she was always cheerful and positive even in her worst moments. despite how scary and painful her illness could be and how much she missed earth and the rest of her family she still made the best of her situation and genuinely believed that she'd get to go home someday
she was very smart for her age and also a bit of a nerd (said lovingly of course). she loved to learn and even helped gerald with some of his projects. she was excited to go to space even if her parents were apprehensive about it. she got so excited about the aurora borealis that she overexerted herself running down the hallways getting shadow to come see it.
its also somewhat implied that she had an interest in (or just wasnt particularly bothered by) things that are considered weird or scary. she was fully aware that shadow was part alien and didnt love him any less for it even if others might consider him to be a monster. when a bunch of experiment monster things broke out of geralds lab and her and shadow had to track them down she said she thought they were cute.
i think she'd also have to be pretty brave to save shadow's life like she did. she also stood up to black doom when they met in white space while gerald said nothing. in geralds video message to shadow warning him about the black comet maria cuts in and says that her and shadow will protect the planet together. in her final moments she just wanted the people on earth to be happy
but sure she has no personality or joy or whimsy or whatever i guess
it's really weird to me the way people have been talking about maria lately.... like i know maria wasnt the most developed character in her earlier appearances and she also didnt get to have a normal childhood experience but seeing people say she has no personality and has no joy or whimsy or never got to be a kid at all makes me wonder if im the only person whos actually been paying attention to maria this whole time...???? like do people think she was a sad miserable kid who never got to have fun because of her disability or something ? because that is quite literally the opposite of who she was
and people are being weirdly ableist about it too like talking like her illness is the reason for all those traits she supposedly lacks. implying disabled people cant be happy or have fun or whatever. like come on man

Maybe i just joined the fandom space way later than everyone else, but i swear to god the WaCa fandom is only this up in arms about how "ugly" and "deformed" and "disgusting" Moonpaw is/will be as a result of incest because she is confirmed to be a chimera.
I never saw this same kind of behavior when Graystripes parents were mistakenly made siblings. Nor with Ashfur and Squirrelflight, even after the fandom pointed out that theyre half-uncle and niece. I didnt see it with Fernsong and Ivypool. I didnt see it with Birchfall and Whitewing. I didnt see it with Dewnose and Sorrelstripe.
"Maybe its because theyre first cousins?" But no, because Dustpelt and Ferncloud are uncle and niece, directly related to Robinwing.
I believe the fandom only cares about the fact the parents are related here because in their mind it gives them "an excuse" to be disgusting about her chimerism. With any other characters, it's just another instance of the writers being incompetent. With Moonpaw, "it's why she's so fucked up".
Yes, they hate her because she's a result of an incest, but I'm starting to become convinced they're only this vocal about it because of how she looks. They don't truly care she's inbred, they only care that they have "a good reason" to be ableist.
This being said as a victim of incestual abuse. Cousin and cousin, just like Thriftear and Bayshine.
Is this a bad take? Am I grasping at straws? Is this just an effect of avoiding the fandom for so long? SOS
You're not grasping at straws. I think you're right on the money, honestly.
Something a lot of people don't seem to understand is that a lot of bigotry is not overt. Ableists don't usually run around saying they want all disabled people to be thrown off cliffs (when they get to that point we're in SERIOUS danger), but they DO grab your wheelchair's handles, or speak over you when you're stuttering, or assume you're stupid or dangerous. It's usually implicit biases, and structural inequality.
This is why humor is so good at revealing these internal biases. You may not believe you're classist, you might have friends from Alabama, or Durham, or Wales, but what accent do you give your "stupid" character if you're telling a story? Why are the accents of "poor" regions associated with low intelligence?
So to bring it around-- why did we see the spike in "jokes" about "ugly inbreeds" for our very first character with a confirmed genetic condition?
I've been in and around this fandom since 2008, and I've NEVER seen another character get talked about like this. Mind you, Graystripe was the child of a sister and a brother for a LONG time, too, from 2009 to 2016 (maybe even later, I don't remember exactly when the modern tree was released). And no one did it with Bristlefrost, either, in spite of there being a pretty huge uproar about her parents being distantly related.
No one else. Just the chimera. "No wonder she looks like that" and "here she is with a hapsburg jaw" and "she'd be so slurs she'd be icky."
Characters without disability, no congenital conditions, nothing = "Ugh damn writers and their incompetence strikes again. God they need to get some fresh blood in here"
(moonpaw) = "EWW NO WONDER!! WHEN WILL THE GENE POOL BE BLEACHED"
There's also the incredible irony of the fact that like. moonpaw has a common tortie fur pattern and heterochromia. you don't even need to show an ableist an actual congenital condition, you can suggest a normal face is disabled and they will lose their minds. Bigotry rots your brain.
Also, just, as a closing note, as usual the bigot is incorrect. Chimerism and inbreeding have literally nothing to do with each other. There is no link between chimerism and inbreeding. they are once again confusing chimerism and mosaicism and trying to whine It's Just Biology because you told them their joke wasn't funny.

