TEMPLE NEWS: Church Announces Plans For Reopening Temples
The First Presidency has announced plans for phased reopening of temples worldwide. Pursuant to the lifting of local health and government restrictions, the temples will reopen in the following manner :
Phase 1: Living husband-and-wife sealings by appointment
Perform living sealings only for previously endowed members under strict guidelines and safety precautions
Phase 2: Open for all living ordinances only
Perform all temple ordinances for living individuals
Maintain closure of patron housing, clothing, and cafeteria operations
Phase 3: Open for all ordinances with restrictions
Continue providing ordinances for living individuals
Provide proxy ordinances for ancestors in a restricted manner
Open patron housing, clothing, and cafeteria operations as needed
Phase 4: Open for full operations
Resume regular temple operations
The following 17 temples will begin Phase 1 starting Monday, 11 May 2020:

Additional temples will begin their phased reopening as local circumstances permit. The Church began closing temples or adjusting ordinance work due to the COVID-19 pandemic in February 2020, with all temples worldwide closing as of 25 March 2020. During his closing remarks at the April 2020 General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson counseled members of the Church to prepare for the day when the temples would reopen. “Brothers and sisters, during times of our distress when temples are closed, you can still draw upon the power of your temple covenants and endowment as you honor your covenants. Please use this time when temples are closed to continue to live a temple-worthy life or to become temple worthy.”

Salt Lake City is Utah's capital city and largest, with approximately 200,000 residents. (The Salt Lake Metro Area has more than a million). It is situated in the Salt Lake Valley. This city serves as the heart of the Wasatch front urban corridor. It is situated between the Wasatch Mountains to the East, which are considered to be part of the Western Rocky Mountains and the Oquirrh Mountains. The Great Salt Lake is located northwest of the city.
Salt Lake City is well-known for its role as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' central hub, although less than half of the city residents are members. The city is well-known for being a hub of outdoor recreation, with many nearby ski resorts which were highlighted by the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Salt Lake City, Utah's capital, is a young, dynamic city. The city has many natural, historic, religious, and cultural attractions. Many of the city's top attractions focus on this aspect. But hosting the Olympic Winter Games brought a new energy to the city and made it a destination for international visitors. There are many things to do in Salt Lake City, including shopping and great dining.
1. Mormon Tabernacle
The tabernacle is an oval-shaped building that sits on 44 sandstone posts. The tabernacle's elegant interior is known for its excellent acoustics. It can seat over 6,500 people. The day includes a free tour and an example of the acoustics. If you are fortunate, you might be able attend a recital or performance for free.
2. This is the Place Heritage Park
Brigham Young exclaimed, "This place!" after seeing the valley of his visions from Emigration Canyon, following the Mormons' 1,300-mile trek. This park is a great place for family outings and it's only 15 minutes from Salt Lake City.
3. Joseph Smith Memorial Building
The Joseph Smith Memorial Building is a major building in Temple Square. Constructed as the Hotel Utah in 1911, it was later renamed after the first president the Mormon Church.
4. Liberty Park
Liberty Park is Salt Lake City’s largest public park. It covers over 80 acres. There are many recreational activities available. This green space is a peaceful retreat for nature with mature trees. Residents often visit this park in summer to enjoy a picnic or relaxation under the shaded canopy of leaves.
5. Hogle Zoo
Salt Lake City's Hogle Zoo offers a family-friendly option. It's located in the eastern suburbs of Salt Lake City and is easy to access from downtown. It is home to over 800 animals, spread over 42 acres.

South Jordan Utah Foreclosure Lawyer
South Jordan is a city in south central Salt Lake County, Utah, 18 miles (29 km) south of Salt Lake City. Part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, the city lies in the Salt Lake Valley along the banks of the Jordan River between the 9,000-foot (2,700 m) Oquirrh Mountains and the 12,000-foot (3,700 m) Wasatch Mountains. The city has 3.5 miles (5.6 km) of the Jordan River Parkway that contains fishing ponds, trails, parks, and natural habitats. The Salt Lake County fair grounds and equestrian park, 67-acre (27 ha) Oquirrh Lake, and 27 parks are located inside the city. as of 2018, there were 74,149 people in South Jordan. Founded in 1859 by Mormon settlers and historically an agrarian town, South Jordan has become a rapidly growing bedroom community of Salt Lake City. Kennecott Land, a land development company, has recently begun construction on the master-planned Daybreak Community for the entire western half of South Jordan, potentially doubling South Jordan’s population. South Jordan is the first city in the world with two temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jordan River Utah Temple and Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple. The city has two TRAX light rail stops, as well as one commuter rail stop on the FrontRunner.

