It's rare that anyone here receives mail from the outside, but this morning I was passed a parcel that I was told came on the last complete shipment.

It's a flower. Fragile enough that I'm sure it wouldn't have survived entry if not for the fact that the parcel had it locked in suspended animation. I don't know what to think about receiving it- the captain didn't know where it came from, and the person sorting it was paranoid about it being an attempt on my life, for why would anyone send something to me in particular if not to harm, but when we opened it was this flower. It smells like...

I've been reading this book lately, sent to me by a good friend in the House of Water. She told me I need to read for fun sometimes, not just heavy political works, and I told her I have no taste for fiction, so she sent me a history of flower language. In it, it says that when people landed on Karrakis, they found a world that does not support the kinds of plants that flower like this- the insects and plants there simply did not grow that kind of dependence on each other, and so all of the flowers that the people brought had to be hand-tended and pollinated. This made flowers a symbol of fantastic wealth, in the early days, a symbol that you had the space and time to dedicate to their care, or more often the support staff to do it for you.

That early nobility prized flowers above all else for their rarity and exotic beauty, and so turned it into their symbol. This is why the House of Glass favors the marigold- Ispahsalar was the first planet colonized after Karrakis, their world was a font of great wealth and much kinder to their favored flowers, and this became a thing for them to flaunt.

I wonder if we're like them, in a way. Where I grew up, no plants grew. The walls were barren and dark. Now that we live above, I have seen so many people tend their flowers so dearly, even when they aren't sure about their care, even when the rational might say that space is better spent on vegetables. One of the barricade runners called this "very Karrakin" of us, which I didn't know how to respond to at the time, but it's true, isn't it? Even in conditions like these, where the path seems uncertain and we are celebrating our ability to finally work to help ourselves survive and not just stuff the pockets of others, we labor to make flowers grow.

It reminds me of an old protest song. It is good to fight to survive, but we must also remember that we need beauty, too. Let us remember that.

Oh what? You dont get enough appreciation if my ask got you like that! Your stories are awesome!! While i will shamelessly admit its the oc x reader thing that lure me in, the way you love your characters sm that you keep developing them is exciting for me too! Before sending my previous ask i read all the webtoon, while im really lost (i understood it after few reread) uphill daisies, the lovecraft one is very fun and so cute! Lovecraft is my fav webtoon of yours. While I, once again shamelessly, feel sad if there's no reader content (im needy of their attention and need to be included LOL) i understand how hard it is to include a reader into your projects and i also understand if you want to grow your characters as their own series rather than fanservice characters and to be honest! Im excited with lovecraft series (im taking my time absorbing uphill daisies T—T) take your time writing though! Drawing multiple webtoon with such complicated world building and lots of character must be difficult and time consuming, cheering for ya!

What better way to market a series if not to make readers fall in love with them? Shameless (x GN Reader) fanservice! And as for the lack of reader content, it kinda is true in UD because it's meant to be a mystery/crime series buuuuuuuttttt for the CatboX series, there'd be 'readers' appearing in the series.

LCH will have approximately 6-7 readers (although they are more of a character, I still consider them to be a romanced readers), with almost all the main characters paired with at least one reader! The one with the most spotlight is expected to be Scribe (Caelus) because he's my favorite.

As for another unpublished CatboX series would be 'The System Forbids' for the 2025 contest (if I have enough time to spare after finishing at least 3-5 episodes of UD). The OG novel protagonist (aka FMC) is pretty much the reader with the amount of romcom going on although it's not the best x reader.

Identity Crisis is pretty much Blue with reader except it's girlfriend now. His character is still problematic (yandere?) in the series [IC has no chance of being republished for now]. Yulian is Yulian. He's also problematic and I can kinda see the slander he'll receive if UD is published until the ending.

Why am I yapping (slaps slaps slaps), anywayyyyyyy words can't express how much I love your support. Thanks for sparing your time to read my current works (and years years ago work…). It really motivates me to keep going and makes me know there's still someone waiting and reading my work.

For you getting confused over UD, lemme tell you something, it’s because the second episode is a bad pacing decision, and makes no sense to be slapped out of nowhere without a proper continuation. The only good thing from that webtoon right now is the opening so I am amazed if you can even understand a bit of it (because I won't as a reader)

I've always had the dilemma of making my webtoon. Most times I wish I could just tailor myself according to what's trending (like Yulian or Blue) but I ended up working on other characters and feel bad for providing 'who the fuck' stories. Another concern is that the 'reader' is now an established character with personal lore to the point it no longer feels inclusive… not to mention I mostly make GN content, it kind of concerns me how every GN reader here would feel (Since it's all just female and I have no plan to add new readers).

Regarding mischaracterization, I understand you sm anon TwT. Even I as their mama sometimes OOC them! And if I'm not OOC-ing them, I'd cringe reading the answers to asks despite being in character (pls why are you so wattpad-y). It's a struggle but I don't mind reading it, I've read countless mischaracterized Yulian in my asks haha. (So sorry, he's not an exemplary father, the last in the ranking board if he even made it to the leaderboard…)

My plan currently is to write more content according to what webtoons I'm going to publish.

Spicy Ramen, Sweet Love

Cater x Reader HC w/ Small Cater-Lore theories

·       Despite how carefree he acts, when it comes to asking you to go on dates with him, it takes him a week to get over his initial nervousness

·       He constantly worries whether you would like to go, used to using the excuse of wanting a buddy to take pictures with on magicam before the two of you started going out

·       So, when he tries to ask you if you would like to go to a famous ramen restaurant and try their spicy ramen, he panics a bit on the inside, not sure if you would be up for it or not

·       He quickly adds on the end that it’s totally okay if you didn’t want to go and that both of you could head to a famous bakery that’s been trending on Magicam only to freeze and gape at you when you agreed

·       Cue him giving you a rare, honest yet bright smile when he looks at you in joy, happy to know that you wouldn’t mind going with him as well getting time to spend some alone time with you. After all, it doesn’t help how Ace and Deuce would constantly spy on the two of you or get in the way when he tries to hang out with the person he loves

·       Like, please, ADeuce, senpai isn’t going to do anything bad to you so let him have some time with you, yeah? Give some respect to your senpai

·       On the day you and Cater go onto the ramen date, he’s excited and happy

·       Not only would he be eating his favorite food, he’s able to eat it with the person he loves with his whole heart and brag about it on Magicam! 3 birds with one stone!

