Kyoko Kirigiri - Ultimate Affluent Progeny

So Kyoko's design was both kinda simple, kinda not, wanted to give her a very fine and regal kinda attitude to her but not arrogant as that's very much Byakuya's thing. Her story is that she loves her dad more than the family business and her grandpa so she abandons detective work and just uses her brain to help her dad out.

Makoto Naegi - Ultimate Novelist

Makoto is a wonderful guy, just great all around. He loves writing children's books and happy stories. This is his main coping mechanism so he doesn't have to process any negative emotions he gets, the rest he can't process… well they go into a murderous psychopath alter.

Aoi Asahina - Ultimate Lucky Student

Shoujo protagonist Aoi. Cute, headstrong, affective, competitive, these are all the traits that make her fight for her friends and clash with Kyoko (and more often than not Byakuya) in the killing game, even when all hope seems lost… she pushes through, unafraid to let tears spill from her eyes for all those lost, but pushing all the same.

Byakuya Togami - Ultimate Detective

This one, I wanna go into more lore territory, cause I kinda memed around his last desc I gave him so here goes:

"A disgraced heir of the Togami household, Byakuya lost the competition that would've secured his riches. Disdainful and bitter, he sought out to get to the bottom of why he lost, uncovering a rabbit hole in the process. By the end, he proved his sibling a cheater, but it didn't matter because by the end as he found the sweet satisfaction of uncovering secrets and crushing liars and cheaters under the weight of their hubris far more satisfying than any inheritance."

Sayaka Maizono - Ultimate Spirit Medium

So Sayaka isn't a clairvoyant at all like Yasuhiro, in fact her entire skillset is completely different, first of all she is like an actual psychic, and I based her design off of the japanese Itako, quite loosely. Very interesting group, look it up, also she'll never use these powers in the killing game because I dunno how to even approach these rituals or what they look like or how to write them while remaining respectful, so she won't do it in a killing game for the express reason of her not having the right tools available and not wanting to disrespect her traditions.

Leon Kuwata - Ultimate Swimmer

I really wanna draw him again, all these characters again tbh, and I wanna show off the patterns on his wetsuit. It's a whole coral reef under there, that anemone and clownfish bit is only one part of a whole reef stretching his midline.

Sakura Ogami - Ultimate Programmer

Sakura has installed chips into her body to help optimize her body processes and also cause why not. As for the muscles, she's an Assembly programmer, the programs she's made can run on calculators she loves it.

Chihiro Fujisaki - Ultimate Martial Artist

Chihiro's design here with the two belts is an explicit nod to his preferred martial art - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so unlike Sakura in canon who'd be easy to imagine cracking someone's skull in half with a chop, Chihiro's approach is more crawling onto someone and bringing them down to the floor with grappling like an angry halfling monk. As for the belts themselves, on his head is his final junior belt, while around his waist is his current belt, he's not a black belt yet because he's still too young for it.

Celestia Ludenberg - Ultimate Baseball Star

Celestia actually isn't a legend in this AU, Taeko is. Celestia hates that and wants to start a baseball career going international, whatever the hell that means is up to her own definition, but she wants to be remembered forever as Celestia, not Taeko. Also extra sentence, but this is the SINGLE hardest design I've ever had to deal with here, I think in the future I'll be drawing all her little accessories and I have an alt costume for her I have in mind.

Hifumi Yamada - Ultimate Pop Star

So I changed Hifumi's story as I originally outlined in the OG post with him. He was friends with Aoi all his life, pretty much his only friend at all, and ever since he was little he had an obsession with writing songs, because he was obsessed with stuff like anime openings and was content to just keep the songs to himself. It wasn't till Aoi convinced him to share some of his songs that he started his journey to success, but bc he's not traditionally attractive, his first hits were literally just… his voice being played over other more attractive singers and it wasn't until very very recently that he even performed a song of his for the first time.

Toko Fukawa - Ultimate Fanfic Writer

So while Hifumi was clearly a Doujinshi but due to weird translation, ended up as fanfic creator, Touko is straight up a FF then Wattpad then AO3 girl, who would get obsessed with this really shitty, tripe manga that she didn't even like reading. It did however have super hot dudes in it, so she wrote good stories of those characters when she got frustrated with the actual authorial content - which was always.

Yasuhiro Hagakure - Ultimate Gambler

Quite LITERALLY the never stop gambling meme personified into a guy. He can lose 3 mil on slot machines but always comes out fine because it means if he keeps gambling he'll eventually run into his 1/3 and win giga millions, what he needs to pay off his debts. It isn't just with luck though either because his personality and lack of intelligence or understanding of most the rules of the games he plays means he'll never react the way he should when getting a good hand in poker or a bad draw in blackjack, so he wins those games almost always through just… stupidity.

Mukuro Ikusaba - Ultimate Biker

She's number 16 in her gang, and is easily the most loyal enforcer and taskman of the gang. She does anything she's told, to a grim and disciplined degree not typical for hooligan bike gangers, she doesn't really desire a seat as top dog of the gang though, after all she's got school to worry about, and her sister.

Mondo Owada - Ultimate Warlord

So his relationship and Kiyotaka's is gonna be interesting, because I don't want him to be exactly like Mukuro at all, who was just sort of an all-obsessed Yandere. It's more like he's always chafing under Taka, who is less than friendly with him in this AU, really the main way he even lets Taka boss him around is because he pays incredibly well and helps keep his gang members from devolving back into the unstructured, chaotic criminal life, the same that took his brother years ago.

Oh and yeah, he still looks like Guile, as he should.

Sparkling Justice - Ultimate Killer Killer

Yeah it's a reference to Killer Killer, sue me I love the manga. He has Hajirahara's ahoge, and I thought it'd be cute to also give him a mask just like the other Makoto from a Kodaka game series (Raincode.) Also, while Genocide jack stuffs all her scissors in her skirt, Makoto keeps a truth gun with "truth bullets" as his main weapon, the gun he stores inside the big book in the chibi of just Makoto, and the bullets kept on his person as the red buttons all over his body, which he pulls out when he needs to reload.

"Kiyotaka Ishimaru" - Ultimate Fashionista

Unlike Mukuro and Junko, Mondo absolutely cannot hide the fact that he acts nothing like Kiyotaka, though this is surprisingly fine to everyone else, because unlike Junko who plastered herself onto literally everything, Mondo always obfuscated himself from the public spotlight, at most showing only his suits while he hid his face behind something conveniently placed. Which played primarily to his vision of an ultimate fashionista, who was above everyone and catered to the rich and powerful.

Junko Enoshima - Ultimate Moral Compass

This was a fun one, I decided to let her have her red hair because I believe it to be the "natural" look of her hair, while attaching little clips of dyed hair to her buns as a replacement to keep her shape sorta and keep the strawberry blonde somwehere on her. Understand that while she is the "moral compass" she is still pretty deranged, and the only reason she focuses so much on keeping everyone on their best behavior is because it's endlessly entertaining to her to make her fellow moral committee members upset when she blatantly makes a mockery of the rules while still keeping kids on their best behavior to make a point.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru - Ultimate Fashionista and Tyrant, the Iron Hand of Despair

Taka's design I wanted to sort of focus on this sort of, holier-than-thou idea, where I wanted to make him look a lot fancier and upper-class than Junko does in his standard highschool fit compared to him. I wanted him to have an upper-crust sort of look

SUMMARY: you're the king of Hell’s favorite influencer and he wants to make it very clear how much he appreciates you and loves your content, thus starting a transactional relationship between the two of you that slowly turns into something more.

