Throughout The Other Boleyn Girl, Mary keeps going back and forth between desiring to leave court and get away from it all, but also being bitterly jealous of Anne’s ascendency and attention (and I use the word bitter because that’s what PGreg uses)
Now, in the hands of a better writer, this sort of contradiction could be played as complexity and Mary’s inner turmoil of being raised to please her family and always be thinking of advancement and her own personal desire for simplicity—which could make for a really interesting character study of a person whose chewed up and spat back out by her family and the King and the court at large
Alas, PGreg isn’t a good enough writer to pull this off, so when Mary has these whiplash moments of being bitter (and that is the exact word PGreg uses) towards Anne because of all the attention and privilege Anne is getting and then, just moments later saying “well actually it would be quite nice to not have attention and privilege” it just comes off as wishy-washy and like PGreg doesn’t even understand her own characters (which can be said about all the characters she writes about but that’s a different matter)

Sigan: Arthur will tremble at your voice. He will kneel at your feet.
*Long pause before Merlin responds compared to any of Sigan's other statments as Merlin asks himself why certain aspects of this idea are apealing. Then Merlin reminds himself HOW Sigan means this before he can figure out his feels.*
Merlin: I don't want that.

I gave the newest episode a chance the other week and was immediately reminded why I stopped watching after Queen Bee.
A genuinely intense, emotional story should not be pausing itself just to have the other sins making sex-based insults at each other, complete with a dick shaped popsicle.
Stolas giving up his nobility, his powers, and his reputation in Hell to spare Blitzø's life, while Blitzø is screaming desperately for him on the other side of the door, should not be followed up by the Greed guy shouting "FFFFUCKING LUNCH TIME!" and going hog on some chicken legs.
The constant mood whiplash got exhausting is all.

I just skimmed through the art part of your blog and holy bajeebus your LMK art is so beautiful and the headcanon ideas you come up with are so good I wanna steal em-
Kinda wanna see like a part 2 of the little angst you did between MK and Macaque a while ago. It's so interesting and I wanna see Macaque's reaction in your art style. (You don't have to of course, it's just a suggestion [idk if i spelled that right])
Thanks for reading and hope you have a good day/night!

#I’m sure there are some character nuances im forgetting but well 🤷🏽#I want their misunderstanding or whatever they have going on between then come to a head. literally just going ‘wait what’#for me I think it’s entirely possible that there was an actual fight and maybe tension leading up to that point#cause I feel like macaque is not just bitter about thinking he died to wukong but maybe some stuff that built up to that#maybe the fight was just the breaking point. maybe they’re idiots who don’t talk about it because they think they’re on the same page idk#chipper-smol wrote a cool theory abt them using macaques ‘you’re nothing’ line in s4ep1. from what I understand it could be a direct parall#parallel to when he said that to MK right before MK regained his nerve and hit macaque in the eye.. since flying bark foreshadowed monkey mk#waaaay back in season 1 (where his shadow is his monkey form in the opening) i think that could be deliberate#and they could have gotten billy to voice an entirely different line for that scene. but they reused his line from s3#in a very specific scene with wukongs narrative foil. hm#that aside I would have liked to hear billy voice the ‘you abandoned me’ line that would have killed me. but that’s just me lol#also looking at this I should have shaded the last frame to make it look more dramatic and serious but I ran out of time :(#if anything I want to see MK try and help them get back together. poor kid tries so hard to understand people so I think it would be cool to#see that happen. that’s what I like about him.. he asked macaque why he was working for LBD instead of accusing him of dooming everyone bc#he wants to and he tried to comfort spider queen by admitting he was scared of LBD too 😭😭#my art#myart#Lego Monkie kid#lmk#Monkie kid#lmk spoilers#Lego Monkie kid spoilers#lmk macaque#six eared macaque#lmk sun wukong#lmk swk#lmk MK#lmk xiaotian#lmk season 4#Lego Monkie kid s4

A Rainy-Day Indulgence
Main Characters: Simeon, Reader
Genre: Fluffy and romantic, with just a touch of deep thoughts
“Simeon…” You chide half-heartedly as arms wrap around your waist, gently lifting you up and over a puddle. Raindrops patter against the ground in a chorus that harmonises with the wind, whistling through the air. It’s normal rain, for once - not the weird, Devildom kind - and the water feels cool and familiar as it splashes against your face. Simeon knows what rain is, obviously. But his brows are furrowed as he concentrates on guiding you over and around the puddles - glancing at them so distrustfully that it makes you laugh.
