Sc*tt stans are everywhere annoying me as if they’re getting paid to do it. I’m doing a rewatch with my mom and we’re coming up on season 5. This has been bothering me lately, so I’m going to rant about it.

We’re all aware that Scott uses Hayden as bait to lure the Dread Doctors to the school and he doesn’t tell her or get her consent on the matter. Liam and Hayden are rightfully upset and Liam makes Scott promise to do everything he can to protect Hayden.

Liam: This plan sucks!

Scott: You got a better one? Kids are dying, and she's next! So, somebody has to do something. Somebody has to save everyone. So somebody's got to be the bait!

Liam: Scott... Promise me you'll do everything you can to save her. Scott-- promise.

Scott: I'll do everything I can. I promise.

Hayden gets injured severely and is dying. Liam reminds Scott he promised to do everything he could for Hayden, this includes biting her, which Scott refuses to do.

Here’s where I take huge issue with this.

I have no idea the odds of Hayden surviving the bite. Scott admits that he thinks she may be too weak to survive. But Melissa and Theo explain or imply that she’s not surviving if he does nothing.

Hayden has a 100% chance of dying if he chooses not to bite her.

If you have two labelled barrels in front of you, the one on your left contains 100 oranges, the one on your right contains 95 oranges and 5 apples. Someone holds a gun to your head and says “close your eyes and select an apple from the barrel or I kill you” you might try to find an apple amongst the oranges, even if the chances are slim because there’s still a chance. You’re not going to reach into the barrel with zero apples unless you don’t want to choose an apple.

He chose to let her die. A 5% chance of survival is better than 0%. The reason he didn’t want to bite her is because he knew there was a high chance she wasn’t going to make it. Remember the conversation Scott had with Morrell in season 3?

Morrell: He wants to make a killer out of you. That's what he does.

Scott: But, if I kill someone, I can't be a True Alpha, right?

Morrell: Exactly.

If Hayden died when Scott bit her, that would technically be on him--at least it would be in his mind. She was going to die either way, he may as well keep his power.

Don't you guys think it's fucked up when Fiona starts dating and sleeping out of the house, leaving Debbie, Carl and Liam kind of for themselves?

Once she started dating Mike she would sleep at his place sometimes which I think it's okay, she was paying the bills and would leave dinner ready and communicate Debs and she was still looking out for them, they had health care and she took them to the clinic and all that. She needs to take care of her, live a life, sleep at her boyfriend sometimes, that's fine and healthy. But then she marry Gus and is often out of there, get together with Sean and doesn't even know what's going on with them anymore (aka "why there's nothing to eat in the fridge" "cause no one is doing the shopping" dialogue with Debbie, not knowing when it's their first day at school, letting Sammy move in and run things after her trailer got fucked by Frank), and then she gets her apartment and moves out completely and like, okay, Ian was a EMT, Lip is a mechanic already I think, she did said she wasn't going to support Debbie after her pregnancy (fucked me thinks), Carl's at military school, but Liam is still a kid! And Debs and Carl are still underage! And they are her responsibility.

It just doesn't sit right with me that Liam didn't at least moved with her.

Specifically Fiona defenders, I would love to hear more about it.

I'm not really sure if I should call this a rant or just simply putting my thoughts out there. Mostly, it's just me trying to give some defense to the Royal Romance Mc. I don't really interact with the Choices fandom very often, but whenever I do see stuff, especially towards mc, it's mostly negative. Now, I by no means believe that there are NO issues with the books, but I do feel like mc receives more of the blunt of those frustrations than she really deserves.

First, before I get into this, I will be honest and say that mc is one of my favorite choices characters, so there is some bias. The way I view the story, the characters, and the various events that happen throughout are completely my own. I personally kind of add to the stories as I play through them. I'm definitely going to try to give valid reasoning here, but it's totally understandable if you disagree or dismiss this. I don't want to start any arguments. I personally greatly enjoy her and have played through the entire series multiple times now (I'm currently in book 2 as we speak). The main thing I've noticed throughout these replays, the thing I'm going to be using as my main driving point, is that mc is doing her best in strange situations that do not let up for even more than a moment.

At the very start, mc is just a regular person living in New York, working as a waitress/bartender, and probably isn't living the best of lives, again just trying to work with what she's got. Along comes this guy and his friends. She'll probably just thinking that their her last customers before she can go home and crash into bed, but then the guy comes up to HER and asks her to accompany them for the night. Her reaction is sort just like, "You know what, sure. Why not? I ain't got anything going on." If you do the diamond scene, she arranges an impromptu boat tour for Liam mostly just because she noticed how down he was, and then pretty much just shrugged her shoulders and gave Maxwell a thumbs up when he asked her to go with him to Cordnia.

Right from the start, it's shown that mc is impulsive and tends to just go with the flow and do without thinking too much about it. Now, if you're like me and like to mentally fill in the (many) gaps that the writers have left, you probably came up with your own reasons and background stories that explain why she's like that. Most likely on purpose, as even though mc is her own character, she is still supposed to be a representation of you. Her impulsiveness is simply an outline of who she is, and you, as the reader, color her in.

That's not to say that she can't stand on her own at all, though. One thing I find that I notice in all the books, at least in my perspective, is that mc is incredibly observant and clever. It may not come across that way all the time, and those two things definitely don't always mean smart, as mc has more than enough fumbles to show for it, but by no means is she at all stupid. Even in her sillier moments, she seems to knowingly like messing around, both for her own entertainment and to be petty and get under people's skins. Like with her whole "fwieeeends" bit with Olivia, for example. She is definitely well aware of the fact that it's annoying and seems to take great enjoyment out of it.

