all modern AU farcille fanart I've seen so far has neglected to consider that human falin without her ch97 feathers WOULD HAVE GLASSES. that girl can NOT see until she's turned part dragon and back, she is CONSTANTLY SQUINTING, in a modern setting her still fully human ass would have OPEN EYES thanks to contacts, glasses, or lasik or something

I know glasses exist in canon too but they're clearly not ubiquitous, also by the time the gang is so rich and powerful she could reasonably get them bc they've got a dungeon king in their midst, it's no longer necessary anyway bc falin's eyes accidentally got fixed with the dragon treatment

Max had to awkwardly pet him like um schat that was three years ago, I'm fine, meanwhile Charles is there sobbing, like what do you mean you couldn't see, I almost lost you and Max is like bitch did you didn't even like me back then and Charles is like that is so not the point, Leo and Roscoe are not going to be friends, still crying, Max still petting going like.. what?

Darlin’s needed glasses their whole life—and just didn’t know. As a kid they were fussy during their eye exams and somehow managed to slip through them without getting a prescription. So they’ve always just thought everyone’s vision was just a teeeny bit blurry.

Adjusting to glasses was a completely new and bizarre experience for them. Suddenly everything’s just CLEARER?? Darlin’s precision is so much better?? They hadn’t realized how fucked up their vision was until they’d actually seen (haha) the difference. It was like wiping the fog out of a mirror.

Darlin mostly uses contacts now—but at home it’s more convenient to just use the glasses. There’s a handful of times where they’ll mix up their own glasses with Sam’s reading ones. The prescription difference between them and Sam is very noticeable.

Sanji during Water 7 and Enies Lobby :

"Who the hell are you?"

I firmly stand by the point that the strawhats would fall apart and Robin would be taken if sanji (and zoro) were not present during water 7 and Enies lobby. These are some of the things i loved the most about sanji during Water7 and Enies Lobby arcs :

(1) Protecting the captain AND the crew : When Luffy and usopp were fighting over merry, at one point sanji instantly kicks Luffy to shut him up.

His empathy, protectiveness and foresight really shines here. He knew that Luffy wouldnt be able to forgive himself if he kicked Usopp out, but at the heat of the moment he was about to do just that. So he protected Luffy and became the voice of reason in Luffy's incredibly vulnerable moment.

At the same time, sanji showed empathy towards Usopp by standing up for him. During this fight, Usopp was physically and mentally weak, and seeing that at least one of his crewmates stopped the captain actually helped usopp feel like less alienated in the crew. This way Sanji became the (violent) rock for both Luffy and usopp in that moment.

(2) Trust : Some people make fun of this panel but all the Strawhats were deeply CONFUSED with Robin's participation in iceburg's assassination (which is normal cz she hadnt been with them for long and she was an enemy before joining the crew). But sanji could tell that she was lying and he trusted his crewmate (NOT BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN). Sanji never doubted Robin's intentions for even a moment and he was fully prepared to go save her (not question or clarify with her like the others wanted to) from the very first moment.

(3) Bravery :

Robin was scared out of her skull during this arc even though she was putting up a tough front at first. But sanji understood her desperation and the urgency of the situation. And like a dumbass, he got on the train ON HIS OWN after leaving a message to nami. Franky and usopp being there was his dumb luck but he would've been dead with the choice he made in water 7.

(4) Chivalry : It can't be a sanji admiration post without mentioning his endless chivalry. People may call him a pervert (which he is). But he actually respects women and he stood firm on his morals even in the face of death. This is a real Prince like man he didn't counter-attack kalifa even though she broke his teeth, turned him into a block of soap and pushed him from a high floor.

(4) in a crisis situation sanji showed Usopp that he believed in his capabilities, not with sympathy but with logic. Even in the face of danger he was sharp in the mind and empathetic towards his friend. This eventually led to Usopp actually succeeding to snipe the keys to robin and franky on the bridge of hesitation and that move is what saved Robin from being dragged to the gates of justice.

We can see how Sanji's words encouraged Usopp and propelled him into action.

(5) Intelligence :

While on the train, sanji devised a plan to rescue Robin before reaching Enies Lobby.

At enies lobby when they were up against the the Government's elite assassinators, Sanji came up with the plan to collect the keys and save Robin.

