Headcanon about the godhood au: the most radical of the Cyn-worshipping ones have made several attempts to ressurrect their dark lord by uploading Cyn's mind from Uzi into themselves, and only a single group have managed to get close enough to do so and they got caught partway through, but they got far enough to get infected with the solver and become able to remotely communicate with Cyn.

I could definitely see an incident like that being part of the reason why Uzi, N, and V live in the bunker without any other drones

it's not like it's completely forbidden for drones to enter there. I imagine some of the rooms towards the entrance get used by the devotees for a variety of things like meeting places, performing rites, storing offerings and artifacts, et cetera

but deeper in, you can only enter if you receive some sort of invitation for the sake of privacy and security. Which, an incident like this could definitely warrant that type of security As for the drones who managed to get themselves infected, I could see them getting a version similar to what disassembly drones have. Leaving them with a need for oil and sensitivity to sunlight

not that they'd ever see the sun again after pulling a stunt like that like, I'm no legal expert, but I feel like breaking into god's house to try and resurrect the devil will get you a life sentence in a theocracy

Wild Life Episode 2 Thoughts

Grian's episode had me dying from laughter. 10/10 no notes. I wasn't expecting to enjoy Grian, Mumbo and Skizz together nearly as much as I do.

Ren and Martyn didn't have to go so hard with their relationship this episode but they did and it melted my heart.

Definitely watching Jimmy's episode when it comes out because I need to know the full context for the "He's with Tango" thing.

The image I drew is like- You took his jacket in a play fight and when he was trying to get it back you put it on, and he just could not be upset anymore. You were wearing his jacket and he short circuited. So of course, all he wanted was to see you in it more and so his silly little brain went "yes wear this whenever... please... I'm not asking- I'm begging... you're so pretty."

He has that shirt because it reminded him of Steven Universe and that was the show you introduced him to the first night you stayed at his house- and its possibly your favorite show ever.

If you ever go to the movies with you, he would insist on buying separate popcorns just because he would absolutely have no confidence to take popcorn if the bucket was in your lap. Nor would he be able to handle it if you kept reaching over to get some. Also, just he would not be able to focus if you accidentally brushed his hand while getting some popcorn.

He was more than happy when you willingly joined his little club, he probably went home and squealed like a little schoolgirl because he was so excited to be able to have more time with you.

His little fanfics are probably mostly cuddles because whenever he writes anything more he just gets too into the thought, and gets sidetracked, so he never gets to finishing it.

If you played games with him, he'd probably try his best to not sit near you because you tend to get very touchy when competitive and over excited, so he needs to avoid you touching him or else he'd get too distracted.

Movies at home are a similar situation, which sucks because you both are very much cuddly movie watchers- but Taylor absolutely get excited and he's too afraid of ruining the movie or missing anything. However, once you two start dating, he no longer is allowed to sit away from you, and you get to be as clingy and touchy during movies or games as you want.

You absolutely tease him nonstop for being a "salt is too spicy" type of person. And you try to introduce him to new food, but he has trouble eating most of it.

He would nearly faint is you offered him like a piece of candy or something with your mouth. The pocket challenge used to be all he thought about doing with you when it was super popular but now, he could- he would not be able to do it, no matter how much he'd like it.

Hand holding is the number one thing he wants from you, especially when you started dating. He'd crave it anytime you two were apart.

I've been thinking a lot lately* about how artistic works are so intimately products of their moment and in conversation with it, and how easy this is to overlook both in terms of discussing a work and in terms of anticipating or considering new additions to an older work.

The first is important because so many judgements that can be made about a work are only meaningful when you know what their context was. What readers need or want to see, particularly in terms of representation, is hugely mediated by what else is available to them at the time. Yeah this is about stuff like "Rocky Horror was progressive when it was created" but also it's about stuff like "the John Carter movie bombed because it was regarded as derivative", when in fact the source material originated a bunch of the 'derivative' scenes and tropes that were then used by better-known movies before a John Carter movie ever got made.

