i know (reno/cloud strife covid isolation bs)
CW: swearing, sex, pandemic anxiety Rating: M Notes: This is just the first two bits. Once I finish three, it’ll go up on AO3.
-- It was like The Planet was still pissed at them and wanted them gone for good.
The Shinra scientists that could have told the world where the virus had come from and how to fight it were still very dead, and their replacements were still very young and had yet to complete their training in Mideel, although they quickly found themselves in the very powerful and stressful position of being tasked with doing so anyway.
Kind of like Reno. He’d been trained for sorties, not relief, but he had the unenviable position of being one of a handful of skilled pilots left to run essential drops to and from Midgar and Junon. He was mobilized as soon as the infected count breached two-thousand–which wasn’t a lot, but for the stacked living situation of Midgar’s inhabitants, one didn’t need to be Reeve or a virologist to understand how serious things would get in the next several days and weeks.
Almost immediately, the vulnerable members of their group were shuttered away. Rufus disappeared into his unmarked chateau west of Kalm, Tifa closed the bar and forbade her charges from leaving or anyone else from visiting–friends included–and Cloud had predictably begun packing for his isolation in the Plains before anyone had even advised him to do so.
As field hospitals were being thrown up outside of Edge, Reno tossed Cloud’s duffel bags into his helicopter, its blades still whirring. Cloud wore a sleeved jacket, zipped to the neck, long pants, gloves, and a face mask, and it briefly occurred to Reno that this was the most clothes he’d ever seen his friend wear since they’d been enemies.
“That everything?” Reno asked, his voice muffled by his own mask, which was much heavier than the thin paper one that Cloud wore, and looked odd containing his face when his red hair stuck out in all directions. It had been years since he’d donned a flight suit, and now he was masked and gloved, his sleeves bonded tightly to his wrists with duct tape. He tried not to think of the heat and the sweat rolling down his back as he wiped his hairline with the inside of his elbow–then cursed himself for touching his face.
I’m clean, he had to reassure himself.
Cloud’s lightest sword–he’d need nothing heavier–was the last thing to load. “Yeah. Let’s go.”
With no need for pre-checks, Reno advised Cloud to strap himself in so they could take off.
“Take it easy, Reno,” Cloud asked. “Please.”
All Reno did was nod. Without being able to see his friend’s facial expressions, the experience of talking to him before he was about to drop him off in the middle of nowhere before who-knows-how-long was a strange one that he didn’t want much to do with.
The thirty minute ride to Cloud’s small cabin west of the Old Man’s chocobo farm was almost completely silent, save for the chatter on the radio. Cloud did his best to focus on one point on the horizon to keep from getting sick, but this was the longest time Reno had shut up since they began seeing each other. Like everything else happening around them, it was unsettling.
It hadn’t been long, but the last few months had been an intense whirlwind of absolutely every goddamned thing; Cloud had no idea humans were capable of so much range of emotion. Reno was the first person he’d ever met that he could talk to about nothing for hours, or listen to for hours; the first person he could sit in quiet with, just vibing with each other and soaking up the other’s energy or lack thereof. They were different and had so much in common; they talked about their time in Shinra, compared grunt stories, shared their guilt about the past. Cloud watched videos on his phone while Reno sat next to him, drawing out designs for tattoos or sketching still objects.
They shared space the way they shared cigarettes. Reno was the only person that could invade Cloud’s space the way that he did, and they would talk to each other with faces only inches apart, Reno’s loud voice hushed and low as if he only wanted Cloud to hear what he said. Cloud normally avoided eye contact, but he repaid Reno’s exclusive intimacy with his full attention, blue eyes to blue eyes, and it always appeared to observers that they drank each other up while only talking about the weather or their week’s plans.
They danced like they fucked, and the whole world that saw them had no issue imagining the latter. No enemies to fight left them with free time to explore themselves without the Company bleeding into their identities. Reno had no trouble with that; he’d been many things before a Turk and a soldier, but the military was all Cloud knew, and transformation had been a unique one. Reno had done street dancing since he was a kid, Cloud picked up pole dancing to recover atrophied muscle from his long illness, and they met each other in the middle.
Cloud’s gymnastic abilities from his time in the army had given him a knack for this new craft that had gotten him to the position of an instructor within six months. It had taken more than a decade for Reno to be that good, but he didn’t care. He loved seeing Cloud move his body in unexpected ways; he loved teaching Cloud choreography in his own craft, and he loved how willing a student he was.
Dancing was their second bed. It was their primary form of communication besides sex, and now all of it was gone. Gone, for the foreseeable future. No classes, no showcases, no shared knowledge, no shared space, no shared cigarettes, no shared pole, no shared bed. Just unreadable gazes over partially obscured faces.
Cloud tried not to think about that. He at least, was fine being alone for long stretches of time, and had experience with compartmentalizing grief, but he worried for his friend, who was widely known to be rather shit at containing himself or doing without.
For now, Reno seemed to be running on enough adrenaline for him to focus on things other than the fact that he wouldn’t be making out with Cloud in public or sharing a blunt in private with him; that all the new ways they’d found pleasure and comfort within the confines of their relationship had been ripped away overnight.
When things slowed down a bit, Reno would be the first to lose it. Cloud knew it, but he sat there and said nothing until the helicopter landed near the grassy knoll about a half-click away from the half-furnished cabin Cloud had bought a season ago.
Reno did nothing to change that. He left his mask in his seat, left the engine running, kicking up grass and dirt and pollen all around them, dismounted and immediately set to grabbing as many of Cloud’s things as he could carry. Cloud jumped out himself and did the same, squinting his eyes against the foreign particles that flew into them.
They worked in tandem like they were on some jungle mission, like they’d known each other in their infantry days. They didn’t waste a single movement, passing each other items to set on the ground, rotating to grab more. Their last dance for a good while.
It was getting dark. Both of them needed to hurry for different reasons. Reno was expected in Junon to pick up personnel and supplies, and he preferred not to fly at night. Cloud had no electricity and needed to rectify that before his phone died and his perishable food went bad.
“Drop it here.” It was about twenty paces from the front door, but the items were heavy and Cloud didn’t want to keep Reno.
“You sure?” Before Reno got an answer, he set the box of cooking supplies down and dropped the duffel bag he’d carried.
Cloud ripped off his paper mask, now filled with bits of hay and other allergens.
“Yeah. Go,” he encouraged.
Cloud’s hair whipped around, strands of it smacking harshly into his eyes, causing him to squint. Reno’s look was indecipherable, a sign that he was miles away from Cloud and their shared life already. Cloud was glad for that. Had millions of people not been counting on Reno then, and had he been capable of realizing in that moment that this was the last time he would actually see Cloud’s face for what promised to be a very long while, he would have violated both Clouds and Mideel’s social distance boundary and drowned him with his tongue.
Quietly, he admired that about Reno; his unwavering professionalism and his focus when something was important. It was a quality his own branch of friends never saw over his swagger and brashness.
He’d wanted to end on a lighter note, and tell him how good he looked in a flight suit, but it seemed grossly inappropriate to do at that moment, with Reno’s hardened mindset in full consideration. All he could manage was “Take care of yourself. Wash your hands.”
“You too, Cloud.” Reno turned back toward his bird, calling out over his shoulder, his voice getting louder as he approached the chopper’s blades. “Call if you need somethin’, and I’ll get it to you.”
“I will.” He would try not to, really, but he said it for Reno’s sake. “Text me when you’re home!”
“Keep your fuckin’ phone on!” The last thing Reno yelled from the seat of his chopper before taking off was “And call Tifa!”
Cloud shielded his eyes and watched the aircraft for a few moments more before tearing away and moving into work mode himself.
II.
The trip to Junon was only supposed to last about as long as it took to get there, but the ritual of inventory and decontamination had placed Reno’s departure time at 2300. The medics that were meant to go with him refused, preferring instead to return home and leave at Junon until first light.
Junon was the last place Reno wanted to be for any stretch of time. The idea of having to either sleep over at his mother’s place or hear her incessant bitching once she inevitably found out he’d stayed in the barracks instead made him nauseous.
No amount of swearing or cajoling could convince them to make the forty-five minute trip back to Midgar. The soldiers had all been conveniently converted into contractors, and in the time since Meteorfall, they’d learned how to take full advantage of that. A phone call from Cid made the night worse.
“Cid,” Reno said, turning from the medics and making his way off the heliport. “You motherfucker, please give me some good fuckin’ news.”
“You’re supposed to give me the good news, dumbass!” Cid hollered through the phone. Reno found a chance to smile. He figured that one day, when he was old and crusty, he’d be just like Cid, who didn’t even have that many years on him. “Ain’t you taking doctors over there?"
"Not doctors, medics. They’re all in Midgar already. There ain’t no more.” Reno lit a cigarette, knowing that Cid was likely doing the same. “I could use some help here, y'know.”
“I know that, idjit! What do you think I’m doing?"
"What’s going on with the Highwind?"
"Highwind is in Mideel already. Shera’s getting geared up n’ ready to go, I just need a crew.”
Reno paused. “What happened to the one you got?"
"One of ‘em got sick.”
Reno’s heart sank. “One?"
"If one’s sick, they’re all sick.” Cid ended the sentence with a brief string of dry coughs. Normally this would have been attributed to his smoker’s lung and wouldn’t be a problem but something about it didn’t sound right. Or Reno could be overreacting.
“You alright there, Old Man?"
"Go fuck yourself,” Cid squeezed out between coughs.
Reno didn’t feel good about it. “I dunno. Might wanna lay off the smoking for a bit.”
“I’m gettin’ off this phone, before I reach through it and choke your ass out.”
Reno stood on the helipad for a moment to collect himself.
Experience and a sour gut feeling told him that he’d be on his own for a minute.
He turned back to the helipad and dialed the number of one of the medics who was supposed to be on the flight to Midgar.
“Hello?"
"Hey, it’s your pilot.” Reno spoke clearly and took the edge out of his accent, to give himself the best opportunity at being understood the first time he explained. “Here’s what I want you to do. You’re gonna find me two people to replace you on this flight. You’re gonna tell them that people are needing their help in Midgar, and you’re gonna tell them to meet me at the helipad with their gear in a half hour. Tell them the dude with red hair is gonna be waiting on them. Got it?”
