In the book, Anathema had a "thermos that had contained hot Bovril" (on her trip - before the bicycle accident). The book is set in the 90s. Anathema is a relatively cool and modern young woman (I think?), and she has miso soup in another part of the book (which was kind of trendy and cool in the 90s, imo - or at least something slightly foreign and health-food-y).

So, what I know of Bovril is that it's a British drink, kind of like broth or soup. What I know of it comes from Top Gear, where two of the guys are laughing at the third for liking Bovril, like it's something old fashioned and a bit silly. The impression I got was this is something maybe your grandparents would like. That episode (snowbine harvester) originally aired in 2011. So it's not the 90s, but it's not long enough for food attitudes to have changed hugely, right?

So, what is the British public's relationship with Bovril in the 90s? Is that a normal thing a girl on an adventure would take with her on a chilly night? (Maybe it's even a plot point I missed or forgot about, like Agnes or another ancestor decided she was supposed to take a hot drink with her and obviously that was the best one. I could've forgotten that, or missed it.)

Or maybe she just likes all sorts of soup (and / or soup-like substances)? Or it's a health food? Or something most people would take on a long hike, or something else I haven't thought of. Replies welcome...

Maybe I’m just too sensitive to people using Palestinian culture for their own means (or just straight up stealing it) but I do get kinda annoyed when I see artists doing “biblically accurate” depictions of figures from Christianity and clearly using modern Palestinian clothing for it and not mentioning it anywhere. For example a thobe malak isn’t “bible clothing” and not mentioning your references anywhere contributes to the erasure of Palestinian culture. One of the aims of Zionist propaganda is the complete removal of Palestinians from both Palestine and our own cultural and historical narrative. Like sure man, you can use Palestinian clothing for your artwork, but at least say what you are referencing. Stop cutting Palestinians out of the picture because you don’t want to add another sentence to the description

God I love Wrex. He's genuinely so insightful. Whenever I took him with me he's nearly ALWAYS the one who knew before it was obvious that we were heading into an ambush or that something wasn't quite right. When we met Vigil Wrex was the one who said as we headed down that he didn't think what was happening was Sarens doing. He says he knew Saren wasn't a good guy when he met him prior to the events of the game and he met him once for a few minutes. He speaks about only being good for fighting; but he was genuinely trying to do something about the genophage before he had to leave his planet AND he still DEEPLY cares about trying to fix it now even if he tells you it's a lost cause because krogans are too focused on other things. He claims his species is best at war and not things like science but he's just!! So clever and he clearly KNOWS on some level that a lot of what the Krogan experience is is based on their subjection/treatment in the galaxy. He enjoys jobs where his opponent is smart and good at what they do; and he is smart enough to be crafty and manipulate individuals such as when he got an employer to pay him to be a guard even AFTER he failed to kill the guy he was sent after. He is grumpy, but he cares about Shepard and he cares about stopping Saren. He's cynical and not sure that things can change for the better but he's also got this little nugget of hope in him that comes out so strongly at times. I love him. Best alien. Smart little guy. Best friend.

I realized that the nasty pedo artist we're all talking about is Starchild, a certified Odalia stan. Her comics about Lumity's kid interaction with Odalia is disgusting. I came across a comic in which the kid walk in the room when Odalia is doing NSFW things with Alador and her new husband. Odalia is depicted in the comic like a goddess, everyone respects and idealizes her. Of course, Amity is depicted as the bad guy, when even Emira and Edric turn on their back on her for Odalia. Starchild is a pedo, abuser apologist and transphobic (there's a comic Odalia telling Masha that they shouldn't get upset when they get misgendered). She's active on Twitter and Instagram. Homophobia/Transphobia doesn't even exist in the Boiling Isles. You already mischaracterized literally everyone so they idolize your bland waifu you project onto. But then also make that character you self-insert onto reflect your own transphobia.

And again, I understand having a villain do a bad thing to show they're bad. But you are idolizing her, you are painting transphobia/pedophilia in a positive light. You're okay with sexualizing a teenager but draw a line at the teenager being nonbinary.

And I don't want to hear "Liking a villain doesn't make you an abuser apologist" because they ARE blaming the child victim, they ARE echoing what real abusers, and in this case transphobes, say.

Even when it's a fictional trans person/abuse victim you can't respect them, even in a fictional setting you demand the right to be transphobic.

I can't stand these types of "fans". They're not fans, they're against all the themes of the show, all the inclusivity of it, and hate that the characters who reflect their actions are the bad guys.
