What I do know,

- is seeing akgaes complain about BigHit neglecting Jimin for years because out of all the vocal line members, he never had a solo OST project. Like, before BTS’s PET era, this was one of the topics his akgaes would be getting hit tweets on practically every month. This was their raison d’être. How could the company that shunned solo work allow that solo opportunity for other members but not Jimin? Nobody got any answers or even acknowledgement of this great disservice from the company, for years. Not until early 2022 when Jimin casually mentioned that he was never interested in that sort of opportunity in the first place until a friend personally asked him as a favour.

- is seeing akgaes claim the company never acknowledged Jimin’s historic BB Hot100 win, when anybody can google to see that’s clearly not the case. I’m convinced the only reason this continues to be a talking point is due to akgaes and their sympathizers centering themselves in an equation that has nothing to do with them. Jimin has said his team acknowledged it, we can see this from their main sm profiles and the members’ personal sm pages, just as was done for Jungkook, we know HYBE’s management highlighted it as the main accomplishment in the quarter to their investors, and his achievement was positively highlighted in many articles on the k-side. But just as with the cake situation, the people complaining about this want the company to respond in a way that reflects their own personal expectations regardless of the reality of what actually happened, what the members have already said and what they actually wanted at the time.

- is seeing akgaes assert blindly for months that HYBE partnered with Billboard to delete Jimin’s week 2 and all D2C sales. Assert that HYBE masterminded the buttfuck that was the deletion of sales by Hanteo, by Billboard, by *insert random industry player*, only for it to be revealed that Billboard treated every HYBE artist mentioned in their expose article dishonourably, including NewJeans who akgaes have decided for whatever reason is why their chosen idol is not getting the recognition they want for him. It’s been clear that issues with shipping and stocking are not even limited only to BTS members much less just Jimin, and so HYBE must be sabotaging TXT, Enhypen, and the other artists in the company they’re supposedly pushing to replace BTS and Jimin. HYBE must’ve also been behind BTS’s sales irregularities on Hanteo as well as other groups’ including Twice and EXO’s sales deletions in the past.

- is seeing akgaes assert for almost a year that the decision to use Weverse albums and not provide an option for physical versions was forced on J-hope by the company. His akgaes demanded answers for months and received no answers and no acknowledgment. Only for Hobi to reveal almost a year later that he chose that option out of his own desire to try something very different, despite advice to the contrary from others within the company including other BTS members.

Notice, all of this have been things to be legitimately upset about, but akgaes taking control of the conversation has only served the purpose of redirecting any focus away from the members, to render them powerless, shifting focus away from third-party industry players who work independently of HYBE and have their own motivations, and towards the company where they aim to remove their chosen member from to exert more control. 10 times out of 10 this has been the case, even when it’s not just irrational to arrive at that conclusion, but flat out counterproductive. I don’t even like HYBE, but it’s annoying to constantly point out obvious holes in logic or in situations that anybody with any knowledge of how BTS has operated for years can easily see.

We’re not actually privy to the full conversations the members are having with the company about their career strategy and goals.

What we do know is that like any other team, resources are allocated and the results nearly every time have been greatly influenced by their own input. We can judge for ourselves that despite the members working within the constraints at BigHit, such as:

- Yoongi being told he couldn’t release D-2 in 2019 due to unknown constraints but released it in 2020 to no issue,

- Yoongi being told he couldn’t give Jimin a song he wrote due to PDogg’s refusal but this not hampering the artistic output of either artist,

- Jimin being refused his request to have a visual album but no expense was spared for his very elaborate production choices…

…that while the company sometimes says no to the members for reasons we don’t know (and can’t know, we’re fans not A&R managers for BTS), in retrospect these decisions appear tied more to logistical and strategic constraints, sometimes incompetence, rather than malicious intent. The company still supports the members’ projects and all seven members are happy enough with their current management over any other option, that they’ve chosen to renew their exclusive contracts early, not just once, but twice.

I too want Jimin to have received nominations for the MTV EMAs. I want that for all my biases but especially Jimin because his chart and sales performance dwarfed most of the competition, but even more so because Jimin released one of the most remarkable works of art created in 2023. And it deserves to be recognized and celebrated.