“Yeah,” a yawn, Got it.”
“Then repeat it back to me.”
A pause. “Everyone’s asleep.”
“Wake them up.” Reno wasn’t sure how long he could keep it up.
“… And what if I don’t?"
Reno paused himself, and his tongue slackened. "You will, because I have the fuckin’ crew manifest, and I know your fuckin’ names, and I know where you’re billeted, so you’ll either get your lazy asses on this flight like you’re s'pposed to, find suitable replacements, or I’m coming down to the Medical Det F Company, A Suite, Room… ” Reno paused to look at his phone, “…309, and I'mma throw you and your fuck buddy there out that three story window, and nobody’s gonna be there to scrape you off the fuckin’ concrete, cuz they’ll all be in Midgar doin’ their jobs while you two hid in your rooms like pussies."
"Heard.” Click.
It took everything for Reno not to throw his phone. Since the Administrative Research Division had ceased to function as an entity, he hadn’t been in the habit of reminding people that he was once a Turk, but if he were that kind of asshole, none of that would have been necessary.
They made good on their agreement. In thirty five minutes, two energetic female medics ran up to Reno with their packs, obviously eager to escape Junon’s strict containment rules.
“Midgar?” One of them said.
“I’ll be damned!” Reno tossed his cigarette and kicked himself off the side of his vehicle. “Y'all ready to work?"
"Please,” the younger one said. “Get us out of here.”
“You got it.”

“Can Love Really Stretch So Far” PART 2 The Electric Boogaloo
So I finally got around to writing that TFP Soundwave “nice ending” since a lot of people were upsetti that his ending was just me bullying him in the original fic, SO!!! Here’s a snippet of what I have so far. This new fic is gonna fit into the series theme of health by basically covering depression and healing weakened/unhealthy Spark Bonds.
If you can already guess how this is gonna play out I’ll write the first person who tells me a drabble lmao
________________
Soundwave had lost the will to function.
This was not a surprise to him, as apparently it was a long time coming. It was only because of his little shuttle that his optics were opened to his own reality.
That he had been ghosting through functioning for millennia by now, a piece of his spark flaking off with each deactivation of his cassetticons. The light of life in his optics dimming as he wadded unthinkingly and unknowingly further away from his dreams, his want for equality, his hope for a better life for those he loves.
Loved.
Soundwave had lost the will to function, and he was ok with this.
He hadn’t realized that he had a warped view of love until it was forcibly taken from him. He never realized how addicting it was to have his spark filled with warm affection, of promises of devotion, of pleasant tingling that he could get lost in, until as suddenly as it appeared, it was gone.
He hadn’t realized that those warm, comforting feelings that came with a healthy Bond were no longer present in his Amica Bond with his Lord, until he felt them missing when his little shuttle had left, taking their strange Conjunx Bond with him.
Soundwave had lost the will to function, and those he thought cared about him never even noticed.
After his little shuttle and his strange crew went back to their world, after they had decimated the Decepticon army and left them in ruins, Soundwave merely drifted. He wasn’t really aware or cared to be aware of what was going on around him. What he saw in his little shuttle’s memory files was like opening his optics for the first time.
It was like seeing his world, his choices, his actions in a brand new perspective.
And he hated all of it.
Soundwave had lost his will to function, and it started long before he met a little green shuttle named Cosmos.
But still, he functions, because what else can he do?
Nothing, really. He’s powerless to change his life now. Forced to watch all his bad choices and actions crumble around him. But they feel distant, like he’s watching a scene from a holo-vid, not experiencing his own life.
He watches the Nemesis fall from the sky, and crash into one of this planet’s oceans, sinking to the bottom like the useless weight she is.
He watches his Lord descend into lunacy from his losses-- or was he always this insane and Soundwave had just never noticed?
He watches the dwindling army finally become wiped out in its last battle with the Autobots.
He watches, and sees, Knockout and Breakdown fighting, red badges centre focus on their frames. He finds he no longer cares about their cowardice, for he also does nothing to stop them from slaughter their former underlings. Is that cowardice of himself? Treason? He finds he doesn’t care.
He watches, and does nothing, as his Lord is brought down not by his own arch rival, his longest enemy, and his only equal in battle-- but by the young yellow scout. He feels the thin, weak, neglected Amica Bond he once shared with a well-spoken, hopeful mech named Megatronous snap like an old, dried out rust stick. Easily and in a million pieces.
He watches as the Autobots take a moment to realize the gravity of their actions, that the war is truly over with the single thrust of a blade, before one of them thinks to look up at him. It was Knockout, the medic’s wheels spin nervously on his back, like he expects Soundwave to attack them or something foolish. Then Breakdown, moving to cover the little red medic on instinct, most likely responding to his healthy Conjunx Bond. He must feel the good doctor’s anxiety. Soundwave misses feeling that.
He watches as the Autobots raise their arms at him. How foolish, he did nothing to stop them take down his Lord, why would he fight them now?
He watches the look of confusion cross their faceplates as his servos grip his Decepticon badges on his shoulders.
He watches as they gasp when he rips both of them off and toss them to the ground. What do they expect? The Decepticon cause is no more, they just slew him, his energon is still pooling around their pedes. He has no right to be wearing the insignia of an ideal he no longer follows, or the badge of the Lord he let be slaughtered in front of him. With that thought, he also reaches up to unlatch the faceplate he has worn for so long, discarding the pane of glass that had been his only method of communication for vorns on the ground with little ceremony or second thought.
He watches as the world’s colour changes before his optics, it becomes brighter, more colourful, vibrant. Is this how his little shuttle experienced life? Without the dark hue of a visor hiding him away from what was right in front of him? He kind of hates it.
He watches as Optimus Prime moves towards him.
He watches the Prime freeze as he speaks for the first time in over four million years: “Autobots: Victorious. Soundwave: Offers congratulations. Request: Do not follow.”
He watches as the Autobots lurch forward to grab him as he transforms.
He watches their silhouettes shrink as he flies off, the smattering of their blasterfire nowhere close enough to his frame to stop his flight.
Soundwave had lost his will to function, and all he can do is watch the remains of his life vanish behind him.
_________________
Soundwave has no idea where he is, nor does he care to find out. He flew for what seemed like vorns, yet also only felt like breems. He flew until he saw where the land on this planet ended and only another ocean stretched out in front of him.
Not feeling like flying until his fuel ran out, dooming himself to drop from the sky and sink to the bottom like his former warship, Soundwave landed.
It was a small island he found himself on, one with a small mountain range, covered in organic forests and one small human settlement that he could see, but didn’t care about. He bypasses the human controlled area quickly, and instead landed at the base of a mountain.
He had finally caught his little shuttle at the base of a similar mountain.
Losing himself in the memory of the chase, Soundwave could almost feel the emotions running through his spark once again. The pleasure, the terror, the thrill, the resignation, the power, the helplessness, the desire, the revulsion, the static, the static.
A hesitant, yet insistent, pinging came from Laserbeak, reminding him to finish seeking out a hideaway. He sent a conformational ping back, and began to circle the mountain side.
A little ways down he found what he was looking for, a cave opening. Laserbeak dutifully undocked without prompting, and flew over to explore the crevice. He stood there, silent and unmoving until she returned, docking once again and sharing her findings. The space was a little narrow, but he would be able to fit in with some maneuvering, but down a ways the cavern opened up a little more, large enough that he would be able to stand and stretch without problems, but little else.
It would do.
With that Soundwave began to crawl through the opening, and twist around the narrow passage until it opened up into that promised larger space. He settled along the far wall, struts splayed out on the ground in front of him, back strut resting against the rough rock.
“Laserbeak: Disengage.”
He could feel confusion through their connection, yet she was loyal and detached herself as asked. She floated for a little bit, unsure of what to do or where to go, before settling on her Host’s pede, turning a single optic up at his bare faceplates.
“Laserbeak: Free to leave. Soundwave: No longer fit in role of Host. Recommended: Trail Autobots to find new Host.”
Her outrage, confusion, and hurt burst across his spark like blasterfire. Her plating ruffled in anger and indignation. How dare Soundwave try and get rid of her!
“Correction: Soundwave loves Laserbeak.” As he said this he realized it was true. He cared deeply for the casseticon, and really didn’t want to lose her like he had lost all her siblings, and yet… “Soundwave: Unfit to love Laserbeak. Actions: Brought forth the downfall of Decepticon cause. Actions: Let siblings offline. Actions: Let Bonds grow weak and unhealthy. Actions: No longer able to provide for Laserbeak. Consequences: Laserbeak will offline if she stays with Soundwave. Solution: Laserbeak must leave to continue functioning.”
She stared up at him, worry and resignation coming to him through their Bond. What about him? What would happen to him if she left?
“Soundwave: Lost will to function. Consequence: Directionless. Solution: Deactivate here. Recommended: Laserbeak continue to function with new Host.”
She stared at him, her end of the Bond oddly silent. After a little while, she rearranged her wings and flew off, disappearing through the cave tunnel.
Soundwave tried not to feel hurt as he watched her go. Instead he powered down into a light stasis.

6 Ways To Create Your Own Unique Maps For Dungeons & Dragons (or Path Finder, or Fate, or Powered by the Apocalypse, or...)
If you’re creating a campaign for your players, one of the first things you should think about is your setting. Where your game takes place is going to have a huge impact on the story you and your players create together, from the environments you explore to the type of people you encounter along the way.
Once you’ve decided roughly where your game is happening, you’re going to need a map so you can keep the information straight - is the city of Fellworth North or South of the Misten Marshes? How long is the road from Ripton to the coast?
Maps are also useful in combat, using minis, dice or jelly beans to keep track of where your players, and monsters, are fighting, and giving your players a better sense of the environment they’re in, and how they can use it to their advantage.
Often, DMs find map creation intimidating, but it’s actually surprisingly easy. Here are six ways you can create maps for your setting, individual town or combat encounters, including what they work best for, how easy they are to create, and how much they’re likely to cost you.
