preface: sorry this is so much writing and im not going to grammar check it cuz aint no body got time for that.

The world of this au is like pokemon with different gyms you can fight through and beat, there's a big league of pro fighters, and there are schools for teaching you to be a better fighter.

One of the schools is called the Germa 66 Private Battle Academy, it goes from grades 1-12 and its where the Vinsmoke siblings all went too (at least until sanji broke off from the family at some point) and its run by Judge Vinsmoke, their father.

i am thinking that the Vinsmoke kids would still be genetically modified and Kuma would be a cyborg in this too.

design stuffs:

Ichiji: i tried to make him as punk as he would feasably get away with living under his father's rule. Big "combat" boots, fingerless gloves, black undershirt. He likes his style and would probably go all out if he didnt have to conform to his school uniform, thus i put a little heart on his boots.

Niji: i also made him like his style. The rings on his fingers, his nikes shoes, his big headphones. Like a gamer who thinks this is what fashion is. I think he would love listening to music too so i put his heart on his headphones.

Yonji: big stakly guy. Hes a lot more hands-on than his brothers so i put lots of emphasis on that area. i put his heart on his hand wraps because i think he would really love fighting. I think that Yonji is most like his father in that enjoyment, but i think Judge wouldnt like how casual Yonji's style is.

Reiju: y2k queen. I love this design on her so much im so bummed that she would have already graduated from the academy and i cant put her in a Hit Me Baby One More Time-esque uniform outfit, shed fucking KILL THAT SHITTT. Anyway though, reiju's heart is subtle yet in plain view, the locket around her neck. i dont think she would let anyone look at the contents but i do think that absolutly it would be her mother on one side and her brothers on the other. She wouldnt like people looking at it because that would mean someone could see that her dad isnt in there and she would get it a lot of trouble with her father about it.

Power ranger fits: i made them full on power rangers. its what they deserve. Since reiju has a butterfly motif in canon, i thought it would be fun to also give her brothers a bug motif of their own. ichiji is a wasp, niji is a dragonfly, yonji is a stag beetle. If sanji stuck around, hed probably be a lady bug lol. Also the masks they wear, the eye window part, it’s like tear tracks coming out but in a way that doesnt look like thats what they are. But it’s meant to show how judge forcing his children to be these people is causing them pain.

Doflamingo: i tried to make him a Nasty Nasty man. Like if a used car salesman made it big. Like if Macklemore was MackleMORE. i love the idea that he likes to tan himself, but he doesnt take any of his clothes off to do so, so he just has the absolute craziest tan lines ever. i put his hearts on the gold chain around his neck, he loves his wealth but not much else. i love the idea of him having two very expensive watches on each wrist. there may be more watches up his sleeve too. i also gave him fluffy dice around his neck, like he's one of the cars that he's selling.

Rosinante: i couldnt get away much longer without putting the heart man into the heart 'game'. i couldve went off more with the hearts of his design but i didnt want him to become nearly as flashy as his brother. i wanted him to be understated and fade into the background when doflamingo is around. he is dead in this au btw sorry :/ this is his design when he passed, but doffy's design is present day him. anyway, Rosi's hearts are everywhere, its in the outline of his big huggable fluffy coat, its on his hat thats pulling him down, it would be on his shirt too if it wasnt covered by his coat in this image.

Bonney: SHEEES SO CUUTEEEE AAAAAAAA i love her. I based her design off of Avril Lavigne with her iconic necktie/tanktop/baggy pants looks. i tried to make her outfit look like she could feasibly fit in it when she ages herself up, especially her big ol shoes. the heart in her design is in her neck tie. The stereotypical visage of a dad is a man in a tie who goes to work, and she loves her dad, so her heart is in her dad tie.

Kuma: I didn't change much of him from his design in canon, but since bonney would be more in his life in this version, i wanted to give him more visual indicators of her being there. like the height chart on his leg, or the fuzzy hat she crocheted for him (she also made her own hat for herself). Also, the pattern on his shirt is one that looks like a paw, but if you took off that outer layer, if the pattern continued, the design would be a sun, and i just think that was really clever ehe ehe.

Hancock: Basically i tried to make her the baddest bitch in the universe. My program crashed like 3 times making her which is so funny. Procreate couldnt handle her. I based her design off of Medusa. at first i had her snake be made out of marble, but it eventually wound up at Obsidian. She has no visible hearts on her design and thats because it would be the scar on her back, which she tries to hide. i like the idea that this very visibly revealing outfit would be perfectly tailored and reinforced to never move a single inch to let anyone see what theyre not supposed to. I dont know how i would justify her being able to turn people into stone in this AU, so im just not going to make a decision on whether or not she can do that.

Roseknightshipping in ARC-V Ideas (using heavy AU/rewrite elements)

Imagining Roseknightshipping in ARC-V is really fun and silly thanks to the existing AU setting causing an apparent lack of Yliaster and a definite lack of Yusei Fudo. Meaning that all we really have to go off of is Aki’s and Sherry’s shared Rose/Flower/Knight motif and potential for mutually fucked up backstories.

So for my now-rapidly-snowballing ARC-V AU/Rewrite, I’m having Aki and Sherry show up to the Friendship Cup in Neo Domino as basically the ultimate wildcards. Their backstory is that they were both in the same fucked-up Boarding School/Duel Academy that was run by this timelines version of the Arcadia Movement and basically went through a whole-ass Revolutionary Girl Utena plot together before finally hooking up, blowing up the academy, feeding Divine to Black Rose Dragon and riding off into the sunset together.

