-Can understand a good chunk of French but can’t speak more than a few simple words if that, has no clue how he understands it (Spy spoke a good amount of French around him as a baby or something idk)

-Can be just has hard to find as Spy-once you loose sight of him he’s impossible to find if he’s actually trying to stay hidden-Like father like son

-Can and will steal your food-this includes Heavy and Medic-He has no fear whatsoever and has been sent to respawn god knows how many fucking times because of this-And yet he still does it

-Loves scifi movies and comics and if you watch a movie with him half of it is him pointing out random trivia facts because he’s incapable of shutting the fuck up (this is also what happens when you watch a movie with me irl. My grandparents are sick and tired of it. Yes this is even more self projection what of it?)

-has mastered the younger sibling talent of fucking climbing people if it means getting something that’s held over his head. He also bites

Soldier

-it’s impossible to tell if he’s insulting you or complimenting you 90% of the time

-Has stabbed Scout’s hand to the table to prevent him from stealing food before and no one stopped him

-The team has movie nights once a week and Soldier always puts on the same inaccurate WW2 documentary he made himself when it’s his turn to pick-he used to put on 10 hours of the American National Anthem but someone (read: The rest of the team working together) lost (read: Violently destroyed) the tape after the third time

-I said he was from Missouri once in a rp cuz my rp friend and I are both from different parts of Missouri so that’s my hc now

-An adrenaline junkie but will never ever admit it

-Spy can mimic voices to a near perfect even without his disguise kit-he however rarely uses this and instead simply mocks everyone instead because he finds it funny (“This is Scout! Rainbows make me cry!”)

-Wears a corset because I said so-It always matches perfectly with his outfit and underwear too-He feels SO bonita

-Scout is gay and so many levels deep in the closet it’s embarrassing-He’s also trans because I said so

[[I am really very introverted and anxious, even over text conversations.

I joked when I reblogged this very meme that you basically have to @ me in group chats to make me appear but that's kind of true honestly.

If we talked about starting something and then I got busy and disappeared for months.... yeah that might not happen now. I feel far too anxious coming to stuff "late" so to speak. If you still really want that thread, you aren't annoying me by poking or reminding me. You're confirming to me we're still good to go because I've probably overthought the idea of saying anything to you after "too long".

If you want anything in general ^^; you have to make that pretty obvious. I've had it a few times now where people have told friends or my spouse they'd like to interact with me and get to know me, but never gave me any indication directly, so it was never apparent to me. There's a lot of reasons that doesn't work but in simple terms, if you have an anxiety disorder you're going to connect dots even if they aren't there. Does that make sense? A huge facet of anxiety and related disorders is reading between the lines even when there's nothing actually in the margins.

Honestly though talking to me is the same as anyone else:

Ask me questions, @ me to let me know you want to hear from me. Tag me in random stuff. TALK TO ME. Come to me with RP ideas OR let me know what muses of mine you want to interact with and we'll bake something together. Really just invite me into whatever is going on. 14. How long have you been roleplaying?

UH...good question XD I started back in uh...2014 I think?? YEAH because my first ever Tumblr RP account was @morelikemikeshitamiright (which I'll be honest is HILARIOUS that it's still there...I abandoned it YEARS ago). Then for a while I mostly had ask accounts, I RPed as Scout from TF2 a bit too but not A LOT so I wouldn't really count those as RP years. I didn't really get RP heavy until I was @gottalovearickinuniform (which is still KINDA there??) and the MANY MANY sideblogs attached to it (I think I was up to like 11 Ricks, a Morty, and even a Mr. Meeseeks). Then I kinda went inactive again with until I was my Team Skull grunt character and-

BOY HOWDY IS THIS GONNA BE A LONG ANSWER-

In short: My fav bands are Mindless Self Indulgence and Ghost (sometimes referred to as Ghost B.C. due to copyright issues in America when they first started) and they sound nothing alike and love them for completely different reasons XD I can't really rule one as my "top fav" over the other tbh because they switch around a lot depending on my mood (though I can always go into horny details on why I love each of them on another post). Other favs include My Chemical Romance, Bloodhound Gang, Fall Out Boy, Misfits, The Offspring, MC Chris, Alice Cooper, and Priest (and that's just off the top of my head ngl)

In long: I LISTEN TO EVERYTHING. Yes, everything. Some smartass probably "OH even polka??" YES FUCKER AND NOT JUST WEIRD AL. 18. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I'm gonna break this into two categories because I kinda feel like it's two different ball games XD

First of all, if it's outside of the US then I'd say Japan, specifically Tokyo and places that area. I KNOW THAT'S SO WEEABOO BASIC BITCH XD But nah I'm actually really invested in the cool technology and shit they have there, the cyberpunkish aesthetics of their architecture, and even some of their customs and cultures! Like they really got it goin on over there, everything runs like a well oiled machine and people are so much more polite and everything it seems (though I'm kinda scared they probably don't like Americans because...well, we're actually pretty horrible lol). Plus they have all the cool toys, games, restaurants, experiences, and even the better theme parks! Everything is just so over the top and beautifully done and honestly I'm a bit jealous we can't have nice things like that XD

Meanwhile in the US or just North America in general there are a TON of places I'd visit for one reason or another! I'm very very into roadside America and love tourist traps and other such attractions! They're actually a pretty heavy special interest for me lol. UH but I'll list some of my main wants!

The House on the Rock in Wyoming, WI (which is literally 2-3 hours from us we just haven't had the chance to go yet lol...but to be fair I've been wanting to visit it since I lived in KY!)

my opinion on;

CHARACTER IN GENERAL. I like Vegeta; but my relationship with him as a character in the canon is a bit complicated by the fact that, at various points throughout the series, I like him more for what I think he could or, in my opinion, should have been rather than what he actually was. I feel like he's given an awful lot of chances and faith by other characters which, quite frankly, I don't think he's strictly done the work to deserve. (Which could be an interesting incongruity to explore at greater depth. Unfortunately though, it often doesn't pan out that way, at least to my eyes.) He's pretty Not Great in a lot of ways, which, honestly, is what I actually like about him. I think it's interesting for him and those around him to have to wrestle with that reality; but then a lot of times it feels like he gets granted a weird amount of slack for those significant ongoing flaws, and it's like...why? He's at his best when he kind of Sucks in ways that have actual consequences for and effects on both himself and those around him.

