Y'know the fanon idea that Damian completely worships Batman (the mantle) and almost always respects Bruce to his own detriment has never made sense to me. Same with the popular notion that Damian's only goal, in his early years in Gotham, is to replace Bruce as Batman. From the beginning of his comic introduction, I thought it was clear that Damian had little respect for Bruce and Batman (not just Robin/Tim). Literally his first words to Bruce are "Father, I imagined you taller" with a sword to his throat. It was Damian's need for fatherly recognition and the explanatory environment of the League that made him act on killing the Spook - setting off the chain of events with Tim and eventually the story arc ending with the submarine explosion.

Like, yes, later on when Damian officially becomes Robin and more writers get their hands on him, he does start to believe in Batman and actually build a relationship with Bruce. (and then later on we get the company mandated "make Damian evil" comics that started to turn him the other way). Idk just thoughts being shared here. Obviously, the woobification of Tim has a hand in these ideas being so widespread, because some parts of fanon act like Damian spawned into existence purely with the goal of replacing Tim or Bruce. Like he barged into the cave and immediately said "I, a 10 year old, am going to dedicate all hours of my life into bullying a teenager! My goal in life is to physically and psychologically torment this one guy!" (And realistically, guys, I don't think Damian cares that much about Tim, and vice versa).

Also, I guess just super misguided/misinformed attempts to giving Talia and/or Ras reasons for training Damian that way they do (in fanon) and narratively giving a reason for why Damian is so aggressive when he first appears. Everyone forgets the true goals Ras has in running the League, and tbh, I don't think his dynamic with Bruce has ever been portrayed correctly in fanon. Like I've read some fics that portray the "Damian must be Batman" concept as something Ras ingrained into him - and while I don't think Ras wouldn't praise Bruce around Damian, they are still ideologically opposed. Same goes for the fanon monstrosity that is Talia - she would have a positive view on Bruce, even more so, but if people were being accurate to her character, she wouldn't be forcing Damian into the role of Batman when she knows what the mantle means and how it can warp a person. But they aren't accurate to her character, so its usually a "you must replace your father...because its what the right kind of son does" kind of justification.

Either way, I've always been more interested in Damian's arc as someone who thinks Batman/"crime-fighting" is stupid and then gradually and slowly starts to understand why Bruce does what he does even if he never fully agrees/can articulate exactly why killing is wrong (yet)....versus someone who has always wanted to be Batman and just gradually learns how to do that the "right" way (ie no killing, no in-fighting).

I read your guide on Liz Truss and I think the way you talked about subs is wrong. Mocking Liz Truss and criticising her actions as a politician I agree with, but bringing that up as if its a sign of moral weakness or bad character a thing to use to insult people, is just punching down. Not mention , even if it is true or not its not your business. Truss will be fine, the people who already deal with social stigma when it comes to stuff will be hurt.

Basically.. Vicky got jealous of Tilda and how much time Triss was spending with her/how willing he was to help out, so she gets this bright idea that he'll do the same for her if she were pregnant, completely ignoring the fact that he doesn't even fkin like her skdjsjdksk..

She stops taking the pill and tries extra hard to be "nice" and get Triss in bed.. but we all saw how successful that was, except the woman has needs you know.. 🙄 so ofc she sleeps around a little on the side, no big deal she thinks..

But now she's pregnant, Triss isn't happy about it after all and instead of being nice to her, he flips out, tells her she'd be a terrible mother then fucks off to Oscar's and completely ignores her.. AND she doesn't even know who the father is

She convinces herself that it MUST be Tristen's, it HAS to be.. except it's not, and now he's left her..... and since he managed to escape her for a lil while, he's also clean which is DISASTROUS because now she can't even cajole him into sticking around 😩

