it remains extremely funny to me that freddie wong accidentally (?) made Dan Fucks, embodiment of pleasure, so distinctly ace-coded. like, Dan talks a big game about sex and seems to view it as interesting and desirable, but when presented with such an obvious in for it he completely ignored Avaricci's come-ons to just talk about non-sexual pleasures like goddamn cold pillows. he's not paying attention to sex at all when it's not personally convenient or expected of him to do so.

ANYWAY final thing on this. there are no magic bullets with writing — you can’t buy a device then suddenly be writing consistently with no difficulties — but i do think it’s helpful to have something you’re comfortable with which you can pull out and begin immediately writing on & which you can use on the go. it can be an alpha or a phone with a keyboard or a paper notebook but you’re kind of fucking yourself over if you have nothing.
#notebook & pen loop is a nice combo btw#i think the max time it should take you to get from not writing to writing is 3 seconds. tbh.#my personal setup is ipad - notebook - alpha#i used to have a laptop but the startup time was too long and it’s incredibly difficult to use in transit#unsolicited advice: if its an option. do invest in something that works for you#notebook & paper is ofc the cheapest option but its not going to help you if you hate it u know

there's something to be said about this trend of doing prelim hip screening on very young dogs and freaking out when they look kinda meh
there's a whole bunch of other somethings to be said about vets apparently bringing up FHO as an option based on those prelims??
#i feel like my brain might leak out of my ears sometimes#and i am not a medical professional. not even a medical amateur#but even in my own private life ive seen (frankly kinda poorly done) hip xrays and hear that the vet that took them#held up surgery as an option for hips that were just mild to mild-moderate#idk if its got to do with more people screening and more professionals getting close to areas of the field theyre less experienced with#or what#but i#feel like i see more of it now than just a few years ago#imho prelims in general have limited value? if you're considering sinking thousands of dollars in importing a puppy for breeding#you may wanna rule out hips looking severe at baby ages#but if youre a regular person invested in the health of your individual dog - HD has such variability in expression#and prelims are just a general prediction (unless its getting old enough to soon get proper ones anyway OR you're looking at symptoms)#a great prelim prob wont turn awful and a terrible prelim wont turn great#but if your puppy is acting normal theres really nothing that xray will tell you that should much affect how you raise it#and a LOT of the ppl i see doing them now seem either mostly impatient or mostly looking for a reason to freak out#in case hips turn out looking TERRIBLE (mediocre) and HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN (because OFA fair is often FCI mild and also its chance)

i miss carpisuns sometimes </3
#not necessarily that I regret switching over but i just get like nostalgic for an earlier time in the ml fandom#s3 was soooo much fun for me#and the long hiatus before s4 was also the best. so good wasn’t ready for it to end when it did haha#things just feel so different in the fandom now#both the fandom has changed and I have changed#and of course the STORY has changed#and I like don’t know what to do about that or how to react#cause I am used to being one of the guys who is defending ml’s honor with my life lol#committed to spreading positivity#and I still want to be that guy!#but it’s like. idk. I don’t recognize this story anymore#this isn’t the same story that I fell in love with years ago. but I don’t want to just like Leave??#I do want to see how things play out bc I am still invested in these characters#and I would love to still be part of the fan community and connect with people over a mutual love for this thing#that has been important to me for years and has inspired me to create and learn new skills and make new friends!#but I also don’t just want to shut up and pretend I’m happy about things I am decidedly unhappy about lol#like it’s honestly surprising to me that a only a small minority of the fandom seems to feel the way I do?#and the majority are still super pumped and frustrated at the people who are complaining#and really. i think when cherik fuck charles just has to control himself so much that he reaches the point where he gets almost no pleasure because of the efforts and erik just doesn't see that for a long time bc charles is very good at simulating whatever it is so they fuck and erik is happy and cherles is close to tears every time because yeah he had sex but he spent all time of it struggling to remain control of his abilities and he didn't have orgasm and he just doesn't know what to do because he's afraid to tell erik and he's afraid to stop doing that because he thinks he'd project his thoughts and feeling all over the mansion and he's afraid to go on the way he does because it's exhausting and kinda awful

Definitely don't knock your device's accessibility options. I was looking through my phone's accessibility settings last night, and wow, it feels like technology has really advanced since I first got a smartphone.
I've even found a setting that raises certain sounds I apparently have trouble hearing, and it feels like I'm experiencing the music I love with a completely different perspective. It's honestly wild because my first smartphone had like... mono audio, and that was as close as you could get to accessibility
#disability#disability advice#like i'm not HoH as far as i know but i do have some differences with hearing#honestly my biggest issue is. i can barely differentiate where sound is coming from. i usually guess when i can't see a sound's origin lmao#which i don't think disables me but it is harder when i'm driving i've found#there have been a few times where i HEAR an ambulance but i have no clue where it's coming from. like none.#and like... you don't even have to be disabled to use those features on *your* device...#...it's just that for many disabled people they will be heavily invested in making their things accessible#so while i'm not unable to use my phone if that hearing booster wasn't in use it still enhances my experience 👍#also live transcription???? that would NEVER have been an option with my first phone#i feel OLD (ish)

#random personal stuff#back on my soapbox feel free to ignore#okay I'm about to get controversial sorry#but after today's sermon I'm a bit baffled by a double standard#in which women are told not to let work get in the way of prioritizing family#but men are told to work MORE in order to prioritize family#which is it?#I'm not saying that there isn't ANY truth in either of those statements#but the emphasis of this construction seems to assume that children need fathers primarily as people who make money#I'm NOT saying that there's a problem with a dad who works and a mom who stays at home (that's a good option)#I'm NOT saying that there's a problem with dads who have to take on extra work to get by (that's a self-sacrificial thing)#what I'm saying is that when a career is portrayed as the ideal focus of a father & only the mother's bond with the children is encouraged#then what you are liable to get are children who have little to no meaningful relationship with their father#supporting your family is good! but children need a present father just as much as they need a present mother#I'm speaking from experience here#I love my dad and get along fine with him - he's a good person!#but he was frequently physically and emotionally absent from my life when I was a child#and I still struggle to connect with him#it's an extremely different relationship from what I have with my mom - who WAS there my entire childhood#tl;dr I wish the kinds of churches I've observed would a) stop inadvertently promoting fathers' workaholism#and b) encourage both parents to invest in their families in the best ways that they can