1) Hand Drawn Maps
Perfect For: Entire Settings, Towns, Cities or Battle Maps, they’re  really versatile Cost: $ Difficulty: *** Supplies: 1-Inch Squared Paper, Hex-Grid Paper, Pencils, Erasers, Fine Liners
Hand drawing a map can seem impossible, but you’d be surprised at how easily you can create really great maps with just pens and paper. Start with a gridded paper, for battle maps you’ll want one inch squared, for larger locations smaller squares or hexes will work better.
Draw a few thumbnails, very small and simple sketches where you play around with where the key points of the map will be placed, such as towns, rivers, roads and landmarks. Remember everything should be connected to everything else, and try to lay the map out so your players will be encouraged to encounter things in the order you’d prefer - don’t put the BBEG’s lair right outside the starting town!
Once you have your thumbnails, create a pencil sketch on the gridded paper, and don’t be afraid to erase things and move them around if they don’t look right. Once everything is in place, line the map with a fine liner to make everything clearer.
if you want the map to be something your players can find and use, you give it an awesome old-world fantasy look by crumpling the paper, tearing the edges and tea staining it to give it a great parchment colour.
2) Map Tiles
Perfect For: Dungeons and Battle Maps Cost: $$$ Difficulty: * Supplies: Dungeon/Map Tiles
Map tiles are a great way to quickly create dungeons and battle maps, and are designed to work well with minis and other accessories. They’re perfect for first time DMs who might be a little nervous about creating completely from scratch, or for one shot games where you want to get everything up and running as quick as possible.
A set of map tiles can be combined in millions of different ways, but, after a while, the dungeons and locations will start to feel a little samey, as your players start to see the same elements over and over. Another disadvantage is that sets of tiles can be quite expensive, £10 - £20 pounds for a set, especially as most tiles can only be used for certain terrains, but they are a really great way of quickly making your battles look really good.
You can get official map tiles for Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder in a variety of terrain, or get a set from a third party company like Red Dragon Gaming.
3) Photoshop
Perfect For: Maps of Large Settings or Towns Cost: $ Difficulty: ** Supplies: Photoshop or a similar image editing program, a map brush pack, a computer
This is how I create many of the maps of my larger setting and towns. Photoshop, or a similar editing programs like GIMP, are a really easy way to create great looking maps quickly, and while not quite as adaptable as hand-drawn maps they are a lot more approachable for a beginner.
All you need to do is install a map brush pack, I use this one but there are hundreds available, and get to work! Decide what the major landmarks of your map need to be, and how you want them to be positioned in relation to each other. Feel free to shift things around, delete or enlarge aspects until you have something you’re happy with!
4) 3D Terrain
Perfect For: Battle Maps, Impressing Your Players Cost: $$$$$ Difficulty: *** Supplies: Either pre-built 3D terrain or modelling supplies
Leading your players into a climactic final battle, then pulling out a carefully constructed 3D map for them to place their minis in looks and feels absolutely incredible. 3D terrain is made up of the map the players stand on, often textured with artificial grass, sand or stone, and then 3D representations of the trees, barrels, pillars, doors, sacrificial altars or whatever else you’ve chosen to surround them with.
You can choose to make your own terrain, which is difficult and time-consuming but incredibly satisfying, or purchase ready-made terrain on amazon, from your local game shop, or on hand-made marketplaces like etsy.
Terrain can quickly become expensive, especially if your buying multiple pieces for each battle, so i would recommend saving it for when you really want to make an impact on your players, at the conclusion of a campaign arc, for example, or when they’re fighting a boss who has pursued them to the ends of the earth.
Luckily, if you’d like to make your own terrain, there are a wealth of tutorials out there on how to turn some basic modelling and craft supplies into gorgeous tiny scenery.
5) Existing Maps
Perfect For: Campaign Settings, Towns and Cities Cost: $ Difficulty: * Supplies: Google Maps, ordinance survey maps, other kinds of maps
It may feel like cheating, but there’s nothing wrong with using existing maps for your campaign. I draw inspiration for my settings from maps of the Lake District, in the north of England, because its combination of mountains, small towns and forests is perfect for fantasy settings, but you can use maps of anywhere you like!
Take a map of an existing area of the size and climate of your campaign setting, print it off or make a photocopy and then go at it with a pen, labels or whiteout. Change the names of towns, rivers and forests, add in any key landmarks you might need, and think about how the location you’ve chosen will influence your campaign. Remeber, there’s nothing wrong with borrowing from real life.
6) Theatre of the Mind
Perfect For: Battles, Dungeons, Travels across distant lands Cost: - Difficulty: *** Supplies: Your imagination, Some willing players
This one is sort of cheating on my part, but I think having battles and journeys take place in the imagination of the players and the DM is often underrated. While it can be tempting to break out the squared paper and minis every time there’s a combat encounter, carefully describing the action as it happens can often be more exciting, as well as being quicker and more streamlined.
using the theatre of the mind keeps players engaged, because it doesn’t draw them out of the experience to set up the battle map, and it saves the DM time and money because they don’t have to prepare anything in advance. it’s perfect for small encounters, particularly those that the DM might not have planned for, but isn’t so great for large battles with multiple enemies, or important pieces of scenery or objects that the players have to keep in mind. It’s also quite mentally demanding for the DM to keep track of where every player and monster is, and what everyone is doing at any one time.
Nevertheless, creating the map in your mind will sometimes be the way to go. make sure you describe distances in increments of five feet, so players will know where they can reach with their movement, and who is within range of their spells and attack. Try to give flavour by using descriptive language, let your players know what they can see, smell and hear in the environment, it’ll make the setting seem more real and help your creation come to life. Most importantly, have fun!

FAQ On Bonus Rounds
The best online slots are the source of excitement and enjoyment for players. When it comes to free slots, the size and frequency of payouts don’t matter because you can’t really win anything when playing in demo mode. When choosing a free slot, you need to consider other factors, such as design, plot, theme, and extra features. A newbie can easily get lost in the variety of one-armed bandits. For starters, we recommend that you focus on classic slots and advanced 3D slots.
If you’re playing for real money, you definitely can! During free spins, your winning chances are higher than usual. At the same time, we know how you can make some amazing profits without spending your own bankroll. You have two options:
You can get a no-deposit bonus and use it to win a round sum.
You can monitor gambling sites for promotions. It’s not uncommon that online casinos encourage players with free spins. Keep in mind that such special offers are limited in time. For example, a promotion can only be valid for 2-3 hours, with free spins available for 30-40 minutes. Stay alert and don’t miss your chance to get your hand on free spins!
If you’ve won free spins while playing a real-money slot, you have all chances to fatten up your bankroll. Every winning combination you land during free spins generates a real money profit. By the way, the bet you made in the last regular spin is the one that will apply during an entire free spins round.
Free spins are a very popular bonus found in online slots. Most of the time, free spins are triggered by three or more Scatter symbols. You get an opportunity to make a specific number of spins without spending your bankroll. In other words, the casino awards you with free spins that cost you nothing. At the same time, all payouts that you earn during free spins are absolutely real. In some games, the number of free spins depends on the number of Scatters landed on the reels. The more Scatters, the more free spins you’ll get. During free spins, you can also benefit from extra multipliers. In some titles, you can only land high-paying symbols during free spins, which is fantastic. All these perks make free spins a brilliant opportunity to make some amazing profits!
One-armed bandits are characterized by two major quantitative parameters: RTP and volatility. RTP shows what part of bets a slot returns to players over a long term. Volatility has to do with the frequency and size of payouts. There are slots that have small but frequent payouts and those that pay out rarely but generously. Which type of slots to choose depends on your personality and goal. Check out slots with super high RTP. Click here to see slots with frequent payouts.
The beauty of slot machines is that they offer all kinds of attractive bonuses, including free spins, multi-level arcade games, risk (double) games, and many more. Which bonuses you consider the best depends on your personal preferences. We have scrutinized the top popular bonuses found in slots and identified the best offers. Click here to find out more!

Fortnite how to share v bucks
Hack Fortnite
Fortnite refers to a videogame series, set in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested world. Even though Fortnite may be far more recognized for its PvP Battle Royale mode , it is essentially just one particular mode of a single game alongside the original PvE mode identified as 'Save the Planet.' As such, the two modes share a game client, as properly an in-game currency referred to as V-Bucks. Even though V-Bucks can be bought for income, it can also be earned in PvE, major some PvP players to use this shared economy to their benefit, farming PvE games to earn V-Bucks to spend once again in PvP. And it really is causing some difficulties.
With new iterations of battle royale games getting launched on a typical basis, this is a genre that shows no signs of slowing down. However, it's not possible to predict if today's leading games like Fortnite and PUBG will stay on top for long. Equivalent to the MOBA genre exactly where League of Legends and Dota two have dominated more than all other games, we'll most likely at some point get to a point where 2-4 games will dominate the genre, but only time will tell which games will top rated the leader board. Any game developer attempting to challenge today's battle royale leaders will have a tall order to fill — and more not too long ago, Auto Chess as an even newer contender.
This is where the social aspect of Fortnite intersects with its finances. In a study of 1,000 Fortnite players by LendEDU, nearly 69 percent produced in-game purchases, averaging $84.67 every single. All of that commerce translates into some of the highest rates of revenue-per-user in the industry and operating margins north of 50 percent, according to analysts.
For months, Sony didn't enable complete Fortnite cross-platform play with the other main consoles, angering players isolated from close friends even though nevertheless playing on the world's most common console. Sony repeatedly claimed players' experiences may well be diminished, but it later announced a cross-platform beta would allow PS4 players to connect with each Xbox and Switch players. The system presently covers PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox A single, Microsoft Windows and Mac platforms.
There is one more way to earn absolutely free V-Bucks in Battle Royale, while it requires you to have at least level 70 due to the difficulty of the mission in question. These are the defense missions of Twine Peaks, in which you have elmm.info fortnite battle royale v bucks generator to survive a lot of waves of enemies alongside other players whilst trying to safeguard an area.
youtube
In Fortnite, players can join their close friends in collecting supplies, and they can develop forts, and fight waves of husks and monsters. Pick from four heroes: (1) crafty constructors, (2) versatile soldiers, (3) lethal ninjas, and (4) speedy outcasts to fight against husks. Constructors are good at developing factors while Soldiers are nicely-rounded and can match different roles. Ninjas are masters at close range combat and exploration, and Outlanders are the treasure hunters exceptional at gathering resources for creating and other useful things.
