TS4 has been repaired for a few days now. Removed a bunch of unused CC and several unused households. One of which had my Atem Sim in it (cue sad moment when I finally realized it). Obviously this meant I had to go back and remake him. As always, I'm constantly in the market to find the perfect hair, which leads me down a CC rabbit-hole of finding everything but the CC I'm looking for. And of course, everytime I think I've finished making him and decide to do a little photo-shoot in the CAS screen, I realize while cropping the images that there's still something missing.

Not going back and fixing it atm (I found the lower arm bands to go with the upper ones and I'm not in the mood to go do new screenshots right now). Instead I'll just share pics for funsies.

Next up in the Sabzerus designs: Tighnari and Cyno!

I know this is unrendered, but I already committed to not rendering these two until I finish Haitham and Kaveh's designs which, in hindsight, is difficult atm because I have more ideas about Collei's design over them. With the recent release of Sethos, it seems that it would have to wait until I finish his and Collei's designs when I get to them. I'm writing a fic now lol so it the wait is probably quite long.

Tighnari's is relatively easy and I'm so pleased with the results! He finally looks put together and not... odd, palette-wise (to put it mildly). His clothing is based on the traditional dress of the Kabyle people, an Amazigh ethnic group from northern Algeria, with some modernized touches (I used references from modern-day photos of Kabyle dress!). The highlight is the burnous (hooded cloak), originally a symbol of resistance in the Algerian War of Independence and now a garment worn in special occasions such as religious festivals. I think it would be appropriate of Tighnari to wear one for his Sabzerus dress.

Cyno is so far the most difficult one to design. I have 0 references outside of speculative fashion plates and museum pictures of jewelry. I struggled so much with the outfit components, but I persevered and this is the result. His clothing is based on what Ancient Egyptian high priests of the New Kingdom wear. The long shendyt (kilt) and shawl are made from linen, which in higher social classes are woven so finely they appear as though transparent. Not just luxurious, but also airy for comfort against the desert heat.

As usual, close-ups and some more thoughts under the cut:

Tighnari's canon design is incredibly confusing to me, because unlike some other Sumeru characters I have absolutely no idea which part of Algerian (or Arab, but that's a very wide ballpark) dress it's supposed to be based on. Where is that white fabric wrap even from? However, when I looked at his hoodie, I realized that it's probably supposed to be a "modernized equivalent" of a burnous. Probably.

The belt accessory is actually an article I always see on women's robe kabyle, but never men's. I think they look neat and Tighnari wears belt accessories, so I incorporated them. (If any of you seeing this are Kabyle or Amazigh, do tell me more of the nuances. Are they exclusively feminine accessories? I also read that Kabyle women tie their sashes differently depending on marital status, but does this only apply to sashes or does it also apply to these cord belts?)

It's not very obvious, but the burnous has a split back, so Tighnari's tail can poke out comfortably. It's also pretty fun to try and incorporate elements of his official design, such as the paw-print gloves, the boots, and the turtleneck. To me, Tighnari without a turtleneck is unimaginable for some reason.

I've been tentatively calling Cyno's design "the one time Cyno puts some effort into doing his hair". The little braids aside, his hair is actually in a half-up bun. I really should draw these refs from more angles... and this is unimportant in the grand scope of things, but I gave him some beef. My guy deserves more beef (and I apologize for covering his chest regardless).

The wesekh (wide collar) is made from gold and various precious gems/minerals. This one has gold, carnelian, and turquoise. The narrow golden beads on the outermost layer represents beetles, which in turn symbolize resurrection (i.e. Hermanubis' indwelling within Cyno).

I've always been baffled at the fact that Cyno wears mostly black, but would prefer for my design to contain elements from his actual design, so I kept the sash and helmet black. However, I do know that too much dyed linen (and animal fibers) are inappropriate to wear in temples. Unless you are a funeral priest, where you wear a leopard skin as a part of the rites. Then again, Cyno's biggest inspiration is Anubis, so perhaps he could get some leeway here...

To continue with the flower theming, I chose the Sumeru Rose for Cyno and Tighnari wears the yellow flower on his canon clothes once again. It's never mentioned in game, but I'd like to think the Sumeru Rose is among the national flowers of Sumeru along with the Padisarah, so it's appropriate for the General Mahamatra to wear it.