And now they’ve entered the Friendship cup together as the big mysterious wildcard duelists who nobody is quite sure where they stand. Like they’re clearly not working with Shinji or any of the other Commons, but definitely want to make a lot of trouble for the Topsiders. Maybe Aki is using a retooled version of her ‘Black Rose Witch’ masked-persona, with Sherry possibly using her own take on a secret identity.

Aki and Sherry here both use the fully-expanded ‘Rose Dragon’ and ‘Fleur’ archetypes, with Black Rose Dragon and Chevaliar de Fleur as their ace monsters. Along with using Ruddy Rose Dragon and Baronne de Fleur as super-aces.

(Alternatively, in a similar vein to how Jack uses an alternate version of Red Dragon Archfiend in ARC-V, Aki could use a similarly retrained version of BRD. Say, ‘Black Rose Revolution Dragon’, for obvious reasons XD)

They also have a shared ultimate-ace that they summon when dueling together that is basically Baronne riding Ruddy Rose. It also uses their own flashy gimmick take on Synchro Summoning similar to Accel Synchro or Double Tuning that I admittedly haven’t fully thought out yet. Thoughts so far is that it’s a ‘Hybrid Synchro’ method that uses two Synchro monsters that are both also tuners.

Either way, it’s definitely meant to be a VERY unsubtle metaphor for lesbian sex and both Aki and Sherry being switches XD

Ultimately it’s revealed that the Roseknight duo’s motivations are that Jean Michel Roget was the one behind this version of Arcadia, or at least co-opted/bankrolled them as part of his plan to take over Neo-Domino and betray Academia (somewhat paralleling how Arcadia in 5Ds was trying to oppose Yliaster), and Aki and Sherry are here to completely wreck his shit. Which they do in epic fashion during the climax of the Synchro arc (probably replacing Reiji’s/Declan’s duel with Roget in this version of events) before also feeding him to Ruddy Rose Dragon and mysteriously vanish into the night.

Notably, Sherry and Aki don’t really ‘join’ the heroes following the events of the Synchro arc. Mostly because I made them a just a bit too OP and having them stick around makes thing a bit too easy for the heroes. I mean Sherry runs Baronne for Ra’s sake!

Instead, in this version of events Aki and Sherry are meant to show up, be awesome/hot, kick ass, make every girl in sight start questioning her sexuality, leave and refuse to elaborate. And then make a triumphant reappearance in the final battle to help beat down Zarc.

Again, it is honestly kind of funny just how EASILY you can make a whole-ass Utena-AU with Sherry as Utena and Aki as Anthy:

Sherry LeBlanc is a new student at the prestigious/mysterious/overlydramatic ‘Arcadia Duel Academy’, gets into a duel with some seemingly random asshole, kicks his ass, and suddenly finds herself engaged to the mysterious ‘Rose Bride’; Aki Izayoi and just like that we’re off to the races. Just replace ‘sword duels’ with ‘Monster Duels’ (though Sherry can still do a bit of swordfighting, as a treat) and maybe have Sherry driven to be a Knight rather than a Prince, and we’re set XD

I mean if you think about it, Aki is kind of PERFECT as an equivalent to Anthy? Rose-themed, mysterious powers, super-traumatic past, manipulated by a total scumbag, the true ‘power’ at the center of the academy that everyone is fighting over, she even has a secret identity!

Heck, because we’re in the Synchro-verse, we can easily switch out RGU’s fixation on cars for 5D’s fixation on motorcycles! Maybe not with Sherry or Aki actually turning into a motorcycle, but maybe Black Rose Dragon can do that instead?

As for more specific/random character interactions, ideas and headcanons;

In the present of the show, Aki ends up playing a key role in Rin’s new arc/role/focus as the Synchro-protag and wielder/partner of Clear Wing Synchro Dragon (for a reminder, in this AU, Yugo got kidnapped by Yuri/Academia instead of Rin) as an older, more experienced rival/mentor figure. Essentially paralleling Jack’s role in Yuya’s arc.

Like Rin’s route in this version of the Friendship Cup at first has a very similar trajectory to what Yugo did, with Rin dueling Celina and pulling off a win via Clear Wing evolving into Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon much like what happened with Yugo. Only for Rin to then go up against Aki and get completely trounced, forcing her into some character development.

Specifically; Rin goes into her duel against Aki riding high off her previous victory, believing that Crystal Wing combined with Windwitch – Snow Bell is unbeatable. And in fairness, a Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon with effect-destruction protection IS pretty hard to deal with.

Only for Aki to slap down Mark of the Rose to take control of Crystal Wing. Which incidentally, is visualized through a rather homoerotic sequence of the spirit of Black Rose Dragon basically seducing Crystal Wing XD

And if that wasn’t bad enough, after blasting Rin with a direct attack that drops her lifepoints nearly to 0, Aki proceeds to get around having to give Crystal Wing back next turn by using CWSD as synchro-material to summon Ruddy Rose Dragon. Which to add more injury to injury, banishes Rin’s entire graveyard, including Crystal Wing, plus all the Windwitches that Rin was going to use for her burn strategy. Leaving Rin with quite literally NO way of dealing with the 3200 ATK Rose Dragon.