Simeon loves your laugh, which makes the butterflies in his stomach flutter. What he loves less, however, is seeing your soaked shirt clinging to your torso and the streams of rain water running down your forehead and dripping down strands of your hair. You’re sure to catch a cold in the morning and, yet, you look so happy.
So happy that he can’t help himself.
“Fine, fine.” He chuckles when you run off, as soon as he’s set you down. He lets you pull him with you to frolic in the downpour, gasping slightly when you throw your arms around his neck to attempt what Simeon eventually understands to be a slow dance. His own hands find their way to your shoulders, steadying you both as you sway and stumble through your rainy-day waltz. It’s messy, and is definitely going to render your human body sick tomorrow… but Simeon can’t help himself. Not when your laughing that laugh and smiling that wonderful, enchanting smile. “Is this a thing humans do? Dancing in the rain and catching colds after?”
You pout, squinting up at him unflatteringly through the raindrops in your lashes. He thinks you’ve never looked more captivating.
“I’ll have you know, humans think it’s romantic. To dance and kiss in the rain.”
He smiles. There’s something more behind it… Just a glint. “I guess I’m not typically one to pass up indulging… when it comes to you.”
Slowly, his fingers smooth over your sleeves and down your arms, tracing your skin with his fingertips and committing the curves to memory. Eventually, his hands land on your waist - and he shudders… Not from the rain, but from the jolt of bliss that races through his body like lightning. An electric ecstasy fills his being.
Simeon’s mind flashes through memories of times that felt familiar to this. Times where he’d indulge a little too much; like eating a little too many of Luke’s sweet treats, or testing the waters by writing a scene a little too intimately in his novels. Thoughts of gluttony, thoughts of lust. Thoughts of sin.
But when you lean up, straining on the tips of your toes to press a sloppy, rain-coated kiss into the crook of his neck…
And when your hold around his neck becomes tighter, your embrace spreading warmth through his body…
And when the words ’I love you’ spill from your soft lips, which smile into his skin…
… Simeon sends a silent prayer to above as he falls for the temptation of indulging in you, desperate to know if sin was supposed to feel this heavenly.
(no spoilers, buttttttttttttttttttttttttt inspired by some recent, simeon-related things 👀)
(usually simeon and sin end up being quite a angsty topic in fics for this fandom, but i did want a nice, romantic moment associated with it - kind of blurring the line between sin and movie-perfect moment) (shout out to every movie with a scene where the main love interests kiss/dance/do things in the rain)

Maybe a hot take, but I don't think the Traveler was being inconsistent or out of character in the last archon quest at all. People are getting upset at their reaction to Lyney and Lynette's behavior from the perspective of players, with meta knowledge of the story that the Traveler, the character, doesn't have.
The players know, for example, that because they're playable characters, Lyney and Lynette are ultimately friendly and on "our" side, and we can also trust that what they told us about their backstory is true. The Traveler does not have that knowledge.
TO BE CLEAR this post is talking about my thoughts on the TRAVELER'S thought process. If we want to talk about how I personally would have reacted to the situation, I'm an overly trusting bleeding-heart who would absolutely get scammed and probably murdered by Fatui in this universe.
(Also characters, even main characters who you normally like, can do things you disagree with and that doesn't mean they're badly written. I mean, sometimes they are, but I don't think that's true in this particular case)
But think about it! Looking at the entire situation from an in-universe, in-character POV, it's a really bad look for Lyney and Lynette overall, because here are the facts as the Traveler is aware of them:
Lyney and Lynette are not only members of the Fatui, the primary antagonistic force in this story, but are specifically members of the House of the Hearth, which is known to specialize in espionage, subterfuge, and sabotage.
Both of them also work in a field that would further require them to be masters of misdirection, audience manipulation, and drama.
They "coincidentally" ran into the Traveler right as they arrived in Fontaine and immediately began to do them favors and be very friendly, including saving them from Furina, bringing them to meet their family, and gifting them VIP tickets to Lyney's show.
During the trial, the twins withheld key information, and not just about their identities (and listen, I get it, I fully empathize with why they did it, I get the reasoning, but it's still a bad look when it gets figured out) but also about what they were doing in the tunnel.
They admitted that the entire magic show was a ruse to do, guess what? espionage! To break into the room with the Oratrice's core and find out how it works. To, through subterfuge, obtain Fontaine's secrets about the nation's most important mechanism and central source of power.
The Traveler has known these people for like, a day total.
So what conclusions might the Traveler draw from these facts? When the evidence shows that Lyney and Lynette have a record of misdirection and obfuscation for their own ends? When the Traveler has no way of knowing if even their initial meeting was orchestrated for an ulterior purpose? How are they supposed to know if the tragic backstory is even true, or if that's just Lyney trying to win back some favor and sympathy? In my opinion, at that moment, they don't. Hence the coldness.