·       He takes a bunch of selfies and pictures while standing in line, posting some of them on Magicam but saving most of them in his private gallery since they included you in it

·       As he does this, he would continue to check up on you, constantly chatting away with you while holding your hand so the two of you wouldn’t get separated from the crowd

·       It’s easy to tell how excited he is, honest excitement radiating off of him unlike all those other times where he would put up a façade in from the rest of the students

·       Yes, around you, he’s more direct and looked more relax – more like true self. However, it was often rare for him to get to enjoy what he actually like

·       No worries about his image, rules, or any dorm members spying on the two of you – today is the day he’ll enjoy to the fullest!

·       By the time the two of you got in and seated, Cater would be on the roll and tell you all the popular toppings and side dishes that people seemed to get the most with sparkles in his eyes.

·       He also reminds you that you could order something other than the spicy ramen, only to feel touched and lucky to have you as his s/o when he hears that you wanted to order the same thing as he does because you want to get know him more

·       When you giggle, he snaps out of his excitement and flusters a bit, realizing how he was chatting about the food there nonstop

·       He starts apologizing for getting way too ahead of himself and seemingly ignoring his one and only s/o, but when you comfort him by telling him how happy you were to see this side of him, he ends up blushing

·       Cater doesn’t even bother taking the usual number of pics when it comes to food once the two spicy ramen comes out

·       One pic with the two ramens alone, one pic of a solo ramen, and one secret pic of the ramen with you in the background to remind him of the date

·       Right after that, Cater starts eating the ramen and ends up sighing out of pure bliss. To think that his favorite food could taste so good – savory, salty, and especially spicy. It was totally worth the wait

·       Once he gets over how good it tasted, he looks at you and asks if you had taken your first spoon yet

·       Hearing the answer to be no, Cater encourages you to try it, looking at you to see your reaction to the ramen

·       He may like spicy ramen but he came here because he wanted eat it with you. He wanted to share the experience of eating really good ramen since 1.he wants to spend time with you, 2.he wants to make a happy memory with you, 3. he loves you

·       He didn’t bring you here just so he wouldn’t be a lone and make himself look cool on magicam

·       He honestly just wants to be with you since you guys don’t get to hang out with each other a lot on campus

·       School work, club activities, and Heartslabyul’s rules really prevented you two from spending time together. With the addition of your friends’ interference? Is it really too much to ask that he could hang out with you by himself?

·       Like how people would want to share the things that they like on Magicam, he wants to share them with you. Of course, asking you before hand because he knew that everyone wouldn’t like the same  thing even when trying something new out

·       It really doesn’t help how back at home too, he’s rarely able to do the things he wanted when his sisters would force him to act in certain ways and like certain things while forcing him to do most of the house work as “the guy of the house”

·       So, when he sees you eat the ramen and tell him that it tasted good, it makes him happy from the bottom of his heart

·       He goes back eating the ramen while giving small comments here and there about it, not realizing the trouble you were having when eating it

·       It’s when Cater is half way down his ramen that he hears the small sniffles and coughs

·       Snapping his head up, his eyes widen before he gets up and slides beside you as try to wipe the tears from your eyes

·       Quickly ordering milk*, he wipes your tears away with a napkin and gently pat your back, asking if you were okay

·       You manage to nod and try to comfort him you were fine, that you accidentally swallowed to quickly. Yet Cater grabs both your wrists and have you face him, telling you not to lie when that wasn’t it

·       He gives you a worried and hurt look, asking why you didn’t tell him that you were weak to spices

·       Cater could feel his heart break a bit while in the same time warmed up when you reveal how you didn’t want to let him down or ruin the date he was obviously excited for

·       To see him be so happy and wanting to continue seeing him smile from the bottom of the heart, you couldn’t bring it upon yourself to tell him

·       He argues back how he told you about ordering something other than the spicy ramen since he didn’t know how well you could handle the spiciness, only to be reminded that you wanted to eat his favorite food to feel closer to him

·       Cater ends up looking up and covering his now-tomato face with both hands, releasing a frustrated yet endearing sigh

·       He couldn’t get himself to get mad at you when you were so cute and actually cared for him that much

·       Wrappings his arms around you, he pulls you into a hug, kissing the top of your head and mumble that next time, you should tell him what your limits are so something like this won’t happen during the next date

·       Keeping an arm around you, he then grabs the cup of milk that just arrived and hands it to you so you could drink it

·       Afterwards, despite how much you try to persuade him not to, Cater orders the restaurant’s other famous ramen along with a side of gyoza for you

·       Cater hushes you, saying how it wouldn’t be fair for him to enjoy his food when you can’t. That and he wants to spoil you for being a good s/o to him

·       Once you two finish your food, he tries to treat you to dessert only for you, this time, successfully getting him not to by kissing him on the lips and say you wanted to go back to campus

·       He ends up just doing that, holding your hand in his the whole entire while stealing small kisses from you either on the cheeks or lips along the way