WARNING: light stalker stuff going on for a little bit lol ┐(￣ヮ￣)┌ also some sugar baby catching feelings for sugar daddy nonsense

(also- i'm using the terms "sugar daddy" and "sugar baby" pretty loosely, and there are no sexual transactions in this story)

NOTE: I keep going back and forth between saying “livestream” and “video,” so just assume that in the story y/n mainly does livestreams and uploads them as videos later.

•You started out as a humble influencer in Hell.

•What you didn't know is that you happened to be the favorite influencer of THE king of Hell Lucifer himself.

•I personally headcanon that when this man finds something he likes, he REALLY obsesses over it.

•I can imagine him laying in bed with a cozy blanket and a snack, kicking his knees while watching your latest upload.

•Not gonna lie Luci got kinda stalker-ish in order to find you and know you in person.

•He is the king after all, so therefore he has ways to find and keep track of his people.

•It started as him sending you money anonymously as a way to give his appreciation to his favorite content creator.

•You'd sometimes get small donations here and there from different people, but you definitely noticed the big donations you'd consistently get. Even though they were all anonymous, you assumed they were all from the same person because it was usually always an absurd amount of money to donate to an influencer.

•While livestreaming one day you mentioned that you wanted to find out who this anonymous donor was and somehow do something special to thank them.

•Lucifer NEVER misses one of your livestreams and felt extra fanboyish thinking about his fav influencer doing something special specifically for him.

•He knew he couldn't just message you and say “I'm your anonymous donor” because he didn't have a public account. If he were to message with his anonymous account saying that he's the king of Hell you'd obviously think he was lying.

•HERE is where his stalker era starts. 💀

•Luci comes up with this convoluted plan that actually somehow ends up working exactly the way he wanted.

•He happens to “find” you at a place he knew is your favorite café just outside of Cannibal Town.

•He pretends to just be casually walking by (well, as “casual” as the king of Hell can be)

”Oh hey! I've seen a few of your videos, I like your content!”

•You're absolutely baffled that the man in front of you praising your content is Lucifer himself.

•Lucifer invites himself to sit down with you, and how could you possibly refuse.

(He knows using his status to get what he wants is a lil problematic, but he easily pushes any guilt aside cuz he gets to be in your presence. He honestly wonders why he hadn't done this sooner.)

•He uses this opportunity to ask you a bunch of questions he's always wanted to ask, as if this were his personal Q&A with you. You happily answer his questions and even ask your own, eager to get to know Lucifer.

•Eventually he asks the main question that'll set his plan into place.

“Have you ever done any collabs?”

Of course he already knows the answer is no.

•”I've never asked anyone to collaborate with me, I'm a little insecure and automatically think they'll say no.”

•”I'm shocked! I'd personally love to be in one of your videos!” He boasts.

•Even though you've been talking for a while now, your brain still hasn't been fully able to compute that you're not only talking to Lucifer Morningstar, he says he enjoys your content, AND he just said he'd like to be in one of your videos.

•”Wha- I'm sure you've got so much more important things to do!”

•”I've got spare time!”

•When he realized he was probably starting to sound desperate, he backed it up a bit;

“I'm not trying to invite myself into one of your videos, but what I am saying is that IF I were one of those people you were to ask then I'd definitely accept your offer!” He twiddled his fingers nervously under the table, his smile never faltering.

•”oH I mean I do want to ask you- I am asking you!” You become just as nervous as Lucifer, fumbling over your words a bit.

•Before you can say anything else he raises from his seat and extends his hand out in agreement. “Sounds good to me!” You quickly stand to take his hand and shake it.

•The two of you calm down a bit and start discussing times and dates, even though Lucifer knows he's just going to accept whatever day you suggest and cancel any plans that he might already have for that day.

•Lucifer's little plot went perfectly.

•The day came when Luci got to feature in a video with his fav influencer.

•The video blew up super quickly, you gained a whole new wave of fame.

•Not only was he in the video with you, but he also got to spend the whole day with you.

•Somewhere along the way he kind of forgot that he was with his fav influencer and started to feel more like he was just hanging with a friend…which, honestly, he hasn't really had a friend in a long time.

•Also- you had noticed that during the stream with Lucifer you didn't get any donations from your special anonymous donor who never missed any of your previous streams.

•THIS MOMENT is where Lucifer knows he could potentially ruin everything with you, but he wants to be honest.

•He tells you that he's the anonymous donor, and that he can prove it with receipts. He admits that he didn't just casually watch your content like he said previously, and that he's actually a super huge fan. He doesn't go into detail about the stalker-ish extent he went to find you though.

•You take a second to process everything.

•I think if it were any other man you'd probably be a bit weirded out. It's definitely mainly because he's the king of Hell, but also he's just so charming that it's kinda hard for you not to be flattered.

•Now the king of Hell is in your phone contacts and you've got a viral video of the two of you together that shows literally everyone that you know him, it all feels so surreal.

•You still get donations from him on your streams, they still say they're anonymous but you know it's him.

•Lucifer calls you ALL THE TIME, usually to talk about absolutely nothing and everything at the same time.

•Suddenly he started showing up at your door with random gifts. Usually things that you mention very briefly on social media.

•Like one day you posted a pic on your story of a cute pair of shoes that you'd like to have, and the next day he's on your doorstep with a shoebox in hand.

•This escalated to him taking you out to dinner quite frequently, and he'd always go out of his way to reserve a special private area or even book out the whole restaurant.

•Then he started inviting you to visit him. Movie nights at his place, or he wants to show you something new he made.

•Eventually it turned into you staying the night at his place sometimes. You'd fall asleep during movie night and he didn't wanna wake you, or your home is just so far away and he didn't wanna let you go home in the dark.

•THEN it became you staying at his place for multiple days in a row, and sometimes it felt like you practically lived with him.

•You’d always ask Lucifer what you could do to repay him for all of the stuff he does for you, and he just replies that your company is enough to satisfy him and when you aren't around he still gets to watch your new videos.

•After getting to know the king of Hell over the span of almost a full year, you've come to realize that he was a pretty lonely man before you met him.

•He almost never talks to his own wife, whom you aren't even sure is his wife anymore. He rarely talks to his daughter, and is terrified of not being a good enough dad to her. Most of his time is spent home alone if he isn't tending to somekind of personal royal business.

•You knew Lucifer meant it when he told you that your company is enough to repay him.

•Somewhere down the line, you've started catching yourself contemplating your feelings for him.

•Don't get me wrong, he's always made you swoon and get flustered. It's really hard not to when a handsome man is literally handing you everything you want on a golden platter.

•There are much more raw moments you have with him, when you're just sitting on the couch together and you start to think about your possible future together.

•You usually end up getting slapped with reality when you remember who it is you're looking at. The king of Hell.

•Being in a relationship with a man of such status could never be in the cards for you. You're aware that you're basically just his sugar baby and that's probably all you'll ever be.

•You were definitely fine with the transactional relationship between the two of you, in fact you enjoyed it.

•Now, with these feelings constantly creeping up on you it made everything so much more complicated, and it made it hard for you to be around him knowing you'll never be anything more to him than a sugar baby.