South Jordan is also a growing tech hub with headquarters of companies like IT software company Ivanti. For the year 2010, the city had 27 violent crimes reported to law enforcement, and 1,050 reports of property crimes. The violent crime rate was 48 per 100,000 people compared to a national average of 404 and 213 for Utah. The property crime rate was 1,858 per 100,000 compared to a national rate of 2,942 and 3,180 for the State. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) defines violent offenses to include forcible rape, robbery, murder, non-negligent manslaughter, and aggravated assault. Property crimes are defined to include arson, motor vehicle theft, larceny, and burglary. Statistics published by the Utah Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Criminal Identification showed a steady trend in the South Jordan crime rate between 2000 and 2008. The rate for index crimes, a group comprising the combined violent offenses and property crimes stated above was 2,269 per 100,000 in 2000 and 2,277 per 100,000 in 2008. The 2008 rate for index crimes in Salt Lake County was 5,290 per 100,000 and 3,529 per 100,000 for the entire State of Utah. In 2010, South Jordan had a total of 57 total law enforcement employees for a rate of 1.13 employees per 1,000 residents. City police officers made a total of 910 arrests. Total crimes reported were 3,810. Total crimes contain 22 categories that include everything from murder, rape and assault to drug offenses, larceny and prostitution.

No longer rural and remote, South Jordan is home to some of the Salt Lake Valley’s most innovative residential and retail developments, such as Daybreak and The District. South Jordan is home to more than 50,000 residents, with plenty of access to parks, trails and open space.

The offer a buyer makes for a foreclosed home should depend on the condition of the property. If the property needs major repair, a buyer may want to adjust their bid to factor in post-purchase expenses. On the other hand, a buyer is not allowed to make any misrepresentations regarding the property during the sales negotiation process. Doing so may result in a contract violation and can lead to legal liability.
What Happens If I Purchased Property with Tenants Living in It?
Prior to 2009, tenants living in a foreclosed property lost their leases. According to the Helping Families Save their Homes Act of 2009, leases continue during and after the foreclosure. For people on a month-to-month tenancy, they will have to leave after receiving a 90-day notice or whatever the applicable state law requires.
What Does Statutory Redemption Mean?
Statutory redemption refers to a property owner’s right, as given to them by a state statute, to regain the property after the property has been foreclosed on. Statutory redemption laws often outline a specific amount of time in which the previous owner can pay the money owed to redeem property. The money owed is the amount the property was sold for at a foreclosure auction. Although the specific time frame varies from state to state, the owner usually has a year to redeem the property.

It is very unlikely that you will need help from a lawyer to buy a foreclosed property. Typically, foreclosed properties are sold as/are, which means that the buyer will have little recourse if they discover that the property will need more work than they first imagined. However, if the seller made material misrepresentations, then there is a chance that the buyer will have a chance to recover their losses. However, material misrepresentations are like if the seller didn’t have the right to sell the property and went through serious efforts to hide that from the buyer. If you find yourself in this situation, then it will be in your best interest to contact a real estate lawyer. But keep in mind that a lawyer can only help in these types of situations, and it’s important that you have the documents to prove the circumstances.

The Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple and the Jordan River Utah Temple are the first pair of temples to be built in the same city. The new temple was needed because of tremendous attendance at the Jordan River Temple, which at its peak served 110 stakes and required over 4500 ordinance workers. The Oquirrh Mountain Temple was originally to be named the South Jordan Utah Temple, but the name was changed to avoid confusion with the Jordan River Temple. The murals in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple ordinance rooms were painted by artists called to serve as “art missionaries” by the Church. The Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple was dedicated on President Thomas S. Monson’s 82nd birthday, and the audience at the cornerstone ceremony spontaneously sung a birthday song for him.