* Note: Japanese traditional ramen restaurants don’t have individual tables but has a bar table where you sit on a bar chair and get the ramen you ordered right in front of the area they cook it. For the sake of this hc and the fact Twisted Wonderland is more western styled, the restaurant is formatted like a western restaurant. It’s also why Cater was able to order a drink from the first place because you wouldn’t be able to in a traditional ramen restaurant

since my answer is on the negative side, i placed it after the “keep reading.”

if you feel partial to the later seasons of csi or excited for this reboot, then you may want to skip over this one.

i don’t mean to harsh anyone’s mellow; i’m just nervous about a lot of things.

so, ngl, i am incredibly wary of this potential reboot and think there is a far greater potential for everything to go wrong than to go right.

my biggest fears are doylist in nature:

i worry about what will happen to grissom and sara if the negotiations with billy and jorja are only partially successful, with one signing on for the reboot and the other not.

i worry about the “facing an existential threat that could bring down the crime lab” show premise, which sounds contrived, top-heavy, and difficult to (as flannery o’connor would say) “get away with.”

i worry about the fact that grissom and sara are---from the sounds of things---the only returning characters from the original show (because, lbr, for as much as they’re my faves, i also love catherine, nick, and greg and don’t know that the show will feel complete without the other original members of team graveyard there in any capacity).

i worry about the new characters meant to surround grissom and sara, both in terms of whether or not they’ll gel with grissom and sara and have chemistry as an ensemble AND how they’ll be treated by the narrative; of particular concern is the fact that three of these four characters are supposed to be poc, and csi does not have a great track record when it comes to avoiding racist tropes.

most of all, i worry about the overall quality of the writing and the production values.

frankly, after billy’s departure in s9, the original series very quickly became not good™, and i fear that that trend will only continue with the reboot.

the whole reason i fell in love with the original series between s1 and s7 was that it was an intelligent, narratively innovative, character-driven drama dressed up in the clothing of a crime procedural.

but in the later seasons, csi dumbed down. it turned formulaic. it forewent character development in favor of---i don’t even really know---spectacle, i suppose. it literally became one of a dime-a-dozen crime procedurals, identical in timbre, tone, and low production quality to its sister shows csi: miami and csi: cyber (and even to its stepsister show, ncis, to which it was related by way of former showrunner don mcgill).

i know some people really enjoyed the later seasons, but, frankly, i’m embarrassed by them. s10 to the series finale just didn’t feel like the same show i fell in love with, and while some of the change can be accounted for by cast turnover, a lot of it has to do with the writing.

it just got bad.

and the bad was there in “immortality.” 

and the bad was there in cyber.

and a lot of the producers for this new show are the same ones who were there in those later seasons (and who worked on cyber). 

so if they bring in any of the same writers---or even just maintain the same production values from the last few seasons of the original show---then there’s a high probability that that badness is going to carry over into this new csi: vegas.

and i’m to the point in my 25+ years of fangirling that i’d rather my otp be left alone than subjected to bad writing.

---which brings up my watsonian fears, namely:

i’m worried they’re going to write something deeply dissatisfying for grissom and sara.

could be a breakup. could be just a really dumb take on what they’ve been up to and how they’re living their lives, five years on from the events of the finale. could be ooc nonsense. could be retconning things from the original series that i really liked or feel are indelible to their characters and relationship. could be rehashing old storylines again and again without ever really adding anything new.

i just don’t want to see my favorite characters misused, is all.

and i’m deeply worried that they will be.

i hope my fears are unfounded. i hope that this reboot is actually really good. i hope it’s a return to s1-s7 prestige form. i hope it’s smart. i hope it’s in character. i hope it’s romantic. i hope it gives us lots of wonderful new gsr material to analyze and work with. i hope it makes me fall in love with csi all over again.

but there are just so many variables that i can’t get my hopes up too much, you know?

gsr is like a fragile object: the more it’s moved around, the greater the chance it might break. so if the production team can’t be careful, then i’d rather they not take that happy ending down from the high shelf and mess around with it. they have to really know what they’re doing and have a good, compelling reason to do it---a story that begs to be told. otherwise, they should just leave well enough alone.

anyway.

sorry to be so anxious and negative. 

like i said, i don’t mean to dissuade anyone from their excitement. if you’re looking forward to vegas, then that’s awesome. i truly do hope it turns out well.

3. What current rp trend do you hate?

Ooh, I have a few. In no particular order:

- Blogs where the rules, muse info, and mun info are not easily accessible. If I have to click around various moving icons to find what I think a rules page should be, I’m less inclined to want to engage. I prefer rules on pages (and linked in a pinned post) to a google doc but I can use either. I just hate when the blog layout is so stylized that this information is not easily found.

- Replies with gifs. I’m not terribly picky about icons (especially for canon characters. And for OCs that don’t use a canon FC, I understand that it can be difficult to have enough icons with their expressions), but I dislike gifs in replies just because it causes my feed to load slowly.

- Writing styles that are just difficult to read. Double small text, multiple spaces between words, etc. I prefer third person past tense for my own writing but I won’t hold anyone to that, but I need to be able to read posts and replies.

- Self-deprecating attitudes when it comes to writing. It’s hard to be confident all day, every day, in your skills and portrayal but I see more and more blogs insisting they’re terrible to the degree of “I don’t know why people stick around for my trash writing but thank you!” It’s your muse and your interpretation. Own that shit! Because no one will be a bigger cheerleader for your muse and your writing than you. 

- Shyness in being afraid to reach out. Approaching new people is not easy, but the more you don’t even try to send memes, reach out in messages or discord, or find some other way to interact, the less likely you’ll get interactions. It’s flattering to be approached, for sure, but the trend of being so shy and afraid of others to reach out needs to stop. We’re all nerds writing about fictional characters we love. 

- Sending anon hate. I don’t think any more needs to be said about this.