HOW THEY PLAY THEM. You do a good and very conscious job of maintaining/highlighting Vegeta's antisocial tendencies while simultaneously leaning into traits and little situational manipulations that ensure it's possible for people's characters to interact meaningfully with him, despite him being the way he is in general. Those interactions might not be light-hearted or easy to navigate, mind you, but they are interactions, and they do have weight. I'm sure you've experienced for yourself before just how frustrating it can be when you're trying to interact with a 'withdrawn, surly loner' kind of character, but the writer isn't doing any of the legwork to help make the character accessible in a way that still feels on-point and natural for them. It's an incredibly irritating position to find yourself in, so I appreciate the effort you put into making sure that people have ample openings for interacting with Vegeta, while still allowing him to be the rude, violent, mercurial piece of work he is.

THE WRITER. We haven't necessarily talked a great deal yet, but already I appreciate how able and willing you are to come to the table with your own thoughts and ideas in hand, in terms of both IC and OOC interactions. (Like, some people simply can not hold up their end of the conversation. You don't suffer from that particular affliction; and by god, I adore you for it already.) You also draw a clear distinction between Vegeta's personality and your own, and don't at all come across as unwelcoming or standoffish yourself despite playing such a famously prickly character.

As is my long-standing and glorious custom, I'm going to preface this answer with the understanding that I pretty much always need to see how characters actually interact with each other before I can say with any confidence whether or not a ship might be interesting or feasible to try out.

With that aside, I'll say right up front that I really don't anticipate that Seventeen or Vegeta will be each other's 'types'. I'm open to surprises, as always, but my kneejerk impression is that they won't be drawn to each other in those particular ways. However, I’ll also say that, if they do indeed end up sort of Weirdly Getting Along in the way we’ve talked about some, then I could see Seventeen being willing to casually fool around with Vegeta anyway without feeling the need to make a big ol' deal out of it, if Vegeta turned out to be down to clown. (Please note how much heavy lifting the word ‘if’ is doing in that sentence.)

(Do not remind her.)

Build Experience Notes

I found the idea of actually picking a character completely overwhelming for a game this silly when I didn't have a plan to play it and constraints spur creativity, so I picked up my dice... but I knew "take the first thing you roll" would also just piss me off. So I pretended there were three of us, which was basically what you recommended anyway, and this is what happened:

Basically, we used the dice in conjunction with the Roger Rabbit rule to say "We will find a way to obey the dice as often as we can make it funny."

Third person rerolled Facets because we looked at the three and said we had too similar a set of stats. We also would have swapped around or manually adjusted immediately if someone strongly preferred playing "the [whatever] one" because stats are a PITA and less of a creative thing.

We rolled one trait at a time, and every time there was a duplicate, the person who already had the trait had the option to keep it or cross it off and let the new roller have it. (I know we could also decide to duplicate them, but meh. More interesting to spread out the powers.) This allowed a lot of flexibility and horse-trading while still giving the dice significant control of what came into play. That "keep or pass" mechanic was great.

We marked ? for all those 6X blanks on the table, but mostly chose to reroll them because making up new ones sounded like work. One on the last round of Traits seemed like a good chance to allow a swap and manual pick where the character concepts were really coming together. Keeping a couple of those 6X slots free if you don't think of really great things to do with them would both prompt "invent your own trait" and leave space for other wildcard mechanics that players like me come up with.

I did sensible little "only if it was funny" tweaks like crossing out the 3 Mien options that didn't make sense for Smiles, but still actually rolled between the other 3 and DANG, I was not expecting to end up with the 1/3 chance of the absurd Trustworthy option. This character is ridiculous. Thanks, dice!

Other thoughts

I saw you talking about another set of traits and that frankly just sounds like more to keep track of. Let's be horrible little animals and go eat God already.

With my schedule being The Way That It Is lately, I don't know when I'll be able to pull together a complete and playable version of Eat God, so I'm hoping this will sustain interest until that time comes. Technoblade’s purpose in the political narrative of the Dream SMP

I can’t sleep so I decided to finally write the post I’ve been struggling with for literal months, except way more casual because I can’t be bothered anymore and also I’m sleep deprived.

So the thing is: to me the DSMP storyline has always been primarily political, probably because I was introduced to it through Wilbur who was definitely going for political, and also because I’m just generally interested in political narratives right now. Obviously I appreciate the character work and the personal relationship stuff, that’s what makes it more interesting than just dry allegory, but when it comes down to it, this story is about politics to me. So that’s the angle I’m going to approach it from.

Also not to spoil the conclusions here, but I’m an anarchist, that’s my lens.

(Obviously all of this is about rp from here on out unless otherwise specified)

Basically the situation as Techno joins the server is this: L'Manburg exists as an autonomous nation and is de facto independent although not officially recognised by the Dream SMP. The self-appointed president Wilbur Soot decides to hold an election and rig it in order to consolidate his power over the nation he founded and he gets his VP Tommyinnit to join in on the plan. Their scheme fails and they end up voted out instead. The new president, Schlatt, immediately establishes himself as an authoritarian figure and exiles Wilbur and Tommy.

A couple of points on what the election arc demonstrates:

1: the appearance of democracy can be used for distinctly undemocratic purposes.

2: even if the elections aren’t rigged, the electoral system could be massively flawed and end up favouring a party that in fact didn’t have the popular vote

3: even if the winning government (the coalition in this case) has the majority vote, that doesn’t guarantee that they’ll actually act according to the popular will.

4: the supporters of the losing parties basically just have to let the majority overrule their wishes, espcially since apparently L’Manburg doesn’t have an established role for an opposition, yikes. That’s actually a MAJOR oversight in the system but I’m not gonna go into that too much.

5: frankly as an anarchist I am just deeply cynical towards representative democracy, and just because you have a token appearance of choice and consent doesn’t mean that it isn’t a hierarchical and authoritarian system. And to be fair, from my point of view this applies even to so-called liberal democracies and progressive parties. Full disclosure: even if L'Manburg was the ideal example of a representative democracy (which it very much isn’t) I would still be opposed to it because I fundamentally do not believe in top down systems, even electoral ones.

6: despite all these flaws, all the characters seem to implicitly accept the electoral system as legitimate. There’s criticism against the actions of individual characters acting within the system, such as Quackity calling out Wilbur for trying to rig the election, but nobody is questioning the system itself.

So at this point I’m sitting there, watching all this go down, and thinking “man, this would be so much more bearable if there was an anarchist point of view being represented in the story.”

And hey, look who IMMEDIATELY SHOWS UP.

