polyam! ghostface || chapter 1
A/n- Masterlist
tw: animal death, creepy behavior from Stu & implied assault!
series desc. Stu spares most of the details when he tells Billy about you. He spares maybe too much detail, as he tells Billy that he made a friend in the city and not the fact he met an honest to god serial murderer. He figures he’ll talk about that one when the topic arises.
Stu spares most of the details when he tells Billy about you. He spares maybe too much detail, as he tells Billy that he made a friend in the city and not the fact he met an honest to god serial murderer. He figures he’ll talk about that one when the topic arises.
. . .
Their friendship begins in 1994. Well, not exactly. Stu is freshly 16 and finally has his drivers license. He only really needs it to get to the main part of town, at that point it’s easier walking everywhere. What’s a license and car good for if it spends most of its warranty stuck on the property? He thinks it’s bullshit. He’s also reckless and still a kid.
He decides, before he’s even fully confident in driving, to go to the nearest big city from Woodsboro. That means the roving hills of San Francisco. Maybe it terrifies him a little- not that he’ll admit it- but it’s thrilling, so he doesn’t take a U-turn back home.
He’s old enough that a few remarks and suave confidence usually gets him into places he shouldn’t be, along with a fake ID- and if that doesn’t work, a show of what’s in his wallet usually does the trick.
He meets you in a club. Or- Stu sees you from afar and thinks you’re cool, but doesn’t say hi. There’s this dangerous, nervy edge to you, that he enjoys simply observing. You’re different from these other party goers. He gets a drink and when he goes back to his seat in the corner to watch you, you’ve already slipped out the back door.
He never brings Billy up with him to the city- despite being good friends, maybe even best friends, if guys are allowed to do that sort of thing. Nothing makes Billy nervous. Nothing that Stu is aware of yet.
(Billy’s fine. He’s stone-walled and flirts with danger like it’s no one's business. And then his mom takes off in the middle of the night, with two hastily packed suitcases, leaving him alone. He’s 14 when this occurs.
He’s freaked he’ll never be found again. A mothers love will go to any length to make sure their baby is okay- Billy’s not enough to make his mom love him.
He also hates leaving Woodsboro- that one is irrational. He doesn’t get it himself.)
Stu’s up late, flipping through channels, when he stops on the news. Another man is found with his throat slit in the SF Bay. Authorities aren’t sure if they’re connected yet. It’s too early to say, but it looks like California might have a new serial killer on the loose. That should scare Stu, he gets excited about the possibilities. He loves horror and he’s engrossed in slashers- he’s never thought how human blood must feel between his fingers. He gets giddy and has to calm himself down- he takes a hunting knife from his dad’s collection and skins a stray dog in the woods.
He’s been up to the city a few times throughout the year since his brief- strangely exhilarating, yet fraughtless and boring- encounter with you. He hadn’t been back to that specific club though. There hasn’t been any more news about dead bodies- a part of him, a sick part, wishes there'd be more talk about it, more pictures. He wonders if he went up to the city and waded in the cold waters- if he’d find a dead body. Wonders what a dead person looks like up close.
Woodsboro doesn’t have any killers or crazy crime. Though there has been an uptick in wild animal deaths.
It’s the end of the year, nearly. Which means he’s nearly 17. He’s at Billy’s dad’s apartment, while said dad is out working. He’s lying with his back on the bed, Billy half-listening to whatever moronic rambles Stu’s on about.
Billy sits on the floor, reorganizing a collection of comic books and CDs. He interrupts Stu, not looking up at him. “Have you ever thought about killing a person?”
It’s not very tactful- he learns to be better with that. Stu seems unfazed.
Stu shrugs. “Yeah, sure. Why you asking, man?”
He speaks like it’s easy to admit.
Billy scowls to himself, thinking.