Trigger warning for mentions of fetishization, pro-c for non-con stuff, paras, and like very little of cult tactics, nothing with much detail I believe. Sorry if i tagged these wrongly, I'm not really good at putting trigger warnings.
Lol, im in the rq community but its like really confusing, i dont agree with some terms that fetishize people and invalidate others but some parts are i agree with too so its weird.
Im not sure if i should leave and even if i do where do i exactly go i dont really know, also some of these terms really help me to explain and express my non-human identity better, and stuff like that. (i only have id with transbody terms that go like 'wanting to have more eyes' or 'wanting to be taller' due to non-humanity, im not sure if that is wrong. Because these terms really would be okay and very nice in my eyes if they werent soo,, interwined with pro-c for non-con paras and actual fucked up shit.)
Also the community is meant to be anti-harasment, which is what i am, knowing that harassment on the internet wont really work in anyway. Though the community is extreme (this goes for antis too, both sides are very extreme which sometimes wants me to just stay in the middle of it.) And people in the rq tend to ignore the pro-harassment rq's by saying stuff like 'oh theyre not actually rq' and that on itself sounds like very problematical to me. Maybe not just me, i have no idea.
I also thought of id as transabled due to my heavy signs of BIID, (though i am not diagnosed so it might be something else, so i wont self diagnose for now since it might be a placebo effect due to my legs not functioning well in the first place) but the things it implied was just,, not something i would like to be associated with. So idk if that makes me unvalid or anything of that.
Im so fucking confused and i dont really like the fact i am so confused and kind of not fitting for both sides and being neutral seems,, y'know,, ignorant to me because both sides have their extremes and problems, so god i have no idea.
Also i did notice rq community using ways that are like,, weird, and i have experienced cult tactics and when i noticed it literally didnt go away so yeah. And that certainly something I don't want to be associated with and harms me too.
Its weird, i have no idea, wa.
Also i quite literally dont care whos origin is what, i used to be heavily endogenic but after a while i was like,, 'dude i cant change these people nor should i can encourage possible harmful things to them and the plural community' and decided to be neutral especially because i have a traumagenic system of 750+ with some alters still heavily anti-endo and some pro-endo. Which again makes me feel like i will not be welcomed elsewhere.
I have talked to a few anti-rqs about my experience but idk
Also i have multiple paraphilic disorders and Paraphilias without disorders, so im not sure if i will be affected in the other communities since of my paraphilic disorders.
So sorry this is like very long, i apologize if i made y'all uncomfortable,, it was not what i intended.
first of all, I will just repeat what I tell every radqueer that comes into our inbox: think about if you really want to be part of and support a movement that inherently supports pro-c paraphiles of all kinds, is racist, ableist and whatnot. you simply can't on one hand call yourself radqueer and on the other hand pick and choose the parts of the community you like. if you use that label, you are supporting the WHOLE community, end of the story. of course there are disgusting people in every community, but it's different with radqueers - for example, there are quite a lot if pro-c zoophiles who are also therians and claim to be part of the therian community. BUT the therian label in itself is strictly against that and will never ever accept those people. the radqueer label however is inherently supportive of and welcoming to pro-c zoos, pedos and necros. and that's the difference. that's why you are still supporting those people even if you only use the term radqueer. please realize there are alternative terms you can use for the same experiences, which are not associated with radqueers and/or are coined by folk who are openly anti radqueer and anti transid.
aside from that, being neutral or unaligned is 100% a path you can choose! always put your own comfort and safety first and if the discourse stresses you out too much, you can always just back off.
I don't have too much to add honestly, to me it seems like you are THIS close to truly realizing how horrible the radqueer community actually is - I mean, you even noticed the cult tactics. but it is on you to take the final step and get out and I promise you, if you do, you will be welcomed by us antis and other communities!
[I won't comment on the endo system part, since we don't do syscourse topics here]

Im not looking to pick a fight here I just want to express something.
I see a lot of posts with a declaration like "this is for physically disabled people only, dont make this about mental health, neurodivergents dont interact". And it just doesnt sit well with me.
It could be that Im not seeing what this is a reaction to.
Bodies and brains arent separate. Our bodyminds are one big set of feedback loops.
Firstly brains are physical organs. We dont know exactly how to see thoughts on a scanner but theyre somehow made of neurons and electricity and brain stuff. Maybe even brain stuff that we cant currently detect or measure. But it is physical because what else could it be? We're made out of meat.
Second. Trauma is stored in the body. Anxiety partly is stored in muscle tension. Mental illness and neurodivergence manifests physically. In headaches and stimming and tension and bad sleep, fatigue, impaired executive function, skin picking and handwashing and fine motor skills and likely many other things I dont have as much knowledge of.
And physical disabilities affect the mind too. Frustration, anger, helplessness, distress, pain, loneliness, fatigue, brain fog. Trauma. Likely other things I have less knowledge of.
And yes some disabilities are more accepted and/or accommodated. We all have different experiences and I think we like to think other people have it easier, if only I was disabled this other way Id have my needs better fulfilled.
And in some cases theres truth to it. We all have different experiences and no one should talk over anyone else about their own lives.
And, we all live in an ableist society that isnt set up for us and we all struggle in different ways to different degrees. We're also not all that different.
Like if one person is talking about how they cant go to the shops because they dont have the mobility necessary, and someone with agoraphobia chimes in and says I also hate that I cant go shopping, congratulations you have something in common to talk about. The source of your difficulties and what would allow you to negate or manage those barriers are very different, but you have the same struggle.

hey girl* i want tk get into will wood but i just Dont know where to start. theres so Much Thing and that is so scary. Hell
well my friend you have come to the right (or maybe entirely wrong)place...imm going to put this under a cut because it is So Long
ok i personally listened to the normal album and then everything else all out of order which is. a way you could do it. you could also just put his entire discography on shuffle i have a playlist for that but that will give you so much whiplash because every single song he does is in a different genre. so um listen to everything is a lot first and then the normal album. and then everything else that is my personal reccomendation as a certified william wood stan or whatever you people think of me as. also. this is a good liveshow and so is this one. and here r some individual live covers of released songs or renditions of unreleased songs that i like : x x x x x. and also if you want some individual song recs : red moon (this song is ridiculously underappreciated so im putting it at the top. ITS SO GOOD), thermodynamic lawyer (tw um he talks about abuse and stuff and theres one line thats ableist if you squint but if ur like me and dont pay attention to lyrics youre fine), laplaces angel, 6up 5oh copout, aikido but specifically the 2020 remaster, front street, a little bit mine, and if i did you deserved it, euthanasia (live)(this song rearranged my brain chemistry.also tw animal death but i think thats implied by the name probably), BECOMING THE LAST NAMES (hits different if your parents are divorced) , falling up, thats enough lets get you home, blackboxwarrior, marsha thankk you for the dialectics but i need you to leave(also rearranged my brain chemistry). also um just so you know. some of these are under the will wood and the tapeworms profile. its fine theyre the same guy 👍 hope this helps unless it didnt

