HOT GIRLS ARE CONSCIOUS.
I haven't been on Tumblr in about 3 months (life has been busy), and when I finally decided to check back in today, I kept seeing the same thing over and over again, so I am here to dispel some myths.
If you have seen any of my posts, you will know the issues I have with traditional TikTok-y trendy 'glow-up' advice, but today I realised how much of it is just a ploy to get us to spend tons of money on things we CAN live without. I think we all need to be more CONSCIOUS: conscious of what we can realistically afford and implement into our daily lives.
For example, in a typical 'glow-up' advice post, tiktok or youtube video, they recommend these super unrealistic routines that include a full skincare routine of every type of cream you could ever imagine, and an incredibly detailed list that lays out how you need to spend every 10 minutes of your day in order to achieve this perfect form.
It's all hear-say.
Don't get roped into thinking that you need those brand new clothes, or you need those skincare items to be your best self. The idea of turning your 'glow-up' into a sustainable part of your life is to do things you can manage to do over and over again. The secret to glowing up permanently is having a routine that keeps you happy and healthy. Instead of buying a full shelf of skincare all in one go, get 1 or 2 items with positive reviews to start. You don't need to throw out your whole wardrobe and sell your soul to TEMU just to look aesthetic; use what you have. Rather than making short term impulsive purchases, treat every part of your life as an investment.
Especially when it comes to clothing, being someone who has lost weight and no longer fits into all their old clothes, instead of throwing everything out and starting from scratch, I bought a little amazon sewing kit with a couple of needles and different types of thread and started cutting and sewing my way to a better wardrobe. (Even TODAY, I turned an old pair of jeans that I never wear into a cute miniskirt all from a 5 minute YouTube tutorial.) If sewing isn't your thing, you can try using some hemming tape and an iron, fabric glue, or whatever you can. Be conscious of the things you buy and how often you buy them.
I know lots of people like thrifting, and you can thrift online with apps like Vinted, which I personally use and love, if you don't have access to massive thrift stores like they do in America (I'm totally not jealous at all 🙄🙄; I live in the UK and the closest things I have near me are charity shops but there's a sort of stigma around shopping in them but honestly who cares what others think).
When you shop for clothes, look for timeless and versatile pieces you can mix and match, layer and style with lots of different things, allowing you to wear them well. Try to find good staple pieces, that will make the basis of your wardrobe. Be an outfit repeater. Do not blindly follow trends; take the time to curate and explore to find your style. Make a massive Pinterest board of everything you think looks good, and start to make a list of common items of clothing and accessories you save the most; these will be your staples. Don't feel like you have to stick strictly to one aesthetic; my wardrobe ranges from 'fairycore' maxi skirts to y2k denim skirts, but what matters is that I am mindful of whether I will use the things I want to buy.
Of course, feel free to treat yourself, you 100% deserve it, but don't get sucked into the idea that your self worth is determined but WHAT you have; instead it should be how you FEEL in what you have.
I like to see my blog as a little notebook of things I wish I could have told my younger self, and things I want to remind my future self, and I feel like it would be a disservice to not talk about the oversaturation of our feeds with infinite products, to the point where everything feels like an AD.
Moral of the story: don't just take everything you see online at face value. Don't get trapped in extensive consumerism; it's bad for your bank account, it's bad for the environment and it's bad for your mental health.
Also here's my Pinterest if you want to have a peek around <3 Pinterest

Twitter is not the greatest place to be rn for many reasons, but I think people are missing out on some things that are basically common sense:
Taylor can promote (which, by the way, these promotions are part of the “For Your Consideration” campaigns for awards seasons, especially the awards the movie is nominated for) because he's in LA. These are not regular or fancy screenings, so it doesn't make sense to make Nick travel.
Nick's projects have close promotional periods. Like, they overlap at some point. And he's going to focus on it because it's his job. It doesn't mean he's moved on — it means his projects must also be promoted. I think people don't know or forget the strike was during the promotional period the movie premiered.
