how old is hero, physically? they look young, a similar age to the rest of the cast- but why? does she have a say in how old he looks? if so, why did she pick this age? or, if he has no say in it, why do they look that age?

hero is everyone, right? because they're the hero's spirit? i know most of the cast is pretty young right now, but i assume they'll all grow up later, and personally if i was an adult and then my ghost/spirit was a child i would be pretty unhappy with that

He's a young adult, I'd say 25 maybe? Like the kind of age a kid would think is old but when u reach that age it feels like youre a fraud and not a "real" adult

The meta reasons for why are:

- I wanted him to be recognisable as Link, and most of us imagine even adult Links on the younger side of adulthood due to the games.

- Hero's role in the story is inspired largely by some events in my own life. I'm only 22 when writing this so its pretty easy to guess I wasn't very old when those things occured haha.

- It's very important to me that Hylia and Hero's dynamic is read in a very specific way! The things I want to say are very much tied to the idea of a maternal figure and someone who isn't quite independent yet. Again, this is because of me writing from experience.

Of course an older Hero could work, youre never too old to have troubles with your mom. Just that it works better for my intentions this way.

TLDR; She looks like that cause it works the best (in my opinion) for telling a very personal storyline.

But

That doesn't answer the question in universe at all. AND I'll admit I hadn't put much thought into that until your ask! So thank you!

However... The answer for now at least is uh... I dont know why hero in-universe appears like that. It may even be better left open for people to make their own conclusions.

oooh thanks for asking!! i love talking abt hp characters and their relationships with each other ajhkasgfi. warning tho, this is very looooooong.

ok let's start with severus first because i feel like my relationship with him has been the most... turbulent lol.

SEVERUS SNAPE

i was pretty neutral on snape's character when i was first reading the series, perhaps leaning more to dislike. It wasn't until DH where it was revealed that snape was in love with lily the whole time 13 year old me was SHOOK. i became the biggest snape stan and snily shipper. I hated both James and sirius (still loved remus tho lol). and i remember watching so many snape youtubers and yeah i would write praragraphs defending this man and how lily should have chosen him. lmao now u all know abt my snapie past.

However, during my next reading, in about 2018, i began to see snape's flaws more. I was also very active on the wattpad hp fandom (yes shhh ik) and a lot of my friends loved the marauders as characters (they were not in the marauders fandoms, they just liked the characters) and a lot of them hated snape. And then i began to hate snape too lol. However, i really enjoyed reading and watching videos that dissected his character. and i still watched videos from snape stans

i then joined the marauders and atyd fandom in 2021 and now was a pro snape hater. like mans was now the definition of pure evil. Made hating snape a personality trait lol. Though he was the worst of the worst.

it wasn't until late 2023/early 2024 when i became fed up with mauraders fandom and how they fanonise everything. especially considering so many of them stan regulus (which the way they characterise him in fanon is how canon kid snape was depicted anyway) and barty and evan and all those fucking death eaters who were wayyyy worse than snape ever was -- but no, snape is sill for some reason the No.1 evil.

now, i feel like snape is a much more interesting character than people give him credit for, and especially as a kid, was not as bad as marauders fans depict him to be. However, I don't really interact with the snape fandom so much because i feel like they either ignore excuse the shittier things he did as an older teen/adult. I am also of the opinion that James and sev were rivals, and it wasn't a bullying situation but yeah. i wish there were more people who enjoyed both the marauders and severus who didn't make either or both to be saints lol

LILY EVANS

Ok, I'll be honest, Lily's character did not really interest me until I read atyd. To be fair, jkr spent a a lot of time characterising harry's dad and his friends, but we were not given too much info on Lily, and almost no info on if she had any other friends besides severus.

I loved Lily's friendship with Mary and Marlene in atyd, and of course with Remus. and i loved how her personality in that fic to. I don't consider that fic to be canon compliant now and don't agree with a lot of the characterisations but it was still pretty good.

Lily was a bit too sensible in atyd, and whenever we're given descriptions about her from slughorn for instance, or her personality in SWM, she's presented as 'vivacious' and cheeky' so i like to think that she wasn't really a hermione 2.0 but rather more similar to snarky and sassy harry, tho perhaps more popular and well-loved. Her and James were totally academic rivals to lovers omg.

SEVERUS SNAPE & LILY EVANS

ok now onto what i think u really wanted me to address - sev and lily's relationship.

No, i don't think sev was 'obssessed' with Lily, i think he truly loved her but he was also a selfish person. (however tho, how would sev convince voldy to spare harry,, like that was literally all voldy was after like....)

anyways, as kids, they were very close -- maybe a little codependant. I imagine Lily was always facinated with Sev his talk about magic, and to sev, Lily was an escape from his abusive homelife. I think they both may have had a little crush on each other pre-hogwarts.