long rant about tumblr i wrote below the cut. i just started going on a tangent & it probably doesnt make much sense but my mind just made me feel like i Needed to post it & it was kind of cathartic to write down. just ignore this
u cant enjoy anything ever on tumblr bc it gets popular for a little while & then quickly becomes considered passé or cringe or morally problematic for arbitrary reasons . or if u begin to like something while its getting popular bc u are seeing more of it & have become interested , well actually that just means youre a poser who doesnt actually like it .
this happens with everything from films/shows , books , music , hobbies , certain aesthetics , broad concepts & themes, popular tropes or symbolism in writing , cute animals . this even happens with stuff that ppl dont "enjoy" in the same way theyd enjoy a show or a celebrity & are just like , part of who they are like being trans or nonbinary or neurodivergent or A Woman or anything .
ppl can just be like , openly misogynstic or transphobic or homophobic or ableist & no one will bat an eye bc they will just slap "white" in front of whatever minority theyre talking about , not making fun of anything to do with them being white or actually criticizing white ppl , & theres a good chance whoever saying it is white themselves & many of the ppl agreeing with them too are white . its either just thinly veiled prejudice or the terrible need Tumblr White People have to feel like theyre Seperate from the Bad Whites & that theyre the one of the Good Ones . or maybe its just the classic internet love for being shitty towards other ppl & feeling superior to them because of it
i know im probably just showing how bad my internet experience has been at least before & a sign i shouldnt be on it as much (i am working on this) bc theres probably some ppl on here in the same sort of , Tumblr Communities im in that dont see these problems at all but i have & its just frustrating . expecting the internet to change is dumb especially on tumblr where everyone & their dog thinks theyre some Avant Garde Tortured Visionary (but Not in a Cringe Gay Poet Way) who has so much Cool Ironic Next Level Sex & balks at anything earnest .

«i dont know how to tell yall this but this person is trying to comment on the arrested development of adults in the united states and theyre 100% correct. and yall are being kinda. hrm. perhaps quite bigoted about this person believing this.»
I think that conversation is bigger than Taylor Swift and would need a more serious discussion than this ramble. it's not concise or direct in its meaning, and gets lost in disparaging fans from liking Fun Pop Music™. the post reads as is as "god forbid people like simple things"
«taylor swift does write music as though shes a teenage girl and its an intentional choice not an accidental failing. its propaganda music thats targeting a specific crowd of people. those people being a very specific subset of "weird girls" who never grew out of their high school mindset. taylor swift sells the tradwife "american dream" to young women who were just alienated enough to feel like they are Not Like Other Girls, but not enough for them to be accepting of truly freakish people.»
One subset of fame is being locked in at the age you achieve it, and struggling growing past that. this is something Taylor has acknowledged, her fans acknowledge, and yes it does show in her music. some of it is on accident, but yes her music sells to a younger audience so she will write for that audience. her newest album is a mix between her older writing and younger demographic writing and it's becoming clunky as she adapts to the new style.
«she makes simple music for simple people and its like. a facet of white supremacy. it isnt just "taylor swift makes bad music" its "taylor swift makes bad music on purpose to achieve a white supremacist goal and her fans are just ignorant enough to not realize shes exploiting them.»
I. what? Taylor does not sell the tradwife American dream. while her very few ventures into activism have not been, maybe as much I would like for a star of her size, she supports legislation for the LGBTQ, for womens rights, for SA awareness and for voting. also as a business woman she very much cares about artists having business rights. is a lot of her activism self serving? completely. but she is not an industry plant alt right conspiracy. she's a milquetoast, out of touch rich white women who's very centrist (and as far as I know unless something changed, a democrat).
«fans of taylor swift, the truly dedicated fans who live and breath her music and ignore all criticism of her, they have the brains of teenagers. they are in arrested development. they did not update their worldview once they became an adult so they like very basic and easy to digest things. like taylor swifts music.»
this is really getting into ableist territory here. just say you hate people with IDs and go.
«i mean is this post not just racist? the person in the screenshot is black and commenting on a very real phenomenon and yall are making fun of them and acting like theyre saying bizarre crazy nonsense. i mean thats flat out fucking racist right? thats racist????? »
fellas is it racist to... *checks notes* disagree with a black person on a post that has nothing to do with race?
«and to caption it with "people in real life: hey man, hows it going?" as if people do not regularly talk about these things offline too. as if everyone would react the same way as you did to seeing the original post. as if im not having conversations about these kinds of topics with my family on the daily.»
"hey man how's it going" means people will not randomly disparage and speak in this manner in discussion, shut people down like they have to Obey your opinion or they're unredeemably wrong. people offline want to collaborate and share world views to have a better understanding of each other.
«idk man 0/10 post its kind of embarrassing for you to be making fun of people who have intelligent things to say just because you think the way they said it is strange. this is the fucking Freak Website we cannot be doing this. »
nothing about what you or the Oop has been very "intelligent" or based in actual source of psychology, anthropology, etc. Also intelligence is not the only value a person can have but you keep speaking like you think it is.
«you made fun of a black person for saying an intelligent thought in a "crazy" way like please. i am begging you all to think a little harder about this. »
man go outside. meet people in real life say "hey man, how's it going"

Popping in as well regarding the whole SL and DCA thing, and honestly, the op really does not like the DCA fandom as a whole it seems (poked through their talking tag out of curiosity). Like I get being annoyed that the general fnaf tag has a lot of content regarding them, but blocking tags exist for a reason. It's possible to curate your space, and complaining about it often doesn't exactly do you any good and just ends up making you more miserable.
I'll acknowledge that yeah there's been some yikes content created of them, just like any fandom has, some stemming from folks that either don't know better or others that would probably get thrown out by a majority of the fandom. But even then that content is a minority, and fandoms all have their small segments of people that create and post iffy content, doesn't mean the entire fandom enjoys/does that.
Some of their points do make me wonder if they actually fully looked into the story and its content and how some stuff is handled. A majority of the stuff in it stems from the virus, which is infecting everyone. And some of the stuff they brought up was simply memes that weren't meant to be serious and just shitposty.
Maybe it's just because the DCA and content around them is a huge comfort for me and skews my view on stuff, but OP's whole post just rubs me the wrong way. Calling someone a weirdo and ableist in public without contacting the person first to have a discussion just isn't a good move. Even if they couldn't message via tumblr, asks do exist and can be utilized if you're respectful.
Anyways, don't feel like you need to respond to this especially if it'd be stressful or anything like that, I just wanted to share my thoughts!
Tumblr didnt register my reply the first time but what it boiled down to is yeah you're right, and I really hate being lumped into a group like that as someone WITH a disassociative disorder like. Dude if you have it then you should know better than anyone that people are not their mental illnesses
I do have Autism and the DCA is a huge comfort character for me, I think that they didnt read the fic and theyre probably upset the most popular fnaf thing isnt for their character? And I get that but you can always block the tag
Also calling people names is kinda uncalled for. Go outside and feel some sunshine, dont make a callout post full of lies for attention
Ill probably block them after today and go back to reading fics and writing mine in peace tbh? Im not too big on getting involved in drama but this one genuinely upset me since the DCA fandom is really nice to people