Some people are upset with Nick because he's not talking about the movie any more. And I think most of them are clinging to the super online Nick of a few years ago or even 💜 Nick who promoted. And, again, the strike got in the way. He has to be in the USA during March, so he can likely make it to screenings or the GLAAD Awards if his schedule lets him. But people need to remember that he's over there because of his other projects, not RWRB only.
I think people diminish what the boys are doing, and pit them against each other because neither is doing what they want. And forget what they've been saying about the movie, the characters, the book. They care about it deeply, and of course, they deserve to talk about it. I hope people calm down and stop being upset because things are moving forward, but that doesn't mean that RWRB is over.
I mean I pretty much agree with you here. Incredibly well analysed and well said.
And I want to highlight your final paragraph. This is the problem with parasocial relationships with any form of celebrity: delusional fans so easily start to feel like they have some say in the celebrity's actions.
About the promo, yeah, that's his job too, and I think the disparity in reaction is kind of partly because we missed our RWRB promo due to the strike, so it suddenly goes from "he's not talking about this" to "he's talking about this a lot". (I know he's most likely gonna be at the TIOY premiere but it just occurred to me that M&G is a UK-based production though?) RWRB is in a really unique and weir circumstance where we missed out on promo and press almost entirely.
And I get missing Nick being chronically online, it seemed really entertaining, but he's just growing up and entering a new phase on how he wants to manage his social media. His past six Instagram posts were all pretty formal "business" stuff. Which, people change. I've seen people call it a rebrand but really I just think it's him changing how he views social media. (personally, I did the same thing at 2022: went from chronically online and sharing everything to being relatively inactive and only posting when it's something memorial like a birthday or a festival)
I think at the end of day we should look to their direct actions: the primary source evidence, so to speak. Nick happily signs RWRB book, refers to Henry as himself, and teases Taylor playfully through book signing. It's clear he loves this project, and experiences/ love like this doesn't fade.

hi hope you are doing well! i was wondering if you have any advice on what research would be best to do for my personal statement. i’m looking to do a course in international business management or marketing and communications (with a focus in motorsport). i’ve been trying to build a reading list but i figure that it would be good to also subscribe to newsletters, listen to podcasts and read articles, i’m just not sure where to start yet.
Your research would include looking at other personal statements online and introspecting within yourself. You need to understand how you can best answer all the questions a personal statement requires you to answer - and for this you would have to know yourself well/ start reflecting on yourself.
Here’s what I would do if I were you.
You’re right about the podcasts and newsletter bit, you’d have to do some research of the best magazines/ digital medias in those fields. Take a few days to read at least 5-7 articles, 2-3 research reports/case studies from any research portal such as googlescholar/ research gate and listen to at least 4 podcasts of different companies in this field. Try to keep these things global - such as a research article based in Asia, a podcast exclusive to MENA or the USA, articles that talk about the UK/Europe landscape.
Next:
A. Go over this guideline and look at it from a career angle.
B. Write down all the answers that you feel are true about yourself.
C. Ask your friends and family how they would perceive you/ if there is anything about you/ you’ve done that particularly stands out to them (for instance, your SWOT and their SWOT of you could be very different).
D. Next, look at some questions that a personal statement requires you to answer such as:
1. Talk about a time when you failed and how you dealt with it.
2. A time when you successfully pulled something off without expecting it too.
3. If you come from a marginalised background, discuss that and what growing up was like, and the value system your family instilled in you.
4. A problem that you’re passionate about solving/ advocating for. Could be things like helping orphanages, the environment, education for all, etc.
5. Why you want to join this course and how it’ll benefit you, how you’ll make use of it and why they should consider you as their applicant.
E. Note down all these answers as well.
F. After doing this, then I would start looking at how other people are writing their personal statements. The reason why I would do point D before F is so that I don’t blatantly copy/ get influenced by someone else’s work. By having a brief structure in place, you can therefore play around with the sentences, examples and the writing of your experiences.
Ask people to read your personal statement. People could include family, friends, teachers, mentors, counsellors, etc.