Battle royale games like Fortnite and Apex Legends are expanding esports by acquiring an entirely new group of players and viewers excited about playing a game and competing against 1 one more. Brands that previously knew absolutely nothing about esports and had no direct connection to the gaming industry are following suit and realizing the possible in the addition, core groups of new viewers and players are joining the esports community each day, wanting to get a piece of the action.
Even if there has been a decrease there are nevertheless hundreds of millions of registered accounts and tens of millions of actives players. Games as massive as Fortnite don't disappear over evening. Fortnite Season 10 will be exciting as effectively as it is added some of the most significant alterations to the game yet with new Fortnite Missions replacing the long standing Battle Pass challenges. Will those changes draw in player's or push them away? Only time will tell, so for now study up on every little thing we know about how numerous folks play Fortnite.
Save the Globe players feel their preferred mode keeps finding flooded with fairweather players who have no vested interest in the wider mechanics of PvE. Rather, they are just employing Save the World to scrape and save V-Bucks earned in everyday logins or quests. Players who are away from their keyboards and players who can't commit to the rigors of co-op play are problematic due to the fact the game is heavily reliant on operating with each other.
Tumblr media
Obviously Fortnite is in early access, and Epic has every single ideal to tweak the nuts and bolts as they see match, but this change was surreptitiously launched onto the servers with no warning or disclosure, which is constantly a wonderful way to brew up an totally avoidable disaster. In 1 of the funniest and most poignant posts on the subreddit , a Battle Royale lifer authored an olive branch in solidarity, stating, "I know y'all hate us at FortniteBR, but for this a single, everyone is with you." There's nothing like the brotherhood of gamer outrage.
The pressing one here is the date requirement up prime, indicating that you need to have had two of these accounts across a PS4 and an Xbox or Switch prior to the date Sony initially announced cross-play and progression. A further really critical 1 is that your actual in-game progress does not transfer, so make positive you happen to be not nuking an account with a almost completed battle pass when you could simply move your cosmetics over from a further platform as an alternative. All in all, it really is not a fantastic option, but it seems to be the greatest we've got at the moment, and it really is definitely a godsend compared to inoperable platform nightmare Fortnite players faced when the Switch version very first launched final June.
The significant quantity you will see talked about is that Fortnite has 250 million players in total as of March 2019. That is a count of each registered account although, which in all probability consists of a couple of inactive accounts. In terms of who's essentially playing, then the highest quantity of players active in a month so far is 78.three million, recorded in August 2018.

Review: The 1972 Annual World's Best SF
For years and years, I’ve been collecting editions of the Annual World’s Best SF anthology series edited by Donald A. Wollheim, which ran from 1972 to 1990. A couple of years ago I decided to commit to reading or rereading every single one of them - and to reviewing every single story in each of them on Goodreads. As of now, I’ve gotten through 10 of them and reviewed a total of 107 stories, which can all be found here!
I’m doing this partly to expose myself to a wide range of SF in order to grow as an SF author, and partly  because there are so many great SF authors whose work didn’t just stick around in public consciousness for one reason or another. I’ve found so many authors that I absolutely love and had never heard of before. (And because those authors are not widely read, it makes me feel like a total SF hipster, which is perversely enjoyable.)
Here are the reviews of the stories from the 1972 edition:
The Fourth Profession, Larry Niven
Well what do you know. I’ve read a few things by Larry Niven and straight-up disliked most of them, but this one was very fun. A few mysterious aliens have landed on Earth, and a bartender happens to get one of them way too drunk and is given pills that essentially give him superpowers. It’s well-paced and funny, with likeable characters and surprisingly high stakes. The ending didn’t quite live up to the rest of the story, but I still liked this a lot.
Gleepsite, Joanna Russ
The editor’s intro to this one recommended reading it twice or even three times, and I’m glad it did, because it’s pretty much impenetrable on the first read – but once I figured out what was going on, it was really cool and fairly chilling. It packs a huge amount of worldbuilding and characterization into about five pages. I’d hate to spoil it so I’ll just say, it opens on a woman with bat wings pedaling dream machines in a polluted dystopian wasteland where most of the men on Earth have died, and goes all sorts of even weirder places from there.
The Bear with the Knot on His Tail, Stephen Tall
Eh. Maybe it’s just that this story is closing in on 50 years old, but it was really just a bog-standard ‘humans discover the first alien life and oh no they’re in trouble’ story. I really thought there was going to be an interesting twist at the end – I even thought I could see how they were setting it up – but nope.
The Sharks of Pentreath, Michael G. Coney
In the near-ish future, overpopulation has resulted in a system where at any given time, two-thirds of the population is kept in Matrix-style tanks and can interact with the outside world via tiny robots, and people swap out on regular schedules. The story’s about an innkeeper at a popular tourist destination who is currently in non-Matrix-mode and who is kind of a dick. I always like SF where the speculative part is just a backdrop to a character-based story, but there was something about the whole concept that just didn’t feel quite right to me - and honestly, the main character was just too much of an asshole for his ‘I learned a lesson’ moment to ring true for me.
A Little Knowledge, Poul Anderson
Three human criminals stranded on a planet of extremely pacifistic aliens kidnap an alien space pilot so that they can sell forbidden technology to a warrior race. I loved everything about the premise, the characters, the worldbuilding, the plot resolution, etc – but the pacing was bizarrely bad, particularly when compared to how strong everything else was. Huge exposition dumps, lengthy scenes that were interesting but have little plot importance followed by rushing through much more significant events, more exposition, etc. Still worth reading, but man, somebody should have taken a scalpel to this thing.
Real-Time World, Christopher Priest
A group of research scientists in an enclosed space station are secretly being manipulated by the people who sent them there, via carefully controlled feeds of news and information personalized for each of them. I loved this at the beginning, but then a bunch of additional SF concepts and twisty plot elements were added in, and then more, and then more. Which could have been cool, but in practice it just wound up making kind of an incoherent hash of what could have been two or even three good stories.
All Pieces of a River Shore, R. A. Lafferty
Perfect from start to finish… almost entirely. An eccentric Native American collector of Old West and Native American artifacts has run across a few impossibly detailed, several-foot-long paintings of the banks of the Mississippi River. He has a theory that there are even more of them out there, and that they might actually depict the entire span of the river when put together. I loved everything about this – but the final cymbal-crash line that explains the mystery pretty much requires you to have had personal experience with 1970s information storage technology. I had to google the story to figure out what the hell was going on, and once I did, it was like “Oh! I see, awesome!”
With Friends Like These . . . , Alan Dean Foster
Hundreds of thousands of years ago, there was a galactic war in which the humans, fighting on the side of the good guys, destroyed the enemy so thoroughly and terrifyingly that the rest of the galaxy forced them all back to Earth and barricaded them in there. But now the bad guys are back, so the other good guys plan to free these mythical monstrous warriors. I wasn’t mad at this, but I personally dislike the trope of ‘humans are the most exceptional race in the galaxy.’ (Also, in general I feel like 70s SF throws a lot of psychic abilities shit around when there’s no real need or justification for it, so that aspect was also annoying.)
Aunt Jennie's Tonic, Leonard Tushnet
A research chemist interviews his old-country hedge-witch-style aunt in order to discover the secrets of her medicines. There was a lot I liked about this, but the main character was just too much of an idiot for me to be fully immersed in it. “I’m purposefully not even writing down the parts of these processes that I think are bullshit, even though there’s no real reason not to” plus “I didn’t make any backup copies of my notes on this incredibly valuable medicine recipe” equals how the hell did you ever manage to become a research chemist in the first place.
Timestorm, Eddy C. Bertin
Did you know that changing the past in a way that you’d think would be beneficial might actually cause something terrible to happen? A guy gets transported to a future place where aliens are doing things to Earth’s past that seem bad, he stops them, oh no they were actually helping. Like the third story, this was either unoriginal at the time or feels unoriginal now that we’ve seen it a million times. And the collection of things that the aliens were manipulating was weirdly arbitrary – stopping the birth of Hitler and the birth of… the Marquis de Sade? Really? And of course, since this was written in 1971, it opens on the assassination of JFK.
Transit of Earth, Arthur C. Clarke
Ok, well this almost made me cry. A Mars exploration mission is doomed and they’re going to run out of food/oxygen, so everyone but one man takes suicide pills early in order to give the man enough time to record a rare astrological phenomenon before he dies. The story is written as a combination of his notes of the transit of Earth plus his personal reflections on life and death. It’s really great. (There is also an almost completely throw-away suggestion that maybe just maybe there are also aliens on Mars, which added absolutely nothing to the plot and probably should have been edited out.)
Gehenna, K. M. O'Donnell (aka Barry N. Malzberg)
This was gorgeous. It’s three vignettes about characters with intersecting lives – all of them go to the same party, and their meeting there changes their lives in various ways, but each story also takes place in a just slightly different world. It uses parallel universes as a metaphor for how everyone’s experience of the world and their conception of themselves is totally different from what other people see. The fact that the stories are taking place in parallel universes is established at the beginning of each vignette by a device that I thought was really cool – each character takes the subway down from Times Square to get to the party, and the stations they pass are all numbered differently. (I looked up another review of this and the reviewer described it as ‘funny’ and ‘an amusing puzzle,’ which is hilarious to me – I thought “how could we have read it so differently” and then realized that that’s exactly what the story is about…)
One Life, Furnished in Early Poverty, Harlan Ellison
Earlier in this project I read Jeffty is Five, also by Harlan Ellison, and this is so similar that I would have known immediately that it was the same author even if I wasn’t already aware. You can never go back to your lovingly-described childhood which specifically involves a lot of comic books and radio dramas and delicious no-longer-produced candy, but you desperately want to because your adult life is boring, but if you try to, it will have terrible consequences, because childhood is delicate and precious. This story is good on a technical level but that theme just doesn’t do anything for me at all, so I didn’t love it.