Lastly, I gave them matching double piercings. Tighnari wears them on his right ear (as per his canon design), and Cyno on his left. Another matching set :)

A LITTLE BACKSTORY

Immaculata was born in Antiva City as one of many bastard children of King Fulgeno II, from a Rivaini mistress. Her mother, a rich, independent merchant from Rivain, had no plans nor desire for children so as soon as Immaculata was born, she gave her away to her father, who in turn gave her to the Crows and House de Riva in particular. Her mother would later join the Lords of Fortune, although Immy would have a hard time recognizing her even if she tried.

She spent her formative years in Rialto and Bastion, where she trained under Crows. It was as you'd expect; torture and harshness, but not without any good results. She grew to be a good gymnast and also good with daggers. She trained under Viago, her half-brother, when she was older. He was the one who taught her the art of poisoning.

Little did she know that she was also a latent mage, the kind that could've been made Tranquil in the Circle due to weak magical abilities. But her magic did not manifest when she was a child, so she carried on her like as if she were just another Crow, doing contracts.

That would change, however, when she botched a contract on Rialto's Acosta family; she was tasked to kill only the father but she had to kill him, his wife and their kids to save her and Crows' reputation. That very same night she was visited by a demon of Regret who's been haunting her ever since.

Surprisingly she wasn't kicked out of the Crows for this, but it did prompt her to try and do some good by saving slaves from the Antaam some time later, without consulting her superiors, which did end up getting her removed from the Crows for a bit.

In the interim period, she worked independently in Tevinter as an assassin, using the money she saved from her time as Crow, before she was recruited into looking for the Dreadwolf.

Harvest Moon: DS Cute part 1

If you’ve been following my journey, you are probably surprised to see another Harvest Moon game write up already. Today on my day off I decided it was time to actually be around my cat who for reasons I have to lock out of my room where my consoles I’ve currently been using are. I played a little more of STH (we are officially at the final stage and I bought the house upgrade, now halfway to the doghouse purchase) and picked up what I could actually take with me in the near future. The major set up was figuring out what schedule to develop for my character to progress through the story which simply came to be jewelry farming mixed with smaller tasks.

Once again let’s view my goals for the playthrough:

Marry Skye (currently at black heart)

Fully upgrade and furnish house (Currently at 2 with clock)

Build each of the buildings in stone; Barn, Coop, Maker Shed, Silo, and optional mushroom shed. (First 3 obtained)

Save the Harvest Goddess (29/60 sprites)

Now DS Cute is a game I’ve owned since it came out and I basically completed the story but as with everything, guides could be confusing as they were often incomplete text only documents with varying accuracy and I didn’t have a well made farm. Tutorials STILL might not be accurate however, I at least now know of fogu and portable tech to reference.

Gameplay wise I was never deeply fond of the original DS releases, the biggest problem being the touch gameplay was stressful so I think I will be avoiding animal care this time, or at least willingly being bad at it to cover the sprite requirements. Overall the game also felt it turned the chill space of Forget me not into a much more stressful weed addled environment. One of the thing I will probably end up doing is covering wild areas in trees to stave off weed growth even though it may harm my curry making down the road. Which is the real reason I want to play this over, I felt like I missed out on Skye since I think that was the one thing I struggled to finish before as well. Finest Curry is a hard dish to make requiring all the curries and failed dishes to be mixed together. ATM his birthday is in a few days so I’m certain to miss the big point bonus and as it is I’ve been working with just low level gifting. Once I get the kitchen and pot, I hope to move onto regularly giving Black Curry as waiting for any events is frustrating. If I had to think of a HM game that I do not think of a good time to play, it would be the DS duology but ironically Skye’s story most compels me out of all the bachelors from the series, even Animal Parade. I always particularly liked white haired characters, having an anime crush on Soul around the time this game came out and it was exciting to have a pretty boy option for once.

Now that I figured out a daily routine in it (Wake up, take care of pets and chickens, forage, and jewelery mine), I’m hoping to bring my DS along with me an play through it over the course of the next month. Seeing as STH should be complete by the new year, that already sets me at 2 1/2 games to be played through! Exciting! (Please stop me from fooling myself into thinking they’re already played through). The harder aspect to figure out is what to do for my other handheld ones which, is most of them. You see, the trouble is a number of them have dlc on my new 3ds the plain one and I’m struggling to procure a battery for it. Need to actually search up what to find for it since multiple times I ended up with the wrong size. `From there I’d probably jump back into HM3 for the month if I finish early.

glance: At first glance, what stands out most about your OC's appearance? What's their distinguishing feature?

