I'll never get over the fact that my mother for literal years refused to take me to a real doctor for my acne & instead insisted on making me take all sorts of supplements & expensive creams, which she would get mad at me if I refused to use them bc she spent a lot of money on them. It kept getting worse until I was old enough to got to the doctor myself. I got a few different medications of which nothing worked so I got a referral to a dermatologist & they immediately put me on accutane. She saw my face & listened to me list off everything I'd already tried and was like "yeah we need to go for the nuclear option here". I was on the lowest possible dose for half a year & not only did it all heal, I was pretty much acne free for the rest of my 20s until starting T.

This was at a time when my parents often struggled with money but healthcare was literally 100% free for us. Including all prescription medications. I ended up paying nothing to actually fix my acne issues. After my mother spent literal 100s of €s (back when that was a TON of money) for literally nothing.

It sure taught me a life lesson though.
