a/n: i did a poll a lil while back to ask what vibe everyone wanted for sannie’s bday fic and soft, sweet love making with husband sannie won by a landslide ~~ but ofc i had to add my lil spin to it and made him a hybrid husband in heat hehe <33 i wrote this all in one go just rn bc i’m a ✨chronic procrastinator✨ so i had less time to perfect it but i hope it’s just as enjoyable as my other fics 🥹🫶🏼 that being said, enjoy lovelies~

Tumblr media
“Hush, little baby, don’t you cry, mama’s gonna sing you a lullaby,” you cooed gently in a sing-song voice to the sweet angel laying still inside her crib, continuing your soft serenade until her eyes closed, surrendering to another night of much needed rest after a long day of adventure and learning, her tiny fingers slowly releasing the grip they had on one of yours, her tiny fluffy tail uncurling from your wrist. When you saw that your babygirl had fallen asleep, you gave her a loving kiss on the forehead, before exiting the bedroom and heading to your own.
It had taken a fair amount of time to get your baby to go to sleep, making you wonder if your husband had fallen asleep himself while he was waiting for you to come back. He must’ve been tired, especially after how worked up he was during the day, zooming around the house to get chores done despite there not being a rush, not even giving you the opportunity to make dinner either when he put his signature ‘kiss the cat’ apron on, and somehow still having the energy to run a few miles on his treadmill afterwards, claiming he still had the zoomies.
As soon as you cracked open the door, you could hear whimpering and soft, breathy panting coming from deeper inside the low lit room, a few candles burning away on your respective nightstands. Poor, sweet Sannie was probably having a nightmare of some sort. You would have to wake him.
“Baby, nnngh, need you, need you so bad, wanna be inside you, need to give you more kitties,” San voiced desperately to no one, hunched over and driving his heavy, leaking cock back and forth across the plush, pre-cum stained pillow that was kept on your side of the bed, his sweaty raven bangs sticking to his forehead, his tufted ears splayed out in opposite directions. He lowered his head further to take in your warm, flowery scent, letting out an instinctive growl and bucking his hips forward until he began to emit little breathy ‘ah, ah, ah’s’. He slowly dragged his throbbing cock along the feathered pillow, leaving thick, milky cum shots onto the previously pristine material. “Cummingggg, filling you up so deep, mama, it won’t stop….”
Well, it seems like you wouldn’t have to wake him. Your husband was already wide awake and seemingly trying to impregnate your pillow. You entered the room and closed the door behind you, causing San to look up at you with big boba eyes, his ears now on high alert, sheepishness overtaking his blushing features and a gentle, understanding one forming on yours. “Oh, my sweet Sannie, is this why you were so active today? Are you in a rut?”
San tried to cover up the evidence he left all over your pillow, his long fluffy tail curling shyly around one of his bare legs, his stained briefs riding up a bit near his inner thighs. “I-i didn’t wanna tell you because it’s hard for me to control myself when I’m like this…I can only think of one thing…”
You took a few steps forward until you were standing at the foot of the bed, hovering over San, your hands already making their way to his overheated face to caress it. “And what is that, kitty?”
San just about melted into your touch, his hot breath fanning over your skin when he sighed, gazing up at you past his fluttering lashes. “Breeding my beautiful wife…” he whispered softly, turning his head to press a lingering kiss into the palm of your hand. “I want to make love to you….feel and taste every single inch of you…remind you why you’re mine…” He whimpered, closing his eyes for a second, before they returned to you, his eyebrows upturned with desperation, his glistening lips parted ever so slightly. “I’m burning up just thinking about it…”
You leaned down to press a gentle kiss onto his forehead, then his cheek, leaving one on his trembling lips afterwards. “Then, what are you waiting for, Sannie? Let’s play.”
-
“Baby, your pretty kitty, mmmnn, feels so good,” San panted, breaking the heated, messy kiss you were sharing to moan from the way you were eagerly grinding yourself on his lap, his hardened cock pressing up directly into your slippery, hot cunt, a bit of drool escaping his lips, only for you to lap it up from his chin, before your tongue repeatedly swirled around his. “Wanna knot you…”
“Not yet, Sannie….wanna have more fun with you first…” When San began to whimper and squirm around, you reached past his head to grab onto the headboard with both hands, pressing your forehead to his to keep him locked in on you. “You wanna feel me all over, yeah?” You moved your hips in a more precise motion, the pronounced edge of his cockhead catching onto your clit each time your cunt dragged up and down his length, making the both of you let out a collective moan. You lifted up your body a bit so that your heavy tits were bouncing ever so slightly in his face, watching as your husband fell into a trance. “Wanna taste me too, don’t you, baby?”
“Yes, mama, wan’ it all,” San nodded drunkenly, repeatedly licking at his lips and fangs, bringing his hands up to your tits to feel the weight of them, squeezing into them slightly, his tail quickly slamming against the side of the bed as though he were a dog. He knew they were filled with milk, and it drove him absolutely nuts.
How adorable. Your kitten was too predictable. You pressed your tits together, holding them near his pretty blushing face. “Does kitty need milk?”
“Yes, please!” San opened his mouth up just in time for you to press your chest into his face, his lips closing around one of your nipples, licking and sucking at it until he began to taste the sweet essence of your milk. Deep purrs reverberated from his chest and throat, clearly content, letting go of one tit to focus on the other, pinching your nipple to watch as your milk spurted out of it and landed on his small pink tongue.
“Nnngh, that’s good, baby…” Humming, you ran your fingers through your husband’s soft hair as he gently coaxed more of the milkiness out of your tits one by one, eventually reaching down to rub your thumbs over his nipples, rolling them in circles until he began to let out muffled moans and whimpers. “Sannie’s so sensitive, hm? Even more sensitive now that he’s in a rut…so desperate for Mommy’s kitty.”
San gulped your sweetness down, a few drops dribbling down his chest, before he gasped at the sensation of you pinching his sensitive buds. “Y-yes, Sannie wants to be inside mama so bad….” He nibbled on one of your puffy nipples, dragging his rough tongue over it just to hear you whine, looking up at you to take in your suddenly submissive gaze. “My pretty girl’s sensitive too, I take it.”
“Always, because of that tongue of yours…” you murmured, digging your nails into the headboard when he forcefully pushed your tits together and ran his tongue back and forth over your nipples, biting them with his fangs for good measure.
“S-sannie…!”
When San felt a fresh wave of slick leak out onto his lap, his eyes started to narrow into slits, his instinctive urge to dominate you beginning to slip past the surface of his hazy mind. “So wet for me, aren’t you, sweetheart? It’s all going to waste too….Such a shame…”
“Wanna lick it up, kitty?” you asked sweetly, bringing your lips down to his, tasting the sweetness of your milk on his moving tongue.
“Mm. Sit on my face, princess,” he commanded in a slightly deeper tone, waiting for you to climb off of him so that he could lower himself down onto the bed. Just as you faced away from him and lifted your leg up to go over him, San grabbed you by your soft hips and pulled you down onto his face, immediately getting to work.
San dipped his tongue between your slick lips and dragged it up, painfully slow at first, so that he could savor your warm taste, licking a long stripe toward and then over your clit. He repeated this action until all that could be heard in the room was his wet tongue coming in contact with your soaking cunt, along with the groans he was letting out with each lick. Opening his eyes to admire your pretty plush pussy, he pressed a kiss onto your bud, before sucking on it with varying degrees of intensity, reveling in the way his pretty wife moaned desperately for more. “That’s it, huh, babygirl? Your pussy’s getting so messy, you must be getting close already….”
“F-fuck, yes, I’m close…don’t stop, Sannie,” you sighed out, suddenly distracted by the sight of your husband’s throbbing cock standing at full attention between his thighs. Licking at your lips, you carefully lowered yourself down until you could slurp and suck the pre-cum that pooled out of his reddened cockhead with ease, opening your mouth wide enough to take most of his cock down your throat inch by inch.
“Oh my god, baby, I won’t last if you do that….” San tossed his head back for a second, temporarily losing himself to the pleasure of having his cock buried inside the hot, wet heaven of your mouth and throat, moaning hoarsely all the while. Feeling more of your slick drip onto his heated skin, he remembered about his current mission. Once his tongue returned to your dripping slit, you started to rock your hips in time with San’s lips, your clit even bumping against your husband’s nose, your thighs beginning to tremble.
You took San’s cock down your throat as deep as it would go, using your spilling saliva to jerk off the rest of his length that you couldn’t reach with your mouth, hearing him begin to emit muffled whimpers and curses against your pulsing cunt, feeling his thighs tighten up underneath your touch.
You continued to move in sync, your hips now desperately rocking against San’s splayed out tongue, your moans playing a hypnotic rhythm. You always seemed to fall into this matching pattern of giving and receiving, losing yourselves in each other’s love and pleasure. Just as you began to squirm around, San’s hands slipped from your thighs where they were previously squeezing to your waist, wrapping them tightly around your middle to keep you still as your release poured out onto his tongue.
“Sannieeee, so good, so good, gonna cum,” you whined out once you pulled yourself off of his cock, your lips connected to the sticky tip with a few strands of milky saliva.
“Me too, baby, me too. Fuck, take it for me, okay? Be good and take it all,” San moaned against your convulsing cunt, lapping up the rest of your arousal, just as he began to shudder, forcefully tossing his head back into his pillow.
You caught the seemingly endless stream of cum on your tongue, some of it shooting into the back of your throat. You swallowed it all without hesitation, before climbing off of him and leaning down to press your lips onto his.
He eagerly kissed you back, gently lowering you down onto the mattress so that he could climb on top of you, the both of you desperately exchanging your warm arousal with one another, only breaking the dizzying kiss when neither of you could take a proper breath. “I love you, Y/N…” he whispered near your cheek.
“I love you too, San…”
Gazing deeply into your half-lidded eyes, San gently lowered his body weight onto you, not having to ask to know what you both needed when he positioned himself near your entrance and slipped right in, the both of you moaning in unison.
“Ready for my litter, baby? I’m gonna fill you up over and over, okay? I won’t stop until you tell me to…” Saliva pooled in San’s mouth as a low, deep purr rumbled inside his chest. Part human or not, your husband’s cat-like traits still made themselves present when he was sheathed inside you like this, especially now that he was in a rut.
“Yes, give it all to me, Sannie, I want your kitties,” you begged breathlessly, hardly able to think now that you were getting stretched out by your husband’s thick length, your legs hooking around his small waist once he began to recklessly drill himself into you.
“I’ll give it all to you, baby, have it all, have all of me.” Huffing and puffing, San pounded his cock into you, slipping out a few times due to how incredibly wet you were, taking the time to slap his cock down onto your abdomen, just to show the both of you how his length just about reached your ribs, watching you swallow hard, your hazy, tear filled eyes sparkling with anticipation.
“I can take it, Sannie. I can, I promise,” you reminded him gently, just as he slipped back inside you, pounding your pussy as if he had never stopped.
“Yes, you can, you’re gonna take it all, because you’re mine, mine, mine,” San groaned out near your ear like a mantra, his heavy body flush against yours, your legs hanging off of his broad shoulders, slamming his cock into you like you were just a toy, your cunt taking it like you were made specifically for him, his tail wrapped tightly around one of your ankles, almost acting as an anchor to keep the both of you from slipping out of reality.
“Yours, yours, yours…” you chanted back, your nails starting to dig and rake down his back, starting to fade away once your high rapidly took over. “Sannieeee, give me your knot, please…”
Almost as if on command, San’s knot began to form inside your cunt, stretching you out to the max. He pulled back slightly so that he could press his hands into your abdomen, feeling just how thick and heavy his cock was inside of you. “That’s my good girl…Look at you….my pretty little wife, taking all of my knot like this. It’s gonna break and your womb’s gonna be flooded with my cum, you know…You wanna get knocked up again for me, baby?”
“Mm-hmm!”
He nosed at your neck, taking in your pretty scent, whispering, “Help me breed you, baby.”
“Breed me, kitty….Make me yours forever…” You clutched your hands into his waist and pulled his hips taut to yours, your cunt clenching around his cock just as San melted into you, whispering countless promises of love, mixed with involuntary curses into your ear, the dam finally breaking.
A short, broken cry tore out of your throat as you squirted onto San’s twitching cock, endless waves of hot cum pouring out past your cervix and filling your womb up with his potent seed, rendering you vulnerable to the very real possibility of impregnation by your dear hybrid husband. You wouldn’t have it any other way.
Purring, San pulled you into his arms and began to lick at the tears that had stained your flushed cheeks, grooming you in his own special way. He nuzzled into you, his tail coiling protectively around one of your wrists, his lips ghosting along your jaw, one of his twitching ears tickling your own. “We’ll have to paint our baby girl’s room half blue if we end up having a boy.”
You giggled, nuzzling into your husband’s loving touch. Bold of you to assume we won’t have another girl.”
San smiled at you, his brown eyes sparkling with love and adoration for you. “That’s fine. I’m a girl dad, after all.”

chicken scratch
pairing: carmen 'carmy' berzatto x reader rating: t (for now) length: 1,028 words content: mild cursing summary: you've never met your neighbour, but you've received plenty of their mail and now, a large package. of all the stories you made up in your head about who this 'carmen berzatto' could be, the real thing might just be your new favourite. a/n: brain rot means a middle of the night word dump. will likely be the first of many little stories about your next door neighbour, carmen, because that dynamic lives in my mind rent free. fluff for now, but we all know what that means (it means it'll definitely become nsfw later, sooner probably). read part two link to ao3 here!
Tumblr media
The first letter was a mistake, the second one was a coincidence. The third one was not a big deal and the fourth was only a little more than a nuisance. But when a much larger package thudded against your front door at the ass crack of dawn, the recipient clearly written across the top of the cardboard box as your neighbour… well, that was just flat out annoying at this point. You hadn't even known deliveries made their rounds so early in the day and as big as the box was, when you lifted it to carry next door, it weighed lighter than a feather.
The pile of letters that accidentally found their way to your apartment were usually slipped through the small mailbox of your neighbour's, sometimes under the door. You'd thought about dropping the package and simply going about your day, but curiosity got the better of you as your knuckles rapped against the door and waited instead.
What could a Carmen Berzatto have possibly required to be delivered at this time?
In the time you've lived in the building, there'd been very few run-ins with other tenants. Not that you'd ever complain, perfectly content with your own company. You made friends with one elderly lady who always offered you some of her freshly baked bread, and in return you picked her up flowers and some extra produce on your farmer's market runs. The landlord wasn't your friend, but he wasn't your enemy either, and somehow you'd convinced him to let you paint your bathroom your favourite colour with little to no resistance. But your next door neighbour remained a mystery, one you've conjured up about a dozen different backstories and personalities for.
Carmen Berzatto, notorious criminal, hiding out in a tiny Chicago apartment. Carmen Berzatto, hundred-year-old vampire, who might either burn in the sun or look like they'd walked through a glitter bomb. Carmen Berzatto, part time Chicagoan, who actually doesn't live here anymore and maybe there's a squatter inside instead. Carmen Berzatto, the tax evader, because why else would they have so much goddamn mail being sent to them?
You'd been lost in the web of made-up histories for your neighbour when the door swung open to reveal said neighbour, and it slowly dawned on you that there wasn't a single story where you imagined Carmen Berzatto to look like that.
Piercing, wide blue eyes and a head of shaggy brown tufts that made you want to tangle your fingers through them, especially that small curl dangling just above his forehead.
"Hi." His greeting was laced with mild confusion that seemed immediately alleviated when his attention dropped to the box in your hands. "Oh."
"Hi," you blurted out, lifting the package, "got another one for you."
"I—I'm sorry about— about, uh, about all of that. It won't happen again."
"Won't it?" You were mostly teasing now. Although you were jolted awake by the sound of it thrashing against your door, and although you were rather peeved about getting up before you wanted to, you couldn't find it in yourself to be irritated anymore.
Carmen reached out to take the box from you, giving it a small shake with what you thought was a ghost of a smile before he set it down to the side somewhere you couldn't see. "It won't. I'm sorry." The flirt of his tongue along his lips brought your gaze toward it before you met his eyes again.
Those stunning icy blues.
"It's okay, nothing to be sorry for."
"I must've really fucked up on the— the uh, apartment number."
"What?"
"The apartment number."
"Yeah," you looked at him a bit dumbfounded, gaze darting to the door where the number and letter were, "what about it?"
"I—"
"You don't know your apartment number?"
"My writing's shit."
Both of you seemed to blink in unison, another lick of Carmen's lips which you mirrored before a stupid smile curled your lips. "Oh."
"Not a good excuse, I know." He nodded, jaw working as he turned his head to the metal on the door, a short and deep chuckle sounding from him. "Again, I—"
"Not sorry," you shook your head, "just chicken scratch."
For a moment, Carmen stared at you, and if it wasn't bad enough to have those too-blue eyes simply looking at you, to find them nearly boring holes as they danced between your eyes and across your face made you want to evaporate. Made you wish the ground would open up and swallow you hole. Made you want to drown in the depths of the ocean blues that were his irises.
"Just chicken scratch," he murmured after a beat of silence and what was once a ghost of a smile was definitely something now, the corner of his mouth lifting enough to wrinkle the corner of his eye. Enough to show you the dimple in his cheek. "Thanks for— for bringing the package."
"Yeah." And the smile unfurling on your lips was nothing short of genuine. "You're welcome, Carmen."
"Just, uh, just Carm is good. Carmy."
"Okay."
Another beat passed where you thought you might have been rendered frozen by one of your favourite shades of blue, glued to the floor through hypnosis, until a sound down the hall caught your ear and you nodded at Carmen. Turning on your heel, you took the first step back to your apartment, then another, and another.
And it wasn't until you had your hand stretched out to grab for your doorknob when you heard his voice echo from where you'd came. "See you around?"
"Yeah."
"Okay."
The moment hung in the air on a thin thread, the both of you sharing furtive and hidden smiles before his door closed and yours opened.
Carmen Berzatto, not a notorious criminal (to your knowledge) or a hundred-year-old vampire (yet). Nor was he a part-time Chicagoan (not with that accent) or a tax evader (maybe). None of the ideas you had floating in your mind about your neighbour even came close to the real thing.
Carmen Berzatto, curly-haired blue-eyed boy-next-door with chicken scratch for writing and a fleeting dimple you wanted to see again.

