It is honestly fascinating to me that so many folks in fandom have adopted the idea that Crowley is the one with messy wings. I guess because they made his feathers look a bit scraggly in the CGI for the show? Which I imagine the art team thought made him look more demonic/less pristine than the angel. Even though the book tells us demon wings are the ones that are generally better groomed.

there's something about the fact that charles said he never finished reading the myth of orpheus and eurydice. he references it and yet he never finished it. he looked back, not out of fear but because edwin needed to be seen. he got edwin back. they made it out of hell. he never finished the story. he is not orpheus and edwin is not eurydice.

none of you are talking abt whiskey which truthfully is such a damn shame. she was introduced and i thought she was just supposed to be the dumb blonde girlfriend - arm candy. but then she ran into helen and we immediately see how badly she wants to do more, but she feels trapped to go along with what duke does in order to build her future. shes also the only person to look at helen, who she believes is andi, and say thats shes sorry, that she was fucked over and didnt deserve what happened. dont look at me and say this character wasnt fucking fantastic

Just saw this again, and it reminded me that this specific quote is one of the main reasons why I believe in Byler endgame. 🤷‍♀️
In S4, Will is so worried that Mike will never want to hear that Will is in love with him.
To subvert that expectation, the exact opposite needs to occur
Will ended up masking his love confession by using El’s name, but that only prolongs the secrecy of his feelings
In S5 the painting lie is 100% going to come to light, and Mike is going to find out
Will’s going to have no choice but to finally tell him the truth
“I’m in love with you”
And Mike has to react to that admission of love - the love that made him feel wanted and needed and the heart
(And I know this has all been said before but, nobody should ever have wondered if Mike would react badly/homophobic to it, because if you’ve watched the show you already know that was never even a possibility)
Instead of not wanting to hear it like Will assumed, Mike is going to be over the moon happy and relieved. He’s going to subvert Will’s question: “what if they don’t like the truth?”
Mike is going to love the truth.
Basic storytelling technique waves this answer in our faces, but some people are too entrenched in heteronormativity/denial/homophobia to see or believe it

I wish asoiaf fandom could tell the difference between subverting a trope and subverting expectations because it is not the same thing. While subverting a trope is a valid and very interesting approach, subverting expectations most of the time results in bad, incoherent and actually pretty conventional storytelling because it primarily aims at eliciting emotions of shock/horror/pain instead of constructing a meaningful, original narrative with solid and thought provoking themes. You don't actually need to subvert the readers' expectations in order to subvert a trope. You don't even need plot twists to subvert a trope. These are really not the same thing at all.
Example: Dany being TPTWP instead of Rhaegar is a subverted trope. The fact that the knights actually suck and the only one who actually thinks and behaves like an ideal knight cannot be one and will never be accepted as one is also a subverted trope. fAegon, the Prince Who Surived, being a scam is also a subverted trope. The element of subverting expectations is weak in most of these, nonexistent in some of these.
Dany becoming mad, Rhaegar being revealed as a machiavellian pedophile, Jon becoming one of the Others and being killed by Arya, the prophecy being just a scam of the universe and/or Rhaegar's wet dream instead of, ahm, the only solution in the war for the dawn, all these are not subversions of any trope. These are plot twists. These subvert the reader's very valid expectations and not in a good way. They go directly against themes, characterization and narrative that has been established for the past 30 years.

"You are too much like me. A man feels less… favour for his own image reflected." [Give him his sanction…His support…His powder, his army, his control. His love. He is made in your image.] "Do you think we don't know that? He is me. All the fire and the fury, the drive. The pitiless ambition. I look into his eyes, I see myself. Do you expect me to love that?" — Rodrigo Borgia, The Borgias (2011-2013) // "You aren’t my son, you’re myself. The love I have for you is awkward for both of us. But it is greater than any love known. Even if you can’t understand it.” — Agustín Gómez-Arcos, The Carnivorous Lamb (1975)
The relationship between Rodrigo and his children is complex, but his love for his eldest son, Cesare, is the most intense of all. Cesare is a representation of Rodrigo's own generational trauma and personal flaws. Rodrigo loves Cesare deeply, but at the same time, he feels frustrated with him because Cesare serves as a mirror reflecting Rodrigo's own self-worth issues and flaws. Cesare's presence reminds Rodrigo of his own shortcomings and self-loathing, which created a complex dynamic between them. His intense love for Cesare is intertwined with this frustration, stemming from the recognition of their shared imperfections. Despite these challenges, Rodrigo still holds Cesare in high regard and has chosen him as his successor because Cesare represents both the best and worst aspects of himself.

I think it really is a testament to how good the storytelling in Kingdom Hearts is that it can make expected moments still feel significant and emotional. Like, even if I ignore the fact that I got spoiled on a lot of story-beats before I ever played the games: We knew that Xion would disappear at the end of Days. We knew that the Wayfinder trio would fall to darkness at the end of BBS. We knew that most of Xehanort's classmates would die, that Roxas would come back, that Sora would save Aqua etc and yet when it happens it's executed so well that it still feels as important as it should be. We know that Scala and the people living in it will probably be fucked at the end of Missing Link and we know that Sora will probably escape from Quadratum in KH4, but you bet I'll cry when it happens nonetheless

I think I know what yuji did in the last panel and why he smiled at sukuna...I believe that train station isn't his domain but afterlife/ limbo/cursed realm type thing....in short he sacrificed himself to split megumi and sukuna..
I think after maki stabbed sukuna in heart we saw how he also threw up, he might have realized at that moment that he was resonating with sukuna and then also awakened the shrine. He must have incorporated his ability to strike the soul in the shrine and also made the binding vow to enhance its effectiveness drastically ... I suspect the exchange must be his life..He has come up with this on the spot... Todo might have confirmed his assumption too. ..
Seeing how it's useless if he can't touch sukuna he decided to use the domain... And must have imbued his domain with soul dismantles causing sukuna to split with gumi instantly. Sukuna might have turned back into a cursed object and because of resonance sukuna is with yuji in his Yujikuna form ebecause we know yuji and sukuna souls are still connected even after separation and that's why he's with him even after supposed death.
That would explain why yuji is so calm and nice to sukuna coz he knows he has saved megumi and sukuna can't do anything now and with this he has saved lives and stopped merger too. Fulfilling his promise to his grandpa... And he won't be dying alone too...
Aside from jokes and memes I found yuuji being calm and inviting sukuna very strange like why would he forget everything sukuna made him go through everything, my first thought was maybe it's yuji's memory thing he did with choso and todo but sukuna's expression refutes that. And there is a high chance they will be having convo in the next chap so this is the only reason I can think of..
