Maisie shouldn’t have been here. She was so close to freedom when she had been caught again and her cousin had thrown her into these cells. She knew the only reason she was alive was because of her position as the youngest daughter of the last king but Maisie never could have thought that would mean that someone that she had trusted to get her out of here would sell her out. Hearing someone else come down and say her name she saw another man and Maisie could only roll her eyes as she heard him tell the guards to go away. “I’m not going to open up to you and tell you everything. The last person I trusted is the reason I’m in here.”

open to : older male, possibly supernatural ( @indiestarter ) muse : elysabeth of arzallum (25, she/her, bisexual, princess) plot : historical or fantasy/supernatural verse. lysa has been married off to stop your muse from terrorizing/fighting with her father's kingdom. she did not want to be married but that's the life of a second-born princess whose father cares nothing about her. they have been married for a few days but immediately after the wedding, your muse took them back to his kingdom/realm and now that they have arrived, this is technically their "wedding night". have some fun with it.

lysa wondered who should have prepared her for her wedding night. her mother had been dead for many years. would her older sister have done it before their wedding night if they had stayed at home? no, she wasn't even married. one of her ladies perhaps? they weren't married either but they tended to know things. they hadn't come with her though so there was nobody. lysa stood in the large bedroom, waiting for her new husband, wearing nothing but the slip she had worn under her gown. the room was cold and she shivered as she stood in the middle of it. the rug beneath her feet provided warmth for her bare feet at the very least. maybe she could start a fire? god, she didn't even know how to do that. what was taking him so long? she wondered, leaning against one of the posts of the four-poster bed and running a hand through her hair. lysa closed her eyes and took a deep breath, "pull yourself together, elysabeth," she muttered, trying to calm her fast-beating heart. how was it that the one thing she was told was her purpose in life was the thing she was least prepared for?

Perhaps she was being overly eager, balancing nearly twelve books in her arms while she busied herself searching for another to add to the collection. She hadn’t been to the bookstore in weeks and the newest stock of books was far too plentiful to only choose one. Or two. Or three. In truth, she would consider it a crime if she were to return home with any less than a dozen new volumes, so she didn’t intend to put any of the ones she’d drawn back. Her arms, however, were more than happy to relieve themselves of the weight and before she could shift her weight enough to catch her balance, the stack of books fell to the ground with an awful clatter. Discouraged but far from defeated, Pen knelt down to begin collecting her scattered cluster of tomes. As she reached for one of the heftier publications, all she could do was hope no one had seen her make such a cake of herself.

It had been bold enough of her to approach the other in the first place, but even more brash and daring to suggest such a preposterous idea. “I propose that we get married, that way both of us can be done with it and move on with our lives. My parents will get off my back about marriage and you can avoid the ravenous bunch of ladies vouching for your hand. We can figure out the... heir situation at a later date. What do you say?”