- Unless the muse is a Danganronpa canon character, automatic friendship and knowledge about my muse without plotting first. I know there’s the various memes that go around to the likes of “We don’t need to write our characters meeting for the first time!” or “Let me know straight up if our characters can ship!” I like growing those bonds throughout threads, especially if I’m writing with a canon character from a different fandom. Everyone portrays their muses differently and my muse may not react the same way to one portrayal of a muse versus another. Of course, chatting OOC and plotting can help streamline this process along but it’s more of an annoyance when it comes out of nowhere, because first meeting interactions aren’t terribly popular.

- When muns tag long IC posts with a trigger warning (specifically because it’s a long post). For me, my favorite type of long post to see on my dash are long IC posts, in contrast to images, gifsets, memes, etc. I get it if long posts just make the feed more difficult to load, but why should writing length be a trigger?

38.  What advice would you give to someone new to rp?

This could go two ways, being new to RP in general or being new to Tumblr RP. So I’ll try to go over both!

- If you’re interested in playing a canon muse, know that muse and their fandom very, very well. Play their games, read their books, watch their shows. If it’s a popular fandom, you will likely be interacting with other muses from that fandom who will expect it from you. If not, you might just sell other muns on checking out your fandom by your portrayal!

- Unless you’re confident you can handle it, do not take on too many muses at once. Doubly so if you’re in a popular fandom(s). Keeping up with threads, sending asks/memes, doing promotion, queueing content...that all takes a significant amount of time, not to mention writing for several different characters and voices. Start with one and see how it goes, maybe try a test muse here and there (maybe with a meme prompt?). If you’re able to keep up with it all, then make a second blog or add more muses. It’s easy to get overwhelmed fast when you’re just excited to RP for the first time and want to try everything all at once.

- Lurk. Lurk where you want to be roleplaying. If that’s tumblr, go through the applicable RP tags for your intended blog (Are you indie or wanting to join a group? What about fandom? If you’re writing an OC, which sorts of fandoms or mediums do you want to write them in?). Get a feel of not only what muses are out there, but some of the more accepted conventions of tumblr roleplaying: see how others set up their about pages, their rules, their verses, etc. Find out how people are interacting (plotted starters? memes? spontaneous asks?). It’s easy to sign up for an account but I’d recommend spending some time researching how different platforms approach roleplay. When I started on tumblr for both indie and group RP, accounts like @rpedia​ were very helpful.

- Decide, at least to start, what your rules, limits, and interests are. Maybe you’re underage or just not interested in smut, make sure that’s in your rules. Maybe there’s a fandom you don’t want to interact with, make sure to list it. Are you only interested in one-liner responses or do you want to write multiple paragraphs (or both!)? How quickly do you want to respond to threads? And if you want to participate in shipping, that’s a whole different set of things to consider. Before jumping into the tags, threads, and reaching out to people, having at least the beginnings of your rules, your muse info, your mun info (age and mun name/pronouns as the bare minimum), and possibly your verses should be available for potential partners to peruse. 

- But still be flexible. Your rules can change and your interests can change. This happened to me with my shipping preferences and I’ve updated my rules over time to reflect that. I’d also add ‘Be open-minded’ to this as well: interact with muses from other fandoms and OCs. Try new friendships and possibly romantic relationships you might not have considered for your muse when you decided to write them. I’ve found that being open to all sorts of interactions brings some fantastic muses, writers, and often friends into your life.

- Do not be discouraged when you’re first starting out and don’t have too many interactions. Especially if you’re writing an OC, a canon character in an unpopular fandom, or you’re just plain new to the RP scene (in general or on any platform). It takes awhile to appear in the tags and to grow your network. Post drabbles, post headcanons, follow accounts you want to write with, and don’t be afraid to reach out to potential muns. For the most part, many of us are very easygoing because we know what it’s like to start in this hobby!

- If someone says they do not want to write and/or ship with you, do not take it personally. They may not care for your muse, your fandom, your writing style, your portrayal, your content, or just the ship in general. You, the mun, are writing your muse the way you want to and there’s nothing wrong or bad about it, but it might just not work for the other person. There are always plenty more people to write and ship with. But there’s no use getting angry, begging for them to change their mind, or worse, slander them on your writing platform (or off it). Just take it in stride.

- And most importantly, read (and watch and play, but especially read) and write. It is very easy to get writer’s block or just feel like you cannot match someone’s length. But I suggest writing something you want to read, and how to do that is to read something you want to read and practice, practice, practice. I find movies, TV shows, and most games can give great plot ideas, but when it comes to putting those ideas into words? Nothing beats the written or audio word. You don’t have to immerse yourself in anything particularly highbrow that’s found in a lit class, either. Just indulge in writing styles, plots, and characters that inspire you and your muse, and then just write. Drabbles, headcanons, replies, starters, writing frequently keeps you in good practice. That might be every day, that might be every week, but the more you keep doing it the more it’ll improve. And then it’ll feel less like a chore.

- But that being said, take a break when RP is more of a chore than it is fun. You might be burnt out on a variety of things, but don’t forget to tell your partners!

A Hot Take on j//nerys

*posting this as a separate post bc tumblr’s being dumb as hell* 

First of all, anon, thank you very much for this ask, because BOY OH BOY have i MANY FEELINGS about the magical targcest ship that is j//nerys.

This is about to be a long ass post. Also, includes spoilers to Season 8 Ep 1 (I’ll tell u when!)

First of all, when watching Season 7, I could not find myself shipping J and D. Like...I can see what D&D tried to do with the buildup and the chemistry (like the cave paintings and Jon Chilling with Drogon), and idk if they meant to make it so awkward and stunted, but it was. I felt -1000000 chemistry in between those two characters, frankly speaking. I could see some of it nearing episodes 6 and 7 if I squinted, but I was just kind of blown away by how I absolutely could not get behind this ship that the show has supposedly been leading up to for seven seasons.

