MIRA BIELATIR QUICKLY BECAME THE PEARL OF DISTRICT FOUR FOLLOWING HER (QUESTIONABLE TO SOME) VICTORY. Her fate no longer felt like her own once she was crowned with a headpiece that came from the blood of her late twenty-three fellow tributes.

Day 3: I Can Change Everything About Me To Fit In

Dot Cahill & Marlow Stilinski

I chose the two OCs that I made first in their respective fandoms as they mean a really big deal to me, they truly did change the way I shape characters and write for them and for that I will always be thankful - even if I don’t still constantly edit them or write for them.

When I started writing for Riverdale with Dot as my main muse I truly thought I was a much more evolved writer, only I really wasn’t. I was still falling into the same pratfalls as I did when I started writing. I didn’t do nearly enough character building and esentially there so many plotholes and she was pretty much just Betty in brunette. I knew when I started posting on tumblr for her that I needed to do a sweep and rework her completely. She started out as a complete stranger to everyone in town and then I decided to have her move back. She was originally not a Jughead endgame but I thought it was too cute to pass up. I quickly gave her a new backstory and she quickly turned into this whole person of her own, someone who went from being a bad girl to trying too hard to be good to finding a balance. She’s kind and artistic and intent on finding justice, but she also knows she’s made her mistakes that she is trying to make up for. She’s deeply traumatized by a past incident but learns to work through it. Dot is now so much more than just a Betty Cooper clone and I love her immensly.

Marlow Stilinski (Grace, as she was called in the beginning) was my literal first OC baby. I started writing for her in 2014/2015, never having written fanfiction or anything else before, in a language that wasn’t my own, in a fandom I had barely been in for like a month. Predictably so, Marlow was a completely underdeveloped character who I pretty much forced into all scenes and replaced another character with. She kind of just sat there for a while until season five started airing. Then I changed her FC and rewrote her story. It still wasn’t right. It took me three rewrites and another FC change to finally perfect my girl. A strong, sarcastic, kind-hearted, protective girl with a better fitted backstory and a life of her own. I adore her to the moon and back and I am so happy I never truly quit on her.

To Danielle / @elle-roleplays When KJ Hudson (now Dua Aleki) first made his debut in 2019, I definitely didn’t think there would be someone in the community or a character who would turn him into the staple character that he is today, but I was wrong. That someone was you and that other character was your phenomenal Gabriella Dias (now Valerie Dias). From the moment we started talking OOC together, I never thought we would go from writing partners to best friends, but here we are now in 2022, still best friends, with KJ Hudson and Gabriella Dias still being one of my most favourite couples. Thank you, Danielle, for being the best friend I could ever ask for, and for always humouring my 3am bouts of writing ideas. I hope 2022 is at least as half as amazing as you 🖤

OC NEW YEAR’S CHALLENGE / Day Three: I Can Change Everything About Me to Fit In (Most Changed OC): Darby MacQuoid from Magnum Opus, a Steve Rogers Fanfiction

DARBY MACQUOID CEASED AGING IN 1943. From then on, she was merely an aging spirit in a twenty-three year old’s body. While in a POW camp in Austria among her fellow 107th Infantry Regiment soldiers during World War II, Darby came down with pneumonia and was treated by their captors since she was useless if she could barely stand. They used the opportunity to simultaneously attempt experimentation; however, while her health improved, their biological manipulations rendered useless.

That is…only to the naked eye.

OC New Year's Challenge

December 30th - Right Where You Left Me with Rachel Williams

Rachel, my beloved. She's been on the backburner for a while, mainly because I just wasn't interested in her and her story. But this challenge - take one of your old, neglected, even abandoned ocs and reinvent them - gave me the opportunity to revisit Rachel and revamp her. New face claim, new backstory, new entrance into the story, new everything! And I don't know about you, but I think Rachel has definitely come back stronger than a 90s trend.

So, meet Rachel, my latest Doctor Who OC (and if you know me, she's got plenty of company!). Younger sister of Rory Williams, she's known as the local party girl, knocking back shots and dragging whoever she currently fancies into back alleys. But that's just surface material. Rachel may love a good time, but she also loves music, her friends, and her family. But she's also got baggage, the kind that takes two to carry. Maybe with a little help from a certain Doctor, she'll be able to let that baggage go?
