“How can you drink that stuff? Just shows money can’t buy taste” you tease, somehow already settling into his presence despite having said maybe 30 words between you. Luckily, he takes your teasing in stride, smirking at you over the lip of his glass.

“M’sure you just haven't had the nice stuff. Wanna try a sip of mine? promise it'll go down nice and smooth, sweetheart.” That nickname falling from anyone else’s lips would make a shiver of disgust flitter down your spine, but for some reason, electricity pools at the base instead. As if on autopilot, you lean forward, covering his hand with yours and using it to bring the cup to your lips. 

You soon drop your grip, letting him puppet the glass, watching as he starts tilting it up gradually and holding eye contact with you, silently asking if this is okay. You give him an almost imperceivable nod, and soon you feel smooth liquor falling down your throat.

He only pours a few mills, but it's enough to overwhelm your senses. You can't tell if it's from the drink or him. The intoxicating aftershave he is wearing quickly overtakes the oak tinged scotch rocking your taste buds. 

The cup clinks against the rings on his hand when he pulls it back, watching a droplet fall from the rim onto your stained lip. Before your tongue can catch it, his thumb is brushing over your skin, catching it on the rough pad of his digit.

Eager eyes follow his hand, darting up to his half-lidded gaze before flitting back. You watch in awe as he pushes his thumb between his lips, sucking the drop of scotch into his mouth with a filthy smirk.

“S’expensive stuff love. can't let it go to waste, can I?”

I've been encountering post comments of people flipping out over the Bridgerton S3 teaser clip where Anthony sneaks a kiss on Kate while dancing in front of the ton. It made me realize that Boromir was quite bold and brazen with the way he interacted with Reader (Aerdis) in "Breathe".

Getting so close and intimate, publicly, with a lady who was not his wife or even anything?? All the pearl clutching!! 👀😂

Real question, though: what are your thoughts, opinions, or headcanons about social protocols and restrictions in Gondor/Minas Tirith regarding interactions between unmarried men and women? Do you see it as a climate similar to the Regency Era, or something less restrictive? I guess it wasn't super conservative, considering the Farawyn public canoodling... unless that was a great scandal in itself. 😂

Oooh I love this question! (and I'm so excited for Bridgerton S3!!) Here are entirely too many of my thoughts XD

You know how much I love your Breathe fic, and I think acting a bit outside of social norms fits Boromir very well- he seems like the type to feel every emotion very intensely, and while he's very aware of social norms, he's not going to let them get in his way for long. (be still my heart, fetch me my smelling salts at once)

That being said I don't personally imagine Gondorian society to be quite as restrictive as regency-era England, just because the regency era was SO restrictive. There were SO many social taboos and particular ways you had to navigate social settings, and while I'm not an expert on them all, a lot of aspects of Jane Austen's books still stand out to me as just insane, like never referring to your spouse by their first name, even when you're just chilling at home with your kids. No hand touching if you're not wearing gloves, no dancing with someone more than twice in one setting (unless you're making your intentions VERY clear), etc. And alongside that, you get a lot of class restrictions too, like only certain pastimes being considered "proper," and everything from manners of speaking and sitting and chewing your food can mark you as uncouth and poor (I'm thinking of Emma here, and all the minute ways Emma has to teach Harriet to be an upstanding member of society. It's exhausting!).

I think some of these taboos would carry over to Gondor, like needing a chaperone to hang out with a person of the opposite sex before you're engaged, and minimal touching or displays of affection (and yes, I think the Farawyn kiss was VERY scandalous, people were probably gossiping about that one for ages lol). But some of the smaller more restrictive social norms of regency society probably don't apply (unless I want them to, for heightened drama).

Overall, I'm going to say that 1. social norms probably are bent out of whack a bit both during and a while after the war, just because people had more important things to worry about, and 2. Boromir and Faramir are a half-step away from royalty in Gondor, so their behavior probably gets a pass most of the time anyway.

As for the class restrictions, I think once again Boromir gets to bend a lot of rules here- he's probably very aware of how other nobles behave vs commoners, but I don't think he cares much and is probably a bit sick of all the hoops higher-class people have to jump through just to navigate a basic social situation. I also think that, because he's a soldier, he's more attuned to the rest of his citizens than other nobles might be. Plus he's had to cook his own meals, take care of his own horse, clean and sharpen his own weapons, mend his own clothes while on the road, etc. Nothing is beneath him by now. That was probably true for a lot of people during the war regardless of wealth or class, so I'm imagining a bit of the class division kind of dissolving, at least temporarily, after the war. Everyone emerged from it in different places with a different view of the world than when they started.