As they went to hogwarts, they grew apart as they were placed in different houses. Snape was surroundd by pureblood facists which slowly radicalised him, and Lily began making friends in Gryffindor. A war tensions grew, i can imagine snape and Lily's relationship became more tense and strained, and no one knew why they stuck together. But they knew things about each other that no one else did and understood each other in ways no one else could. However, after SWP, it was clear that they were heading down different paths so lily cut him and that was that.

Lily always felt hurt after their break up, but she had supportive friends to keep her afloat. Snape however, was filled with guilt, bitterness and regret and thus became deeply radicalised. I don't think tho that Snape was very high in the death eater rank until the search for harry/prophecy was on.

anyways still mulling things over but yeah, i think they're both facinating and i'd love to see their relationship explored in complexity in more fics!

Favourite canon pairing: Arthur and Gwen were SO cute and I'm happy for them (and their third, Merlin)

Worst pairing ever: Gwen/Lancelot, specifically when he got back because obviously. He wasn't him, she was spelled, and worst of all, there was never any resolution. Still haunted by the fact that everyone expect Merlin (including Gwen herself) really thinks she just. Cheated on Arthur. Heartbreaking

Guilty pleasure pairing: Morgana and Gwen <3 They're so cute and also the HEARTBREAK,,, when Morgana comes back and Gwen pretends to still be her friend and,,,,,,,,, THEM. The guilty part comes from the fact that I know a lot of this ship comes form the "get the women out of the way for mlm ship" mentality, but that's obviously not why I like it soooooo

A pairing you want to see more: Honestly both Morgana/Gwen and Merlin/Morgana. I know everyone loves Arthur/Merlin and they ARE fuckin valid and cute, but I really feel more people should multi-ship because Merlin has SUCH good dynamics with other people, and despite people *saying* they ship Morgana/Gwen there is a suspicious lack of content for them

That pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”: Honestly I feel like I haven't spent enough time in the fandom for this?? I can't think of any, but that might just be because, again, I am a shameless multi-shipper and polyam enjoyer

Favourite non-romantic pair: Gwen and Merlin! I know they had a lil fling early on, but they became such a solid platonic duo and also I think it'd be really funny when they just casually mention that one time they kissed. Hiya, thanks for the ask! Prepare for yet another long ride.

- What would they think of each other’s combat skills/techniques?

It goes without saying that Thragnr and Karrie have a great mutual respect for each other(given that they eventually meet) and they bond over their similarities. The two would no doubt take interest in one another's combat abilities. Ragnar is a true dwarven berserker, it's in his blood. And, similarly, Karrie was a dwarven berserker as well, taught by her father, who was taught by his fathers before him, the true, pure, Cadash bloodline. Even so, Karrie would have to admire Ragnar's skill, because in truth, he has honed and mastered the art of the berserker far beyond her. But despite being a more advanced and masterful berserker than his sun-touched sister, Ragnar is facinated and intrigued by the second skill she acquired. Reavers had always sparked an interest in the Prince, but he was far more set on continuing his family's berserker legacy rather than indulging in a completely unknown and frankly dangerous, chaotic force. What really peaked his interest with Karrie, though, was not simply her role of reaver, but the way she instead added it unto her previous berserker skills. Watching her fight, there was no denying she was a full-fledged reaver, seeing her become completely unhinged, bathing in the blood, getting stronger as her wounds flowed deeper and redder, completely harnessing the raw power of pain. But Ragnar picked up on smaller things, such as the way she carried her axe, the stances she took, the abilities of a berserker twisted into crudeness. To say the least, Ragnar is very impressed, and also very scared.

And the two dwarves, much to Arrow's approval, don't really view blood magic in a bad light. Ragnar, he's more indifferent. He doesn't disapprove, nor does he condone of the use of that dark magic. Given the opportunity, he used blood magic to bring back Isolde's son, using her as sacrifice. This, of course, was with great caution and careful consideration. In the end, all that matters to him is the practicality and the necessity of using blood magic. If it is a far better endeavor than any other presented option, he will seize that chance. And seeing as Arrow Hawke uses blood magic to her advantage, and as a powerful combat skill, Ragnar has no issue whatsoever with her being a blood mage. Karrie, on the other hand, approves wholeheartedly. She was wary of Arrow, at first, but she reminded herself that she and Arrow were both one in the same. Even though she was a warrior, not a mage, Karrie still used blood in a sense. Both of their combat abilities relied on bloodshed, hell. She finds it really thrilling, actually, to be friends with a blood mage. And truth be told, Karrie is indifferent to blood magic, just as Ragnar, if not a bit more in support of it. If she were a mage(oh Maker forbid it) she would most certainly do blood magic. She enjoys dabbling in the forbidden. When talking to Solas about blood magic, the elf was taken aback at how cool the dwarf was with such practices, albeit much to his pleasure. Karrie sees blood magic as powerful, and condones it given that it is used in the right ways. It goes without saying, though, that there are some parts of blood magic that the dwarf doesn't agree with fully.