Stu disrupts that thought train, because of course he does. “It can’t be that different from killing animals.” Except he thinks it would be more fun. He’s getting excited. His hands itch and ache with the thought.
“Geez,” Billy lets out, too surprised. “That’s fucking ruthless, man.”
Stu sits up, just enough to turn his head to look at his friend. He twists his face, raising a brow in genuine confusion. “What?”
Billy gives him a look.
“What? You asked, dude.”
It’s a frustrating exchange- Billy laughs. Fucking laughs. It stirs on a reaction from the other boy. It so . . . fucked up and they’re laughing. This is a catalyst to their relationship.
“Stu, do you not see the issue?”
He gets a shrug and a wild grin in response. He smiles to himself and then turns to look at Stu, who’s fully sat up now, who looks onwards into his eyes, awaiting in intrigue, hanging onto Billy’s next word. It feels nice.
Billy tells Stu about a plan he has. Stu’s on board with little questions asked. Perhaps no real questions asked- he asks about the methods, if they would get to wear some sort of costume like they do in film, he asks when do they start like this was an interview for a job. He doesn’t ask Billy why he wants this.
Shortly after his seventeenth birthday, Stu goes back up to the club. He gets a short sort of vague warning from his mom to be careful- that there’s an investigation going on for recent killings in the area. He doesn’t say this- but he knows. He’s been obsessed with watching the news. It’s usually on late night that new stuff is announced. He guesses it makes sense- it’s not really daytime media, a daytime event. He’s kept track of each man found dumped in the water, evidence drained clean. Suspect still at large. A pattern that still needs to be found.
He doesn’t say it- but he has clippings taped on his wall from The San Francisco Chronicle, detailing how the victims were killed. How skin with jagged edges came to be, how likely it was that some of the men hadn’t even died yet before being pushed to the water. Bleeding out and struggling to swim up in freezing temperatures. Whoever was behind this knew what they were doing.
He goes up to the city knowing this- and partially because of it. He doesn’t think at all about you, though. He’s mostly forgotten about you by now. He’s more focused on the future killing of Maureen Prescott towards the end of the school year.
He goes to this club because he knows it’s easier to get into than some of the other ones he’s been to over the past year. He gets a drink and people watches in the corner. He doesn’t really care to join in with dancing or chatting girls up. He’s had enough of french kissing guys in empty bathrooms. He can do most things here that he’d have more fun doing in Woodsboro.
Except maybe kissing guys- but that was tiring. The only boy he wanted to kiss was his best friend, anyway.
He notices you out of the corner of his eye. You’re having a verbal altercation with an older man- it’s quiet, he only recognizes it for what it is because you push him away, and your face is scowling, and your hands are shaking. He recognizes a split-second of darkness in your eyes, not far off from how Billy looked, when they were sat in Stu’s room, pinkies brushing against each other, as they talked and looked at the massacre of clippings on his walls.
The man is pushy, angry. Stu doesn’t think to step in at first. Shit happens. He’s not about to mess with things. He quite likes watching it, anyway. Which is fucked up, Billy would let him know that- he’s Stu’s moral compass. He feels a sort of jealousy seeing you pushed out the back door, into the alley. It perks him up from his glass, he abandons it in his corner spot. He follows the interaction in quick steps.
The alleyway is a maze. It doesn’t empty out neatly into a long stretch. He has to turn the corner before he’s actually in it. That’s where he sees you.
You’re pressed against the wall; not struggling anymore, but your body still shakes at the edges. The man is slumped over your frame. He’s violently pushed to the ground- and this is- it’s dangerous.
Stu could very well be dead now.
You’re standing there panting and holding a bloody knife as you catch your breath over the body of a dead man.
You hear Stu take a few steps forward, your head shooting up with wide eyes.
“Oh, shit.” The two teens say in sync.

