In Arknights is it worth spending resources on the OP tokens or is it more of a waste?

Actual pulls? Operators are perfectly and completely usable off the box without any further Potentials. They help, but they don't need them. Now, here's the thing: Not all Potentials are made equal.

Take Ling, for example: Her Potentials are nice to have but ultimately just a drop in the bucket, and her Talent upgrade, again, nice, but not really worth smashing the piggy and missing rent, let alone gnawing at your future pulls pool. Ling at Potential 1 will just win you the game anyway.

But then you have the case of Fast Redeployment Operators. Their mounting DP costs mean that they very very directly buff, more so than other units, from getting those DP Cost -1s, you know?

On top of that, there's also Those Operators. You know, Those. Like Bagpipe, whose Talent upgrade is e-sports and allows for some goofy goober shit, such as instant Myrtle S1M3 on deployment, nigh-instant Texas S2M3 (not to mention the combo with Ash S2 this timing happens to allow) which completely change the way in which one can tackle the map from the get-go.

But, in general? Not really. I think the biggest reason in general that you should go for more Potentials is if you really like the Operator in question, and can afford to get away with it. It's why I have Kal'tsit and the Corrupting Heart at Pot 6, for instance: They don't really have a Bagpipe factor to them when it comes to Potentials, but also, I really like Kal'tsit and the Corrupting Heart. Having those bits of extra ATK from Potentials and her second Talent are nice with the Corrupting Heart, for instance, and it's nice to have a total cost of 28 for Kal'tsit + Mon3tr instead of 30, but it's not gamechanging, either.

It used to be that Potentials used to be very powerful in regards to getting high and Max Risk in older CCs, mainly due to DP cost reductions, funnily enough (though other factors WERE also important, such as Bagpipe's talent), but nowadays, with more Operator variety and gimmicks, Potentials help a lot but are not as ubiquitous as they used to be in the highest prestige clears.

Now, if you have the gold certs lying around and you really want a Pot of this 6* or that 5*... Hit it, to be honest, but actual pulls? I personally think you should save those for future acquisitions instead of pulling for Potentials if you'll be doing it only for gameplay reasons, yeah.

I don't want to pick a fight with the OP, but that post you reblogged about how "Tim is the most like Bruce" just highlights how bad the problem is with people taking explicit aspects of Cass' character, and assigning them to the boys in order to prop them up. The OP concluded "well maybe the can share being the most like Bruce", when you posted a literal actual panel of Tim saying "You are like Bruce. I'm not".

They then said, with regards to their earlier "Cass is actually more like Babs" statement, "I don't know much about canon Cass and Babs, only fanon". It's so frustrating to constantly see people who have never read a Cass comic mischaracterize her again and again in order to make the boys look better and more interesting. "Damian should actually be as good of a fighter as Cass" "Jason and Cass would respect each other" "Tim and Cass are equally like Bruce" they don't care! I'm so tired of people pretending to care about Cass for brownie points when they only mention her so they can make their male fav look better.

I think they're even aware of how bad it looks to constantly exclude Bruce's only (current canon) daughter, who is also Asian and disabled, from their overwhelmingly white and male cast of favorites, so they do this weird token effort to pretend they care about her in order to win progressive brownie points and it's just exhausting. It's so transparent. The batfam fandom is so disconnected from canon it produces this racist, watered down version of Cass, and because they never read the comics this is all they get exposed to, and they use that to create even more racist, watered down versions of her.

It's so frustrating. It's fine to not read a comic, it's fine to not care about a character, but if you haven't read her comics and you don't care about her character, stop posting about her and pretending to be any authority on the subject.

I didn’t win because of that one OP dragon planeswalker that can easily clear one side of the board under the right circumstances…

…BUT this was still a really good turn in which I used Mystic Reflection + Horn of Gondor to make over a dozen of a creature with P/T based on your number of creatures, and makes MORE creatures.