Arrow sees Ragnar's combat techniques and abilities as boring. Not because they are by any means uninteresting, no, but because he simply followed tradition. Berserker, Berserker, Berserker, oooh, Berserker! What an interesting family lineup, said no one ever, Arrow would snicker. But despite her uninterest in it, she recognizes how skilled he is. Its only to be expected when he follows tradition like such a knob. Still doesn't change the fact that he is a skilled warrior, and a foe to be reckoned with. With Karrie, Arrow is a bit more excited. It sparks her interest when she learns that she's a reaver, using blood to her advantage, but it only excites her more when she discovered the berserker undertones to her fighting style. Not because she likes berserkers, no, take Ragnar for example, but because she's impressed that Karrie combined the two rather than replacing one with the other. She respects how Karrie dabbles in the unknown and dangerous, yet manages to stay true to her roots and herself at the same time.

- Would your warden or Hawke have actually accepted the role of inquisitor if Cassandra had located them as she’d planned to? Would they have been a good leader for the Inquisition?

Ragnar is a solid maybe. In all honesty, he has better things to do, and doesn't want the fate of the entire world in his hands yet again, for fear of disappointing this time around. But, alas, he will come when duty beckons him. If he absolutely had to, he would take up the role of Inquisitor, for the sake of all he holds dear on the surface now.

Hawke, on the other hand? LMAO NOPE. Arrow is fucking done she's fed up Kirkwall was fun and all ahahaha but fuck off Cassandra bitch needs a break once in awhile. She's gotten caught up in enough Chantry business, and the Inquisitor being a blood mage? Yeah she isn't looking forwards to the Chantry's response to that, as much as she'd like to give them a sweet 'fuck you.'

- Who handles responsibility the best? And who handles it the worst?

Ragnar is the most responsible of all, and ultimately has the best moral compass. But, that doesn't mean he handles said responsibility well at all. Disappointing others around him is his biggest fear, and people become more disappointed with the more responsibility one takes on. He is only so responsible because he doesn't want to disappoint anyone, he can't. With that being said, I think Karrie is the best at handling responsibility. She isn't very good at it, by any means, but she certainly beats Arrow. Arrow liked to dodge responsibility at any given moment, if she can, as she'd much rather have fun than be serious. And luckily for her, her work is fun, at least for her. Karrie is reluctantly responsible. At some point, she sighs, says fuck it, and decides that she must take up the mantle, be a pillar. She's the only one strong enough, competent enough. Which plays into her biggest pet peeve- incompetence. She has zero tolerance whatsoever for the weak and incompetent, and often she will take the responsibility upon herself that which others failed to uphold. What else do you expect from the Carta's best warrior?

- Do they share any of the same hobbies?

Ragnar spent most of his life focusing on fighting, honing his skills. He wasn't convinced he needed much else in life. That never left much time for idle hobbies. But after being exiled, and meeting Leliana, the bard sparked an old memory in him. Seeing her play and sing by the campfire reminded him about lessons he had took and a mere child. And he ever so vaguely remembered how to play the violin, a woodland flute. Maybe that was something he could do, something that would allow him to take his mind off of fighting and responsibility for once in his life, granting him the freedom to loosen up. Eventually he saved up for a simple flute, and it proved to work. Though he wasn't any master at the musical arts as he was at combat arts, it gave him what little comfort he could afford, and that was enough for him.

He isn't exactly as creative as Karrie, as he cannot comprehend a world beyond the physical quite like the surface dwarf can, but Karrie seems to share his love for music as well. She plays the guitar every now and then, tries to improve. Her songs are messy, quick, joyful, and yet sometimes sullen. But music isn't her main, most beloved hobby. Karrie has quite the passion for drawing, among other things. But art seems to top that dwarf's list. Like Ragnar, her whole life was devoted to fighting, but unlike him, she found the time to put her energy into other outlets. She doodled on any paper she had, even all over her reports to the Dasher. She brings a field journal with her everywhere, where she presses flowers and leaves, and jots down important notes. A codex of sorts. But more than anything, she loves to draw her surroundings, and important landmarks in her adventures. Even people, at times. Solas will sometimes go through her papers on her cluttered desk, finding drawings of harts, mabari, dragons, ancient temples, runes, even himself. A token of her affection that which he treasured most dearly. After the elf left the Inquisitor following Corypheus' defeat, Karrie would sometimes go through her cluttered desk, almost every time swearing that a few papers containing drawings and sketches were missing...