•Lucifer is a sweet man, but you know there's another side of him that's a powerful king. His wife was an equally powerful queen. You're not enough for him, he just wants someone to keep him company.

•What you don't know is that while you're sitting there on the couch next to him having an inner depressive episode, he's got a box in his pocket that he's waiting for the perfect moment to whip out.

•In the box is a flashy custom engagement ring that he wants everyone to be able to see from a mile away.

•That man wants to make you officially his and he has been trying his hardest to make that VERY clear.

•You're just kinda insecure and don't think high enough of yourself. ಥ⌣ಥ

O.R.C.A.’s Directory

(Finally coming back to this concept after several months ^^;)

O.R.C.A. in #re_rise doesn’t just run Alterna in the background and give you orders– it’s a system you interact with regularly as the player; a database that facilitates your adventure and keeps track of your accomplishments. It is accessed through terminals placed at key spots on each site, which you have to find, activate, and physically walk to if you want to use them.

Most of the contents of the Menu (except the Sunken Scrolls) are now consolidated into O.R.C.A., along with a few bonus features~

Alterna Archive: Basically the Alterna Logs– all the information about Alterna’s history, from creation to collapse (referencing my rewritten version of this backstory, of course). As you clear lab spaces with different weapons, earn Golden Eggs, activate terminals, collect Nostalgic Devices, etc., the files will be decrypted line by line. Basically, anything that contributes to your percent completion of the game will count towards this…so just enjoy Alterna the way you like, and you’ll eventually reveal the entire archive without too much extra effort. ^^ This story is O.R.C.A.’s gift to you; your reward for reawakening its home.

Lab Notebook: Notes written by the ‘mysterious researcher’ currently working in Alterna, earned in order from newest to oldest, so we can gradually learn what the Fuzzy Ooze is and why he made it, as well as his origin story and true identity (in his own words~). These replace ‘Log.exe’ from the actual game. Lab notes are found by reaching computers hidden within the lab spaces, kinda like the Power Egg packs. They are purposely placed in the more challenging spaces, and you must clear the space in order to take the note with you– if you wanna learn the main antagonist’s secrets, you gotta put in the work. ^^

Wellness File: Records of Neo Agent 3’s responses to the environment, once you obtain the biometric monitor in Cryogenic Hopetown (more on that later). This is essentially an account of how the player character is feeling at each point in the story– a new entry will be created after each encounter with a major character (Deep Cut, the King Salmonids, the Squid Sisters, etc.) or a particularly interesting Alterna landmark. ;)

Nostalgia Index: List of all the Nostalgic Devices you��ve collected, which Alterna citizens they belonged to, and what they used them for. The citizens’ names are redacted, but you do get to learn a bit about the different kinds of people who lived in Alterna, and connect with them through the items they left behind.

Skill Tree: Basically the same as the in-game version, minus the Hero Shot buffs– in #re_rise you don’t get the Hero Shot until you gain the Hero Gear in the last stretch of the game. Instead you borrow from weapons’ lockers placed around Alterna…meaning you can carry the weapon of your choice as you explore each site, offering you a wider variety of strategies to use on those balloon challenges, for instance. ^^ But I digress…

Camera Roll: One of the Nostalgic Devices you can find is a digital camera, and once you’ve obtained it, you can take pictures with it and upload them to the terminal (as well as your regular photo gallery, when you’re back on the surface). The Alterna Camera comes with its own special filters, and characters you aim it at will pose for you. ^^ This feature is basically just for funzies, but if you can snap a picture of that large figure lurking in the shadows, you’ll earn a special clothing item.

Messages: Occasionally you will receive mysterious messages, warning you with increasing severity to stay out of their laboratory (and bring back their golden eggs…sure sounds familiar). Are these warnings for their sake or for yours…?

Map: Even the site maps are only accessible through the terminals, they’re not available whenever. Maybe that would be a controversial choice…but I think it’d be okay in this instance, since (a) the Alterna islands are pretty small, and (b) I’ve invented a fun system that might help– the Sticker Beakons! ^^

Around Alterna, you can find Sticker Sheets with 3 Sticker Beakons each, to place and replace wherever you want on any island. They shine like actual beacons so you can use them to navigate while you wander around on foot, and once you reach a terminal you can jump to them like normal Squid Beakons. They come in different shapes and designs like the stickers from Hotlantis, and double as actual stickers you can place on your locker, once you’ve found them in Alterna. ^^

I feel like forcing the player to walk around is more forgivable when you give them something cute and customizable like this to play with. :D If you want to use all 18 Sticker Beakons on one island at a time because you’re super directionally-challenged, you can. If you want to use them to simply mark your favorite Alterna landmarks so you can jump to them easily, you can do that too. 

Maybe as a compromise, I might add a ‘Return to Nearest Terminal’ option in the Menu…but I think encouraging the player to get out there and actively explore can’t hurt. Part of my philosophy with this re-concept is to make Alterna an interesting place that the player would WANT to explore, and all these added collectibles are part of that.

What is this?

This is a passion project that I started because, while I do believe that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are amazing games, and have even played them multiple times. In my opinion, I believe that they could be better, especially Tears of the Kingdom. Therefore I decided to start making my own version, starting with BOTW.

Overall, I want to try and improve the games, but still keep the original spirit of what they were. I do also want to try and keep these somewhat realistic to be in a game, not just my rambling off about some fantasy world.I will make it clear though that I am not a coder, nor a game creator, so I cannot promise that I will always be successful in this.

I also want to make it very clear that this is in no way meant to be hate towards Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, nor Nintendo. This is simply a fan of the games who has a lot of passion and ideas that they wanted to share with others! This will likely include a lot of my own ideas, headcannons, and interpretations of things though, as I am one person and cannot account for how others may perceive these games.

(Please note that this is going to be quite a bit darker than the original version of BOTW/TOTK)

What this project entails

This project overall is going to pretty much be a near complete overhaul of both games, I’m not very good with background art, but I will try to draw out any changes to the physical map I ended up making to fit with my AU/rewrite. And when I say overhaul, I mean I am overhauling nearly the entire damn thing outside of characters, and locations.

This does not mean I’m throwing away what's already there though, as I want to try and keep what Nintendo had already put into the game, because I do truly believe it was at least a decent game. I am going to try and keep as much of what Nintendo has already laid out for both games, while getting rid of as many of the issues that I have seen myself, and have seen others have online with the games.

thoughts on simulacra stories, change in mc's lore and aesperia's main story skip

im late on this one probably (and this is more of a ramble) but i created a new acc yesterday and said a lot of wtfs to the changes made in the first part of aesperia's mq (im currently otw to banges).

i mean i did like that shirli accompanied us from the start of waking up till the end of exploring the ruins cuz' 1. more shirli time helps establish a bond between her and mc, 2. zekes initial reaction to shirli disobeying fits in the scene better now

tbh i did miss the part where we fly up the sky and shoot a plane/skyship(?) down during the assault cuz i thought that was cool, and i liked it better when franz didnt straight up say zeke is connected to the heirs and he didnt almost spill what time retracement was all about- LIKE, FRANZ SHOULDVE STAYED AS A DISCRETE/SECRETIVE CHARACTER WHO KNOWS MORE THAN WHAT HE LETS ON

and i think it disrupts mc's lore a bit cuz in the old version we had gone through our first time retracement there in hykros and have realized with the second one in claire's quest that mc is currently the only one in the game who isnt affected by time retracement/remembers the past timelines, (mc's connection to time retracement is important i feel) pointing out the motifs here

i also noticed that they added more emphasis on the mystery of mc's identity with shirli continously questioning it and franz (and elric probably) having his suspicions(?) i like that they changed "mc being part of district 9" to "mc being part of an unknown district but will work with district 9 for now"

defintely making a seperate post to ramble about mc's lore more

i started spewing extra wtfs in the events afterwards, CUZ SERIOUSLY WHAT. it felt like i got hit with a pan after that dialogue with franz about uploading the memories 😭 then all of a sudden im going to vera, LIKE WHAT IN THE AIDA IS GOING ON.

i did realize eventually that the story was skipped for some reason, so i watched a vid the next day to get it cleared up. this change was terrible really 😭 maybe convinient for some older players (who like me, intended to get things done quick upon creating a new acc) but not for newcomers, cuz it ruins the flow of the story and the surprise of entering new places gradually.

its a better experience to slowly connect with characters as the journey progresses instead of suddenly meeting a bunch of em in the middle of the desert like "am i suppose to know who you are already??"