ok heres my post about legends of tomorrow 6.06 “bishop’s gambit.” i like the title bc it reminds me of 2 xmen i love who are bishop and gambit :) actual episode was really really good. i liked sara’s blue dress a lot. loved the music in the opening scene where constantine sees all his teammates wreaking mayhem in his house. even though constantine has grown a bit kinder over the seasons he’s still cantankerous and i like that. also i liked ava’s outfit at the beginning of the episode i was a bit disappointed when she changed out of it so soon LOL. i had some issues with how this episode leaned into the trope of institutionalized mentally ill people as dangerous and monstrous but the sara stuff was good. and the mick stuff was fine.
overall the depiction of mentally ill amelia earhart was extremely dehumanizing, like not just in the writing but also the directing and acting. in the story, the characters are scared of her not because she’s mentally ill but because she’s an alien, but the narrative choice to associate being mentally ill with being a violent alien is really ableist and honestly also kind of boring and stale. leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. the show does criticize 50s mental hospitals by having that one lady talk about hysteria and electric shock therapy, but it still perpetuates ableism in a huge chunk of the story. i would have expected better of this show.
i did find spooner’s plotline in this episode really intriguing. there’s something so fascinating about how she is so firmly anti-alien and assumes theyre all evil and dehumanizes them by calling them “greenies,” yet her ability is to communicate with aliens and feel what they feel. usually that kind of hatred can’t coexist with empathy, and her power is essentially to empathize with these beings whom she hates. it will be interesting to see how that plays out in future episodes. i’m starting to suspect spooner is a modified alien-human like amelia earhart. if that’s true then she will certainly have a huge identity crisis and that will be so fun to see. i thought it was sweet when behrad gave her a pep talk and told her not to focus on the past or the future but only on the now. he’s a sweetie pie.
sara storyline was really good. especially good in retrospect because bishop puts all this emphasis on “new beginnings” and by the end of the episode we finally realize it’s because sara is in a new clone body. all throughout this episode the first time i was watching i was feeling like bishop was being too gullible and careless for taking sara at her word. but by the end i realized he could afford to be careless because he still had the upper hand by knowing she was a clone. i think that’s what’s interesting about his character, is that although he is obviously super innovative and intelligent he can also afford to be stupid at times simply because he has so much power. it was very satisfying to see sara punch his face in over and over.
the reveal at the end of the episode was so so good, i did not see it coming and it was executed perfectly. at one point when i was watching season 4 maybe i actually did have the thought that it would be interesting if sara died and had to be cloned cause it would fit with her resurrection motif and then both she and ava would be clones. and now it has happened! it’s great because while sara has died and come back to life before she’s never been cloned and so it’s a good way to catch her off guard. i think with this storyline running parallel to the amelia earhart one it’s easy to guess that sara has also been fused with alien dna, and so amelia’s horrific transformation and loss of her identity might serve as an ominous precursor to what might happen to sara :o
mick storyline was okay i didn’t hate it but i didn’t get a lot out of it either. i don’t have anything against kayla per se it’s just that she’s kind of a flat character and that’s not a bad thing but it just means i don’t care about her that much. it was nice when the two of them shared the oxygen mask. and of course they had sex in the ship. i bet she impregnated him.
gary meeting the ava clones and becoming their ally was kind of nice. it does feel strange to me that he is able to get through to them but sara isn’t. i guess it’s just for plot convenience but it just doesn’t seem right to me. it felt too sudden. i kind of like that we see one of the clones flirt with gary just because if not all of the clones are gay then that makes ava even more gay sort of. although i guess if we are taking the clones as a metaphor for women existing in a patriarchal misogynistic society then maybe that clone really is gay deep down and she just doesn’t know it yet because she was never allowed her own sexuality. anyway i thought it was funny when gary emerged from the toilet. i had issues with this show making gary an alien since he was the only jewish character but i do feel like him being an alien fits really well with his character. he was so proud to let sara know that he can squish into tiny spaces like an octopus :p
thats mostly all i have to say except i’m annoyed by how sidelined zari is and how she’s basically just constantine’s girlfriend now. i do feel like zari being constantine’s girlfriend is overall a good thing because it makes her more present and connected in the show but i would like to see her express thoughts and feelings that aren’t just about her boyfriend please. her yellow eyeshadow was very lovely though. oh and it was nice how she comforted ava when spooner told them sara was dead. ava’s reaction was so heartwrenching. she was so determined to get sara back but it was all for nothing.....or so she thinks