Okay, I’m not gonna lie, early installation Technoblade is not the best representation of anarchism. I was mostly rooting for him out of sheer contrarianism initially. I didn’t really even care if it would be another Killmonger/Magneto/Zaheer situation because I’m used to reading against the authorial intent when it comes to these things. Sometimes any representation is better than no representation, even with political ideologies. That’s not to say that him just straight up spouting this hobbesian notion of a “dog-eat-dog world” didn’t grate on me, obviously it did.

That kind of worldview of humanity needing authority in order to prevent chaos and conflict is literally antithetical to anarchism and is the favourite talking point of authoritarians, the least anarchist people there are. It’s literally what people use to argue AGAINST anarchism. I think it’s mostly because cc!Techno obviously wasn’t particularly educated on anarchist thought and was just basically having fun roleplaying with his friends at this point. Which is frustrating but fair enough I guess.

Cynical ideas about human nature are pretty deeply rooted in the mainstream, unfortunately, most people just consider it common sense. And like I said, it’s a huge talking point in the propaganda against anarchism.

(… even though in fact these arguments were originally used against proponents of representative democracy. Hobbes himself was very much a monarchist, the idea of letting normal people vote for their representatives would have been terrifying to him. Like surely the world would descent into a free-for-all war, all against all. Imagine letting commoners have OPINIONS, the horror.)

So yeah, that stuff was pretty ehhhhh. It was basically what I’d expected though: cc!Techno isn’t an anarchist and we just don’t get accurate representation from non-anarchists, ever. What I dared to hope was that Techno’s character would at least stay consistent about his opposition to ALL governments. I was pretty sure that he would, even though it seemed like the majority of the fandom at the time was convinced that he would switch over to Schlatt’s side or something. It would have been a really shitty twist, I would have ragequit immediately. I mean what would have been the entire point of his character then? He might as well have been a random mercenary. Why even have his character be an anarchist if you were just going to make him work for a government?

(ftr this is kinda my biggest problem with the Hypixel Skyblock revolution event lol, honestly I think that was a worse depiction of anarchism than early DSMP Technoblade. I mean the speech was good, but… still became a government official, tho. booooooooo, cringe)

And yes, I was rooting against L'Manburg, obviously, and I would have even if it had meant having to deal with another badly written anarchist villain character. I never understood why people saw L'Manburg as the good guys, they were nationalist and exclusionary and their whole existence was based on trying to scam people for money.

I mean they were definitely funny, they were great entertainers. I have no problems with people rooting for them because they’re fun to watch; I did that for a bit too. But people were starting to get really into the story and talk about Wilbur and Tommy, the corrupt politicians, and the country that literally excluded people based on nationality as the heroes, unironically, which was wild to me. And when Wilbur started his “villain arc” well: people called it a villain arc, as if he hadn’t been pretty much a bad guy from the beginning, constantly just out for money and power and taking advantage of the people around him and then pretending to be the victim when challenged. I mean yes he got worse, but I wouldn’t call it a villain arc, more like just a mental breakdown arc.

More importantly, to me L'Manburg represented so many things I hate about the status quo in real life, and seeing the fandom mostly unquestioningly accept it as good just pissed me off. Still pisses me off tbh. I mean, to be diplomatic I could say that I understand the emotional attachment and the way L'Manburg was built up mirrors a lot of how real nations are built and how they create a sense of patriotism out of symbols and a sense of honour and loyalty, and it’s actually really fascinating how it even works in a Minecraft roleplay. Says something about the human mind I guess. Doesn’t mean I have to like it though.

Anyway, I just wanted to see literally any kind of opposition to power, even if it had to come from a character that was unquestionably a villain, which I fully assumed Techno would be. Because political narratives so often just leave us out, or at best barely mention us. And even from a narrative point of view, adding an anarchist perspective to a political story just objectively broadens its scope and actually challenges people who are used to only arguing along the lines of conservative or liberal, welfare state or privatization, nationalism or multiculturalism, etc. Even if the original work dealt with it poorly, at least it would give me the excuse to rant about it on Tumblr, which is kinda why I revived my old Minecraft sideblog for this. (That and pig!Techno fanart.)

Also how can you have a story so fundamentally about power without its counterpoint: the rejection of power?

(Yes, Dream SMP as a whole is definitely a narrative about power, it’s a huge theme for Wilbur, Quackity, Dream, Eret and the Badlanders at least, as well as obviously the anarchist characters from the opposite direction.)

So yeah, the build up to November 16th for me was mainly about the anticipation for what Techno would do, how would Techno’s character respond to the seemingly inevitable formation of a new government. THAT was the point of interest for me, that was what I was the most invested in. Would we get an actual anarchist opposition as a new side to the conflict or would they just awkwardly drop that whole angle? Or even have him team up with Schlatt like a complete sellout? There was so much potential but I worried they might just waste it.

And I was right to worry since apparently in the original script Techno wasn’t supposed to do anything, he was just there to help fight Schlatt and witness the explosion along with everyone else.

And WOW that would have been so incredibly boring

Not even just from the political perspective, just talking about the narrative in general terms here: imagine November 16th without Techno’s plot points. Not only would it have been boring for Techno’s character but it would have been equally boring for basically everybody but Wilbur and Philza. An anticlimactic fight followed by a big explosion that pretty much everybody had seen coming already. Yes, the button room scene is dramatic and heartbreaking… for Wilbur and Phil. But nobody else was there to see it. For everybody else, it was just a big explosion. It would have been such a huge disservice to anyone watching the other POVs.

Techno’s intervention gave everyone an ACTUAL climactic fight, it allowed characters other than Wil and Phil to witness some actual drama happening and to participate in it, rather than just waiting around for the explosion, while also foreshadowing the explosion. Even better, it provoked SO MUCH discussion in the fandom AND gave a perfect hook for future conflicts to arise. Wilbur’s end was tragic but it was, at the time, final. L'Manburg would have still suffered a catastrophe but it would have been left with just the same exact antagonist as before: Dream.

And at this point Dream’s core goals had barely changed, just his approach was now different. Yes, that makes a difference for the plot, but it doesn’t really change much in terms of ideological conflict. Especially since there really isn’t that big of an ideological difference between Dream and Tommy, because arguably neither of them are particularly big on ideology in the first place, they just have conflicting goals and use different tactics to achieve those goals (well, the tactics aren’t always even that different *cough Spirit cough*).

Techno’s conflict with Tubbo and especially Quackity (and honestly most of the other characters in general) brings in so much more depth to the story, just by introducing another angle, not to even mention how much it brings to focus questions about power and violence. These are themes that exist in other characters’s storylines too but nowhere in the same way or as central as with Techno.

I’m getting kind of ahead of myself here, though.