Finally, I personally really like the idea of some Ancient Roman influence on Gondor (they have aqueducts, I just know it! And I love the idea of Gondorian women wearing those Ancient Roman woven hairstyles) but unfortunately I haven't been able to find much on Ancient Roman societal norms online outside of how they approach meals (which we can tell from the books and films doesn't really apply anyway). So that idea might be a bit of a dead end.

Ooooh, WIP meme, tell me about Soulmate?

Oooh, good choice!!

This is actually the shortest and most recent of my WIPs, but also the one that I've been writing the longest... Let me explain.

About three years ago, I was struck with this idea of writing a soulmate AU for Brennan and Cass (I do love a soulmate AU!) but I wanted to use the 'each is marked by the other's injuries' variant. I really like the idea of little Brennan being covered in training bruises and cuts and burns and the like, while he tries his best not to get injured himself because she obviously has enough going on in her life!

I worked on it for a little while, and then abandoned it because the vibes just weren't working. I resurrected it a few times over the past three years, but each time I was just... meh. I couldn't figure out where I wanted to start, what I wanted the plot to be, so it kept falling back into the abandoned folder.

And then, a couple of weeks ago, I was really struggling with my current fic, and I suddenly had a new burst of inspiration for this idea. Putting it from Cassandra's POV, instead of Brennan's, and starting it with them meeting, not before. I'm not sure if this iteration is going to survive either - though I've just had another idea of how I could do it, lol, while writing this, so, hmm...

Seeker Cassandra Pentaghast, Right Hand of the Divine, Hero of Orlais, Seventy-Eighth in Line to the Nevarran Throne, had never noticed a mark on her body that she hadn’t put there herself.

Which was fine.

She had long known that, despite her titles, she was not… special. Not in that way. She did not have anyone in Thedas destined to be with her, like so many of the heroines in her most oft-read and carefully hidden novels.

It was better that she did not.

Everyone who had ever loved her had died.

Then, on the very day of the explosion at the Temple of Sacred Ashes, there is a searing pain in her hand, and a green mark appears upon it. With no warning. No corresponding injury to explain such a thing.

And worse, it bears a striking, impossible resemblance to the mark on their prisoner’s hand. The very man who likely killed the Divine.

It… it cannot be…

oooh Divorce au 👀👀

Okay, this is the oldest WIP on the list, and also one of the two on the list likely to see the light of day ... this year. I've talked about it a bit here and there, but for the benefit of people who are new here, or might have missed it in the past, here are a few bullet point teasers:

It's a Zimbits AU in which Bitty and Jack are both recently divorced (from other people).

At the beginning, they're both still struggling to cope.

Jack's marriage ended in a very high profile way when his famous wife had an affair with one of his teammates; as a result, he asks for a trade and gets sent to the Falconers.

In this AU, Bitty and Jack meet because Bitty and Chowder still played together at Samwell, and Chowder also plays for the Falcs.

Chowder's kids and Bitty's kids are on the same hockey team.

Friends --> better friends --> (eventually) lovers.

Bitty's kids play a big role in bringing them together.

Bitty is extremely salty about his ex-husband's new man.

Nothing in this fic has anything to do with Texas, but the first time I heard "Texas Man" by the Chicks, I knew it was the theme song for this fic.

this is actually a line that i’ve reused in a few of my fics about jorge adopting minho, i feel like it fits them so well in every universe. i cannot describe how important it is to me, how two broken characters learn how to heal and love themselves through the eyes of the family they never knew they were missing, the way they learn how to love someone in a way they never loved anyone before 🥹🥹➰➰➰

Always watching them, even when they don’t know you are. Always making them your number one priority.” He paused, before his eyes widened. “Oh, and the most important thing : loving them unconditionally.”

Minho laughed. “It sounds like you when you’re around me.”

Jorge tilted his head. “Does it ?”

“Yeah, I think so,” Minho answered. “I mean, I don’t know if you love me, let alone unconditionally, but you guide me. Actually, you guide all of us through the mountains, but… it’s different when it’s just me.”

“How’s that ?”