Series Masterlist ⭐︎ Previous Chapter ⭐︎ Next Chapter
The rain paddles against your windows softly, the sun is hidden behind the heavy dark clouds, and the light wind rustles the trees outside. You didn’t close the blinds last night, but it doesn’t matter anyways, it’s dark and gloomy outside.
The soft covers touch your bare skin, the smell of cologne is heavy in the air, along with the smell of sex that still lingers after the previous night.
The weight of his arm keeps you in place, keeps you close, he is making your heart flutter in this early morning hour already.
He is facing you, just as you are facing him. His palm rests on your lower back, his legs tangled with yours underneath the sheets. He pulls you closer when you try to move, tightening his hold on you, but he is still so fast asleep. His lashes look so much longer when his eyes are closed, his features are completely relaxed, he is breathing softly, his heart beats against your palm as you keep your hand close to it.
You eye the moles on his skin and the scars on his body.
Your hands always itch to touch him, to graze his skin with the tips of your fingers, and you can do so when he’s fast asleep and unaware of your loving touches.
You raise your hand up to his face, pushing away the curl that hangs loosely over his forehead. Your touch is light as a feather as you trace the bridge of his nose, and his cheek, before you return your hand back to his chest, freezing when a sigh falls from his lips and he stirs in his sleep, pulling you tighter against him in the process before he sinks deeper into the pillows, eyes still shut and heart still beating softly.
You breathe out and relax when he continues sleeping deeply.
You don’t want to get caught admiring him, and touching him like this, when only a few days ago, you feared that you would lose him after Eddie confronted you both.
You cried yourself to sleep that night.
His words cut deep, and the fear of losing him added to the hurt. You weren’t ready to lose this, you weren’t ready to lose him, and you thought that you were so very close to it until he showed up the next morning, and asked if things would stay the same between you and him now that someone found out.
The weight that stayed on your shoulders nearly crushed you, but he took it off you, and without realizing that he did, he took some of your worries too, just not the pain, and the mark he left on your heart with a few simple words. But it didn’t matter, because kissing him and feeling his touch again, was all that mattered, to know that it wasn’t over just yet… that mattered.
You can hide the sadness and the pain when he holds you like this, you can even forget about it… momentarily.
You forgot about it last night, when he kissed your neck and he marked your skin, when he unraveled you with his tongue and the touch of his hands, when he split you open and kissed you like you were his, when he looked into your eyes and he held your wrist as the tips of his fingers touched your palm, like he wanted to entwine them with yours and feel you closer and closer as you were chest to chest and his lips moved with yours like none have ever did before.
Shivers run down your spine, and butterflies dance in your stomach when the sound of his voice calling out your name echoes in your mind.
You might not be the one for him. And you know that there might be others, but you don’t even want to let your mind go there, just the mere thought of it, fills you with nausea. He keeps coming back to you, that’s what matters the most to you. You know that you can give him so much more than anyone else ever could. If only he let you. If only there was a chance.
You nearly jump from the bed when the ringing of the doorbell pulls you out of your thoughts, and it echoes through the quiet house.
Your eyes widen, and your heart starts pounding as panic settles deep in your chest. You stare at Steve, who is peacefully asleep, still.
You flinch at the second ringing.
“Fuck,” you whisper when you remember the burgundy car in your driveway. There is no reason for Steve to be at your place so early in the morning. There is no believable explanation either, what will you say to whoever it is on the other side of the door?
If this is one of your friends, you are screwed, so screwed.
You know, as a matter of fact, that it isn’t Eddie – he wouldn’t show up this early unless it was an emergency, and even then, he’d be in your room by now.
“Steve,” you whisper, trying to shake him awake, but he only grumbles in his sleep and hides his face further into the pillows.
You sigh.
You push his arm off and escape his embrace. You throw the covers off, and jump up from your bed, standing in only your underwear for a moment as you search for your clothes, you reach for his shirt instead and throw it on, before you rush out of the room, trying to fix your messy hair as you run down the stairs.
You don’t have much time to come up with lies and excuses as to why Steve’s car is in your driveway, whoever it is on the other side of the door, is getting a little impatient.
“I’m coming,” you grumble and unlock the front door before you rip it open, holding your breath.
“Finally!”
You sigh out in relief, rolling your eyes at your own panic. You step aside and open the door a little wider.
“What took you so long?” Your sister murmurs as she steps inside and brushes past you. She is carrying a bag in one hand and the bright pink baby carrier your baby niece is currently sleeping in.
All your annoyance leaves your body right this second, your eyes soften and a smile appears on your face.
“Hello to you too, Twinkie.”
She rolls her eyes at your nickname but pulls you in for a side hug after dropping the bag on the ground.
“Give me her,” you smile as you take the carrier from her arm, and carry it into the living room, smiling as you eye the little features of the baby girl. You put the carrier down on the couch. “Hi Francine,” you whisper, gently tapping her tiny nose. “She’s so big already!”
Your sister laughs as she follows you into the living room after kicking off her shoes, “you’ve seen her last week, I don’t think she grew much.”
“She kind of did,” you whisper, taking Francine’s tiny hand. “They grow so fast.”
Your sister walks over to the window, peeking outside, she clears her throat, “do I wanna know whose car that is?”
You glance over your shoulder and swallow nervously.
You’re glad that her memory is awful.
Everyone knows who is driving the burgundy BMW, and your sister still lived in Hawkins when he got it. She should know who it belongs to.
Her lips curl into a smirk, and she wiggles her brows, “casual hook up, or… is it something serious?”
You know that she has been waiting for this day.
It is something serious, to you.
It is something serious when he holds you closely and kisses you softly, when his eyes soften and his lips curl into a smile at the sight of you.
It is something serious when your heart flutters every time his knuckles brush against yours.
It is something serious when you fall asleep in his arms and wake up in the very same spot.
It is something serious when you keep falling and falling with no end in sight.
Will you ever stop falling in love with him?
Will there ever be a moment where your feelings and your love will stop at one level, or will you continue falling harder every passing moment?
Your sister raises her eyebrows, lips curling into an even bigger smile, when she notices the flustered look on your face, the dreamy look in your eyes.
“Something serious, huh?”
You blink.
Staring at her, with your cheeks now feeling warm… way too warm, you shake your head quickly.
“N-No.”
You curse inwardly, for giving yourself away so easily with your stuttering and your blushing. That’s not how you ever reacted before when she mentioned any of your hookups.
She grins at you, wiggling her eyebrows, “mhm sure, Daisy.”
You roll your eyes at her teasing glances, but the nickname makes you smile.
Out of all the flowers, your mom loved Daisies the most, she would put the dainty flowers in your braids, and behind your ear whenever you were out in the garden. You would pick them for her and make little bouquets to surprise her with.
She always called you her little Daisy.
Your sister picked up on that nickname, though she used it to mock you at first when she went through a weird phase of hating flowers – which is really ironic considering the flower shop she ended up working at when she moved to the city.
She could’ve given you another nickname, something silly – something like the name you gave to her, but she spared you, luckily.
“Shut up, Twinkie,” you mumble, as you look back at your niece, who is beginning to stir in her sleep, her long lashes fluttering as small noises escape her mouth. “As happy as I am to see this little bean, why are you here at uh,” you pause, turning your head to look at the clock on the wall, “ten in the morning?” You ask.
She makes her way over to you, a sweet smile appearing on her face, as she gives you her best puppy eyes.
“I was hoping that you could look after Francine?” She asks, still smiling. “Lisa is getting married soon, and she asked me to go wedding dress shopping with her, I can’t take her, we’ll probably be out all day, and I can’t wait for Ethan to get home, his shift won’t end before–”
“It’s fine, I’ll look after her,” you interrupt her, despite the slight nervousness that rises up in you.
You have no experience with babies at all, you have given her the bottle, you even changed her diaper, but your sister was around, and you didn’t spend the whole day alone with her.
She sighs in relief, she puts her hand on your shoulder, “oh thank you!”
“Don’t mention it, I’d never say no to hanging out with my favorite girl.”
“You need to spend more time with her anyways, you coming once a week isn’t enough!”
You frown at your sister, “you’re the one who moved away!”
She waves her hand at you, walking around the couch, she walks over to the carrier, “she always does that little scrunch with her nose before she wakes up.”
You smile, watching as she leans in to place a gentle kiss to her daughter’s cheek.
“Okay,” she whispers, pulling back to look at you, “I put everything into the bag, diapers, bottles, formula, a change of clothes in case her diapers leak, and uh… pacifiers. And uh, you know if she cries just lie down with her and put her on your chest, she loves cuddles.”
You nod, “yeah, I know, I haven’t forgotten. I got this.”
“Yeah you do, Daisy. And if you need help, just call Eddie–”
“Are you kidding?” You laugh, shaking your head as amusement flashes in your eyes.
Eddie and Max were there, the last time your sister showed up with her husband and little Francine.
While the redhead was rather excited to hold the little girl, Eddie felt too afraid to even touch her, and he nearly gagged when Max chased him with a dirty diaper.
“He looked at her like he was scared of her!”
Your sister laughs, “yeah, right. Okay, so not Eddie then, I’m sure Max would love to help though, or maybe someone else – but I’ll get going now, I promise, I’ll make it up to you, you got this, Daisy.” She smiles, ruffling your hair, she leans down to look at her daughter one more time, “bye bug, I’ll see you soon,” she whispers and squeezes her tiny foot before she steps away. “Okay, I’ll see you later.”
“Yeah, see you later, Twinkie.”
The moment the front door is slammed shut, you let out a long sigh, and throw your head back against the pillows on your couch. You bring your hand up to your face and pinch the bridge of your nose.
You are still tired, and it seems as though Steve is still sleeping soundly.
You want nothing more than to return back to bed and sink into your pillows again.
You definitely won’t get any sleep now, but you still get up and slowly lift the baby carrier, hoping that the movement won’t wake her up. You try to be careful as you make your way out of the living room and up the stairs.
When you walk into your room, you find Steve now laying on his stomach, his face buried in your pillow. The sheets are low on his body, his whole back is exposed.
The tiny cooing sounds from inside the carrier, cause your lips to curl into a big smile. You place it down on your carpet, and kneel down, giggling when you’re met by her big eyes. She starts wiggling around when she sees you.
“Hi little angel,” you whisper, and lean closer to unfasten the safety belts, before you lift her up from the carrier, placing your right hand behind her head, you pull her into your chest, her hand instantly reaches for your hair, clasping her tiny fingers around it, she makes you laugh when she starts pulling it, making happy noises while she does so.
You sit down on your bed, and lift your legs up, scooting back until you’re resting against the pillows behind you. You pull the covers over your lower body.
A small squeal leaves her mouth.
“Shh, someone’s sleeping,” you whisper, tapping her little nose, glancing at Steve who is starting to stir in his sleep.
You place her on your lap, and giggle at the cuteness as she stretches her little legs out. “That’s a cute onesie,” you whisper, rubbing her belly, “I bet you picked that yourself didn’t you? Pink is a pretty color on you, princess.”
She babbles and wiggles around as she stares at you with her big eyes.
Your voice, and the small coos pull Steve out of his deep sleep, his mind is still in a haze, his eyes still closed.
“Da da da.”
Your giggle follows the tiny voice.
Steve scrunches his brows together, gripping the pillow underneath him, he slowly opens his eyes and looks at your side of the bed, his lips part and his eyes widen completely, something in his chest stirs strongly as he stares at the sight in front of him.
He is still sleeping.
He is still dreaming.
A smile is resting on your face, eyes lightened up as you entertain the little baby girl on your lap, a pink bow around her head, big eyes resembling your own as she stares at you with a smile on her face, her hair color is the same as yours.
Steve swallows the lump that grew in his throat, warmth settles in his chest, surrounding his heart and filling it with something, with adoration.
His eyes soften when you lean down to kiss her forehead, squishing her tiny cheeks.
“You’re the prettiest girl, Francis,” you whisper, using her nickname.
His lips curl into a smile, despite the confusion that still lingers in his features.
This is surely one of his dreams, he is convinced of it, why else would he wake up beside you, and a baby who looks like you?
But when you turn to face him, and the little girl follows your movement, looking at him with wide eyes, he isn’t so sure anymore.
He blinks, watching as you reach for Francis’s little arm, waving her tiny hand at him, “say hi Steve.”
The little girl babbles even louder, making a grabby hand at him.
Steve smiles at her, raising his hand up, he waves at her.
You can’t help but laugh at the lost and confused look on his face, his brows are pulled together, his lips parted as he looks between you and your niece.
He turns around on his back, and pushes himself so he’s leaning against your headboard, adjusting the cover, he pulls it up higher. He looks around the room, before his eyes return to the two of you, he runs his fingers through his messy hair, eyes flickering back and forth.
Your lips tug into a smirk, you can tell that he doesn’t understand a thing right now.
You look at him, as you pull your niece closer, holding her up, you press her against your chest, “can you believe that we made a baby overnight?”
You almost burst into laughter when his brown eyes widened with pure shock, and he choked a little.
He blinks, shaking his head, “I know I just woke up, and I’m still sleepy… but… I still kind of remember biology.”
Francine makes another grabby hand at him, “ma ma.”
“I dunno, but I’m pretty sure she just called you mama.”
Steve’s cheeks heat up, and he turns away from you, looking around your room again before his eyes catch the picture on your nightstand, the one of you and your sister. Oh.
“Ah… Your niece,” Steve murmurs as he looks back at the two of you.
“Good morning, Harrington,” you giggle. Francine copies your giggle, and Steve can’t help but smile. “Oh you like that name, huh? It’s funny isn’t it? Harrington.” Her little eyes crinkle, and she starts babbling with a laugh. Steve keeps her eyes on her, smiling at the little girl.
“That’s Francine,” you smile, introducing your niece to him.
Steve lifts his hand up, waving his fingers at her, “hi Francine, I’m Steve.”
She squirms in your arms, making happy noises as she blinks at him. Steve chuckles, he scoots closer to you, and he lifts his hand, and touches her tiny one. Francine wraps her hand around his finger, gripping it tightly, making his smile even bigger.
“Is your sister here?” He asks, without looking away from the little girl.
You shake your head, “no, she asked me to babysit today. So uh… I’ll be busy with my girl here today.”
The urge to stay here with you, and this cute little mini you, feels so strong.
“Want me to help?” Steve asks.
You’re a little stunned by his question, and can only stare in surprise.
“Huh?”
“I mean, I don’t mind staying to help,” Steve shrugs, glancing at you for a second before he gives his attention back to Francine, who stares at him in awe.
The thought of spending a whole day with Steve, taking care of a baby with him, sounds like heaven.
The only reason why he’s ever even around you without the group is because of sex, and that only. You don’t meet up just to watch movies, cook together or anything else, you only meet up for one thing, that’s all.
The fact that he is willing to just spend time with you, without expecting anything to happen baffles you a little.
“I-I… Do you really want to stay?”
He nods.
“Not much of a choice, to be honest,” he murmurs with a fond smile on his face as he gestures to your niece who is still holding his finger tightly.
“O-Okay,” you whisper, shakily as nervousness and excitement rise up in you.
“She’s so adorable,” Steve whispers, chuckling when Francine babbles at him, “she looks like you.”
You smile before you realize what he just said, and heat rushes to your cheeks.
She’s so adorable, she looks like you.
“I-I uh,” you stutter, trying to keep your cool, “so you’re gonna stay then?”
“Yeah, I’d love to hang out with Blondie and mini Blondie over here,” he chuckles as he taps her nose.
Your heart could burst right then and there, your cheeks feeling incredibly hot the longer you sit here and stare at him.
“Cool,” you say with a small voice as you suddenly feel the need to escape for a moment, “would you mind looking after her for a moment then? I wanna take a quick shower or else I’ll walk around looking like a bum all day.”
Steve turns to look at you, he takes in the sight of your messy hair, and the shirt on your body, only now noticing that it’s his. His insides tingle, and his lips curl into a smile.
You look like a cute bum. He almost blurts out, but bites his tongue.
“Sure, go ahead, me and Francine are just gonna hang out, right?”
She squeals in response, making jumpy movements.
You both laugh at her.
You lay her down beside him, and tickle her belly, giggling when she starts kicking her feet, “alright, I’ll be right back, angel.”
Steve doesn’t even notice how big his smile is, how soft his eyes are as he stares at you, how warm the feeling in his chest is.
“She might roll over on her belly, and if she gets a little fuzzy just pick her up, she loves snuggles. I’m gonna be quick.”
Steve scoots closer to Francine, leaning his elbow on the pillow, he rests his head against his palm, and glances at you, “it’s fine, take your time, I’m just gonna chat with her.”
Francine is still kicking her feet and waving around with her little arms.
“Oh yeah, she’s very talkative,” you giggle, and get up from the bed, you walk over to your dresser and pick out some clothes to change into. As much as you would love to wear his shirt all day, he needs it himself – although, you wouldn’t mind him walking around shirtless.
Once you get everything you need, you turn back to take a look at them, and you nearly melt into a puddle when you see the way she is still clutching his finger, kicking her legs and babbling something to him, while he watches her with a smile on his face.
“O-Okay, I’ll be right back.”
You leave the room in a haste, but Steve doesn’t even notice, too busy staring at little Francine. He adores the resemblance of you, and the color of her eyes that matches yours, she truly looks like you.
Steve can’t remember the last time he saw or even held a baby, he’s not sure if he ever even held one. He was ten when one of his cousins was born, but he didn’t care to hold him back then.
Francine keeps making a grabby hand at him, while she tugs at his finger, starting to get fuzzy after a few minutes pass without your presence in the room.
He sits up straighter and pulls the blanket up higher, he reaches for one of your throw pillows and places it on his lap.
“Alright Francine,” Steve whispers, he takes a deep breath and furrows his brows in concentration as he carefully lifts her up, supporting her head with his palm, he pulls her closer and lays her down on the soft pillow.
She coos and starts blowing bubbles, making Steve laugh.
“Oh, you’re so adorable,” he smiles, pulling her a little closer, “did you pick that bow today?” He asks, eying the headband around her little head.
She makes a few grunting noises, though looking at him with a happy look on her face.
“Your auntie loves those bows too, she puts some in her ponytails sometimes,” Steve says, talking to her as though he will get more than just a few babbles from her. “I bet you’re gonna steal them from her someday–”
Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrt
Steve’s face pales at the sound, his eyes widen.
The noise that came from her diapers sounded more than just air.
“Oh fuck,” he mumbles before his eyes widen further at the curse word that just left his lips, “I shouldn’t have said that, shit– I mean, I’m sorry, please forget what I just said,” he rambles, as though she understood a single thing that he said.
Francine babbles, kicking her feet into his stomach with a happy squeal.
“Um,” he panics, looking around the room, “Blondie!?”
“What Steve!?” You call from the bathroom, “it’s been five minutes!”
“I uh–” He mumbles, scratching the back of his neck as he furrows his brows, “code red…?”
You nearly laugh at his choice of words, you only ever used code red in the upside down, for the real emergencies.
You can already guess what happened, and it only makes your amusement grow bigger. You quickly put your clothes on, and brush your hair before you make your way out of the bathroom and back to them.
“Okay, I’m here,” you announce, placing his shirt that you stole earlier on your bed, you walk over to his side, and take a seat beside him, “that was the quickest shower of my life.”
He gets a whiff of your vanilla body wash, of the mint from your toothpaste, and the smell of perfume that lingers in your hair, making his chest flutter.
“She uh– I think she needs a diaper change.”
“Oh,” you laugh, “that’s what you’re panicking about?”
Steve glares at you.
“You wanted to help,” you shrug as you get up again, making your way out of the room again to get the bag with Francine’s stuff. “You gotta learn how to change diapers, Harrington!”
Steve huffs nervously, “no big deal right?” He whispers to Francine.
“Da da da.”
“Yeah,” Steve laughs, “right.”
You come back into the room, and put the bag on the ground, picking out new diapers, wet wipes, baby powder and the spare onesie, along with the thin baby towel that you spread out on your mattress.
“Alright, Lego head,” you raise your eyebrows at him, “do you wanna practice for your future nuggets or are you scared of baby poop?”
He snorts, shaking his head at you.
“No, I’m not scared of baby poop.”
You walk over to them both and lean down before him, you pick Francine up, and scrunch your face up, “yeah, you really need a diaper change, angel.”
Steve watches as you carry her over to the other side, placing her down on the towel you spread out. You undo the buttons of her onesie, smiling at the little girl.
“Well, come on,” you giggle at him, “it’s an experience you gotta make, Steve.”
Steve takes a deep breath, he throws the pillow off his lap and removes the cover. He gets up from the bed, standing there in his boxers for a moment, until his eyes find the sweatpants he discarded last night, he quickly throws them on, along with the shirt you wore earlier.
“Alright,” he murmurs, running his fingers through his hair, he walks up beside you, “just tell me what to do.”
You chuckle at his nervousness, you place your hand on his shoulder, “don’t worry, if Max was able to do it, you can do it too.”
A breathy laugh falls from his lips.
You guide him, giving him a little step by step of what to do.
You watch the way his brows knit together, and the way he is nodding to himself as he follows your words.
He doesn’t even look disgusted when the smell hits him, he only chuckles at the way Francine continues babbling happily.
“She’s a happy baby, isn’t she?”
You nod, smiling down at your niece, “yes she is.”
You hand him the new diapers and the baby powder, before you put the used wipes into the dirty diaper, roll it up carefully and throw it into the trash in your bathroom before you return to your room.
“How old is she?”
“She’s gonna be three months old tomorrow,” you say, smiling as you step up beside him again.
Steve raises his eyebrows at Francine, “oh, you’re gonna be a big girl tomorrow?” He jokes as he tickles her belly, making her laugh.
The smile on your face widens, the feeling in your chest growing stronger and brighter.
Her small giggles, and the fond smile that rests in his tired features spark something deep inside of you, a warming and comforting feeling appears as you watch him take care of her with careful and slow movements.
“Is that okay?” He asks you, gesturing to the diapers he put on her, “or is it too tight?”
You lean closer to him and check the pressure, “no, that’s perfect, Steve.”
“It is?” He asks, surprised.
You nod, and start to put her onesie back on, “yeah, I don’t even know what you panicked about, you’ve done a better job than me, I didn’t know what I was doing the first time,” you laugh. “You did good, Lego head.”
A dimpled grin appears on his face, despite the redness in his cheeks.
“I-I think caring for a bunch of kids that turned into teens turned me into a natural, even babies. I mean, Dustin counts as a baby, doesn’t he?” He jokes, watching the way your eyes crinkle and your lips spread before you burst into giggles.
Francine watches you with big eyes before she copies your giggles like before.
Steve’s eyes light up, as he watches you both.
The warmth in his chest spreads, as happiness rises up in him.
After adjusting her clothes and the bow on her head, you pick her up into your arms, leaning down to kiss her cheek.
You don’t even notice just how soft the look in his eyes, how the ghost of a smile now lingers on his lips, as he stares at the both of you in awe, watching the way Francine buries her face in the crook of your neck, and you keep a gentle hand on the back of her head.
“Do you want some breakfast? I can make you something after I give this princess her bottle, I think she’s getting tired again.”
Steve’s heart thumps strongly in his chest, he can’t deny the emotions of adoration in him as he looks at you with the baby on your arm.
“I can make you a breakfast sandwich or anything else you want.”
Steve blinks.
“Uh, you don’t have to make anything for me, Blondie. I can make you something though.”
You shake your head, “no, you’re my guest, I’ll make you breakfast, and you can feed her if you want.”
“Okay,” he says with a sigh, nodding his head, “I’ll make you lunch or dinner though.”
“Oh, are you gonna woo me with your cooking skills now?” You giggle.
He looks down with a smile, “I promised I would, didn’t I?”
“Yeah, you did.”
Francine clasps her fingers around your hair again, pulling it stronger than before, making you wince a little.
“Okay, okay, someone’s getting a little grumpy now. I’m gonna go make her the bottle.”
“I’ll be right there with you, I’m just gonna go brush my teeth real quick,” Steve gestures to your bathroom, “do you need me to carry the bag down?”
“No, it’s fine, it’s not heavy,” you say as you step towards him, “but can you help me put it on my shoulder?”
“Yeah, of course.”
He grabs the bag and steps towards you, putting the strap around your shoulder. His eyes soften yet again, when he sees you looking down at your niece, smiling as she blinks at you with her big eyes.
Steve doesn’t even notice that his hand still lingers on your shoulder, or that he’s rubbing your back, he is too in awe of the two of you, and that feeling stays with him, even when you leave the room and go downstairs, even when he goes into the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face, he stares at his reflection in the mirror, and he can’t even unsee the happiness and the relaxation in his features, but he decides to pay no mind to it.
When he joins you downstairs, he finds you in the kitchen, finishing up on Francine’s bottle, you’re shaking it, while whispering something to her as you’re still holding her in your arm, still.
Steve doesn’t know what it is, but the sight before him, makes him freeze in his spot.
As you stand there in your kitchen, with a smile on your lips, and a look of adoration in your eyes, you’re cooing at your niece, giggling every time she babbles something at you, he realizes something.
You are comfortable, right now.
You’re in your home, away from the eyes of strangers, hidden from the world that you have only shown one side of yourself to, your walls are down, you are just yourself, and there is no shame behind your eyes, because all your attention goes to someone you adore and love, and don’t feel the need to hide from.
Your eyes shine brightly, your features are relaxed in a way they have never been before, and your smile is so genuine, so real.
You’re talking to her with a small and gentle voice, you hold her tightly against your chest – and you… god you look so beautiful like this.
You look so beautiful with a baby in your arms.
Warmth spreads across his whole body, he likes the sight in front of him, he likes it so much that it should scare him, but it doesn’t.
“There he is, Francis,” you smile, glancing at Steve, you don’t even notice how frozen in place he is, how heaven struck he looks, “are you ready to give her the bottle?”
Steve blinks, snapping out of his mind, he nods at you with a blush on his cheeks.
You brush past him, and gesture for him to follow you into the living room, after you grab the cloth from the counter.
You place the bottle on the coffee table, and wait for him to take a seat on the couch.
“Alright, you gotta tell me what to do,” Steve says nervously, as he sits down, “I’ve never done this before.”
“Don’t be nervous, you got this,” you assure him.
You step between his legs, and lean down to place Francine into his arms.
Without needing to be told, he cradles the back of her head, as he gently pulls her into his arms, a smile spreading on his lips when her big eyes look into his.
“Okay,” you whisper and put the cloth under her chin, adjusting it over her clothes in case a little accident might happen.
“Am I holding her correctly?” Steve asks, looking up at you.
The side of her face is nuzzled into his chest, the back of her head resting in the crook of his arm. You didn’t even need to guide him, he truly is a natural.
“Yeah,” you smile, “you’re doing great.”
You hand him the bottle, and sit down beside him.
“Did you test the temperature?” Steve asks, and you almost want to laugh at his question.
“Yeah Steve, I did.”
He nods at you.
With a chuckle, you pull your feet up onto the sofa and sit on your knees, turning your body towards them.
“Okay, now gently place the teat into her mouth and slowly tilt the bottle, she will do the rest.”
He furrows his brows, poking his tongue through his lips, he focuses on your niece as he follows your words.
You watch him closely, how soft and concentrated his eyes are, how careful his movements are, how small she looks in his arms, how sweet the sight of them is.
Francine raises her little arm, and places her tiny hand on the bottle as she starts sucking on the teat, small noises falling from her.
“Oh my god,” Steve whispers, the biggest smile you have ever seen, now glowing in his features as he looks at her in awe, “she’s the cutest little bean.”
“Yeah, she is,” you smile and tilt your head as you watch them, the fluttering feeling in your chest sparking.
Her eyelashes flutter, her big eyes still staring into his.
“I’m gonna cry, Blondie,” Steve murmurs, adoring the little human in his arms. “She's so tiny and adorable.”
You move closer and reach for the corner of the cloth, wiping away the bit of milk that rolls down her chin.
“You’re gonna have one of those someday too.”
Steve smiles at your words, nodding as he whispers “hopefully.”
But he doesn’t notice the way your own smile falls, the way your eyes sadden for a moment, the way you look down and blink away the feelings you don’t want him to see. And he doesn’t realize how quiet you get, he is too distracted by Francine and the thoughts in his head, the pictures of a future he longs for so badly.
Only when the bottle is empty and he removes it, does he turn back to you, but still too blinded by his mind to see the look in your eyes. You take the bottle from his hand, and place it back on the coffee table.
“You gotta hold her against your chest now,” you tell him and remove the cloth from her body, you place it on his chest instead, “and gently pat her back so she can burp.”
You guide him again, helping him hold her correctly as he places her against his chest, he puts his hand on her back, and starts patting gently.
“Is that good?”
“Yeah,” you whisper and scoot closer to him, you reach for her tiny hand, caressing it as you watch her with a smile on your face, “she’s tired.”
“Yeah, pooping must’ve been really exhausting,” Steve jokes, making you giggle.
“Yeah, totally–”
A loud burp falls from her mouth.
“Oh that was a big one,” Steve chuckles as he stops patting her, “you did good, bug.”
“She didn’t even spit, she usually does a little, wow you really do have magical hands,” you chuckle, and remove the cloth from his shoulder.
“Told you, I’m a natural,” he smiles proudly.
You roll your eyes playfully.
“Do you want me to take her now?” You ask.
He shakes his head at you, “can I hold her for a while?”
Confusion flashes in your eyes. You know how badly he needs his coffee in the mornings, it’s one of the first things he does after he wakes up, going into the kitchen to brew his beloved morning coffee. He didn’t even take a single sip yet, but he doesn’t seem to mind, he is too in awe of the baby on his chest.
Realization replaces the look in your eyes – he is entering a baby fever trance, with your niece nonetheless. It makes your smile reappear, that’s how you feel too, every time you get to spend time with her.
“Of course,” you whisper, as your gaze softens.
Francine’s eyelashes flutter, her blinking getting slower and lesser.
“She’s gonna pass out though, you should sit back a little so she can lay on you.”
He nods at your words, placing one hand on her back and the other under her bum, he lays back slowly, his lips twitching into a small smile when he sees her already falling asleep. She scrunches up her nose as she nuzzles her face into his chest, making you both laugh when she suddenly throws her hand up, managing to catch onto a strand of his hair.
She wiggles around for a moment, before her eyes start falling shut.
“And she’s out,” Steve whispers, chuckling to himself. “I wish I could fall asleep this fast.”
“Yeah, me too.”
Her cheek is squished against him, she’s breathing softly now, her hand falling from his hair and onto his shoulder, her little headband beginning to slip off.
You reach out to take it off her head slowly, and lean in to place a soft kiss on her forehead, unaware of the fond smile on Steve’s lips, or the feelings that rush through him because of you.
“I’m gonna go make some coffee and breakfast now,” you mumble as you pull away, and get up from the couch, grabbing the bottle and the cloth.
Steve’s eyes follow you as you walk over to the TV stand, and grab the remote, handing it to him, “you can watch something if you want, it won’t disturb her, she’s a heavy sleeper.”
“I’m good, I’ll watch her for now,” he whispers.
“Okay, I’ll be right back,” you say, and give him a smile before you leave the room.
A genuine smile.
You smiled at him before, countless of times actually, but he could never tell what was real and what wasn’t, what was genuine and what was forced or just sarcastic. But this, this was a real smile, and there was no second meaning behind it. You just smiled at him, naturally. It makes him feel… happy, and as he looks down at the little girl that has your features, he realizes something.
The feeling in his chest was never for nothing, it was never false or misleading.
It was just as real as the smile you blessed him with.
Suddenly, everything before him doesn't seem as dull and colorless as it did all these past months and even years, something sparks before his eyes and he can see again, he can feel something besides the never ending gnawing in his chest and the restlessness in his bones, the fears that nestled deep into his soul. He finally sees something other than the darkened clouds and the red lights that keep flashing before his eyes.
A light that keeps peeking through every once in a while is on the verge of breaking through, making the walls around him rattle as the foundation starts to crumble, one brick at a time starts falling into an abyss.
A future lays before his eyes, calling out to him and waiting to be grasped, an echo, a whisper, a glimpse of what could be if things were only different.
For the rest of the day, Steve feels as though he had fallen into a pleasant dream, a world where it’s only you and him, a little girl that made him realize just how badly he wants to have a family of his own – he already knew that he wanted it, but he pictured the wrong person by his side, a person he no longer even wanted.
He was blinded by old feelings, and the wish to have something real again, when it never even was to begin with.
The feelings that are sparking in him now, feel so different from anything that he had ever felt before, and he only opens his eyes to them more and more as the day passes, and he sees a side of you that he had never seen before.
He sees with how much love and gentleness you treat your niece, he sees the way your eyes hold nothing but adoration for the girl that you would do anything for.
He hears how soft your voice can get.
He feels how soft your touch can be when you once again hand her to him.
And his heart beats so strongly, so fastly in his chest when a giggle falls from your lips after Francine pouts when you take her away from him again, only to be forced to place her back into his arms when she almost starts crying.
Steve adores her, and he adores you – a little more as every second of this day passes.
The thing that pushes him nearer towards the finish line of realization, is this very moment in front of him.
Your niece fell asleep on his chest yet again, you are sitting right next to him, with your head on his shoulder and your eyes glued on her, your finger tracing her little features. The urge to pull you closer and hold you feels so strong to the point that his fingers start itching.
“I’m sorry I didn’t cook dinner for you,” he whispers.
You look at him through your lashes, the corner of your lip twitching as your eyes flicker to his lips for a brief moment.
The only light in the room now coming from the TV, the volume set on the lowest. The rain is still falling, even as the night nears.
“It’s okay, Francis didn’t let you,” you giggle softly, not knowing that the sound makes his heart flutter. “Besides, the pizza was really good.”
“Yeah, it was,” he whispers.
He notices how tired you look, how the sleepiness is beginning to set into your features now too.
“Look at her tiny nose,” you whisper as you look back at her, “and those little hands.”
Something in the way you hold her hand and whisper so adoringly about her, makes him long for you even more – but not in a way he had felt before, no, this is different, this is so very serious.
Steve lifts his arm as a blush creeps up to his cheeks, he wraps his arm around you, and pulls you closer, “come here,” he whispers into your hair, “there’s space for two Blondies on my chest.”
He doesn’t know what kind of emotions he can trigger in you, with such simple words.
He doesn’t know that you have been dying to feel this.
You lay your head on his chest, and he can’t help but smile at the sigh that falls from your lips. You put your arm around Francine, and snuggle against him, and you stay like that, for a while at least, until Steve allows his feelings to take the lead.
He adjusts the blanket over Francine before he pulls you even closer, and he buries his fingers in your hair, allowing himself to play with it like he only ever does when you’re fast asleep and unaware of his soft touches or the glances that fall upon your skin.
He would feel joy if he knew about the emotions that linger inside of you.
“You will be an amazing dad to your little nuggets someday, Steve,” you say in a whisper, it’s almost too quiet for him to hear, “and a good husband too.”
The shakiness in your voice and the sadness goes by unnoticed by him, he is too stunned by your words.
If he could see inside your head, he would know how much sadness there is, how the dark clouds always reside, how you don’t see a future for yourself because you know that he won’t be in it, and without him, what will you have? What will you be? A wilting rose, left behind to die. You are barely holding on now, but you are still here, because he is still keeping you alive. Your life is in his hands.
Steve takes a deep breath, he opens his mouth to whisper to you, only to see you fast asleep now too, your cheek squished against his chest just like Francine’s is.
He breathes out, lips curling into a smile as he stops playing with your hair.
“You will be amazing too, Blondie,” he whispers.
A girlfriend. A wife. A mother.
Whatever you choose to be, whoever you will bless with your love, they are going to be so lucky to have you.
And before he can even realize where his thoughts are taking him, a frown nestles into his features. The thought that he will become a memory to you, makes him feel uneasy. The thought that someone will step into your life, and take away what you both have, fills him with gray-ish sadness once again. The image of someone putting a ring on your finger and getting to be the one to lift the veil and kiss you on the altar openly, in front of everybody, and without needing to hide, spreads the darkness in him, yet again.
He looks down at you, at the way you look so comfortable in his embrace, while your soft hand stays on the girl’s back, he admires you, and he feels no shame to do so, not even when he lifts his hand to brush your hair out of your face.
But his time with you is cut short when the front door unlocks and opens, and footsteps echo in the hallway, a moment later.
He turns his face away from you, when your sister steps into the living room, freezing in her steps when she sees him.
Steve swallows the lump in his throat, giving her a tight lipped smile, he raises his hand to wave at her, “hi…”
She furrows her brows as she takes in the sight of you three, her lips pulling into a confused smile. She takes her denim jacket off and walks further into the room, her lips curling into a big smile when she takes a look at her girl.
But then her eyes fall back on him, and suddenly, her lips part in surprise.
“Hi…Oh– you, hang on,” she mumbles, tilting her head before her eyes widen, “Steve Harrington?”
Steve doesn’t know what to think of the look on her face, or the stunned tone in her voice.
He met her before, at the hospital when she came to visit you, but he didn’t talk to her, and her reaction makes him wonder if you have mentioned him before.
“Yeah… that’s uh… that’s me.”
The silence that follows is almost too loud, he can see the way she looks between you both, back and forth, as her brows stay furrowed.
She points a finger between you both, “so uh… you’re her boyfriend?”
Steve hesitates, and he glances down at you, bitterness lays on his tongue when he utters the next words, “uh… no… no, I’m not.” Sadly, he thinks.
And when he registers the words that popped into his head out of nowhere, he suddenly wants nothing more than to escape this situation, fearing his own feelings again.
“I-I should go now.”
“Oh, you’re not staying another night?” She asks, a somewhat smug tone in her voice as she looks at you.
He would love to, but it’s better to go now. It’s not safe to stay, not for his heart.
“No, I have to work tomorrow.”
“Ah,” she nods and walks over to the three of you, “I’ll take her now,” she whispers, and carefully picks her daughter up. The little girl stirs in her sleep, grunting quietly but not opening her eyes just yet.
“She’s a heavy sleeper,” Steve chuckles as he watches the way Francine relaxes into her mother’s arms.
“She really is,” your sister laughs, and walks over to the armchair, taking a seat before she looks back up at Steve, “kind of like Daisy when she’s relaxed,” she nudges her chin towards you.
A smile appears on his face, and he looks down at you, his arm is still wrapped around you, and he already dreads the feeling of having to let you go.
“Yeah,” he whispers, taking a long look at you, before he decides to get up.
A sigh leaves his lips, and he slowly slips away from you, replacing his chest with a pillow for your head, his eyes soften when you scrunch your nose up just the way your niece did earlier. He adjusts the blanket over you, fighting the urge to leave a kiss on your forehead before he steps away.
Your sister eyes him closely, watching how he treats you with so much care.
When Steve steps away, and looks away from you, glancing at your sister, heat rushes to his cheeks when he sees the way she looks between you both, a smug look lingering in her eyes, a small but teasing smile on her face.
He wants to run.
“Okay uh,” he mumbles, scratching the back of his neck before he points his finger at the hallway, “I’m gonna go.”
“Okay,” she nods, “thanks for helping with Francine.”
He waves his hand, a smile now reappearing on his face as he looks at the baby girl, already missing the feeling of holding her.
“No need to thank me, I loved spending time with these two,” he chuckles, pointing between you and your niece. “But uh, I’m gonna head out.”
“Alright,” she smiles at him.
He takes one last look at you before he turns around and makes his way out of the living room, he puts his Nike’s on, and grabs the car keys he threw on the counter, last night.
“Bye, Twinkie.”
“Bye…” She mumbles with furrowed brows, confused at the name he just called her by.
The front door shuts quietly, yet loud enough to wake you up. With a flinch, you open your eyes, and look around the room, feeling a little disoriented. You look to your side, the empty spot beside you, making you frown.
“Your boyfriend left,” your sister's voice sounds through the room.
You turn to her, finding her in the armchair she always loved so much. A smug look is resting on her lips.
“Shut up,” you mumble, glaring at her.
She laughs at you, and leans back, getting comfortable in her seat.
“Spill. Now.”
-
The hot water rolls down Steve’s skin, the smell of shampoo surrounds him as he washes his hair.
His eyes are closed, but a smile rests on his lips, as images of all the things that happened today replay in his mind.
The fluttering in his chest hasn’t stopped at all, everything you did, everything you said, every single touch of yours has seemingly turned him into a hopeless teenager again – only, he isn’t one anymore, and the feelings inside of him, go much deeper than the ones of a seventeen year old boy.
And no matter how much he tries to deny them, he just can’t, because it becomes less and less possible to pretend that they aren’t there.
Today, they shined through so brightly, when he saw how soft and gentle you could be, when he saw the sides of you that you never wanted to show. He saw something he never thought was even there. And it causes awful feelings to rise up in him, when he comes to the realization that all these years, you were only protecting yourself from the hurt in this world, and you did so by putting up a front and giving people the wrong pictures of yourself.
You were mean and rough to those you didn’t trust, and he was one of them, maybe he still is, but he saw you today.
When you greeted him this morning, with your niece in your arms.
When you kissed her little forehead, and held her in your sweet embrace.
When you taught him to bottle feed her.
When you admired her with him, and traced her little features with your finger and a loving smile on your face.
When you told him how great of a husband he would be someday, and an amazing dad to his nuggets.
Wait… you said nuggets, plural. He never told you he wanted kids, so how did you know? How did you even know he would love to call his children that particular word? Was it intuition? Was it a coincidence?
His eyebrows knit together with complete and utter confusion as the water just keeps running over his head, and the realization hits him like a ton of bricks.
The RV. His conversation with Nancy. Him telling Nancy he wants to be someone’s husband and have six nuggets. Him pouring his desires out, thinking that everyone else in the vehicle was sound asleep.
But you weren’t.
Fuck, you weren’t asleep. You heard him. You heard him talking to Nancy, and you– you think that he wants those things with her still. He should clarify it, shouldn’t he? He wants to tell you that it was the dread of the world ending talking for him. He wants to explain himself to you–
Explain himself? Why? You probably wouldn’t care who he has kids with, or who he marries. You would simply give him a thumbs up and a confused look on your face. But– He feels his stomach contracting with nerves, nerves he knows all too well. He doesn’t need to explain anything to you. He doesn’t need to clarify anything.
But, he doesn’t want you to think he wants that family with Nancy Wheeler.
He really doesn’t.
And he is terrified that he doesn’t want you to misunderstand.
Absolutely fucking terrified.
And then, the realization, the surprise and the nerves turn into absolute guilt. He had also said a few things about you. Nancy told him that it’s sad you had to be included this way into the party, into their problems, but that you looked strong and determined after going into the upside down just one time.
And he replied with how much he desired you wouldn’t have gotten involved at all. It sounded harsh, it sounded vile and venomous… And it was intended that way, or at least that’s what he thought.
Now, he realizes that he didn’t want you involved so you wouldn’t go through danger, but you did, you went through so much pain and suffering. Nancy was right, you were strong, and you didn’t second guess your actions when it meant saving someone.
“Shit–” He jumped a bit when he felt the water turn cold, not realizing for how long he had been in his head, thinking, running through his thoughts and memories. He turned the water off and shook his head to get the excess of it out of his hair.
He got out of the shower and grabbed a towel, a white one that had the smudge of a lipstick stain that never got off. Your lipstick.
And just that mere stain made his heart jump and miss one beat, two beats, maybe three. Fuck… Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.
He really wants you to know he doesn’t mean what he said in the RV.
To both of those things.
Especially the one about Nancy.
“Fuck me.”