Is a Business Management Diploma Your Pathway to Career Success?
Tumblr media
Decades ago, the primary focus when starting a business was managing finances. However, today, the landscape has evolved significantly. Now, the focus extends beyond managing finances to overseeing systems and processes for efficiency, navigating diverse client relationships, leading teams to achieve collective goals, and optimizing overall business productivity. While a business leader may naturally acquire some of these skills over time, mastering management requires specialized expertise. This is why many invest their resources in management training courses.
Whether you're an aspiring, new, or seasoned manager, we will explain why investing in a Business Management Diploma  is a valuable decision today.
The Value of a Business Management Diploma
A Business Management Diploma is invaluable in today's dynamic business environment that strives for agility, adaptability, and strategic acumen. It provides a comprehensive understanding of key business operations, including finance, marketing, HR, and strategic planning. This credential serves as a springboard for career growth, offering pathways from entry-level positions to executive leadership roles and entrepreneurship. Graduates gain essential skills, leadership development, and networking opportunities, empowering them to excel in diverse professional settings and drive organizational success.
How can you nurture your management expertise?
Continuous learning and skill development are essential for managers to stay effective in their roles within an organization. Undertaking a basic long-term course like a degree or a shorter program such as a diploma or certificate in Management can provide clarity on one's position and responsibilities within the organization. Choosing a reputable academic destination is crucial, with respected institutions in countries like the UK, USA, Australia, and India offering globally recognized degrees using innovative teaching methods. These methods now extend to online education, allowing individuals to study around work or home commitments without compromising quality.
Leading course providers in the UK, like EDVORO, offer many programmes, from diploma courses to comprehensive degree programs, through their innovative online learning platform. If you are ready to embark on senior management positions, consider EDVORO's Diploma in Management online for a high-quality education to kickstart a successful career.
How EDVORO Prepares You for Various Industries?
EDVORO offers skill-specific UK Qualifications online, like the ILM Level 6 Diploma in Management, providing learners with comprehensive educational resources and dedicated support for an advanced learning experience. This diploma in management online offers flexible study options, allowing students to learn at their own pace. With expert guidance and insights into current industry trends, students will gain the skills to navigate business complexities and overcome challenges confidently.
The ILM Level 6 Diploma in Management programme, also equips students with foundational knowledge to embark on entrepreneurial ventures. Credits earned in this course can be applied toward Level 7 qualifications, serving as a valuable transition for learners advancing from Level 5 to Level 7 ILM qualifications. Graduating with this diploma in management online ensures a well-rounded understanding of the business landscape, covering key functions in operations management, research methodologies, and enhancing organizational efficiency. This knowledge prepares individuals for senior management roles in various industries and provides opportunities for specialization within the field.
Why should you take the ILM Level 6 Diploma in Management?
Managers are frequently promoted internally or based on industry experience. So, it is not always mandatory to specialize in management. However, being a trained manager holds distinct advantages over being an accidental one. By enhancing your knowledge and expertise, you strengthen your resume and earn recognition as an expert in the eyes of employers. Moreover, obtaining a British qualification from a renowned academic institution like EDVORO can give you the gift of boundless career opportunities in the field of management.

BRUSSELS, June 14 (Reuters) - Alphabet's (GOOGL.O) Google may have to sell part of its lucrative adtech business to address concerns about anti-competitive practices, EU regulators said on Wednesday, threatening the company with its harshest regulatory penalty to date.
The European Commission set out its charges in a statement of objections to Google two years after opening an investigation into behaviours such as favouring its own advertising services, which could also lead to a fine of as much as 10% of Google's annual global turnover.
The stakes are higher for Google in this latest clash with regulators as it concerns the company's biggest money maker, with the advertising business accounting for 79% of total revenue last year.
Its 2022 advertising revenue, including from search services, Gmail, Google Play, Google Maps, YouTube adverts, Google Ad Manager, AdMob and AdSense, amounted to $224.5 billion.