The real twist of November 16th was the fact that Techno WASN’T a straight up villain, actually. It was a twist to me anyway, because with all my cynicism I just didn’t see it coming, I didn’t expect him to actually start making reasonable criticisms. I didn’t expect him to drop the hobbesian arguments entirely and start making points that actually sounded like anarchism.

I have to assume that cc!Techno must have seen some of the criticisms of his character and been inspired to adjust because the difference is pretty notable.

(Sidenote: I’m just forever kinda sad that Techno’s “I may seem like the villain here” monologue was cut from the video and most people never heard it.)

And I felt SO validated by the way, because it works so well in the story! Everyone is mostly content with the restoration of a status quo of some sort, Schlatt is gone, this is supposed to be the good ending, and then Techno calls them all out and turns the narrative around completely: This was just a coup d'état. This was just the previous political leadership retaking power by force. Why is everyone celebrating the same exact system that lead to Schlatt’s authoritarian rule in the first place?

What he does there is force the audience to question the narrative they’ve been presented so far, that they’ve accepted without a thought. It might not convince them, but they can’t just ignore it either.

Whatever you wanna say about the discourse around Techno on that day, in the ideological narrative THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART. Not who betrayed who or when is political violence justified, that’s about personal relationships and morality and it’s mostly all more relevant to the aftermath than the event itself. In my opinion, the REAL point in the moment is that the characters and the audience were comfortable with the ending only to be presented with a completely new perspective on the events.

It also recontextualises the finale, including Wilbur’s actions! It’s a much more ambiguous end to the Pogtopia vs Manburg arc and to Wilbur’s original run as the head writer. Wilbur’s “even with Tubbo in charge I don’t think [that ‘special place’] can exist again” is vague enough to be dismissed as just part of his paranoia and internal conflict, but with Techno, there’s a concrete question: what if Tubbo, given the same powers as Schlatt, will turn out to be just a new Schlatt? And suddenly you have to wonder what Wilbur meant by his words too. And was all this foreshadowing something about L’Manburg’s future?

Okay I’ve only made it to November 16th and there’s so much more DSMP to talk about but the post is getting too long and I’m starting to lose my energy. Will I ever make a part two? No idea. But I’ll try.

I’m seeing a whole lot of bad takes and ignorance of past/present content and lack of critical thinking or ability to understand character motives regarding this most recent Dream SMP lore. So please, allow me to lay down some facts, some sense, and also some speculation of my own. This’ll be really rambly, because I’m tired, and I want to say a lot. Rewatching ALL the streaming perspectives now, my thoughts start here:

Considering Sam doesn’t want to enter the cell to dirty his hands himself, he clearly has some aversion or moral qualms about torturing prisoners, but Quackity has convinced him to go along with it. Quackity spends a lot of time before he goes into the cell repeatedly making sure Sam won’t have a change of heart and intervene, which indicates Sam probably has some misgivings. Quackity feels he has to remind Sam that this is for the greater good and to stand back and let him do his thing and that this will probably be the last time. These are all reassurances and instructions that would not be necessary if Sam were known to be totally cool with it all already.

Sam believes the stringent measures Dream put in place for the prison are just desserts for him to suffer, but Techno doesn’t deserve the same cruelty, because Techno didn’t enact those rules. And that’s why Techno gets baked potatoes from Sam, and Dream doesn’t. Sam clearly believes this harsh treatment is justified, because Dream was going to do it to someone else. He thinks he’s being just. Of course, allowing the torture, though not his idea and not really comfortable to him, was still crossing a line, considering physical torture was not something Dream did to his victims (and besides, there’s the argument that not everything a criminal has done is morally correct to be done to the prisoner regardless). That, he was convinced, was for the greater good, to get the revive book. Quackity manipulated him; he thinks he’s doing what’s best, but no, of course that doesn’t make him right or his hands clean.

Sam wanted the dog dead because it’s a security risk, especially with Quackity entering the cell with two other people. He killed it later for the exact same reason. Y’all act like nobody else has ever killed an animal in Minecraft RP; get it together. Is Sapnap also evil? Tommy? He killed his own cat. Random animals are not treated with the gravity you guys are giving them; it makes no sense to call out this one time.

When Techno raised the point that he would be fine if Quackity killed him, because Dream could just bring him back, Dream countered with his warning that Techno doesn’t want to experience death, judging by how messed up it made Tommy. What motive would he have to argue that, aside from actually caring about Techno’s well-being? If Dream was only thinking of himself, he would benefit from Techno being willing to die and be brought back to life by him, giving him an easy reason not to give the resurrection knowledge to Quackity. I honestly can’t think of a reason he would argue other than the fact that he doesn’t want Techno to die even temporarily or experience death--that he cares. Interesting...

Dream hiding in the escape tunnel to make it look like he disappeared too was 5,000 IQ, but he didn’t do it just to be silly or smart. Quackity literally threatened to kill Dream when he came back. Dream HAD to pretend to disappear, because he was legitimately in fear for his life. You saw how terrified he was when Sam found him, how he just immediately begged him not to tell Quackity. He was afraid Quackity would come back and kill him before Techno managed to come back and break him out. He believed that would be his fate and had to make a last ditch attempt to avoid that outcome.

Phil confirmed on stream that the blueprints Techno was led to via coordinates are for the prison. Not Tubbo’s missing nuke, like I’ve seen speculated.

“Steve is your polar bear” was written on stream during the “Prison Podcast” Technoblade lore. This is not a mystery. Dream said he wrote it down when Techno started talking about Steve rescuing them.

If Sam doesn’t approve of Quackity killing Dream, why doesn’t he just tell Quackity Dream is still in the prison but not allow Quackity in anymore? Quackity needs Sam to lead him inside, to let him in. Since when did he have any power against Sam to force him to let him in? I don’t understand why Sam has to keep it a secret just to keep Dream alive. Just don’t let Quackity into the prison anymore. Clearly it was a bad idea, since all these security risks happened while Quackity was getting a free pass to not follow the rules of the prison.

Dream casually walking in the way of Sam’s pickaxe to disrupt his swing once Sam almost had the bell broken gets me every time.

The rapport between c!Dream and c!Sam in prison fascinates me. Clearly Dream is much bolder with Sam than Quackity and still seems to trust his sense of duty to a degree. Sam is also more malleable, convinceable, his fatal flaw being actually listening and talking to Dream, even after it clearly messes with him psychologically. He let Quackity manipulate him, too, and he compromises too much. That might seem weird to say, considering the harsh conditions he has Dream in, but. He does give in to a few things.