Birds of a Feather | Joost Klein
Tumblr media
description: gn!reader reflects on all the special moments in your and Joost's relationship following an unexpected proposal.
content: so insanely cheesey! sorry! pure fluff! + lots of crying (mostly happy tears) literally the most tiny smallest sexual reference this fic contains rpf, do not continue if that makes you uncomfortable
word count: 2426 (this was supposed to be under 1k words but i got soooo carried away)
Tumblr media
/I don't know what I'm crying for / I don't think I could love you more/
Shaky fingers fiddle with the cold metal looped around your ring finger. Your hand flexes outward, watching as the light from your window reflects onto the small stone. Something warm rolls down your cheek- a solitary teardrop, caressing the skin of your face. Your hand reaches up to wipe away the tear, but it's too late, you can feel more welling up near your waterline, any sudden movement now would send tears streaming down your face. You look up, your eyelids brink rapidly in an attempt to prevent the inevitable waterworks.
You hadn't seen an engagement coming- in all the years you'd been together, it still seemed like a milestone that had felt so far away. Until Yesterday.
Tumblr media
You and Joost had been nearly inseparable since just about the moment you had met- A nervous 20-year-old studying abroad in the Netherlands for your second to last semester of university. You sat on the stairs outside of the apartment building that stood as your temporary housing for the semester, on the brink of tears, your randomly assigned roommate had been a real piece of work. You were on your third argument that week alone, and, saying you were fed up was an understatement. You contemplated at that moment packing your things and just going back home.
"Gaat het?" (Are you ok?) A voice calls out, a goofy-looking blonde standing at the bottom of the stairs. He looks vaguely familiar, you think you may have seen him in the elevator of your apartment once or twice.
You furrow your eyebrows at him, "Ik spreek niet veel Nederlands," Using one of the few Dutch phrases you knew to tell him you don't speak Dutch. You shake your head, kind of hoping he would get lost, not wanting to be bothered.
"Ah," He nods, "Do you speak English?"
You stare at him for a moment, unsure if you should lie, after all he was a stranger but something is telling you to tell him the truth.
"Yeah," You sniffle, attempting to remove any emotion from your face.
"Are you okay?" He asks again, this time you understand.
"I'm fine," You weren't exactly searching for a deep conversation about your current struggles in someone you didn't know.
"People who are fine don't usually sit outside their apartment building crying."
You bite your lip, contemplating engaging the kind stranger in what was ailing you at the moment. You sigh, having a feeling he would probably keep pestering you if you continued to insist you were feeling in a way you actually weren't.
"It's just my roommate-"
Tumblr media
Two months after your first encounter with the blonde man at the bottom of the stairs, you were standing in front of a mirror, doing a final check of your outfit before going on your first date. You had learned his name was Joost, he was 21, and lived in an apartment two floors above you.
He was unimaginably kind, with a wit unparalleled by anyone you'd ever met before, and truthfully, he was very cute- so when he had initially asked you out, you couldn't get a "yes" out fast enough.
It seemed a little inconvenient, given that you only had one more month left in the Netherlands- but he knew this, and didn't necessarily seem like he had been looking for anything too serious. Besides, it would be nice for you to have a good connection with someone outside of the people you saw in your classes.
There's a knock at the door, and your feet are quick to start shuffling under you, you're practically running to go open it.
You stop for a moment as you get to the door, letting a deep breath fill your lungs to capacity, before letting it out, whipping the door open as you do so.
Joost is standing behind it, a smile plastered on his face, hands behind his back. He's dressed up, now that you thought about it, you never really saw him in anything other than a sweatshirt or t-shirt and some jeans. It was a pleasant change- a white button-up shirt and some dress pants even if both articles of clothing had been obviously wrinkled.
"Hey," He greets, removing his hands from where they rest behind him, revealing a bouquet of flowers in an outstretched arm, "These are for you- I didn't know what kind of flowers you liked so I sort of just guessed." He's unsure of himself, in an entirely endearing way. He was trying.
"For me?" You grin, "Aww, Joost!" You take the flowers from his hands, "Let me go find something to put these in."
Tumblr media
A month later you're sitting on Joost's couch after what you assumed would be your last date together. Your study abroad program was ending in three days, and you'd be returning back home.
There is an air of sadness that surrounds you, one that you hadn't expected to feel- you'd only known the man for three months, yet somehow it felt like you were leaving someone you had known your whole life.
Gentle fingers grab onto your jaw, Joost is turning your head to force you to look at him.
"You know," He starts, "I've really been enjoying our time together."
"Me too," You agree, a small smile peaking onto your face, you try not to give way to the sadness you were feeling.
"And," He says, "Y/n, I really like you, and I think if I don't ask you now, I'm never going to get the chance to ever again."
"What?" You perk up, your heart suddenly beating much faster, your breathing quickens, unsure of what he's going to say next.
"Well- I- what I'm trying to say is, do you want to go out with me? Like- officially- like dating." His voice is trembling, you'd never seen him so anxious before.
"Joost I-" You sigh, the reality of your situation crashing into you harder than it had before, "I'm leaving soon- we'll be hours away, when am I going to see y-"
You're cut off by Joost's lips crashing into yours, your thoughts suddenly disappearing the second your lips connect. You're entirely overwhelmed with emotion, every wire in your brain is fried, this move was an utter surprise, up until this point your relationship had been entirely chaste; the furthest you'd gone was sharing a hug at the end of your dates. Still, you kiss him back, your hand finding its way to his shoulder, tugging at it, begging him to come closer to you.
Tumblr media
It had been seven and a half months since you had last seen Joost, but the two of you had talked at length each and every day during that time. By now, you had finished your degree in University and were ready to really start your life.
You could remember the cheer of excitement on the other end of the phone when you told Joost after a month of job hunting you had secured a job in the Netherlands.
"Does that mean you're coming back here?"
"Yeah, the job starts at the end of next month ."
A month and a half didn't necessarily give you much time to plan things out to the extent you would have liked, but Joost was more than ready and willing to help you out.
He had posited moving into his apartment- but the suggestion while sweet- was quickly thrown out. It wouldn't have been an ideal commute to your new job.
So the two of you got on to looking elsewhere, he had been kind enough to take the time out of his days to go to apartment showings for you near where you'd be taking your job, keeping you on Facetime as he viewed the places.
Eventually, you had found one you absolutely fell in love with, in perfect distance from the job. The problem had been- it was quite a ways out of your budget. You were heartbroken, it had basically been your dream apartment.
Joost, always swift with solving problems, suggested that the two of you move into the apartment together, that way he could cover the rest of the rent that you couldn't afford. And while you were over the moon about his offer- you worried about what living together would do to your relationship, the two of you had known each other for less than a year- would living together be such a great idea?
But as you're standing in the doorway of your bedroom on the first night being in your new apartment, staring up at Joost, who's leaning against the door frame- you just know you made the right decision.
A careful hand glides across your cheek, resting at the back of your neck,
"Thank you for coming back," Joost muses, gently massaging the spot where his hand resides. You lean into his touch,
"There was no other option" There's an undeniable twinkle in your eyes, admiring the man who stood above you, tired and messy from a long day of moving.
"I've been waiting to tell you this in person," His grip on your neck suddenly becomes still, rigid, "And- even if you don't feel the same yet, I just wanted to say that I love you." He's talking fast, simpering after he finishes his short words before resuming the gentle massaging motion of his thumb against your neck.
The breath is almost entirely knocked out of you- he loves you.
The words just about run out of your mouth, "I love you too,"
"You do?" His pupils are blown wide, "You love me too?"
You nod fervently, never having meant a statement so immensely in your life.
Joost is leaning down now, his head tilted so his lips can perfectly interlock with yours. It is possibly the hungriest kiss the two of you had ever shared, with the obvious implication of love now behind it. If Joost hadn't snaked his free arm around your back, you probably would have fallen straight to the ground, your legs tingling with excitement.
He pulls away, looking into your mostly empty bedroom, a smirk appearing on his face,
"What do you say we christen that bed I spent all day putting together?"
Tumblr media
Five years later you're still living in that same apartment, the once-empty space now fully decorated with beautiful memories.
And now, the most crystal-clear memory sparkled in your brain, almost as bright as the ring itself. You'd been crying in intervals since then- since it happened since - You replayed it in your head.
"Do you remember when we first met?" Joost's fingers interlock with yours as the two of you walk down a familiar street- You were unsure of why Joost had insisted on taking you here, to the town where you both had lived when you met.
"How could I ever forget?" You grin, "Feels like just yesterday I was crying to some strange Dutch boy about my roommate issues."
"And how you told me, you never wanted to see the Netherlands again?" His words are slow as he looks deeply into your eyes, glimmers of adoration shining from every feature on his face.
"God, I was so dramatic- wasn't I?" You look away from him, scoffing as you look down at the pavement, thinking about your old self, looking back on it- it was a stupid decision to let one person ruin almost two months of your life, but back then it seemed like the biggest deal in the world. "Funny" You shrug, "The decision I made to talk to you on the day I was most certain I was just going to pack up and leave forever led me to making the Netherlands my home." You shake your head, "I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't met you on that day, but I don't think there's a reality that exists where we aren't together."
"Don't make me cry," He chuckles.
"I mean- I don't mean to be all sappy, but it's true- if soulmates are real, I can guarantee you're mine."
He's grinning now, you'd been so lost in your thoughts you barely noticed where the two of you had ended up, back at your old apartment, right in front of those very steps the two of you had met on.
He's pulling you up the stairs, and needless to say you're confused about this trip down memory lane.
"I think it's only appropriate that I do this here," His voice is low, and he's blinking more rapidly than usual. His hand slips from yours, and falls into his pocket- you watch anxiously for his next move. There's something in his hand now, and he's slowly bending down onto one knee.
The tears start nearly immediately, before he says a single word, you're cupping your mouth with your hand
"Y/n," He looks up at you, through the lenses of his glasses you can see there are tears in his eyes too, "Wil je met me trouwen?" (will you marry me)
"Joost," You choke out a sob- "Yes, Yes!" Your whole body is full of a tingling sensation, and your heart feels like it occupies more space in your chest than it did before, swelling with an overwhelming amount of love.
Joost grabs your trembling hand, caressing it tenderly with his thumb before slipping on the ring. You let him hold your hand for a moment more before you're pulling it away, desperate to see. You outstretch your hand in front of you, looking at the glimmering stone that sits on your finger. A visual confirmation of what had just happened.
He's barely stood all the way up before you're reaching for him, knocking into him with an embrace so energetically that it nearly knocks him over. As he catches his balance he wraps his arms right back around you, pulling you into him.
If you were to have gotten any closer, the atoms that make up each of your bodies may have actually fused together. Though you wish you could, despite how you fully braced Joost's body it doesn't feel like enough you want him closer to you.
Still, you're so warm in his tight embrace, letting out choked tears of joy against his chest.
A gentle kiss falls on the top of your head, followed by your favorite words to hear out of Joost's mouth, "Ik hou van jou." (I love you)
You shut your eyes, basking in the moment, you could absolutely get used to hearing those words every day for the rest of your life.
/I'll love you 'til the day that I die / 'Til the light leaves my eyes/