“I don’t think you even notice,” Minho laughed. “During the day, even if we don’t talk, you look out for me ; you glance at me to make sure I’m still here, you quickly put your hand on my shoulder, you hand me a bottle when you see I’m thirsty, you smile at me when you see I’m tired and discouraged… You’re always with me, in a way or another.”

“Oh,” Jorge said. “Hah, you’re right, I’ve never noticed I was doing all of that. But I do know I’m worried about you ; I just didn’t know you could see it.”

“I can, and I appreciate it. A lot.”

i think i really love this dialogue because it reflects how they naturally click in a family dynamic! and ofc i love writing pre-family eheh

Oooh god, that's so hard. Right now, it's definitely one of my demon slayer ones, "Fish Out Of Water" and "Crimson Threads" both hold very special places in my heart. Like zentan and nezuzentan are definitely some of my favorite KNY ships, and i have really fond memories of writing both of those.

"Aren't you scared?" From "Once Bitten" is very high up there purely bc i like that scene a lot. A vampire asking their prey if they're scared in a sorta flirty way is just !!!! Skdksk

Its only a few, but they're still left unpacked, most of them not even opened. Its nearly 2am, but jetlag is a bitch, and Sunny isn't exactly known for his great sleeping habits. Everyone else left the call a while ago— its daytime, where they are after all. They have things to do. The only person left is Aubrey. She's lying on her front, chin on her palm. Even through the screen, he can catch the knowing glint in her eyes. "More specifically, do you wanna talk about him?"

Okay, it's way past my bedtime and I'll hate myself in the morning for staying up this late when i need to go to work, but fuck it. i want to answer this!

3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?

Oooh that's a rough one. If it's like your favorite fic storywise, it has to be Wiretapped Life. I went all out for that fic, and I'm still so, so proud of it.

If it means like a fic that I enjoyed writing the most, it's probably a one-shot where I just sit down and write it like a maniac within like two to three days. It's just so nice to be in a flow like that. Of all of those, the Victorian AU (rotting corpses lay to rest (where flowers ought to bloom)) had the best writing flow of them all. and it shows, because it's proportionally more bookmarked than my other fics.

8. What project(s) are you currently working on?

OKAY. So!! There's one fic I've been calling the "Shimmer AU" and I've been working on it for three years. The reason nobody (except my beta) has read any of it is because I decided very early on I'd complete it in one go and do a "weekly release".

I have since learnt, this method does not work for me (!!), but i still want this to have a weekly release. I'm nearly done with it and I'm aiming for it to be completed around August.

So, what's it about? Well, for one it has its own magic system. And this is the synopsis that's been on my page for a while: Glinda is a graduate of the All Girls’ Academy for Magic and Sorcery, Fae is a homebrewing witch. Their magic could not be more different, and their pull to one another not more enticing.

Then there's another multichapter fic I recently brew up and is now simmering in my brain. That is to say, it's very early stages and I'm still drafting, but the very basic outline is there. I'm incredibly excited to start working on it after I finished writing the Shimmer AU. All I will say for now... it's a multiverse fic and its gonna be juicy 👀

I have shared a few snippets of the Shimmer AU here and there over the years I believe, but I don't think I've ever mentioned this fic actually starts with Glinda/Milla so, here you go:

3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?

Oooh, hmm, I really liked The Feeling of being Loved, though I always lamented not being able to figure out how to continue it. Sin of Greed was fun, but I kinda forced myself to rush through the latter half of the series. Reconciliation has been a lot of fun so far too ^_^

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

Well, I don't know about NEVER, but I am a disgusting sucker for those typical 'arranged marriage with the archduke prince tyrant?!' kind of au for touken or twiyor jskdkf. It requires a commitment I am not willing to dedicate myself to...yet.

8. What project(s) are you currently working on?

There's Reconciliation, which is both much longer and taking more time than I initially anticipated lol, and I will be returning to The Fire that Burns (etc.) eventually, I swear! I am also working on a small project for a Nier Zine I am collaborating with.

I would like to continue that Missing You fic at some point, and if time allows it, I would like to rewrite a few older fics, though maybe that's a waste of time?? Idk?? I just have ideas for how I would've written them differently now.

13. How much planning do you do before writing?

Um....I..imagine it? Repeatedly. Maybe a doodle or two...yh..

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

Ah, jeez, I dunno, that feels too flattering sflskf. Ummmm, Sin of Greed, possibly, I imagined that series quite vividly, though I do have future ideas I would like to see as animes or whatever...