I’m wondering if Dream wanted to go to the courtyard hoping it was less secure and easier for Techno to break him out of.

Sam has no reason to lie and gaslight about Dream being the one to suggest raw potatoes and sealing up the courtyard. That’s not in his character to do. So clearly Dream suggested these things. In fact, we have proof. Search for the clip of Dream revealing a teaser for future lore, with him telling Sam the hole in the courtyard ceiling for the light is a security flaw. He straight up says that. Update yourselves. Furthermore, are the recordings we have of Dream suggesting nicer features for the prison even lore? Are they in-character, or was it cc!Dream and Sam making plans? I’m genuinely asking, because I don’t remember/am not sure. In any case, clearly the plans changed at some point, and they were Dream’s idea.

Dream said he didn’t realize how bad it was until after he experienced it. This could very well be a lie. However, it could also be a wake-up call. We just don’t know. Dream clearly possesses low empathy, and every person at some point doesn’t fully realize how poorly another being can feel in a bad situation. Sometimes it actually does take experiencing it yourself to realize how it feels. People can do cruel things to others before the empathy fully clicks. It is possible that Dream really does only now understand how harsh his plans were. Unfortunately, it’s just as likely he doesn’t care and is pretending to, because he has a history of acting, lying, and manipulating. We just do not know, and I think that’s part of the fun, the speculation. Note that none of this is excusing what he’s done; that bores me. I just like understanding characters and their psychology and motives.

Sam is ASKING if Dream had this prison built for Tommy. He is suspicious that that is the case. Dream did not TELL him this, because OBVIOUSLY Sam would have absolutely nothing to do with building a prison he knew Dream meant for Tommy. So no, Sam thought it was for something else. And guess what? It was. Back during the disc war finale stream, Dream told Tommy and Tubbo that the prison was originally intended for someone else (maybe multiple people, the number was not specified), but that he changed his mind and would now put Tommy in it (ha ha punny). Tubbo asked who it was originally intended for, and Dream wouldn’t tell him, preferred to keep it a mystery. Dream had zero reason to say this if it weren’t true. In fact, it would have been more impactful to pretend (or admit) he intended it for Tommy all along. Think of the horror, or even the betrayal finding out Sam, his friend, helped make it. So yes, there is every indication that it is the truth--Dream meant the prison for someone else at first.

And Dream didn’t argue with Sam’s accusations, because why WOULD he? If he didn’t tell Tubbo who it was for, he wouldn’t tell Sam now. Plus, he wouldn’t want to argue with Sam, make him more heated and less sympathetic, and risk him deciding to tell Quackity Dream was there after all. Dream has no reason to speak up. Let Sam think what he wants. Dream’s silence does not mean confirmation. This is not a new thing with him. He keeps things mysterious, and there is a lot about his planning and mindset he does not disclose.

Now, whether Dream made the prison harsher before or after he decided he wanted Tommy in it is up for speculation. We don’t know that timeline.

Anyway, Sam’s speech about Dream getting what he deserves is really delicious. All these people out here mocking Dream fans for Dream still being in prison (like Techno’s not imminently coming to break him out, hello?) and being told off by Sam, yet plenty of us are enjoying it, too, like?? Bruh, what kind of Mary-Sue-touting asshole likes characters who are flawless who never go through strife? Can’t be me. I love watching my favs through triumph AND despair, so this is all just a win for me, thanks.

It is possible to sympathize with a bastard who is highly flawed and wrong AND to understand his motivations without justifying his actions AND to realize he deserves punishment (though to what degree I don’t care to argue). All the black and white morality and taking one extreme stance of “this character is perfect!” OR “this character is wholly evil and only ever does things to be sadistic!” and polarizing the community is cringe, yo. You need to calm down. Enjoy the ride or like...get off?

Anyway, Dream is my favorite, Techno is my second favorite, I adore Sam, I really enjoy Quackity, and the SMP wouldn’t be the same without Tommy. So much love for all of this creative work and its creators. I’m having a blast.

w the last of the episodes for the crossover rolling in i just wanted to write a mega long blog about my thoughts from the past two months of it!

well the last two months has certainly been a Lot more than i expected, after thinking i wasnt going to follow the crossover too hard. but i guess it was hard to avoid if i wanted to watch any new content from the people i typically watch so.... yeah, i mean i dont regret that nor did i dislike doing that-- the Empires server was certainly not my type of thing but i managed to find people i enjoyed watching, and has people got more comfortable i was more eager to see them play together anyways.

it seemed like the last two months were a bit chaotic in many ways though- its a shame some folk didnt get videos out due to being sick, but there was so much happening anyways i think i would have felt even more overwhelmed if there was much more happening already.

but anyways... on the specific sides of the crossover and what my take away has been...

I have come away from Empires with a few new subscriptions- primarily i expect to check in w people like fwhip and pixlriffs, i enjoyed their styles and the way they leaned a little less on in character banter and their live streams were things i popped into during all this. there are people i dont think ill watch consistently but i enjoyed their personalities a lot- mythicalsausage being one for sure, and there were definitely others i found very funny alongside other players too. overall it was great exposure, even if i dont expect myself to watch loads of new people now, i do look forward to potential collaborations.

For the first half of the crossover i really loved the concept of the hermit tower, and a giant collab between everyone was really great to see- my only gripe is that i wish we actually got to see some of the planning and discussion around the conclusion they came out. i think early on i mentioned collabs, and how in old smp i loved the live building/planning together. while i get a lot of that is cut for videos, i think wished we'd seen a bit of it in streams or something- most streams i watched (and i did catch a lot) had people on their lonesome when adding to the tower. despite that- its not to say it was a bad idea, it was fun see everyone make that monstrosity. Everyone meshed pretty well with the RPing side of the empires in a way that wasnt unnatural, and i liked seeing some folk get more into it as well. i know i tend to say i dont like "RP" in mcyt, but it just has to do w the audience intended, or their style. Empires has a variety of tone.... some ppl are very aimed at children, some not as much. so it just depends on who I want to deal with lol.

the timing of going back to HC was well timed because i was definitely at the point of wanting to see normal HC again. and while it felt shorter (even though it wasnt, exactly- maybe by a week) i have probably enjoyed it far more just because its the casual meta kind of smp i am used to. i liked that pretty much every empires person was able to drop the hard RP stuff during this period too- mostly lol. i mean in the sense that, even those who did were still very casual overall.

i think the second phase still suffered a bit from... lack of actual content regarding the village being built (which yes again, i know of the stuff that was on stream. but that still wasnt all of it), but coming to to xmas i can see many ppl are not able to squeeze in videos right now either. i feel the timing was good and bad-- fun holiday stuff to do in game, but also lots of IRL stuff, and also sick season...

regardless its been a wild two months to follow- it was exciting getting exposed to so much stuff i wouldnt normally look into. and i could just tell how much fun everyone was having, which made it all the more enjoyable.

