Putting Nero in a Situation™️

It was just supposed to be a quick recon mission— in and out. That’s all.

An SOS distress beacon from a neighboring spaceship had been picked up on The Wishbone’s radar and the INTERPLAN vessel had the terrible misfortune of being the closest to respond (being only a single warp-jump away).

Under intergalactic law (and customary social peer-pressure), all ships anywhere at the cosmos were obliged to provide assistance to those lost in the beyond. <-Lest they be ridiculed.

But perhaps … second thoughts were in order, as Nero found himself onboard the other vessel after losing a round of rock-paper-scissors.

The stretch of corridor was barely illuminated. Power had long since gone out even before INTERPLAN had arrived, which left the ship’s back-up generator to keep this hunk of metal afloat and barely operational.

Yet not a single soul was found on board.

All that could be heard was the hum of dimmed fluorescent lights from above and the echoed footfall of Nero’s own boots.

That is, until there was a scream from further down the corridor. Shrill. Panicked. Then: a cry for help.

Someone, or perhaps 🧬something, was on this ship after all.

Shit. Nero hated being ridiculed more than usual. And he also hated being sent out on dangerous assignments without anyone else there.

The away teams would take their sweet time getting over here. No one was answering the comms channels back aboard the Wishbone. Probably taking their sweet time warming up the telepads or prepping the engines on a shuttle. He produced his particle pistol, and started marching towards the sound of the disturbance, every footfall heavier than usual. He felt like he had the maneuverability of a Sherman tank, like from the historical archives of old school papers.

With his left hand, he slapped a button to open a sliding door. His right hand pointing the blaster pointed ahead at whatever caused the crew member to scream. Nero looked a little more harrowed than he'd have liked. A light clipped to his green field jacket, with the INTERPLAN logo patch over his left sleeve for identification, the right side bearing a patch from some defunct Terran commando unit.

This is a very interesting question!

I only really have an answer for Yamato, unfortunately. Yamato comes across to me as very protective and loyal. I think it would probably stick close to Vergil's (or Nero's depending on when it takes place) side, gentle but also very duty-oriented. Though I think if only around the one it deems it needs to protect (or around both Vergil and Nero) it would be much more relaxed.

One thing I need to let go of in 2024 is the instinct to go to the scarcity mindset. I have a solid group of friends, people like having me around, I'm not worried about that. But every time I fail a talking stage, I can fall into the temptation of feeling like I've wasted my one (1) chance to find someone, which,, no! I am simply a little weird around guys I may be considering in a romantic sense and that's it! Nothing you can't grow and learn from! Or maybe they weren't meant to be and that's also okay!

Like, this year, I really wanna condition my brain to not fall into the trap of this kind of thinking. And yeah, there are worse things than this, but like, it's something I need to work on in regards to my personal life. And it feels nice to say it somewhere

very basic explanation: Shuya, the youngest child, was killed during a mission Sanemi was leading & Kyogo was very disrespectful and dismissive about it bc he doesnt see them as anything other than fodder. Sanemi, overcome with the grief of his latest sibling's death and the years of abuse, lost his shit and lunged at him with intent to kill.

His arm went through Kyogo's chest and together they went through the window, Kyogo briefly fought back and Sanemi used a wind jutsu to utterly shred the inside of his chest cavity. He sits back and processes what just happened and realizes that the pain and grief hasn't gone away.

Shizu finally gets to him- Genya close behind though I didn't show it -and he breaks down over the fact he just killed so brutally so easily. He's become a monster just like Kyogo shaped him to be. Shizu calls for some water & washes the blood off, then gets the bone fragments out and heals him.

Rest of the clan's freaking the hell out bc He Just Snapped We're Next Oh Fuck Oh Fuck, no one knows what to do abt Kyogo bleeding out, but hes just Sitting There, Crying

In my mind, Sunny having to work as vice-principal Nero’s secretary is the reason her [English] vocab improves so much in the Austere Academy.