But already, the conversation is shifting towards HYBE propping up Jungkook to shaft Jimin, deliberately refusing to submit his work (which just like the other claims about Billboard and Hanteo, none of these people can provide any evidence to support except this happened to another artist years ago and HYBE bad), etc - all akgae talking points that have as little basis in reality we know as any other conspiracy theory you see in any solo space in BTS fandom. These theories only support the idea that the members are in direct competition with each other, do not deserve their team, and should leave the group. Because there’s a whole host of explanations for what we’re seeing here, but the constant impulse to reach for that particular reason is because it leads to only one goal.

I already said months ago after the Billboard article, that it served the purpose of handicapping Jimin’s chart performance to look overly reliant on Asian buyers (read Chinese money) reducing its legitimacy for Western awards, and we’re already seeing that play out. This has nothing to do with HYBE, and everything to do with the carelessness of the fandom in blowing up funding sources while aiming to shatter yet another Western record. When history has shown us every time BTS as a group did this, the industry responded by looking for a way to handicap the group. Which was then done for Jimin as he was the first to break that record.

HYBE could’ve sent his songs to radio. His songs have very good commercial quality. HYBE could’ve sent Still Life ft Anderson Paak to radio too as it had very good commercial quality. But we also know the members chose their roll-out strategy and suit of promotion tools and this likely influenced decisions like why some songs were sent to radio and others weren’t. And the first thing I noticed about all the EMA nominations is every artist had their songs sent to radio. Every single one. And so if the Billboard expose didn’t completely handicap Jimin, then it’s possible because his songs weren’t sent to radio he wasn’t even in the running in the first place. Here, feel free to blame HYBE all you want. I blame them too, but just as I did in Hobi’s case, I also believe this was in part influenced by his own decisions and hold him responsible as well.

I don’t baby any of the members in BTS. I’m not their mother. And when I see things I don’t like, I don’t absolve them of all responsibility and place it squarely on the company, because the members know more than me about their own situations, and are grown Korean men who have all the privileges and options that entails, and who continue to remain in a team they keep saying they respect and are grateful to.

I cannot want more for my biases than they want themselves. That’s not why I’m here. I don’t see myself as their advocate, contract lawyer, mother, manager, or girlfriend. I’m their fan and so I’m ARMY. I’ll support them as much as is within my means and preferences, object to actions of the company that directly impact me or on issues that I find morally repugnant based on having all the facts at my disposal, not based on fan theories made by groups of people who have a history of working outside of the members own interests and desires.

I can manage my disappointment on various things while recognizing all the above. Perhaps after this first set of debuts, both the members and HYBE will rethink their promotion strategies, make modifications, and maybe they won’t. That’s their cross to carry, not mine.

This is my position on everything that happens in Chapter 2 and 3, (because all these grumblings will only metastasize when the members come back, as that’s how it’s typically goes in every k-pop fandom, regardless of the fact this only ever works counterproductively for the artists).

Please read this the next time you mean to send me an ask on a related topic. While I might share your disappointment, I don’t share your anxieties, and I don’t have the answers you’re looking for. The only people who do are the members and they don’t owe you any explanations unless they think it’s necessary. I’m not trying to be rude, condescending, or harsh. This is what I genuinely think.

So, I thought it would be fun if I described my many characters and their stories as silly blog/news titles and opening statements! This is only a small handful of my ocs, but if you guys want more or see one idea you’d like to hear more of, I’ll consider posting additional content of them!

What are your writing strengths? one of the best compliments i’ve received is that i write with a “sleight of hand” - concealing things (that the character doesn’t know) from the reader as well, such that things unfold naturally/there’s a nice element of suspense. also writing character’s thoughts, ig. slipping into their headspace has always felt natural/fun for me.

What are your writing weaknesses? long sentences. procrastination. sometimes i explain scenes rather than just writing them, mostly bc I’m lazy/don’t think they’re necessary (but then realise that it would’ve been interesting to draw out afterwards). also a crippling sense of self doubt that i'm working on i swear- imposter syndrome is just a bit ch sometimes.

On today's Ginkgo rambles, we have

what is going on with Tessa and why I find her very suspicious.

Spoilers, duh

The main thing that glares at me is how she interacts between the team and what she says. Or, more specifically, how inconsistent she is with the information she gives us. When we first see her, she says:

"Her [Cyn] last known act was siccing you lot on human exo-planets."

N: "But why?"

J: "That's what we're trying to figure out, bozo."

And-

"If she [Cyn] wants these labs. We burn them down!"