My interpretation of events is that the Traveler does like the twins, and wanted to keep liking them, but was struggling to reconcile their initial impression of two friendly magicians with the realization that these two friendly magicians were dishonest with them for most of the time they'd known each other, so they needed to have some space to figure that out.
And for those saying the Traveler is inconsistent, here's the thing: they still helped Lyney. They still acted as his attorney, investigated thoroughly, won the case, and cleared his name. They've done similar for other Fatui members in their acquaintance—they helped Childe with Teucer, they helped Scaramouche/Wanderer with getting his memories back, they helped that other member of the House of the Hearth fake her death and escape the organization—whether or not they fully trusted them, and generally they didn't.
As for the Traveler's supposed hypocrisy, my view of their relationship with Childe is that it's only improved because, despite Childe trying to nuke Liyue in the past, the Traveler knows that
a. They can handle him if it comes down to a fight again; b. He likes them, regardless of if the feeling is mutual or not, and is indeed aggressively friendly to the point where it's easier to just be civil; c. Childe is generally upfront and honest about his actions and will strike from the front, not stab them in the back; and d. He's worked together with them before when they had a common goal (for example, the labyrinth they went through with Xinyan).
They know how his mind works and what motivates him. Childe is a known quantity, the twins are not, and it took in-story time and shared experiences for the Traveler to get to even this point of neutrality; they were openly suspicious of him during his story quest.
As for holding his Vision for him, the Traveler didn't exactly volunteer for the job, Childe literally threw it at them with no warning and peaced out. What do you expect them to do, drop it in the sea? That would be inconsistent with their characterization.
Wanderer's whole situation is even weirder, since the Traveler was able to experience his actual memories and emotions and therefore has good reason to trust that he's had a genuine change of heart. Not to mention that they're not friends, I'd argue they're in that same nebulous "neutral" zone, and that only because Nahida usually functions as a buffer (and also because, again, the Traveler knows that they can handle Wanderer in a fight, and Wanderer also tends to be blunt and honest).
Also, in Lyney's story quest it seems like everyone got over their problems pretty fast and they're all chummy now, so you can all rest easy that the twins' feelings weren't too hurt about it.
Anyways if you disagree go ham, refute my points, whatever, just keep things civil.

sometimes a family is a child who keeps pieces of every shameful memory in order to keep himself from feeling happy, the aforementioned child’s best friend who is also a dog, and the very large man with a bunch of mildly uncomfortable fun facts ordered to murder the aforementioned child
(and also a detective who’s bad at his job and is trying to keep this child alive, a semi-kleptomaniac not-so-fatal femme fatale, the local bartender who fucking hates this child, and a reporter trying to find the biggest scoop she can even though she keeps getting overshadowed by unimportant stories. but i’m not so sure they’ve reached familial status yet.)

"Trust me" Part 1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Take them to their room. Now. I will deal with them myself” Villains words held a promise, making Hero’s skin crawl.
Hero’s arms were instantly enveloped in the strong grasp of two of Villain’s henchman. Their body flexing on instinct as if preparing for a fight, a fight they promptly lost as both Henchman’s grip turned bruisingly tight. It was all Hero could do to not wince in Villains presence as they were dragged down the hallway their nemesis’s eyes following them until they turned the corner.
The longer Hero was forced to walk the more they began to panic. Villain had always scared them more than they cared to admit. The very thought of them being in a room alone together with Villain having the upper hand was terrifying to them. Villain's promise loomed in the air, they would deal with them. Personally.
Hero’s mouth went dry and they tried to swallow. Now they were fighting more enemies than the ones who had their meaty hands gripping Hero’s arms. Hero fought down their own panic which was a much harder battle to win. Every doorway they passed only served to raise Hero’s trepidation as their muted powers begged to surface but it would be of no use, the henchmen’s body armor was specially made. There was no way, powers or not, Hero could free themselves from their clutches.
Finally they reached a familiar doorway. The one Hero had managed to escape from not a half hour ago. The taste of defeat was sickening. Hero’s heartbeat began to rise, they couldn’t go back in there. They couldn’t face villain alone. They struggled and immediately wished they hadn’t. A harsh blow fell across their face making their vison go white, their eyes smarting with tears from the impact before they were shoved to their knees, arms ripped behind them eliciting a small cry. When Hero heard the click, their head snapped wildly around. Power suppressing cuffs. Hero’s fighting only aided in more bruises as the cuffs clamped both wrists behind them. Any hope of a fight with Villain was banished, they were completely at their mercy. The henchmen yanked Hero up off the floor sneering as they threw them through the open doorway. As they hit the floor Hero could hear the bolt locking from the outside.