The strawhats would be deadmeats if sanji didnt sneak out mid fight to close the gates of justice. The whirlpool is what let the strawhats escape. So, Sanji's foresight and intelligence is what finally saved his crew from a national level buster call.

(6) Emotional Intelligence :

Sanji quietly kept tabs on Usopp from time to time the entire period he was out of the crew. Let's all acknowledge Usopp would've probably died in that Aqua Laguna if sanji (and chopper) didn't go warn him about it. And he was very considerate in the way he didn't do it directly to not hurt usopp's pride.

Moreover in the water 7 filler arc we can see how sanji was still keeping an eye on Usopp and that he was planning to return to the crew. He didn't cut off his friend just because the crew was going through a rough phase.

(Someone joked how Usopp probably had to be put on suicide watch during water 7 and i was like THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT SANJI HAD BEEN DOING THE ENTIRE TIME THANKS FOR NOTICING )

anyways long story short I’m getting glasses!

I can’t wait until someone refers to a mushroom as a plant so I can go “uhm akshewally…” and push my glasses up with a finger before launching into a fourth minute speech about fungi. finally, I will be a true nerd! No one is safe! Mwahahaha!

Also, if you noticed, MC's eyes have taken on the colour/pattern of the anomaly which is in my mind half the reason they keep their eyes covered at all times. I mean 1, the flowers are a tad unsettling but also - what if their eyes are already starting to have anomalous effects? Will they ever be able to look someone in the eyes ever again? It's not like they can get help for this - anyone who tries may be cursed. Best to handle it alone. Keep it hidden. Suffer in silence.

My pupils are fucking huge and always dilated to the point ive been told by multiple doctors I have the biggest pupils they’ve ever seen and I’ve had moments where they bring in their medical trainees to use me as an example because whatever the fuck they need to learn is easy to see on me. I can’t help that I always look like I’m in love. Or on drugs

Nothing like having a bad eye to jam up your Saturday.

About a year and a half ago I had very sudden retinal laser eye surgery to fix a tear in my right retina that hadn't caused a detachment yet. I was very lucky. I had been seeing a round dot in my peripheral vision on and off.

After a disappointing appointment with my then eye doctor, I got an appointment at my prior optometrist's office. That doctor referred me to a retinal specialist and he fixed me up. He also told me if I ever saw new floaters or flashers, to let him know immediately.

Yesterday was Juneteenth observed for my job so I was out running errands in the morning. I noticed black spots in my peripheral vision up near the top of my right eye. They were not going away and I had a mini freak out in a grocery store parking lot.

I got it together, continued on to my last errand and called the retinal specialist's office. They let my doctor know and he set me up for a Saturday appointment at another office.

As the day progressed, I started seeing flashing light in my right peripheral vision, too. Didn't matter if the eye was open or closed

My vitreous gel in that eye has pulled away a bit from my retina and there is a small dot of blood back there. No new retinal tear or retinal detachment, but I have a follow up in 2 weeks to make sure things haven't gotten worse. Apparently the vitreous gel detachment thing is just due to aging.

Sigh.

I'm okay for now. Wondering how much longer until I get full on retinal detachment as I age.

Ever think about how, Eli Shane, a 15-16 year old, probably hasn't been to any doctor in like a year?

Like, think about it Eli hasn't been to a doctor since he took the Drop.

So, eventually, the Gang just drag him to several doctors because;

"Eli Shane, you've been blasted into several walls. YOUR GOING TO GET YOUR FLOPPING SPINE CHECKED"

So, they take him and-

First, it's a miracle Eli is able to stand because boy, your bones should not have that many cracks- get this kid in splints and strap him down to a bed for like three months.

Second, eye doctor, and Eli Shane needs glasses thanks to all the dust he's rolling around in while slug slinging.

He gets set up with actual glasses for the time being as contacts get processed for him, so until the contact lenses get delivered Eli Shane gets to look even more like a nerd with his blue glasses

And finally, the dentist

Boy not only gets all his wisdom teeth pulled, but also has to get braces.

And by the time they get home to the Hideout Eli is very upset because everything he ever feared about being a teenager has come true(thank you Surface society and your standards)

So while sitting on the couch, all grumpy in his hoodie and sweatpants, sucking soup through a straw because he can't eat solid food for a few days thanks to getting his wisdom teeth pulled, Trixie snaps a photo and posts it to the SlugNet.