At that point, I did kinda believe in Political!Jon because it made more sense for his character rather than falling in love with Dany “White Savior Complex” T. Before watching S8 Ep1, I already didn’t think jonerys was going to be endgame, even if they were canon for the time being. It was just such a stilted relationship and the Dark!Dany was coming in STRONG. But after watching 801, may I just say…

Jon Snow is infatuated by D. Maybe even in love with her. But he absolutely does not love her.

Let me start with the distinction. J is infatuated because he’s almost maybe even obsessed. He knows her as the Breaker of Chains, the Mother of Dragons, and all these mythical things that her title is, and combined with the fact that she swooped in to save him when he was going Wight Hunting, I think it’s just a bunch of savior idealism mixed in with a tad bit of Stockholm Syndrome. Not to mention, I think he’s being blinded with his obsession of finding more allies to fight against the AotD, and he’s willing to overlook all of her many, many faults to get there. He’s thinking very short term right now.

And honestly? I think that this infatuation is an ongoing trend with Daenerys’ lovers. None of them truly love her as an equal, except Drogo probably. They are besotted with her. Jorah, Daario, and mayyybee even Drogo to an extent -- they don’t love her, they are in love with her.

So does this kill Pol!Jon? Mayhaps. I think, actually, that Jon started out with those Pol!Jon motives in season 7, and I think he sticks to them up until Eastwatch (if his lukewarm reactions to D and clear annoyance with her has anything to say about it). To me, when watching Eastwatch, it was like a flip was switched. Suddenly, so suddenly, Jon was bending the knee to this woman who swooped in and saved the day. And I think his whole “let’s all be truthful once and for all” spiel in Dragonpit is sort-of evidence as to the falling of his Pol!Jon motives. (tbh, I can see how it could actually bolster the Pol!Jon argument, but it’s irrelevant).

Admittedly, this was all conjecture in my head. Up until Season 8. And BOY oh bOY did this episode feed me.

I know a lot of people felt as if Jon was rather ooc in 801, and I agree. I think that’s due to his adoration for Dany. Not sticking up for Sansa when Dany threatened her? Asking Arya to take Dany’s side and making that little jab at Sansa for thinking she’s the smartest person in the world (btw, she absolutely is)? Generally being complacent as hell?

I think, in all those moments, he’s warring with himself. On one hand, angel-on-his-shoulder Jon knows that family should come first, that he should fight and stand up for the ones he loved. On the other hand, he’s desperately trying to justify his infatuation for D. He’s grasping at straws, and I think he’s scared of the fact that he is. I think the most telling part of this is when he tries to justify D’s murder of the Tarlys (AND, might I add, he doesn’t even know that she burned them alive yet, just that she killed them. Oh, i cannot WAIT for this tea)

Just...watching that scene [I’ll put a pic when I can get one]. Jon begins by looking confused and worried as hell. He’s beginning to look past his infatuation and see the truth. And he really tries to defend her, he does -- “I’ve had to murder people before” or whatever he says -- but Sam CALLS him the fuck out. And let me tell you? In that fucking scene, Jon doesn’t look angry. He looks scared.

And OOF that scene with Sansa? “Did you kneel for the North or for love?” (I’m paraphrasing, sorry if it’s not accurate)

Jon hesitates. He knows, in his heart of hearts, that he’s supposed to be doing this for the North, and he’s trying to justify his infatuation with Dany and marry the two, but it isn’t working.

And the “Did you ever have faith in me?” I think Jon truly thinks what he’s doing is right. Or it could be right. He’s may be looking for Sansa’s validation, partially, because at this point even he’s unsure of what he’s doing, but that’s a little tinfoil. 

Now, on to explain the existence of J//nerys moments that don’t involve the two characters themselves..

Davos, Varys, and Tyrion talking about a marriage alliance. I’d be lying if if I said I was surprised by it. And I don’t blame Davos for trying to push it. In an ideal situation if D was an actual good person, it would make sense. But she isn’t, and Jon doesn’t love her. Not to mention I find it kind of funny that they were looking at the pair and then we find out D’s just whining abt how Sansa doesn’t like her. Very romantic.

I think that scene was necessary for two reasons. I think they might add in a push for a marriage alliance in Ep 2, when I predict that the tensions btwn Jon and D will begin, and then Jon just reveals it can’t happen because he is, ta-da, a Targaryen. And then D will go back to Dragonstone before the Battle of Winterfell while leaving her armies behind (which people are predicting). But second of all, that scene was absolutely set up for Varys’ last line -- “Nothing lasts.”

A very purposeful line. A very purposeful shot to J and D as Varys says that line. This, more than everything else, confirmed that no matter how canon j//nerys might seem now, it’s never going to be endgame.

Now for the dragon joyride scene! Yay! Let’s take a break in the middle of literal war preparations and ignore an alliance about to fall apart at the seams to go chill at a waterfall that should be frozen over!

Honestly I thought this whole scene was such fanservice. There was no emotional aspect to it, no swelling music or long-awaited release. But D&D put it in there, using their precious screentime for a reason.

1. I think it shows Jon “embracing”, or lack thereof, his Targ side. It’s very clear he is not made for it, and he is not enjoying it. When Dany first rode her dragons, she did so with ease. Jon is absolutely not having it. I think this goes to show in some little way that no matter Jon’s blood, he’s a Stark. Or maybe it’s showing a melding between his Stark and Targaryen side. Idk. either way, there wasn’t an ounce of romance in that scene that didn’t seem forced

2. Foreshadowing for Dance of Dragons 2.0 much?? I think this is very much an introduction to Rhaegar-staying-with-Jon and knowing that Jon can control him

3. Oh my god was the romance one-sided. D instigated all the romance, she instigated the kiss. Admittedly, Jon obliged, but uh...his whole kiss while staring at Drogon? I???? What??? Ah, yes, very romantic????