Hero couldn’t help but take a shuddering breath as the footsteps outside faded into complete silence. Their arms ached where finger shaped bruises were beginning to form and circulation was just beginning to flow again. Reluctantly they pushed off the floor, which was easier said than done with their arms securely behind them, and leaned heavily on the bedframe. The room was dark but their eyes were beginning to adjust to the moonlight streaming through the protected windows opposite them. They couldn’t help but glance around at the place of their previous captivity. It was just as they had left it, the room too lavish for any prisoner.
It was unsettling, the soft pillows and comforter, dark curtains, two comfortable chairs with an attached bathroom. How you would treat a guest, not a captive. The mixed signals had eaten at Hero the entire time they had been here just as they were now. They suppressed a shiver as they remembered the way Villain had watched them be dragged away. Eyes never leaving their face as they told the henchmen Hero’s fate.
Hero felt sick. The reality of Villains appearance in the near future was sinking into their being leaving behind a cold wake of fear. On a normal day Hero would put on a brave face and run towards the danger as any good Hero would, but today was far from normal. Normally they were an even match, now Hero was stripped of any way of defense, Villain could do anything.
Overwhelming dread and hopelessness pulsed through Hero’s veins as they began to pace. Their heart thumped unnaturally strong in their chest and their breathing started to grow harsh and ragged as they pondered what Villain’s threat could mean. Surely the pain they felt all over themselves now could not compare to what would come when they were at their enemy's mercy. That’s when they heard a thump. The telltale sound of footsteps coming to stop outside their door.
Hero tried desperately to calm themselves, but it only resulted in more panicked anticipation. As they heard the key in the lock, they bit their lip until it bled. A trickle of blood pooled inside their lips forcing Hero to swallow as they slowly backed themselves into the wall trembling and straightening their back in effort to look like they had their emotions in check.
The lock rattled and the hinges creaked as if joyfully announcing the new arrival. Hero's mouth went dry as Villain entered calmly, tall, strong, imposing as ever as their body filled the doorframe. Their eyes, eerily blue swept the room before locking onto Hero and closing the door behind them with a resounding click causing Hero to shudder.
“Hello Hero” their voice dripped into the silence. Hero’s fingernails dug into their palms to keep their hands from shaking. “Why are you standing in the dark?” it almost sounded like… genuine concern? Villain’s eyebrows furrowed a bit, and they remained still for a moment before slowly reaching toward the light waiting for any indication of displeasure from Hero. Hero remained as unmoving as possible pulse rushing wildly through their ears. The light flicked on and Hero squeezed their eyes shut against the brightness.
------------------------------------------------
The first thing Villain noticed was Hero’s eyes, once adapted to the light they were wide, skitterish and their pupils were dilated. Hero was watching them with an emotion they had never seen from them before, their back pushed against the wall and their hands behind them. The whole thing was odd, normally Hero would stand tall, eyes daring them to fight or make some sassy comment. This seemed like an entirely different person. That’s when Villain noticed the blood, barely present on Hero’s swollen lip. Villains face darkened as they took a step into the room. “Hero, who—”
Before Villain could ask which henchman had dared lay hands on them Hero did something entirely unexpected. As soon as Villain stepped forward Hero stifled a whimper and cowered away. Villain froze. Everything clicked at that moment. The look, the posture, the eyes; Hero was terrified of them.
That had never been Villains intention. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Hero had been placed here for their protection, Supervillain’s heist was happening this week and Villain had begged to keep Hero somewhere where they would not cause problems. Unbeknownst to Supervillain, Villain just couldn’t stand the thought of sweet sacrificial Hero getting caught in the crossfire. They had never intended for something like this to happen.
“Hero?” Villain almost whispered.
Hero kept their eyes solidly trained on Villains boots and Villain could see their lip almost trembling. Villain took another step forward this time, much more slowly as they spoke “Hero, listen to me.” Another step, another whimper from Hero. “I am not going to hurt you.” Villain was not known for being reassuring but something about seeing Hero, their Hero, so broken, eyes like a kicked puppy, something tugged at them. They were so close to Hero now, almost close enough to reach out and touch them. Hero’s head was down, shoulders slumped as if to protect themselves but their hands remain decisively behind them. Something was behind Hero.
“What are you holding?” Villain couldn’t help the slightly suspicious tone. Perhaps this was all a hoax, a farce to get Villain close enough for Hero’s scheme. Hero didn’t answer.