On her next turn, Rin tries to restart her burn combo using Windwitch – Winter Bell, which she also summons in defense to buy time. Only for Aki to use Thorn of Malice (which has been retooled to work with any Rose Dragon) to give Ruddy Rose Dragon piercing damage and finish Rin off.

Later, Rin as well as Celina end up running into both Aki and Sherry, leading to Aki giving Rin the character-development advice she needs. As well dropping cryptic, mysterious and juicy hints regarding her connection with Black Rose Dragon that parallel Rin’s developing bond with Clear/Crystal Wing, which actually parallels some additional advice Jack gives Yuya.

In this setting, it turns out that both Aki and Jack have variations of their Dragon Signer marks, but rather then representing them being chosen by the Crimson Dragon, they instead represent the bond each of them have with their respective dragon partner. Which is made even more interesting by the fact that Rin has had her own mark ever since she summoned Clear Wing for the first time, while Yuya has had a mark flickering on and off for some time now.

Basically, it’s all meant to imply that Black Rose Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend are similar to the four Dimension Dragons as powerful monster spirits in their own right, and hint as to what might come later for the characters.

Also, the whole meeting definitely starts with Rin and Celina accidentally walking in on Aki and Sherry making out and the OTHER half of the conversation comprises of Rin and Celina learning that girls can like girls. After the whole discussion, Rin has a whole HOST of new thoughts weighing on her; how to improve as a duelist, this strange bond she has with Clear Wing, and also girls might be hot now?

Meanwhile, all that Celina is thinking comprises of ‘Holy shit, girls are hot’, ‘How long have girls been hot?’, ‘Holy shit all the girls in my deck are hot’, ‘I want to make out with girls now’, ‘Can I smooch the girls in my deck?’, ‘Hey Rin do you wanna make out?’ and ‘Oh shit I said that out loud, didn’t I?’

Needless to say, things get a bit awkward XD

1 - This began as a Villain!Hisashi Midoriya AU that turned into a full blown rewrite featuring Villain!Hisashi Midoriya. Note: this is not DFO. -- 1.2 - Also, Denki's mom is a vigilante.

2 - All asks should be on topic of my rewrite! -- 2.1 - I'll be going arc by arc as well. While you can ask questions about the future arcs, I won't be answering said asks until the appropriate arc shows up. -- 2.2 - While I love reading and hearing things about other people's rewrites. 4 - I genuinely love MHA, it holds a special place in my heart. While I am critical of a lot of things that happened, I don't hate the series. I'm primarily doing this rewrite for fun

54 - While I do really like the fight and battle scenes. I'll be expanding upon Academia part of My Hero Academia. I will also be including more low-stakes and slice-of-life arcs & moments in my rewrite. -- 5.1 - I also enjoy queer coming-of-age stories, so be prepared for topics of queerness to come up occasionally.

6 - I love shipping. I've been a shipper for about 10-ish years now. That being said, so far the only ship I have planned to become rewrite canon is Momojiro. If I add more ships than just them, please be respecful of the pairings I add. -- 6.1 - I will not be adding any incestous and pedophilic ships. If I do then it would not be portrayed in a positivity light.

7 - Original characters! Original arcs! Original or expanded upon backstories for canon characters! If none of these are your cup of tea then I suggest finding a different rewrite to follow. However, none of the original characters introduced will overshadow Class 1-A. -- 7.1 - Most of the original characters will be in the form of family members of the canonical characters.

8 - While I don't consider myself an anti of any of the characters. This rewrite will be critical-to-heavily critical of the following characters Shouta Aizawa, Katsuki Bakugo, Minoru Mineta, Hitoshi Shinso, and Enji Todoroki. If you are a fan/stan of any of these characters and have a hard time handling criticism about them, it'll be best to find a different rewrite to follow -- 8.1 - That being said I will fixing and giving Shouta, Katsuki, Hitoshi, and Minoru proper ✨character development✨ -- 8.2 - No matter what direction I will being for Enji, I will be killing him off.

9 - Since I am white and don't live in Japan. If I get anything wrong about Japanese culture, please inform me.

Tier list based on the amount of work that each Caitlyn skin will need, in my opinion

Doesn't need to be touched: Pulsefire and Battle Academia have their own models, and they both look solid, so most likely they won't be getting changed when the update comes.

Just a new model: Arcade, Arcade Prestige, Lunar Wraith and Pool Party each have unique effects, and their designs are pretty good, so a new model following those skins should be fine.

Basic update: Base skin, Artic Ops, and Headhunter. These will probably be changed slightly, to better fit their theme, but I don't expect anything major from them. Just small changes here and there to update them.

Change completly!: Officer, Sheriff, Resistance, and Safari are skins I hope are re-made from the ground up to be reimagined and fit their new au perectly. Officer becoming the Swat design we saw in LoR and Sheriff becoming High noon with demon and angel aesthetics specially.

If this Au isn't literally just dumping a bunch of One Piece characters into the My Hero Academia's setting and hoping OP's world-shakers won't shake MHA's world too much, I don't think most of the vigilante stuff is necessary.

On paper, pirates and supervillains have the same roles in the world. They're people condemned by the government and its marines/heroes; many of them are bad people, but some are nice. Many of them are trying to enrich themselves through schemes to steal treasure or control communities; some have other goals.