Arena actually glitched after all the end of turn tokens spawned, and my side looked clear even before the dragon ACTUALLY cleared it (which is why I only have this screenshot. I would’ve taken more.)

Ope I went to Kinokuniya again

This time they had more inventory - there was a table of Atlanta themed items (including Japanese copies of Gone with the Wind, published as five small paperback volumes, title is 風と共に去りぬ), display cases that were empty last time now held things (such as Weiss Kreuz cards, Pokemon cards, etc) and there were some new lighting features. I also went RIGHT after it opened, so it was much quieter than last time lol.

I got volume 6 of Skip and Loafer, a 2024 Hobonichi Techo planner (a coworker gave me this cool leather case thing for such a planner and showed me hers...I'm all for it, let's give it a go come January), some cute assorted stickers (those weren't there last time either) AND!! A Star Twinkle Precure artbook!!! It is also a Suite Precure and a Doki Doki Precure artbook because that same person did character design for those seasons, but! I was just thrilled to see this! Last time I found this same book but for the woman who did Kira Kira. There was also a Kamikita Twins Precure artbook, but I told myself "Only one! Just pick one of these!" and this one won out lol.

I also went to Challenges, a comic and games store that moved from one dying mall to another one lol. That sounds shadier than I mean it, but North DeKalb Mall is pretty much gone and Northlake Mall is trying to do something. Emory Healthcare turned much of it into office space and there are a few other stores left as well as 2 places to eat in the food court, but it ain't what it used to be. Challenges was nice! Lots of open space to play games together, a BUNCH of Gunpla stuff, comic books, Warhammer things and even gacha machines you can play by buying tokens (which may be a callback to Challenges' previous life as an arcade).

I got this little figurine of Miorine (I bought a Suletta one, though from a different company, last week at Japanfest, so I felt like she needed to have her wife with her lol), two Pokemon card packs and played the gacha to win this winking Pikachu keychain. Fun!!

OK now to not spend money for a while LOL I have bought many fun things lately

Ima start with the kid pirates cause that’s what I think about most of the time

KID PIRATES

UNO CARD GAME

- If playing Uno there can be certain versions they play. Like somehow they make it either a drinking game or a stripping game with certain rules. (Like drinking game with uno is playing a special card and then next person has to take a shot. Ex:Killer plays a skip on Eustass, Eustass has to take a shot. if someone plays a draw 4 that persons has to take two shots )

- killer always sits next to Eustass and will show no mercy on his Captain.

- Most of the time the crew almost gangs up on Eustass while playing Uno and anyone sitting next to him mostly tries to play special cards on him.

- Killer has the most wins among the crew with Heat in second. Eustass won only once XD

- Cause Eustass mostly is the last one playing and loses he ended up mostly drunk by the time too.

- They get pretty rowdy while playing

- Nobody as any problems calling each other a names for their betrayal lol

- Killer plays a skip card and skips Eustass’s turn. Eustass take a shot and calls Killer a Fucker XD

- Eustass doesn’t like to lose but by the end he’s pretty drunk and the next day he’ll mumble about it while keeping his head down cause of the hang over while Killer makes him something for the hang over

(I’m trying to think out how they would do strip uno cause uno can also be a long game in just one round if play correctly)

MONOPOLY

- they play with really money not fake( it more fun that way)

- Their monopoly board is different, it not like cities (like ex: boardwalk), it’s owning islands( 3 main versions of the board exist which one board is islands within the north, south,east and west blue, Paradise(grand line), and the New World. 4 other boards exist but are regional in terms of property like the North Blue version of the game is different than the South Blue version just like US board is different than the UK board ), community chests are treasure chests, jail is Impel down too (idk where to put things like the calm belt and what to change the utilities too cause that wouldn’t make sense and neither would the railroads) the money for the game is obviously one piece currency berries just a smaller version and colored differently too)

- Player pieces are different too. So we got a pirate ship, an open treasure chest with like coins in it, pirates hat, a sword , a parrot, a barrel , an Eternal pose, a devil fruit (that is random in each box.)

