this hour he's good to yap*
Alright...the thing is, a part of me alwahs doubt my own judgement on others, especially as I'm poor with judging myself. But there's no denying that I was already in the right track all along! So, you got: Knight of Mind! Some powerful classpect, although every one of them are powerful when used properly (although since I'm no SBURB player, at least this "THE Dave", I got no classpect powers. But my classpect is pretty neat as well).
So, since I'm lazy af rn, here's a quote from a tumblr blog that focuses on classpects: "Knights use their aspect as a weapon, exploit their aspect for any situation, and defend others with their aspect. Mind is all about logic, decisions, the outer self and tactical planning. Therefore, the Knight of Mind uses their mind to fight and defend, allowing them to be masters of battle tactics."
Knights also...hide under a persona. Either that is a shadow of their true potential, or hiding their true selves...mostly the latter, most of the time. As for you, you seemed to be quite a good example of such classpect used with (almost) full potential! You used strategies to make your fellow Rescue members organized, and no offense to Jin but you had more leadership effort since you're way more present than her. <-Blud still thinks Jin is the 'true' leader and will die on that hill
Although there is a canonical Knight of Mind in Homestuck [who is it? I ain't telling; go read the gogdamned comic or search ;) ], you were quite the opposite of her. You used your knowledge for real instead of hiding it, but even then there's that case of an "outer self" with you. However, unlike Roy, you seemed more stable with the emotional and mental parts of your identity, although still something...that may or may not be quite concerning, I suppose?
I've met many Polis who were as strategic as you but used it for other reasons, whether for good (like my Murder Drones AU!Poli/Price) or evil, others who emphasized the "No usey knowledge" thing—although it's not in a "cool lad" persona but in a kinda stoic sona instead—and some who were supposed to be a Mage, which understands their aspect quite well. Although that case for that last one is due to various...shenanigans.
Although the thing is...I wonder if that first variation of you that I've met as a kid is still around. As in, "narratively significant" around. Maybe he is, but who knows, really? We're all puppets of fate, and for someome like me...myself. But in the end, all is good...and I wish it was in my actual world.
I was far from it for a reason...
"Oh my word.."
Poli blinked several times, processing said information.
"Well, good morning to you? Woah, you manage to type up a whole storm after waking up? Impressive."
"Knight of mind, huh? That sounds like a cool title. So I'm sort of a knight? Also.. there's other Poli's out there? Like, other versions of myself?"
"I seriously learn something new everyday from you all.."