But later, she switches it up.

"When we get to the lab and find that list..."

Why was there a switch? She went from "we are burning this sh*t down!" To "I actually need the labs to get the list of drones that are infected."

So what gives?

The only thing I can see is J's presence. It's strange too isn't it? Tessa specifically told J to stay back and mind her ship. Illiciting this weird pause in the trio.

The entire time in N's memories/flashback, it's shown that J follows Tessa all over. Granted, N's memories are a bit of a shaky land to base anything off of. Many of the things that happened in N's memories did not actually happen in real life. More specifically, the gala massacre happened, yes. But N, V, Tessa, and J most likely did not fight eldrich Cyn like in Episode 5, Home. Given that we have nothing else, we can at least infer that J and Tessa are pretty close friends- specifically taking the scene when Tessa asks J to act as a "ripping royal stud." J, who we have seen to be very strict, showed concern for Tessa's hand injury (which is another thing I'll touch on).

With all this in mind, why would Tessa do that? They've been together ever since the first clip of then in episode 3, The Prommening. Why would Tessa forgo the extra security that J provides? Supposedly, Tessa knew that N and V have forgotten about her due to the CYN administration program. We see this from when Tessa first interacts with them,

"N! You remember- *cough cough*" It seems that she knew that N and V, to some degree, do not remember her or working for her as butler and maid. That detail would put her at a risk, wouldn't it? N and V are almost like strangers, not to mention Uzi bit her the second she got close enough. Having J with her would be safer for her. Instead, she tells J to mind her ship.

Now, there are a couple of things that I could think of.

1. J is a liability somehow. This is the more insane and unhinged idea, therefore has more holes. But basically, the thought is that the absolute solver somehow has a stronger hold on J and is using her to gather data on Tessa's movements. Tessa might have realized that the corrupted core with ths absolute solver in J is a liability to what Tessa is actually trying to do. Therefore, she says "we burn the labs!" When J is there, but when she's gone Tessa switches to her true goal which is "get the list." There is a glaring hole here tho. How would Tessa know that the corrupted cores in N and V do not have a strong hold on them? Maybe the hint to her was that N remembered her. But J hasn't shown signs that she doesn't remember Tessa either. But the counter to that could be that J views Tessa as a JcJenson technician, therefore Tessa is already supposed to have that level of respect/loyalty.

2. J is backup. This would make more sense. We can't have the entire gang going down into the labs, and not have someone as backup in case things go south. They'll need someone to either drag them out or finish the job of burning the labs down if the gang isn't successful.

3. Tessa herself is what's weird. J, N, and V are all acting like themselves, the only person that we've seen to have a change in their personality is Tessa. Maybe Tessa is posessed with something something, more unhinged idea rant. But you get the idea. Of course, no one can go through seeing your parents and friends killed, and then kinda causing the fall of the entire planet earth and come out with the same personality as you had originally. So maybe, she simply matured rapidly, and that gave her the more cold side we often see throughout Episode 6, Dead End.

I'm mostly very suspicious of Tessa because V was too. While the trio were making their way over to the elevator, V had one of her eyes/sensors on Tessa the entire time.

After V saw that Tessa was no longer trustworthy and that the sentinels did not listen to her, she stopped following along with Tessa. Just as many more people have mentioned, it's really sad how V's true personality and care only shone in the second half of episode 6. How protective V became of Uzi and N. Taking lead while walking down the corridor, and taking lead in fighting the sentinels.

Now as for this! Tessa's hand injury, or something at least being wrong with her hand. Liam would not include this just because. Something is wrong with her left hand, and we have to keep that in mind for some odd reason. I have a feeling that the injury will come up later in eps 7 and 8. Perhaps if the theory of this Tessa being the imposter, then the gang will have to figure it out by basing it off of Tessa's left hand injury. That, or maybe this Tessa is the real one, and the injury might cause a hiccup in the fight that is gonna go down in ep 7 or 8.

Of course, as per usual, I could simply be looking in too deep to this. Feel free to gut this! ^_^

Are there any magic system ideas from other stories you have read that you would like to see implemented in Marvel's magic system?

Not necessarily. For one thing, I actually think it's important that magic remain somewhat fluid. The function of magic, specifically spellcasting, is to meet the needs of the story. So, it kind of has to be adaptable. Besides, one of the things I like about Marvel is that is there are so many different kinds of magic, and I think that imposing a universal system would kind of detract from that.