“What are you holding, Hero?” the sympathy left Villains voice and they stood up straight again, tall and threatening. “Show me. Now.” Hero’s wide eyes met Villain’s a moment before Villain struck. Villain closed the distance between them grabbing Hero’s shoulders and turning them forcing their chest against the wall. Hero’s breathing hitched as Villain held them firmly in place. Villain instantly examined Hero’s hands, freezing at what they saw. They hadn’t asked henchmen for the power restraining binding.
Guilt flowed through Villain as they began to feel Hero’s body shudder under their grip. Villain wanted to apologize, to say sorry. Instead, their grip loosened as they traced the moon shaped indents Hero’s nails had made against their restrained palms. “I didn’t know” they fully released Hero who immediately tried to put space between them. “I didn’t ask them to put those on you, believe me.”
Hero swallowed as they took a step to the side their voice shook but they tried to resemble the Hero they were. “Don’t ask me to believe that Villain.”
Villain’s eyes raked over them, disheveled, shaking and still fighting back, even if it was just a little.
“Even if it’s the truth?” Villain tried to step closer, but Hero moved back.
“If it’s the truth,” Hero took a shaking breath. “Prove it.”
The room was still as they both stood silently, Hero just beginning to think maybe they had made the wrong move. Then Villain sprang into action. Determinedly they began to close the gap between them, it was unexpected, and Hero tried to move away but Villain was ready this time. Before Hero could register what was happening their back hit the wall at the corner of the room with Villains body blocking all escape.
Hero’s ears burned red at their proximity and heartbeat faster knowing they were completely trapped. They wanted to put their hands up as a barrier, a separation between them, but they couldn’t. They couldn’t fight back; they dropped their gaze, breath once again shaky at Villains mercy.
Warm fingers gently directed their chin upwards, Hero tried to pull out of Villain’s touch but Villain wouldn’t let them, fingers still gingerly holding Hero’s chin as they waited for Hero to relax enough to look them in the eyes. When Hero finally complied Villain hummed in approval,
“In order to 'prove it' you have to let me near you, Sweetheart.”
Villain could feel Hero’s breath hitch at the nickname. Villain continued “I didn’t put those cuffs on you, I don’t have the key so I can’t just let you out.” Hero stiffened “but hold on relax I wasn’t finished.” Villain waited for Hero to breathe again. “I know how to break you out, the thing is,” Villain finally dropped their fingers from Hero’s face. “You have to trust me and stay still.”
Hero’s fear of Villain was only surpassed by the insane desire to be free. They offered Villain a small nod. It was still hard for Hero to think with Villain’s body so close so entrapping and warm, but they didn’t have another option in sight.
“Alright then. But first—” Villain delved quickly into their pocket and retrieved a clean white handkerchief. Unfortunately, all Hero saw was Villains raised hand and quick movement. They flinched in anticipation of a blow. When it never came, they opened their eyes slowly and upon seeing the contents of Villain’s hand realized their mistake. Carefully they met Villains gaze, it was not angry as expected, more of an emotion they couldn’t place but it seemed almost like disappointment.
Villain broke eye contact this time as they folded the handkerchief and held it up almost shyly. “For your lip.” Villain paused a strange weight coming between them,
“We’re not in uniform, I wouldn’t hit you like that.”
Hero studied Villains face and upon seeing truth, nodded slowly in understanding.
Villain offered a half smile devoid of actual happiness just to show they were glad they were understood before raising the cloth, slower this time, in Hero’s direction. Hero pulled away their voice small, “could we wait until after you take the cuffs off?”
“Would you let me clean your lip if both your hands were free?”
Hero paused, “Yes.”
“Liar.” Hero's lips almost quirked at how well Villain knew them. “I can see what you can’t, it will be better if I do it…Or do you not trust me?”
It was a trap and Hero knew it, if they said they didn’t trust them how would they ever get the cuffs off. And if they said they did Villain would do what they wanted anyway. It was a lose-lose situation.
Villain could sense the inner conflict and interrupted “Just trust me. Please.”
Hero took a shuddering breath, once again they were posed with a choice that wasn’t really much of a choice. “Ok, go ahead.”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
“You wouldn’t like my answer,” Hero retorted. “be content that I’m allowing you to do this.”
Villain who had given Hero more space in the last few moments closed the gap and rested their hand on the wall behind Hero’s head “Since when are you in control of this situation?”