Botanist!Reader x Naga!Eclipse
Commission Info
This little fic was such a delight to write and I'm so happy @bluemoon1331 commissioned me for some good ol' Blackwater Lure (naga) Eclipse. Toss in a botanist reader to pair with this handsome snake and you have quite the pairing and a little smooching in the jungle!
Content Warning for suggestive themes.
———
You swat a buzzing insect swirling around your ear before huffing. The humidity is thick like rain but not a drop falls from the blue-white sky in the middle of a bright, brilliant day. The green canopy overhead provides mottled shade. Despite this, a thin sheen of sweat glistens on your forehead. Swiping underneath the stiff brim of your boonie hat, you draw in another sweltering lungful before pressing down on the camera button to finish capturing a picture of a brilliant cluster of heliconia flowers. The picture is basic, but you only need one for reference in your study.
Common and brightly colored, the bracts of the flower form a beak-like shape which are often called lobster claws. You prefer the name heliconia. It’s far more fitting for the stunning, tropical blossom.
The deep green stem stands tall and sprouts the flowers high, allowing you to stay standing on your feet as you sweep your camera aside and reach for your notebook. The pages are rimmed with your observations and small, simple sketches of each flora you have studied throughout your stay here in the jungle. Michael and Vanessa seem to appreciate your craft though don’t pursue the same interests. Their place here on the fridges of the wild, feral jungle is a fleeing mystery, but you hope they’re enjoying the beautiful, lush ecosystem as much as you are.
You lift your head at the sound of a steady hum whizzing through the air. A tiny creature floats, its wings blurring with the speed of its flight, and dips low to sip at the nectar of the heliconia. A smile spreads softly over your lips.
Hummingbirds are drawn to the sweet taste of this flowering plant. The small fowl’s feathers shine with an iridescent blue and green. Another flit by. This one pauses just long enough for you to spy its ruby throat. You lower your book for just a moment. Sometimes you get lost in your botany—unable to see the flowers for the petals—but now and then a creature who loves the plants as you do gives a gentle reminder to admire the brilliant red and deep green colors for a moment.
Another hummingbird with a wonderfully rare purple sheen and gray body buzzes over to a nest. You jot down a gentle note of what the flower attracts as well as its pollinators. The ink needs a moment to try and stick to the thick paper. Your book is about to overflow, with a few pages left spared but not for too long. There are still giant lily pads you wish to observe upon the water and passion flowers high up in the canopy that you must find a way to climb up to.
You lower your notebook and pause for a moment. It’s strange. You’ve been here for the better half of the morning and haven’t had any interruptions. This is the most research you’ve done in a good while.
Taking the blessing for what it is, you bow your head and scribble more, noting the bright color and how it thrives upon the jungle soil. There is nothing richer on earth but this Amazonian floor. The most abundant resources of natural, green goods are right before you and you get to observe each flora up close.
You lift your head again. The heliconia is abundant and red, a few tipped in yellow and a rare, stray stem has a tinge of blue to their edges. Beautiful. You step closer, wondering what genetics carried this special trait into this patch of bright reds. Was it cross-pollinated or did a seed get laid here from another stretch of open, flowering land?
The silence settles over you after a moment. Sweeping over the heliconia, you realize the hummingbirds scattered, silent, and swift, leaving you in a heavy quiet. Even distant birds calling and chirping have calmed. The unnatural hush of an otherwise thriving jungle touches you with a warning.
Your heart stops in your chest.
Your poor notebook drops from your hands, pages, and pen falling. Pointing your feet away from the patch of heliconia, you fail to take a single step before a soft hiss cuts through the air. You cry out as a strike of a lithe, long arms seizes you from behind and a powerful tail sweeps around your legs. A sharp gasp rips from your throat. In a moment of your world spinning, you’re pulled forcibly into a constricting embrace.
It takes mere seconds. A tail of green scales, dotted with black, quickly twists you into its coils before a soft hum echoes. You fight the urge to squirm as the thick, corded muscle climbs up your legs, locking them together before winding around your waist. Orange-yellow striping on either side of his long, serpentine form cages you within his grasp. Your arms are, unfortunately, caught in the naga’s constriction. You tug on them experimentally but only receive an answering squeeze in return, your ribs tested for a mere moment. A breath slips away from you.
“Happy day, petal.”
You lift your eyes from your trapped body to face the one enforcing your precarious position. Eclipse. The naga hovers over you, balancing on his tail while keeping you in place. The length of his body is utterly incredible. Ropes of thick, powerful muscle spread across the jungle floor and neatly spiral around you, all while leaving enough to support his humanoid torso.
You try to shift, to find a little more breathing room, but the naga decides to recline you back instead, setting you into an unsettling position where he can creep up his coils to admire you up close. His fangs flash in a ravenous grin. His venom glistens on the razor-sharp tips before he swipes them away with his dark, slender tongue.
“H-hi, Eclipse,” you answer in a rattle. Yet, a smile manages to work its way onto your lips. “Did you have to startle me?”
“I thought you would know it’s me saying hello. Who else would catch you like this?” he rumbles low and deep and the sound vibrates through your own body. You clench your teeth just to keep them from chattering.
He tilts his head as if he finds you adorable—or appetizing. The frills decorating him are as bright as any jungle flower, orange-yellow, and almost hypnotic in the gradient hues. Slitted pupils observe you in the way you might have just been studying the heliconia, interest keen and desirous.
A nervous sound leaves you, somewhere between amusement and fear. “You can say hello without catching me next time,” you offer. “It would be less… frightening.”
His coils shift around you slowly as if tempted by the thought of squeezing until your lungs can’t expand anymore. You glance briefly down to see what his tail may do next.
“Are you frightened right now, petal?” A clawed hand hooks your chin. Eclipse lifts your face to hold your gaze. You swallow back a few mouthfuls of apprehension. A pulse in your arm presses back against the thick serpentine body. You hope he can’t feel it.
You know he does.
“No,” you answer, then truthfully, “not anymore.”
He hums thoughtfully. The sound echoes with a hissing undertone and gradually softens. His eyes survey you with slitted pupils, one a midnight blue, the other deep emerald, even darker than his scales.
“I agree. I’ve held many prey in my coils but you don’t struggle like them. They bite and claw and cry out,” he answers, drawing it out with a slithering sound that spills heat into your core. “But you; you resist little. You’re as soft as fruit in my palms. You’re deliciously small.”
He lifts out his other hand and slowly tilts your hat up and up until it falls away, stumbling down his coils to lie flat by your notebook and pen. The very breath within you catches as he turns his hand and runs the back of his crooked finger down your cheek, admiring you closely. You lean away on instinct but the snare of his scales gives you little room to escape. Softly, he reaches up and strokes your head. His claws comb down your hair. His tongue flicks out so close to your nose, you wonder if he intends to lick you.
“Although there is one aspect you carry with the rest of my prey,” he simpers. He leans close enough that his fangs glisten in the mottled sunlight. “You look good enough to eat.”
The tempo of your heart rate becomes a beating drum within you.
“What do you eat?” you ask breathlessly, as if you could stall his hunger.
“Oh, whatever trots my way,” he slips a claw over the shell of your ear, causing you to shiver, much to his delight. His coils cinch around you tighter in what you suspect is a desire to feel every shuddering muscle within you. Your cheeks burn.
“Like?” you prod, trying to regain control of your racing pulse but failing miserably.
He flashes a sinister smile and a drop of venom slips into his saliva before he licks it away.
“Monkeys are fine for a meal. Jaguars are a delicacy that I’ll indulge in when I have the chance. If I’m in the mood to work up my appetite, I’ll hunt black caiman. Otherwise, I’ll dine on a giant otter.” He watches you closer as you comprehend the strength of his ability to target other predators. Truly, nothing can stop him if he so desires.
You’ve learned much about Eclipse in the short time you’ve encountered him—or rather, he’s stalked and caught you. He is the apex predator of this ecosystem. He glides between the trees and turns into mottled shadows under the dense canopy and possesses a head as brilliant as any blossom. You do not know the animal kingdom as well as your flora, but you know he is the king within this jungle.
And he favors you, somehow. Though he has played with you like a cat with a mouse, he has never delivered a venomous bite with his wicked fangs or squeezed you until you couldn’t breathe anymore. You don’t know what to name this obsession he holds for you but it’s enough to spare your life. It’s enough to convince you that he cares for you.
A nice theory you’ve come to consider is that you are in the safest place in the jungle right now, protected by the apex predator’s serpentine body. It’s enough to make your heart soften whenever he wraps you tight in his tail. After the initial shock has worn away, of course.
“I imagine they, ahem, taste fine,” you say, though your tongue is a bit dry.
“Such meals hold a very excellent taste, but I prefer a new flavor as of late,” a low rumble moves through him.
You swallow roughly. His eyes catch the motion, dropping down to your throat where it bobs before his grin seems to sharpen. His fangs lie on full display.
He tilts your head back slightly, allowing sunlight to brighten your face. “Now I want to know more about what you’ve been up to, petal. What are you studying today?”
“Heliconia,” you answer. He captures you in his intense gaze. You nearly wish you could look away just to concentrate on forming words on your tongue. “The, ah, scientific name is heliconia latispatha, but it’s sometimes called lobsterclaw.”
“Say that again,” he commands.
You almost spit out ‘lobsterclaw’ but catch your mistake before you can simmer in embarrassment. In a steady voice, you repeat, “Heliconia latispatha.”
His eyes close briefly, sealing away the jewel-dark colors of his gaze. For a moment, you study him, fascinated by how he tilts his head as if turning an ear towards you.
“Beautiful,” he hisses softly. His eyes open, slitted pupils thinning in the brightness of the day before he nods. “Tell me more.”
You sputter once before continuing into details about their relationship with hummingbirds. Eclipse lets you spill into a monologue. His attention never lapses as you so often find in those who ask about your botany studies only to realize you are giving them an accurate answer, not a simple and inadequate one-note description. You can almost forget that you can’t move your limbs while falling into a ramble of your studies.
While you speak, his coils keep you cool. His smooth, sleek scales effortlessly ease your sweating while slowly shifting around you, occasionally squeezing as if grasping your hand to remind you that he is here, listening. His tongue flickers out once while he traces your jawline and even your lips when you tell of hoping to locate giant lily pads.
“I will take you to see them,” he says after you pause. Your eyes widen. He grins as his claws slip along your temple, trailing your hairline.
“Really?” you breathe. You’ve been searching for them for so long—even Michael and Vanessa reported that they have stumbled upon many yet in their travels around the jungle.
“Of course.” Eclipse’s simper deepens while he lets his hand fall to cup your cheek. “Anything is yours. You must only say the word, my favorite flower.”
Your lips part but no sound falls out of your mouth. Eclipse’s eyes drink you in as you wriggle in the slightest, unable to contain your eagerness despite how tightly you are held. His tail moves in answer. Scales shift you towards him as Eclipse leans over you, closing the distance.
“Eclipse.” Your mouth finally moves. His name fills it. He stirs, his thin eyelids fluttering briefly as ripples of muscle fall down his tail.
“Say that again,” he commands.
Your throat bobs before you shift your shoulders. His hands fall to the neckline of your shirt, tugging on it slightly to expose your collarbone.
“Eclipse.” Your cheeks heat with a red as bright as the heliconia.
“Petal,” he hisses gently, “You’re so sweet and precious. Like nectar. I want to taste you.”
Oh.
You want to say something, that you are not nectar but a very simple, boring human, but you aren’t sure if that’s the right thing to say in the face of a predator who lies inches away from your mouth. He draws his hand under your shirt and palms your shoulder, covering your shoulder blade. He tilts your head up. A soft gasp escapes you when he squeezes you softly, and then as if stealing your air, he captures your mouth. He pushes gently, tasting your lips and grazing them with his slick fangs. Quiet sounds escape you, your hands clenching and your knees rubbing together, unable to take his face in your hands and hold him in return. It’s almost maddening. Almost.
A low hiss breaks the kiss as he draws back. His gaze, despite his serpentine aspects, is soft and glowy. You spin slowly after the contact like you were on your feet one moment and lifted off them the next.
“Perhaps we might find a lily as pink as your cheeks,” he murmurs, much to your embarrassment. His smile is devilish but his tongue slowly traces your cheekbone, and you close your eyes.
You hope so, silently, for such a flower.