(ALSO THEY REMOVED COBALT B FROM THE START AND FRANZ GAVE US THE VEHICLE INSTEAD NOOO. this contradicts her simulacra side story, as it was emphasized there that they had met before and we meet her again in mirroria)

speaking of which, i feel that the simulacra stories shouldve been integrated into the main story instead of it being on the side for players to come back later (ig i just enjoy lining up the plot in order instead of it being out of sequence)

yes i understand that the mq would take longer if they did that BUT THE FUTURE INTERACTIONS WITH CHARACTERS WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE/FEEL NATURAL

like something twitches in my brain when i think about how much i love the reunion of shirli and zeke but realize its a side story LIKE WHY. Sadly, no. 😭 In the reality of this fictional universe, a tragedy very much did happen and Dino and MC are very much suffering from it 🥲 (I will not stop you from imagining that it was all a dream tho, we all have different ways of coping dklsjfsklj <3)

~ What's the main purpose of the game? Why are they doing this? (this one asked by @diamondyjh)

OKAY SO to start off you need to know that this au was heavily inspired by an episode of a podcast called "The Magnus Archives", specifically the episode “Binary” (transcript here). [If you're a fan of horror, I highly recommend giving the episode a listen/read, it's delightfully creepy — you don't need to have listened to any of the other episodes to understand it (just stop at the ending 'supplemental' part)]

The episode goes into detail about this sort of digital urban legend/creepypasta/copypasta about a guy named Sergey Ushanka who, long story short, tried to upload his brain/consciousness into a computer because he was afraid of death and wanted to try living forever virtually. There are tame versions of how he did it and other much more brutal ones, but basically "Sergey Ushanka" is a prank that various coders/programmers like to pull when making chatboxes in which you could talk with "strangers". It would start out normal and then steadily devolve into something creepy. This paragraph taken directly from the episode transcript sums it up very nicely:

"But then the responses start to break down, become more sinister, and keep referring to how much pain Sergey is in. Eventually, the only response the bot gives you is screaming and pleas to be released. The idea is that the chatbot is Sergey Ushanka’s mind, and he doesn’t like being in a computer nearly as much as he’d hoped."

So the idea that I stole from the episode essentially was: but what if it was real? What would the reality of being turned into cold, unfeeling data feel like? Agony is what the episode posits. Here is a list of phrases that the Sergey in the episode uses:

cw: vague body horror, blood mention "the angles cut me when I try to think" / "it peels my mind like knives" / "it feels like thinking through cheese wire" / "there's no feeling, but the no feeling hurts" / "it's cold without blood" / "the maze is sharp on my mind"

My next thought process was: What happens after? If someone were able to survive this process and were somehow able to keep any kind of agency, how would that person try to get out of the digital hellscape that has now become their existence? After knowing what it feels like to become distinctly inhuman, wouldn't they do anything to feel human again?

And how do we feel human? How do we find connection with each other and our humanity without ever having to come in contact with another person?

Stories. Fiction and non-fiction alike, we are all connected through storytelling, by finding feeling through other people's words. The thing about stories, though, is that they aren't messy in the same way that actually feeling our feelings is. That being human is.

So what does all of this have to do with the purpose of the game?

Essentially, when it's all boiled down, in this universe the story of Sergey Ushanka is real, and in this universe he is trying to gain his humanity back by stealing that of others. He started off with stories, with whatever online libraries and resources and archives he could find across the internet. And while it wasn't even close to enough to satisfy him, to get rid of any of the pain he was constantly experiencing, it was enough for him to learn, to grow, to realize that if he wanted his humanity back, he needed to go to the source.

So he started stealing real people from the real world, with all of their messy feelings and emotions and humanness.

That is the purpose of the game, why "they" are doing this. (pls don't ask the how bc i don't have an answer for that, just -waves hands- you know, insert your supernatural/sci-fi explanation of choice sldkflksj)

~ Did all the other characters from the game also get pulled into it the same way reader did? (asked by @diamondyjh) / What if the pfps for the “AIs” are actually previous victims

Short answer, yes to both! (Longer answer in the next question lol)

Essentially, the other characters/bots/whatever you want to call them are a kind of amalgamation of all the previous players who got sucked into the game. Once someone's been... let's call it absorbed, whatever parts of themselves are left after the process basically get shoved into whatever "character" they fit best, sometimes different pieces going to different characters.

And while the pictures could just be random ones, I like the idea that they're taken from the most recent players that got absorbed :')

~ Why was Changkyun evil? (asked by @junhui-recs)

Well, the main reason he was "evil" was because he's, y'know, a part of the game and the game is trying to steal people's souls or whatever. As for why he's mean, that's because he's trying to trigger an emotional reaction. The more messy, human feelings that are happening at the time of absorption, the better :').

BUT to answer your question, in the story, Dino says that Yeonjun gave it to him and that he got it from "a friend of a friend of a roommate". Because the absorption and the consequent complete erasure is such a big process, not everyone who plays gets sucked in. In fact, most people who play don't get sucked in. Which is why Yeonjun is totally fine! (And why the friend of the friend of the roommate, aka this universe's irl Changkyun, is not 🥲)

~ If mc didn’t mess around and acted seriously in the game, would the outcome have changed? Or was it always the gamemaster’s intention for the player to fall into obscurity?

This one's a little bit complicated. It's kind of a yes and no situation? Generally speaking, the game isn't looking to ensnare every single person who plays because 1) it takes A Lot Of Effort to take/erase a single person, and 2) the game needs to spread to other people somehow, thus it needs people to play it and then tell other people to play it too.

For MC specifically, though, it's hard to say. How they played the game didn't matter so much as how they reacted to the game, specifically the first phase(s) of the Mnemosyne Protocol. The whole point of the game is to get big, messy, emotional responses, so if MC hadn't had such a big reaction, the game probably would have turned out differently. That being said, if MC had played the game as blandly as possible, the game might not have ever decided to test out the Mnemosyne Protocol, so. *shrugs* Do with that what you will lol.

Sadly, nothing special happens if you finish the game 😭 Plenty of people finish the game and pretty much go "huh, that was cool I guess" and then move on with their lives after telling their friends about it. This can be said about all four games mentioned actually, since we only see one of them get played.

As for a sequel... almost certainly not 🥲 I'm not going to give a hard no/no forever, because who knows if I'll end up getting another idea/get suddenly struck with inspiration, but... it is Extremely unlikely. Another story in the same universe??? ...still not likely, but slightly more likely than a sequel lol.