Foreclosure law provides the means for a mortgage lender to take possession and sell a home when the borrower has defaulted on the loan. The money from the sale is used to pay off the balance of the loan, and the new buyer takes the home free of the mortgage. New top story from Time: How Mormon Missionaries Are Proselytizing in the Wake of a Pandemic
(BRIGHAM CITY, Utah) — Wearing dress shirts, ties and name tags, three missionaries with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sit around the kitchen table inside a Utah apartment planning how they’ll spread their gospel that day.
Seth Rather, a 19-year-old from Wichita, Kansas, reads aloud as he types on a smartphone: “During this time, we must put our faith in God to deliver us through these unprecedented times. How has putting your faith in God helped you in your life?
“That good?” he asks his two companions.
“I like it,” Andrew Zitting responds. Guenter Castrillo nods.
With that, the young men have their Facebook post for the day.
This is what missionary work looks like during the coronavirus pandemic, which has forced the Utah-based faith widely known as the Mormon church to accelerate its online outreach.

After hastily bringing home more than 26,000 young people from overseas missions aimed at recruiting new members, the church has begun sending many of them out again in their home countries with a new focus on online work that may persist even after the pandemic, officials told The Associated Press.

“The leaders of our church have been asking us: What are we learning from this pandemic that will help us become better, become more efficient,” said Brent H. Nielson, executive director of the church’s missionary department. “We’ve learned that finding people, teaching people online is much more effective than trying to meet people in person on a bus or on a street corner or somewhere else. This will change what we do, I think, forever.”
Missionary work has changed drastically for young people like Rather and Castrillo, who had spent long days walking through the streets in the Philippines to spread the word of their faith before the pandemic hit. Now, they hardly leave a ground-level apartment in the small town of Brigham City in northern Utah.
After sending the Facebook post recently, they knelt for a prayer and then dialed in to a Zoom call with a family. A similar scene is playing out worldwide as reassigned missionaries navigate new realities.
In Orlando, Florida, Bella McCain and Madison King hold a WhatsApp video call with a family they have been teaching church doctrine. They invite the family to take the sacrament for the first time and follow up on an earlier proposal: forgo coffee, a key part of the faith’s health code, which also bans alcohol and tobacco.
The husband and wife had different outcomes: She says she found it difficult but would like to work on it. He says he’d given it up.
On Facebook, McCain and King craft a message in Portuguese, the language they learned for their original assignments in Brazil. They also text people asking to set up a call to talk about the church.
It’s a far cry from just months ago. In Brazil, McCain had one of those “little brick phones” and largely spoke to people face to face.
“Sometimes we feel like pioneers,” said McCain, a 19-year-old from Texas. “We’re not used to using social media in this way and, like, I never made videos and posted them online before. … We’re all learning, and it’s really interesting and really fun.”

The church began incorporating online faith outreach when it gave some missionaries tablets six years ago. It’s since made technology more prevalent, giving most missionaries smartphones even before the pandemic, Nielson said.
A more online-based approach would be a major shift and could diminish the appeal for some young church members who crave an enriching cultural experience, said Ryan Cragun, a sociology professor at the University of Tampa who specializes in religion and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The time in the community also breaks up the drudgery of being alone with a fellow missionary, said Cragun, a former church member who served a mission in Costa Rica.
“There’s this quasi-tourist experience of going to these cool places, but there is also the connection you get to the people,” Cragun said. “That’s probably one of the more meaningful things that happens to them.”
McCain said she sees an opportunity to use online tools to reach more people. Still, “we would love to go and be able to teach in people’s houses.” She and King went to the home of the family they have been teaching to share the sacrament, while social distancing.
“Finding and teaching people online is really effective,” Nielson said, “but we also think there’s a personal touch, too, of meeting people” and having them come to church when things open up more.
The virus forced church officials to scramble for flights to get missionaries home from far-flung countries like Ethiopia, Australia and Vietnam. But Nielson said the church never wavered in keeping the missionary program going.
It shows the importance the church places on sharing its gospel and giving young people the chance to fulfill an important rite of passage.
About 5,000 missionaries who were brought home have been sent out again in the United States. Thousands more are heading out soon. The church gave them the option to wait a year, but the large majority chose to start again now, Nielson said.
Missions, which last two years for men and 18 months for women, are as much about locking in young church members for life as converting others, Cragun said. The average number of people converted per missionary has risen slightly in the last three years, to 3.7, but is still less than the average of five in the previous decade, church figures show.
Nielson said the pandemic has made people hungry for the missionaries’ message of hope.
“There’s never been a time when more people have wanted to know about religion than there is now,” Nielson said. “People searching for peace. People searching for answers. People searching for someone to talk to. It’s been an incredible thing.”
