I've come to a conclusion:

Antisydcarmies love to say that Sydney represents the restaurant industry, so they can't be together.

It was also argued that the reason Carmy's panic attack stopped when he thought about Sydney is because she simply reminds him of work and believes in him. So, thinking about work is what calmed him.

It's suggested twice by Camy that he admits to Richie and Claire that, even though work is gnarly and gross and not always fun and requires hardwork, at the end of the day, he loves and chooses the job over anything else.

Now, about the gnarly and gross parts, it can be at times challenging in a partnership to love each other. Love can only be feelings at first and is led heavily by that at the beginning. The hormones are going off- and the heart is beating fast because of attraction. A teenage love.

But when love is no longer a feeling - or when the feeling can't be the only thing that holds it together. Love then becomes a choice. A choice to prioritize the relationship and choose to keep working on intimacy and growth on both sides, to choose to lead each day with love, the relationship deepens.

From what I recall, Chris Storer wanted to make a show where love can be shown to sometimes be kind but also ugly and complicated - which makes sense given his life story dealing with trauma and the complicated dynamics of family.

Anyway, despite it being gnarly and gross and 200 hours on and off. Requires his complete focus and nothing else. Carmy still chooses to love Sydney since she was the only one he got to choose to love in the first place. She was someone his family didn't choose for him. She's part of his found family.

Now, repurposing trauma makes sense. He loves his work and what he does, but there's trauma attached to it. Similarly, he wants to love someone and be loved, but there's trauma associated with loving someone and being loved. Therefore, he has to repurpose his trauma related to both work and relationships with Sydney, and make it beautiful and kind rather than just challenging. If he repurposes his trauma, he can start to heal and find joy and purpose in what and who he loves.

I wasn't a big buddie shipper then when I watched the "she sees me" graveyard scene and me and Eddie had the same flabbergasted expression, like tfym she sees me? The disrespect to the man who's been with you through it all? Who comforts and jokes around you when you need to smile. The one who explains for you, exasperated and fondly sighs at all your antics. Who lets you come to him instead of him pushing you? The disrespect? I was too stunned to speak. Writers, there are 2 options here:

1 - Fallout. Bank on Ryan's great delivery of "how could you be?" as in how could Buck still be the same person after dying and coming back. He made it look like he had a realization that maybe this is not his Buck anymore, everything that they had, that's down the drain and because they never took the step anyway, all they can do is regret it, and then they'll fall out, etc etc. Lemme see Eddie's pining and moving on era.

2 - More drama. Eddie moves on and accepts that Buck is with Natalia now, and when they start getting deeper into their relationship, he'll find that Nat doesn't really see him. I.E. lemme see Buck's pining era. No we don't move on, we die on this hill. Marisol and Eddie won't happen, I'm betting on this.

also im gonna be honest, while i think rdr is a fantastic game and a well written tragedy, i really dont jive with the ultimate message of "nothing is forgiven and nothing gets forgotten". i get that at the core of thing, both John and Arthur have done some pretty heinous shit and that no amount of good deeds can make up for the lives they've taken, but so many people suffer unnecessarily, including them. the whole message of "it doesnt matter if you try" is just like... man. ok i guess.

I really like the idea of the funky guys, pre-rescue, using singing to pass time - maybe tashi makes up silly little songs to make everyday chores more exciting for the kids, or eenek theaches everyone some galran songs(nobody except pal and soup really understand the words.. maybe thats for the better since i imagine galran songs that appeal to grief stricken 13 year olds arent suitable for kids lol), or pal has a memory of one of shiros favourite songs and sings it to the others, or soup hums melodies she overheard while being a gladiator to help taka fall asleep - JUST. singing as a love language.. good shit

and a very importrant thing to understand here is that none of them, een included, are good singers - theyre mediocre, bordering on pretty bad - but it doesnt matter! its about the human urge to connect! through music!! they sing their dumb songs and do stupid little dances and its great<3

post-rescue, suddenly they get access to practically infinite amounts of music from thousands of distinct cultures! but i think they generally stick to more mainstream stuff, the kind of songs you can sing along to with your family when it comes on the radio. tho buddy and taks(and also pal maybe<3) would propably explore more! .... oh. and taka definetly goes through an edgy phase at some point. so.... theres a lot of potential there