I love D staring at Jon with all this love (I do think she loves him, and his betrayal will turn her to Dark!Dany, but more on that later) and Jon just trying his best! Keep your queen warm! uwu!!!!!!!!!!! 

PHEW! That’s all the meta-y thoughts I have on j//nerys. I’m also beginning to think that j//nerys is the Bad version of Ygritte and Jon? As in in both cases, I believe Jon began by trying to infiltrate the enemy party and pretending to be in love, but then actually truly falling for the girl in Ygritte’s case and falling in infatuation in D’s, and ending up having to betray her because it was never going to last in the first place. Also, cave/waterfall parallels maybe. That being said, Ygritte and Jon is far, far healthier and balanced, and this is just a crack theory, so don’t hate me on this one!!!

I really found it funny how j//nerys stans after 801 were frantically giffing the dragon joyride and makeout session bonus pack and blatantly ignoring how the entire plot of the story was pointing to Dark!Dany and the strife btwn them. Also, I could literally do an entire other post about Dark!D and how I absolutely hated her in 801 and then another one about jonsa, so if anyone’s interested, lmk!

TLDR: Jon has feelings for D but it’s not even close to love, it’s infatuation at best. Pol!Jon happened initially, but then faded away.  j//nerys is hella one-sided atm and even if jon truly loves D, it’s 101% not going to last longer than like ep 3. Also not mentioned but if D insults Sansa one more time I’m going to kick her ass.

Sure, I think aesthetics aregreat outlets to demonstrating outside of screenshots and prompts what yourcharacter is about in an array of colors, art, or examples. It’s beautiful.

4.     How do you explain rp to someone in the real world?

Hahah- I don’t, but I would probably compare it to my lovefor literature and writing if I had to. I’m writing stories and adventures.

I don’t have a preference!

I write female muses because it is simply easier for me to put myshoes in the shoes of a female muse. For obvious reasons I should hope. However,I have written with a male oc in the past. I want to, just haven’t found theright dynamic yet for ffxiv. I had a male Au Ra by the name of Xathun- but nowhe is simply my retainer that brings me stuff he deems is shiny.

I think they are both useful topoint out harmful individuals who have harmful or greedy intentions – andharmful because some call-out posts I believe are just posts to continue a potstir off the platform itself or off the drama seeping from another dms. Thereis a time and place for all things.

9.     What is your opinion on exclusivity? Do you practice it? Why / why not?

I think exclusivity iscompletely up to those who choose to practice it. I only practice it on whetherI am comfortable. Very few people can make me feel uncomfortable- but my guthas yet to fail me in this. I will not RP with anyone who makes meuncomfortable or if they are just looking for ERP. I’m not about it.

10.   Have you everhad a bad experience with commissions? As either someone who makes them or assomeone who buys them?

I have not had a bad experiencewith commissions. I really need to seek out one.

In this community, I have onlybeen involved in one instance. It was during my first few months joining FFXIV,super early on. A RPer tried to guilt trip me for not responding to them forone day. One day caused a lot of drama from someone else’s greed and possessivenature.

I don’t regret it. It just demonstrated another example for me to be wary of everyone’s intentions. Unfortunately. It isthat split-second decision that you want to think the best in everyone that brings the failure. Oops.

13.   Have you everthought about leaving rp? What caused it? What changed your mind?

I probably considered leavingRP when I was leaving a forum base that I had invested eleven or so years of mylife into. I had grown so much through it and watched as it died out bit by bitonly for trolls to really remain. None of the inspiration was there and noone truly seemed passionate about anything but bars. Taverns. 

I changed my mind when I joinedFFXIV. At first I played the game because it was something to do. I wasbored and things were dying down for me. I have loved the FF series for such along time, so I thought, why not? Screw the pay wall. I just played through AtRealm Reborn and focused that down in a binge. Over time I got the itch Iwanted to write, and that had propelled me right into the RP crew in Siren.Then that branched onto the Tumblr. Creating my blog has led me to meet such wonderful people along the way. 

14.   Do you think rphas had a positive or negative affect on your life or you as a person?

Positive for sure. RP helped meduring the years I was unsure who I wanted to be, what I wanted to express, andhelped me communicate more when I said so little. I was so much moreintroverted, and the writing RP brought was so uplifting.

The character, Haine, I madeyears ago is a force in my life that influenced my traits as a role model. She’llalways have a special place in my heart.

I suppose this builds on thelast question, huh?

Without finding RP as anoutlet, I don’t think I would have been ready to embrace what I could be.Things could have been far worse in my life, and I like to think some of thetraits I had crafted Haine to be throughout the years helped me remain true towho I should be rather than what everyone wanted me to be- or knock me down tobe.

Yes. I’ve had the alias Hainefor over ten years. I carried that name from my old RP community and thisperson that I used to call a good friend disappeared. She came back under a newname, and then I went on a hiatus. I come back, she’s going as the name “Haine.”She pretended she was just an anonymous person and not the friend I always knewbut playing stupid never was her skill.

I was… indifferent at first.Yet, it felt like a part of me was being violated. I knew her. It hurt. I hadmade Haine as this love child of my creativity. I tried to be reasonable butthen this person began to start discourse so it would go. “Did Haine do this?” “Whydid Haine do that?” It was confusing to always say “It was the other one.” Whenoften duplicate alias’ were not typical.

It was upsetting to say theleast, and after a while, as above it as I like to be- I started getting prettyangry. It was never pretty. I can regret a bit of it.