good question.. maybe her thick facial stripes? she has very fluffy cheeks and i like her hair too so maybe that. she has a kind of sleepy looking face

motion: How does your OC move? How does their clothing help or hinder their range of motion? Are they flexible, coordinated, clumsy?

she tends to 'stroll' would be the best way to describe her slower gait i think, or 'stride' and move with purpose! she leads with her shoulders and has heavy footing i think. not particularly coordinated but not super clumsy, her only flexibility comes from doing stretches pre workout and her arms/fingers/wrists move easily from being a musician playing bass. i dont know if her clothes rly help or hinder her range of motion she just wears like normal person clothes. they might seem kind of constricting to blue if he tried something like a button-up (he hates buttons) but their styles dont rly match up theyre both masculine in different ways

canvas: Does your OC have any scars, piercings, tattoos, or other markings? Do they display or cover them up at all?

she probably does have scars here and there just from living life but i wouldnt specify them on a ref sheet or really add them in drawings i think, but she doesnt have tats or piercings atm. she likes the look of them she just isnt really interested in them for herself. i think if she did get tattoos she wouldnt care about displaying or covering them she's just walking around

bling: What jewelry does your OC wear? Does it have any meaning?

she doesnt usually wear jewelry she'd probably just motion to her hearing aids and say they count. she may wear rings sometimes but likely not anything else. sometimes she might borrow or wear blue's dog tags (that can signal MANY different things in their relationship or lack thereof at the time)

favorite: Does your OC have a favorite article of clothing or accessory? What is it? What's the meaning behind it? Do they wear it all the time or do they wear it sparingly to keep it safe?

shes probably got cool work boots she likes that she wears constantly! she also wears cowboy hats sometimes so shes probably got some favorites she got in texas she keeps with her. i dont think she wears them a lot though

now for the other question, how my ocs in bands dress onstage vs day-to-day.. its a good question i think it rly just depends! ill go thru them tho.. its mostly blues band with a couple other ocs tossed in there, not all my musicians but not all of them perform on stage and also quite a few of them r newer characters or r going thru design changes so it might not stick if i did include them anyway

blue: it does depend on the show but typically i do think he dresses up more on stage but its mostly in like leather harnesses and spiked wristbands and stuff, maybe more of his piercings in and necklaces, tail bands and stuff. underneath maybe shirtless or in a tank top/black t (that he'll probably throw off at some point) with leather pants maybe, shoes that r comfortable to run around on stage for a few hours in. at home hes just in like a tank top and sweatpants lol. he is not dressing up at home. archetypal masc fits

elle [blues band]: she dresses slightly punkier (wristbands or jewelry maybe) or leans into her country roots more on stage than just day-to-day where she probably wears button ups or something. i could see her dressing kind of like an old southern man ngl lol

dakota [blues band]: ive been struggling w their clothing style at ALL tbh at first i thought i wanted smth more feminine for them then i leaned more masc at the moment im thinking maybe like goth-y punk-y emo androgynous SPECIFICALLY the kind of androgynous associated with that scene. on stage probably lots of black and layers, spiked collar and maybe a leash, etc. dakotas fur color palette is pretty grayscale so i think they lean into that with a lot of black outfits, maybe with splashes of electric blue like their eyes. probably that teal harness sometimes i drew them in on their th

malani [blues band]: shes goth as fuck and she loves skulls i honestly dont think her style changes that much i think she dresses up in her full goth getup to go to the grocery store. shes probably careful about her jewelry on stage tho bcuz shes the drummer and doesnt want her shit to go flying off or tangling with anything when she gets into it

kaisa [blues band]: kaisa probably leans punkier during shows than she does in her general life but not too hard, she likes green too much to commit to an all black ensemble and their music also doesnt like, require that anyway lol. she might wear camo or something on stage more than in her daily life. she likes layering her clothes but doesnt as much during shows cuzit gets WAY too hot

cain: he leans a lot more 'hardcore' in his shows than he does inhis daily life hes giving like hard fem black spikes tall boots but i have no idea what he wears in his daily life his whole thing is being a mystery. he IS fem in his daily life too but he leans into it strongly and in a VERY specific way with how he comes off to the public and how hes decided to take control of being perceived

#RPGCovers Week Fourteen Historica Arcanum (2022) Yağmur Kıyak

Nothing fills me with joy right now then a new cover, out of the blue, hitting me right between the eyes. That’s what happened when I saw a new collection from the Bundle of Holding. Historica Arcanum, it turns out is an amazing looking campaign setting from a Turkish Publisher, Metis Creative.