But that is to say, in circling back around to my earlier statement, she's just trying to work with what she's got. From the very beginning, when she arrived in Cordnia, she has people looking down on her, namely Drake, Olivia, and Bertrand. I'm not sure if Pixelberry ever gave them official ages, but I'd say she's around 24 or 25, maybe. She also clearly didn't have a whole lot of people close to her in New York. So all and all, she's a young girl brought to a foreign country to compete in a competition to marry a prince, but now also has the entire weight of the Beaumont legacy suddenly thrown on her back, is sorting through complicated feelings that she might be developing for other people, and has been all but shoved front and center into the national (and global) spotlight. Despite all of that craziness, she is STILL able to navigate through it all until the end when forces outside of her control send it all crashing down.

And it it pretty much like that in all the books. Mc is working with a semi steady bombardment of issues (mostly do to an extremely flawed monarchy system) and rarely really has time to actually stop, come to terms with what's going on, properly plan, of even just breath. Regardless of whether she's queen or duchess (especially if she's a duchess), she has way more thrown on her that she actually should. And all she can really do about it is roll with the punches, try to figure things out as much as she can, and make silly little comments and jokes to keep herself from having a breakdown.

Hi, I came to report to you that your ql music research is rubbing off on me 😅 I was watching ep 2 of Ploy's Yearbook (for Joong and Namtan 😍), when suddenly I recognized a piece of music!! But I couldn't place it, so I tried to remember which series have I watched so many times that I'm familiar with the music. I reached the tentative conclusion that it must be from SIMM or possibly from Hidden Agenda (but I definitely connected it to JoongDunk). Maybe I need to do a complete rewatch of both series to confirm, what a hardship 😂 I just wanted to tell you that maybe aside from being a JD vampire bl truther, this will be your other legacy

YEAH.... i think it gets overlooked largely bc it was Fast, rather than drawn out like liams death was, to the point where it looks kind of like it even confused amelia when she was revived- but no matter what, no matter how slow or fast it was, she died and she KNOWS it, and i dont inagine someone just walks away from that

similar to how liam , in s2, seems to kinda just... lean into some feeling of already having Died, amelia comes to REALLY have complicated feelings on her own life bc she died too. ive seen ppl talk abt her relationship w life pre-one, and i agree w it a lot, but a lot of it doesnt even include the fact that. i imagine dying has a deep impact on how one sees their own identity. in ep 7, i think the guilt was Likely the biggest factor, but that feeling of having died also seems to have just been building and building and DEF had smth to do w it. i think it all comes to a head during the 7 months, leading her to sort of imagine her before one AS being dead. before that, i think the gradually increasing ease of being agitated is REALLY impacted by seeing the plane as a place that she Died At, but during the 7 months that stress turns from 'i need to get out of here bc i dont wanna Be dead' to 'who i was before this already died, so this is just life now'

theres also the fact that i think maybe, it was hard to consider getting the others out before herself, because up until then, she WAS the only person to have died. but after liam drowns, i imagine it... makes her not forget that she died, too, but think that it was irrelevant, because it was fast and his death wasnt, which makes all of this just ADD to her guilt. i dont think it SHOULD illegitimize her own death. brcause she still DIED, but given that ep 6 definently impacted her in terms of giving her so, so much, guilt, it looks to have made her feel like what happened to her was irrelevant in comparison to him :(

to her, she already died, and she couldnt even save liam from dying, too. the least she could do at this point was to stop anything else from happening to him

Got thinking about something during my guitar practice today and now it's haunting me so gonna get it out. As a person who's kinda on the autistic/ADHD spectrum I've been noticing how this daily (well, almost daily) practice is working for me in ways that confirm the message of posts like this. How getting my hands on the instrument gives me enough happy brain chemicals to at least try to do sth about my to do lists, how my feasible progress (no matter how far I still am from where I wanna be skill-wise) helps me not just carry on with my day but sometimes even pull me out of my head and give a little bit of motivation to work on stuff I wanna work on. From just spending a couple of hours tormenting my poor old acoustic with music that is meant to be played on sth capable of emitting way heavier sound than just that.

And I can't help but think how the same thing would explain (not that it needs much explanation) so much about Eddie Munson's excellent guitar skills and his passion about music, especially in context of him also displaying quite a few ADHD traits and having failed to graduate high school twice. And the odds are that he's self-taught so he had the freedom to engage in this hobby and learn this skill in ways that make sense for his own brain, instead of having to conform to how disciplines are taught in ways often colliding with how neurodivergent minds work, instead of having to deal with someone else who'd pressure him into living up to expectations at the expense of himself and scold in case of failure or missed deadline.

No, this is something Eddie learned entirely on his own volition, something he can easily pour entire hours of concentrated effort into, something that reminds him that he's not as much of a failure as everyone else says he is. So naturally it's endlessly interesting to me how exactly him regularly playing music works with regards to his brain chemistry, and alas it's not something I've ever seen explored in fics yet, though it's always fascinating to read how other people write him as having ADHD even without making it intersect with music. Which shouldn't probably be surprising, given how much this niche kind of thing might be tricky to actually write unless informed by experience, but still. It may be niche, yeah, but it has quite a lot of potential for offering some insight for what makes Eddie tick and what exactly this admittedly large part of his life means to him. And this is, again, endlessly interesting to me