The second is important because...even if you come back to a work, as a creator, you can only make new parts of it as the person you are now, in conversation with the world and genre as it is now, not as it was when you started. Taking a mildly-infamous-among-fantasy-fans example, Melanie Rawn's unfinished Ambrai trilogy; she's often said that she can't finish it because her life has moved on and...as sad as I am it was never finished, I think that's probably smart! She could write a third book one day, maybe, but it never could or would be the third book she would have written in the 1990s. And even if she did manage that somehow, the genre has moved on in such a way that it would feel weird and probably quite offputting to read a book doing with gender and feminism what the Ambrai books were doing in the '90s, because they are/were inherently in conversation with an era of fantasy that is now past.

All of which is to say that:

as a reader (or watcher) I think it's good to hold in mind, when engaging with a work from a time and/or place unfamiliar to you, the extent of what you don't know about the context of the work

as a creator, I think it's good to be very realistic about what you're going to actually achieve when you are making something over a long time period or coming back to something you left unfinished. You can totally do that! It can be incredibly rewarding! But the thing you make now is not the thing you would have made then, probably not even the thing you imagined you were going to make then, and that's just the nature of art.

*The reason I have been thinking about this is partly books I have been reading (Mara of the Acoma, you are my blorbo) and partly a very fun podcast I have been listening to which has re-read The Ruins of Ambrai and done a lot of discussion about its context, finishing up with a great interview with Kate Elliott about writing fantasy in the '90s (and writing it now, as she is still writing great but different books!). Anyway go listen to the Hot Nuance Book Club, it's a good time.

These are my designs for the Sub One Club aka the Floaters, aka the Spanners. I had a lot of fun with these drawings.

With Grian's design, I based it off of Toon Link as a double reference to Grian's Link skin and the premise of Minish Cap. The little fairy that follows him around represents the Watchers, hence the purple and the little eye on it.

For Mumbo's design, I loosely based it off the Tinker fairies from the Disney Fairies movies. The thing Mumbo is looking through at the bottom is a microscope that's turned the other direction.

Skizz's design was basically making him look kinda like an athletic angel type, trading the Halo for a Headband. I also took elements from the Tinker fairies for Skizz in the way that he wears the leaf as a vest.

I'm so excited to see where things go from here.

Asylum Challenge: Day Four (Part I)

While the rest of the household slumbered, Lilac and Vlad got busy with their unofficial painting club.

L. arose with a scheming look on her face, while Meredith helped herself to some leftover pumpkin stew.

Eventually Ted made his way to - as expected - the globe bar, just in time to be insulted by L.

"Come now, is all this unpleasantness really necessary?" demanded the EVIL traited Ted of the MEAN traited L.

As Lilac and Vlad continued their Society of the Fledgling Artistes (and Vlad taking some concrit from Lilac surprisingly well), two other household members arose and found their priorities more in-line with the Watcher's way of thinking: breakfast.

Look at those food particles fly!

Meanwhile L. continued to mock Ted - likely because she had an invisible glass of port to sip at ominously and he did not.

Skill montage time! Raj took up painting, the Roswells played chess, Vlad became our piano vamp, L. worked on her much-needed charisma skill, and Lux was our gardener.

It had been a late night at work for Jacques' old bones. Eventually the Watcher roused him only to him to go right back to bed for a good old cry (thanks ERRATIC trait).

The athletic Lux took up boxing and found some like-minded Sims in the form of Lilac and Raj. The house has so far been loosely split into two factions: the 'nice' Sims (Meredith, Lilac, Raj and Lux) and... everyone else.

'Nice' Sims or not, she and Lilac were still a little lost for words when Raj asked, "Be honest, what do you think of my painting?"

As Jacques is the only one in the other half of the household without the MEAN or EVIL traits (shockingly!), he so far has been able to maintain positive relationships with the other three and had a nice chat with L. in the kitchen about... likely nothing the Watcher would care to dwell on.

Raj and Meredith enjoyed a movie together, with Meredith taking advantage of the mini bar to ponder just what she's going to do with an EVIL traited husband, now that she's a played Sim.