- They play Paradise version of Monopoly, but they eventually get a New world version of the game

- Eustass plays as the ship always cause he the captain

- Killer plays as the sword

- Heats plays as the treasure chest

- Wire switches his tokens every game but mostly plays as a parrot. He is also the banker when playing.

(I only know those 4 I’m sorry)

- they don’t get as rowdy during this game

CLUE GAME

- The clue board looks different too. There a version where the board is rooms on a pirate ship and the other version is a celestial dragon mansion.

- And the weapon pieces are somewhat different. The six pieces on the pirate ship are A sword, a Gun, rope, the Jolly Roger flag, a cast iron pan, spyglass (I had trouble coming up with 6 weapons lol)

- Okay so the victim is the Captain lol cause this is a Mutiny XD

- The suspects are the Vice Captain[yellow], chef[white], doctor[purple], navigator[green], shipwright[Blue], Helmsman[red] (I had to look that up lol also I’m not gonna give them name cause I can’t think of any sry)

- Eustass plays as the Helmsman cause that’s the person that steers the ship, since he can’t play as the captain cause the captains dead

- Killer plays sometimes has the vice caption or the chef

- Wire plays as the navigator

- Heats plays as the shipwright or the chef if killer the vice caption.

- Killer great at figuring out who the murder.

- Since the game is shorter than others they modify it with again a drinking game to make it more fun or they do Bets

- Once it’s made into a drinking game or they do bets they modify the rules

CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY

- They love playing this game. It’s most played on the ship. (It is stuff that pertains to their world stuff obviously)

- Eustass is really good at this one and mostly wins for being the most hilarious with Wire being close second

- Everyone is always laughing and gets so rowdy and loud (minus Killer pre wano arc )

- Sometimes drinking and bets are involved.

- Killer is never a judge

- Wire loves being the judge

They also have games like Scattergories, trivia game, scrabble, chess. Killer plays these with mostly heat and wire (and anyone that want to play) . Eustass doesn’t like those games and doesn’t play. He played once with Killer and never again. Killer tried teaching Eustass chess once and Eustass was so confused. He not good with trivia games either. They also have the board game Sorry but it’s not played often.

They also have play other cards games like obviously poker and u can play different games with a normal deck or cards but they also have the card game That what she said which is similar to cards against humanity. They also have the south blue edition of Monopoly.

I don’t care who wins the US presidential election

It was a choreographed scene starring the US president and First Lady that was meant to convey the restorative spirit of the festive season.

Last week, Joe and Jill Biden emerged from behind a black curtain like giddy celebrities and took their red seats before a large Christmas tree brimming with decorations and gifts at the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC.

Their excited audience included a gaggle of young patients and their parents anxious to see the commander-in-chief and his wife who would read aloud the popular poem, The Night Before Christmas.

“Thanks for letting us come to see you,” President Biden said.

Indeed, every First Lady beginning with Bess Truman – 75 years ago – has made the annual pilgrimage to the children’s hospital “to spread holiday cheer”. In 2022, Biden became the first sitting president to tag along.

A frail-looking but animated Biden winked, waved and smiled as the First Lady read from the picture book, holding it aloft.

When the First Lady finished, Biden thanked the hospital staff. “It’s special, special what you do.”

He had this parting advice: “Where there is life, there is hope.”

With that, Biden urged the children to return after they had recovered to offer support to other kids spending the holidays in hospital rather than at home.

A hospital official applauded the Bidens for “continuing this annual tradition…[that] brings so much joy to all the children, the families and our staff”.

“God bless you all,” Biden said.

Their performance lasted less than 10 minutes.

However brief, it was designed in part, I suppose, to burnish “Uncle Joe’s” credentials as a kind guy who is all too familiar with the worry, heartache and searing pain of caring for ill children or losing them to a sudden, violent act with awful consequences.