I'd like to say she had this whole scheme planned out or smth interesting up her sleeve but she's just a fkin idiot.. she doesn't even like or want kids and deep down she KNEW Triss didn't love her so this "plan" of hers was completely ridiculous... She's right in that he would've felt some kind of duty towards the kid if it was his though, but I rlly don't think he would've stayed with her.. I actually think if it were his he'd either wanna fight for sole custody (which he'd fail miserably at cos he's an unemployed addict and her parents are posh and wealthy enough for good lawyers 😞) OR he would've suggested adoption, which her parents wouldn't have agreed with either.. and she likes to stick on their side cos.. her allowance/inheritance u kno 🙄 so either way, the outcome would've been the same.. baby stuck being brought up by grandparents

She's far too petulant to admit that she was stupid though, so she'll run crying to her parents that Triss knocked her up and left her, they'll be manipulated into feeling sorry for her and I foresee that over time, she'll leave most if not all of the parenting up to them and carry on her own merry ways without any remorse or regret...... 😬

Although.. I think her parents might be a lil sus abt her story once the baby pops out cos @akitasimblr was right and the father issss...

I'm ngl even I didn't know who the daddy was at first lmao.. but Triss got this sentiment so I think that answers our question (i also checked via mccc ahahakdksjd) 🙈

oh what if Miles, who can’t hear his own hum that his electricity causes, can manipulate the sound that it makes like tuning some instrument. and Hobie strums his guitar and Miles takes a moment to try and mimic the noise by building up his electricity and lowering the amount to get to the next note/sound, and has to look at Hobie for confirmation, but Hobie is just staring thinking of the possibilities of the music they could make with that power . basically Miles not hearing or fully understanding what he’s doing but he knows his friend thinks it’s cool/appreciates the mirroring so he does it anyway.

i've never really liked the kissing someone while they're having a panic attack trope for obvious reasons, but tbh i can kind of see the appeal when it comes to yanderes, at least when it's you kissing the yan mid-panic attack and they don't mind because all that matters suddenly is that you're kissing them and any boundaries they might have had don't matter when it comes to you. one of the big things that's relevant to yanderes is boundaries (or rather the lack thereof), but while it's usually applied to the reader/darling's boundaries being ignored and trampled i personally think it's a lot more fun to play around with the yandere lacking any sense of boundaries when it comes to themselves. it's you, so anything you do to them is okay and good and wanted with no exceptions no matter what

It's been over a month since I've shared anything Visions, and rather than sharing a chapter 10 snippet i bring you a hypothetical scenario with a bit of dialogue

this is something of a complaint post, not theory related.

I frequently(relative to the size of the fandom) see folks say they hope Miquella masterminded Mohg's kidnapping of him, because otherwise, he is 'reduced' to a helpless victim or damsel in distress. This is a super frustrating view and feels hastily applied. If Miquella was kidnapped against his will, this is simply ONE of many things that has happened to him in his life. If the game dwelled ONLY on this, then I could see the argument that he is reduced to a helpless victim. But it doesn't. The game is dripping with Miquella's influence. That boy has been at work EVERYWHERE. He turned his back on his father, who he was very devoted to, because his love and dedication for his sister was greater. He raised up a second Erdtree with his own blood in an effort to improve not just himself but the lives of the beleaguered and oppressed. He saw the curse afflicted on his beloved brother and sought a cure when no one else had answers or even a care. And he saw his own curse and rather than wallow in it, took proactive steps to try to resolve or mitigate it.

There is so much more to Miquella than 'kidnapped by Mohg'. The game is not 'reducing him to a victim' by having this terrible thing happen to him, you are. And this is what's frustrating because this perspective plays out in not just all kinds of fandom spaces, but in reality too. Bad things happen to people, but they are more than the bad thing that happened to them. Still sometimes all anyone focuses on is the bad thing, and nothing else of the person. It's exhausting to see this view perpetuated, and that there is this implication that there should be no victims in media(because then they are JUST a victim, right?), even though these stories are just as worthy of being told as any other.

I get that there are works which definitely botch this subject, but I also think people are really quick to decide a character is being 'reduced to a victim' when the truth is, you are the one who can't see past that to the whole of the character.