Google has a few months to respond to the charge. It can also ask for a closed hearing in front of senior Commission antitrust officials and their national counterparts before the EU issues a decision in a process that could take a year or more. The company also could potentially settle by offering stronger remedies than previously proposed.
EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager said Google may have to sell part of its adtech business because a behavioural remedy is unlikely to be effective at stopping the anti-competitive practices.
"For instance, Google could divest its sell-side tools, DFP and AdX. By doing so, we would put an end to the conflicts of interest," she told a news conference.
"Of course I know this is a strong statement but it is a reflection of the nature of the markets, how they function and also why a behavioural commitment seemed to be out of the question."
Google said it disagreed with the Commission's charge.
"The Commission's investigation focuses on a narrow aspect of our advertising business and is not new. We disagree with the EC's view," Dan Taylor, Google's vice president of global ads, said in a statement.
Vestager said investigations would continue into Google's introduction of a privacy sandbox set of tools to block third party cookies on its Chrome browser and its plan to stop making the advertising identifier available to third parties on Android smartphones.
She said the EU had closely cooperated with competition authorities in the United States and the UK.
The European Publishers Council, which filed a complaint to the Commission last year, welcomed the charge.
The Commission said Google favours its own online display advertising technology services to the detriment of competing providers of advertising technology services, advertisers and online publishers.
It said Google has abused its dominance since 2014 by favouring its own ad exchange AdX in the ad selection auction by its dominant publisher ad server DFP, and also by favouring AdX in the way its ad buying tools Google Ads and DV360 place bids on ad exchanges.
Google is the world's dominant digital advertising platform with a 28% market share of global ad revenue, according to research firm Insider Intelligence.
Google had sought to settle the case three months after the investigation was opened but regulators grew frustrated with the slow pace and the lack of substantial concessions, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters previously.

Important Requirements to Meet When Applying for Short-Term Loans UK
Tumblr media
Nowadays, a sizable number of businesses advertise cash advance services online. Even more financial institutions and banks exist besides these ones that offer cash advance loans to struggling people. Short term loans UK borrowers without debit cards have the option of applying online or even going in person to the lending company. Following are the requirements that must be met in order to qualify for immediate cash advance loans:
The borrower or applicant must have a job and a reliable source of income.
They must possess a legitimate passport.
They need a working bank account. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Alternatives to Short Term Loans UK
Because short term loans UK have high interest rates, borrowers who are unable to repay them have the option of opting for 12-month loans with lower rates of interest. Short term loans lender are offered for a period of 12 months, making it simpler for borrowers to make loan repayments. The short payback duration of a same day loans UK is often the most problematic aspect for borrowers. Even for those who do, it is occasionally impossible to repay the loan on time because not everyone is eligible for the full time frame allowed.
Do You Need a Short Term Loans Direct Lenders?
Even if you are dealing with a circumstance from the list above, a short term loans direct lenders might not be the ideal option for you. Despite how pressing your demand may be, there are other crucial factors. Your ability—or lack thereof—to fulfill the conditions of the contract merits careful evaluation.
Although the FCA has greatly reduced the effect of interest and penalties on short term loans, those penalties may still be enough to worsen an already difficult situation. For instance, if you take out a same day loans UK while jobless and know it's doubtful you'll get another job before the loan's due date; you'll accrue fees and damage your credit. You will find it more difficult to fulfill all of your commitments as a result, which will increase defaults and result in disciplinary action.
Applying for short term loans UK direct lender with Payday Quid will provide you the opportunity to compare short-term loans from direct lenders. You shouldn't proceed with the loan if no offer appears reasonable to you. While lenders can determine whether you are eligible for a loan, only you can determine whether you are capable of meeting the requirements.
The FCA has set a cap on rollovers at two to avoid this process repeating itself and trapping you in an endless debt cycle. In order to make sure you completely understand the procedure and that you have access to guidance on various methods to manage your debt, they also require lenders to give you an information sheet before you roll over for the first time.
If this is the case, your lender may choose to extend your same day loans UK term or refinance it under a new loan agreement. You agree to an extension of time to repay the debt, which is exactly what it sounds like. Of course, this also implies that the interest will keep rising, raising the total amount you have to pay.