okay but you people realise that we dont have to do this whole gifted kid vs special ed kid thing right. both groups of people have experienced ableism in different ways. it isn't minimising other people's experiences to talk about your own. it isn't ableist to talk about the ableism you yourself have experienced, but it *is* ableist to insist that someone else's experience as a disabled person is invalid simply because it's different from yours. and this goes for people i've seen on both sides of the discussion.
for example, i was in the gifted kid program, and my younger sibling has been in special ed their whole life. we are both very autistic, and both have adhd. and our different experiences have still been bad for both of us because, surprise surprise, theyre Both Harmful!
my sibling was diagnosed early on, because their symptoms are more "visible" and closer to what abled people look out for. they've been bullied relentlessly for being weird and different, and made fun of for needing the accommodations that they do.
in my case, no one realised im autistic and have adhd until *i did myself* my senior year of hs, and i didn't get diagnosed until after i graduated. because the symptoms of my disabilities presented differently from my sibling's, i've been treated differently, but i still struggled nonstop throughout school. in fact, that's why i almost didnt graduate. i only did because of the pandemic pass, honestly - i graduated a couple months after it started. the pressure of the expectations, being dropped into accelerated courses i was in no way ready for, combined with the total lack of support or help when i needed it, led to me having so, so many breakdowns, from middle school all the way up to college, because i felt stupid for not being able to "just do it", as i was often told to do. i was taught to push myself beyond my limits, and as a result i still don't feel like i'm doing enough even when i'm actively burning myself out.
if i had some kind of accommodation for my disabilities whatsoever, maybe i would have done better. but because i didn't "seem disabled", or even know where to start in asking for help, my struggles were overlooked and my failing class after class was dismissed as me just being lazy and a disappointment. (eg. "you're so smart and we know you are so why don't you just *apply yourself* like you surely must be able to?" "you're really letting yourself down here." "there's no reason you shouldn't be able to do this." "i explained this already." "it's simple, what don't you get?" etc. etc.)
when i did my one semester of college before dropping out, i finally got my adhd diagnosis partway through the semester, and was able to reach out and apply for accommodations. and because of my adhd, i had issues setting up those accommodations for myself, to the point where i was told it would be "better to just wait until next semester". it was like i needed accommodations to help me be able to receive accommodations. i didn't get them, and i failed every single class i took. same as how i failed half of high school.
it isnt bragging to say i was in the gifted kid program because that's what the school itself called it. that's what actual schools call it. and That is the issue here, not the neurodivergent kids who are forced into it with just a "you'll do fine, you're Smart" and no further support beyond that. it's the way that schools separate children, ostracise them from their peers, for being both too smart and not smart enough.
the way kids who are in special ed programs are treated, by their teachers, peers and family, is terrible. disabled children often don't get the support they need, and are ridiculed for their disabilities. this has lasting, lifelong effects on the people who go through it. by all means, this should absolutely be talked about more, and is very much something that needs to change.
the thing is, the way the entire education system is set up is inherently ableist. between the cookie-cutter "this one method works for everyone", and the separation and othering of kids who are "different" starting very early on, there are countless issues. this isn't news. but it means that disabled kids in different areas of the system, different programs, will still experience ableism no matter what. and it's insane to try and pit our own experiences against each other, as fellow victims of this systemic issue, as if it's more "valid" to experience ableism one way than it is another. this makes no sense, and i feel it distracts from the real issue at hand: the educational system needs serious reform in regards to how it treats disabled children, let alone the many other aspects in which it's failing our youth.
i say all this as someone with experience working with disabled kids, and who intends to someday try college again to become a special ed teacher for younger children so they can receive the support and care that they need starting early on. my disabilities are making that plan difficult for me, but are also why it's something i'm passionate about. and that's why i feel it important to stress that the issue here is not other disabled people. it never has been.
(note: i know there are definitely plenty of abled children in gifted kid programs, but in my experience a significant portion of my classmates were disabled as well. this post is solely talking about that experience rather than the abled viewpoint in those programs, because disability is the point of this discussion.)

how did u detach yourself from tra and discovered radical feminism?
It’s a long story but I’ll try to condense it as much as possible. (there’s a TL;DR at the end)
It started from within tra circles. There were always things that felt off to me about it, despite being knee-deep and a full supporter of many of its aspects. Any doubts I had I was taught to bury because it must be an internalized phobia (internalized transphobia, etc). But I kept seeing patterns of trans women doing horrible things in the news. I thought surely it must just be bad apples, right? Every group has those. But the deeper I got into the trans community, the more the trans women I was around started showing me how… weird things were. Predatory things, and coming out with points of view that I was not going to agree with.
For example, things about “plurality” often came from them, and I was very close to that community for a time. But after a while I realized how ableist a lot of their talking points were (anti-recovery, anti-therapy, making therapists and doctors seem like a huge conspiracy and general fearmongering around medical help, implying theyre better and more free-minded than people with DID because their condition was “natural” to name a few).
Kink at pride was another revealing topic, and it got more predatory as I explored deeper. Topics on porn distanced me as well. Polyamoury as well. I once tried to inform a trans woman privately that one of her tweets was offensive to intersex people, just because sometimes people say things they don’t know was offensive and I wanted to help. She berated me for not validating her feelings n shit. I’ll spare the details on those for this ask.
What was once a home for people who felt detached from their lives as their sex was turning into a place that I felt even more alienated from if I wasn’t into what I’m going to call “hardcore sexuality”. They isolate you as a transmasc, too, because trans spaces are only really about trans women. The fun spaces are all about them, the serious discussion spaces are all about them. If you try to talk about yourself as a transmasc, you’re shut down for being tr*nsmisogynistic or a “privileged man”, even if the discussion could be on an open topic like “trans issues”. You’re accused of talking over people or shutting others down despite you yourself constantly feeling shut down and talked over. It’s kinda gaslighting tbh. It’s easy to feel like you have no reason to be upset because you’re the real villain. But what kept me from falling deeper into that rabbithole was knowing I wasn’t more privileged for them because I was female. Maybe they were victims of their own horrible oppressions, but I knew I was a victim of mine, too. There was no way someone born male had the exact same privileges as someone born female, because oppression isnt based on how you look outwardly.
From there I was just tired of typical trans spaces. I frequented places just for binary trans men and felt a lil better in spaces for transmeds, but it still felt off. Even spaces for discussing transandrophobia felt like it was missing the point a lil. I started this account to anonymously explore the opinions I knew tras outlawed. Transmeds, truscum, radfems, etc. Radfems’ opinions kept catching my eye. They were the ones that recognized the female aspect of me and all the stuff that came with, despite IDing as a trans man. Most didn’t care if a trans man was following them. Some openly welcomed it. Things felt so much more grounded in reality with them.
so TL;DR ig I wasn’t the one that detached. Like it wasn’t a conscious choice, I just kept being pushed farther and farther to the outskirts unless I accepted truths I wasn’t willing to accept. Radfem stuff made way more sense and required a lot less mental gymnastics, even if some of them were hard to process after being with the tras for so long. the key is avoiding accepting anything just because it was said, or you were told it was a bad opinion, but letting yourself sit with it and form your own opinions on it first
(certain terms are censored because i just dont want this post to come up in those specific searches)