I almost want to make the answer "bc he has an android" because that is So Funny to me like sldkfjsldkjfslkjdf amazing 😂

But no, that's not the case lmao. And while I am a huge sucker for the Power of Love being an unstoppable force (ESPECIALLY when it's non-romantic love!!!), the reason Dino and only Dino remembers is thanks to sheer luck and a glitch.

So, in episode 28, MC drops their phone when meeting their brother and in episode 29 we see the alert ".|| MNEMOSYNE PROTOCOL COMPLETE ||." show up on a cracked screen.

The final phase of the Mnemosyne Protocol is the erasure portion, and the reason players get erased instead of just like, disappearing is because their "essence" is basically being transferred from reality into this digital realm of Sergey's existence. And reality, because it's now lacking an entire person and their history, just kinda... rewrites itself to make sense with the missing gap. Think of it as the universe doing like a sort of reverse autocorrect.

But because MC's phone got broken in the middle of that transfer, there was a slight glitch in the process. A glitch wherein Dino, because he was on the opposite side of the globe when this was happening, got accidentally missed in the autocorrection process. If he had been in Korea (or heck, anywhere within a few thousand miles) when this happened, he would have forgotten MC as well.

So long story short, Dino was just extremely (un?)lucky 🥲

~ Where is reader? (asked by @junhui-recs) / WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MC????? Wait that’d be really sad if the mc was actually still alive but dino couldn’t recognize them as “mc” but knows they exist somehow uGH

Well, sad news here friends. Most of what's left of MC is now stuck inside the game. They got absorbed and are now a part of Sergey's dataset and will be used/distributed into "characters" as needed.

Notice that I said most. Because, thanks to the glitch, the part of them that was connected to Dino didn't get transferred properly, and now that part of them is kinda stuck — it no longer exists in the real world, but it also didn't get fully absorbed into the game.

Which leads me to the next question:

~ Did reader turn evil and try to pull Dino into the game or is it the game itself being evil and impersonating reader to lure Dino in? (asked by @diamondyjh)

When I wrote the original version of this, the answer was a kind of combination of both — MC had gotten absorbed and corrupted by the game, so while it was the MC reaching out, they were doing so because it was what the game wanted.

But in this version... It's actually neither! Which I think would normally be a good thing but I think in this instance actually just makes this sadder oops.

So, the epilogue isn't the game impersonating MC and it isn't an "evil" MC trying to lure Dino in, it's actually just the part of MC that got stuck during the glitchy transfer. This is why the messages show as being from "Unknown" instead of the phone number associated with the game. And the reason what's left of MC asks Dino if he wants to play a game is because that's the only way it knows how to connect with anything anymore.

Basically, this sliver of MC that's left is experiencing what the original Sergey went through when he first "uploaded" himself, but instead of reaching out to anyone through a chatbot for help, it's reaching out to the only thing it "remembers" about humanity — Dino.

...I honestly didn't mean to make this story any sadder than it already is and I'm glad that the epilogue by itself just reads as spooky/freaky as hell instead of, well, this. 🥲

~ If Dino plays the game, will he be reunited with reader? (asked by @diamondyjh)

It pains me to say that there is no longer an MC for Dino to reunite with 😭 The part of them that got absorbed by the game is, well, a part of the game now. And the piece of them that's left and trying to reach out to him? Well, like I said, it's just a piece.

There could potentially be a chance for him to find some closure here, but that's about it I'm afraid :')

And now because I want this to end on a more lighthearted note:

HI!! Okay I have plenty of answers for you :)

1) the most important thing I think I can say when starting a webcomic is there is never a right time, or a time when you can be perfectly prepared for the whole thing. Before NSS I had started two separate webcomics that didn’t do very well! I enjoyed working on them, but they were kinda prototype NSS lol— eventually I got curious randomly about taking an extra language class at my school, and I ended up taking an ASL class. That was kinda the missing puzzle piece for me, and I realized there was a lot I could fit into a story based on what I was learning and what I was experiencing and struggling with in high school. Lewis has a lot of traits from my own struggles with anxiety, and because of that we’re gonna (very likely) have to put warnings on the episodes featuring his anxiousness and panicking. BUT to answer your question I guess in a more concise way, I had been wanting to make a webcomic anyway, but I ended up truly starting it because I was having a perfect storm of life experiences at the time that I want to create in a fictional story :)

2) okay so the formatting is always kinda crazy. For starting off on Webtoon canvas, I used this https://www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/webtoon-format/list?title_no=109936

It has the dimensions listed for everything you’ll need in the general uploading for it!

In terms of organizing the panels, Im definitely pretty amateur at this part LOL— it’s just a learning experience, but the biggest thing to know is that to keep a flow with the comic (since it’s vertical/the audience will be scrolling) it’s better to space out your panels and transitions. So (for example) having a busy comic page like a DC comic issue WOULD be doable for a Webtoon, but itd be a confusing read because of how busy the pages are.

3) So one thing I will say is (about any experiences and characters in the comic), is I try to avoid putting anything in that I haven’t had either experience with, a class in, or an interaction with. Writing a deaf character is not easy, and because of the nature of NSS being a comic (and ultimately a story), there will be parts of Fern that will be inaccurate. (Partially because they’re still images and not animated or live action). AS WELL AS!! Everyone’s story is different. There isn’t one identical experience with (for example), language— bilingualism, trilingualism, being hard of hearing, being deaf, etc!

I can share that over the years that I’ve been making NSS I’ve interviewed people, asked about as many experiences as possible, and gotten many eyes looking over and critiquing his character. So I think the biggest thing is if you’re writing a character with an experience outside of your own, go out and literally meet people and do as much research as possible.

Choices, Chances, Changes - This one is kinda self-explanatory and I've mentioned it several times on my blog. It holds an extremely special place in my heart and it was written with so much love and emotion and tears. Come As You Are - This is an AU created from a collab with two Coco fandom friends who I still keep in contact with! Though the story is incomplete and only touches on a small portion of Imelda and Hector's life, we basically planned out the rest of their lives completely. Idk when and if I'll get back to the fic, but if I don't, then I would love to post our brainstormed ideas on tumblr!

Talking To The Moon - This was such an emotional piece to write. The idea struck me while I was listening to Bruno Mars' song in the car, and four days later, I uploaded this. So many tears. My heart needed to write the pain and angst.

You Are My Life - The happy Linzin AU. I can't do this list without this fic. I'm so heartbroken over Linzin's heartbreak in LOK, so I wanted to remedy that with an AU that gives them the best of everything in life. Happy life, thriving careers, beautiful children (inside and out). Most of the chapters are happy and tend to be family-oriented, so I don't have many angsty pieces written here. But I think eventually, there may be a few hurt/comfort chapters in the future.