To help your kids getting engaged in blissful work or to make them busy while you are preferring to work from home can be a full-time job in itself—this is the reason working parents find various ways to make their kids engaged and kids must learn must learn to find their own things to do. Kids would love daily to do something new and exciting, it just takes a little encouragement, training and proper guidance. When children constantly involve in these activities, they expand their interest and spend more time begin learning how to keep themselves busy also get involved.
Art & Craft Activities: - Make your child get involved in Art & craft activities, that will make them occupied for hours and also happy too. However, if it is to be done individually by children, make sure they should be able to do most of the setup and clean up by their own. So keep it simple and easy. For young toddlers do creativity that don't require cutting so to avoid any harm you can do the cutting in advance. For the youngest kids, it is best to allow them explore with coloring.
Reading Books/ Smart Books: - Reading is an independent activity, also it will help your child in getting a certain level of proficiency. However, there are many smart books that will engage kids of all ages and reading levels to guide them in learning new things, also in correct pronunciation and other related skills. Educational books for toddlers can be great way to promote brain development, social skills, pronunciation, vocabulary & in enhancing academic performance.
Educational & Knowledgeable Fun Games: - Nowadays everyone sector is going online, so education too is, so if you have a laptop or tablet available to your kids allow them during your work hours to play educational games, impart a little learning and fun at the same time. These games keep kids thinking and that keeps boredom at bay, so they will learn and have fun at the same time, also get knowledge with these fun activities rather watching TV or simply playing. To set a certain time limit in advance on electronic games, even educational ones because kids can find it hard to disengage from their screens. Kids need a wide variety of activities time to time to truly learn to play independently so too much time in front of a laptop or tab can run counter to what you are trying to accomplish and is harmful for them too.
Outdoor Games: - Take your child outside to have fun, play some creative games and activities along with your children make them feel comfortable and happy playing outside, don't make things complicated. Play some classic and fun games that don't require a lot of components and give proper time to your kid to listen and get involved in their activities.
Allot Household Chores: - Allot few household chores to make your child learn management and in enhancing their knowledge, (for ex. Allow your child to watering plants and teach them about plants, leaves, importance etc.) it is important for kids just to make them organized and to divert their mind. It is easy in a learning phase to teach kids & they will feel responsible in scheduling tasks by themselves. However allot proper time for everything so that they enjoy things and learn easily.

NatWest has announced its decision to shut five branches in the area of Nottinghamshire. This change will see it move away from traditional banking altogether. The closings are expected over the coming months, with Basford being the first, in Nottingham. This move comes as the banking giant adapts to a broader trend in the financial sector where an increasing number of customers are opting for digital banking rather than traditional in-person services. NatWest will be closing more of its branches as more and more people now use online banking. Some of the branches to close are in Nottingham, West Bridgford, Worksop, Mansfield, and Newark. This is within a national plan that has been undertaken by the bank to close 53 branches in the UK this year. NatWest will continue to support over 19 million customers by investing in digital solutions. Recent statistics show that the number of counter transactions for personal customers has dramatically fallen, recording a 62 percent decline between October 2019 and October 2024. In contrast, mobile banking apps have grown by 53 percent over the same period. This is part of the general consumer trend, which increasingly prefers the comfort of handling its finances online. Richard Vince / NatWest bank, Basford The following are the branches that will be closed in Nottinghamshire: Basford on Valley Road in Nottingham will close on May 21Mansfield on Church Street will shut on June 26Newark on Market Place will close on June 17West Bridgford on Rectory Road will close on June 24Worksop on Bridge Street will close on June 18Long Eaton on Market Place will also close, whose closing date is May 29. These are not just due to the reduced footfall but also in response to increasing demand for digital banking services. NatWest reported that more than 80 percent of active current account holders are now using digital services. More than 97 percent of the retail accounts are opened online by the bank, showing the trend of people opting for online banking. According to a statement by a NatWest spokesperson: "Our customers are engaging with digital banking more than ever. And more than 80 percent of our active current account holders are now using our digital services, and over 97 percent of our retail accounts are opened online. Of course, just like any business, we need to