As in duplicates acrossservers? I do that! I had stared on Siren originally before I made a characteron Balmung before world visit opened up. I think duplicates are helpful in caseyou want to keep your strong attachments in both data centers.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Ed has always kind of had a crush on Lee (sniffing her hair) even when he was infatuated with Kristen, so that mixed with his general insanity, and inability to fully understand love is going to leave him rather broken-hearted this season. I mean, it'd be insane to expect Lee to reciprocate. However, it could end up being a catalyst for Ed to get help...If he's afraid of hurting another person he cares about.

True about Ed always ~kinda crushing on Lee, although… IIRC it was LITERALLY only the fact he knew what she smelled like that vaguely hinted at that? (we don’t actually see him smell her I think? he sniffs KRISTEN’S hair in an extremely creepy and inappropriate fashion early on, but about Lee he only comments to Harvey and Jim that he thinks she ‘smells nice’ - is that right?), so I wouldn’t argue that it was MUCH of a crush really.

That said I do not think it’s OOC for him to crush on or believe he’s in love with Lee (hell, idk, I don’t think it would be wildly OOC for him to ACTUALLY fall in love with her, esp. now that she is embracing her melodramatic side as well as her dark side, meaning they actually have a fair bit in common atm). I just… don’t find it… NECESSARY as an aspect of their plot/relationship.

So basically, like… it WORKS, I guess. It MAKES SENSE as a story choice in the sense that it FITS within the narrative the show has crafted. I just… don’t like/want it *sigh* So I’m not trying to get on a high horse and say that it’s objectively wrong/bad and/or nonsense or anything, I’m just venting my personal distaste.

Been doing that a lot with Gotham lately - how very lame for my followers, I’m so sorry!

I do like your idea that it could act as a catalyst for Ed seeking help though, in order to not put Lee in danger. That’s nice thinking! 

Although I’m afraid I don’t share the optimism :( Because Ed NEEDS to get back to being Riddler at some point ofc (sooner than later probably), and since being Riddler seems to me to be symptomatic of his illness, my general assumption is that he is doomed to consistently FAIL to get help (as is the case for, like, all the Batman Rogues I feel? awww).

Considering that, it has always seemed to me that this happy family with Grundy and Lee was the set up for a tragic fall for Ed - giving him a taste of happiness in order to make his inevitable return to madness as The Riddler more powerful/painful for the audience. 

So I’ve been prepping for Ed to break with Grundy and Lee from the start and with Grundy it has always seemed pretty likely this would happen with Grundy getting some of Butch’s memories back, realising Ed has been lying to and exploiting him, and so turning on Ed - possibly actually trying to assault him, but ultimately leaving him in any case (though I have made some desperate hopeful speculation otherwise!). Which would then contribute to Eddie embracing being The Riddler again, since he will have lost a key part of the support system that was keeping him from being overwhelmed by his unhealthy thoughts/urges, yeah?

With Lee though I’ve had no thoughts on how she and Ed might eventually part ways… in fact, considering how heartwarmingly good together they’d been of late I was actually starting to wonder if perhaps they might NOT split on bad terms at all - that perhaps Lee would genuinely try to HELP Eddie fight his mental problems, but that in the end the pull to become Riddler again would just be too strong and Ed would run off right back to his previous crazy life of crime, albeit with warm feelings towards Lee still. While Lee is left disappointed, but with some sort of lingering warm feelings for Eddie too, maybe holding on to some hopeful idea that he can still be appealed to and helped… (I actually would really love this, oh, can’t we have this??)

HOWEVER, now we have this sudden, unexpected romance element… I have a new theory on how Ed might end up splitting from Lee -

Because no matter what I’m thinking Lee will NOT reciprocate any romantic feelings towards her from Ed, be they real or not, (as you say anon - that would be ridiculous), so… maybe it’s just because I recently played through the first Telltale Batman (:p), but I’m picturing a variation on the Harvey Dent spiraling into Two Face scenario, as seen in Telltale and also BtAS (since Gotham has given their Eddie a bit of a Two Face flavour after all) -

ie. Ed makes a pass at Lee (leaves her flowers, just blurts out that he loves her, something like that) and she rejects him (I imagine she’d do it really nicely too, emphasising how she values his friendship or some such), but while this is all innocent it kickstarts Eddie’s paranoia (why doesn’t she love me? am I not good enough? does she have someone else? is it Jim? etc etc), which then spirals into darker more violent thoughts (why shouldn’t she be with me? how dare she think I’m not good enough! what does Jim have that I don’t?! etc etc)… leading, perhaps, to him being angry or even violent towards Lee (who will defend herself in kickass ways if that is the case ofc) and ultimately going off in a rage believing that Lee isn’t and never was his friend and he was stupid to think they could ever be friends or more… or possibly slinking off in shame at having tried to hurt her, believing that she hates him now and that he clearly can’t fight his violent urges anyways (oooh that might be quite cool actually)… endgame being that he turns to becoming Riddler again as the only life he thinks he can have… 

…in general I guess it might not be a TERRIBLE way for Eddie to tragically fall back into being The Riddler - I do love a good tragedy and all that :) But… I feel like they could do similar WITHOUT any (potential) romance involved… hmmm…

I’ve been a disaster at predicting the show this season however - so hopefully that trend will continue and this will be wrong :p

(one thing I do find curious and that works against my prediction is that Eddie was very ANGRY at his Riddler self when he suggested he was in love with Lee… could be that Eddie didn’t want his feelings mocked/belittled/tainted and/or didn’t want to start having violent urges towards another woman he loves, hence telling that side of himself ‘SHUT UP!’… OR, idk, could be that Eddie ISN’T in love with Lee and he doesn’t want his mind to start twisting his relationship with Lee into something it isn’t and that’s why he’s angry? (kinda like Ozzie being pissed at everything thinking he was in love with Sofia?) he just wants to keep being happy and being friends and not feel compelled to be more… this would fit a reading of Ed as suffering from issues of toxic masculinity and all that - the side of him that’s all about hyper-masculinity is telling him that as a woman Lee ofc should be considered as a potential lover because that’s what women are to men and that kind of nonsense, so he’s trying to resist that…. on the same note, it’s interesting that his Riddler self mocked his acting - his toxic thoughts shaming him for having ‘unmanly’ interests perhaps??)

so i’ve been in the twitter rp community since early 2015 and trends come and go very fast which is why i’m here today making this post to update you on what’s new since other guides are kinda outdated. oops. anyway everything will be under the read more and i hope it makes things more clear! 