Vlad was dinner duty tonight, making it convenient for the Watcher to cancel his 'call to meal' interaction. His grilled cheese was fairly decent, but still, foodies Raj and Meredith were nearby to provide guidance if necessary - especially considering that the cook has not eaten in the last 400 years.

Maybe I spoke too soon about L. and Jacques getting along. L. evidently decided to reject Vlad's grilled cheese for the far superior leftovers of the day before.

Mostly likely wearing those types of tees with leather pants or low rise jeans.

Jack was definitely more of a quality time, type of lover. While you were more of a physical touch lover. You held his hand, wrap your arm around him, forehead kisses, quick kisses before beating up a guy at fight club. While Jack could just sit in a room with you and be happy.

Under the sheets though… you’d definitely be top… on some occasions… you’d switch, you definitely weren’t complaining though…

You’d definitely bring him along to help Tyler at the movies. You’d get him to be the watcher. While you and Tyler did your thing, only because you both knew what you were doing and Jack was quite new to it.

i just watched "a part of you" on netflix and i'm here to say the bad reviews are all wrong!! i am no film critic but as an occasional movie watcher i thought the acting was really really good. particularly when agnes and noel are arguing outside of the club- incredible performances from both of them fr. i liked that each character grieved in their own way even if it was kinda fucked up because grief is fucked up.

i hate to say this but i feel like a lot of the 1-2 star reviewers just totally missed the point of the movie 😭 or at least certain elements. the ones i saw all focused on one detail and completely ignored the rest of the movie. i don't think people understand that movie characters can do bad things and it doesn't make the movie bad. obviously people rate movies based on their own enjoyment so it could still be a bad movie to those ppl, but if we could all be a tiny bit more open minded i think that would be nice

1. share your favorite memory of this year.

as much as i shit on 2024, it surely was one of the best years of my life. I can't really think of one memory that would be my most favorite, but i really enjoyed my trip to budapest in june and also august, my internet best friend sleeping over, karaoke nights in november and december, getting drunk with my situationship, 11/11 manifestation with my friend and over-all many moments spent with friends during this semester :,)

2. what was the highlight of your year?

I think that an over-all highlight might have been me spending more time with my friends and building deeper bonds with the people around me, but once again, i dont think i can pick just one.

3. list the top five books you read this year.

AAAA i love book questions. okay so! first place definitely takes happy all the time by laurie colwin, which i didnt expect to like as much as i did, but its a solid 5* book that i think about often. second place is definitely tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow by gabrielle zevin that i read this time last year, it was such an enchanting and amazing read with an unique plot line and great world building. third place takes flowers for algernon by daniel keyes, my psych major heart enjoyed this one deeply. makes you think and reflect and i would recommend this book to anyone. I also very much enjoyed kitchen by banana yoshimoto, which was written in a very simple, yet beautiful way, and the last one im going to mention is never let me go by kazuo ishiguro, which i also didnt expect to like half as much as i did.

I am not much of a movie watcher, if im being honest, i am convinced i literally watched 5 movies in total last year 💀💀 but i did really love fight club! I also finally watched the amazing spiderman movies which i loved, and beautiful boy which wasn't exactly what i expected, but i enjoyed it nonetheless and think about it often. as the fifth one im gonna mention john mulaney: baby j if that counts..? 😭

5. list the top five tv series you binged this year.

I havent watched much tv series either,, but twinkling watermelon was definitely my favorite!! I also enjoyed the eighth sense and the eight show, and i also channeled my inner uk culture lover and watched the inbetweeners finally LMAOO

6. what is the one new thing you discovered this year (could be a place/hobby/song etc)?

does a karaoke bar at uni count? 💀💀 i dont think i really discovered many new things last year, or i cant really recall anything..? but i definitely discovered more of my uni town and maybe more of my sexuality..? 😭 as for artists i discovered the kid laroi, role model and gracie abrams :p

the secret of us by gracie abrams, eternal sunshine by ariana grande and kansas anymore by role model were definitely my most played this year 🙂‍↕️