evolve and meet changing needs and expectations, and what the industry has delivered for consumers is this shift in favor of digital services, which we have responded to by investing to expand what customers can do for themselves and to make it even more personal for them." Digital banking has become the trend across the industry as many customers now want to conduct their accounts management through mobile applications or online. As a result, few customers come to branches for day-to-day banking activities, and branches are closed due to less utilization of people in the location. While NatWest is keen to enhance its digital offerings, the bank is also focused on improving customer service. The bank is looking to invest over £20 million this year in its network, with a view to improving services, enhancing the quality of its branches, and reducing the environmental impact of its operations. In addition, the bank is exploring shared solutions with the Post Office in order to ensure that customers will still be able to access basic services if the branches are closed. This move by NatWest has generated concerns about the accessibility of this service and where in-person banking is headed. Many customers are now comfortable conducting their banking via the internet; however, a section of these customers is left behind because of their discomfort with digital platforms. The bank admitted to this trend but assured them that they are not going out of banking through other channels at the Post Office. The closures are complemented by the current environmental initiatives from NatWest, which include the reduction of the carbon footprint of its branches. In this regard, the company will be able to build a more sustainable future. With its investment in the network, NatWest will also look at making improvements that benefit the environment and the customer experience. This is in balance with keeping up with modern banking demands and the need to focus on service quality. It is not a phenomenon unique to NatWest. The digital banking revolution has challenged many banks in the UK, and most have responded similarly by closing branches that are no longer serving customers' needs. While it is very convenient, digital banking does raise questions about the future of high street banking and whether the traditional banking space is becoming outdated. As more financial services go digital, it is important for banks to find ways to ensure that all customers, including those who prefer in-person services, continue to have access to necessary banking facilities. NatWest's shift towards a digital-first approach seems to be a response to customer demand for more flexible, accessible, and cost-effective solutions. Looking ahead, the bank’s continued investment in digital services and its plans for branch refurbishments reflect the growing trend of technology-driven financial solutions. As customers embrace the digital era, NatWest aims to remain at the forefront of providing a seamless and personalized banking experience, even as physical branches become less central to the operation. For those still depending on the physical branches, it is also important to remind them that digital alternatives are always there and can also use such platforms for transactions such as withdrawing cash, making bill payments, and even just performing simple banking transactions. Support and guidance to the customers for this transition process are also available in the customer service teams of the bank. In a nutshell, the decision by NatWest to close branches in Nottinghamshire is part of an ongoing trend towards online banking, which has become increasingly popular over the past few years. Though it is a big change for the community, the bank's investment in digital services and improved customer experiences is aimed at ensuring that its services remain accessible and effective in a rapidly changing financial landscape. The Entrepreneurs Who Regret Starting Businesses
Becoming your own boss can be glamorous. But not everyone who’s forged their independent professional path is happy they did. BBC Worklife | Megan Tatum
This one is fun bc it reminds me of Adam Witt's comment on getting glamourous lol, I love that kid. I've already read up on the subject of entreprenurs burning out & regretting expanding from solopreneur to a team of 4-10. This article expands on the risk factor of running a business in a tumultuous business climate where the going concern emanates past your own to that of others whom you rely on.
Sam Schreim has been his own boss for nearly 20 years. He’s opened his own consultancy firm, launched multiple start-ups and advised high-net-worth clients as an independent consultant. But if the 54-year-old could go back, he may never have taken the plunge.
“If I’d had a crystal ball, I would’ve never made that jump,” says Boston-based Schreim. “I regret it all the time. I look back, and by now I would’ve consistently been making seven figures as a management consultant had I stayed working with the large firms.”
Quitting work to become your own boss has rarely been more popular. In 2022, for instance, new US business applications spiked to their highest levels since 2004, with more than 5 million new firms starting. But as evidenced by the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank in March, which left many small firms without access to their essential accounts, being a founder comes with big risks and responsibilities – and leads some people to regret ever giving up their day jobs.
