I think every computer user needs to read this because holy fucking shit this is fucking horrible.
So Windows has a new feature incoming called Recall where your computer will first, monitor everything you do with screenshots every couple of seconds and "process that" with an AI.
Hey, errrr, fuck no? This isn't merely because AI is really energy intensive to the point that it causes environmental damage. This is because it's basically surveilling what you are doing on your fucking desktop.
This AI is not going to be on your desktop, like all AI, it's going to be done on another server, "in the cloud" to be precise, so all those data and screenshot? They're going to go off to Microsoft. Microsoft are going to be monitoring what you do on your own computer.
Now of course Microsoft are going to be all "oooh, it's okay, we'll keep your data safe". They won't. Let me just remind you that evidence given over from Facebook has been used to prosecute a mother and daughter for an "illegal abortion", Microsoft will likely do the same.
And before someone goes "durrr, nuthin' to fear, nuthin to hide", let me remind you that you can be doing completely legal and righteous acts and still have the police on your arse. Are you an activist? Don't even need to be a hackivist, you can just be very vocal about something concerning and have the fucking police on your arse. They did this with environmental protesters in the UK. The culture war against transgender people looks likely to be heading in a direction wherein people looking for information on transgender people or help transitioning will be tracked down too. You have plenty to hide from the government, including your opinions and ideas.
Again, look into backing up your shit and switching to Linux Mint or Ubuntu to get away from Microsoft doing this shit.

The fact that Apple reportedly sells Apple TVs for $100+ and they’re STILL at a loss should tell you just how shady the smart TV market is. When you buy a Roku or a Smart TV, you’re buying a screen grabber. I’m not kidding. Most modern Smart TVs have a screen monitoring program built in to content match whatever you’re watching or playing (yes, even on external HDMI inputs) and sell that data to advertisers. The reason flat screen TVs have gotten so cheap isn’t because of production costs falling, but rather these companies selling the hardware to you at a loss, and then secretly selling your information and viewing habits to make up the difference. I’m not exaggerating. They’re are guides online on how to disable this screen grabbing software on a per TV-manufacturer basis. I highly recommend you look them up, or simply never connect your TV to the internet in the first place and deny it access to do so.

my biological peer reviewer (sibling) called this theory “fun” and said i should send it, so here goes
my personal theory is the feds ((”federation”)) created the eggs because they decided the best way to enforce “you can never leave” was to give the people something they couldn’t lose, like in the post by tumblr user alexaloraetheris (no relation to the smp) where their friend who might be a deity had said,
"When you die you descend to the underworld with nothing to lose. To keep you, they give you something to lose. When you want to return, they will demand it back. That's why nobody ever leaves. The only way out is to never enter."
i’m thinkin that on egg D-Day, at the end of the countdown, the feds weren’t gonna give the eggs back. they were just gonna hide them forever, or do something else, anything else, just keep them away from their surrogate parents, because then the people would just be STUCK, because people could theoretically take their eggs and leave, but if the eggs are missing, gone without a trace, then the residents CAN’T LEAVE, because presumably the eggs are STILL THERE, SOMEWHERE, IN NEED OF HELP AND RESCUE, if only the residents could find them ON THE ISLAND. if they leave the island while the eggs are missing, they are abandoning these things that have become their children.
but then in came the brazilians. and shit went south. because see, the spenglish (spanish / english) streamers were INVITED, but the brazilians CRASHED; the feds didn’t INVITE THEM, they weren’t EXPECTING THEM, but they can’t let these guys leave either, so they PANIC, and they scramble to give the brazilians the same thing--something to lose. the new egg had a brazilian jersey, homie was TAILOR MADE for them to pack bond with. the feds didn’t have time to send out multiple eggs, it was all or nothing, so they picked something they could reasonably assume all five of them would find endearing because they don’t know shit about these guys--they had a week to observe the OG batch, but all they know about these newbies is the brazilian flag on their boat--and so they sent the little egg out to become THEIR THING, the thing they couldn’t afford to lose.
it leaves open why the eggs are cracked too, bc idk what’s going on there lol, either 1: the eggs cracked because they’re hatching and the feds picked that date bc they wanted to yoink the eggs before they got Too Powerful, or 2: the feds were the ones to crack the eggs as an excuse for why they vanished--returning the eggs untouched would open too many questions the feds don’t want them asking; this way, instead of being concerned specifically with “why were the eggs missing”, the residents presume they know the answer--the cracks.
but yea i’m just gonna add as an aside that personally i think cucurucho / osito bimbo / the white fucker is way more active again because the feds are still scrambling to keep up with the brazilians (which, again, the feds weren’t expecting), and the binary fuckwad came in to put the fear of god into the newbies--maybe so they didn’t get too focused on the morse code transmissions; iirc max was theorizing that both osito and binary were part of the federation ? and if so it does make sense that the binary entity went to fuck with cellbit immediately after cellbit was introduced to the conspiracies of the island, yknow, a warning shot. i think they want them to be focused on the eggs.
BUT THAT’S JUST A THEOr