There are already some universal underpinnings in the Marvel world that I like, such as the breakdown of eco-, exo-, and ego-centric power sources. Fine-tuning that concept and using it more consistently would help magic feel more coherent and grounded across the board, but still leave room for each character or realm to feel unique.

Having said that, I think my favorite magic system, ever, is the one from the Young Wizards series by Diane Duane. It revolves primarily around a universal language, called the Speech, that can be used to name or describe pretty much anything in reality. Spells, therefore, take the form of complex sentences, equations, sometimes songs or poems, which describe, in detail, everything involved and what it needs to do, how it needs to change, etc. But beyond having the power command or transform reality, the Speech allows wizards to communicate and form relationships with almost any kind of life, any kind of matter, any kind of energy. It's incredibly versatile, and I really love that while it can be very exacting and clinical, it requires an empathetic, relational approach with a real human core.

Part of what I like about this system is that it bridges the gap between magic and science. It often requires wizards to have a detailed knowledge of whatever they're working with, and it provides opportunities to demonstrate that knowledge to the reader, which is an important part of how you make magic feel earned. That's something that's missing in a lot of modern comics-- we don't get to see the thought process or the effort that goes into spell casting. And because the system is simultaneously complex and intuitive-- it's just language, after all-- once your reader is reasonably familiar, you can actually get away with glossing over the details when you need to keep a scene moving. The reader will infer the detail on their own because you've taught them how the system works. It's just... brilliant. Duane is a genius to me, and I love these books so much.

Using universal language or code as magic works really well for characters like Doctor Strange-- I think they tried to do something similar in the movies, only far less artful-- and the correlation of practical knowledge to magical efficacy is perfect for something like Wanda's hex power. Importing the Young Wizards system into Marvel comics wholesale probably wouldn't work out-- it kind of relies on prose-- but there are a lot of great lessons and helpful ways of thinking about magic to be gained from Duane's writing.

Remember this tank?

It was the home of our rescue betta Juniper, confiscated along with him from my brother-in-law.

Juniper passed about a year ago and the tank has mainly been a scuds farm while I was working on other projects.

Uh, that was overdue for a thorough cleaning. Also ditched the hood with its useless light.

I only cleaned the front of the tank- I let biofilm and algae grow on the other sides to provide grazing for the snails, shrimp, and other microfauna.

Here I also added some Aquasoil with root tabs for the plants.

Capping it with sand. I had originally intended to use white sand again, except as I was reminded with Cistern, white sand generally doesn't stay white past the tank maturing. I had some difficulty finding a natural darker sand that wasn't ridiculously expensive, but eventually settled on Exo Terra's Riverbed.

Securing sticks in place as the hardscape. These are Japanese maple; their branches always form such interesting shapes. They came from my neighbor's damn tree that keeps dropping them into my garden, so as an added bonus they're also free.

Attached epiphytes and started gently filling. Added botanicals with microfauna.

Planted with cuttings from my other tanks. Also threw a handful of assorted snails in there. The filter media is very mature, but it needs bigger inhabitants to keep it going.

It's been cycling for almost two months, now. I haven't added any fish since I'd be adding either a betta or Microrasbora, and I still need to make a new lid to prevent jumping.

It's also been too cold to ship tropical plants, which I'm planning to use for the riparium feature to complete this build.

reading on exo chen’s marriage?

I sense a lot of guilt from Chen towards his spouse, Mihee. Chen got a lot of hate, backlash, and sort of a pause in his career due to this marriage. This was not what he expected. He knew there'd be some backlash but didn't anticipate it to be so severe. Also the pregnancy was not what he had planned for at the time. The pregnancy triggered the couple to marry (even if he says otherwise in public). The 2nd child also came unexpectedly. He had wanted to have children at a later time in life like at least a few years after marriage.

Chen is very stressed and frustrated these days. With 2 young children, he feels very overwhelmed. He wasn't ready for fatherhood and I sense that Mihee is quite needy and dependent on him. She forces him to do a lot of the work and handle a lot of things because she feels like she already gave birth and he needs to do his share. She also feels like he owes her a lot because of all the hate she got. I do sense she may be suffering from postpartum depression. She often feels very depressed and easily angered. She needs Chen to do a lot of the work like if deliveries are coming then Chen needs to be there because she can't handle delivered by herself.