Empires of the Silk Road and Herald of Rain offer an alternate 13th Century Silk Road designed as an open world, and an adventure designed to build up to one climactic struggle in a legendary dungeon. The City of Crescent presents an alternate 19th-Century Istanbul. Those are complemented by map packs, wallpapers, tokens, and a soundtrack album. 

This is very much my jam– I loved historical sourcebooks, it covers two periods I dig, and I love Islamic history in general. It’s for D&D 5e which is not my jam, but seems easily ported over to other systems. I’d never heard of this before, but it apparently had a Kickstarter back in September 2022. It isn’t on DTRPG atm and isn’t listed in the RPGGeek Database. 

But the covers. Wow. Empires of the Silk Road sets the template. We have a dark black background with striking geometrical Islamic patterning around the outside. It’s like the finest woodcut. Then there’s the skull– the top of the head vanishing under the overlay of the title. The jewelry here is ornate, elaborate and, like the page border, nearly symmetrical  despite the complexity. It is such an amazing feat of draftsmanship. Then there’s the skull beneath the chains with whirlpool-like eye sockets. And then open mouth and the screaming fangs. I love that the skull image is the thing which breaks the symmetry. 

One thing that you might not take in the first time you look at it: the head-scarf, the sigils to the left and the pentagram to the right. 

The paired image to this is Herald of Rain, the campaign sourcebook for the setting. We have the same page border here, but done in dark red and difficult to see. But our skull face here is, in contrast, distinctly non-symmetrical, split unevenly. I love the fine detail on the metalwork of the mask. I can only assume it's a funerary one given that the eye slit doesn’t line up. Is it the mask of a Chinese lord or from some other stop on the Silk Road. Here the head scarf is replaced by flowing brown hair.

Finally, the more modern sourcebook, City of Crescent presents the border in a striking orange, but this time the border which boxes it in is thicker and more distinct. The orange here matches the tan of the uniform. The big signifier here is the fez atop the skull’s head– a sign of the 19th Century Ottoman attempts to mark themselves as modern and part of the supposedly advanced colonialist world. And, of course, there’s the characteristic mustache, out of place on a skull. I love the incongruity of that.   

But that mustache does draw attention to a detail which I find striking: they’re all the same skull. I don’t know if that means anything, but I love it.  

It also reminds me of the great series of covers done for the Brian Lumley Necroscope books from the 80s & 90s.

( tw : pregnancy and death ) much about cerenna before she was adopted by house lannister is essentially unknown. if either of the lady lannisters had known her past, they would know that cerenna was born to a bed slave from lys who wanted anything but to become pregnant. a smart woman, she was able to find passage out of the city through a trading ship bound for westeros. with her beauty and what she had learned of westerosi lords, she had full intentions of tricking a lord into thinking her child was their bastard - but things didn’t work out that way. cerenna’s birth mother had made it to lannisport and by the time she was to full term, none of her plans had come to fruition. she ended up giving birth there but did not survive the complications of childbirth.

growing up in a house where family was cherished and adored, cerenna was able to thrive in certain aspects of her life. whatever she wanted, she was given, as most of what she asked for consisted of stunning jewelry or the latest southern fashion. learning was never her forte, often poking her fingers during sewing lessons or fidgeting whenever she was required to sit still, but she was always listening in on her mothers’ conversations or eavesdropping on advisors complaining about the latest issue.

she has no true interest in politics, but her most identifying trait as a lannister is cerenna’s ambition. it may not be the goal of becoming queen, though she would not turn down the idea, but seeing power within her future household and what opportunities will come her way. she has learned from the best and prioritized not only family, but always being the one in control of a situation.

Hello I just found your post about the ancient hero’s aspect and thought Oh good I finally found someone who doesn’t think the ancient hero was hylian or zonai and share the same brainrot with me! I totally think he’s Gerudo because look, he has red hair and green skin, like Ganondorf, albeit he’s the only sample we got of male Gerudo BUT the jewelry on his head plus hoops earings are all pretty much Gerudo imo. I couldn’t make a connection with any other race in the game atm so I just consider he’s a mix between Gerudo and some unknown race. Interesting how he was still serving the Zonai at the time. I feel like we’re beating ourselves up over this very tiny detail in this big big game and nintendo would probably just scrap everything in the next installment but he’s just so interesting to me hzbxbzn because the thought of having a Gerudo being the hero? Or a second male Gerudo coexisted alongside Ganondorf? Or even (I’m reaching here) Ganondorf being anything but Gerudo for a change during that period. The ancient hero lives rent free in my head seriously

I definitely agree that the ancient hero has a lot of Gerudo jewelry on him, which would suggest that he is some kind of hybrid of Gerudo and another unknown, Zonai adjacent species, like you said. His hair could be connected to Gerudo heritage, though I wouldn't make a connection based on his skin color, since it is a notably different shade of green than Ganondorfs.