SOMETHING YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW
Your full legal name, phone number, and current address could be publicly accessible on the website WhitePages, regardless of any knowledge to you.
If you're curious, you can search either through the WhitePages website OR by typing (FIRST and LAST NAME + CURRENT CITY + WHITEPAGES) into Google (or your preferred search engine.)
For reference, I keep my identity on the internet on the down-low (ex: no social media attached to my name, no posts with easily identifiable locations, etc) and yet, somehow, it still had a concerning amount of info: my address history, people I'm related to, phone numbers, AND my FULL current address. Down to the street number. Which, of everything, I found the most unnerving. Especially because I had no clue; I hadn't received any indication from the site itself that it was publishing this information. I can't imagine what could happen to people with a history of abusive relationships or stalkers.
As a disclaimer, some of the information was a little cattywampus-- it seems to mistake landlines for personal cell numbers, among other nitty gritty things. But, if someone has malicious intent, any information can be harmful. Additionally, you have to pay to see certain facts-- it reveals things like email addresses, criminal records, land ownership, extended family relationships, etc. However it only costs like... 5 bucks. Not much of a barrier for the curious, let alone predatory individuals.
Fortunately! It's not difficult to request for your information to be taken down.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU FIND YOUR INFORMATION ON WHITEPAGES CONCERNING.
Go to their Opt Out site-- you can search it, or use this link! https://www.whitepages.com/suppression-requests
Supply the URL to your profile, and provide any details as to why you want it removed
provide your phone number for a verification code
You're all done!
I just completed doing this, and according to the notification, it takes about 24 hours for the website to take your info down. All in all, it took me under 5 mintues to complete everything.
I just wanted to share because I was honestly stunned; I google myself from time to time, and this is not a result that pops up from a simple name search. I can only imagine the harm this sort of thing could do to more vulnerable people. It's also a goldmine for scammers, or spam callers. I hope this helps :)
TL;DR: Important personal information could be public on Whitepages, and it's fairly simple to get this information taken down.

The 3 most known types of hackers...
Tumblr media
White Hat - The good guy 😇
They follow the rules when it comes to hacking into systems without permissions and obeying responsible disclosure laws. ✅
-
Black Hat - The cybercriminal 🏴‍☠️
They don't lose sleep over whether or not something is illegal or wrong [...] They generally exploit security flaws for personal or political gain or for fun. 🏴‍☠️
-
Grey Hat - The 🎭 guy
May have good intentions, but might not disclose flaws for immediate fixes, they prioritize their own perception of right versus wrongover what the law might say. 🎭

⚠️ 💻 Upon logging into the TikTok Seller US website, 11 unauthorized files were automatically downloaded to my computer, with Kaspersky identifying two of them as Trojans (file 7 and file 8) Despite notifying TikTok of this issue, they have not taken action. It has been over 3 months since I first reported it, and the problem remains unresolved.