The Eagle and the Hummingbird

Img: Silver mechanical bird with blue crystals By Coolarts223
Summary: Kid likes you. And he's been wanting to give you a gift for a while now. The problem is, for all his mechanical know-how, he's got zero emotional intelligence. Word count: 1000
“Really? They can fly backwards?” Heat propped his elbows on the dining table, hanging on your every word.
“Yes, they’re the only ones who can,” there was a note of pride in your voice as you shared your knowledge with your crewmates. “When they’re done feeding, they fly backwards to get their long beak out of the flower.”
“Pff, a dumb thing that sucks on flowers,” Kid’s voice came with a scoff from his spot, arms crossed as he leaned against the doorframe.
“Yeah... it’s not a dumb thing, Kid. It’s a bird.”
You locked eyes with your captain for a moment, your frown lingering as you tried to suppress a smile. It was impossible for you to stay mad at him for long, especially when he crinkled his nose like that, giving him a look you’d describe as a disgruntled eagle.
“And that’s your favorite animal?” Killer was holding his glass with both hands, peering at you through the small holes in his mask.
“Yes! They’re amazing, only 5 cm long and they flap their wings between 50 and 80 times a second—”
“I wish I could move my hands that fast,” Heat said, lost in thought.
"So you could flap your 5 cm little bird?" Wire chimed in as he strolled into the mess hall.
There was a moment of silence before the men erupted into explosive, raucous roar.
Wire cracked up, nearly doubling over at his own joke; Kid slammed his hand on the doorframe, laughing so hard he almost fell over, and Killer wiped tears from his mask as he raised his beer to toast with Heat, who was trying to keep up with the chaotic cheer.
“You guys are hopeless,” you let out a frustrated sigh, and gave Wire a playful nudge on the forearm. “I’m off to bed.”
As you made your way through the door, you had to maneuver around Kid, who stayed put, watching you leave with a peculiar glint in his eye.
“Good night, Cap’.”
******
The next morning, you had barely stepped into the galley for breakfast when the captain welcomed you by angrily tossing a small metal object in your direction.
"Take it," he snapped, his face twisted in a sulky pout.
“Wha–”, the object landed on your chest, and you quickly brought your hands up to catch it before it fell. As you looked at it, your eyes widened in surprise at the sight of one of the most finely crafted and beautiful mechanical pieces you’d ever seen.
It was a tiny hummingbird made from pieces of iron and steel, with some parts joined by tiny screws and others carefully melted and welded together. It was incredibly light, standing on its own in the palm of your hand on two exquisitely thin legs with detailed toes and claws. The beak was perfectly polished, and a tail made of fine metal sheets, shaped like feathers, served to balance the weight backward.
Totally awestruck by the extraordinary craftsmanship, you glanced at Kid, who was intently watching your reaction from across the room with a scowl under his protective goggles.
“Kid… this—”
“It’s just some fucking crap I found the other day while cleaning up the workshop,” he cut you off bluntly, turning his back to you to pour himself a black coffee. “Ain’t got room to keep shit like that.”
You observed the beautiful mechanical bird, and run your thumb over the delicate engravings on its metal surface.
“Whoa! No way!” Heat’s voice rang out as he walked into the room. He rushed over to see what you were holding, and with a look that silently asked for permission took the object from your hands and lifted it to eye level to scrutinize it. “Is this... a hummingbird?!”
You nodded, unable to take your eyes off the small metal figure, and how Heat turned it around to get a better look.
“Does it flap its wings?”
“Of course it flaps its wings,” Kid snapped, immediately crossing the distance between you in just three strides. He snatched the hummingbird from Heat's hand and with an unexpected gentleness, carefully placed it back in the palm of your hand. After he pressed a few tiny buttons, you heard the soft click of gears syncing perfectly as the little bird gracefully unfurled its wings. Slowly, it began to flap, its speed increasing until the metal feathers blurred before your eyes.
"It beats its wings exactly 75 times per second," his painted lips stretched into a wide grin of pride when he heard you gasp in awe.
"Can you make it fly?"
The bird gracefully lifted off from the palm of your hand, hovering effortlessly in the air above before moving a short distance forward. After a few seconds, its tiny wings rotated symmetrically to adjust to the perfect angle, catching the air from front to back, and the bird flew backward.
"I can make anything out of metal fly," he chuckled at you, full of himself.
“Kid…” you said, your voice barely above a whisper as you shifted your gaze from the hummingbird to the captain’s honey-colored eyes, “it’s perfect.”
“Yeah... whatever.” His heart swelled with an unexpected warmth as he watched your face light up with that adorable smile, but unsure of what to do with the feeling, his expression settled back into a sour pout.
“A-anyway," he scratched his neck awkwardly, "I ain’t got time for this shit. It was just taking up space in the workshop, so I was gonna toss it. Keep it if you want... or throw it away, I don’t fucking care.”
At that moment Killer walked in, his inscrutable gaze sweeping over the scene before landing on the extremely strong coffee the captain had poured for himself.
“Kid, how many hours of sleep did you get? It was 5 AM, and the workshop lights were still on.”
Kid shot him a murderous glance, his cheeks radiating warmth as they flushed a light pink.
“Huh? No, they weren’t–”
“Yes, they were. And I was starting to get worried with all those curses and banging and—”
“KIL," Kid gritted his teeth in warning, "shut th—” .
“—hammering at that hour.”
Heat and you exchanged glances before turning your attention to the captain, who was now burning as red as his tousled hair.
“Fuck, Kil!” he barked, trying not to meet your gaze. “WILL YOU JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP?!”

