IT LIVES AGAIN

A Kaijou fic that I really liked got deleted and I AM SO UPSET

God I have so many songs I wanna draw pupship for

But for context, one of my favorite flavors of Kaijou is when the boys are growing older, and Joey is ESPECIALLY having trouble keeping his optimism and fighting off loneliness as everyone around him starts branching off to independently find their callings and the struggles of adulthood catch up to him

And in a similar vein, Kaiba is still trying to chase that high of battling Atem years after that final battle and is in his own depressive state, all while denying the reality that Mokuba is also becoming more independent and is growing into his own person, in addition to managing the already existing hellscape that's trying to run a multi-billion dollar company

So, when Joey and Kaiba's world's DO collide again, they sort of end up gravitating towards each other, grasping at the straws of something familiar and nostalgic, but with an underlying recognition that maybe this attraction isn't genuine, and maybe even born out of some deep-seated need for companionship whether they choose to acknowledge it or not (unhealthy co-dependency yay)

So, in short, kinda angsty, kinda messy, and kinda depressing (but with an eventual happy or bittersweet resolution! Half the fun is watching them slowly make some realizations about themselves, but it'll be a turbulent, bloody, and ugly journey to get to that point)