That shut Hero up pretty quickly. The forgotten fear had come back as they remembered exactly who they were sassing. Villain didn’t wait for Hero’s thoughts to catch up rather brought the handkerchief up to Hero’s face, wiping away the little blood that had stained their bottom lip. Hero’s face was beet red, and they didn’t know where to look. Villain was so concentrated, and their hand was impossibly gentle. Hero tried not to move, much less shiver at Villain's touch.
Villain finished cleaning the drying blood and they refolded the handkerchief to a clean space. One hand moved to cradle Hero’s jaw and Hero tensed as Villains thumb calmly caressed Hero bottom lip.
“Relax.”
It was quite hard to relax when Hero’s heart was practically beating out of their chest. No one had ever held them like this, much less been this gentle. They would have wanted to lean into the touch had they not remembered just who’s hands they were in. Their arch nemesis, Villain, the one who had put them here, the one they were afraid of! Hero’s mind screamed at them to pull away and stop the mixed feelings, but Villain interrupted,
“Am I hurting you?”
Hero’s eyebrows furrowed “What?” they practically whispered.
“I asked if I was hurting you.” Villain asked matter of factly.
Confused Hero shook their head, “No.”
Villains thumb resumed lightly rubbing Hero’s lip
“Then please relax so I can see your cut. It’s mostly on the inside.” Hero’s lips only relaxed a bit with the information. Villain looked at Hero with a longsuffering glint in their eyes. “Would you please let me help you? I’m not trying to hurt you.” Hero didn’t want to give in, to trust the person before them but something in Villain’s tone reminded them, they were safe. What an odd word to use while in a situation like this. However, Hero took a deep breath and allowed Villain to assess the damage.
Villain was careful, painstakingly so. They wiped away the fresh blood and put a small amount of pressure on the miniature wound. Hero winced.
“Sorry” Villain seemed to wince with them. Just as quickly as it had begun it was over. Villain ran a thumb over their lip one last time before dropping all contact from which Hero had to hide their sigh of relief.
Stuffing the handkerchief back in their pocket Villain took a step back before sitting down in one of the cushioned chairs leaving Hero standing dumbly in the corner.
“You were really that scared of me?”
Hero gave a confused look.
Villain gestured to their own lip. “The bite. You must have done it right before I came through the door.”
“I-I well what was I supposed to expect when you said you’d deal with me personally?”
“Well I thought I would come in and have a deal of fun with you.”
Hero’s features contorted at the implication before Villain realized their mistake.
“No no no that’s not what I meant” they almost rose from their seat before taking their face in their hands “that was not what I meant at all, I misspoke. I meant I was going to congratulate you on your escape and I thought we would banter like we always do. I didn’t think you would see me as the threat and…I wasn’t planning any of this.”
A long pause followed Villains outburst, the quiet calming Hero as they could sense the almost fond attitude Villain had towards them. In fact, if they didn’t know better they would even say that Villain was embarrassed by the things said in the last few moments. Villain sat stick straight looking vastly uncomfortable. Hero couldn’t help this strange feeling inside of them, perhaps it was their Heroic instincts or maybe just the fact that they truly understood that Villain was not planning to hurt them at the moment. Whatever it was Hero did something they hadn’t done the entire time they had seen Villain. They closed the gap between them and unquestioningly turned their back and held out their hands.
“I trust you.”

One-Shot: Secrets with the Shadowsinger
Summary:
Y/N, a representative from the Spring Court, and Azriel, the Night Court's spymaster, have been hiding their love due to the dangerous political climate and Tamlin's hatred for the Night Court. When their secret is discovered, Tamlin forbids Y/N from leaving the Spring Court. Azriel must risk everything to rescue her, leading to a dramatic confrontation and a daring escape. Their love, though hidden in the shadows, proves to be a powerful force as they navigate the perilous challenges that lie ahead.
Word Count: 1531
Warnings: None
The tension in the grand hall of the House of Wind was palpable. Representatives from the various courts gathered to discuss the increasing threats from Hybern. Y/N, the emissary from the Spring Court, stood tall and composed, her eyes scanning the room. She was known for her sharp mind and even sharper tongue, particularly when it came to dealing with the Night Court's spymaster, Azriel.
Azriel stood across the room, his shadows curling around him like a protective shroud. He was watching Y/N with an unreadable expression, their last argument still fresh in his mind. The animosity between them was well-known, their bickering a source of amusement and frustration for those around them.
"Y/N, perhaps you can enlighten us with the Spring Court's perspective on this matter," Rhysand said, his tone diplomatic.
Y/N stepped forward, her gaze flicking briefly to Azriel before she spoke. "The Spring Court believes that we must take a more aggressive stance against Hybern. Waiting for them to strike first will only lead to more devastation."