You always believed in fairy tales. Every night, you'd curl up under your blankets, eagerly turning the pages of your favorite stories, letting the words transport you to distant lands where anything was possible. But as much as you loved reading about those grand adventures, a quiet longing had taken root in your heart—a yearning to experience the magic firsthand. To leave behind the ordinary world and step into a place where dreams became reality and happiness was more than just a fleeting moment.
One night, after finishing another tale of Neverland, you couldn't ignore the pull any longer. The idea had been growing in your mind for days, and now, it was impossible to resist. You hurried to your desk, your heart racing with the kind of excitement you only felt when you were on the brink of something extraordinary. Grabbing a piece of paper, you scrawled a note in your neatest handwriting:
Dear Peter Pan,
I've left my window open.
Please come rescue me.
You stuck the note to your window, the cool night air drifting in through the gap you'd left. With a final glance at the stars outside, you crawled back into bed, pulling the duvet up to your chin. As you lay there, the house quiet around you, you could feel your pulse quicken with anticipation. Every creak of the floorboards, every rustle of the leaves outside had you holding your breath, hoping that this time, it wasn’t just the wind. Would he really come? Could he be real, like the stories said?
You squeezed your eyes shut, not wanting to miss even the faintest sound that might signal his arrival. And as the night stretched on, you waited—(im)patiently, your heart filled with a mixture of hope and a whisper of doubt. Somewhere deep inside, you knew that if anyone could take you away to where dreams were born, it was him—your favorite hero from all the stories you loved.
Tumblr media
Peter Pan!Anakin who actually made your dream come true;
Anakin, dressed in his usual green tunic with a mischievous smirk playing on his lips, slipped through the open window with the grace of someone who had done it a hundred times before. His eyes adjusted to the dimly lit room, and he took in the surroundings—a cozy space filled with books, twinkling fairy lights, and little trinkets that spoke of a dreamer. A map of Neverland was tacked to the wall, and in the corner sat a small chest overflowing with the kinds of treasures a girl might hoard: seashells, old coins, and feathers.
But then, his gaze landed on you, curled up in bed, your face peaceful in sleep. For a moment, he simply stood there, captivated. You looked like a storybook character yourself, with the moonlight casting a soft glow on your features. He couldn’t help but wonder what kind of adventures you dreamed about, or what made you leave that note for him.
Before he could get lost in his thoughts, a sharp tug on his tunic yanked him back to reality. Tinker Bell, her tiny face twisted in annoyance, was buzzing around him like a bright, golden light.
“Hey!” she whispered harshly, her little hands pulling at his shirt. “We’re here for your shadow, remember? Not some girl.”
“Come on, Tink. Look at her. Isn’t she just… enchanting?” He took a step closer to your bed, but Tinker Bell darted in front of him, her tiny arms crossed over her chest.
“She’s nothing special,” Tink huffed, her wings fluttering rapidly. “Let’s just get what we came for and leave.”
Anakin rolled his eyes but couldn’t help the small smile tugging at his lips. “You’re just saying that because you’re jealous.”
Tinker Bell’s cheeks flushed an even brighter shade of pink. “I am not!”
Their bickering grew a little louder, and in the midst of it, you stirred. The soft murmur of voices slowly pulled you from sleep, your eyes fluttering open. At first, you thought you were still dreaming—because what you saw couldn’t possibly be real.
A boy, no older than you, stood near your bed, dressed in strange clothes, with tousled hair that looked like it had been styled by the wind itself. Floating beside him was a tiny, glowing figure, radiating light like a star. It took you a moment to realize what you were seeing, and when you did, your heart skipped a beat.
“Peter Pan?” you whispered, your voice tinged with awe and disbelief.
Anakin turned his attention to you, slowly taking in your beautiful eyes. For a moment he just stood there, not saying anything but taking in everything there was about you. He felt this weird feeling of butterflies in his stomach before he composed himself and a charming grin spreading across his face. “The one and only. And you must be the one who left that note.”
You sat up slowly, still trying to wrap your head around the fact that Peter Pan was standing in your room, looking even more handsome than you had imagined. “I… I didn’t think you’d actually come.”
He stepped closer, all traces of the earlier argument with Tinker Bell gone from his face. His blue eyes sparkled with mischief as he said, “Well, you called..and how could I resist an invitation like that?”
Tinker Bell, still hovering nearby, let out an exaggerated sigh but didn’t interrupt again. She could see the way you and Anakin were looking at each other, and she hated it
Peter Pan!Anakin who took you to Neverland and soon later introduced you to all the boys. Although you couldn't shake the tinkler bell's displeasure with your presence. Once you talked about this with anakin, he promised to do something (yet she hadn't really accepted you)
Peter Pan!Anakin who made sure any boy did not flirt with you. Especially Rufio
Peter Pan!Anakin who loves to show off his flying skills;
"But—what if I fall?" Your voice trembled slightly as you looked down at the glistening, see-through blue water below. The height sent a shiver down your spine, and you couldn't help but gulp nervously.
Anakin chuckled softly, his eyes dancing with excitement. Hovering effortlessly in the air above the shimmering water, he looked down at you with a cheeky, reassuring grin.
"Oh, darling," he said with a teasing lilt, extending his hand towards you. "But what if you fly?"
"I—" You hesitated, your gaze flickering once more to the soft waves crashing against the cliff. The fear of falling tugged at your heart, making your pulse quicken.
Anakin sensed your hesitation, the flicker of worry in your eyes. His grin softened, turning into a look of pure encouragement. He continued to float with ease, his hand still reaching out to you, his confidence unwavering.
"Come on, love," he coaxed gently, his voice brimming with warmth and certainty. "Take my hand. I won’t let you fall, I promise. Just think of something that makes you happy."
"Happy thought?" You echoed, your voice small, but curious.
"Right, a happy thought." He paused, his gaze deepening as he searched your face. "Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and imagine something that fills your heart with joy. It could be the warmth of the sun, the sound of laughter, or a memory that makes you smile. Hold onto that feeling... and trust me."
You closed your eyes, letting his words wash over you. Slowly, you reached out and placed your hand in his. The warmth of his touch sent a spark of reassurance through you, and you felt yourself being gently lifted from the ground.
As your feet left the soft grass, you felt a moment of panic, but it quickly subsided as Anakin's grip remained firm yet tender. He guided you into the air, and before you knew it, you were floating beside him, the shimmering water below now seeming more like a distant dream than a threat. The cool breeze kissed your skin, and you marveled at the sensation of weightlessness.
"Open your eyes," he whispered, his voice soft and filled with wonder.
You obeyed, your eyes fluttering open to take in the breathtaking view. The height was dizzying, and for a moment, your heart skipped a beat.
"Oh my—" You gasped, your body instinctively tensing as you realized just how high you were.
Anakin chuckled again, this time more softly, as he wrapped his arm around your waist, anchoring you to him. His presence was grounding, a steadying force in the midst of this surreal experience.
"It’s alright," he soothed, his voice a comforting murmur in your ear. "I’ve got you. Just hold onto that happy thought, yeah?"
You nodded, your lips forming a thin line as you forced yourself to focus on the happiness that had brought you here, rather than the fear. When you looked up at him, his handsome face was glowing with pride and affection.
Anakin smiled at your nod, understanding the depth of trust you had placed in him. He moved closer, his body brushing lightly against yours, a silent reassurance that you were safe with him. The breeze played with your hair as the two of you floated together, suspended in a moment that felt like pure magic.
"See, love?" he murmured, his gaze never wavering from yours. "You’re flying. Just like I promised."
Peter Pan!Anakin who quickly developed feelings towards you
Peter Pan!Anakin who, despite his playful nature, is fiercely protective of you. He won’t hesitate to confront any danger in the forest, whether it’s a mischievous pixie or a dark force threatening your safety.
Peter Pan!Anakin who you made nervous (which was uncommon for someone like him)
Peter Pan!Anakin who you quickly started to call by small nicknames that he loved (always manage to make his cheeks flush)
Peter Pan!Anakin who gave you a bouquet of glowing flowers;
As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in rich shades of pink and orange, Anakin found himself deep in thought. Over the past few days, his mind had been occupied with one thing—you. His feelings for you had grown stronger, more intense, and it was getting harder to keep them hidden.
In the quiet of the evening, Anakin busied himself gathering a bouquet of glowing flowers. Their luminescent petals bathed his surroundings in a soft, ethereal light, casting shadows that danced around him as he worked. He wanted to create something beautiful, something that might convey the emotions he couldn’t quite put into words.
"Ani? What are you doing?" Your voice, sweet and soft, broke through his reverie.
Startled, Anakin jumped slightly. He had been so engrossed in his task that he hadn’t even noticed you approaching. His heart raced, a mix of surprise and embarrassment flooding through him. Instinctively, he tried to hide the bouquet behind his back, though it was already too late.
"Nothing! I’m just… uhm…" He stammered, fumbling for words as a faint blush crept across his cheeks. Realizing that he couldn’t hide the flowers or his intentions any longer, he sighed softly and brought the bouquet forward, revealing it with a sheepish smile.
"I… I made these for you…" His voice was tinged with nervousness, his gaze flickering between the bouquet and your eyes.
"For me?" You asked, a mix of surprise and warmth in your voice.
Anakin’s blush deepened, and he nodded, his usual confidence faltering as he anxiously awaited your reaction.
"Yeah, for you. I remembered how much you liked the glowing flowers on our last walk… so I thought I’d gather some for you. I wanted to… brighten your night."
"I--well--thank you," you replied, a genuine smile spreading across your face.
Relief washed over Anakin at your response, and he couldn’t help but return your smile. He shuffled slightly, rubbing the back of his neck—a habit of his when he felt nervous or unsure.
"I’m glad you like them. I tried to pick the prettiest ones I could find."
Your smile widened as you stepped closer and you decided to do something new, something you've dreamed about doing for a long time. Standing on your toes, you pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek
"They're perfect" you whispered, your voice filled with sincerity.
Anakin’s heart swelled at your words, his smile growing as he held the bouquet out to you, the glowing flowers reflecting in his eyes.
"I’m glad you think so. I wanted to do something special for you… because you’re special to me."
His words were soft, almost shy, as he took a step closer. The glow from the flowers illuminated his face, highlighting the earnest expression in his eyes. The world around you seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of you standing in the gentle light of the flowers.
Anakin’s heart pounded in his chest as he leaned in, closing the distance between you. The soft light cast by the flowers created a halo around you both, making the moment feel even more magical. As his lips met yours, the world fell silent. The only thing that mattered was the tender connection you shared, the warmth of his embrace, and the gentle rhythm of your heartbeats, perfectly in sync.
Lost in the kiss, Anakin felt a sense of completeness he had never known before. He didn’t notice Tinker Bell’s jealous stomping in the distance, too absorbed in the feel of your lips, the softness of your skin, and the way you fit perfectly in his arms. He pulled you closer, deepening the kiss, wanting to savor every second of this precious moment.
Peterpan!Anakin who often sang soft lullabies to you when you’re falling asleep, his voice soothing and full of love. And he always promised that he’ll always be there to protect you, no matter what.
Peter Pan!Anakin who, despite the thrill of adventure, has his tender moments. He loves to cuddle with you in a cozy treehouse, wrapped up in a blanket while he whispers stories of his past and dreams of the future.
Peter Pan!Anakin who is a dreamer, constantly imagining new adventures, and he's always trying to impress you with his latest idea. Whether it's finding a new hideout, building something impressive, or planning a daring raid on the pirates, he loves when you join him in these endeavors. Your support means everything to him, and he often seeks your approval without even realizing it.
Peter Pan!Anakin who makes sure to keep you safe from the mermaids, or the treacherous jungles. He'd probably do anything to ensure you're happy and safe, even if it means putting himself in harm's way.
Peter Pan!Anakin who has a special place in Neverland that he never showed anyone else until he met you. It's a secluded spot, perhaps a hidden waterfall or a secret treehouse, where he goes to think and be alone. When he finally takes you there, it's a significant moment, symbolizing how much you mean to him and how much he trusts you.
Peter Pan!Anakin who loves using the magic of Neverland to play tricks and have fun. He might use fairy dust to create harmless pranks, like making your hair float or turning your shadow into a playful doppelgänger
Peter Pan!Anakin who uses you as a comforting presence when he doubts himself.
Peter Pan!Anakin who makes a promise to you, something sacred in the context of Neverland. It could be a vow to always find his way back to you, no matter where you are, or to show you a new star every night.
Peter Pan!Anakin who was first to snuggle up to you when the time came for you to tell a goodnight story to the lost boys
Peter Pan!Anakin who had to save you from captain hook
Peter Pan!Anakin who took you to different places to spend more time with you;
Hand in hand, Anakin gently guided you through the lush, enchanting greenery of Neverland until you reached a serene spot that overlooked a breathtaking view of the setting sun. The sky was a canvas of warm hues—orange, pink, and gold—casting a soft glow over the landscape. A cool breeze brushed against your skin as you stood together, taking in the beauty around you.
He led you to a large, flat rock, the perfect place to sit and watch the world slow down. You both settled down side by side, the sun sinking ever so slowly toward the horizon.
"Now you're just neglecting the Lost Boys,"* you teased, a playful giggle escaping your lips.
Anakin chuckled in response, the sound warm and familiar. A smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he glanced at you, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
"Ah, but they’re used to it," he quipped, turning his gaze back to the vibrant sunset, the colors reflecting in his eyes. "They’re resourceful boys; they’ll manage just fine."
"Besides," he continued with a grin "I’m indulging in my favorite princess right now. The Lost Boys can wait their turn."
As Anakin admired the sunset, lost in the moment, you found yourself unable to take your eyes off him. His strong profile was softened by the fading light, and something about this moment made you want to express what was on your mind.
"You're different from how books describe you..." you mused softly, a small smile tugging at your lips, even though you knew the concept of books was foreign to him.
Anakin chuckled again, the sound low and rich as he continued to gaze at the setting sun. He could feel your eyes on him, and there was a curious edge to his voice when he finally responded.
Turning to meet your gaze, he arched an eyebrow in a blend of playfulness and curiosity "What’s...book?"
You shook your head, a slight smile still on your lips. "Nothing. Don’t mind it," you replied, brushing off the question, knowing it would lead to more complexities than you were ready to explain.
Anakin studied you for a moment, sensing that there was more behind your words. But instead of pushing further, he turned his attention back to the sunset. A brief silence hung between you, filled only by the rustling of leaves and the distant calls of Neverland’s creatures. Then, with a playful smirk, he turned back to you.
"You’re quite the mystery, you know that?" his voice carrying a hint of admiration mixed with a teasing edge, his eyes still reflecting the vibrant colors of the sunset.
Peter Pan!Anakin who's mood each time fell whenever you mentioned going back to your world
Peter Pan!Anakin who deeply conflicted about the idea of growing up, especially when it comes to your relationship. He fears that you’ll eventually want to leave and grow old, while he stays the same
Peter Pan!Anakin who eventually had to accept your decision;
Anakin listened intently as you spoke, his expression growing somber. He knew this conversation was inevitable, but he had been dreading it, avoiding the harsh reality of losing you.
"I know...I know." His voice was thick with emotion, and he paused, swallowing hard against the lump in his throat "But what about Neverland? What about... us?"
When you suggested he come with you, a flicker of hope and doubt crossed his eyes. Yet, the idea of leaving Neverland, the only place he had ever called home, was almost unthinkable.
"You know I can't. This is my home. Neverland is all I know," he murmured, the corners of his mouth turning downward as he grappled with the decision before him.
You stepped closer, your eyes filled with a mixture of desperation and love.
"Please, Ani. I want you with me. I don’t want to leave you behind."
He sighed, his heart caught in a tug-of-war between his love for you and his love for Neverland. The weight of the decision bore down on him, and he couldn’t shake the feeling of being trapped between two worlds.
But then, his eyes darkened, his expression growing more serious
"And grow up? Turn into an adult? Live a mundane life with mundane jobs and worries?" He shook his head, a bitter laugh escaping his lips. The thought of abandoning the magic and freedom of Neverland for a life of routines and responsibilities made his stomach churn.
"It’s going to be okay...it’s not so bad—" You tried to reassure him, but your voice wavered, betraying your uncertainty. However you started to feel the watery liquid raise in your eyes but you managed to blink them off before they could escape their place
Anakin raised an eyebrow, skepticism etched across his face.
"Not so bad? It’s going to be a life of routine and expectations. We’ll be losing all of this—the magic, the adventures, the freedom…" His voice softened, laden with the weight of what he was about to say. "I don’t want to lose you either, but I don’t know if it’s worth the cost."
"What? I—anakin—" Tears welled up in your eyes as you struggled to make him understand. "I can’t just leave my family like that..."
"And I can’t just leave Neverland. Everything I’ve ever known, everything I’ve ever loved...this is my home." His voice wavered as his own eyes began to mist over. "I...I don’t want to lose you, but I can’t uproot everything I know to follow you."
A heavy silence hung between you, the weight of the situation pressing down on both of you.
"So...this is how it ends?" You whispered softly, your voice trembling with emotion. You could fight, make him understand that being an adult isn't so bad like he thinks it is. Yes, there are responsibilities but still, it's not so bad. Yet, you found yourself submitting to his decision, to his slight stubbornness. And in that moment, you started to let go.
Anakin's heart felt like it was being torn in two. The pain in your voice mirrored the pain in his own heart.
"I guess so...I suppose this is where we say goodbye." He tried to keep his voice steady, but the sadness seeped through, making his words sound hollow. He stared at you, memorizing every detail of your face, knowing this might be the last time he’d see you.
With a deep breath, he leaned in, his lips meeting yours in a kiss filled with sadness and longing. The knowledge that this might be the last time they would ever kiss made him cling to the moment, trying to make it last just a little longer. When the kiss finally ended, he took a shaky breath, his voice barely a whisper.
"But goodbyes aren’t forever, you know? We’ll meet again...someday, lost girl"
A small, pained smile tugged at the corners of his lips as you let out a dry chuckle, your attempt to mask the pain. He reached out, gently tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear, his fingers lingering on your skin for a moment longer than necessary.
"You take care of yourself out there, okay?" His voice was tender, laced with a love that couldn’t be easily expressed in words.
You nodded, tears brimming in your eyes, and leaned in to press a small kiss to his swollen lips, sealing your bittersweet goodbye.

You should be in your universe.
Fighting a criminal, or even pulling a kitten out of a tree. — Or also, tidy up your mediocre apartment that was in the purest mess along with some of Gwen's things, since she had spent the night there.
And you wondered, and prayed, if she had locked the door and closed all the windows. — God, you hope she hasn't left everything out in the open.
You knew, like no one else, that you needed to assume one of your greatest responsibilities and not be distracted by anything from another universe or another canon line. — Your New York needed you; they needed Spider Woman.
At any moment, minute or even second, some villain or a piece from another universe could appear in your city. — Well, it's not hard to admit that you were used to it.
Your duty, loyalty and dignity to protect all citizens of your city was at stake. — But, you could at least take a few hours off, right?
But in such a selfishly cheeky way, there was one person in particular who needed you more than anything; this may sound dramatic or even exaggerated but it didn't matter to you. — This is way out of your worry zone.
"¿Qué está pensando mi princesa, eh?" — Your vague and irrelevant thoughts disappeared in a matter of seconds, like a tiny, soft feather in the winds; that voice so deep, tense and a little breathless landed in your ears, perfectly.
That voice that made your body tremble, and made your mind so clouded and out of control, even you didn't know what to do at certain times. — It seemed that voice had some kind of magic, or even a poison that you loved to mortally quench; a poison you were addicted to.
Opening your eyes, you slowly come back to your reality; the only one that mattered to you. — Your heavy eyes, with the vision a little blurred but clear enough to admire the presence that was in front of you, or rather, below you.
The image of Miguel, devoting all his attention and concentration to you, while you were straddling him. — His big, strong, fearsome body next to the purest white silk pillows, along with the small scratches caused by your fingernails and weak bites scattered across the exposed regions; a sight you could kneel at so blessed it was.
His hair, totally messy and unruly, made his presence even more magnificent; not to mention his red face, not because of some embarrassment or anything like that, but because of the intense pleasure he was feeling for you. — Miguel could feel the burning sensation in his chest.
But, nothing could compare or explain the feeling of your pussy squeezing his dick; Miguel felt, in fact, disoriented and lost when he felt and admired your little pussy swallowing his big fat cock; not to mention the bulge that had grown in your belly, it wasn't all that visible, but Miguel watched with desire, temptation and pride.
O'Hara knew perfectly well that your sweet, hot, wet pussy was made for him. — And if he could spend all that time buried in your pussy without thinking about spider society, the multiverse or his responsibilities as spider man, he would.
Waiting for your answer, or anything to come out of your mouth, one of Miguel's large, rough hands ran up your bare thigh; a long, strong squeeze was directed at the region. — In a matter of seconds, his finger prints would be there.
A simple finger print was nothing compared to all the bite marks and hickeys the dreaded man had left on every possible region of your body. — You bit your lip, not so radically or brutally, and proceeded to direct your hand over Miguel's hand; the size comparison was captivating.
"I was thinking of you." — Your confession came out as a near-whisper, as if it were a secret. — No matter what was going on in your city or the multiverse, you needed Miguel, just like he needed you.
A triumphant, satisfied smile formed on Miguel's desirable lips, and let his fangs stand out, at least a little. — Fangs that have already passed through your entire body, without leaving even a part out; but this is far from being a complaint.
Miguel's reddish eyes, which mesmerized and held you, roamed over your body without haste or impatience. — As much as O'Hara was an extremely impatient man. — He couldn't help but be proud of the marks he'd left on your body, signaling that you belonged to him and only him.
He admires your boobs, which moved slowly according to your movements in his lap, and how your nipples were red from grabbing and sucking them so much. — And he knew how sensitive they were; and Miguel made a point of directing his other hand on one of your sensitive nipples and squeezing it.
"Miguel." — You whimpered, closing your eyes to the painful yet pleasurable touch. — The feel of Miguel's cock pulsing inside you, slaking your desire and the teasing, torturous touch he was getting on your nipple was freaking your head out.
"Te ves tan hermosa así, mami." — The comforting words uttered in his deep tone made you squeeze him tighter, Miguel closed his eyes, quickly, as he felt the tight, delicious sensation. — "Riding me like this."
Removing his hand from your nipple, ending the teasing, torturous action, Miguel places it on your hip; a gentle caress was left on the region, then he signaled and encouraged you to increase the luscious and pleasurable movements in his lap. — In a matter of seconds, you understood and fulfilled your man's request.
The drastic and quick movement of your hips against Miguel's brought moans and grunts from both of your mouths; your thin, needy, melancholy moans against Miguel's deep, rough moans was the enchanted combination.
O'Hara refused to close his hungry red eyes and miss any miserable second of the scene before him; no matter how good he felt or how hard your pussy was squeezing his cock, he wanted to witness everything. — He wanted to see his good girl riding him.
"Mi Dios del cielo." — He moaned, louder this time, and biting his lips deeply, making his own fangs ravage him. — "Vas a ser mi jodida muerte, bebé."
You mutter something incoherent, incomprehensible, but it was probably some word of agreement directly to Miguel. — Not even he tried to decipher what you had actually said. — But, the noise of wet skin hitting and your needy and excited moans ran through the man's head.
"Miggy..." — It was pathetic how Miguel watched his nickname come out of your mouth in such a delightful and whiny way; you decided to place your hands under Miguel's muscular chest, gently running your fingernails over the area.
"¿Qué pasa, mi princesita?" — Miguel knew you wouldn't be able to answer him properly, but he didn't miss another opportunity to tease you. — He looked at your mouth, and mentally repudiated you for hurting your beautiful lips with your teeth. — "Ven aquí, mi corazón, por favor."
His needy words didn't go unnoticed by you, even though you weren't aware of much at that moment, and of course, you didn't fail to fulfill another request from Miguel. — Then, bending down a little more, slowing down the movements, your breasts press against Miguel's and you feel a shiver run through your body at the contact; your hands come up a notch, landing on o'Hara's neck.
Your face was only an inch away from Miguel's, and you could feel his sharp, deep breathing against yours. — Your lips almost struggled against his, and your eyes managed to admire his sharp fangs.
O'Hara felt your eyes fixed on his fangs, admiring and gazing, he knew you were obsessed with them and that turned him on even more. — The fact and the way he was so desperate, so needy for your lips melted every last neuron you had.
"Bésame, mi reina." — Miguel whispered against your lips, tickling you; he didn't even have to say twice for you to heed his warm attention.
In a quick moment, like the blink of an eye, you joined your lips with Miguel's; an action you were desperate to commit. Your soft lips, so soft and silky against Miguel's silky, rough but so desirable lips brought you comfort, in addition to excitement. — You molded yourselves, became one, fully fitted into each other.
Miguel's rough tongue explored your mouth, it seemed like it was the first time the man had kissed you. Your tongue lashed, intensely, against O'Hara's; it looked like they were dancing, fighting for space. — Not to mention the obscene and wet sounds that were running through the dimly lit room.
Sometimes, your tongue touched Miguel's sharp fangs, and it's possible to tell that you did it on purpose and he knew it.
Suddenly, Miguel's hand that was on your hip, helping you move, along with the other, were directed to your thighs; grabbing them tightly, and taking control of the movements. — An unexpected action and surprising you.
A surprised moan came out of your mouth during the kiss, and you even pulled your lips away from Miguel's; but he made a point of biting your lips at the very moment you decided to do so. — The sharp feel of his fangs on your lips caused you to shiver again.
Not distracted, but keeping his attention on you, Miguel gripped your thighs tightly and forced your hips against his, making a real impact on you; from that moment on, Miguel was in control of the movements and in you. — You were completely filled by Miguel's cock, and you could actually feel his heavy balls bumping against you.
O'Hara moved your hips down and up with ease, and modesty, reminding you of the rhythm you were practicing before; but, it was for a little while. — Feeling a pressure, a weight on the bed, which was in a mess, you couldn't see Miguel lifting his legs a little, then bending them; you tried to look back but were stopped.
"No, no, ojos en mí, cariño." — He ordered precisely, and you didn't dare disobey him.
O'Hara couldn't contain the impatience, which in this man was stronger than he was, and he moved your hips harder, with more fervor; he recognized how needy he was for you, and how desperate to fill your luscious pussy with his seed. — You whimpered loud and clear in his ears, which glorified the noises that came out of your mouth.
In the dark room, with both clothes scattered on the floor, the noise of skins clashing, your loud and so excited moans and certain grunts of Miguel controlling the environment. — And your and Miguel's scent mingled with the strong, intense scent of sex.
Miguel felt a thin and a little burning stitch on his neck, he had the notion that it was your nails scratching him again and he had the perspective that you were close to your orgasm; besides your moans started to get louder and your pussy was squeezing him even more. — You didn't have to warn him that you were close to your climax, Miguel recognized it even in your smell; that man knew your body better than you.
"I got you, my love." — He grumbles, and making a little effort, to leave small, wet kisses in the region of your neck. Miguel's lips moved up to your chin, then rested on your lips, leaving a long, promiscuous kiss. — "I got you, my pretty little girl."
As Miguel accelerated the pace of his thrusts, frantically, the noise of the bed moving, thrashing against the wall began to travel through the room and into your ears.
With his big, strong arms, Miguel hugs your waist; and besides feeling the pleasure completely dominating your body, you felt safe and comfortable with him. — It wasn't just the pleasure that was there, of course, the passion, protection and security you felt for each other.
A grunt, easily seen as a groan, brusque and deep but so liberating, exclaimed from Miguel's lips; At the same time, he dug his fangs into his lips and bit down hard, and he could already taste the bitter, metallic taste. — He had reached his peak.
Miguel had filled you in; the warm, sticky, delicious feel of his release against your walls was a blessed thing. — A majestic thing, and one that held O'Hara's mind. — He didn't want to get out of you, and he really didn't. — But, O'Hara didn't stop moving his hips, he wanted you to take every last drop of his cum.
With your face pressed against Miguel's neck, he could feel your labored breathing and low moans along with whimpers. — It tickled the older man's sensitive area and brought a triumphant smile to his lips.
"You did good, Mami." — Miguel moved his head so that his lips were brushing against your ear. — "And mi dios..." — He drew in a long breath, then a hearty but deep-pitched laugh exclaimed in your ears. — "Tu serás mi muerte."