And, Karrie has a love for reading! Books of all kinds, made up dragon slaying stories, historical novels, books all about cool plant facts. Which is most like Arrow. Besides her obvious pastime of getting wasted and partying hard without a care, along with her suppressed arson addiction, the young woman has a knack for reading. Sometimes, there truly is nothing better to do. And it's more than just reading dark arcane secrets forbidden by the Chantry, she seems to share Cassandra's love for literature. Smutty literature.

Oooh! this is facinating! This had a lot of fun information I know as a sailor and the historical stuff is so fun to learn as well. I want to add one of my favorite sailor phenomenon, which is the ridiculous shortening of words! Here's a couple of my favorite sailing terms and what their unshortened meaning is.

fo'c'sle or focsle is short for forecastle. The focsle can be defined in a couple ways but generally can refer to aftdecks. It can mean the top deck that is in front of the foremast or is sometimes used to refer to the crew's living quarters (which is how I've heard it used in boats I've been on).

bosun or bo'sn is short for boatswain. This term refers to the person who is under the first mate and is responsible for the deck crew. To my eyes, Buttons is the closest we get to a bosun in OFMD.

I know there are more, some less dramatic than others, but it's just fun and silly to consider the ways language is shaped by circumstances!

Sail Names

The Revenge is a square-rigged ship with three masts: the foremast, the mainmast, and the mizzenmast. (The masts are further subdivided into three sections, each with its own name, but this shit is complicated enough already so we’re not going there.) The sails on each mast, from bottom to top, are:

Foremast: foresail, fore topsail, fore topgallant sail Mainmast: mainsail, main topsail, main topgallant sail Mizzenmast: spanker (yes, really), mizzen topsail Before the foremast: fore topmast staysail, jib

The spanker doesn’t follow the naming formula because rather than being square rigged, it’s fore-and-aft rigged, meaning it moves differently and is a different shape.

Sail Anatomy

Each square sail hangs from a horizontal spar (pole) called a yard. (This is what Roach jumps off during Jack’s game of “yardies.”) The ends of the yard are called the yardarms, as in “the sun’s over the yardarm” (time for a drink). The foot of the sail is secured with lines called sheets, as in “three sheets to the wind” (drunk).

Each yard has a specific name based on its location and function. So a sailor wouldn’t just say yard, they’d say main yard or fore topsail yard. This is true of every sail, line, and doohickey on a ship.

Unlike the square sails, the spanker doesn’t hang from a yard but from a gaff (specifically, the spanker gaff). Its foot is secured to another spar called a boom (the spanker boom).

The triangular sails at the bow of the vessel don’t have yards; they’re attached to lines called stays at the top (thus staysail) and to the bowsprit (or its extensions) at the front.

Fun With Sails

So now that we know what they’re called, what kinds of things can the crew do with them? Bearing in mind that the show’s canonical nautical orders are gibberish, here are some suggestions.

Setting Setting the sails means putting them into position to catch the wind and get the ship moving—that is, get it underway. Sailors climb up (go aloft) to the yards and spread out by standing on the footropes (though these ropes probably weren’t in use in the Revenge’s day). If the sail has been stowed (bundled up and tied to the yard), the crew needs to release the clewlines and buntlines to let the sail unfurl, after which they attach its bottom corners to the yard below by the sheets.

Furling The sails are usually furled (rolled or folded up) and stowed (tied to the yard) while the ship is moored, that is, tied to a wharf, quay, dock, or pier—in other words, not going anywhere.

Reefing Like furling, but only partway: to reef a sail is to fold up part of it to reduce the area exposed to the wind. This is done in strong winds to keep the ship stable. To shake out a reef is to release the sail to its full extent again.

Trimming When sailors trim a sail, they’re adjusting its angle to the wind for maximum efficiency. Yards can also be trimmed, by being moved horizontally around the mast or by tilting the yardarm up or down.

Heaving To To heave to is to stop the ship where it is, usually by backing some sails to counteract the rest. The past tense is hove to, as in “Upon seeing Blackbeard’s flag, the merchantman hove to and allowed itself to be boarded.”

Rigging

Ropes in storage are ropes; ropes in use are lines. Lines are tied into different knots for different uses—for example, a hitch is the knot used to tie a line to a fixed object, like a bollard (post).

