Emira not even hesitating to offer her concealment stone is already sweet as-is, but also! She arguably doesn’t even need to when she’s using Edric’s concealment stone, but Emira does so anyway just for that extra support and flair for her little sis!
I must point out though that like Amity, Edric DOES have a necklace, no doubt given to him by his mother, as a reflection of her influence on him and his appearance; Again, like Amity... Makes me wonder if Emira was really itching to take that off for her brother, and if seeing Amity embrace herself has emboldened her to reveal her true appearance, no shame as an F you to Mom; Especially with Amity already telling Odalia to stick it, the twins are even bigger troublemakers so it should be just as easy, if not easier for them to do the same!
Tumblr media
I also want to mention that Emira calls out that she saw Edric use a concealment stone this morning, rather than this being something he always does. This makes me wonder if Edric’s ‘neat’ appearance is actually real most of the time, but for this one day he used a concealment stone for ease. Or Edric tries to hide his usage from Emira, but she IS his twin so she’d know anyway, wouldn’t she? Still, the desire by Odalia for her kids to look effect and match would def motivate him to get that necklace, so it’s still an extension of her abuse like Amity’s in a sense.
Likewise, as others have pointed out; Emira not just hiding her pimples, but also creating a mole to match with Edric’s, where there is none! Clearly Odalia wants her kids to match and made them emulate one another, Edric having Emira’s attire, Emira having Edric’s mole. It’s no wonder then that Emira wants to break away from Ed as her own person, even if she still loves and enjoys him; Edric seems to really want to use his concealment stone and is afraid of showing himself without it, but Emira is comparatively a lot more eager and has less to hide, arguably. And that fits with her as the more independent and freedom-oriented of the two, and of the siblings as a whole.
Also I gotta add... Edric is revealed to be multi-track, the episode after we see Jerbo and his plans to change the system and allow people to study different kinds of magic at once? Plus Emira being a healer, like Viney??? We know the detention kids returned from fan demand, the showrunners HAD to have known about Jerbric and Vinira, so it seems they’re really throwing us a bone here with them...!
Anyhow this Blight Twin content, getting to see them individualize, self-actualize... Edric being a beastkeeper and even multi-track, Emira with her hair down, the twins getting adopted by Eda and wanting to be! Encouraged by her! Edric keeping the bat as Batric, being a dork and insecure as the less ‘cool’ twin, as the twins support Amity’s mischief and remark on it; Plus the seeds of Vinira and Jerbric?! THIS IS EVERYTHING I WANTED FOR THEM THIS SHOWS KEEPS GIVING TO AND REWARDING ME
All I want/need now is a dedicated B-plot for Emira, some focus for her development and individualizing, fostering her own independence from the others while reconciling that with her love for her siblings... We got a bit of Em development but she deserves as much as Edric! Istfg if she was going to have a B-plot in Season 3 but we lost that because it got shortened, I’m gonna personally obliterate Chapek-

The Owl House Reaching Out Recap
Tumblr media
Luz tries to help Amity deal with her dad, but Luz might be hiding something. Spoilers below.
I was not prepared for the level of feels this episode hit me with. The episode begins with Luz getting a reminder on her phone for an event with her mom. She acts weird, while weirder than normal. Eda and King pick up something’s up.
But Amity comes over with her dad problems. She wants to enter Bonesborough Brawl. The fighting competition that her father once won. But it's on the same day as emperor coven tryouts. Amity’s experience over the course of the show had killed any interest she had in joining.
Luz talks Amity into going for the brawl, Amity fakes her fathers voice and commands the abomination babysitting her to find a rare dagger. Luz gets Edric and Emira help help with Amity’s outfit. And it turns out instead of making themselves presentable they just cover themselves with illusions. Emira has pimples and Edric is in full on sweatpants. That said, Amity's outfit is super cute. I especially like the glasses.
But watching her girlfriend isn’t enough to distract Luz and she joins the fight. I love her wearing Eda’s old Gruby outfit and her messy hair. But she finds it strange that Luz is fighting when this was supposed to be about her.
Meanwhile, Eda wants to interrogate the warden about Raine and the day of unity. So she makes a truth potion. She ropes in Edric to help her. But she leaves him only with King and they decide to cook it hotter to make it cook faster. It’s literally that Zuko and Toph post. It makes warden into a monster but he’s fine after a smack down from Eda. Warden has been demoted for stealing his co-workers' lunches. He doesn’t know anything about Raine, but the day of unity is meant to make them all one with the titan, and some of the coven heads fear that this new world will not like magic users.
Back with the others, the abomination returns and Luz sets off its alarm. Alador returns and shuts down the game. Amity runs off and Luz goes to meet her at the tree they made at Grom. Luz reveals that today is the anniversary of her father's death. Every year they would plant flowers over his grave. I love the look on Amity’s face as she hears this.
The heart to heart is interrupted by the before mentioned warden fight. I like the exchange that Alador has with Eda. When they say each other's names, it has a lot of history behind it. Amity confronts her dad that he doesn’t really do anything to rain in Odalia and he hasn’t even put it together that she’s dating Luz. It’s really interesting that Aldor sees Luz as Eda’s.
Afterward Amity reminds Luz that she can spell flowers when she can’y find any. They send some up to the sky, while back in the human realm Camilia puts some in a vase. Also Vee hanging out untransformed. That’s neat.
A beautiful episode! 4/4