Yeah, this was a bad idea.
But whenever your fingers laced through Hitoshi’s after you hastily shoved some money through a tiny slit underneath a frosty window without even a word of thanks to the employee behind it, you couldn’t help but feel the licks of excitement bubble and tickle underneath your throat. Something about the naughtiness and taboo of it all was starting to set in, shivering against the pads of his fingers before shuddering up to your pinched shoulders. A brief glance at Hitoshi has you wondering if he feels the same—those piercing lilac eyes, the lone stars of white in his pupils watching you carefully, lidded, and swirling with emotions unknown. You feel like it’s hard to read him, but the edge of one eyebrow twitches down and his jaw tightens whenever you lock eyes and step into an elevator together. Something wolfish crosses your lips.
“I’m sooo glad you decided to skip your patrol for me. You really know how to make someone feel special.”
The words are sugary flowing out of your mouth, but you know exactly what they do to Hitoshi. He shifts a little, sliding the soles of his boots against the floor and sinking down an inch or two. His stare doesn’t leave yours, but you can see his eyes squinch a little more. And underneath the fluorescent beams of the elevator, you swear that something rose flushes across the bridge of his nose.
“Tch. We can’t take long. I shouldn’t even be here anyway.”
Elusive and dismissive, but you know that he doesn’t actually feel that way. He could have said no, could have glowered at you, could have simply turned and stalked away—but, buuuut he tagged along with hands in his pockets and not a single word. So now he’s here, hands crossed with yours, and you offer a saucy smile before you tug a little and draw him in. Your fingers are over his neck within an instant, one’s already lost in the meadow of his hair and the other loosely traces the bottom of his jawline. The elevator dings, and your grip on Hitoshi tightens before you begin swaying out.
“It’ll be fun, promise. No one will even know we’re here, darling boy!”
Hitoshi cocks an eyebrow, but he lets you rock him gently, a hand on your hip and the other bracing the small of your back.
“Except for that old couple who stared in horror as we walked in here.”
You blink with wide eyes, but you quickly flutter them away and instead grin mischievously.
“That look was only because it was the spiciest thing they’ve seen in a while. I mean, come on, do you think they get freaky still?”
Hitoshi dips his head a little lower, and cool air fans across your face whenever he breathes out slowly through his nostrils.
“I don’t want to think about them getting freaky. I’d promptly have to leave, then.”
The fingers in Hitoshi’s hair tighten a little, like claws flexing and hooking into flesh, and the grin that stretches across your face grinds the back of your teeth.
“You know I wouldn’t let you do that. My clutches are too powerful—so sensual, so overwhelming, so—”
“So noisy?”
Hitoshi cuts you off. The look that slaps across your face is sheer astonishment, but Hitoshi just offers this strange smile before he leans down far enough to steal a chaste kiss from you. Crackles of static and crashing tides spray across the valleys of your lips before it feathers into your face, warmth and heat, and it starts to pool down throughout the rest of you. Whenever Hitoshi draws back a little, there’s something soft etched in his features but it’s so discreet that you almost miss it. A soft chuckle tickles your ears, and the sound makes your face relax before you scoff and shake your head.
“Noisy? I call it consuming.”
The hall shrinks away while the both of you dance this awkward ebb and curve, and the number of your room seems to glow whenever you find it. One corner of Hitoshi’s mouth quirks up.
“What a great descriptor. Deafening is better.”
You laugh a little louder than you intended to, but it proves Hitoshi’s point so you blow a tiny raspberry at him and part far enough away from him to unlock the door. It all fades by so fast, but it doesn’t help that Hitoshi eyes you like something he’s never seen before with that mysterious and distant aura. Those lone stars vibrate slightly, or maybe it’s a trick of the light, but you just smile sweetly and gesture for him to follow you inside.
“Something something, it just means I’m the music to your soul~”
The door closes with a click behind you. You’re positive Hitoshi wants to roll his eyes, but he refrains and instead fixes you with a serious look that makes you a little weak in the knees. With its lack of windows, under the dim light of this room born from a single orange light bulb strung up from the ceiling, Hitoshi seems to glow. He’s so bright and demanding, and you wonder how he ever blends into the crowd, underground and undercover always and forever. Your hands move on their own, wrapping themselves around whatever they can find and drawing him closer to you. A voice barely a whisper hisses from your lips.
“‘Sides, Im only being so bothersome because I almost couldn’t control myself whenever I saw you save that kid earlier. Do you know just how much I admire you?”
Hitoshi’s breath is shaky whenever it leaves him, his hands carefully finding homes on your body while you bring him in further. The heat that starts to flood forth makes you so so dizzy, round and round, and you can feel the cavern underneath your belly start to tighten and ache. Hitoshi falls so easily against you, and he’s just so absolutely beautiful, and you want to lock him in place and kiss him until eternity ends. So you do, your hands shift until you cup his face before you trace both of your thumbs over his bottom lip. They part so easily, and that stoicism begins to melt more and more until he’s nothing but soft snow. Your lips find his, and you start to very gently chew and tug, rolling your jaw in small circles against them. He moans, and it’s not really that quiet, and you feel a spark of insanity that makes you smile happily into the kiss and start dancing him backwards into the room.
The bed hits the back of your knees, but Hitoshi doesn’t let you escape him as you slowly crumple down onto it. His kisses are still so awkward, so gentle, so unsure, and you always have to lead him. He lets you, and you guide him closer, push him faster, and the sounds of your lips smacking are so loud but they’re so intoxicating. Hitoshi’s hands get a little bolder, though, and he lets one fall down until it traverses your thigh. It pauses down the middle, squeezes, and then lets his pinky trace half nothings. The other rolls around until it’s against your side then your stomach before it pauses, fingers splayed and crooked up. It’s like it knows where it wants to go, but doesn’t go any further—just there, poised, shaking like rippling water.
Hitoshi’s head tilts further into yours, pushing you back a little, and he murmurs pianissimo notes.
“I… don’t think you realize, either, how you make me… what I feel when…”
His words get lost in another passionate swallow of your lips, but you hum and let your hands start to slide down his shoulders before they trace the curves and journey the slope of his chest. The bed sinks down further whenever Hitoshi starts moving a little eagerly than he normally would, and it makes your eyes roll back into your head. He’s so cute, he’s so sweet, and you want to just press his back down against the bed and show him what exactly he does to you. Hitoshi’s hands really are trembling, on the verge of tears, so you remove your hands from his chest and let them curtain his wrists. He blinks, lips nothing more than slits, and leans his head back far enough to look into both of your eyes. You chuckle gently before you offer a teasing smirk.
“It’s okay, really, you can touch me however you want whenever you want.”
Hitoshi’s face lightens but his expression doesn’t change. His eyebrows furrow and his eyes squint like he wants to cry, but he just breathes out silver and starts to move, but—
“Because I know my clutches are irresistible.”
A dumb grin plastered across your teeth whenever Hitoshi pauses, but his head falls far enough away so that he can hover before you, so close to you, and you can feel the heat emanating from his breath, his face, his lips, his teeth, his flesh. Whatever nervous and needy look had been there seconds ago flourishes an edge of amusement before he shakes his head loosely and cocks an eyebrow.
“Yeah, I know. That’s why I’m in love with you, isn’t it?”
A honk of a laugh breeds in the back of your throat before you start to giggle and move forward again to capture his lips back between yours.
“I don’t know about that. How about you keep kissing me and I’ll see why.”
Hitoshi’s eyes are like hummingbirds, and that amusement decorating the edges of his expression is washed away by desire and nerves whenever your mouths brush. The words that leave him are final.
“Yes. Yeah, whatever you wish.”
And then he’s yours.

Linktober days 21/22: SPIRIT/FAVORITE CHARACTER
rated T for potentially disturbing imagery / totk backstory headcanon / 527 words
A/N: a real inspiration for the Zonai extinction backstory comes from some lore and art of @/proxycrit's Familiar Familiar AU, specifically THIS entry containing a flashback to Rauru and Mineru as children/the last of their kind. This is a different story but I took some aesthetic and emotional inspiration. I also want to recommend the AU in general because it's wonderful and has been a light to my life.
Mineru had always known that she would be the shadow of the two of them. It started, really, when all the others died. She had heard soft footsteps behind the stone walls. It was the early hours of the morning and tiny feathers of light were beginning to dab through the window carvings, and the open door to the right, which he was approaching.
read below the cut
Mineru had always known that she would be the shadow of the two of them. It started, really, when all the others died. She had heard soft footsteps behind the stone walls. It was the early hours of the morning and tiny feathers of light were beginning to dab through the window carvings, and the open door to the right, which he was approaching.
This was one of many quarantine rooms and the last one where any ill Zonai would haul in, grating, the barest inch of breath. Their name was Esaku. She had dragged their spirit out of the ruined confines of their body, and they had looked at her like she was the dead one. Bewildered, released of a body they no longer knew how to recognize, their spirit fragmented, dissolved in tiny slivers of tealish light — down through the stone floor, down and down and down on its long journey to the shadowed underside of the world.
She had been huddled on the floor amid the stone tables, upon which were laid the corpses. They were miasma-ridden, leeching an ugly red like their arteries had been twisted out from under their skin and strewn across their bones, and their blood had been turned to tar. Her blood was leaden in her veins. She had not gone all this time tending at first to the ill, then to the twisted souls of the dying, without its claws poring too into her skin. But she was alive and the eldest of all who were left — only two. And her brother was tiptoeing down the hall, wondering at the silence and the earliness of the morning, stifling his nose with one hand against the stench and miasma that hung in the air.
Mineru had risen and drawn gray sheets over the dead, her hands quivering, her body not yet entirely hers again. She remembers clearly that Rauru peeked his head into the room before she could fully cover one of the bodies, and he might have seen a tangle of warped limbs or the wide-open third eye, its rim gnawed upon and a once-golden iris cracked dry. But over the sheet went. She had stood uncertainly and looked at him. He had met her eyes, the light behind him tracing his outline and casting a long shadow ahead that almost could touch her feet. That had been one terrifying moment when she thought he might have realized, truly, as much as she did, how much they had lost. She imagined him exploding like a dying star and the entire island, the entire world, their books and their magic and their dead being swallowed into a blazing brilliance of white. But then water had welled up in his eyes and he had whimpered, “Mimi, please come to the surface with me. I told the construct to wait for us.”
Who could she have been to say no? Certainly not his sister. She followed behind him out into the light and left their dead behind. But a part of them came with her, stuck onto the wear and tear of her spirit, and she was the only one of them to look back.