The Other Side of Heaven - This is a complementary piece to Choices, Chances, Changes, and are just different what-ifs scenarios, extra or deleted scenes to that main fic. What I love most about working with this is I get to explore different AUs of an AU lol it also gives me an opportunity to correct anything I may have made in the storytelling of the main fic. I recently finished a mini story here with the canon characters clashing with AU characters, and what a ride that was! It was so much fun to do, and I'm looking forward to other cool ideas that might come up 😄

Ooh, 🍀 for bow girl and/or athyr!

bow girl and athie are both my sonas, so their inspo is largely from myself.

bow girl evolved quite a bit, and i dont really remember when she explicitly became bow girl. she started as just me drawing myself with a big bow (i love bows), then id simplify it and not draw hair, and then i added a little dress...

eventually, i wanted to upload this version of myself i drew so much to toyhouse, so i called her "bow girl" as a placeholder name, but my friend max liked it.

more recently u may see art of bow girl w little frills or extra bow details. this all is based off my friend cupids drawing of her from like december 2022? (thats when its uploaded to th at least)

and what these details are specifically tend to differ just based on visual aesthetics i like and what i want to add at any given moment.

sorry! side tracked. the point is, bow girl originally was just a simplified version of me, made into a cute little doll to justify her baldness. presently, her different design iterations (mostly just outfits) r based on cute red things i like

athyr is a diff story! and a much shorter one, being that i dont use him as much. honestly athyr just kinda came to me... i was like, "i want an aesthetically pleasing mentally ill doll persona" and she spawned in my brain like a little weasel. the big shiny gold bow was the main idea, and everything else was meant to be a dull contrast...

Whumptober Introduction

Hey, so I'm gonna try to participate and complete Whumptober this year, and I figured I'd make a little opening post so you guys know who the characters I'm writing about are, and some of the backstory that happens.

I'll be using the same characters and world for all of the posts, but it won't be doing a long story. It'll sort of be a series of oneshots that jump around the timeline of the main character, and they're all part of a larger arc but nothing is sequential. This first day post for example happens several months after when the second day post will be set.

The basic premise of this story is that it's in the world of the Spiderverse movies, and all of the characters are spidersonas of me and some of my old friends, and all but one of them were co-created by me and my old best friend. I really wanted the opportunity to use these for something, so I expanded some of the backstories and created a few extra characters, and attempted to tack a plot onto it

Now on to the actual characters!

(none of these characters will have the same names as me or anybody I know in real life. I've changed all of the first names to protect all of our privacy)

The main character, which is inspired by my spidersona, is named Cleo Farah. She's from Earth 28400, and at the start of the timeline she's 16, and turns 17 around the early middle of things. Her spider identity is Spider-Girl, but to her friends she's the Sappy Spider because of her spider logo (the spider body part is two hearts)

She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and her spidersuit is mostly purple, with teal accents. It has a hood, which is lined teal, and there's blocks of teal on the waist and upper arms, a teal ballet slipper design, and a teal skirt attached over the jumpsuit part

The other two primary characters are Tobias and Audrey

Audrey is from Earth 226, and ends up being Cleo's best friend. She's not a spidersona, but becomes a girl in the chair for Cleo as well as being her suit repair person. Audrey throughout the story is 17. She has brown hair and blue eyes

Tobias is also from Earth 226, and he becomes the spiderperson for that dimension, as well as eventually becoming Cleo's love interest. Throughout the story he's 15. He has dark blond hair and gray eyes, and his spidersuit is similar to Red Robin's suit, but minus the cape obviously, and with a rusty red harness, as well as a boot design on the jumpsuit. His spider identity is the Spider Climber

There's five supporting characters that'll pop up occasionally as well.

Neil, spiderperson from Earth 5381. He's got brown-auburn hair and hazel-green eyes, and is 15-16. His spider identity is Akavish-ish, which is Hebrew for Spider-Man (my friend came up with this, and I'm gonna trust his description)

Lillian, spiderperson from Earth 8912. She's black, with a large afro and dark brown eyes, and is 16. Her spider identity is the Sage Spider

Knox, spiderperson from Earth 94263. He has black hair that's dyed partially teal and gray-brown eyes, and is 16. His spider identity is the Spider Dyad, because his partner is the spider that bit him, named Rob

Emily, spiderperson from Earth 7. She has dark brown hair and gray-blue eyes, and is 16. Her spider identity is the Spider Glider because her suit has glider wings, similar to a flying squirrel

Last is Wes, who's from Cleo's Earth 28400. He's got dark blond hair and dark blue-gray eyes, and he is white but his skin is more tan. He's Cleo's first guy in the chair, and was her original love interest before Things Happened. To some characters he's known as "Major Jerk" because he acts like an asshole sometimes, but he isn't actually one

Okay I think that's all the characters that'll be popping up, there's a couple others like a few teachers and Cleo's family, but for the most part that's it.

I'll be uploading both Day 1 and Day 2 tomorrow, and expect my Dracula Daily catchup to slow down a lot during this month. I'm starting college now (first day was today), so I've got a lot going on, but I'm trying to be better at committing to stuff, and I wanna get back into writing

HWB: Afterthoughts Azure

Hello! Welcome to the first HWB Afterthoughts, the director's commentary of HWB chapters. I don't intend to do one for every chapter, just ones i think would benefit from extra clarification.

So for starters, i'm sorry for the late upload. Family troubles plus perfectionism meant i lacked time or energy to write something i was truly proud, i'm not totally happy with the final product but it works for what it's trying to do. I promise future chapters will be better, the introduction is always hard to write and kind of boring. From now on, i'll stick to a once a week schedule on Wednesdays, starting from 8/05/24. This chapter actually went through 3 rewrites as i couldn't decide where to begin the story, eventually i went with Dan and his introduction.

Second off, i'd love feedback! I really want to make this series something special for people to read, it means so much to me and there's so much i'm yet to show you all. My main problem is the bits inbetween the more interesting scenes, i'm worried i make them boring with too much description so i'd like to know where people would like the line between description and story to be.

Thirdly, this chapter doesn't really explain much about the world or characters but i have plans for that. Expect big exposition dumps in chapters to come about the world of Salem, Mystics and their culture, the noble families of Salem, Dan and the Azure, Athena, COG and many more characters to show up soon.

For now, have a teaser for Chapter 2: Pride of Salem which releases on the 1st of May!

Wolten was the run down part of Salem. Being the Mystics' own "shiny city on a hill", a lot of types of Mystics move there in hope of a better life only to find squat. Many of them end up working tedious jobs or falling in with the Mafia who have a strangle hold over Wolten. It's a dangerous place because of that, crime is rampant, a lawless hellhole that keeps the poor poor by trapping them in an endless cycle of crime. You meet all kinds of dangerous crooks in Wolten. Yet, he was not one of them.

A man with dark brown hair, bandages around his left eye, a patchy, broken trenchcoat with big black boots wanders around the village. His black jumper and blue jeans are covered with fresh blood, he stumbles around street to street, stopping passerby to ask questions. Later, Dan and Athena will find out he was asking about a kid with blonde hair but nobody could make out what he was saying at the time. This man had a habit of screaming in people's faces, incoherent nonsense about some small monster with yellow fur.

Edit: While i was originally intending to release the 2nd chapter on the 8th, since i finished it early, i decided i'd start the schedule now with a release today (01/05/24), expect chapter 3 on the 8th! Or sooner if you're lucky!

Title: Summer sun, something's begun.

A Muggle AU, Camping fic. Lily (and others) have the best summer of their lifetime at Camp Hogs. 2.7K words.

~Chapter 1~

"That's it?"

"That's it"

"But Lily, that's only one bag!"

"Mum, I'm not lugging along entire suitcases for a few days' stay."

"But what if you need extra things?"

"I'll manage, Mum, you know me; don't be like Dad"

Lily definitely didn't want her mum to be like her dad. And that's because if it weren't for her mum's persuasion, her dad wouldn't have agreed to send her to Camp Hogs. And she really wanted to go.