Fuji had noticed by now that the other was looking at murder cases and everything that belonged to it in the way a scientist would do quite often. This was a different approach although Fuji had some knowledge when it came to medicine just as well.

The touch of a knowing smirk was decorating his face when the other got that he was somewhat fascinated in his neck and delivered an explanation about where this delicious vein was located. “You know your own body well, huh?”, he wondered and there was indeed something like appreciation in his voice now. If the other was interested in forensics then this wasn’t a big surprise though. His gaze rivetted onto the side of Yesung’s neck for a while. He was a little too far away to touch it so Fuji let it be for the time being and instead focused back onto his knife then, letting the blade glide through his thumb and index finger without touching the sharp side, cocking his long hair back in a way that had a slightly effeminate touch in fact. “Praising others isn’t my thing mostly, but I like your thinking.” With the knife prolonging his arm he reached out and laid the flat side underneath the other’s chin with a smirk, letting the tip run over the vein he had examined earlier, tracing it now directly, but pulling the weapon away then once they got new drinks. Fuji didn’t drink right away, his hand holding the knife resting on the table instead - before he actually bursted out laughing what in fact could sound a little scary thanks to his deep voice - and look scary because of his fangs. “You think /I/ could lose my dignity, too?” He brushed his hair back and shook his head, now rather snorting in amusement just as if this had been the best joke ever. “You wish, man. Or you better don’t. But to be honest, I doubt I could give you the chills with threating to hurt you. Or is that wrong?”

Death had always been a fascination of Yesung's. Even when he was a child, and it just added to the reasons that his parents found him all the more annoying. He wasn't a casual observer, but instead wanted to see it up close. At one point, he even thought about working in a funeral home until he found the smell of chemicals and makeup didn't mix very well with his stomach. It became an obsession the older he got, looking over autopsy photos and almost dreaming of the day he could actually perform one. He didn't want to kill anyone, but he wanted to play with their body. He wanted to remove and rearrange, to peel back skin and muscle...For him, being able to go to college and freely study death and it's many forms were just entertainment for him. He was getting to openly study his obsession, and no one in those few classes judged him for his questions and fascinations.

Several thoughts could run through the man's head at any given time, and he could tell you most of them if anyone bothered asking. It was rare anyone did, and he much preferred his life that way. The shudder that was just barely visible, however, almost made it perfectly clear the thoughts on his mind as he felt the knife just touching his neck.

"I've spent far too many years studying the human body, so it only makes sense that I'd known my own. After all, at the risk of sounding like an absolute nerd, we are the best model we can have for anatomy related subjects." He couldn't help these moments where he was sure he came across as a complete nerd, and he did cringe internally at himself for it. Still, he found himself enjoying the conversation with the one in front of him, which meant he was starting to talk more and more.

"You could give me the chills, certainly, just not the ones I think you're quite expecting. I don't get scared...It's almost impossible. Well, it feels that way, though perhaps I am a bit scared if I'm willing to hold myself back on drinking?" This time, he let his cringing show, his nose scrunching just a bit after the words left his mouth. "Sorry...I wish I could say I'm not normally this nerdy, but I am."

"Is that so? Should we be placing bets on when, then?" Yesung raised an eyebrow at the statement before letting out a faint, dry chuckle. He didn't seem the least bit phased by the statement, not even startled. If anything, he seemed more amused by it.

(rp): Drista!! I love this chaotic child and am looking forward to seeing the children bully each other lmao. I especially love the mythos around Creative mode, and that the most benevolent god on the Dream SMP is just as likely to ban you as hand you a shulker box lol.

I do wonder how in character cc!Tommy is going to be able to stay during this stream: on one hand he’s a master at staying in character even during lh moments, and on the other Exile arc is some Dark Shit and Dristas like what, 14?? Overall I expect this to be one of the lighter streams, with a smattering of moments where we remember that, oh right, Tommy’s pretty actively suicidal at this point and he sees this as one of his last hurrahs.

Speaking of our boy Tommy: it's very clear we are getting closer and closer to the infamous pillar. He switches rapidly between Fight and Fawn reflexes and has mostly internalized Dream’s treatment and conditions at this point. The one stand out moment being him calling out Dream killing Mexican Dream last stream, and pointing out he was changing his story even when Dream tried to lie and say he died of “a drug overdose [...] or natural causes”. I’m curious if Tommy is going to bring it up again, and even more curious if he eventually believes Dream about it; something to watch out for, for sure. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this moment of rebellion happened right after he had someone both stand up for him and spend time with him that wasn’t actively hostile or going to end (supposedly, at least by intention)

Ok, so I know that the Iblis demon was meant as a noodle incident, and that we’re never getting more on it, but still it’s just too interesting to leave it there. We know that all of the Merry Thieves know about it, because it’s become something casual to joke about to them, but can you just imagine any of the parents overhearing and freaking out? And them getting together and getting the story out of the boys (and Anna)!? And what the story actually is?

Anyway, sorry for the mini-rant. I just had to share my feelings with someone who might use them constructively if they are in a benevolent sort of mood and not overworked or overwhelmed.

Hellooo!! First of all, WE STAN THE CHRISTOPHER AND IBLIS DEMON DRAMA! I am so mad we will never get to read about it :(( I usually make reference to it a lot in my rp account (@my-name-is-kit ) and I also wrote a bit about it in a chapter 5 of ‘The Broken Hearts’.  because I think it’s so funny. Anyway, I was wondering if this was a fic request, and though I don’t know if you wanted me to write a full-fledged fic, I decided to write a quick little scene for you (also, don’t mind my modern language usage or any mistakes; I’m tired lol):

“We shouldn’t talk about this here; my mother could hear.” Christopher said.

“Cecily is too busy with Alex. Just tell us already.”

“What more is there to tell?”

“Christopher, an Iblis demon has sent you a love letter, you must be aware of how life-changing this moment is.”

“Why is that?”

“Because,” Matthew said, annoyed. “This is your first opportunity to break a heart!”

Kit’s eyes widened. “I don’t want to break anyone’s heart!”

Cecily Lightwood was about to knock on the door to ask the boys if they would like a cup of tea  when she heard those words.