Its time for you to force the reason out of him.
Warning: Sexual themes but no smut (NSFW) stuff, bad language, Violence, Death, Drinking, seduction, description of girls and Making out.
Reader is Female (sorry), Kid X Killer X Reader, poly relationship, established relationship.
P1 - P2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sun's starting to set and most of the crew are drunk or passed out on sofa's around the Brothel but the place was unwilling to kick any of them out since their bringing in lots of money, those who are asleep have a buddy with them at all times since you out right told everyone you won't be holding their hand anymore and if they get in trouble then tough shit. It worked out well though, you can finally relax and have some fun with your two friends and get drunk until Kid and Killer show up. Wire's the most sober out of the three of you but he's still a little tipsy laughing at you and Heat playfully argue over something stupid. At this point you've forgotten what you were arguing about but the two of you were already locked in a pushing battle, sitting on your knees facing each, the two of you have locked hand trying to push each other over while growling and laughing at each other. Heat lifts his arms up pulling your hands with him almost making you fall forward almost hitting the sofa cushion but you manage to steady yourself and push yourself to be up right again. "What's wrong Tiny? Need a step ladder to take me on?" Heat laughs only to almost fall forward himself when you force his hands back down to shoulder level while leaning forwards a bit but despite being slightly drunk the stitched man manages to regain his balance and pushing back against you. "Sorry but you'll need a brain to win this match scarecrow" You tease getting him let out a chuckle, the two of you continue to bicker while trying to push the other over as Wire some times laughs at the comments you two make until the doors open and two sets of heavy feet steps walk over.
The three of you look over to see Kid and Killer walking over to your small group both wearing different clothes than this morning, since Heat is distracted you easily push him back earning a slight yelp from the scarred man before jumping off the sofa and running over to the two. Kid lets out a chuckle opening his coat letting you crash into the two of them where your hands wrap around their waist. The smell of their Cologne's fills your nose making you hum in delight, you can tell their both wearing the ones you got them, Kids being Cherry Punk and Killers being Amoris Punk, the two smells working perfectly together but you do notice a hint of iron there too. It's not unusual for Kid to smell of iron but it is for Killer which means they've differently spilled blood, it must be why they've changed clothes. You push thoses thoughts aside though looking up at the two of them with a pout a little mad that it took them to long to get here. "You took your sweet ass time" You comment with a huff as Killer wraps an arm around your waist and Kid pulls some of his red feather coat around you. "Sorry, we... lost track of time" Killer's shoulders shake as he tries to contain his laughter seeing your pouting face, the two know your drunk at this point since it's the only time you pout while your mad, but they won't complain since it's nice to see you relax. "I'll get you guys some drinks, Heat come help" Wire stands placing his empty mug down and grabbing Heats shirt pulling his friend up from the sofa and over to the bar giving the three you a wink on the way.
Killer gives him a nod in thanks before pulling away from the two of you and holding out a jacket for you, raising an eyebrow you take it but keep your eyes on the masked man trying to hold your pout. "Hopefully this will make up for us being late and keep the drunk ass holes away from you" The masked man runs his hand from your waist to your back before nodding to the jacket in your hands, looking over the jacket you notice the back has two big patches stitched onto it, the top one is the Kid pirates skull and cross bones while the bottom one is Killers symbol. Your eyes light up as a smile forms on your face looking over the hand made patches "This is so cool, thank you" You smile up the two while putting the jacket on, Killer's neck goes a little red as Kid laughs patting his back, the captain goes to say something only for you to jump up at the two and wrap your arms around their necks. The two quickly catch you and hold you up by your waist stopping you from pulling them down or having to strain your legs as you barely stand on your tip toes to hug them "Thank you so much, i love it. You two are the best" Kissing their shoulders and necks you keep the two close even though Killer is starting to heat up like a furnace under your praises. "See I told you she'd like it, You were worried about nothing" Kid grins over to Killer who shoves his mask covered face into your neck as if the mask isn't already covering his blushing cheeks, pulling away from the two they let you back on your feet where you place a hand on Killers mask where his cheek would be making him look at you "You made this? For me?" Your heart fills with warmth, its normal for Kid to make things for the two of you but Killer shows his love in other ways.
He's more of an act of service kind of man but you couldn't be happier, you've never had a hand made gift off Killer before so just like the stuff Kid gives you, you'll cherish it for life or wear it until its warn out beyond repair. Rubbing the back of his head the masked man turns his head away from you and nods, shying away from you but you bring him back to you by stepping closer letting your chest press-up against his as your hand guides his face back to you. Lean up you place your hand on his chest before placing your lips on his mask where his lips would be, his hand goes around your waist again as you linger a little before pulling away slightly to see though the holes and into his blue eyes. "Thank you, Kill, i love it" You smile seeing his neck go even redder but his eyes soften, Kid pats the masked man on the back before putting an arm around his shoulder with a laugh "Don't get all flustered now" He teases leaning into Killer's neck and placing a firm kiss earning a growl off the masked man who grips the captain's coat secretly pulling him closer instead of pushing him away. "And thanks for this, it's been working like a charm" You giggle running your fingers over the hickey on your neck earning a big grin from Kid who pulls your hand away from your neck to look it over "Good, i guess i don't have to worry anymore" He whispers mainly to himself but it makes you soften your eyes while bring you hand off Killers chest to place it on his cheek.
Kid grabs your waist pulling you over and into his chest before crashing his lips onto yours causing you to let out a small squeak at his sudden action. Killer lets out a huff of a laugh while shaking his head, but he's glad Kid is now relaxed enough to be in a place like this again. Leaning into the kiss you wrap an arm around his neck while the other runs over his chest, lightly digging your nails into his skin earning a gruff hum of satisfaction. Kid shoves his tongue into your mouth as his grip tightens on you earning a slight moan from you as you gladly let him do what he wants until he pulls away for air. "Maybe i should leave another just in case" The captain smirks down at you but Killer pats his back before taking his arm "Come on, lets sit, i need a drink" The masked man shakes his head at the two of you while dragging you both to the sofa. Flopping down onto the sofa Kid patting the space next to him while pulling you onto his lap letting you lean your back against his metal arm as Killer sits down next to his captain adjusting his long hair as to not sit on it the wrong way. Kid put his arm around the masked mans shoulders pulling him in closer to nip at his neck, your glad he's no longer stressed about coming here but you do wonder what happened back on the ship to make him act this way. He's normally like this behind closed doors but out in public it takes him either a few drinks or a really good battle to get him this affectionate, you won't complain or bring it up though since your enjoying it way too much.
With a relaxed sigh you lay your head on Kids shoulder as Killer grabs your legs and pulls them onto his lap letting his hand run up and down them some times grabbing your thigh or calf when Kid finds the right spot to nip at. The captain only stops when Heat and Wire come back with several mugs handing them out to the three of you, your surprised that even drunk Heat managed to remember the straw for Killer's drink. "Any trouble while we were gone?" Kid asks as he removes his arm from around the masked man to grab his beer mug and take a big swing, Heat and Wire both shake their heads as the two sit back down on the other sofa "Not really, We all made it quite clear that if they get into trouble its on them. Or as Y/n put it, Don't come crying to mama" Wire states with a chuckle, shaking your head you lean against Kid's chest keeping the beer mug on your lap for now "I didn't think they'd take me seriously but it seems they have" You state still surprised no one has started a fight yet, Killer squeezes your leg giving you a small nod glad that you've been able to relax and that the crew respect you well enough to listen. "So urm.... Do i dare ask what shape the Victoria's in?" Heat asks sinking into the sofa hoping it will swallow him hole but Kid lets out a chuckle and shakes his head "The ships fine, in fact i think it looks brand new" You raise an eyebrow at this while turning to look Kid over, his smirk is more sinister than normal, Killer sighs and lightly elbows the captain in the side before turning to you "What did you tell them?" You should have knows he would figure out quickly that you spilled the beans but at least he wasn't mad, just a little frustrated, Kid on the other hand tensed up a bit while his metal arm squeezed your side.
With a smile you pat Kid's chest to reassure him, you know he's worried you would have told Wire and Heat about what he said but you know better and you wouldn't do that to him. "I told them what the crew have seen saying and doing, thats all" The two relax at your words and Kid releases your waist a little before moving his face into you neck giving it a kiss, Heat groans kicking his feet up and placing them on the table while Wire grips his mug tighter "Those assholes" The two say in unison taking a swing of their beer "How many crew member's have we lost?" Wire asks with a small smirk as Kid pulls his head out from your neck to let out a laugh, his friends know him to well but surprisingly he didn't kill all of them "Only a few that refused to apologist and.... Kept saying stuff" The captain seemed happy at first but then his smile dropped thinking about how some of the new members of the crew thought it was ok to still call you names and accuse their captain of being soft. Killer puts his arm around Kid squeezing his shoulder a little "The newbies are gone but the others will be staying, although they'll be on clean up duties for a while, thats all we'll say about this" The masked man is clam like always but the three of you know that he's still a little angry by his tense shoulders and the way his hand is stiffly grabbing your knee, Heat lets out a laugh breaking the tension "That's perfect, I won't have to do the drains tomorrow" The stitched man smiles making light of the situation as Wire chuckles and nod in agreement.
Laying your head on Kids shoulder the group relaxes and talks about anything and everything while drinking and having a laugh, none of the working girls interrupted the group or tried to flit with Kid which made the captain very happy as he holds you on his lap some times attacking your neck with kisses or bite making you laugh and try to push him away. "Hay sorry to interrupt but i kinda need your opinion on something, N/N." Hip's voice makes you jump slightly and place a hand on your chest before turning around to look at the blonde girl leaning on the arm of the sofa behind you but her eyes are fixed on the surrounding room. Kid lets out a chuckle prompting Killer to jab his side with his elbow knowing what the blonde girls need your help with, Everyone on the crew knows that if they can't decide on something then they should come to you especially in a place like this. "The black haired girl or the pixie cut girl?" Hip whispers pointing the two out while slightly hiding behind you so they won't see, the groups head's turn to look over at the two working girls. The black hired girl has a few tattoos and a tight black dress showing off her figure along with flat black shoes, her hair's straight and quite shiny, the light bounces off it perfectly as she walks over to a table and places down some beer mugs. The Pixie cut girl has glitter shorts that show off the bottom of her bum cheeks and a tight crop top that really shows off her chest along with a gold necklace that hangs down and under the shirt, her high heals make her long legs look even longer as she leans against the bar talking to a drunk man.
Wire whistles while looking the two over making Kid lean his head back in laughter "Hard chose, you know how to pick em" The captain slaps Hip on the back making her almost fall into you but she manages to catch herself and rub her now sore back "Thanks captain?" She tilts her head to the side not sure if she should be thanking him for that. Killer sighs looking away from the two girls while placing a hand on your leg seeing your eyes scan and analyze the two. "Giving or receiving?" you suddenly ask not taking your eyes off the two girls until Heat speaks up with a laugh "Does that really matter?" The stitched man asks as Hip ponders for a moment, looking over at Heat you simply nod already knowing who's best for what. "Urm... Both" Hip finally answers looking over at the two working girls, with a smile you tilt your head back to look at Hip whose cheeks are slightly pink as she waits for your answer. "Black hair" You state making the blonde girl smile and wrap her arms around your neck giving you a hug "Thanks Y/n your the best" She happily says before pushing off you and running off to talk to the black haired girl, Kid lets out another laugh before bending his head down to your neck humming into it, his hand on your waist going tighter. "I don't normally question your judgment on this but are you sure? The Pixie cut girl seems way more relaxed around the girls so doesn't that mean she's more experienced with them?" Heat asks leaning on the arm of the sofa to get closer to you not wanting anyone outside of the group to hear, letting out a laugh you grab Kid's shirt keeping him close to you as he starts to kiss your neck.
Turning to Heat you try your best to explain your thought posses hoping it won't be too complicated or his drunk mind. "Yes i'm sure, Pixie cut is new, she hasn't found her style yet, and she's over confident to make up for her lack of experience, She's nervous around the men , yes but only sticks her chest out around them, as for the girls she's friendly not flirty which means she see's the girls more of observers than money in her pocket" You explain while enjoying Kids smirk against your neck and Killers hand running up and down your leg some times squeezing your thigh. Heat raises a brow before looking over at both girls again only to find the black haired girl and Hip were now gone, The Pixie cut girl however was with another group of men sitting on one of their laps with a sweet smile, despite her giggling he did notice slight tension in her shoulders and legs. "As for the black haired girl, she takes very good care of herself, clean tattoo's, silky hair, she's modest but some of her tattoos indicate she is or was a rebel. There's a small lump where her belly button is indicating she has a piercing there but her ears aren't pierced which means she likes to keep some things a surprise, so she most likely has a tongue Piercing or... other piercings" You state with a wink on your last bit giving him an idea of what you mean, his eyes widen at your analysis making you laugh and lean into Kid as he bites the hickey he left this morning trying to push him off you "Such a smart ass" Kid chuckles into your neck gripping onto you tight so you won't get away.
The others go back to talking as you smack Kid's chest getting him to pull away from your neck, you go to make comment but his lips connect with yours as his tongue pushes into your mouth. You let out a hum while moving your tongue with his but decide to act up a bit since he stopped you from talking, removing your tongue from his mouth you lightly bite his causing his to growl into you, opening your eyes they meet with his slightly pisses off ones glaring back at you. With a small laugh you let go of his tongue before moving over to his ear "What's wrong? Cat got you tongue" you whisper as his metal hand grips your waist as his other one slides up to your neck taking a hold of it "Behave" He orders bringing you back to face him, so he can shove his lips back onto yours, it's a much more forceful kiss but you can't complain, after a few heavy kisses he pulls away to glare at you again only for you to run your hand up his arm and over his hand thats still on your neck. "Yes captain" You whisper causing Kid to smirk while letting out a gruff hum while releasing your neck "Get me a drink" He orders liking the power he holds over you, leaning into his ear you place a kiss just under it "Yes captain" You whisper once again earning that same gruff hum as you stand up and head over to the bar ordering the next round of drinks, You only order for Kid, Killer and Heat since You and Wire don't want a massive hangover tomorrow morning.
Kid keeps an eye on you as you wait at the bar for the drink but is happy to see the drunks leave you alone as soon as they see the patches on your jacket, Killer puts an arm around Kid trying to bring his attention back to the group instead of worrying about you. Its seems to work since Wire gets the captain hooked into a conversation as you come back the with drinks handing them out to the others. Before you can sit down Killer pats his lap then holding his hand out to you wanting your attention for a bit which your more than happy to provide, taking his hand the masked man pulls you onto his lap as Kid pulls your legs onto his lap using them to lean on as he continues his conversation with the other two. "Hay baby" Killer whispers as his arm wraps around your waist keeping you pressed up against his chest, "Hay hun" You whisper back while wrapping your arm around his neck to lightly comb though his long blonde hair with your fingers, laying your head on his shoulder you relax into the man. "Thanks again for the jacket, i love it" You whisper after a short silence, his grip on you tightens bringing you even closer if thats even possible but it doesn't hurt, in fact it feels great to have him hold you so tight "I was working on it for a while, was gonna give it to you on your birthday but-" Killer stops talking instead letting out a soft sigh of content as you start to place kisses on his neck along with lite bites "No need to explain. Your too good to me, Kill, I love you" You whisper into his neck as the masked man leans into you wanting more of your affection "I love you to baby" He whispers back while squeezing your side, telling you not to stop the love your giving him.

Headcanon that someone asks Alastor for his body count and this confused man replies with some insane number because he thinks they're talking *literal bodies* and doesn't know why everyone is so shocked
“Three.”
“Three?” Angel Dust gaped, looking like he might pass out and die for the second time from sheer shock. Charlie buried her face in her hands, but she couldn’t hide the blush that spread to the very tips of her ears. Vaggie rubbed her back.
“It’s not that bad,” she soothed.
“Speak for yourself, Feathers,” Angel Dust spluttered. “Haven’t you been alive, like, hundreds of years? What the hell have you been doing with your life?”
“Helping people, obviously,” Vaggie snapped. “Maybe you should try it sometime.”
“Hey!” So fast almost no one caught it, he cast a nervous glance at Husk. “If you’re so much better than us mere mortals, why don’t you share your body count with the class?”
Vaggie raised her chin, her eyes flashing. “Two.”
Angel Dust choked, wobbled, and flopped dramatically back onto the couch, fanning himself like an overwrought Southern belle. “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you two were running a convent here!”
“It’s your turn to share, numbnuts,” Vaggie sighed, rolling her eyes.
“‘Fraid I can’t count that high, doll,” he grinned. “Lost track a couple years ago. Husk, your turn!” He sounded far too casual, as if he was very eager to hear the answer and was trying to pretend to figure out what the regular amount of eager would be.
Husk grumbled and set his glass down on the counter. “Fifty?” He shrugged. “Sixty? Somewhere around there.”
“Finally! A decent number. See, ladies, it’s not that hard once you put your mind to it,” Angel Dust sighed. “Niffty, you go.”
The tiny reincarnation of chaos giggled, practically vibrating as she licked the tip of the knife in her hand. “Bugs?”
“No, Niff. Your body count.”
She scratched her head, looking adorably confused. “Silly spider! Bad boys can be bugs too.”
“What–? Actually, you know what, nevermind. It was my fault for asking you in the first place. Okay, who’s left…” He brightened when he spotted Lucifer lounging by the fireplace. “Aha! The Big Daddy himself has gotta have some interesting answers.”
Lucifer chuckled, his chest swelling with pride. “Well, I might have slowed down in my old age, but before Lilith and I started our little family I was quite a killer with the ladies.” He thought for a bit, tapping his chin as he counted. Carry the one, times three… He finally gave up. “Maybe two hundred?”
“A-ha! Is that it?” Alastor grinned. “And you call yourself the king of hell?”
Everyone gaped. Alastor had almost thrown someone out of the top floor window for accidentally brushing up against his hand. He’d once burned a coat after Lucifer had grabbed it. He only willingly touched others to A) show dominance or B) play mind games (this option he reserved almost exclusively for Lucifer).
In short, he was the absolute last person anyone had expected to participate in this game.
Angel Dust looked like someone had just told him Christmas had come early. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t the strawberry pimp himself! Don’t keep us in suspense. What’s your body count?”
Alastor thought for a second. “Four thousand and five-six.”
Six jaws simultaneously dropped to the ground. Lucifer felt the insane urge to fly into his circus dimension and scream until his lungs gave out. A strange green beast clawed at his stomach, and he pressed his hand against it, trying to tame it before he did something truly stupid.
“Four…thousand?” Angel Dust stuttered. “But…you’ve only been alive for a hundred years?”
He shrugged. “I’ve been busy, I suppose.”
That was the last straw. Lucifer stormed out of the room. He didn’t think he’d be able to control himself if he stayed. So Alastor’s fine with just anyone? What the Hell am I then, chopped liver? He stopped in the main hall, taking deep breaths in through his nose, then out through his mouth, just like Charlie had taught them during her “How to: Anger Management” seminar.
“What’s all the fuss about?”
A familiar static ripped through the air. Lucifer scowled.
“I don’t really want to talk to you right now.”
“How interesting! I don’t want to talk to you ever, but unfortunately it’s out of both of our hands.” Alastor pretended to inspect his nails. Lucifer knew he was pretending, because he couldn’t see them through his gloves. “Charlie threw me out and told me not to return until I’d checked in on you.”
Charlie did? Lucifer shivered, pointedly trying not to think about what that meant, and what she might know about his Super Secret, Definitely Not Pathetic crush. “Great. You’ve checked in on me. You can go now.”
Alastor cocked his head, peering at him curiously. “I must say, I’m rather surprised by your reaction to my confession. Is it really so surprising? I’ve never made a secret of my favorite pastimes.”
Lucifer gaped. “This is literally the first time I’ve heard you talk about this.”
Alastor frowned. Lucifer frowned. They both frowned at each other.
“Have you gone senile? I ate a man in front of you yesterday,” Alastor asked, looking at Lucifer as if he’d lost his mind.
“What does eating a man have anything to do with it?” Lucifer asked, the same expression mirrored on his face. “You just said your body count was –”
Realization hit him like a freight train. Alastor had been born during the turn of the century. He’d struggled with modern day slang before, like vibes and cap and bet – and body count, it seemed.
“Are you…are you talking about how many people you’ve killed?” Lucifer gasped, barely managing to get the words out in between laughs.
“Yes?” Alastor wrinkled his nose. “Why is that so funny?”
Lucifer thought his sides might tear from how hard he was laughing. “Nothing,” he wheezed. “Nothing at all.”
Then he immediately started scheming ways to get Alastor's actual body count.

- prey includes small shoaling fish, squid, and crustacean species
Tuatara (reptile)
- is not actually a lizard! It’s the only living member of the order Rhynchocephalia (such a big word!)
- it’s a living fossil, meaning it was around when the dinosaurs were! Wow.

This is Lucky, with his lady Clotho. Lucky is a bantam Birchen Cochin, and Clotho was having a molt but we don’t mention that because chickens are sensitive about it. As you can see, they are small spherical borbs.
Now, Lucky is a perfect gentleman. His ladies love him, he never offers violence to chicks, he is resigned to Kevin picking him up and woogie-ing his wattles, and he was gracious to the ancient Rhode Island Red rooster that lived out his golden years in the same enclosure. (We have two, but they share a fence.)
Also his crow sounds like a kazoo solo.
But Lucky is also a bantam, which means that all the rage that lies in the heart of a rooster has been compressed into diamond-like ferocity. Case in point: we once had a fox going over the fence to grab hens. One day, the fox grabbed Lucky. We learned this when we found Lucky outside of his enclosure, covered in blood—only some of it his—and so hyped up on adrenaline that he immediately tried to fight Ninja, the top rooster, who immediately realized that he had pressing business under a rosebush.
We have not seen the fox or lost a hen since.
I tell you that story to tell you this one. Kevin has a very large Black Cochin named Pot Pie. He’s about three times Lucky’s size, and he doesn’t so much crow as roar like a T-Rex. He is huge. And every night, for months, he would go to the fence and flare his neck feathers out at Lucky—through the fence—going “If you were over here, I’d sit on you, little man,” to which Lucky would reply “Oh yeah? Come over HERE and say that.”* But they never leave their respective enclosures, because neither of them can fly for crap. Lucky because he’s too short to get over the fence and Pot Pie because he’s too heavy to get off the ground.
(Occasionally this standoff would end in someone trying to jump-kick the other one and getting tangled in the fence. I once had to sit for five minutes with a flashlight clenched in my teeth, untangling Lucky’s foot. But he is, as in said, a perfect gentleman and sat patiently while I did.)
Today, Kevin was on a work call and looked out the window just in time to see Pot Pie tearing across the yard at extraordinary velocity, pursued by a tiny wrathful rooster. Lucky must have found a gap in the fence at last, because he came over and immediately set about putting the fear of God into his giant nemesis.
When Kevin came outside to give everyone treats, Lucky was strutting around, calling the hens—there’s a little chuckle roosters do that means “Look, ladies, I found a treat!”—and surrounded by an admiring crowd of both bantam and full-size ladies.
Kevin escorts Lucky back to his own enclosure, where his own hens greet him as a conquering hero. He then searches for Pot Pie, and finally hears a THUD as the T-Rex jumps down from hiding inside the coop, pokes his head out, and is like “Is it safe? Is Satan gone?”
He did not go to the fence to threaten Lucky tonight. Pot Pie, as Kevin said, Found Out.
Meanwhile Ninja, far and away the most intelligent chicken on the property, decided it was another good day to spend some quality time under the rosebush.
*loosely translated from Rooster, a complex and idiomatic language consisting mostly of insults.

Congrats for 2k! You totally deserve it and i love you writing sm <3 to celebrate, could i ask for 🍓 with Eddie with this dialogue “you’re so pretty.” “I’m what?” “I said you’re so pretty.”? where reader is admiring Eddie in every possible way and he can't believe when she tell him he's pretty
summary: eddie gets flustered when you call him pretty
gn!reader 0.6k words
Eddie’s heart is going a mile per minute. And all you’re doing is holding his hand.
“So like, Robin said Steve lost it, but he said she lost it, so now I don’t— Eddie? Are you okay?”
Eddie blinks. He realises you’ve stopped walking and you’re staring at him, a concerned pout on your pretty features. He resists the urge to squish your cheeks.
You’re looking at him expectantly. Eddie doesn’t exactly know why. He’d stopped listening to your voice the moment you’d grabbed his hand.
“W-What?” He stammers, then desperately tries to stabilise his voice. “Sorry, what did you say?”
Your frown only grows deeper. Eddie wants desperately to kiss it away.
“I said are you okay?” You repeat slowly. “You’re quiet.”
“Oh, I’m fine,” Eddie says, too loud. He tones it down when he sees your concern grow, shrugging like he’s not bothered at all. “Just thinking, I guess.”
You tilt your head to the side, confusion pulling at your brows. You look adorable like this. Like a puppy. “About what?” You ask, squeezing his hand.
Eddie wonders if his hand is sweating. Then he wonders if you’d find it gross if it was.
“It’s a secret,” he says, because he was definitely thinking about you and he’s not about to admit that.
A grin spreads across your face slowly. Eddie watches the corners of your lips quirk up and a few of your teeth appear and almost melts into a puddle.
“Really?” You ask, like you’re as enthralled by him as he is by you.
Eddie nods. “Mhm. Really.”
You stare at him and Eddie thinks for a second that maybe he’s said something wrong. Or done something wrong. But then you’re pointing to a spot in his hair.
“You’ve got something in your— wait, let me.” You push up onto your toes and Eddie tries not to breathe too loud or too fast when you lean over him and pull something out of his hair. You’re gentle as ever, touch so feather light Eddie wouldn’t have felt it if he wasn’t so fixated on you. Your scent washes over him for one blissful second. Sweet, flowery, something like honey and lavender.
You pull away with a tiny leaf pinched between your fingers. “A leaf,” you say amusedly, flicking it away.
All at once you and Eddie both seem to realise how close you are. You’ve stepped into his space to retrieve the rogue leaf, and you haven’t yet stepped out. Your hand is still in his and your faces are inches apart. You’re staring at Eddie so intensely he thinks he might die. He’s about to make some stupid joke about leaves when you say,
“You’re really pretty.”
Eddie startles. He’s not quite sure he heard you right. “I’m what?”
You giggle, a breathless, lilting sound that has Eddie’s heart soaring. “I said you’re really pretty,” you say lightly, like it’s a normal thing to say, like Eddie doesn’t feel like he’s on fire from head to foot right now. “Your eyes especially.”
Eddie thinks he’s dreaming. He blinks extra hard to make sure he’s not. “Th-thanks…” he stutters, hardly embarrassed by it because his mind is too busy repeating your compliment over and over, like a broken record.
You beam. “You’re welcome. C’mon, let’s go, or Dustin’ll have our heads for being late.”
You take off walking, your hand in his. Eddie has no choice but to follow. You’re at the Henderson’s front door by the time he remembers to tell you he thinks you’re pretty, too. You smile so big Eddie’s sure it hurts your cheeks.