Different anon but I would love to hear more about how Galo being autistic affects his relationship with Aina
oh i would love to talk about this cuz i think its an interesting example we have of galo being autistic and most other characters not rly making much effort to understand where hes coming from or connect w him! so first i gotta mention that in canon theres a lot of wiggle room for interpretation with aina and her and galos relationship just due to how little time its given, but to me it FEELS like they want her to be a parallel to galo (ESPECIALLY true w the lake scene) so sometimes she comes off more as like, also autistic and just doesnt rly mesh in communication styles or understanding why her own attempts at reaching out 2 galo arent working (same as he struggles w his relationship w aina and other ppl, and why theres so many songs abt him and lio Getting Each Other) so like autistic in an opposite direction from him, and sometimes (esp in the ova) it feels like shes meant to b read as allistic and thats why they arent rly meshing. i think the latter is probably more likely to be the intention but the former can b a lot of fun cuz autistic aina <3 anyway moving on
so like to make this more organized im gonna skim thru the ova and the major scene w them from the movie, galo and burning rescue meet in his ova when he introduces himself to them by way of bringing up his special interests and what he assumes are their shared passion for firefighting and everything that goes along w that. ive talked abt this b4 w this scene, but galo bringing his special interests in2 the convo right away and introducing them alongside himself is both a super common autistic way to try to connect w people as well as say hey this is what im about. that obviously doesnt go that well as we get our first introduction of how burning rescue is gonna treat him for the ova and duration of the movie, aina included, in being kind of rude to him (except remi whose very ableist compared to the others) abt it n immediately treating him like an idiot for trying to communicate w them the way thats natural for him. this kind of solidifies how theyll talk abt him and communicate w him for the movie, even as they gain some respect 4 him for saving thyma they dont change how they talk w/about him
im not gonna go over everything in the movie but the lake scene w galo and aina has the very obvious purpose of showing that galo isnt interested in like the potential woman love interest the movie is pushing at him but IS interested in lio, it also serves various other functions some of which being 1) exposition 2) introducing galo and aina as being more alike (paralleled even) than they can rly understand thru their previous attempts at getting 2 know each other 3) SHOWING more how aina and galo have not rly gotten along b4 and showing thru their faltering attempts 2 connect that even if they have stuff in common this is not the romance u r going to get i this movie and they just dont like each other like that
aina and galos communication styles and humor both feel different to me and dont mesh that well, theyre both blunt tho in different ways (aina even told heris galo was ‘honest and too blunt for his own good’ which i think is funny coming from her lol) like galo tries to be expressive and hes got this thing abt Proving himself while aina more quietly does her own thing, galos rly genuine and doesnt rly get that other ppl might not b being genuine (which is smth kr*y took advantage of to lie to him and manipulate him), aina however is rly dry so it comes off as barbed when i think its unintentional and while there r points when shes kind of mean i dont think shes like, going out of her way to hurt his feelings i just think she doesnt rly recognize that galo.. HAS feelings? theres a certain way burning rescue (and in general other characters in promare) treat galo where hes dismissed as being just an idiot for.. being autistic rly and i think thats just smth aina did b4 they had more of a chance to talk one on one and make more of an effort. i dont think she rly treats him the same way she did in the start of the movie and the ova as she does the further the movie goes on. they just didnt know each other very well and no one rly made much of an effort w him b4 then
the long and short of it is that from what we see in the movie it affects his relationship w aina a very similar way it does w burning rescue as general (they function sort of like a single character at times) and galo and aina having dif communication styles (galos very explicitely bcuz he is autistic) shows in making it harder for him to have like, genuine connections and relationships bcuz while galo and aina both sometimes try to extend olive branches to each other (like i think they have trouble getting along but it helped to find common ground) them not rly understanding each other or why the other person does things the way they do was smth intentionally included 4 the straightbaiting bit to work and showing galo and aina wouldnt rly work together and galo and lio r more like. attracted to/intrigued by/instinctively understanding of each other and have that compelling them to get to know each other, n their experiences lend them dif levels of respect towards each other that galo and his coworkers never had. in a way even tho aina made an effort w galo later he had kind of moved on from trying to be friends with his coworkers by then and pursued his relationship w lio instead (again lots of dif reasons they get each other and vibed on a dif level than he had w other ppl, the obvious among them being theyre gay 4 each other lol), tho thats not set in stone n after the events of the movie maybe they can b friends now
anyway umm yes i think post promare galo and aina find ways to communicate better and i would like for them to be friends but like galo being autistic is legitimately the reason trigger gave for him getting off on the wrong foot with burning rescue lmao. it definitely affects his relationship w aina in that way even tho i think she started being more receptive 2 his way of communicating later on. hope this somewhat answered ur question, i have a lot of dif ways of viewing their relationship and characters. as always if anyone has specifics u want elaborated on or has smth 2 add i would luv to hear it