Cecily never wanted to pry in her children’s personal lives; she strongly believed they should be allowed to do as they wish (as long as nobody got hurt, of course). However, maybe it was the fact that Kit was having love problems that appalled her to such a magnitude that she could do nothing but be rooted to her spot just outside the door, that stood slightly ajar. 

Who was fancying her son and why was he so troubled at having to lead her astray? 

 “Cecy?” Gabriel whispered, frightening Cecily out of her wits. “What are you—?” 

Cecily put a finger to her lips, shushing him, before leading Gabriel away. 

“I think somebody is wishing to be courted by Kit.” Cecily said.

Gabriel’s eyes widened. “He’s barely fourteen.”

“Exactly,” Cecily said dismayed. “That’s why I find it so concerning.”

“What should we do?”

Cecily narrowed her eyes.

“We can’t keep eavesdropping." Gabriel said. "That’s an invasion of his privacy.”

Cecily remained silent.

“Cecy?” 

“They left the door open.” She pointed out. “Only fools would have a private conversation and be so foolish as to ignore the fact that the door is open. And besides, this is for Kit’s own good.”  

“I don’t know, Cecily…”

“Gabriel, you know me. I wouldn’t do this unless I thought something was the matter. It’s not like Kit to worry about these things. Ha, he wouldn’t even realize a girl was fancying him! There’s something about this conversation that bothers me, and I’m not going to just ignore it.”

Gabriel looked at her for a second longer before sighing. “Fine, you win.”

“Could we stop talking about this?” Christopher said, uncomfortable with the fact that they were discussing this in his home, where somebody might overhear.

“Actually, this is sort of serious, Kit.” James said. “How many letters have you received already?”

“Three.”

“Three?!” The rest of the Merry Thieves repeated. 

“It’s alright, Kit. You just have to tell her—er, it—that you don’t feel the same way.” Thomas said.

“That’s so boring.” Matthew drawled, before facing Christopher. “You must tell it that it could never be, for you were born enemies.”

“Did you think I didn’t tell it that?” Christopher hissed. “It proceeded to write ‘you shall be the Juliet to my Romeo’.”

James furrowed his eyebrows. “Why are you Juliet?” 

“I don’t think it reads Shakespeare.” Christopher shrugged. 

 “Why do they keep calling her ‘it’?”  Cecily whispered to Gabriel.

Gabriel shrugged, “maybe it likes it that way?”

 “What are you going to do?” James asked.

“I don’t know!” Kit paused before continuing in a lower voice. “It said it was going to kidnap me, and I don’t want to be kidnapped. I like my life here. I don’t want to live in Hell.”

 Cecily exchanged a confused glance with Gabriel.

“What the hell?” Gabriel whispered.

 “Have you told it about Demon Pox?”

“No! I don’t want to talk to it anymore. I’m hoping it might forget.”

Matthew tsked. “Christopher, that Iblis demon isn’t going to forget about you anytime soon.”

“WHAT?!” Cecily said, bursting into the room.

Kit’s face turned phantom white. “Hi mam.” He whispered, trying to force a wobbly smile.

Hello! My answer for just the first one got STUPID LONG so I think I'll just answer that one! If anyone has any burning desire for the others, please re-send! Otherwise sit back, buckle in, because your big sis is here to tell you an exciting tale of Early Fandom Lore.

F. Fanfiction - What got you into fanfiction?

My origin story is as an elementary school kid utterly obsessed with 'Xena: Warrior Princess'. I found myself in one of two very entrenched factions: I was a Shipper- we were team Xena/Ares. The other side? Those were the Subbers- they thought there was subtext going on with Xena/Gabrielle. Any other ships were considered minority ships and they didn't really get a camp name. Back then ships got along pretty well (or at least, better than they do now). There was some ribbing now and again but all in good fun. The rhetoric was much tamer, more reasonable. We were all here to have fun and be silly in each other's company. I digress, though...back then there was no true centralized place for fandom. Yahoo!Clubs was a big RP and casual gathering spot, a few other major hub sites that no longer exist whose names I've forgotten. But really the meat and potatoes of fandom were personal websites. Back then, places like Geocities and Angelfire were handing them out for free like candy. And those folks who had sites that became popular because they uploaded show soundclips, transcripts, screencaps, official photos (listen, that shit was a feat back then- no one had Millions of Colors monitors and scanners were a thousand bucks. and GOOD QUALITY AUDIO??? those are big files, which costs money, and bandwidth, and TIME waiting to upload/download- all fancy shit to offer!), invested actual money into them which became major major sites whose addresses everyone knew by heart. But especially, especially, what they had...were Fanfiction Libraries. Sites would come up with fancy elaborate names for their libraries, like 'Village Depository' or 'Scrolls of the Bard' or whatever you can think of-- this is where the fics were kept!! Most peoples' site libraries had a little bit of everything- gen fic, ship fic, AU ('Xena' started the AU because they actually did it as one-off episodes on the show now and then, which nobody else had ever done because it was too batshit tbh. Back then we called them 'Ubers', so you'd have Uberfics set in like, I don't know, NYC circa 1999 or something. Xenites came up with the name, and the showrunners saw it and ran with it, no pun intended), but the crux of it was that every site's fic library was different. YOU, the writer, had to submit your story to a site to be added. Sure, if an author was tenacious enough (and many were), you could see the same fic across a couple sites. But mostly folks picked one or two and that's where they posted. That's where they updated if it had sequels or parts (no chapters back then- you wrote everything at once like men. The best fic I to this day have ever read is still "The Great Wall" by Jade which is 65 pages long and is one of the funniest fucking things I've ever read in my entire life). So, if you ever wanted to add a sequel to a story or add a new story to the story list under your name, you'd have to keep track of every fan site you were on (they moved addresses a lot, too) and send a copy of your new work to every site owner's email, pray the size didn't make it bounce, and hope to god they were still maintaining their site. This led to the natural evolution of fansites that became famous for their libraries shifting to being fic-focused and cutting out all the other stuff. To continue in the same vein, Shippers knew Illyandria's Forest of Fiction had one of the biggest stashes of shipper fics in the fandom. Authors were fighting to be on her site. Me being a little kid and new at all this still wanted to be a great and wonderful writer like all the other people whose stories I was reading. However, I kept my ambitions modest. If I remember correctly, I got a single story listed on Xena.com which, while not an official site of any kind, sort of filled that gap as a lowkey dependable site for broad news and fandom services like libraries, links/site directories, webring hubs, and later free email accounts. THIS gave me a taste for it all, it got my toes wet, and while I still knew I wasn't really that great (I could see my own flaws a mile away), it gave me

