regarding the magic soap thing, would carving a sigil into the soap and then using it (either on a specific body part or your whole body) make sense?
Makes sense to me! Well, depending on the sigil, I guess lol

This is great; I love to learn about art
AND
When I got to the final comment here, I was incredulous. "Reading comprehension on this site is piss-poor," I muttered aloud from the bathroom. The idea that someone would so misinterpret the OP that they would call them a fascist for believing the opposite of that post's meaning shocked me.
So, I took it to my partner, Jaz, and asked them to explain the post back to me. They didn't produce MY interpretation (which is, for the record, "people say it's a crime to ruin the nuances of a physical painting but Wikipedia, which is where most people will ever see it, has a tiny shitty image"), but when asked if their interpretation ("people threw red paint on a painting so red it only takes 2kB to represent; it is silly to complain") was bad enough to harass the OP about, they just said "not my circus, not my monkeys".
Which I think demonstrates two critical skills for social media: in Jaz's case, ignore & move on if someone seems to have a common, mildly shitty interpretation; in mine, search for the most charitable interpretation of people's words
Also, it occurred to me in writing this that 1) no one said OP was getting yelled at, just that a) they clarified the original intent and b) garden-variety rejection of modern art is often a fascist project, and 2) the tone of the first reblog was in fact pretty hostile and admonishing to OP, but I just kinda mentally edited it down to "yeah paintings are just really hard to photograph", so uh
We Are All
🅱️iss on the poor
Art snobs complain that using a different kind of paint "forever destroyed" the painting
Wikipedia hosts it as a 2-kilobyte SVG
#except rook who correctly read everything#hi rook i saw u in a reblog so I came back here to say this sorry for being annoying#personal#reading comprehension#hymneminium#earlgraytay#orevet#art

@orevet submitted: two lovely ladies I met while foraging in the bronx
They are both very nice.......but I especially love the stag beetle. Quite large snippers, looks like a male rather than a female!

Tagged in a meem by @60th!
Last song I listened to: I think the last song I chose to listen to in full was "Sam's Town" by The Killers bc I was listening to Hot Fuss in my iTunes library and it spilled over into the next album before I switched to podcasts! If we count head music, "How Do I Live (Bunny Back in the Box version)" by Michael Guy Bowman is still plaguing me from my guest episode on Unsound Theories, "Overbite" by Sincere Engineer, and "Two Coffins" by Against Me!
Last book I read: I recently caught up on Mixed Feelings, a Worm longfic by Kithri on AO3. My current reads are Love-in-a-Mist by Victoria Goddard in print, The Flower That Bloomed Nowhere by Lurina on Royal Road, and When the Angels Left the Old Country by @kuttithevangu as read over the phone to me by @toopunkrockforshul (the Victoria Goddard fanserver chose it for bookclub in August :^D but I lost my signed copy in the divorce D^: but I have a cool partner who is Super Fucking Hype :^D)
Last thing I watched: B*rd B*x Barc*lona, which was mid but I did enjoy it. Ooh and I still have a couple Wheel of Time episodes I can watch!
Current obsession: I don't have any right now and it is dealing low but noticeable psychic dps :^(
No obligation to do it and DEFINITELY no obligation to do it in as much detail as I did and EXTREMELY no obligation to tag 8 people to subsequently do it who don't overlap w ppl tagged in the same post as you nor the three people they are most likely to tag if they do it, but I'm interested in the answers of: @cwtchpup @kumbric @sangfielle @bitd @racheldawnamber @roaringup @orevet and uhhhh Kuzu if u read this far

@orevet submitted: more bugs from the Bronx: scale insects on a reed leaf and a bumblebro
The first ones are aphids rather than scale insects! I think specifically mealy plum aphids. They leave a sort of waxy/powdery looking residue where they feed. And the second one is only pretending to be a bumblebee! It's actually a robber fly, and they want very badly to eat bees. And other bugs. :)

@orevet submitted: two ladybugs making more ladybugs, a fine gentleman sunning himself, and a sweet fat baby I accidentally brought home with some foraged plants and set free in the bushes near my building
(location is the Bronx, NY, USA for ID purposes)
Some excellent finds! The ladybugs are fourteen-spotted lady beetles and I hope they have many children together. The moth is an eight-spotted forester moth. The caterpillar appears to be an American copper underwing :)

a year ago I was on a walk and came across police tape tied around some trees in a ring off the side of the trail. a few trees weren't connected by the tape, but there were mushrooms sprouted between those trees. I would have waltzed right in look around if not for the mushrooms, and the whole thing gave off such an eerie vibe. we know to avoid fairy rings made of mushrooms, but who'd suspect police tape?
oh shit they’re evolving, they understand that all police tape is gonna do is make you more interested
you’re smart, keep it up

for the ask meme, 16 (how'd you spend new year's '99-2000)
At a big bonfire party out in the country with a ton of dumbass kids most of whom were underage drinking (including me.) It was a blast. I still have a roll of film I haven’t developed from that night and I plan on getting it developed next year. We’ll see if any of them turn out.