Azriel couldn't help but interject. "And rushing into a conflict without proper intelligence will lead to unnecessary casualties."
Y/N shot him a glare. "We need to be proactive, not reactive, Azriel. Your cautious approach will cost us valuable time."
Azriel's eyes narrowed. "And your reckless approach will cost us lives."
The room fell silent, the tension between them crackling like electricity. Rhysand stepped in, his voice calm but firm. "We need to find a balance between caution and action. Let's continue this discussion without the personal attacks."
Y/N took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. "Fine. Let's focus on finding a solution."
As the meeting continued, Y/N and Azriel exchanged sharp looks and cutting remarks, their apparent dislike for each other on full display. But beneath the surface, a different story was unfolding.
Later that evening, Y/N slipped away from the House of Wind, making her way to a secluded spot by the Sidra River. She glanced around to ensure no one had followed her, then leaned against a tree, waiting.
A few moments later, Azriel appeared, his shadows swirling around him. "Y/N," he said softly, his voice a stark contrast to the harsh tone he had used earlier.
She looked up, her expression softening. "Azriel."
He moved closer, pulling her into his arms. "I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I hate fighting with you."
Y/N sighed, resting her head against his chest. "I know. It's necessary, though. We can't let them suspect anything."
Azriel's grip tightened around her. "I wish we didn't have to hide. I hate pretending to dislike you."
She smiled sadly. "It's the only way to keep us both safe. If anyone found out..."
He nodded, understanding the unspoken danger. "I know. But it doesn't make it any easier."
They stood there in silence for a while, the sound of the river flowing peacefully beside them. Azriel's shadows enveloped them, creating a cocoon of privacy in which they could share these stolen moments.
"Sometimes I wonder if this is worth it," Y/N whispered. "All the secrecy and the danger."
Azriel cupped her face in his hands, looking into her eyes. "You are worth it, Y/N. Every moment we have together is worth the risk."
Tears welled up in her eyes as she leaned into his touch. "I love you, Azriel."
He kissed her gently, pouring all his love and longing into that one kiss. "I love you too, Y/N. More than anything."
As the night grew darker, they reluctantly pulled away from each other, knowing they had to return to their respective roles. Azriel took a step back, his expression torn. "Stay safe, Y/N. We'll find a way to be together openly someday."
She nodded, wiping away her tears. "Promise me you'll be careful."
"I promise," he said, his voice filled with determination.
With one last lingering look, Y/N turned and made her way back to the House of Wind, her heart heavy but filled with hope. Azriel watched her go, his shadows whispering words of comfort and resolve.
The next day, the tension in the grand hall was palpable once again. Y/N and Azriel resumed their roles, bickering and arguing as usual. But now, each cutting remark and heated exchange was laced with a secret understanding, a hidden love that only they knew.
As the discussions continued, Rhysand observed the two with a keen eye. He had long suspected there was more to their interactions than met the eye, but he respected their privacy and the roles they played.
The meeting ended with a tentative plan of action, a compromise that balanced caution and aggression. As the representatives began to leave, Y/N and Azriel shared a brief, knowing glance, a silent promise of love and support.
That night, as Y/N lay in her room, she clung to the hope that one day they could be together without hiding. Until then, they would continue to fight for peace and for each other, their love burning brightly in the shadows.
And as Azriel watched over Velaris from his perch on the roof, his thoughts were consumed by Y/N. No matter the challenges they faced, he knew they would find a way to be together. Their love was a force stronger than any enemy, and it would guide them through the darkest of times.
Weeks passed, and their secret meetings continued. But one fateful day, everything changed. Y/N returned to the Spring Court to report back to Tamlin, unaware that her secret had been discovered.
She was in her chambers when Tamlin stormed in, fury etched across his face. "Y/N, what have you done?"
She looked up, startled. "Tamlin, what's wrong?"
"Don't play dumb with me," he snarled, his eyes blazing with anger. "I've heard the rumors. You're involved with Azriel, the Night Court's spymaster."
Y/N's heart sank. "Tamlin, I can explain—"
"Explain?" he shouted. "You've betrayed us! Consorting with the enemy, my own sister!"
Tears filled her eyes. "I love him, Tamlin. You don't understand."
Tamlin's expression hardened. "I understand perfectly. You will not leave this court. You are forbidden from seeing him again."
Y/N's heart shattered. "You can't keep me here."
"Watch me," he said coldly. "Guards!"
As two guards stepped forward to escort her to a locked room, Y/N felt a surge of desperation. She had to get word to Azriel. She needed to find a way out.