something to work towards- being good enough, one day, to have stories listed on The Big Sites, to have people email me to say they loved this or that, to maybe even end up like Melissa Good: your fic formally published (That's right, kids- Xena fans did it first, again!) and to BE HIRED, BY THE SHOW, to write two episodes (one of which is the heavily shipper 'Coming Home', so we stan). Being in the big fic libraries DID THINGS! And the little stars twinkled and shone in my tiny baby eyes and I wanted to do it! After a long amount of time, and the voracious reading of many many books (especially Anne Rice and Robin McKinley who are major influences on my writing style), I was able to actually finally do it. These days, though, the playing field has changed. Fic libraries got funneled not long after into FF.net, which got funneled again into Ao3 where paranoia reigns supreme with its own legal team, which is an odd taste in the mouth after coming from a fandom like Xena where the show's Production actively engaged with the fanbase and even hired us when they liked what we were doing. My fandom after 'Xena' was 'Farscape' which also, while not hiring fans to my knowledge, also had a Production team that was super super active with the fanbase and that kind of closeness led to all sorts of record-breaking which I don't have time to get into (long story short we broke OG Startrek's record for biggest letter writing campaign and I think we still may hold it). But regardless, all those things, big, small, fun, scary- all of it- started me out on this weird crazy constantly-shifting journey of fandom and fic, and while this post has become....incredibly long, it's been fun to look back on it all here and just see how far down the tunnel goes now. So much has changed! And yet the basics of it will never change-- we're all here to read a good tale. End of Story. <3

Unconstructive Criticism

This was mostly just practice writing Spring Heeled Jack, trying to get back into him for RP purposes.  Anyways The Terror of London has some thoughts on the latest play about him, and Aster has to put up with it.

The flash of red alerted her to his presence.  Just a little sliver of light from the closing door bouncing off the lenses of his mask.  She braced herself forcing down the surge of fear and turned to face the shadows looking decidedly non plussed.

"More riddles then?" She asked, squinting to get a better look at the figure in the darkness before the alleyway was illuminated by a brief burst of blue fire. Spring Heeled Jack, the terror of London, who spent his time assaulting women and throwing prostitutes off bridges stepped out of the shadows to loom over her.

"Perhaps, nothing better to do tonight." The imposing weight of his presence was shattered with his casual shrug.

Still as a precaution Aster began to shuffle in her pocket for the knife she carried, it was a precaution, though she always imagined using it on more terrestrial threats, not some bounding fiend who breathed and claimed to have sprung from the pits of hell itself.

“Really?" she asked, "I would have thought a charming creature like you would have a bursting schedule."

"Oh I do, but you're the lucky woman I've chosen to terrorize tonight!" He positively brimmed with energy as he spoke, like a child presenting art they were proud of. 

Aster on the other hand was less than delighted by the prospect, starting back as he moved towards her, the metallic sheen of those claws he wore caught on the light. 

"And this time I'm not going to let you off just because of technicalities." 

"It wasn't a technicality," Aster said, gathering her thoughts as quickly as she could.

Jack had been beyond talkative in their last encounter, a trait Aster could match. And so long as they were busy chatting, Aster didn't think much else would happen. 

"You asked for answers, not correct ones." He let out a terribly exaggerated sigh.

"It's the spirit of the thing love. I let you get away with it because it's very clever to notice, but we both know that's not the intent," Jack explained, walking over to Aster with quick long strides and throwing an arm over her shoulders. 

"No worries though. I've something far more important in mind." 

"That's more worrying." 

Aster had tensed at the contact, but here was an opening her grip on the knife tightened and she tried to split her attention between what the man was actually saying, and what he was wearing. 

The fabric was thick, stiff, the kind of thing a knife might not penetrate, and when he moved, she could hear some muffled metal, so more armour.

If she did end up stabbing The terror of London tonight, it would have to be In a good spot. 

"What did you have in mind then?" 

"So glad you asked!" Jack straightened, pulling away from her to pace small circles, "just some conversation really. Some questions, nothing nefarious, I assure you." 

The fanged grin on his mask was in no way assuring.  Her face must have reflected that sentiment as his shoulder’s seemed to sag in disappointment for a moment before he spoke again, conversational as ever.  

"You do work in there, don't you?" He asked, gesturing idly with a clawed hand towards the theatre's back door.  Suddenly Aster could guess what this was about. She nodded.

"I make the costumes." She clarified, although she wasn't sure if the specifics mattered.

 "The mask is off, goggles were entirely wrong." 

"It's a very tight budget," she countered, taking offence here felt petty, but she'd been rather proud of her work. 

"And it's not as if I had a visual aid." 

"You're welcome to take a closer look," Jack took a quick step towards Aster, unleashing some more of the sparks from his mask, a trick she was starting to get used to.

Aster took the challenge stepping in to get a better look at the outfit, looking up at the shining red lenses of his mask, did they glow with some light of their own?   On impulse she reached up and flicked his metal nose.

Jack pulled back with a petulant yelp and Aster couldn't help but laugh. 

"It's not your work I'm here to critique anyways!”  He groused, folding his arms and looking very childish for someone who was a head taller than her. 

“I'd like you to pass along to Mr. Laurent that he's doing an abysmal job! He hasn't captured me at all!" There was something absurd seeing this fiend from the newspaper whining over a performance in an inconsequential playhouse.

Never mind that she thought Charles was doing a fine job. Although, on consideration, Charles might have a little more gravitas then the real creature.

"Alright, care to expound on what he's doing wrong?" 

"He's just so serious, so broody, so...byronic." 

Jack practically groaned the last word and Aster had to wonder what he had against byronic heroes, or anti hero's? 

The Spring Heeled Jack of the play certainly came off as more heroic then the one in the papers. But that wasn't saying much. 

"I'll tell him to be a bit more fun in the next performance.”  She said dryly.  “Should I pass along the source of the critique?" "If you would, I may have to put in an appearance to do it myself otherwise." She had some doubts as to whether Charles would believe her of course, but she did look forward to the look on his face when she told him. 

"I’ll just go do that then, I can pop off to the pub right now."  She started moving, heading towards the street. She could use a pint, honestly.

"I'll leave you to it," Jack said, there was movement, a flash, and the alley was filled with smoke as he leapt away.  Aster retreated back into the theatre coughing as she did.  

Hopefully that wasn’t one of there smoke bombs.  But then whatever the hell Jack was, he could probably afford his own pyrotechnics.