The fact that Dr Zayne is saving people who want to live
And Dawnbreaker Zayne is mercy killing people who want to die
And both are obsessed/disturbed with each other across space and time
Really has me fucked up in a lot of ways and I'm not okay about any of this

high profile megacelebrity luo binghe who is deeply in love with his acting coach(sj)’s younger brother, shen yuan. sy is literally Just Some Guy compared to lbh—he’s had a couple recurring minor roles on popular tv shows and a number of award winning stage performances, but he turns down movies, interviews, tv main character roles, etc.
he turns down basically every role he’s offered until his asshole friend asks him to voice the teacher in his in-progress xianxia video game. sy’s been tearing the story to shreds since airplane first brought it to him, so he agrees.
(it’s only so he can see firsthand what a nightmare it’ll be!! definitely not because airplane is his closest friend and of course he wants the project to succeed and knows that his name unfortunately carries a liiiitle bit of star power)
it’s not until he arrives in the studio to get covered in little mocap balls that he realizes who else is in this stupid disaster of a game. luo binghe (his favorite actor??? airplane you asshole why didn’t you SAY luo binghe was playing the lead???????). video game set romance ensues.

No but seriously. Imagine retired assassin Killua just wanting to have peace because he's so done. but he befriends Gon and he thinks Gon is the light the way the truth the life. But Gon turns out to be a reckless careless serial killer and his kills are so messy, he gives Killua anxiety because Gon can totally get caught if Killua wasn't there to teach him how to be discreet lol so basically he ends up teaching Gon the assassin way of killing quietly.

the fixation of fandom these days on there always being a Black and a White. A Right and a Wrong. A Villain and a Victim. is soooo fucking tragic and frankly REALLY DAMN ANNOYING
especially in stuff where like..if THAT'S your priority? you've missed the entire damn point. and yet it always is. so loudly.
look beyond your blorbo. your kintype. your CC. your f/o. look beyond your otp. look beyond your found family dynamic and actually absorb what's going on with the other characters. i'm begging.
honestly do a study on the characters you hate most or care about the least. take a half an hour to put yourself in their shoes
no this isn't an anti-shipping, anti-kinning, anti-selfship, or anti-blorboing post, because i don't think those are the things that inherently ruin characters or tags or whatever other ppl think. but if you do do that, it'll make it even better if you look at a larger scope beyond that as well I promise
#txt#like i believe in ppl approaching fandom however you want as long as youre not actively hurting ppl#but i just cant stand to see nuance die just for the sake of being unwilling to look at a different perspective than the bias#it also sucks ppl feel like they cant like flawed characters anymore because suddenly that means they Condone Real Life Abuse or whatever#what if we took a step back and remembered that fiction is for entertainment and not here to be Morality 101#you should be getting that elsewhere or from idk shows literally made for toddlers if any fiction#people have been enjoying villains and flawed characters and characters with different moral compasses in general for as long as fiction ha#existed and i promise that's not what makes someone evil or whatever#everyone out there doing shitty shit feels enabled because of their circle of ppl or powers-that-be enabling them#and sometimes pretty directly!#not because the fictional serial killer said some deep shit about the nature of man and ppl vibed with the mood or because#the fictional war monger looked kinda sexy while doing his shit#bateman joker tyler durden fanboys who made one or more of those men their fictional jesus or whatever were always doomed to be Like That#the joker didnt crawl out of their TV and brainwash them directly into shitheads#everyone who ever blames or claims some fictional shit Inspired them is just giving an excuse for something that was always and already in#their heart for other reasons i swear that to you

I love your works, especially the serial killer ghoap ones. I’ve had this thought on my mind for a bit. It’s not really dark, more fluffy(?) I just started playing ACNH again and it got me thinking, would serial killer ghoap let reader have a switch? I mean, poor reader has seen so much shit and needs at least a little bit of normalcy in their life. Ofc ghoap would monitor them while they played and such, which leads me to my next part. Let’s say reader has gotten stockholm syndrome and isn’t super phased by all the gore in stuff. Reader just sits in a little corner that maybe has pillows or blankets OR a cage that has pillows and blankets and shit like that. But reader just stays in that corner playing their switch while ghoap does their murder stuff. Idk, I feel it’d be a cute image. Ghoap just torturing someone while reader sits in a corner playing animal crossing. Sorry for rambling, I just really wanted to share this thought. Drink water and make sure to eat ❤️❤️❤️
someday i'll write the serial killer fic. i have a full outline of it. i have like 1k done. it EXISTS ok i PROMISE and i WILL post it. eventually
but in the meantime! questions are fun! (also tysm for saying you love my stuff, ily)
i think they'd absolutely let her have a switch <3 in exchange for good behavior
my reader inserts tend to be massive pushovers (mostly in an attempt to not give them so strong of a personality as to be distracting) but the serial killer girl is soft. i think the contrast of really rough ghoap with really soft reader is Primo.
but i also think ghost and soap would fucking eat UP having a soft little thing to take care of. i think this version of them would really get off on the corruption of it all, coming to their girl covered in blood and watching her try to keep her stuffies from getting stained red :( they loooove watching her get all teary and sniffly when they make her watch them torture people, love watching the way she tries to hide her pretty face :(
so of course they let her have a switch! they looove hearing her talk about all her little villagers, love when she tentatively shows them her new island setup <3
and that second part - do you know how hard johnny would get if he was torturing someone and saw his girl completely tuned out and just playing her little game? she'd be lucky if he didn't bend her over right then and there

one of the few moments between them where they threaten to break the act down.
he knows the answer to the first question; do you believe that? have you ever believed that? all she can do is stare at the floor, almost like she’s been caught. because she doesn’t. and he knows she doesn’t.
her role in this thing that they do is to not believe in aliens. she answered him on that first day, does she believe in the existence of extraterrestrials? she had to say no.
she can’t answer him this time, though. she stares at the floor. but he knows.
he knows the answer to the second question too, though. what do you think happened to her?
scully can stand in front of him and tell him that he’s just being emotional all she wants. tell him that it’s manipulation, that it’s impossible.
but her role in this thing is that she is the rational one, and he knows what the rational thing to think about 8 year old girls who disappear from their homes and don’t come back is.
even if it’s not this killer, even if it’s not this man, the rational thing to think is that it’s another.
so after four years of seeking and chasing and following after as he walks into the same room every day, as he wants to believe, what does she believe? what is she really saying when she says no, she doesn’t believe in the existence of extraterrestrials?
and can they keep the act up, when this is what it means?