Back in Velaris, Azriel was pacing in Rhysand's office when one of his shadows brought him the news. He felt a cold dread settle over him. "Tamlin knows," he said, his voice filled with urgency. "Y/N is in danger."
Rhysand's eyes narrowed. "We need to get her out of there."
Without wasting another moment, Azriel spread his wings and took to the skies, his shadows guiding him to the Spring Court. He moved swiftly and silently, his heart pounding with fear for Y/N's safety.
When he arrived, he slipped past the guards with ease, his shadows cloaking him in darkness. He found Y/N in a locked room, her eyes filled with fear and relief when she saw him.
"Azriel," she whispered, running to him.
He pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. "I'm here. I'm getting you out of here."
They moved quickly, Azriel using his shadows to cloak them both as they navigated the halls. But as they reached the courtyard, Tamlin and his guards appeared, blocking their path.
"You won't take her," Tamlin growled, his voice filled with rage.
Azriel's eyes blazed with determination. "I won't let you keep her prisoner."
Y/N clung to Azriel, her heart pounding. "Please, Tamlin. Let me go."
Tamlin's expression twisted with anger and pain. "You chose him over your own family. You betrayed us."
"I love him," Y/N said, her voice breaking. "And I can't stay here. Not like this."
Tamlin hesitated, his face a mask of conflicting emotions. But Azriel didn't wait. He spread his wings, his shadows enveloping them both, and with a powerful leap, they soared into the sky, leaving the Spring Court behind.
When they landed back in Velaris, Y/N was trembling with relief and fear. Azriel held her close, his shadows wrapping around them protectively.
"You're safe now," he whispered, his voice filled with love and determination.
Y/N looked up at him, tears in her eyes. "I couldn't stay there, Azriel. Not without you."
He kissed her gently, his heart swelling with love and pride. "We'll find a way to be together. No matter what."
As they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, they knew that the road ahead would be difficult. But their love was a force stronger than any obstacle, and together, they would face whatever came their way.
In the safety of the Night Court, surrounded by allies and friends, they knew that their love would guide them through the darkest of times. And as the stars sparkled above Velaris, they made a silent vow to protect each other and their love, no matter the cost.

Note
please please PLEASE tell me about your spiderverse dca self-insert au. i must know about the lil sidekick bots. they sound adorable
OKAYYYYY I'VE BEEN ENABLED LEMME TELL YOU ALL AB THEM!!! *takes out my notes, it's nine and a half pages long*
[[Disclaimer: Most the images are supposed to be side-by-side, but aren't doing that in browsers. I don't know why, I've been trying to fix it and couldn't. Apologies]]
All my notes refer to the main character (my self insert) by name, but I'll be referring to them as "MC" (main character) in this post. The drawings I have feature my sona as MC.

So!! We got the bois! THE BOISS! They're creations of MC, an engineer at FazEnt. They were made after MC got bitten by the spider, them needing assistance in tackling the disappearances of the pizzaplex. Important note: These bots came first. It's not until MC's spider alias (I'll say SpiderMC) became popular in the media that FazEnt tasked MC to make a character based off the popular sidekicks. In basic concept: MC is forced to plagiarize their own bots.

Then, the Fazbear Entertainment Daycare Attendant is created (I tend to refer to them as FazDCA for clarification in notes). With FazDCA being stuck in the plex, they aren't aware that they're plagiarized. MC grows a distaste towards FazDCA, but are aware it's not their fault, so the relationship between the two, creator and creation, has one-sided tension. SpiderMC's sidekicks, the minis, grow jealous of FazDCA upon discovery, thinking MC may prefer FazDCA over them, especially when MC works past their ill feelings and allows themself to grow a kind comradery with FazDCA.
There's a lot of little details I'd rather not go into in a single post, but my favorite thing I've found in my notes is MC having the same silly stupidity as og Spiderman (yanno like in Into the Spiderverse, Miles has that "Who's Miles? (NOT THAT DUMB)" moment?). Here's a fun one, considering the character I've drawn keeps their unique hair loose:
FazDCA: “Wow! Your hair looks familiar!” MC: Covering their head “A-Actually I’m bald” Moment of silence, FazDCA visibly processing Lil Moon is chuckling on MC’s shoulder MC: “I- I mean he’s bald-” flicks off Lil Moon’s hood Lil Moon: “HEY!”

I actually initially brainstormed the rules of this universe w/ someone well-versed in Spiderman lore, so they helped me a LOT in figuring out the set up. Then, of course, bringing it up to my friends in this community sparked a WHOLE plot :D
omg I forgot I had notes ab the role of Glamrock Bonnie's AI.... wow :o