The order to make [something] fast means to lash (tie) it securely. You can also lash something to something, as in “The hostages were lashed to the foremast.” The order to lash up and stow was a British Navy command to tie up the hammocks and stow them out of the way, usually in netting on the inside of the hull.

Each line has a specific name, like main sheet, fore shrouds, or mizzen topsail halyard. The number of different lines is truly staggering, so I’m only going to cover a few of them here. I’ve already mentioned the sails’ clewlines, buntlines, and sheets. To secure one of the lines after adjusting a sail is to belay the line. (Belay also means to disregard, as in “Belay that order!”)

A line that hoists (raises) something, like, say, a flag, is called a halyard. Cables are the thickest, heaviest lines—e.g., what the anchor is attached to—and may need to be moved using the capstan. (Though the anchor is never said to be hoisted; it’s weighed, despite what Frenchie says.)

Here, Jim is sanding in the shrouds. The shrouds are rows of vertical lines on either side of a mast. They serve to stabilize the mast, so they don’t move, which makes them standing rigging, as opposed to running rigging. Between the shrouds run horizontal lines called ratlines. Sailors use the ratlines as rungs to climb aloft.

Beyond the Revenge

When a ship’s not underway, it’s “parked” at an anchorage, which is any place a ship can anchor—usually a port or harbour, but it could be at sea or off an island.

When there’s a wharf, the ship can be moored, which usually means it’s tied to a short post (bollard) on the platform. Unmoored means untied, adrift—literally or metaphorically. Once the ship is moored, the gangplank is placed to allow the crew to walk ashore. If the ship needs major repairs, it is taken to the dockyard.

If the harbour’s too shallow for a ship to dock, its crew will make their way ashore in a smaller boat called a dinghy (or skiff or dory). These boats are kept on board the ship as lifeboats and to ferry supplies and people back and forth.

The dinghy’s rowers sit facing backwards (astern) to row their oars (not paddles), the flat part of which is called the blade. The benches they sit on are called thwarts, because they’re athwart (perpendicular to) the dinghy’s keel. When in use, the oars sit in notches in the gunwales called rowlocks (or oarlocks in Canada and the US).

If, let’s say, Fang decided to row out in a dinghy, he might take a break from rowing for a bit by resting on his oars. When he found a good fishing spot, he’d ship his oars—that is, take them out of the rowlocks and lay them inside the boat.

Zheng Yi Sao’s Red Flag is a type of ship called a junk. The junk is distinguished by its fully battened sails. Battens are strips of wood, usually bamboo, that were inserted into the sails as supports. These sails, whether fan-shaped or rectangular, were easier to handle in many ways, so a junk needed fewer crewpeople than a square-rigged ship like the Revenge.

Miscellaneous Sailing Lingo

Avast: Stede seems to use this to mean “Hey, I’m a pirate!,” but it’s actually an order to stop whatever you’re doing. I imagine Avast, ye! came to be associated with pirates because it’s what you’d say when boarding a ship: “Drop your weapons, everyone!” But that’s just my speculation.

Ahoy: word used to hail another vessel, as in “Boat ahoy!” or “Ahoy the Revenge!”

Fathom: how water depth was measured. A fathom is six feet down, or six feet of line. League: three nautical miles. A nautical mile was 6,080 feet. (For comparison, a regular mile is 5,280 feet.) Knot: a measure of speed equalling one nautical mile per hour. According to reddit, a ship that’s 150 feet long would have a top speed of about 16 knots.

Flotsam: debris or cargo left afloat after a shipwreck. Jetsam used to mean parts of a ship or its cargo that had been thrown overboard to lighten the load. The distinction was important for legal reasons to do with salvage rights; today they mean the same thing.

Lee: the side that is sheltered from the wind, whether speaking of a ship, land mass, or rock. Leeward and alee mean on or towards this side, away from the wind.

List: when a ship leans to one side, it’s listing Capsize: what a boat or ship does when it overturns in water Founder: to fill with water and sink (not to be confused with flounder, to flail around uselessly)

Pitch, Roll, and Yaw: these describe the motions of a ship. To pitch is to rock between bow and stern. To roll is to rock from side to side (starboard and port). To yaw is for the bow and stern to swivel back and forth.

Episode 6 squirm

It's a good thing tma doesn't do much of sexual encounters and their connection to entities. While I'm sure that's a thing that in any realistic universe would exist avoiding it was a good choice. This statement was *shudder*

Interesting that she had no visible mark on her. Also being repulsed by police stations because the sectioned officers could have helped.

Episode 7 the piper

Wilfred kind of sounds like martin in some way but maybe it's just me assigning poetry to anyone like him.