The big difference is that MHA's nice, sympathetic villains start uncommon and end nonexistent, except arguably Himiko, but she's a topic for another post. Which is weird, because early arcs emphasize inequities and injustice in hero society, but that's another topic for an even longer post.

Anyway, my point is that if I was gonna combine MHA and OP, I'd just make the heroes Marines and the villains pirates, or vise versa. The supervillains/pirates are all people who have been deemed as dangerous by the government, whether they're monsters like Moonfish and Big Mom or unjustly demonized individuals like Nico Robin and Twice. The heroes/marines, by contrast, have agreed to use their strength to maintain the status quo; they are therefore accepted by

(The revolutionaries can be vigilantes; they break the Marine/Pirate dichotomy. So do the Seven Warlords, but in such a different way that I'm not sure where they'd fit. Maybe some kind of boxed-crook deal?)

If I were dumping One Piece characters into Japan instead of dumping My Hero Academia characters into the ocean, I'd probably have Roger, the Rocks pirates, and their successors (also All For One) be villains powerful enough that even the likes of All-Might and Garp the Fist can't create the kind of peace canon!All-Might symbolized.

Also, a fight between Whitebeard and All-Might at some point in the past would have shatter Honshu (and maybe the other "Home Islands") into a thousand pieces, because that lets the villains control islands that used to be Osaka or something, which makes them feel more pirate-ey. Maybe it would be part of a larger battle between heroes and the Rocks Pirates that shaped the present-tense status quo in multiple ways.

Garp, who was Roger’s rival in the hero rankings, realized what was up but by then he had like… a child and decided to prioritize his family’s safety over justice because he just saw like. Two of his close friends get killed for it. And he didn’t want to lose the rest of the people he loved or leave behind an orphaned kid for the sake of morals

Once Dragon gets older he learns about what happens and becomes a vigilante

After this happens Garp DOES decide to get justice because it isn’t right that he ignores other people for the sake of his own selfishness but he doesn’t want to put his family at risk so he decides to hand over little Luffy to Makino and Dadan and then he goes underground to take care of the case as soon as possible (and he plans to be back before Luffy starts middle school but things get complicated and he has to spend more time away…)

“things get complicated” meaning he finds tiny Ace, who was being raised by Rayleigh and Shakky. Rayleigh and Shakky decide to help Garp in taking down the Hero Commission but they can’t take care of Ace AND do that so they hand him over to Makino as well but they can’t like. EXPLAIN this to him properly so baby Ace is just like “I’ve been abandoned… because they hate me…” and he’s sad

AUgust Day 17 - Firefighters

BakuDeku from Boku no Hero Academia

It all began after Ground Zero had SAVED a bunch of CHILDREN from a villain. The whole block was on fire, but everyone was safely evacuated, the villain was captured, and Bakugo had even grit his teeth and been nice to the kids. Since his PR rep was constantly breathing down his neck to thank the plebeians for their work, Bakugo was GRACIOUSLY walking over to the firefighters who showed on the scene to THANK them for their work.

Before he could get a word out, he was blasted with a fire hose.

The little shit who’d done it was short, muscle bulking through his arms, green haired, and carrying what looked like a backpack attached to a one-man fire hose. It reminded Bakugo of hero support tech, though he wasn’t sure how a common firefighter had managed to get his grubby hands on such things. Not that Bakugo had a lot of time to think about it. He kept getting sprayed.

Every time he tried to fight his way through, he’d get knocked back by the force of the water. He was already exhausted from the fight, and the little shit was way too good with that thing. When Bakugo was finally on hands and knees, gasping for breath and hacking up water, glaring daggers at the whole team who was gaping in shock, the uppity firefighter spoke.

The guy’s name was Midoriya, and he had a lot to say about Bakugo leaving fires everywhere. He went on this long rant about how Endeavor and his son had actual fire powers and still managed to keep things under control. How come Bakugo left a path of destruction bigger than most villains? Midoriya also launched into a long list of examples, shoving Bakugo’s history in his face.

Nobody had ever talked to Bakugo like that, not even his beleaguered PR rep. On the one hand, he was impressed. On the other, he wanted to pop the guy’s head off.

He couldn’t, however. He was supposed to be revamping his image in order to stop from backsliding down the hero rankings any further. Unable to attack the firefighters or say anything in his own defense considering all of what was being shouted at him was true, Bakugo simply left. It was the most bitter defeat he’d ever suffered, but he wasn’t one to stay down.

If some average schmuck could have hero support equipment made to fight fire, so could Bakugo. He called in a favor from an old UA classmate that night. In only a few days time, he had a new belt full of badass looking grenades. They fit his aesthetic and scared the shit out of villains that knew him when he pulled the pin. They were, however, made to spray some anti-flammable shit everywhere. He’d toss one over his shoulder if he noticed too many things smoking or burning as he blasted by.

It was inevitable that Bakugo’d run into that damn firefighter again. Midoriya had the gall to look impressed at Bakugo’s grenades. However, that look didn’t last long. Instead, he was frowning at the building they were in. Bakugo was checking the place for anyone left inside that may have been knocked out due to the battle. The firefighters were there to check through rubble and drench anything left burning. (Bakugo had become aware that firefighters were called to all of his battles even before they ended. They just ASSUMED. The bastards.)