Occam's Scalpel, Theodore Sturgeon
The mysterious head of a shadowy criminal organization is about to die, and his personal doctor is worried about the right-hand man who is primed to replace him, so he goes to his brother for help… but what kind of help? There are a couple things in this story that are awfully convenient, and it does rely on a super-genius being tricked in a way that an actual super-genius would almost certainly see right through, but I liked the concept enough to overlook those things.

Game Of The Year 2020
It’s the time of the year for me to celebrate my personal favourite video-games for the year once again, and what a year 2020 has been! It’s brought us an all-too-realistic and all-too-immersive version of Plague Inc. by giving us an actual pandemic, and let’s not even go into all the other ways in which the year has been an utter and complete mess!
At the same time, what a year in gaming 2020 has been - and considering 2020, we probably needed all these games to keep us sane. 2020 brought us, very recently, a whole new generation of excellent consoles to play on (I’ve been loving every minute of the PS5 so far). The legendary remake of Final Fantasy VII which was an impossible dream not long ago *actually* released this year - well, the first episode did, at least. Even the legendary Cyberpunk 2077 released this year, although maybe this should be classified as one of the ways in which 2020 has been a mess... Annnnnyway, notwithstanding a few disappointments here and there, 2020 has been full of excellent surprises and wonderful games. So, without further ado, allow me to introduce my personal games of the year for 2020...
Game of the Year 2020: Persona 5 Royal (PS4)
Tumblr media
I don’t see Persona 5 Royal often on most GOTY lists, perhaps because it’s not quite as mainstream as other games, or perhaps because it’s not so much a completely new game and more of an enhanced re-release. And indeed, I normally do not consider enhanced re-releases whenever I decide on my GOTY for the year. Persona 5 Royal, however, is far too special to me to not be my GOTY.
I played Persona 5 Royal in the middle of lockdown, and it is no understatement for me to say that in over two decades of gaming, Persona 5 Royal is among my most special experiences ever. I should note that I loved the original Persona 5 tremendously, so much so that I awarded it one of my rare 100/100s. I very nearly even considered skipping Persona 5 Royal, because I couldn’t imagine needing to play that game again so soon, and I couldn’t imagine Persona 5 Royal being signfiicantly better than Persona 5 was. And yet it was. It was impossibly good. It was so unbelievably good that it made the original Persona 5 feel severely underwhelming in hindsight. Atlus did the absolute impossible and somehow managed to make Persona 5 so much better in virtually every conceivable way, from minute narrative embellishments, game-play polishes, to a whole new semester and narrative arc. I should add that I completely adored Kasumi too, and her character and her narrative arc contributed very significantly to how much I loved Persona 5 Royal. My sole biggest complaint about the original Persona 5 is that the ending felt a little underwhelming to me - it felt as if, by the time the game had reached that point, it had lost its steam. It didn’t help that the ending felt a little derivative and similar to that of Persona 4. Persona 5 Royal addressed this for me with its new semester - and I loved this new arc so much more than the original ending. I had a million concerns about all the things they could do wrong, and somehow, they addressed every single concern I had and delivered a narrative arc that was nothing short of perfection to me. I’m aware that there are mixed opinions about Persona 5 Royal’s new semester and ending, and that’s understandable.
Personally, however, I rank Persona 5 Royal’s ending leagues ahead of the original. Without going into any details or spoiling the game, suffice it to say this: it was much more sombre, much more bittersweet - with just a little bit of Persona 3′s darker tone injected into it - and so much more poignant for me. Whereas Persona 5 was focused on the joys of liberation and breaking free from the shackles of society, Persona 5 Royal pursued these themes in a way that was more grounded in reality. It's joyful and celebratory, but powerfully nuanced with a subtle touch of sadness which makes its message feel so much more genuine and so much more heartfelt. It acknowledges that there are things we may not be able to break away from, that sometimes, not everything is within our control - but even so, you do what you can and you choose to live your best life. I found the more melancholic, more measured, but nevertheless joyful tone of Persona 5 Royal to be a lot more personal, a lot more heartfelt, a lot more meaningful, a lot more relatable, and a lot more powerful, so much so that even thinking about it now, I feel a rush of emotions towards it and I feel my heart wrench with yearning. I did still have some criticisms of the game, but these were trivial in comparison to how intensely dear the game had become to me. And so, even though it’s technically an enhanced re-release, it was so much more than that to me - none of the brand new games I’ve played in years even begin to compare to how much I loved this “enhanced re-release”.
I love Persona 5 Royal so much that even among other games I love, Persona 5 Royal stands near the top, if not at the top. The 123 hours I spent with it are unquestionably the best hours I’ve spent in 2020. It is a profoundly moving game, exploring themes that are very close to my heart in a nuanced manner and filling my heart with a whole range of emotions. Through Persona 5 Royal, I effectively lived another life, one brimming with so much color and richness. It is one of the most beautiful gaming experiences I have ever had, and I’m not even talking about how aesthetically stylish and musically charming it is - and any Persona 5 fan will already know that it’s virtually unmatched in these regards. By the end of my journey through Persona 5 Royal, all the laughter and tears I shared with the Phantom Thieves had become imprinted in my heart, and I loved them so dearly that they had become like family. Persona 5 Royal is one of the rare games so intensely and incomparably special that it moves me beyond the realms of fiction. Even now, I hold it dear in my heart as a reminder that maybe, just maybe, the future really is worth believing in and life is worth fighting for. Its radiant colors of red and gold continue to shine brilliantly in my heart, and there is simply no question and no competition to its place:
Persona 5 Royal is my undisputable Game of the Year.
Runner-up: Ghost of Tsushima (PS4)
Tumblr media
Ghost of Tsushima is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one - I didn’t expect to love this game as much as I did, and I certainly didn’t expect to love it to the point of it being my GOTY runner-up. Sure, it had some of the usual open-world lack of polish and bugs, but the overall experience was absolutely excellent and I enjoyed this so damn much - this game is simply so good. For starters, the world of Tsushima was so beautifully realized that it completely took my breath away. Even without the bells and whistles of next-generation consoles, ray-tracing, and what-not, I was completely awed by how gorgeous Tsushima was, and I spent countless hours in photo mode just admiring how jaw-dropping the scenery was. While the game doesn’t make any gigantic innovations, the numerous little improvements over the staple open worlds of the past made a giant leap in improving the immersiveness and overall experience of the game. For example, literally using the wind to point you in the direction of your objective instead of waypoint markers is a small touch, but it worked wonders in making the game feel much more organic. The use of the touchpad to enact a variety of actions such as playing the flute, bowing to others, or unsheathing your sword was also a small touch that went a long way in making this game feel alive. I can unironically say that Ghost of Tsushima literally made me feel like I was living as a samurai in feudal Japan. The core game-play of the game was a blast as well, and the numerous combat and stealth options really immersed me into the role of a badass samurai and assassin, and it was absolutely exhilarating to be a force of nature slicing through my enemies. Of course, no such game would be complete without an excellent story, and Ghost of Tsushima’s story complements its numerous other strengths by telling a stellar samurai tale starring Jin Sakai, who has already become for me an iconic and incredibly lovable protagonist who is portrayed in a very human manner. The narrative is unpretentious and doesn’t try senselessly to aspire towards being different - instead, it focused on actually telling an engaging, relatable, and enjoyable story, and it absolutely succeeded. It dealt with many complex themes very thoughtfully and its narrative was full of both intense action as well as powerful emotional beats. Sucker Punch absolutely struck gold with this new IP, and it’s simply right up there with many of Playstation’s other excellent exclusives. Ghost of Tsushima is breathtaking, exhilarating, emotional, endearing, exciting, and most importantly, it was just simply an incredible amount of fun to play. And as Reggie once famously said - if it’s not fun, why bother?
And hence - I crown Ghost of Tsushima my runner-up game of the year for 2020.
Second Runner-up: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PS5)
Tumblr media
I played Miles Morales as a PS5 launch title - and honestly, what a game it was! Graphically, it’s an utter majesty to behold in 4K HDR with ray-tracing, and Miles Morales was an incredible amount of fun to play as. The core mechanics from 2018′s game - which was already absolutely stellar to begin with - return here, and Miles’ new electricity powers make him feel distinct and a lot of fun to play as. Narratively, the game told an extremely well-written and competent origin story that effectively sets up Miles Morales’ involvement in future games. I felt an immense amount of satisfaction and pride watching this lovely origin story play out and watching Miles Morales grow as a character and as Spider-Man over the course of this narrative. While I felt that the game doesn’t quite reach the levels of emotionality and epicness of the original, I did nevertheless really enjoy the smaller-scale and more focused story being told here, which comprised of many thrilling set pieces as well as more personal and emotional scenes that together made for a superb narrative package. I should add that the extremely likeable cast of characters - both main and supporting - and the utterly top-tier cinematography of the game definitely contributed to how great it was. I literally felt my jaw drop watching some of the final scenes of the game - these were so utterly polished with such an incredible amount of production values that they wouldn’t be out of place even beside some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s best scenes. Insomniac Games proved once again that they’re the masters of developing superhero games, and Miles Morales is testament to that achievement, so it gets my second runner-up game of the year for 2020.
 Honorable Mentions:
While they didn’t quite make the cut for my personal GOTY, I should note two other games I played and tremendously enjoyed in 2020. Both of them happen to be JRPGs, which is not too surprising given my immense love of the genre. These two games are The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Both of these games were excellent experiences in their own right. The legendary Final Fantasy VII Remake is so full of heart and so full of love - it may be a flawed game in a great number of ways, but seeing this classic come to life so majestically and watching them nail so many aspects of the game (I *loved* the combat in FF VII Remake!) brought me so much joy even as someone who never played the original game as a kid. Trails of Cold Steel IV brought me the highly-anticipated conclusion to the Erebonian saga, and what a conclusion it was. As I noted in my review, I have mixed feelings about some aspects of this conclusion, but I nevertheless loved it with all my heart and it’s one of the many games I thoroughly enjoyed in 2020 - and in fact, I still think back to Cold Steel IV because of just how much I enjoyed it. I love these characters so much, having followed them for years, and seeing them all in Cold Steel IV is a truly emotional experience. I’m absolutely glad I played these games in 2020, and I cannot wait until their sequels finally arrive.