But he hated apathy which might be very Martin like

Gentle sadness and creeping fear from the music. For violence of war... Is that what it means to immortalize it?

It's really cool that the concept of music in this podcast is associated specifically with war and unwarranted violence. There's a very strong statement in there somewhere that needs to be explored.

God this statement was intense. Lying for such a long time in that trench surrounded by violent death. But what's most interesting is that this statement doesn't feel like a supernatural one and yet... The piper was with Wilfred throughout the various battles and bouts of violence until the moment it was officially over. But in a very subtle way.

The description of the piper is really intense with the 3 faces. I think I missed it the first time but hearing that representation of war and fear is something I'm going to look for in artistic depictions now.

Wait. Who is Joseph Rayner? I know of Maxwell but never heard of Joseph.a victim instead of Wilfred? Collaborator with the Slaughter? Hmmm

I wonder how Accidental it was that the statement from 1922 was filed in the 2000s. Maybe to show that the piper never really leaves and the war never really ends. Ever.

Episode 8 burned out

Wow Hilltop Road already! I forgot how many of the first episodes were so important to the plot later on.

"That side of the road backed onto South Park with fences marking the bottom of each garden." this is wrong btw. Hilltop Road in Oxford does not run along Sount Park but is perpendicular to it, meeting it in the corner with Divinity Road which meets with Morrell Avenue which is the road running along South Park. Just FYI because I had to look this up to get a good picture. But I guess Morrell doesn't sound as exciting as Hilltop (which isn't even at the top of the hill smh)

Ivo lensik describes Raymond fielding as white which makes me automatically think he is not. Just a thought that popped in my mind.

Huh. His family had a history of schizophrenia. And his dad was obsessed with fractals. Being followed by The spiral (all the bones are in his hands) was also part of this story really interesting.

Agnes had mousy brown hair and looked like Raymond! Not red hair ( at least at first) like I pictured. Also she was a hell of a creepy child...

So did he time travel? Seeing the moments of Raymond's end? Seems like time doesn't work right in that place anyway.

Web person being devout church goer is also an interesting touch

Father Edwin Burroughs! I forgot he was here too! The knock reminded me of Mr Spider *shiver*

The priest explaining that the church exorcized demons but what not decisive if ghosts exist was hilarious. Jon dismisses paranormal but asks Martin if he's a ghost is opposite of the church.

Hmmm the web pushing him to cut the tree to uncover box from antique table...

Apple full of spiders ugh. Maybe something web was trapped in there by Desolation and ivo managed free it as Agnes was dying.

"We cannot prove any connection, but Martin unearthed a report on an Agnes Montague, who was found dead in her Sheffield flat on the evening of November 23rd 2006, the same day Mr. Lensik claims to have uprooted the tree." wow that's an obscure thing to find well done Martin!

Jon still looks for credence for this story despite the schizophrenia that could leave him skeptical.

"while I trust Mr. Lensik’s testimony of his own experiences about as far as I can throw a bleeding tree," again Jon with his special brand of jokes.

Episode 9 a Father's love

The Montauk's story! I always thought their family had one of the most tragic ones. The hunt is a really cruel patron with its forced hunger and having other entities use them as tools.

Julia telling the truth of the story to the Magnus Institute instead of the police is also heartbreaking. How desperate and alone she must have felt drowned in that awful literally unbelievable story. The magnus institute feeds off of those people too.

So many of the hunt end up in police it's just... Such a strong statement against that establishment. What do we do to make that less of a horrible, unjust, all consuming system? That feeds on the hunger of some and the abject fear of others? And it doesn't have to be supernatural. It's interesting how season five, of all seasons, is the one that gave us that perspective. The non supernatural one on the subject while the world itself is so far away from the natural. God everything about this idea is so heavy and painful.

I kind of hate Julia's fate because of her background and how much alot of its beginning was out of her control. It's like Daisy. The hunt can never be forgiven no matter how compulsive it is.

The dark that took her mother turned her into part of it? Like the dark liquid?

A dark room to develop his photos of his victims huh? A play on words here.

Oooh they put a heartbeats in the soundscape really cool actually.

So Montauk killed other dark members that tried to leave? For the ritual? Like Julia's mother?

The hunt compelled him to keep the hearts as trophies? which is very self destructive of the hunt to do. Or is it part of the dark ritual with the sacrifices that the heart had to be kept?

I think Montauk was trying to slow down the ritual as revenge that night, rendering the sacrifices he helped create useless. Which is why pitch came after them that night and dissappeared once Montauk finished his ritual.

So Maxwell dissappeared in 1994 from public eye land yet the cult kept working towards a ritual. But now in secret? Their timeline always confused me.