Mihee had wanted Chen to marry her for a while now and he kept waiting and waiting. It was only after she get pregnant did he finally decide to marry her. She felt very aggrieved throughout the relationship like she felt like she waited for him for a while, sacrificed a lot, looked over many things in the relationship, etc. Even after getting married and having children, she still feels rather unhappy. She felt Chen didn't handle releasing the news about their marriage and her pregnancy very well. He told her that he'd take care of it, but she still got so much hate.

Overall there's a lot of tension between Chen and his spouse. Chen feels very fatigued and overworked. He can't really do much work with his spouse's constant demands. He also feels kind of upset that his colleagues or friends seem to be doing better than he is career wise.

Chen may have to use his spouse and his kids to give his career another boost. For example, he participates in those variety shows where celebrities show what their family lives are like. I think this will just make things more tense between Chen and his spouse.

The wedding they recently had was also to try to make his spouse happy and to generate some talk in the media.

This marriage has a 60% chance of ending in divorce. They will both have to put in a lot of effort to sustain the marriage. Both have to learn to compromise and also she will need to let go of feeling aggrieved and accept the situation as is. There's only so much someone can do to try to appease her. He also needs to communicate his thoughts to her more directly; he has a tendency to avoid things and run away or procrastinate. He didn't provide her with much security before the marriage and he did do some hurtful things to her, making it really hard for her to trust him fully and to be secure in this relationship. I feel like she stayed in this relationship for quite a while and this has led her to feel like she has to get a "result" from it, like get married etc. She felt like she invested too much time in Chen so she can't afford to give up on the relationship.

Mihee still loves Chen a lot but wants him to make it up to her. (I feel she loves him more than he loves her.) Chen feels more responsible and sorry towards his spouse, rather than feeling that he loves her a lot.

my exo otp and one of my ultimate OTPs. they had a bit of a rocky start and had a hard time getting close pre-debut, but once they did they now have a sincere trust for each other. they're caring and protective of one another: jongin (kai) running to baekhyun when he was injured, comforting each other when they cry (baekhyun following after jongin and holding his hand; jongin gently tugging at his ear), baekhyun leading jongin through the airport when he was sick, jongin drinking bitter juice for him in a batsu game (the reason i started shipping them), and so on. they've had to deal with a lot of similar situations wrt hate from fans (added to the group late, "overly" featured, dating scandals, etc.), as well as challenges with simply being in exo, superm, and sm in general. they admire each other, compliment and complement each other, and aspire to be as accomplished as each other; they support each other's solo careers and are always excited for each other. easily my favorite thing about them is why they're a rare pair in the first place, despite being in two groups together: their interactions, even the more affectionate ones, are rarely played up for fanservice. it's often little, private moments where they lean on each other or are affectionate in some other way. like THIS:

it's just so subtle and intimate? it's for no one but them. most of these kind of moments like the ones i've mentioned and others, can only be found on fancams! also they're really playful!!!!! i love them!!

WIDOWANA

my overwatch otp. friends (or lovers if you're delulu like me) to enemies to attempted killers. after thinking amélie (widowmaker) dead for a year, ana snipes her helmet on the battlefield, revealing who widowmaker actually is. once ana realizes it's her friend, she can't pull the trigger. ana, who never hesitates, hesitates for the first time, and widowmaker shoots her cybernetic eye out. they have an adversarial and competitive relationship now that they're both snipers on opposite ends of the war, trading barbs and pity for the other's situation. as the top two deadliest snipers in the world, they're kind of obsessed with one another and specifically outdoing each other. it provides a lot of tension and potential angst, especially of the "i know you're in there somewhere, come back to me" variety.

ISHINEMU

so rare even i don't talk about them (i tend to ship ishihime more, although even that is third after tatsuhime and ulquihime). SO much wasted potential! both of them have been wronged so acutely by mayuri and i think there are a lot of daddy issues to explore between the two of them. plus, uryuu seems to be literally the only person in the series who sees nemu as a person. shame their relationship, and mayuri medically torturing uryuu's grandfather AND the way he abuses nemu, was played for laughs later on lol good one, kubo :/

jing is my name for him, he's a fusion of "force" who showed up in only boo! and that one guy in you fight, and i love (i'd use the nickname of what character from the novel he's supposed to be, but i couldn't find it lol). i have a fic in mind i wanna write for them and it would have been another entry into the hurt/comfort bingo, but it accidentally ended up too long. the headcanon is that jing is deeply closeted and shone is addicted to heartbreak.