He couldn't have been serving the Zonai at the time, since he lived long after the last two had disappeared. The easiest explanation for this would be, that the Zonai armor which the ancient hero wore (which I believe was meant for a royal guard), could've been passed down through the royal family and given from hero to hero who served as knights.

Perhaps this race of people were the ones who lived in the Faron region. In Botw, the Zonai were described as a tribe of barbarians (ex. Barbarian armor) , but we know that the "true" Zonai we see in Tokt are... very much not that. For a godlike race that's said to have come down from the sky, the occupation of warloving warriors doesn't quite fit the picture. That raises the question of who tf lived in Faron until 10'000 years ago.

Gonna pause reborn for today to think outfits. I think between Luna and Agate circus is a good time to not only change outfits but also get some character moments, especially with how everything has been going a thousand miles per hour for our trio. But outfits come first lol.

I already described Suraya's outfit,so I don't need to worry about her. It's Blair and Leo I'm worried about. Let's see how they are atm.

Between the Belrose and now, I think it would be a good point for Blair is open up again but when slower than last time. Xe got kidnapped and both Suraya and Leo came to rescue them, despite xyr cold attitude. For Suraya especially, who xe felt betrayed by, it shows how much she cares about xem. There's also the fact that Blair saw their younger sibling for the first time- not that xe would know that. But seeing Lilith definitely set something off in xem. AND BunBun probably evolved around this point, which is gonna show some emotions from xem. All of that being said, I need an outfit that would show Blair slowly opening up again,but still being guarded. Cold....but the blistering kind you know? Maybe they let their hair loose....not in a braid I mean.

As for Leo....Cain did not give him a a damn break. I think it was pretty amusing for Suraya, seeing her little brother flush at every word that comes out of Cain's mouth( even if said words took her by surprise as well). It certainly made him think more than he ever did, but still gripping onto that denial and self hatred. Maybe this is a point where a small bit of his roots show? The sunglasses will always be there though. That's pretty much guaranteed. As for clothes itself, no real clue. Definitely something more practical than the literal suit he was wearing before hand. Jewelry is the same though lol.

Just started my day, but so far I've managed to do my stretches. I'm extremely tense and my muscles are very tight from months of neglect in this area, but it definitely made a difference on how I feel. I managed to get my morning face regimen done. I'm having to use some left over generic creams because I can't afford new ones atm, but as long as it gets me back into the routines, that's the main concern. I have 6 months to meet my goals, so not rushing it. I also used Olay Collagen cream on my arms and upper torso today. I haven't used it consistently enough to know if it really works, but hopefully I'll know something soon. I start work in about an hour, so that's pretty much all I have time for in the self care department. I'm going to fix me a light breakfast and some green tea then focus on the finishing touches of my outfit, jewelry, and hair for the day. I'll update more this evening.

According to Google, my light breakfast wasn't that light, but it sufficed. I had white rice flavored with vanilla, honey, and butter. Instead of an actual green tea, I had a cup of Yogi Spicy Hibiscus Blossom Positive Energy tea, also sweetened with honey. I made sure to take my morning vitamins and supplements too... Beet Root, a multi vitamin, Omega 3, and a generic vision formula with lutein.

I was late starting work (DoorDash driver) because it refused to let me sign in to earn by time, which is the only way I work. After an hour, I finally had to give in and do the earn by offer option, but it had already done a number on my blood pressure. Of course, I missed the main lunch rush fighting with it. I've only had one delivery since signing in an hour ago and I lost money on it in comparison to what I would have made had I been earning by time. Honestly, that's something DoorDash needs to change. You should be required to select your earning preference when you schedule and not be allowed to change it on a whim. There are reasons I only do the earn by time option and my stress levels and blood pressure are two of the big ones. These, along with my depression, are some of the main reasons I can't do what my husband would call a "real job". I guess that was probably an irrelevant rant for this blog, but since it did affect my health today it was also good to note.