11. what is an achievement that you are proud of this year?

started putting myself first and taking more opportunities to go out/hang out with people. this used to be a big problem of mine especially when i was handling anxiety, but i found that getting out of the house helps managing it :))

12. what are your goals for the next year?

biggest goal is definitely graduating and getting into masters! then id love to travel to london with my friend in the summer and finally get that tattoo i've been wanting since 17 hihi. finding love would also be great but i dont think thats something i can impact haha

I dont really follow any anticipated releases, to be honest! I just read what i find already released 😭

15. if you could change one thing about the past year what would it be?

the holiday season 💀💀 it was quite possibly the darkest part of my year/life and i did not enjoy it at all.

16. did you manage to stick to your new year's resolutions this year?

I just found a few that i had written down in my journal last year. I definitely stuck to taking care of myself more, put myself first more, hanging out more with my friends and continuing to write. I didnt however watch more movies, do more art and read 24 books last year 💔

17. do you have any new year's resolutions for the next year?

I do! as i already mentioned, graduating and getting into masters is a big one. then going to london, get a tattoo, write more, continue to socialize even more, be more careless and have more of a yolo lifestyle, find a more positive relationship with myself and build my confidence in a way that doesnt depend on external validation. :))

do things scared !!! don't worry so much about everything, because things will turn out just fine. also dont talk to the erasmus people in the club it's a trap! (/j. I've enjoyed this little fun romance side quest of mine so far.)

I think i kinda fell for the very cutesy very demure trend for a bit?? Also the viral dance to disco by surf curse was the highlight of my days i watched every single one on my fyp haha

my signature pasta recipe i cook for me and my roommate every other week. I also feel like i finally learned how to park..? and uhhh the last skill may be how to give a bj idk sjsksdksksk

Hi! I want to watch more films and well you are kinda the person to ask! So how do you find the time to watch so many films? How do you come up with what to watch and where/how do you tend to watch them?

And any other tips and tricks?

Oh boy, this is a slightly tricky question? But to start— loving movies is a full-on hobby that I make time for, including researching and learning a lot about film history, meta analysis and other things I have shelves of books about.

For one, I’ve used the tv as background noise while doing other things since roughly middle school— so it’s very common for me to watch a movie during breakfast and dinner, and do multiple movies during days off that I’m working on some kind of project. It’s a whole “if I’m not doing two things at once I can’t pay attention to either” situation. (And when I was doing 45-60 hours a week of drawing homework in college and still could find the pirating websites I can’t use anymore I watched so many movies).

I am very much a horror nerd. And in general, the horror community can be like being part of a club and being able to know director filmographies and intricacies of subgenres is part of that community— and since a lot of the actors and directors and effects people worked together in this kind of weird expanding web it makes exploring the genre kind of like a game (like I like The Thing and oh Rob Bottin worked on The Howling too and learned the craft from Rick Baker who was the first to get an Oscar for special effects makeup while working on An American Werewolf in London that John Landis directed but he also did the vampire movie Innocent Blood like ten years later and—). There’s a reason my Letterboxd watchlist never seems to dip below 600 even watching at least once movie every day.

I use Shudder a lot, but also Prime, Hulu and Tubi, and occasionally there’s stuff free on YouTube. I also hoard a lot of physical media. Since I’ve recently given up on Netflix I’ve been finding bootleg Blu-ray’s on eBay, because relying on internet when I’ve had many years of bad Wi-Fi and also a deep love of special features and commentary means physical media is something important to me (there’s a whole thing about preserving history outside of the internet’s ability to make things disappear but that’s a whole other conversation)

Like I can have whole long diatribes about movies, because it’s a thing I get really into— I did rope one of my friends into a whole thing explaining the moral and existential concepts in Saw and Hostel II and the way to make PG-13 horror films function successfully and why 2000s horror in relation to American political landscape was Like That for almost an hour yesterday— which is why giving advice for new or casual watchers is tricky for me 😅