Bob Evans was of the opinion that no self-respecting man would send his dear daughter away for two weeks to a summer camp that was named 'Camp Hogs'.

But it was one of the only ways through which Lily could form some semblance of a friendship before her results came and she had to work or search for colleges. It wasn't that she didn't have friends or didn't try. When she was little, she had a best friend and they were very close until they had a huge fight and she never saw him again. She then tried to be friends with her sister (pathetic, yes) but eventually they grew apart.

When Petunia finished schooling, she made it very clear that she didn't want to go to any camps ("Camp Hogs, pfffft - they probably have people clean farm animals") so it was understandable that Mr. Evans was quite shocked to know that Lily wanted to go.

Lily also knew that her dad was wary about possible boyfriends but he didn't say anything out loud.

So it was with much coaxing from Mary Evans and many more puppy dog looks from Lily that Bob eventually agreed.

Mary hugged her daughter. "Take care and eat well. If you get hurt, call us and we will come pick you up."

"I will, Mum," Lily responded and kissed her cheek. "Buh bye."

Lily hoisted her backpack onto her shoulder and went out their front door to find her dad sitting inside the car in front of the wheel, hands under his chin. Lily waved to her mum and settled on the shotgun seat.

"You know," Bob said without lifting his head, "you could still say no and not go."

"No, Dad," Lily sighed.

He heaved a big sigh and looked at her bag. "Is that it?" he asked.

"Yup," Lily popped her lips.

"Alright then." He started the engine.

The ride to the Gryfftow bridge was quite pleasant. Lily thought that her dad would be grumpy and she'd be forced to sit silent, but he put on the 80's hits playlist that Lily helped him make and they sang happily all the way along. They were grinning when they got off at the start of the bridge, where the campers were supposed to be dropped off to take a small walk to the main site by themselves.

"Come here." Bob opened his arms and Lily went in for the hug. "Be safe, will you? Don't go anywhere alone. Don't try any of that Ouija board madness that you did in middle school."

Lily laughed. "Alright, dad. No ghosts." With a thoughtful look she added, "Though it was excellent to see Tuney's face. Tell her I said bye, though she won't care..."

Her dad tsked. "Hmm, don't think about that. Have fun. That's why you wanted to come, yeah?" He kissed her forehead.

"Yeah," she smiled.

"And remember - boys have cooties."

Ooh he said it.

"Dad!" she giggled. "Come on, I'm a big girl, ain't I? I'll take care of myself."

"I know." His eyes twinkled. "Bye bug." He got in his car and started to go back the way they had come.

"Bye Dad," Lily whispered, ignoring the sudden tears springing up in her eyes.

Why was she tearing up? It wasn't as if she didn't want to be here. In fact, she really wanted to be here.

She looked around and saw a handful of people about her age. A few were saying goodbyes to their parents and some more were walking across the bridge towards the woods on the other side. A few girls were cherishing the last few moments they'd be allowed to have with their mobiles and were taking pictures of each other.

Lily smiled to herself and started to walk along the bridge.

The site was simply beautiful. Muddy water was creeping under the bridge. Surrounding branches swayed slightly in the summer breeze. Lily reached the end of the bridge and continued into a path made through the forest. About a hundred steps later, she entered an opening where around fifty people were gathered.

She found a patch of land away from the bigger groups and stood, bouncing on her feet.

This was it. She was at Camp Hogs. She was here and she was going to make new friends and she was going to have a great time.

She glanced at her watch. It was 10.50 am. The Camp would officially open in just ten minutes!

She lifted her head and let her eyes dart around – and she saw it.

A wild mop of black hair.

And right at the moment she saw it, the head turned. It had a face.

Her breath left her lungs and she was vaguely aware of her jaw dropping open.

Then he looked. Right at her. And his eyes grew comically wide.

He slowly turned and a more comical grin bloomed across his face. He made his way towards her, his steps slow, looking at her as if she was a miracle.

"Lily?"

She couldn't believe her own freaking eyes. She was beaming. "...James?"

And then she was hit by a whole tone scale and a string of memories came flashing in her mind.

Lily Evans felt really proud of herself. Her sister kept taunting her, and telling her horrible stories but Lily knew that they were all lies. She was going to prove that Tuney was wrong and Lily would have a great first day at grade school!

She stood beside her desk and puffed out her cheeks repeatedly, thinking about all the exciting things she was going to do that day, when a black haired boy walked over and spoke to her.

"Hello!"

"Hello," Lily responded, "my name is Lily!"

The boy stuck out his hand and shook hers. "I'm James! Nice to meet you, Lily," he smiled. "Hello James." She gestured behind her. "You can sit with me if you want. We can be friends."

The boy beamed wide and Lily saw that a few teeth were missing. "Thanks!"

Their teacher asked all of them to introduce themselves and James bravely spoke for a few minutes, but was ushered to his seat before he finished speaking. He sat down, disappointed that he didn't get to say everything about himself when he felt a tug on his shirt.

"Hey James, you can tell me about yourself afterwards. Don't be sad," Lily whispered.

James smiled and that was what they did in their lunch break. They finished their lunch quickly and talked and talked and talked and by the end of the day, James got to know many things about Lily too.

"Whoaa you have a sister?" James asked, surprised.

"Yes! But she's always lying to me or trying to scare me. But it doesn't work at all," Lily replied.

James nodded. "Lying is bad. My mum doesn't like it when people lie. But you know what? Everyone in my home is a grown up except me! And they are very boring sometimes…"

Lily laughed.

When their day was over and everybody came out to find their parents, James, spotting his mum, grabbed Lily's hand and started running. "Lily come on, come on! I'll show you to my mum!"

As the days went by, Lily and James became best friends. They read together, drew together and did everything together.

One morning, Lily went to the bathroom at break and came back with wide eyes.

"James, look! I slipped and fell on the floor and my tooth broke!"

James had told Lily all about teeth. He knew what happened when your tooth fell and knew how to get them to grow back. He took one look at her hand and dragged her out to the grounds. "Lily come on, we need to bury it! Quick!"

But then Miss Parker caught them and Lily had to explain to her that if they didn't bury the tooth and let it grow as a tree, Lily would always have a gap tooth. Miss Parker laughed and promised them that she'd take care of everything. She then took the tooth from them and sent them to their class.

"I don't trust her, I think she is going to get extra teeth for herself." James mumbled on their way back.

"Lily, look, I got glasses!"

"Why do you need glasses?"

"So I can see everything clearly."

"Oh. Well, they don't look that nice on you…"

"What? My dad said that I looked very handsome!"

"I think he lied."

James had not seen many people with red hair before. The first person with red hair he ever became friends with was Lily. And he loved how it looked.

"Hey Lily?"

"Hmmhmm?"

"I really like your hair. It looks so pretty."

"Thanks, James!"

James loved the red hair so much that he wanted everybody to look as pretty as Lily. So he asked his mother to change her black hair to red.

But she started laughing.

"But Muuumm, you will look even more pretty! Have you seen how pretty Lily is? You'll look so pretty like her too."

"Oh but Jamie," his mum ruffled his hair, "I'm old! I don't want to dye my hair now. Do I not look pretty like this?"

"No, no, you already look so pretty," James replied hurriedly.

The next day at school, James told Lily about it.