Top 13 Console Video Games of Generation 8 (2012 – 2019)
Intro/Overview:
Hey everyone, The Gray Talon here, setting his sights on yet another unsuspecting prey and TODAY we are going to be talking and discussing the top 13 console video games of the current console generation. And why 13 some of you may be asking? Because the Gray Talon strikes with all of his 13 claws! Yes, he is that meta.
So I know for my first list here it’s quite a broad choice, seeing as though we are about a little over 6 years strong into this cycle of console video games. I’m going to do my best here to be as unbiased as I can be, broadening my gaming palette and bringing to you the top 13 titles that I have played in it’s entirety over the past 6 years and felt stood out to me in terms of presentation, performance and overall replay value. And in terms of replay value, I don’t necessarily mean a physical replay value, but rather I ask “Does this game stick around either physically or mentally that resonated with me in the long run?” Another thing to keep in mind is that I am a tremendous fan of narratives and games heavily focused on story, which will play a factor in my list as well as I try to remain unbiased as possible, I do hold a soft spot for games with a focus on a good tale and character development alike.  This list will also try to stray away from remasters, such as The Last of Us for PS4 for example that is a port of a previous generation title without changing anything other than graphics and some technical performance such as framerate. I will be refraining from listing any Indie games as well  as I feel those games have become so prominent over the past few years, that they deserve the respect of having their own special list. And lastly, expect a lot of honorable mentions at the end of the video, because selecting a mere 13 games from a list of some amazing games from over 6 years was increasingly difficult. And yes, as you may have guessed, expect some SPOILERS AHEAD!
So without further delay, let’s get started!
     Number 13:
Nier: Automata – PS4 – (March 17th 2017 initial release)
What do you get when you combine a pseudo post-apocalyptic android world with, well, this guy (show Yoko Taro pic)? A beautiful recipe of some of the most brilliant forms of mind-fuckery since the likings of Hideo Kojima first tried to scramble our brains when Pyscho Mantis read off our game save files in Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation. In this hack and slash with light RPG elements, dive headfirst into a deep and dark narrative, focused on the concept of humanoid replicant androids and sentient robots developing emotions, feelings and even their own personal ideologies, while trying to combat armies of machine robots from distant worlds. It’s one part Blade Runner, one part Matrix, and all parts awesome. Plus it’s made by Platinum Games, the developer’s of Bayonetta and the original Devil May Cry. So if that’s not enough incentive to immediately run out and play this game, I’m not sure what will convince you.
Number 12:
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor – PS4/XB1 – September 30th 2014
Well, this game surely came out of left field, but it sure was a sight for sore eyes. Developed by Monolith Studios, who were responsible for the successful F.E.A.R. games and piggybacking off of the success of the Batman Arkham series, Middle Earth provides some of the most fluid combat and free flowing action since the Arkham titles, indeed, only much, much more brutal. We’re talking more decapitations than the entire Game of Thrones series has accomplished. The story is the other half of the reason why this made my list. It tells the tale of the creation of the ring of power that led to the evil lord Sauron’s rise as you fight within the realm of Mordor before the events that transpired in Lord of the Rings or even The Hobbit as you take on the role of Tallion, a brave and noble ranger who once met his demise and is now joined with a wraith on a quest for vengeance against those who were responsible for his family’s death. A simple quest for revenge will snowball into quite a journey as you build up your armies by capturing orcs and lead the fight back against the evil forces of Sauron. If you’re a fan of action games with a sprinkle of Assassin’s Creed like platforming, then this will be a match made in heaven, or in this case, the hellish land of Mordor.
   Number 11:
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – PS4/XB1 – September 1st 2015
In this final true entry in the Metal Gear Solid series from the renown mind of famed game writer and director, Hideo Kojima, you take on the role of Big Boss from the 80’s. After waking from a 9 year coma following the events of Ground Zeroes, you free roam the vast Afghanistan plains during the Soviet-Afghan war to track down those responsible for the destruction of your old mercenary group, Military Sans Frontieres. Along with returning compadre in arms and once rival, Ocelot, prepare yourself as you take on a slew of missions to uncover the truth about the plot leading to the creation of a new Metal Gear that could potentially destroy the world. The game is fun and addictive, giving you access to an array of dozens of missions and hundreds of side ops alike, ranging from action to stealth as you infiltrate bases, rescue civilians and soldiers, gather intel and take down enemy artillery. You get support characters too such as a dog and Quiet the sniper, who will come in more than useful to you along your journey. And if you stick to it until the very end, you will not be sorry as the saga of Snake comes to a head and a somewhat emotional conclusion too, knowing the history behind the series, legacy and even controversial drama leading up to the inevitable parting of ways with Konami and Hideo Kojima.
Number 10:
Resident Evil 2 (Remake) – PS4/XB1 – January 25th 2019
I know this game just came out a month ago, but I just had to sneak it onto my list here. It was just such a prestigious remake and I know I said I would not include remasters on my list, but this is not your average remaster. It is a complete rebuild of a 21 year old game from the ground up, completely reimagining the horrors and terrors, fusing together the elements of what made the original Resident Evil trilogy truly frightening with the beloved camera and controls of Resident Evil 4. Fear lurks around every turn in tandem with some intense action sequences. There are numerous campaigns to play through as well, 4 in total if you count Leon and Claire’s A and B sides. I am going to link my video review in the description as well for more information and greater detail. It truly is a match made in heaven, or at the very least, a match made in the depth of the darkest labs of the Umbrella Corporation.
    Number 9:
Horizon: Zero Dawn – PS4 – February 8th 2017
From the developers of Killzone, yes that’s right my young padawans, Killzone, the first person shooter Playstation exclusive series, comes a third person adventure set in a beautifully rendered, lush, post-apocalyptic world with a vivacious and ambitious tale revolving around sentient feral like machines, with resemblance to prehistoric creatures that lived millions of years ago.. You take on the role of Aloy, a fierce female warrior from the 31st century tribe called the Nora. After proving herself when she becomes of age, she obtains an augmented reality device called Focus and after being attacked for looking like a scientist from the old world, she then embarks on a journey that leads to her uncovering quite an incredible story behind the creation of the cybernetic creatures that roam the landscape. The gameplay focuses on a myriad of weapon crafting for your arsenal of spears, bows and quivers, ranging from high end explosives to mines and traps. Crafting plays a big role in the game too as you must gather resources in the environment to build up your ever growing arsenal. Also you can free flow using platforming techniques and zip line from all over the huge map. The game feels like a robust and futuristic Tomb Raider and should not be missed of anyone that is a fan of an empowering action/adventure game mixed in with an interesting narrative along the way.
Number 8:
Dark Souls III – PS4/XB1 – April 12th 2016
Return to Lothric one last time to kindle the bonfires as you set out on a harrowing journey to take on Kiln of the First Flame! You are the Ashen one and must return the Lords of Cinder to their rightful thrones while embarking in a wonderfully interconnected medieval world, littered with brazen creatures, shortcuts, secrets and treasures alike. Well, in case you haven’t guessed, I am a pretty huge fan of the Souls series and the third and final entry in the series is no slouch. With dozens of David and Goliath like boss fights and some challenging sub-boss battles, go it alone or bring 2 other lost souls to team up in co-op as you fight for survival. Experience a variety of builds per class. Become a heavy brute and pound foes into the ground with that sweet ultra greatsword or take on the role of a cleric to zap opponents from afar with spells and hexes. The combinations of character builds are nearly endless and the replay value is incredibly high as you level up to be able to withstand the might of the overbearing world of Lothric. The mechanics are the most fluid and the game’s speed almost resembles From Software’s Bloodborne at times. Plus, with Hidetaka Miyazaki-san returning to direct this time around, it truly feels like the definitive Dark Soul experience. Any fan of hardcore action/RPG’s will be right at home here.
Number 7:
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Switch/Wii U – March 3rd 2017
We return to the ever enchanting land of Hyrule as the heroic Link to embark on yet another tale to once again purge the evil that Ganon has loomed over the land. In this first truly open world Zelda game, you really can feel the utmost sense of wanderlust as you feel the need to explore every nook and cranny of the vast landscape, which seemingly has no limitations whatsoever. That is the biggest draw of this particular Zelda game. The liberating sensation to do almost anything you can imagine, whether it be collecting ingredients to sizzle over a frying pan to cook up that next concoction to withstand the extreme cold of the uncharted Hebra valleys or the intense heat of the Goron volcanic mountain ranges, or climbing up the side of a thousand foot wall to try and reach the top without running out of stamina. The world is truly your oyster here and you can even take on Ganon right out the gate, although I highly recommend you don’t unless you’re some kind of Hylian sorcerer. And lastly, the shrines in the game which provide upgrades either to your stamina or hearts by solving puzzles, are possibly the most addictive part of this game. You will have to literally pry yourself away from the game as you scour the land, high and low, seeking out those hidden little caves of wonders.
 Number 6:
Super Mario: Odyssey – Switch – October 27th 2017
When I first saw the gameplay trailer for the latest 3D Mario title, I knew instantaneously that it would be fun, but I did not realize it would be possibly the best 3D Mario game I would have ever experienced. My all time favorite 3D Mario game is, by quite the unpopular opinion, Super Mario Sunshine. I was glamoured by the freedom of roaming from world to world in tandem with being the sole member of a clean up crew tasked with ridding Isle Delfino with that grimy, inky substance. Plus the normal Mario platforming levels were fun to boot. But now, in Super Mario Odyssey, everything is dialed up to 11 in the Mushroom Kingdom realm. I mean, you can become a freakin’ T-Rex with an Italian mustache  for crying out loud by the simple toss of a hat! Or don the fierce and angryexplosive power of a mustached Bullet Bill. Or launch yourself as a Chomp-Chomp to breakdown barriers and obstacles in your path. Plus, the 2D sections are a serious retro nod to Mario games of the time of olde and transition seamlessly from 3D to 2D as you might expect. Lastly, the freaking addiction for shines, well moonshines, this time around becomes real as you pretty much sell your plumbing soul for a shot at getting all of them per world.