Okay, going into #bsd fyodor tag is still impossible for me :/
Look, I love Bram a lot, but how are people saying that Fyodor somehow killed Bram??
'Cause if you see it in order:
Bram orders his vampire to kill Fyodor -> Fyodor dies -> Crime and Punishment activates -> He becomes Bram
So, in this case, (cuz we do have a lot of other things to blame Fyodor for lmao) but in this particular case, what are we blaming Fyodor for lol? Dying? Getting killed by Bram? His ability activating involuntarily?
Dazai literally says this:
Tumblr media
Meaning, Fyodor has no control over his ability. He becomes whatever or whoever kills him, so he has been morbidly molding his masterplans around his own DEATH all along! He was frantic because he feared he will be MURDERED by the wrong person!
No wonder, he wants a world without abilities! Because, no matter what, he just cannot DIE. No wonder, he says this. He almost sounds envious other humans can die so easily?
Tumblr media
Also, did he manipulate Bram into killing him? No. Fyodor has not made contact with Bram at all. He let Bram do whatever he wanted. Bram was under direct control of Fukuchi, btw. And, it was Ranpo who asked Bram to kill him with one of his vampires.
In fact, Fukuchi says he locked up Fyodor faraway in prison so, he won't interfere in any of Fukuchi's plans.
I mean, once again, this panel:
Tumblr media
.
Sorry I am salty, but I guess seeing him as a demon who feels no pain in killing others or even himself (rather than the fact that he has been killed who-knows-how-many-times over the centuries yet is unable to "die" and be set free from the world -- this has made him completely desensitized to the idea of pain felt over death) makes it easier for everyone to plot out the next plan for "its" the demon Dostoyevsky's death.
.
Murder is the activation condition for his ability god just just think about it?
He might have lived his whole life as a normal ability-less person
until the day he was......... killed
I wonder if he died a death of natural causes, his ability would never ever have activated??? idk
but this also carries the heavy implication that he has never died a death of natural causes.
Only murdered by another human every. single. time.

okay so the thing that's making me throw up blood from my old notes
i have long maintained that loki is subtly but insidiously treated like a servant (or slave) by his family. but of course that prompts the question: what kind of servant is he? he's clearly not a domestic servant. he is a warrior, but his role as a warrior seems, at least officially, on par with his peers. and he hasn't come into his role as puppet king yet. until canon begins... his role, his service, his usefulness, seems to be defined by companionship to thor. by love.
in TDW, loki watches prisoners being brought into the dungeon and says, sarcastically, "odin continues to bring me new friends. how thoughtful."
and on one level, loki is trying to draw attention to his terrible conditions, including near-total isolation. but he's also equating himself to the other prisoners. and... he refers to friends. to a father giving his child prisoners as a gift. that's not just sarcasm. that is, in a way, what loki is to thor.
and yes. i know. i know exactly how the prisoner-companion-gift thing sounds. to be clear, i don't think there's any actual sign of thor and loki's relationship not being platonic. there is sometimes rape imagery around loki, sometimes involving members of his family, but i think what it's really meant to convey is abuse/humiliation/violation plus gendered power dynamics. basically everything but the sex itself.
but. i would argue it is no less fucked up for being platonic. perhaps, in a way, even more so. because if this were sexual abuse, loki could, potentially, draw a distinction between the physical and the emotional, and decide that it was only physical.
but there IS no physical side. there is ONLY the emotional, and loki is being manipulated and conditioned so his emotions are what his captors want them to be. he's not being forced to partake in an intimate physical act symbolic of love, he's just outright being forced to love. no symbolism, no proxy, no dissociation, no escape.
it's all-encompassing and yet far subtler for it. it's a profound and insidious form of abuse with almost nothing concrete he can point to and say: here is what they did to me.
loki is a servant who isn't allowed to act like a servant. no professional distance, nothing to shield his heart. and he is a servant who still has to fear his lord, but cannot show it too openly. because instead he has to show love. thor's imperiousness is more immediately visible than loki's deference. loki's lowliness is quiet and normalised. he fades into the background. gaslit and silenced. they own his heart!!!
and on top of that, this is a household where openly displaying love is a form of weakness and subservience too. loki is the only one who can actually bring himself to say the word love. his parents and his brother do not. they say: you are my son. you are my brother. you are mine. and they expect it to be an equal comfort.
what happens to a family when one of the children is the parents' prisoner of war? what happens to a prisoner who is raised to see their captors as their family? how can you love them - and how could you not? how can you ever learn to see love as anything but a horrifying violation on the most fundamental level? and how could you not long for it, even so?