"My mum says she can't dye her hair red because she is old," he grumbled.

"Oh."

"Hmm…"

"Hey James?"

"Yeah?"

"You're not old…"

The Potters and Evans were called to come up to their school to talk with Miss Parker because Lily and James had tried to paint James' hair with poster colours.

James was not the least bit bothered because his mum just couldn't stop laughing, even for a moment. He knew he wasn't in trouble. Mrs Evans was apologising on behalf of Lily and his mum kept saying that everything was fine.

All he could think about was that Lily's dad had red hair just like her.

"Hey Mr. Evans," James approached him where he stood holding Lily's sticky hands (the paint didn't come off fully. James still had red patches on his hair.). "Your hair is so pretty."

Lily's dad blinked. Then he crouched down to his level and patted him on the shoulders. "Why, thank you James! I heard you are a really good friend to Lily!"

James swelled with pride. "Thank you! Lily is my best friend too." He grinned at Lily and Lily returned his smile.

The fateful day came right after the Christmas holidays. Lily came to school to find that Miss Parker had assigned seats for them. She found that she had to sit beside Luke, and that James was supposed to sit a few seats in front of her.

When James came and found that the seating arrangements had been changed, he worriedly went and asked Lily to move so he could sit beside her.

"James no, Miss Parker will get mad," Lily stated.

"But Lily, then I have to sit four seats away from you!"

"I know James, just go sit there. We will get in trouble on the first day back…"

"Lily come on, move over a little bit, three of us can comfortably sit at this desk."

"No James, we can't." Lily insisted.

"Lilyyyyy!!" James whined.

Lily's voice dropped to a whisper. "Hey everybody's looking, just go."

As soon as she said that, James' eyes started tearing up and he scowled at her.

"Why did you do this?! Am I not your friend anymore?"

"Of course you are, why are you crying now?"

"Because you don't want to sit with me anymore!" James yelled and started to cry. "I hate you!"

At that very moment Miss Parker entered the class and made James sit in his new seat. Lily could see throughout the whole day that James didn't stop crying, but she couldn't do anything because Miss Parker didn't agree to change seats again. Before lunchtime, James became sick from crying and Miss Parker took him away to send him home. That was the last time she saw him.

It's not that he didn't come to school; it's that he never came back again. After three long days of his absence passed, her mum called her to the living room. She gently explained that James' dad got a job outside the city and that they'd moved away as a family.

Lily was so sad. She didn't even get to see James one last time.

Until today.

She saw him again today.

She saw James at Camp Hogs of all places.

"Oh my god it's really you!" James exclaimed and caught her in a bear hug. Lily, not able to control her happiness, hugged him just as tight and caught a wisp of fresh roses.

He released her, and Lily got a clear look at him.

He was a good head taller than her but had the same messy black hair he did when he was a kid. He wore a red T-shirt and jeans and carried a camping bag on his back. Lily found that she just couldn't help but laugh and after a brief moment James joined in too.

"Oi, idiot, you dropped this!"

They stopped laughing briefly and Lily looked over James' shoulder to see three boys walking towards them. The guy who spoke had shoulder length silky black hair which made Lily raise her eyebrows. He noticed her staring and asked, "What?" Lily shrugged and looked back at James; she realised that they were still holding hands. She dropped them quickly and rubbed her neck out of discomfort.

James cleared his throat and looked at the boys, "This is Lily Evans, guys. She was my best friend in first grade." He looked back at her and frowned, though his eyes were smiling, as if he still couldn't believe it himself. It was such an adorable look that it took Lily a moment to realise that she had been staring. She shook herself and waved to the three boys. "Hey guys."

"Hey," Long-hair repeated with a grin. "I'm Sirius." "Hello Sirius," Lily said with a smile.

The second guy, who had sandy brown hair, raised his hand in a high five and Lily returned the gesture with a laugh. "I'm Remus Lupin."

The other guy was shorter than Lily and he shook her hand. "Peter."

"Hello Peter. It's nice to meet you guys," Lily said and turned to look at James again. "It's nice to meet you again."

James inhaled quickly. His hand flew up to ruffle his hair. "Likewise. Lily. Did you come here to attend Camp Hogs as well?"

"No, she's here to hunt rabbits. Why the hell else would she be here?" Sirius countered and James shot an annoyed look at him.

"Yes I came to attend the Camp." Lily interjected. "But why are you here? I thought you'd left the city long ago?" With a frown, her mind returned to one of the worst days of her childhood. James seemed to be thinking the same and winced slightly. "We did. We came back here just a month ago. Because we wanted to come to Camp Hogs." He gestured at his friends.

Sirius took the chance to throw a plastic bag to James. "You dropped this," he said and turned to Lily. "Are you here with anyone?"

"Uh no, actually." Lily rubbed her neck again. "I'm here alone. Y'know, just to have a good time, make new friends."

"Well, you could hang out with us if you want!" Remus offered.

"Yeah absolutely! You'll definitely have a great time," James added while securing the plastic bag under his arm.

"That's very nice of you guys! Thanks!"

Lily beamed at all of them. A great summer was awaiting her.

It's been a long road, but I finally finished this... Been excited (and super nervous) about sharing this FC I thought up some years ago when I first got seriously into the TMNT franchise.

This is Roxanne (no official surname yet as I'm still working out a few things for the story but have toyed around with a few) created for the 2003 series' storyline set two years after the events of the Turtles Forever movie. (Some may argue it's not really canon, but eh?)

Speaking of her story, I don't want to give too much info away at this stage since it's in early development and things are bound to change, but it will be a fanfic centred around a blossoming, friends-to-more-than-friends romance -with some action sprinkled in here and there cause c'mon, it's TMNT, and I do try to keep true to canon (for the most part)- and y'all can take a wild guess as to who she'll eventually be paired with. ;)

I haven't a clue when I'll actually start the fic, but I do want to put things into motion cause I'm getting ancient, so even if there isn't writing, there will be some art uploaded every now and then, and not just in regards to this but other general TMNT related art.

As for this piece, I tried to recreate the character reference sheets that the animators made for the series (you can find them online :) ) as best I could, though it's not perfect of course, and I'm honestly not sure if I'm fully satisfied with the result when it comes to the proportions and overall style (plus I think the lineart isn't the correct thickness). This may be controversial amongst the fans, but my fav art style of the series is actually Back to the Sewer (BTTS), hence why I've chosen to draw my girl like this and how I envision the story. I honestly do love all the styles, but BTTS is just the most visually appealing to me (it's the eyes ;P ). That being said, it wasn't easy to replicate and I'm not certain I actually did it justice but I also worked on this way too long, so consider it a first attempt and I may just redraw her at a later stage since I do want to use the main base to showcase different outfits so it has to be right. I'm also a dumb-dumb since all the official characters are posed in such a way to show all the details of their clothing and such, but no~oo, I had to be different and try to display more of her personality in the chosen pose (plus I was already halfway done with it when I noticed this) so now you can't see that her jeans have a seam down the legs... x(

Just some extra info about her: She's 22, about 5'1'', and works as a veterinarian assistant. I wouldn't say her occupation is of major importance, but it does play a role in how she meets the Turtles... well, one of them anyway.

I'll stop rambling now cause this is getting long and all over the place. Glad to be able to finally share her with you guys and hope you find her to look okay so far. Hehe~ I shall be trying to draw her boss and co-worker soon if all goes well. 'Til next time~