"Y/N!" my friend Minseo called me.

"Yeah?" I replied.

"INB100 has opened its auditions," she replied excitedly.

"What!?" I asked.

"Yeah," she confirmed.

"Wait, let me see…" I said. "Wait, I'm 20. Am I eligible?"

"Well, it says 15 and above, so I guess you are. And even if you're not, it's just an application. Send yours in!" she encouraged.

"I'll do it!" I decided.

"So, what are you going to do?" she asked.

"Well, I'll try all three of them," I said.

"Same song?" she inquired.

"Different ones," I clarified.

"Which songs then?" Minseo asked.

"For singing… 'ABCD' by Nayeon, dance can be 'Armageddon' by Aespa, and rap '3racha' by 3racha of Stray Kids," I listed.

"Why not an EXO song?" she questioned.

"Well, if Baekhyun watches the auditions, he would pay special attention to EXO songs, be it unit, solo, or band," I explained.

I practiced continuously for a week for my application, and finally, I felt ready enough to make a video and send it in.

"MINSEO!!" I called her.

"What's wrong?" She came rushing in.

"Can you help me take the videos?" I asked.

"Sure," she said, smiling.

It took us 5 hours to shoot the videos.

"I CAN'T DO IT!!" I said, freaking out and unable to press the submit button.

"Should I do it for you?" Minseo asked.

After receiving the email, I couldn't contain my excitement. This was it—the next step towards possibly joining the girl group under INB100 Entertainment.

"Minseo, I got in! I cleared the first round!" I exclaimed, waving my phone in excitement.

"That's amazing! I knew you could do it!" Minseo cheered, giving me a congratulatory hug.

I quickly filled out the audition confirmation form, carefully selecting my preferred date and providing my contact information. With each detail entered, the reality sank in deeper—I was one step closer to realizing my dream.

As the days passed, I practiced tirelessly, refining my singing, dancing, and rapping skills. Minseo stood by me, offering encouragement and helping me perfect every move and note.

On the day of the audition, nerves and excitement mingled as I walked into the audition room. Faces of the INB100 team greeted me warmly, and I took a deep breath, ready to showcase everything I had prepared.

The audition itself felt like a whirlwind—a blur of music, movement, and adrenaline. When it was over, I left the room with a mix of emotions, hoping I had left a lasting impression.

Now, all that was left to do was wait—anxiously yet hopefully—for the next email, the one that would decide my fate with INB100 Entertainment and their girl group.

Our artists are strictly personal, able to judge and act on their own.

The decision to find their rights, such as asking for settlement data, was made by our artists themselves after a long period of thinking and agonizing, not by any means intervening.

Furthermore, SM claims that it has signed or attempted a double contract with our artists, and Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin have not signed or attempted any other exclusive contracts other than the existing exclusive contracts currently signed with SM. SM should refrain from making false claims.

SM said it would only allow "reading" without "providing" the settlement data because it was feared to be provided to external forces. However, even if artists receive settlement data and receive advice from their legal representatives as well as other accountants around them, it is a legitimate exercise of their rights. In the exclusive contract, there is no provision that the artist must not show the material provided to the artist to others, and therefore must review it alone. Rather, there is only a clause in the contract that requires artists to review the materials received from SM for 30 days and raise objections if necessary.

SM, which does not even provide settlement data, and party legal representatives and entertainers around them who advise of the unfairness of such a situation. I can't help but question who is pointing out the fault to whom.

Again, the artist and his legal representative have consistently requested the provision of settlement data, but SM finally refused to do so, resulting in the cancellation of the exclusive contract.

2. The settlement data is supposed to be "provided" under the exclusive contract, so it cannot be considered that the obligation has been fulfilled by "reading."

The premise of SM's claim is that SM fulfills its obligations by giving it the opportunity to 'read' the settlement data. However, under the exclusive contract, the settlement data is agreed to be 'provided'. Therefore, it cannot be considered that the obligation has been fulfilled simply by "reading."

Article 14 (5) of the exclusive contract signed by SM and artists states, "A (SM) shall provide the following settlement data to B (Artist) at the same time as the payment of the settlement amount. Within 30 days of receiving the settlement data, Party B may object to Party A, such as over-estimated expenses or under-estimated income of Party B, and Party A shall faithfully provide the basis for the settlement. Therefore, the data should be 'provided' rather than 'read', and the objection period of 30 days is also calculated from the date of 'receiving' the data. It doesn't count from the date of 'reading'.