.01: filling out the app

if you’re familiar with appless rp’s then you already know how to do this because it’s the exact same. basically just fill in all your characters info in the areas it’s asked. since you don’t have to use gifs or anything for twitter, there’s also tons of cute faceclaims you can use. i even made a page (i’m debuting it early on this post) of pictures of 39 faceclaims you can check out here. by clicking on the pictures it’ll take you to their insta!

02.: making your account

now this part is where things have changed from other guides about twitter rping.

usernames: @ names with 2′s or 4′s in them are done. please leave them in 2016. @‘s that are like puns of your characters name is what everyone is doing. ex: FAIONTHEWALL, KELSEYULATER, SAHARDLYCARE, COCANICOLA... (none of these @‘s are mine i don’t even know if they’re taken i just made some up based off fcs)

display name: it used to be a huge trend to put tv show character names in all caps but now things are a little more… relaxed. people will put quotes from memes or vines in cool fonts (go to messletters to get cool fonts). this part isn’t really strict you can honestly put whatever kinda quote.

icons and headers: people don’t really match their icons and headers (if u wanna do that, go right ahead) but most people just put some kinda meme there or if you wanna make a fast friend tweet “lms to be my header” and Bam someone will send a pic and that can be your header. photoshoot icons are a little weird since you want the account to look like it’s a personal account u know? so basically: selfies. pictures w pets, candids taken by a friend, u know.

other: okay so twitter started this dumb thing where your notifs won’t work for 24 hours after your first tweet, so if you see people tweet “/ notifs” before ooc hour they’re just making sure that when the roleplay opens other members will be able to see them in their notifications. sounds kinda confusing, i know. it’s annoying. also, make sure to go into settings and privacy > timeline > and make sure “see best tweets first” is turned off otherwise your timeline will be all over the place. another thing is to go into the notifications tab and click the gear icon on the top right corner to turn off the ‘quality filter’. i’d suggest saving accounts so you don’t have to keep making new ones but honestly do whatever.

03: sending in your account

this part is easy. you don’t have to go to the tumblr main and send them an anon saying “my account is @ whatever!” all you have to do is follow the main twitter which will always be linked on the main tumblr and that’s it! you can even tweet them like “/ hey” just to make sure they get the notification. 

.04: ooc hour / plotting in general

ooc hour is when all members have time before the roleplay officially opens to plot with other members. honestly, you will find that lots of people are lazy and don’t have anything planned because they prefer to go with chem which is okay. during this time people will also talk ooc and basically just get ready. however, plotting after you join a rp is kinda tricky. don’t feel bad if you join a group and post a plotting tweet that only gets a couple likes. nobody is trying to make you feel left out or anything, it’s just that at this point people are leaning more towards chem than actually plotting. but there will always be at least a few people that’ll be down to plot!!

.05: tweeting 

i can’t really help with this part since it is your character that you’ll be playing and i obviously know nothing about them so i’m just gonna list some tips. first, make sure your tweets are actually something people can reply to. a simple “hello” will do just fine tbh. second, reply to others!!!! third, don’t…..make pity tweets… idk if this makes sense but don’t make pity tweets especially ooc. things like “/ wow i’m feeling sooo ignored i’m gonna drop lol” make people feel really awkward idk just talk to an admin if you’re feeling like that and they will help. finally, DO post and like lms tweets! lms tweets are anything from “lms for a dm” “lms to be in my milestone tweet”.

THIS is honestly different for everyone. you’ll find people who love quirk and you’ll find people who think quirk is ruining rp. quirk is basically just memes and being funny. it’s a good way to make friends with other characters, but it’s annoying to be quirky during serious times. for example, if you’re in a horror rp and a character just got attacked your character wouldn’t be like “WHOOPSIE DAISIES! LOL! THEY SHOULDVE SEEN THAT COMING! :p”.

I’m most comfortable with plotting beforehand or with meme responses. Feel free to turn a meme into a thread, by all means (in another post)! As for tagging me in random starters, that’s a bit more selective.

. Mun and muses are over 18 (in main verse). I will not smut with minors, it's illegal and gross besides. No sexually explicit material will be shown/written about the muses until they are over 18 in verse. Violating this rule will almost definitely result in you being blocked.

I do love my crossovers but I kinda have to have some background knowledge on the other character’s fandom. That will usually exclude animated stuff, and as ever, I hold the right to be selective.

I’m most comfortable with paragraph style roleplay. I can go longer easily, but shorter is difficult. Mini para works fine, but I’m not great with single-sentence/icon exclusive. Sometimes I'll start with one-liners, but I do expect to transition to at least single-paragraph.

I will follow anyone’s blog whose rules I feel I can follow, which I’m interested in either aesthetically or for writing. Reasons I’m not following you may include: You don’t trim threads, we’ve followed for a while but haven’t interacted, you’re inactive for more than 3 weeks without a hiatus notice, or things got to be a lot to handle for me. I’m selective, but not necessarily mutuals exclusive, so don’t let that throw you off.

I want everyone to have a good time, so if I miss something you’d like to be tagged, feel free to message me via im or anon or whatever makes you feel comfortable. No trigger is “too stupid” to be tagged – hell, I just told all of you that I’ve got a severe Mickey Mouse phobia.