Tf albeist?
Autism?
Shit what kinda shitty drama is happening this time-
Okay if you don't like drama or talks about stereotyping minorities in media, do not read further, but I'm basically just going to weigh in (tw ableism, Lgbtq+ related phobias and minority steryotypes)
In that order- just kidding, b first. Please don't send any hatred at them if you do find out who said it, that'll just make them think they're more right and other people are attacking them for it, but you can read Jakei's post apologizing to get some context if you'd like.
Someone headcanons characters as autistic if theyre emotionless then got upset Ink's a villain in Underverse because making someone emotionless a villain is harmful to autistic people so Jakei made a post apologizing, despite him neither being autistic, nor being a villain. There's your summary, I'm not going to tell you who said it a. Because they have me blocked and I'm sure they'd start something with me if they thought I was stalking their blog (my friend just showed me what they said after it kind of became a public talking point) and b. So no one harasses them.
Now, I'm not autistic, let's make that very clear, but considering they said it's also aphobic, and I am asexual, and the stereotypes they're getting upset at for both are pretty much the exact same, I feel I can weigh in/personally understand the situation enough to explain the following:
Ink is canonly not autistic and while I support people identifying that with him, the person who criticized Jakei seemed to only assigned it to him because they think all emotionless characters are autistic coded (they said Fresh must be too), which is literally just a stereotype a lot of autistic people do not like because genuine emotionlessness is very different from neurodivergence, lack of empathy, difficulty processing emotions, or not feeling romance or love for other people. So I think that in itself should render their ableist argument null and void because it can basically be instantly uno reversoed with a, but wait, you only came to that conclusion because of your own ableist stereotypes!
While I do recogonize there are stereotypes that frame these types people as cold, emotionless, or even dangerous, there's many problems with thinking Ink is falling into this:
1. Ink is not a villain, or even dangerous.
2. Ink is canonly not autistic. Ink in Underverse isn't following canon and once again, still isn't autistic, and saying he is autistic coded because he is emotionless is in itself a harmful stereotype because no one is emotionless in the way these characters are.
3. You cant call a piece of media problematic for containing a stereotype for a minority that you yourself assigned to the character solely because you connected that minority to them due to the stereotype.
Like, if they wanted even a fraction of ground to stand on then maybe, Ink being asexual and being portrayed as villain would have at least made sense because he's actually asexual
But even then I think that's complete bullshit, he's not a villain, he's certainly not being portrayed as a villain because he's emotionless, or asexual, or whatever the fuck. No one's going to look at that and go, ah yes asexual people are evil because Ink is!
Like, we have a fandom that makes horrific murderers gay buddies that kiss each other every other day. There is a harmful stereotype in media where the gay characters are villains. But I, a gay person, don't find people making Killer and Nightmare make out, or putting together a bad sans poly, offensive or harmful because a. it's just a fandom. We have so many iterations of everything that it's very very clear no one's doing that *because* they think gay people are evil. Fuck, I would like to see Killer and Nightmare make out, I think Killer is a gay icon. And b. It's very clear no one's going to see that and go AHA I KNEW IT
GAY PEOPLE ARE MURDERERRRRS.
That's ridiculous.
And Jakei didn't even make Ink autistic!!!! Like, maybe, MAYBE if he genuinely was, they'd have a point. I'd still think it was completely reaching because again he's not a villain, but still, at least then, there would actually be SOME basis for this argument. But they've literally based the entire argument on THEIR headcanon.
They've made a problem that does not exist
A harmful depiction no one saw before they said anything because it wasn't there.
And are demanding an apology because they basically created an attack against their community themselves.
And I think it's ridiculous.
this isn't about whether stereotypes against autistic people exist or are harmful or not, because they do and they are! And I deeplty sympathize with that and believe it should always be a lens in which one can criticize media! But their argument lacks either of its main points being true. Ink is neither autistic nor is Ink a villain and saying he is then demanding an apology for it is just causing more problems than the actual depiction in Underverse.

hey! so i totally agree with you that narc abuse is a thing and i was reading one of your posts where you say saying narc abuse is real and wanting to help people with personality disorders are statements that coexist and i agree with most of it as to why the term narc abuse is okay, but towards the end i just wanted to mention you started using a lot of ableist language especially saying people replying to you are “self proclaimed narcissists” and idk what theyre supposed to call themselves if they have npd? like they can say theyre narcissists if they are, and a bit more in that little paragraph felt like a dig at everyone with npd even right after you said not everyone with npd is abusive
i dont have npd its just something i noticed and wanted to point out because i feel like we can talk about how npd is an important term to use without falling into ableist traps and using the term narcissist as an insult, since it can be a bad thing but isn’t inherently a bad thing and people with it can be good people yknow?
thats all! just wanted to point that out, hope you have a great day
The reason I say “self-proclaimed” is because they are exactly that--Self-proclaimed.
“Hi! Narcissist here! And I’m here to tell you how you’re wrong--”
Whether they actually have NPD? Not up to me to say. Some of them clearly do (they couldn’t be more stereotypical narcissistic if they tried). Some of them might not, self-diagnosing is all too common on social media and there are a lot of disorders that look like or mimic NPD that aren’t (People with C-PTSD can look like they have narcissism when triggered for instance, people with other mental disorders like depression and anxiety can appear to have low or no empathy because of emotional and psychological burnout or overstimulation, abuse victims in general using tactics like stonewalling and dissociation and grey rock out of self-protection can appear to have low empathy, and some personality disorders resemble narcissism but aren’t, just to name a few examples. There are also people who proclaim a fear of “being/becoming a narcissist” because they show “narcissistic traits”--it doesn’t mean they have NPD, you can have traits without having the full disorder, or symptoms of other disorders that mimic it).
Its “Trendy” for a lot of people to start attaching mentally ill labels on themselves, and for some people the more dramatic the label the better (which feeling the need to self-diagnose that hard is a mental illness in itself).
I’m not saying any of them are self-diagnosed, but there’s always the possibility some of them are because they read some WebMD article and decided “OH THAT SOUNDS LIKE ME”. A possibility. Not a guarantee.
I’m not saying any of them have done that, I’m just saying I don’t know for a fact whether they were professionally diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or misdiagnosed. All I have to go off of is that they say they are or aren’t narcissists. Hence, “self-proclaimed”. Its as simple as acknowledging they claim to be narcissists, and I have no reason or credible position to claim or think otherwise, because I don’t have any reasonable basis to either believe or disbelieve them.
There are also people who could be misdiagnosed by a shitty doctor. It happens. Powers That Be know I’ve met more than my fair share of “psychologists” that weren’t qualified to be psychologists, and others who weren’t qualified to be diagnosing what they were trying to diagnose. I’ve also met some really exceptional psychologists.
As for any digs, I’m mostly referring to the incessant number of dumb twats who have been in my notifications over the last few days, acting exactly in the manner of the stereotypical “asshole narcissist” that I’m talking about and make other narcissists who might not engage in shitty behavior look bad.
I’ve also seen a lot of these self-proclaimed Narcissists preach about not armchair-diagnosing while many of them do the exact same thing, either in the traditional sense, or more often the reverse (”X person in my life was abusive and I KNOW FOR A FACT they weren’t a narcissist!” ; How do you know they weren’t just undiagnosed? Or do you just “not want to be lumped together with them” because you don’t like them? Honest question. Maybe they weren’t but how do you “Know” 100% without a shadow of any doubt?)
I literally have nothing against people who make an effort not to be shitty no matter what disorders they may have, but between the replies from some of these people and just a brief skim of any recent posts they make arguing at others or talking about how they view and treat random people in really shitty ways and then hand-wave it away as “Well NPD just be like that”, I have no sympathy for them because they honestly just sound like abusers who are mad at being called for what they are, hiding behind NPD and “ableism” as a cheap shield from criticism.
There’s one common thing abusers and narcissistic abusers (not all with NPD ; just the abusive ones) both hate more than almost anything else and that’s being called out for what they are. Once you know what they are and what they’re doing, they can’t get away with being shitty, and narcissistic abusers can’t get easy access to narcissistic supply.
Others who don’t behave that way and work hard to be good people? Sure. I have no gripes. Y’all keep doing what you’re doing and stay golden.
But I will never sympathize with or curtail my language to the comfort of shitty people who think they’re justified in being shitty people.