About the time Bakugo was demanding if his grenades weren’t good enough, Midoriya was shouting for everyone to evacuate the building. Apparently, the villain had taken out one too many support beams. Bakugo did a quick sweep of the building but found nobody else inside. When he blasted from one of the windows, he noticed Midoriya running to another building with a loud speaker. Shit. The building was going to crash into the one across the street.

The half and half bastard showed up in time to ice the building into place, though he had to keep his focus on it since the weight so much cement kept shattering his efforts. Bakugo followed Midoriya’s instructions, reliant on the firefighter’s expertise on which buildings needed to be evacuated. It took an hour, and the end result was three buildings demolished, but there were no casualties. Bakugo’s PR rep was in tears from relief and joy.

A week later, both Bakugo AND Midoriya were on a platform being commended for their bravery and actions saving so many lives. That was when Bakugo learned that Midoriya was quirkless. The media was exceedingly happy to point that out constantly, as if the guy was somehow crippled and it was a miracle he could work at all. Bakugo wasn’t sure how to feel about that considering he’d acted the same way once upon a time. Then again, adults in the media shouldn’t be holding the same world views as punk teens in middle school.

Midoriya took it a lot better, seemingly used to it. Bakugo swallowed down the comments he wanted to make considering how many cameras were pointed at him and shook Midoriya’s hand, forcing himself to do the photo op after with an arm around Midoriya’s surprisingly wide shoulders. Midoriya made a speech about being thankful for heroes. Bakugo made a speech about the hard work of people like police and firefighters. It was an exhausting day.

A week later, Bakugo’s PR rep was having a hayday with how much people loved Bakugo and Midoriya together and how it had spiked Bakugo’s previously shitty public approval rating. He should have known what was coming next. Bakugo would now have to be seen acting like him and Midoriya were FRIENDS, which meant going out drinking with Midoriya’s team or attending the AU sports festival together. Bakugo hated that this was a part of “being a hero” according to PR.

Midoriya, however, was having a blast. Turned out he was a nerd who knew way too many details about every hero there was. At least his favorite was All Might. It meant he had taste, and there was something for Bakugo to talk about.

However, the more they spent time together, the more Bakugo remembered things he shouldn’t be. It had been a long time since he’d let anyone get too close to him. He’d even cut ties with Kirishima, afraid of how much worse things would get. But now, Midoriya was forced to be in Bakugo’s orbit, slowly cutting through the flimsy walls Bakugo kept around himself, walls he’d thought were unbreakable. He must have been fooling himself all this time.

You see, as far as Bakugo was concerned, it was better to be alone forever than to let anyone know he was gay. After all, his approval ratings were low enough. So low that pretending to be friends with a quirkless extra was pulling him up through the ranks. How was he supposed to be the number one hero if people discovered he was gay?

How would he be able to shut Midoriya up if he ever found out?

Things went from bad to worse when Bakugo was forced yet again to spend time with Midoriya’s team. They were at a bar drinking when some nosy guy ended up all over Midoriya. Bakugo kept waiting for the disgust, the anger, the solid refusal, but Midoriya played nice. When the guy pulled Midoriya aside and asked for a date, Midoriya was polite and said his work kept him too busy. When the guy left, Bakugo turned on Midoriya.

Why? Why wasn’t he bothered? Why hadn’t he just said “I’m straight”? Why was he still so damn nice about it instead of insulting the guy? Why was he mad at Bakugo for asking these perfectly relevant questions?

Bakugo wasn’t sure at what point in the argument it happened, but he was suddenly kissing Midoriya, pressed up against the wall in a corner nobody could see. Bakugo grabbed Midoriya’s ass, waiting to be pushed away, but instead, Midoriya wrapped his legs around Bakugo’s waist. When Bakugo ground his erection against Midoriya’s crotch, he wasn’t shunned for it. Instead, Midoriya reached between them and pulled out their cocks, jerking them off with single-minded determination.

When it was all over, Bakugo was on his knees with Midoriya in his lap. The afterglow didn’t last long. He threatened Midoriya — tell anyone and die. Midoriya just looked at Bakugo with pity, and it was too much to handle. So Bakugo left, determined to put the night behind him, determined to forget the taste of Midoriya’s mouth.

He needed to cut ties, just like he did long ago with Kirishima. It was safer that way, for everyone involved. But as much as Bakugo wanted to run, he couldn’t. Midoriya was everywhere — at work, during PR events, at city meetings, and then, one night, on Bakugo’s doorstep. Damn Midoriya for being so kind, for insisting that they talk, for smelling so good.

Damn him for pushing his way into Bakugo’s apartment.

Damn him for kissing Bakugo with emotion that would ruin both their careers.

Wasn’t Midoriya afraid? Didn’t he care? Why did he keep saying that what was between them could be important? That they could change things? Be heroes in a way the city really needed? Why was this, of all things, making stupid, dangerous Midoriya sound like All Might?

It was inevitable that they ended up in bed together, and the sex made it so much harder to ignore what Bakugo had buried his whole life. Midoriya was patient. No matter how Bakugo screamed and threatened and threw things, Midoriya stayed calm and talked through the fear Bakugo was trying to cover up with rage. Midoriya was kind, too kind, and Bakugo was falling apart.

A month of trying to keep Midoriya at arm’s length and failing passed before things changed for Bakugo. He was doing a PR tour of schools, dealing with brats and shortening his lifespan with each autograph and photo op he did. It was when he took off to the bathroom for a break that he found a collection of bullies, using their quirks on some poor sobbing kid. When Bakugo scared the shit out of them, they justified their actions immediately, pointing at the kid on the ground, accusing him of being gay.