More often than not, I decide on one after I've written it and have a better grasp of what would be most fitting, either thematically or visually. Makes it sound more professional than it actually is, lol.

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?

Mmm...research...hmm...I suppose...synonyms...and the sensation of various wounds, their severity, other very important details like that. And clothes.

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?

Ah, jeez, my memory sucks. Uhh ehh umm let's see...I quite liked this one I wrote recently: The pressure of the city seemed to slip away the further they drove, despite knowing that the chain that kept them there was rattling loudly behind him, promising them their eventual return to the hellscape they call home. I hope it's a good line, lol.

I make it a rule to know how it'll end before I start writing. It's one of those writing rules I took to heart when I was younger and I think it helps! I think...of course, it can always change as it develops.

Which of your Rakidric texts are your favorite? And what details do you love about them?

Oooh, I had to go through them to see which ones I loved writing/was proud of the most!

Barcelona - Barcelona will always have a special place in my heart. I usually write non-AU things, and this was the first attempt at "worldbuilding". I will never not regret cutting it short and ending it "at the best". I dragged it on for too long, and the ending I envisioned is still too faraway in the timeline, which makes me not want to finish it (and it's a pity, because it's already so long). But I just liked the AU rom-com-like awkward Luka and Ivan who just loves him the way he is. And bestie Suba! It honestly felt like writing a TV series, or a sitcom.

(Consign me not) To darkness - A classic hurt|/comfort, but I really felt heartbroken for Croatia after the WC final 2018, so this idea and story came naturally. I can't believe how short the full fic is, considering the story it describes (with the references to Luka's childhood, which I wasn't sure about using - I don't like exploiting someone's background and possible experiences like that, I want to be respectful with what I write etc.), it's just 2,388 words! But I remember how proud I felt back then of going over the 2000 words mark, lol. Can't relate these days. But it was the first "serious" Rakidrić fic - before, I wrote the fluffy silly Third time's the charm and the opening Madness (which I wrote still confusing Luka and Ivan, lmao, I remember constantly checking which is which on photos; and it was more like a teaser for the whole Rakidrić madness that broke out afterwards in the footy tumblr).

His - this was like the most heartfelt, kinda sappy but full of emotions fic. Also the first time (I think?) I explored some...disturbing imagery in the football fics? (he wants to peel of his and Ivan's skins and blend the blood and veins and muscles and everything together, that's him and Ivan, that's them, that's how he thinks of becoming one with Ivan). I remember thinking it was poetic and emotional and all that, I guess compared to the other fics I had written by then (fluff or PWP), it was.

I think I have to put at least one PWP here, because I wrote some with them... I can't even tell which one I like the best - I love the idea behind Never knew anyone in love... (with Ivan and his brother Dejan looking the same, and Luka taking notice), but I also loved using the teasing between them coming from playing for Barca and Real. I would say Més que un jersey for the rivalry-roleplay and dirty talk, or Mr. Rakitić, for the dirty talk and ice play which is something I always wanted to include in my PWP fics but rarely found the right way to...randomly have them have ice?

Honstly, Will you let me? has a special place in my heart since it explores omorashi kink which I kinda.....oooppssss....... And I've been thinking about using this kink/idea - because there's a serious lack of it in football fandom, would you believe that?! - so I was just happy I wrote and published it, bc I was a little ashamed/scared of putting such a kink out there haha. I don't think it's a good or well-written story, it's very self-indulgent, but I have learned to write and publish self-indulgent stories since.

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?

Oooh such a good question. I think I'm gonna say this line from It Would Be So Simple:

"Is it everything you wanted?”

The line itself is very simple, but because of the universe I've delved into and the story I've created between Carrillo and my OC, it feels both wistful and a punch in the gut. At this point in the story, Carrillo still holds a lot of pain and resentment for his wife leaving him, but he also wants the best for her and yearns for her happiness. I can literally imagine this line in my head and it makes me feel all the feels.

Kelly hopped into his Mustang and raced to the hospital faster than Tony had gotten them to some scenes while responding to calls. It was pitch black outside, bright lights emanating from the ED, the only thing lighting Kelly’s path inside.

Hmmm I have a deleted scene from my fic, I Don't Wanna Be Unfair, where McKenzie gets jealous because she thinks a girl at the bar is flirting with Jax, but I decided to cut it because I wasn't ready for them to have that conversation yet. 😂