 Number 5:
Bloodborne – PS4 – March 21st 2015
From Software really knocked this one hit wonder out of the park. From the makers of the Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls games, comes a dark, gothic title with a dee and, mythic lore.  As a hunter of beasts, try to purge the plague from the land as you fight back against creatures of folklore such as Lycans, Trolls and Cthulhu type monsters.  A game that forces you to face your fears and strike back in the face of towering difficulty and strife in a fast paced, hardcore action/RPG that will cause your blood to boil at times with intense combat sequences, leaving your heart pounding and yearning for more and if you strike back quickly enough you may just regain health after being hit with the regain feature as well. This was my first From Software game that I not only played through once, but twice on it’s new game plus mode as I was consumed within the Hunter’s Dream in the far away land of Yharnam, so it will forever have a special place in my heart.
 Number 4:
The Witcher III: The Wild Hunt – PS4/XB1 – May 19th 2015:
Well, if it wasn’t for the finale of good ol’ Geralt of Rivia here coming out in 2015, Bloodborne would have been my GOTY (Game of the Year), but, alas, once The Wild Hunt dropped into The Gray Talon’s claws, they were clenched for what felt like an eternity. If anyone asked me what my all time favorite action/RPG is of this generation that is the complete package, the gaming Oscar would go to The Witcher III each and every time. The level of detail present in this game cannot simply be put into words. While the graphics themselves may not be up to par with other games of this generation, the attention to detail in the beautifully crafted Continent Geralt is on is astounding to say the least. For example, you;’ll just be walking into town minding your own business when you’ll happen to notice out of the corner of your eye a water wheel connected to an turnstile system with flowing water that if you follow it closely you’ll begin to see how the irrigation system of that specific town works. The game is just that damn intricate. Not to mention the plethora of quests you can do ranging from aiding warring empires, which makes you feel like you’re playing the unofficial Game of Thrones game, to slaying beasts of burden whilst concocting tonics and potions like the true Witcher you are. Plus the downloadable content is probably better than the main story too, which is possibly the first time that’s ever happened and must be experienced that gives Geralt of Rivia the true ending he so rightfully deserves.
 Number 3:
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End – PS4 – May 10th 2016
Now that we have gotten into the final big three here, I want to remind everyone that the next three games have been personally chosen because of their heavy and robust focus on delivering a strong narrative, which is my one true Achilles’ heel. The final chapter in the Nathan Drake saga goes out with such a beautiful bang, I damn near had to play through it twice just to soak up all of its memorable moments. Everyone from the previous three games returns and in a glorious fashion to boot. From fast paced motorcycle chases in the Middle East to traversing the Sahara by jeep to hike and climb up mountain trails, this final chapter does not pull its punches for anything. There’s even one part of the game where you feel like you’re freaking James Bond, pulling off a heist in an exotic locale that ends in an Indiana Jones infused madness of swinging from whips and ropes through a series of windows and objects to make your daring escape. The Uncharted series to me always felt like a modern day Indiana Jones anyway, which does not disappoint when it is doing what it does best. Exploring mystical lands in hopes of finding famous treasures left behind by legends of the past that usually end with high octane explosions, chases and perilous escapes from life threatening scenarios. Also the story has charm and heart, leaving you more than satisfied more and more with each entry in the series leading to the conclusion in which you cannot help have a smile on your face. The game even ends in a way that the esteemed developer Naughty Dog can even pick up at any time they want in the future. It’s brilliant writing like this that should be commended, recognized and put high up on a pedestal to be praised, such as now in this list.
         Number 2:
Red Dead Redemption II – PS4/XB1 – October 26th 2018
If I was making a top list of games for last generation, Red Dead Redemption 1 would have been my top game hands down. In no way, shape or form would I have ever imagined that  it’s numbered sequel would also make another top tiered game for me in this present day and age. The critically acclaimed developer, Rockstar Games, once again tantalizes and does not disappoint with their newest title. Set approximately 15 years before the events of Red Dead Redemption, the sequel, or prequel rather, sets you into the high top post 19th century boots of Arthur Morgan, right hand man to Dutch Van Der Linde as they all try to learn to adapt to the new 20th century American lifestyle and leave the criminal life behind…or do they? The snowball effect is immensely present as you struggle to survive the onslaught from one bad move to another that Dutch makes for his gang. Without spoiling too much, I will just say to ready those Kleenex, because for those of you who played the first game know, expect one teary eyed ending once again, in both the good, the bad and the ugly. Another reason why this game holds my second place slot securely is because of yet again it’s exasperating attention to detail. If Witcher III was so refined in showcasing the intricate workings of a wooden water wheel, then get ready to completely crap your pantsuit as Red Dead Redemption II dials the attention to detail up to 11, possibly even 12 as they turn it into an obsession to detail with such things as going as far as making a horse’s private parts grow or shrink depending on what climate you are presently in on the map. You can also become dirty and need a bath after traveling for many in game hours along with growing hair and facial hair in real time that can grow as long as a rock star and look like Odin from Asgard if enough time passes. Plus, there are some random encounters that are just as emotional as some of the story segments and can pop up at any given and unprompted time. In terms of the core gameplay, you’re a gunslinger in third person (but there is also a first person option) and use a slow motion deadeye mechanic to carefully pick apart your foes. Take to riding horseback and even carriages to soak up what remains of the old west. Overall this is a game not to be missed by any means necessary and some parts of it’s illustrious and gritty tale will stick with me in my mind until the last day I draw breath.
     Number 1:
God of War – PS4 – April 20th 2018
From Sony Santa Monica Studios and the ingenious mind of the game’s writer and director Corey Balrog, comes the likes of something we have never bore witness to. A video game franchise that was 13 years old had been completely and utterly transformed and reconstructed from the ground up to feel so fresh and new yet retaining enough familiarity with beloved antihero Kratos and the rich lore found in his previous titles. What shocks and awes me first about this game is while the setting and lore completely shifted to that of Viking mythology, it somehow manages to keep the focus on the weight burden of Kratos and his actions that he has carried over after leaving the ravaged lands of Ancient Greece behind. Kratos not only carries with him a now repressed curse of his choices, but is left with a son as well. (THE BOY!!!) Shortly after losing his wife and mother of his child, Kratos sets off on a simple journey with his son to scatter his mother’s ashes atop a summit on a snowy mountain. However, little did they know the perilous adventure that awaited them. The new God of War delivers such an emotional performance from Kratos with several call backs to previous games in ways that slowly build up and shape his character arc even more than imaginable. He goes from suppressing the all too well known Spartan rage to slowly unleashing it by the journey’s end in ways quite unfathomable. The core gameplay has been completely redesigned as well. The new camera provides a more focused over the shoulder angle and each swing of that ever so faithful Leviathan Axe has an extreme presence as you bear dominance over your foes. Plus, the callback feature of the axe where you press the action button and axe comes flying back into your hands like you’re flipping Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader never gets tiring. There’s a light focus on upgrading your armor and gear this time around too, where the focus is not just weapon or magic upgrading but finding the rarest pieces of armor that scale to your level so you can go toe to toe with some of Norse mythologies most relentless of foul beasts. This title also won many GOTY for 2018 awards and rightfully so.  It has achieved so much and deserves such acknowledgement for breathing a new form of life into this once aging franchise. This is my number 1 game of this generation thus far and while this console generation is not yet laid to rest, I will find it increasingly difficult for the Ghost of Sparta to be toppled anytime soon.