Episode 10 vampire killer

I never noticed Trevor came right after Julia! Oooh this is so much connecting the dots so early on!

Vampires are so disturbing here makes you ever wonder how the hell media like twilight were ever created. But hehe the monster ****er community has always been a vibrant one. Not these vampires tho.

Trevor is so sassy I love his statements. Like Julia it really makes me sad how consumed he became at the end and how awful his death was. Once again the tragedy of the Hunt.

"I taught myself to read, I read as much on the subject as I could, and it isn’t covered often or clearly in those books I have found." can you imagine what kinds of books he might have found during the sexy vampire Era? This is a hilarious picture to paint.

So vampires feed off of blood and not fear which is an interesting creature to have in this kind of universe. Although hunters are also like that but there is still alot of fear and awareness involved with that while the vampires try to conceal themselves until the last moment.

There's alot of mosquito imagery in these vampires which is... Ugh

Also interesting how many time Trevor just uses the vampire's full name. Never shortened and never talked about in another title. Sylvia McDonald this Sylvia McDonald that. Also the other vampire. They always had a name that was psychicly imposed on the victims to be remembered fully. Very Stranger behavior.

Ahhhh the one vampire weakness... Drrrugs.

It's also very flammable which sets interesting precedence to setting unnatural things on fire to make them disappear.

Martin was there when the statement was given which was 2010 and in 2016 he's 29 so he worked there for a while! At least since age 23 perhaps we'll find out even earlier. And he was still scared to be found under qualified after all this time! Oof...

I wonder how draining it is to give a statement that it kills someone who is sick.

The government is in on this! Looking for the teeth Trevor gave the institute... Somehow that strikes me as hilarious in the world building of this podcast. And it really leaves Jon no choice but to concede that there is something to the statement even if he refuses to use the term vampire like Trevor did so freely.

IDK I’ve just seen some out-of-context spoilers but nothing major. So yeah, I AM FACINATED BY WHATEVER THE FUCK THIS SHOW IS DOING and I can’t wait to hear the Psiquel is gonna be (is it the Psi Chosen Part 2, or Zero Two Psified? TIME WILL TELL)

OH THIS IS THE STRABIMON EPISODE!! 👀

Okay so Psi has been doing a lot of fan service so far in the series, bringing back voice actors to reprise their roles for many Digimon, even some obscurer one, and it’s been really nice and cute, wholesome throw backs- but in this episode, we get Strabimon, the Garmmom evoline’s equivalent to Flamon, voiced by Kouji’s VA. That’s... Like, giving us Strabimon at all was already a wonderful thing ‘cause we’ve never seen this Digimon animated-- but like, giving us this unused, theoretical Digimon with a theoretical voice and giving that voice to him is just... That’s like very specific wish fulfillment there, that’s the most wholesome fanservice I can think of and like... I’m really happy? And I’m so touched by the staff going out of their way to do this? When they didn’t even have to?? It’s not even like the Adventure throwbacks where Adventure was a popular season with many beloved characters, no no, Frontier is a relatively unpopular season, and an old season (like NO CHILD is gonna get this reference to an early 2000s kids anime), like, this reference is a stretch?? AND THEY MADE IT ANYWAYS?? Out of sheer love for the franchise??

   Like, despite all the flaws Psi as... The love it shows for the franchise is so strong and overwhealming I can’t help but to love it. Thank you Psi, you bizarre little thing

There were some good episodes here! I had a good time with this binge watch! And I am definitely looking forward to whatever the fuck Psi has up its sleeves and where the hell the sequel season is going- I know next episode is about Algomon but god I fucking hope Algomon isn’t the final boss (and that the next episode is just establishing him as the final boss, though, if Psi does only have like 10 episodes left, there isn’t much time to come up with much else there so... Yeah if that is the case, it feels like a waste of Milleniummon but whatever)

Idk why but I kinda headcanon Makoto and Komaru having mixmatched eyes. Like, one of Makoto's eyes are blue, and one of Komaru's eyes are gold. Like, they think that every part of them is normal, except that, because they got made fun of for it in fifth grade, so they disguised their eyes with contacts. And they got away with it, until Makoto got attacked by a Monokuma. Right in the eye. And Komaru didn't want him to suffer alone, so she let a Monokuma attack her too.

Oooh interesting, I personally can't really see it but maybe in an AU? I can't really imagine those two hating this feature enough to hide it away, esp when normal people seem to be facinated by anything not normal but thats just me

i hate to flood your already overfull inbox but i woke up in a cold sweat after having a vivid dream about this: how would the companions react to Sole loudly announcing that they are going raid post-apocalypse Area 51... and then actually doing it

This one was fun to write! It’s broken up into 3 sections: Sole mentioning the idea of finding an alien, Sole dragging the companion to the location, and then Sole and the companion finding the alien. Please enjoy! I will add a read more when I get home!