Weak, useless, unwanted, pointless, gross, all words they were using to describe the kid, all words Bakugo had been terrified of hearing for so long now. They mocked the kid for crying and cowering, as if that was all the evidence they needed that they were right.

That was when Bakugo finally understood what Midoriya was trying to say, how Bakugo could make a much bigger difference as a hero than simply being in the number one slot. So Bakugo walked up to the kid on the ground, looked him in the eye, and asked if really WAS gay. The kid, looking utterly defeated, said yes.

“Good. So am I.” And it felt like a weight lifted to finally say it outloud for the first time in his life. He held a hand out to the kid. “Now get up. I’m gonna teach you how to fight.”

And that’s the story of how Bakugo got suspended for a week when multiple students ended up in the hospital. On the upside, there was plenty of time for Midoriya to take him on dates during the time off.

I’m picking up My Hero Academia again - I remember reading the first two volumes before dropping it (and when that happens, it’s more because I found something else to do rather than disinterest), and this was before the manga was at...100 chapters, I think? I don’t know, it’s been a long while.

Right off the bat, I think I can say I get what some people mean when they say the story would’ve been more rewarding if Deku had stayed Quirkless all the way through instead of inheriting One For All. It reminds of the same contradiction battle school light novels and anime face: in those stories there’s usually an MC who’s considered “the weakest” or “can’t use magic when everyone else does”, only for them to very quickly overpower people with each new added gimmick.

And when that happens, then you may as well have had your MC not be made the weakest or invalid of magical sources to begin with, because then by making them God Mode OP you’re shitting all over the system and invalidating the other cast members that work their ass off and rightfully earn their power (Shiba Tatsuya from Mahouka doesn’t quite fit this mold for plot reasons, but he joins Naruto and Sasuke in leaving everyone in the dust by being in a league of his own).

But I’m only three volumes in. Maybe I’ll be gussied enough to do a couple fanfics when I’m caught up and the mood’s there. I like the idea of anti-hero!Deku and villain!Deku (hell I’m down for different Bakugou AUs - which is ironic, because I couldn’t stand him when I first read MHA).

Overwatch: My Hero Academia AU

Overwatch (Organization): Once a proud agency of numerous heroes from around the world, a political upheaval forced most of them to quit or seek their heroics elsewhere. Currently disbanded through legal ruling of the United Nations (where it was formed from), there are still several heroes with the hopes and willpower to bring it back, especially now that Talon continues to grow stronger.

Blackwatch: A sub-unit of special-ops heroes to deal with the missions that Overwatch couldn’t, especially under the constant watch of political and civilian critiques alike. Without the same red tape, Blackwatch was able to accomplish many specialized missions with high-priority villains and organizations, but it also lead to the group’s downfall when its existence was uncovered and threw the trust of the people into chaos. In order to curtail the backlash, Overwatch (and subsequently, Blackwatch) was disbanded.

Talon (Organization): A growing group of villains that very few people know much about. Considered a terrorist group of variable cohesiveness around the globe, little is known about their true intentions, their headquarters, or who is even a part of their league. They have grown in number and frequency of attacks after Overwatch’s disbandment, despite the attempt to put other agencies and heroes in the spotlight to take Overwatch’s place.

Doomfist: Minor strength-enhancing quirk, giving him extreme power in close combat situations. Despite losing an arm early in his life, Akande had the wealth and intelligence to help him have a replacement prosthetic that could equal the strength he had before the incident. Combined with several pieces of equipment to augment his strength, speed and tactical ability, he is someone to be feared--especially since he works for Talon.

Genji + Hanzo: Their quirk is based off of the ability to control familial-like spirits, or (as some believe) the ability to create solid illusions to instill their will on (similar to being physical psychics). It is unknown truly which is true, as the Shimadas themselves do not know.

McCree:  Provided that he is able to focus well enough, Jesse has the ability to quick-shoot anyone in his line of sight with perfect accuracy in just under a second. Called ‘Deadeye’, this ability is extremely draining, and requires an intense concentration to pull off, especially with crowds of people.

Pharah: Though quirk-less, Fareeha is a peerless strategist in her squad, as a member of the Helix Security company. She relies on her equipment and personal training, but can accomplish many amazing feats that some people don’t realize she lacks a quirk.

Reaper: Can manipulate his body like a living shadow, allowing him to be the commander of the covert Blackwatch organization in it’s hayday. After the disbandment of Overwatch and the incident at the Zurich HQ, an unknown incident caused a mutation in his quirk, leaving him nearly formless, constantly shifting from human to shadow, though it is hard to keep a completely human form if he is stressed or aggravated. Due to this, he endures much chronic pain and fatigue.

Soldier: 76: Very similar to McCree, his quirk is based on taking down enemies as long as they are in his line of sight. Due to his quirk being given to him through very legally-shakey experimentation before joining the original Overwatch Strike Team. He can accurately shoot at anyone within his line of sight, but unlike McCree, he can only take down one person at a time instead of multiple all at once. He can do this in bursts of ten to thirty second intervals, but the fatigue afterwards multiplies the longer he does so.