god lmao when you hear a neurotypical and/or abled person spout the words ‘quality of life’ you know you are about to hear the ugliest most dehumanizing selfish fucking argument abt how anybody thats different from them must be suffering for it and how theyd wanna kill themselves if they were disabled or w/e the fuck like. jesus lmao mam as an autistic person with chronic pain frankly if i had your brain id definitely wanna kill myself cus being that fucking ableist and shitty and self centered is no way to live like i honestly cant imagine being ok w/ that existence. also idk have you even once considered that your evil ignorant selfish assumptions are whats actually contributing to my struggle.
in other words; stop comparing your life to mine. you are not my fucking advocate and those who ‘cannot’ advocate for themselves still dont need you to be their nihilistic savior or whatever disgusting thing you think it is you are doing. “quality of life” like god karen maybe we just dont make wild assumptions with extreme consequences about how minorities view the worth of their own existence by looking at it through your own selfish lens and ranking it against your personal level of functioning as if its educated and selfless of you to think that should be the metric and standard of the whole universe and anyone who cant match it must be unhealthy bc they cant relate to you.
like kjsdfsd maybe just stop talking abt how badly you wanna euthanize disabled kids and how its a moral responsibility to kill disabled people and prevent disabled babies bc u assume theyre in pain from nature and not from the ableist society you contribute to with your weird cruel statements like that !!! ffs jsut stop jesis fuckinG C H R I S T stop it its so gross. you literally dont know Shit. ‘but the doctors tm said the patients condition is a sentence to lifelong misery and they’ll never be able to speak they may not even have thoughts i-’ oh my goddDDD DUDE I LITERALLY HONESTLY DONT CARE ABT WHATEVER PROPAGANDA ABLED DOCTORS TELL U ABT DISABLED KIDS FROM WIDELY ABLE CENTRIC MEDICAL SCIENCE CREATED WITHIN AN ABLED CENTRIC SOCIETY, it is 100% FACT THAT YOU CANT ACTUALLY SEE ANYONE ELSES EXPERIENCES SO /YOU DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT SINGULAR DISABLED PEOPLES LIVES/. YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO US FIRST, AND WHEN WE CANT COMMUNICATE, YOU HAVE TO PUT IN SOME ACTUAL >EFFORT< TO THINK ABOUT HOW TO HELP US IN WAYS THAT DONT REVOLVE AROUND LITERAL FUCKING EUGENICS AS YOUR GO-TO. your goddamn ‘advocacy’ is literally just talking over us and silencing us, and with fucking lazy and Abominable intentions. shut the fuck UP you pieces of shit if murder is your solution to a group of people you could just be focused on Helping then you people will never be anywhere close to knowing what true ‘’‘MERCY’’’ is even if it bit you in the fuckin dick lol

why do you think it’s gonna fall apart
maybe not "fall apart" but just not continue in the direction it's going. i dont have like, sociologist level analytics, im just speaking from my personal experience. i mean first off it's being treated by a necessity to have but as a luxury to obtain which is a laugh. and even just personally i dont think it should be treated as a necessity even if it were 100% free and accesible because academia just isnt a good fit for some people and forcing them down that narrow path is just stupid, you know, that cliche "judging a fish by how it can climb a tree" idea. im a junior in high school right now, and just watching how central college is to the lives of my peers is absolutely absurd, people literally talk about this abstract idea of "college" as if it's a deity. i just think the level at which its valued in our culture is insanely bloated and just keeps growing. teaching kids that this is the be-all and end-all of life is leading to rapidly rising levels of burnout and a plethora of mental issues. and for what? all this for the PRIVILEGE of getting into debt that youll never be able to pay off in today's job market even With this coveted skeleton key of a degree that you apparently need for every single job on the face of the earth. the requirement of college degrees for jobs that simply do not need them is so elitist, classist, ableist, every single got damn -ist in the book, it's just a joke! seeing how this culture is impacting everyone around me is just genuinely so tragic. like every single negative thing about it just keeps growing exponentially, stretching kids so thin, if you look at it objectively it truly just does not seem tenable to me AT ALL. the mental, financial, and emotional toll it's having on the youth is really just off the charts. it's a bubble that's inevitably going to pop. i realize what ive said here is nothing new at all and others have said it better, but it's really just the facts of the matter.
ALSO if youll allow me to put on my tinfoil hat for a moment: if i were at the top of a society, id think it would be a really handy idea to systematically brainwash kids from the moment theyre conscious to think college is the only option in life, put them through a rigorous, dare i say soul-destroying experience in order to get there, force them to sign away four vital developmental years of their life and hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt (that practically no one but members of my class have in today's economy) the SECOND they're legally an adult (which would seem like very clear predatory lending practices in literally any other context but in this case it’s fine and normal and expected i guess), only to further grind them down mentally and emotionally - and then bam! every new generation of people entering the workforce are already relatively broken, and have to be content to work whatever menial jobs i throw at them in order to pay off this insane amount of debt, while i continue to remain happily at the top, profiting off of this system. idk that's just something i think would be pretty neat if that were me.
ANYWAYS sorry if this was literally the incoherent ravings of a madman and way too overdramatic but cest la vie 🤪✌️