FO4 Companions React: Sole Raiding Area 51 & Finding an Alien

Sole and their companion had been spending the morning relaxing in Sanctuary when Sole had an idea. They wanted to take a trip to a nearby location— dubbed “The Area 51 of the Commonwealth— to see if they could find an alien.

Preston: I’m not so sure that’s a good idea. That area is heavily guarded. They don’t take trespassing lightly.

Ada: The probability of finding an alien are slim to none, [sir/ma’am].

MacCready: You really think there could be aliens in there? ...Well, alright. But you’re footing the bill for our losses.

Curie: I’m not zo zure about the existence of extraterrestrial beings, [Madame/Monsieur]. Zat ees all nonsense. Do not put yourself een danger.

Strong: Fine, Strong go. But only if can smash aliens.

Longfellow: There’s never a dull moment with you, kid.

X6-88: That’s a terrible idea, [sir/ma’am]. I sincerely hope you are joking.

Codsworth: Uhm...I’m not to sure about this [sir/mum]...

Danse: You’re going to infiltrate an armed military base for the sole purpose of potentially meeting an extraterrestrial creature? Don’t make me laugh.

Hancock: Yeah? [sarcastically] Well then I’m gonna go in there and clap some alien cheek.

A few hours later, Sole and their companion found themselves standing in front of the abandoned military base. They quickly noticed that it was swarming with Gunners.

Preston: We...we made it! Now to find some alie— shit. [hides behind crate and draws weapon] Gunners.

Ada: If an alien were to be residing here, I am sure the Gunners would have captured it by now.

MacCready: [aggressively whispering] You didn’t tell me you were planning on breaking into here! This is a Gunner hub you d—ing dong [Draws sniper] Too late to turn back now. There’d better be an alien here, bud.

Curie: Oh non, zees place ees swarming weeth Gunners. Shall we use a Stealth Boy, [Madame/Monsieur]?

Strong: [Charges through defenses; goes berserk] STRONG LOOKING FOR ALIEN. SMASH GUNNERS INTO DUST.

Longfellow: Tough crowd [takes swing of whiskey] We can take em [smashes bottle on Gunner’s head]

X6-88: Foolish. Brazen. [vaporizes assaultron] How the hell did I get sucked into this?

Codsworth: [bumps a Mr. Gutsy] Take that, you piece of scrap!

Nick: Well, this isn’t how I expected to spend my Sunday afternoon.

Deacon: [dresses up as Gunner] LAST MISTAKE! END OF THE LINE! KILL EM ALL! KEEP FIRING! I WANT THIS ONE’S HEAD!

Piper: This is gonna make one hell of a headline.

Danse: [shooting turrets] Soldier, this is the most [dodges assaultron laser] stupid and reckless decision you’ve ever made. [decks gunner] I am extremely disappointed.

Hancock: I ain’t about to let them beat me to it [twirls knife] I’m here to claim my turf [slashes Gunner].

When Sole had managed to take out the last Gunner, they looked around for their companion. [Companion] was nowhere to be found.

An anxious Sole checked up and down the halls, in every room, and around every corner. When they had finally reached the end of a narrow, dimly lit hallway, they found their companion staring into a room. When Sole followed [companion]’s gaze, they immediately saw what they were fixated on: a live alien.

Preston: I’m sorry for doubting you General. Maybe you could recruit him to one of the settlements. This creature deserves a proper home.

Ada: Interesting.

MacCready: Holy shucks! They do exist!

Curie: Incredible! Eet zeems extraterrestrials do exist! I must take zome DNA zamples vrom zis zpecimen vor my rezearch, [Madame/Monsieur]!

Strong: [smashes alien with sledge] Puny alien! No match for Strong!

Longfellow: You drink spirits? [alien nods] We’re gonna get along just fine.

X6-88: The BioScience division could use this extraterrestrial creature as a research subject. We must take it back to the Institute dead or alive.

Codsworth: Well then! I suppose aliens are real.

Cait: Oooh yer an ugly fucker, ain’t ye?

Gage: Well I’ll be damned. They do exist.

Nick: Just when I thought I’d seen everything.

Deacon: Wow! It’s even more bug-eyed up close! I wonder if it’s squishy?

Piper: Woah, I’ve never seen anything like it! [snaps picture] Excellent! This is going to be a killer story.

Danse: Take this one alive, soldier. The Brotherhood could use his knowledge of intergalactic jet propulsion systems.