Sombra: She has a natural, biological ability to interface with any computer system. Due to years of self-teaching, she has honed this ability to become an absolutely peerless hacker and pursuer of knowledge on anyone. She can activate this quirk at anytime, though prolonged use can render her fatigued and over-extension could even run the risk of the computer system she’s hacking into attacking her.

Tracer: Through life, Tracer endured a very touchy, powerful miniature time-traveling quirk, though it only allowed her short dashes into the future, up to about 10 seconds forward at a time. To onlookers, it would appear that she can zip and dash around with intense speed. As a young adult, she swore to never use the quirk due to her inability to control it properly, leaving her to dash through time almost constantly from stress or emotional turmoil. It was the work of Winston who eventually developed a piece of equipment to give her a great control over it.

Bastion: Of unknown origin, Bastion is an omnic model of the long-forgotten Omnic crisis.

Junkrat: Quirkless, but an immense chemical intelligence and a hearty level of stubbornness to physical pain and other forms of challenges. He often claims that his pyrotechnics ability could be considered a quirk. Or his lack of self-preservation.

Mei: She has a quirk that allows her to manipulate the water-vapor in the air, turning it into ice. She is also, due to this quirk, extremely tolerant of colder temperatures.

Torbjörn: Quirkless, but carries a massive talent in creating equipment, capture devices, armor and thensome. He is considered one of the top creators of support equipment for many of the greatest heroes.

Widowmaker: Forcibly given a quirk through Talon that allows her to suppress almost all of her bodily functions, such as a heartbeat, to allow her greater advantage as both an assassin and sniper. Little is known if this quirk also suppressed her as a person, or if a quirk of another is in effect over her.

D.Va: Quirkless. A mecha-pilot in the South Korean military forces, she does have a combat ability that rivals those around her, particularly her extensive knowledge of tactics and battle.

Orisa: A creation of Efi Odelade in order to protect her home city of Numbani from Doomfist or other nefarious villains. Though she lacks a quirk due to her robotic heritage, her abilities are inspired by several quirks of heroes that Efi herself looked up to.

Reinhardt: A tank of human proportions--he is able to temporarily harden his skin to a steel-like composition, turning himself into a living shield for short periods of time. This ability was relatively useful during his time in the Crusadors, but became less useful when he began relying on his hard-light shield and armor to protect his comrades and friends.

Roadhog: His quirk lies in both his size and strength, which lets him tower over those around him. It’s unknown however if this quirk is from birth, or was mutated from the events that took place in Australia when a local Omnium was destroyed, sending radiation across the entirety of the Outback.

Winston: It is uncommon for animals to be born with quirks, but Winston is one of the exceptions--his intelligence and strength is almost unparalleled, leaving him to be a prominent figure within Overwatch and the creator of the equipment that allows Tracer a fine-tuned control of her time-blinking ability.

Zarya: It is unknown if she is quirkless or has one in extreme strength alone, though nobody would think twice to deny that she is nevertheless an accomplished athlete and fighter for her country. Personally, Zarya does not see herself in having a quirk, since her strength is not entirely out of range of human ability (mostly; many disagree with her).

Ana: Quirkless, but a master sniper and former leader of Overwatch.

Lúcio: His abilities lie in healing and energizing--depending on his focus, he can either heal or energize everyone who is close to him, within 1-2 meters of his physical body. The healing is based in the quickening of the natural process, fast enough that minor wounds can be completely healed-over within several minutes of close physical contact.

Mercy: Her quirk is like a mobile resuscitation device, quickened and controlled moreso with the caduceus staff of her own invention. Though she cannot heal those who have no brain function, she can bring back even the most injured of people if she is able to sacrifice enough energy and focus to do so. Much of her power lies instead in her inventions and medical knowledge.

Symmetra: Can form hard-light constructs around her body without the aid of any machines or equipment, and extend these constructs as far as her body can handle--the father and bigger the construct, the more energy it takes to do so. Though she was at first only able to create baseball sized objects, she can now easily create short bridges across buildings, shields to others close by her, and thensome.

Zenyatta: Can control several metallic orbs of his own creation. Though they inherently do not have any power or ability on their own, Zenyatta is able to imbue either pain or healing onto them, and then launch them either at an ally or enemy to do the effect intended. These orbs cannot remain out of his sight for more than three seconds before they will return to him, regardless of what they were doing before. He cannot send more than 2-3 orbs out at a time, as they drain him quickly and lead to fatigue.

Crystal Wind Rin AU/Yugioh Arc-V Rewrite Ideas: Part 1

Because I still have this wild idea of Rin getting Clear Wing Synchro Dragon on the brain, I thought I might as well dive headlong into it.

So here’s what I have dubbed the “Crystal Wind Rin” AU for Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V and the many ideas and headcanons that have spun out of it.

Though one bit of clarifying preamble before diving in: While I’ll pretty much exclusively be discussing Rin and her revamped character and journey here, she’s actually far from the only character or plot elements to be changed. Rather than one simply change to this one character rippling through the rest of the story, this really represents just one part of a much broader revamping of ARC-V as a whole. What I’ll be discussing here simply focuses on Rin’s part of it, plus Yugo and Clear Wing Synchro Dragon.

So with that out of the way; let’s start with the big deviation that kicks off Rin’s new story:

What if Yugo got kidnapped by Acadamia forces instead of Rin?

The impetus for this is pretty straightforward; when Yuri and the Obelisk Black Ops portal into the Synchro Dimension, Yuri happens to run into Yugo and feels this strange connection to this other boy that just FASCINATES him and decides he’d MUCH rather kidnap this guy instead of the weird random girl that his boss is so interested in for some reason.