In addition, SM and the artists signed an additional 'agreement' around 2014, Article 4 stipulated that 'A shall provide evidence when paying the settlement amount under Articles 2 and 3 to B (paragraph 1), and 'A shall provide detailed settlement data to B once every June according to the exclusive contract (paragraph 2). It also stipulated that evidence or detailed settlement data should be 'provided'.

There is a huge difference between "providing" the material and "reading" it, which is difficult to compare in terms of the right to know and protect property rights of artists. In particular, the settlement data is in SM's control area, and I would like to ask you again how you can check whether the details are correct or not by simply coming and looking. In addition, Article 14 (5) of the exclusive contract gives a 30-day review period from the date of receipt of the data, and the content of the exclusive contract is that the artist sufficiently reviews the data for this 30-day period and raises objections if there is any objection.

It is the settlement data that we agreed to take a close look for 30 days, but asking them to come and see it with their eyes is only a justification for SM's claim that "we have shown the data, so we have done what we have to do." And because we could guess what SM meant, we couldn't compromise by giving up on being "provided" and responding to "reading."

For this reason, the standard contract announced by the Fair Trade Commission also stipulated that "A will provide settlement data to B at the same time as the settlement payment" and stipulated that "A will provide it."

Essentially, refusing to provide data while calling for infringement of trade secrets regarding the performance of the artists themselves cannot justify breaking the exclusive contract.

3. Artists and their legal representatives have consistently requested the provision of settlement data. It is the core and substance of the case that SM finally rejected this and reached a notice of termination of the exclusive contract.

SM claims that it was sufficient to "read" the settlement data, but that the artists did not raise any problems with the data before, but suddenly asked for the provision of settlement data when appointing a legal representative, and then suddenly notified the contract to be terminated.

It is the legitimate right of artists to request the provision of settlement data under the exclusive contract. And SM's claim that "the artists suddenly began to make claims as the legal representative changed" is nothing more than an argument not to exercise their legitimate rights for a long time. Above all, the artists' claim as if they were swayed by someone and demanded the provision of settlement data is a disregard for the artists' own high sense of rights and knowledge. During the consultation process, the legal representative confirmed the artists' high sense of rights and high insight into the realization of the right to know.

And just as the records requested by the content certification remain objectively, the artists and their legal representatives consistently requested the "provide" of settlement data from the beginning. And SM maintained its position that 'reading' the settlement data is not enough. However, as you saw earlier, SM's claim was not acceptable to us as it did not meet the exclusive contract, and the positions of both sides were not narrowed, so the artists and their legal representatives ended the exclusive contract according to the precedent.

In other words, the exclusive contract is based on a high degree of trust, and if the agency fails to provide settlement data, the entertainer will not be properly guaranteed the right to review and dispute the profit settlement.

This is the progress between SM and the artists involved in the settlement data, but it is not true to claim that the artist or his legal representative has changed his or her position, distorting and misleading the core and substance of the case.

4. The problem of the long-term exclusive contract period that is unilaterally disadvantageous to artists beyond the minimum reasonable degree

As I already said in today's first press release, artists have previously signed exclusive contracts with SM for more than 12 to 13 years. This is too different from the standard contract for pop culture artists (singer-centered) announced by the Fair Trade Commission based on the seven-year contract period, and it is unilaterally disadvantageous to artists beyond the minimum reasonable extent.

In addition, SM is trying to claim a minimum contract period of 17 years or 18 years, respectively, by having artists sign a follow-up exclusive contract again, not even enough to sign an exclusive contract for 12 to 13 years as above.

It is pointed out again that such subsequent signing of an exclusive contract constitutes "an act of unfairly using the status of the transaction" in Article 45 (1) 6 of the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act. In other words, the long-term compulsion using a subsequent exclusive contract is considered to correspond separately to the "compulsory provision of profits" or "unprofitable provision of transaction conditions" in attached Table 2 of the Enforcement Decree of the same Act.

In response, SM argues that when artists signed a follow-up exclusive contract, there was an agent who was a lawyer for a large law firm, but when the agent changed, it is not reasonable to suddenly claim the unfairness of the follow-up exclusive contract.