But watching the Bidens stage this perfunctory ritual – with television cameras in tow of course – only deepened my contempt for a decrepit president who considers the welfare and lives of some children more valuable than others.

Instead of using his powers and influence to try to stop the maiming and killing of thousands of Palestinian children, Biden has, in odious effect, encouraged the maiming and killing of thousands of Palestinian children.

In occupied Palestine, Biden is not a harbinger of “joy”, but the co-architect of the dystopian carnage engulfing a shattered people and their shattered land.

This complicit president, who is fulsome party to a systematic campaign to snuff out life and hope in Gaza and the West Bank, had the near-sickening audacity to share what amounts to a cheap bit of greeting-card-like philosophy that “where there is life, there is hope”.

Astonishing.

Biden compounded this obscenity by visiting a hospital to praise doctors and nurses tending to the sick while America’s proxy, Israel, has ruthlessly gone about occupying, ransacking and destroying hospitals throughout Gaza and forcibly disappearing and killing Palestinian doctors and nurses.

What they did and how they did it – to borrow a phrase – was special, too.

That Biden and his handlers were blind to this blatant and ugly juxtaposition is a measure of how disposable and forgettable the promising lives and horrific deaths of Palestinians are in their misanthropic geopolitical calculus.

The litany of halting images of the dirt-caked faces of Palestinian children calling out for their lost mamas and babas or small, limp bodies wrapped in white shrouds apparently did not dissuade Biden from playing his part in an agreeable photo op that, given the lethal times and bleak context, stings of indecency.

The Bidens’ token appearance and all that it revealed about the president’s signature nature has served as the exclamation point to a brewing realisation that, like a hurricane, has gathered strength and momentum in me since early October.

I have been such a fool.

I have written columns – that I wish I could erase – praising Biden as a literate, if not honourable, alternative to the mayhem and madness embodied by an illiterate, dishonourable charlatan named Donald Trump.

I have written other columns – that I also wish I could erase – extolling the wisdom of enlightened Americans who, I was confident, would choose Biden over Trump again this coming November and spare a fretting world four more years of Trumpian madness and mayhem.

Enlightened Americans exist. There just aren’t enough of them.

I chided other, much wiser columnists, who wrote that beyond the rhetorical edges, both Biden and Trump were elected to protect the interests – at home and abroad – of the oligarchs they serve under the risible guise of a phantom “democracy” addicted to war and plunder for profit.

On this defining score, Biden has proven to be every bit as useful and reliable a marionette as his predecessor. Trump’s offish manners and profanity offend the delicate sensibilities of the liberal and progressive cognoscenti, not his loyalty to the disfiguring status quo.

I could not care less who prevails in the upcoming presidential campaign. I will not worry a whit about America’s “future” because if even the recent past is any litmus, history’s most efficient killing machine is bound to cause more death, pain and suffering across the globe – whoever is president.

This coming year I will enjoy the entertaining spectacle of a country slipping deeper into fanaticism and dissonance while much of it, predictably, turns to muppets with megaphones, such as Joe Rogan and Bill Maher, for a way out of (or into) the impending abyss.

Speaking of muppets, a note to the swarm of nitwits who will, no doubt, caution me to be “careful what I wish for”.

How much worse can it get? A genocide is being perpetrated against millions of innocent Palestinians while dear, old Uncle Joe twiddles his knotty thumbs. Rather than get incensed about that, you’ll get miffed at me for writing this “outrageous” column.

Priorities.

Finally, I think it would be fitting if Trump returned to the White House.

Then, all of the daffy guff about America being a nation founded on a sacrosanct constitution, the rule of law and a shining city on a hill that the rest of us should emulate will be extinguished emphatically.

What a moment it will be when Americans – well, 66 percent of eligible voters – make it official on November 5, 2024: electing a career criminal to lead a criminal regime.

So, happy jaundiced new year, everyone!