So Yuri and his goons all jump Yugo and knock him out, with Rin showing up just in time to see her childhood friend get carted off through a portal much like how Yugo saw her getting carried off in the original show. However, in all the scuffle with the Academia goons, Yugo ends up dropping Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, or perhaps he oh so conveniently forgot the card at home. Either way, Rin is the one to find and pick up the card.

And so with no idea what the hell just happened and determined to rescue her closest friend, Rin takes up both Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, and the Duel Runner she and Yugo built together, and maybe Yugo’s helmet if that also got dropped. And just like with Yugo, Clear Wing resonates with Rin’s desires and portals them to the Xyz Dimension.

At this point Rin has essentially taken over Yugo’s role as the main Synchro Dimension representative/protag of ARC-V.

Rin’s initial journey is fairly similar to Yugo’s at first, driven by much the same motivation of tracking down and rescuing her kidnapped friend.

She even still has a duel with Yuto just like Yugo did, though it ends up going both quite similar AND quite different.

At the climax of the duel, Rin does summon Clear Wing Synchro Dragon much like Yugo did, though perhaps after Yuto summons Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, and it does still cause a reaction between Rin, Clear Wing, Yuto, Dark Rebellion and maybe even a sedated Yugo a couple dimensions over in Academia.

Except Rin’s and Clear Wing’s reaction is quite a bit more… EXTREME.

As in, less ‘unhinged lust for battle’ and more ‘total fear-and-anger induced berserker rage’. Like Clear Wing, Yuto, Dark Rebellion and Yugo are just starting to resonate similar to what we saw originally when suddenly Rin and Clear Wing let out a SCREAM of terror and anger before being consumed in swirling auras of power. Which even breaks the previous resonance and leaves a now-fully lucid Yuto and Dark Rebellion pretty much fighting for their lives against a Rin and Clear Wing fully consumed by a berserker fury. Which could be made all the more difficult by Rin perhaps having summoned Clear Wing with both Windwitch Snow Bell and Ice Bell, making her pretty much unkillable.

Basically, turns out a fragment of Ray Akaba summoning one of Zarc’s Dimensional Dragons makes for an extremely VIOLENT reaction.

And to add yet one more interesting wrinkle to all this; before all that shit goes down, Rin actually hears Clear Wing’s eagerness to be summoned just like Yugo did. Implying that Clear Wing didn’t actually know what was going to happen and likely didn’t even know WHO Rin actually was yet.

Needless to say, the duel ends about as badly, if not worse for Yuto. With his dragon ripped apart and himself defeated and badly maimed by the berserk Clear Wing Synchro Dragon. With both Rin and Clear Wing looking about ready to go after Yuya next when Rin has a brief moment of clarity and orders Clear Wing to stop before falling unconscious. With Clear Wing notably also looking ready to collapse from exhaustion and using the last of her strength to portal both of them away. Leaving a mortally wounded Yuto to perish extremely homoerotically in Yuya’s arms and merge with him.

As for Rin, while unconscious she is beset by strange and unsettling visions of fighting a mysterious pink-haired girl (who happens to look a LOT like White Wing Magician…), wild and enraged in a way that terrifies Rin.

And when Rin finally awakes, she finds yet more oddities. First, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon’s card now bares a strange, subtle yet distinct marking on its back; a strange square-cap symbol. Second, Rin discovers to her shock that she herself also now bares a mark of her own on her right arm; a strange mark vaguely resembling a wing, almost like one of those on Clear Wing Synchro Dragon.

Basically, Rin and Clear Wing inadvertently ‘marked’ each other with their respective powers. Rin marking Clear Wing with the symbol of the ‘En Winds’ nature card, and Clear Wing marking Rin with a very Signer-esque dragonmark.

Obviously, this will be VERY important later XD

Rin spends a lot of time after this grappling with some very conflicted feelings about Clear Wing Synchro Dragon. Confusion, anger and fear about what exactly is going on with the dragon and what happened to them both. Which is only compounded further by reveals that Rin always felt a combination of both wonder and awe at Yugo’s dragon, yet also an underlying apprehension and discomfort that she could never explain and thus buried and pretended didn’t exist.

All this leads to Rin being VERY reluctant to summon Clear Wing for some time unless absolutely necessary. And when she does Rin has to actively fight against the fear and rage driving her to go berserk. All while Rin is further beset by more tumultuous dreams of fighting the other mysterious girl, feeling nothing but fear and anger towards her in a way she can’t explain.

This also leads to Rin being a lot more proactive in trying to get information/answers from others, or at least is quite a bit more focused and intelligent about it than Yugo was. Which is further helped by Rin obviously not being a Yu-boy and thus not inadvertently setting off Yuzu’s bracelet-teleporter and thus giving Rin more time in the Standard Dimension with the rest of the cast and get at least some answers.

Unlike Yugo, Rin is a fair bit less single-minded in basically only being focused on saving a kidnapped childhood friend. She still wants to save Yugo, but is also driven much more to stop the Fusion Dimension, as well as driven to figure out just what is going on with both her and Clear Wing. This potentially even leads to her being inducted into the Lancers by Reiji alongside Serena.

Though no one is really able to give Rin any answers as to what’s going on with her and Clear Wing.