However, to claim that the appointment of a legal representative is problematic in claiming that an objectively unfair contract is unfair is a blur of the nature of the issue.

Article 5 (1) of the subsequent exclusive contract states, "This contract is… for five years from. However, if the minimum number of albums specified in Article 4 (4) is not released within the same period, the contract period shall be automatically extended until the time of implementation.' There is no upper limit to the period of automatic extension.

In this way, the clause that the contract period is automatically extended without a cap is clearly a slave contract, and the legal representative pointed out that it is an act of "unfairly exploiting the trading position to deal with the other party," and the artists agree.

And with more than a year left of the existing exclusive contract, it is not justifiable to "tie" the artists by signing a follow-up exclusive contract without a limit on the period. SM has never paid artists a down payment for subsequent exclusive contracts.

Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen are seriously considering filing a complaint with the Fair Trade Commission against the long-term existing exclusive contract and unfair subsequent exclusive contract signing.

5. About EXO's future activities

Our artists are looking to continue their EXO activities faithfully with other EXO members even if they terminate their exclusive contract with SM. In fact, the artist preemptively suggested a negotiation plan to work with EXO even if Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin leave SM.

Apart from solving the legal relationship with SM, the artists are deeply grateful for the great love and support that fans have sent to EXO for a long time. And no matter what form of legal issues are resolved in the future, we will continue to work hard and faithfully as a team called EXO."

Aurora: Turns out there’s only so much of the stuff they made in the 220 years I was gone was worth watching. I never thought I’d see the day, but I’m dead out of holovids to watch, stories to read, song to hear. The only new things in my life are provided by Kal, as my mom would have said, “Ah sure bless him, he’s trying”. He finds new things for us to do, from teaching me to spar to painting. The legion had issued us a stipend to spend on entertainment, and we can get stuff delivered on the biweekly supply deliveries, but still. I. Am. So. Bored.

My only hope is that Finian has taken a 3rd of this weeks requisition budget for “a special surprise”. He refuses to elaborate on what that means, but he insists it will be great. I don’t have much choice but to believe him… maybe between whatever it is, my duties on station, and flying lessons from Tyler my free time will actually mean something again.

Scar: I’m not religious, Tyler tended to do enough praying for the both of us but: THANK YOU MAKER FOR STICKING ME WITH FINIAN DE KARREN DE SEEL. Beyond… well, him, he is the only one keeping us Sane. Today he’s organized a tournament, not just any, but a tournament of everything. Each player will propose a contest of something, be it boxing or time trial flying or cooking, and everyone else gets to vote in which happens. The absolute highlights are: Watching Saedii try to cook (turns out she isn’t perfect.), watching my little brother try and paint (that was one hell of a mess, and watching kal try and play  pool (the station had one laying around, it’s crap but it works). After all that he went back to his room on the zero mumbling about “a suprise”.

He stopped wearing his pen on his exo suit, its kind of odd.

(The Next day)

Finian:

I finished the distraction project, and the main one, finally, after a month of working. The pocketed the main suprise, and carried the diversion in my hands.

“Close your eyes everyone! No peeking! It’s done!”

Everyone stops talking as I clomp my way over to the Holovid display, and begin running  wires. It take some a minute, but I eventually get it working, a logo flashes to life 

A stylized old fashioned game controller, and the words “retro cake” are visible.

“Ok open your eyes you silly dirt children! Behold, my genius made manifest! A DEVICE THST CAN PLAY EVERY SINGLE SIMUGAME MADE IN TBE PAST 300 YEARS!”

Auroras eyes light up, “Does that mean?”

“Yep”

She squeals and almost sprints over, dragging Kal with her.  As everyone is distracted by that, I grab the real suprise from my pocket.

My exo grumbles as I drop down to one knee, Scarlett hear it and turns, I look up at her. I find the ring in my pocket, and hold it out to her.

“Scarlett Jones. Will you make me the happiest little, and Ms. Kim put it, Bleachboy in all of this galaxy and Marry me?”

Her eyes well up with tears and for one microscopic second I think I’ve screwed it up.

And then she says it

That one little word

“Yes”

I slide the ring onto her finger, stand up, and kiss her.

There is nothing in the galaxy but us in that moment, and I could not be happier.

Tyler looks at me and raises an eyebrow, but drops it and shows those infamous dimples

“We never did have the conversation did we?”