Conclusion:
So there you have it folks. This was The Gray Talon’s top 13 games of this console generation. Thank you tremendously for watching as always. Please share and like this video and please subscribe so you don’t miss out on the latest content from The Gray Talon’s lair. And finally, please find the honorable mentions listed below:

PUBG Mobile tips and tricks: How to survive and win a battle royale PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds—or PUBG as it’s known by fans—is finally available on mobile. The PC, Xbox One, and now Android and iOS smash hit may have lost some ground to Epic Games’ Fortnite in the ‘great battle royale war’, but Bluehole’s sandbox kill-fest reigns supreme on Android sitting on top of the Play Store with over ten million downloads. For those new to the game, the first thing you should know is that PUBG is all about surviving until the bitter end in a 100-person free-for-all or as a team by any means necessary. Yet whether you’re the kind of player that likes to grab the best weapons you can find and go all guns blazing, or you opt for a more stealthy approach, there are some gameplay basics that apply to everyone that enters the battlefield. In this guide, you’ll find some essential tips and tricks that will put you ahead of the pack in PUBG mobile and help you bag those sweet, sweet chicken dinners. Don’t land in the water, obviously. Choose where to land very carefully A game of PUBG can last as long as half an hour or, if things go horribly wrong, it can all be over in a few seconds. One surefire way of exiting early is by misjudging your initial landing spot. As a general rule of thumb, you want to aim for the best loot spots in the game’s Erangel map (the desert map, Miramar, will launch in a future update) while also avoiding as many other players as possible. There are some particular areas that regularly spawn the best weapons and armor such as the military base, power plant, or the various major towns, but bare in mind that other seasoned players will be heading there too. Editor's Pick 15 best Android games of 2018! Gaming on mobile has been improving at a far greater rate than any technology that came before it. Android games seems to hit new heights every year. With the release of Android Nougat and Vulkan … Once you’ve jumped out of the cargo plane, keep an eye out for swarms of other players heading to a single location and avoid those areas like the plague. Likewise, don’t just aimlessly drift once you’re in freefall—pinpoint a safe enough area, preferably with buildings so you can grab some loot, and push forward to speed your way there. Buildings will show up as white blocks on the mini map, so make sure you’re heading in the right direction. If you can’t see one you can always open your parachute early and coast over to a decent landing zone. Just be aware that every second you spend in the sky is a second your opponents will be using to scoop up loot. Loot first, shoot later Let me re-emphasize this one last time—if you die in PUBG you are dead. In solo play, there are no second chances, and in squads you’ll be putting your team’s chances of victory at risk if you keep getting downed early. Once you hit the floor, your first priority is gearing up so you don’t get clipped in any initial skirmishes. You’ll find crucial loot scattered around in buildings and supply crate drops. The latter contain the most sought-after weapons like the insanely powerful AWM sniper rifle but remember you won’t be the only one hoping to grab the spoils. Make sure to share the spoils in a supply drop if you’re in a squad. The most important loot in the early stages is a half-decent weapons, ammo, and some reasonable armor, as well as a backpack upgrade (up to level 3) so you have room for better gear as you start exploring. Any gun is better than your fists or even the legendary PUBG frying pan, so grab any nearby firearms before engaging a foe. Armor is also crucial so you can take more hits in a firefight. Like the backpack, head and body armor is graded from level 1 to 3, but level 3 armor is fairly rare. Aim for level 2 armor before picking a scrap, or level 1 at a bare minimum. Health items are also a priority. First aid kits are preferable, but bandages, painkillers, and the like will all help in a pinch. Thrown items like grenades will become more important later on as an offensive or distraction tool once the player count has diminished, but don’t be afraid to throw an explosive surprise if you come across an unsuspecting group early on. See that tiny outline of a person? No? Then don’t pull the trigger. Only shoot when you’re in range This is the ultimate rookie error and it’ll get you killed more than anything else in PUBG Mobile. Deciding when to hide and when to attack is a tricky balancing act, but you should never ever open fire unless you know your weapon has a chance of hitting the target. While knowing when you’re in range will take some practice for complete newcomers, if you have any experience with PvP shooters you’ll already have a fair understanding of the basics. Shotguns (especially the awesome S12K) and SMGs are useful for up-close burst damage, assault rifles and pistols are good for mid-range fights, and sniper rifles are perfect for long distance pot shots. Shotguns and SMGs are useful for up-close burst damage, assault rifles and pistols are good for mid-range fights, and sniper rifles are perfect for long distance pot shots. If you’re shooting at a distant enemy with, say, the otherwise fairly strong Tommy Gun, all you’re doing is giving away your position which is a fatal mistake. Attachments can extend the range of some weapons—assault rifles with scopes can sometimes be better than sniper rifles—but some guns are only useful in specific circumstances. Shotguns, for example, are a great tool for clearing out a building but are practically useless out in the open fields. Where possible, try to keep complementary weapons on hand and don’t carry two weapons that fulfill the same purpose. Keep an eye on the map It’ll take a fair few games to learn the layout of certain areas of the PUBG map, let alone the whole thing. While you’re getting used to the landscape, make sure you’re paying attention to the mini map and keeping an eye on the diminishing play area. In PUBG, the only safe area lies within “The Circle”. This circle will begin to shrink at select times during the match and if you find yourself outside of it for too long, you’ll eventually die. The damage you take in this electrified blue field will increase as the circle shrinks. Early on you’ll be fine for a few minutes, while in the very final stage you won’t last more than ten seconds. Time to move. Each new circle will show on your map as a white outline, so if you watch your map you’ll always know where to go next. There’s no need to rush in the early phases, but towards the end you’ll need to get moving to avoid death while also trying to steer clear of other players who will be doing the same thing. You should always be trying to remain in cover where possible, but if you do need to move, move quickly and with purpose. The mini map also has one final trick up its sleeve that you absolutely need to look out for—a fire indicator. If you hear gunfire in your vicinity, have a quick glance at the map and it’ll show exactly where it’s coming from. You can lean out of vehicles from the passenger seat for some spicy drive-bys. Wheels are better than legs Need to get somewhere fast? Then you need a vehicle, my friend. Vehicles are littered all around Erangel but you’ll find them most commonly near the larger cities and on the main roads. Unfortunately, while there are plenty of vehicles to go around, there’s also up to 99 other players potentially looking to get behind the wheel too, so be sure it’s safe before approaching. The motorcycle and buggy are both great for zipping to the next play area but will leave you relatively exposed. Larger vehicles like the jeep will be slower but are great for carrying around four players with a nice amount of protection. PUBG Mobile’s touchscreen controls can be a bit fiddly at the best of times, so you can imagine how difficult it is to deliver a lethal blow to an opponent when they’re driving straight at you. The downside, however, is the amount of attention you’ll draw thanks to those loud engines. You can’t see me. Hide and peek PUBG games almost always end with a tiny group of fighters lying around on the floor hoping someone else pops their head up first. That person usually gets domed immediately, by the way, so make sure it isn’t you. Going fully prone in PUBG is an important maneuver, so much so that it has its own dedicated button. It’s also a double-edged sword, however, as while you’ll get a nice recoil and accuracy boost and generally be a little more hidden, mobility is almost non-existent. If someone approaches you from behind while you’re on your chest, you’re almost definitely going to end up dead—especially if you’re looking through a scope at the same time. Keep an eye on your mini map and the surroundings before hitting the floor, and don’t be afraid to flank your opponents when they’re lying down. When out in the open, taking advantage of rocks and the sides of buildings for cover can be a much safer alternative. What PUBG doesn’t tell you is that you can actually peek around the side of cover without exposing your squishy limbs, but to do that you’ll have to take a quick trip to the Settings > Basic menu. Enable peek for an advantage over less studious players. Simply toggle Peek & Fire to “Enable” and you’ll be able to peer around corners. Just be aware that you’re far from invulnerable when doing this, as your head will lean with you, but you’ll be a much smaller target. One final point on controls: remap the buttons if you need to. There are three presets for both general and vehicle controls to choose from, but if you can tweak these even further by hitting the Customize option. You can move around every single aspect of the HUD to your liking, increase button sizes, and alter icon transparency, and you can also reset everything to default if you mess up. Be a good wingman and talk your way to victory. Communicate with your squadmates Erangel can be a very lonely place when you’re squatting in a field somewhere all alone, just waiting for a chance to strike. That all changes in duo or group play where strategic play and constant communication are key to victory. Attacking in numbers is far safer than splitting up. Almost every aspect of PUBG changes in co-op, be it choosing a place to land, deciding who takes what loot, picking a target, or even calling who gets to ride shotgun in a vehicle. Attacking in numbers is far safer than splitting up, but equally, you’ll need to maintain a little distance from your allies from time to time to flank opponents and hold vantage points. Thankfully, PUBG Mobile supports native voice chat using your device’s speakers and microphone, although you will have to enable the latter in Settings > Audio. Alternatively, if you have a few buddies, you can always use voice and chat apps like Discord. Do you have any tips and tricks to share with your fellow PUBG comrades? Fire away in the comments. , via Android Authority http://bit.ly/2qbEXxK

StoryHack is back with 9 stories of thrilling fights, strange monsters, and wild adventures. Don’t miss a word of the excitement.
Terrors of Pangaea (Lost on the Last Continent #1) – John C. Wright
Colonel Preston Lost is a man of many talents. One of the youngest to achieve the rank of colonel, Lost found himself unable to return to civilian life after the war. He was a man born at the wrong time. Chivalry was dead, and there were no more crusades or mighty deeds to be done.
Sport fishing and big game hunting became first a pastime, then an obsession, but the times were against him, and the nations outlawed such sport, as they did anything dangerous, rare, or worthy of manhood. Basically, anything he saw as “fun” or “challenging.” His aerospace plane had, at first, been merely another pastime.
And then he saw the unidentified flying object.
Lost didn’t think of himself as reckless. He believed in preparation, proper equipment, and patience in stalking the prey. But, in reality, he was not a cautious man. If he was, he wouldn’t have followed the spaceship into the black storm clouds above the Bermuda Triangle.
Now he’s at the end of time, having crash-landed on Pangaea Ultima with few supplies and no way of returning home. But Lost is a man of many talents, and anything should be possible for him. Or, is it possible that this time, Lost has met his match?
The Throne of Darkness (The Counterfeit Sorcerer #4) – Rob Kroese
A hooded man, his face marred by a mysterious black brand, walks the Plain of Savlos. Some say he has the power to summon demons. Others say he is the only one who can vanquish them. His name is Konrad, and he has a secret…
Once an ordinary soldier, his life was forever changed by a fateful meeting with a dying sorcerer. Now he is all that stands between civilization and the creeping evil of the shadow world.
Imprisoned by the powerful Cult of Turelem, Konrad the Sorcerer is given a chance at redemption when an apparition of a long-dead prophetess haunts the land. Konrad’s investigation of the ghost leads him to the foreboding mountain fortress of Magas Komaron, where a mysterious ally instructs him in the secrets of sorcery. But can Konrad stop the mad sorcerer Bolond before it is too late?
Witch’s Oath (The Children of D’Hara #4) – Terry Goodkind
Richard knew that there would be no help coming. It was all up to him to stop the threat or Kahlan would die.
They all would die.
Nine companions – Richard, Kahlan, the witch woman Shale and six Mord-Sith, Rikka, Vale, Cassia, Nyda, Berdine and Vika – are hunting a warlock in the waterlogged depths of the People’s Palace. It will take all their skills to close on their quarry, but do any of them understand the true power of a Witch’s Oath?
‘While my masterwork, Sword of Truth, concluded with WARHEART – 20 languages and 26 million books sold – I was burning to tell readers more about Richard and Kahlan. For that reason, this new series starts immediately after the ‘Sword of Truth’ books ended. Without skipping a beat, readers will plunge back into Richard and Kahlan’s lives, with new episodes releasing every three months.
So it is that I want to welcome you all back into the Sword of Truth world with many of the characters besides Richard and Kahlan, such as the Mord-Sith, that we have come to love. Learn what the star shift has done to their world and what monsters now lurk in shadows. I promise an arresting, beautiful, and sometimes tragic adventure that will keep you glued to this irresistible story.’– Terry Goodkind.
Wizard’s Education (Apprentice to Master Series #2) – James Eggebeen
New tests await. It’s time to take control.
When Lorit’s friend and mentor goes missing, he has no choice but to seize the leadership of the Wizards’ Council to win their support. He must undertake the life and death challenges on his own, to become a Master Wizard even though the trials have been subverted by the Temple.
The evil Wizard Priests have bound his partner, the Sorceress Chihon, in their plan to turn her into their next High Priestess. Can Lorit avoid the traps the Temple has set for him and free his friends, or will he fall to their treachery and face them as enemies?