Schreim learned this the hard way in 2008, when Great Recession struck. He was forced to pay salaries to a team of 15 out of his savings. He racked up sleepless nights and huge amounts of debt. The start-ups he later launched all ultimately failed. And even now, as a solopreneur, combining freelance consultancy with writing books and developing information-based products, he often looks back with regret at not simply sticking with his job at a large management consultancy in Beirut.
“My friends envy me,” he says. “But they don’t know what I go through. Every entrepreneur is a risk taker, and the world needs them, but it's not an easy lifestyle."
It isn’t uncommon for the realities of running your own business to clash with expectations, says UK-based careers coach Ayesha Murray. “As business owners, we want to succeed, but we often have unrealistic expectations from the outset around sales numbers, income or work-life boundaries,” she points out. “If you've had a successful career before starting out on your own, there could be an assumption that whatever you try next will also work out.”
Added to this is the risk of comparing the gritty reality of your experience as an entrepreneur with the seemingly thriving experiences others share online.
Case Study #2
That was the case for Catherine Warrilow, who first set up her own PR agency in 2006, having found she struggled with the hierarchy of a traditional workplace. From the outside, it looked like a positive move. The agency grew into a successful business, with seven staff and top clients.
“But I never switched off,” says Warrilow. “I felt overwhelmed and anxious all the time. Nothing ever felt good enough.”
The stress turned her into “a complete control freak”, always micro-managing her team. It wasn’t what the now 43-year-old from Oxford, UK, had imagined. “My biggest misconception was that being my own business equalled freedom, that you could come and go as you pleased and set your own hours,” she says. The reality was life had to fit around work, with clients expecting her to be constantly available.
lol I take it she never took Entrepreunurship course where you are required to interview real live entrepreneurs for their hot takes? My one person told me she actually sleeps in her office that is how much commitment is required of her to run her own business; she was a tax accountant though, so I dunno.. but my CFO at another firm was texting my director at all hours of the night, bc his brain wouldn't stop coming up with problems to check into. Tough customer, that's what this comment reminds me of + the tech bubble-prenuers who work 16+ hours 7 days/wk + playing GOD, an interview with a Psychiatrist who treats ppl with anger issues
That’s why, in 2015, having been offered a job by one of her prospective clients, the mother of two decided to give up the company. “The day I decided not to carry on being self-employed was probably one of the best days of my professional life,” she says. “It felt like a massive weight had lifted.”
Now managing director at travel company daysout.com, she says she enjoys many of the freedoms she’d hoped would come hand-in-hand with entrepreneurism. She’s able to pop out for appointments and finish early some days to meet a friend for coffee.
As for Schreim, he will stay his own boss for now. Though he tried working full-time for a large firm as recently as 2017, he just couldn’t make the transition.
“I found myself despising having a boss over my head, having to report to work and having to deal with admin tasks,” he says. He says, though, these elements may not have bothered him if he’d simply never become his own boss in the first place.
Of course, there are plenty of success stories, and many people who hang their own shingles would never look back. Still, Schreim is cautious about encouraging anyone else to follow in his footsteps: “Anybody who wants to make that jump into entrepreneurism needs to be aware of the ups and downs.”

Building a Thriving HR Career with CIPD Courses in the UK in 2025
In 2025, the world of human resources (HR) is evolving rapidly, fueled by technological advancements, changing workplace dynamics, and the growing importance of employee well-being. In this dynamic landscape, gaining a competitive edge is essential for HR professionals. One of the most recognized pathways to achieving this in the UK is through Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualifications. Whether you’re just starting your career or looking to advance, CIPD courses offer a roadmap to success in HR.
Why CIPD Matters in 2025
CIPD qualifications have long been considered the gold standard for HR and learning and development (L&D) professionals in the UK. As of 2025, they remain highly relevant due to several factors:
Recognition by Employers: CIPD qualifications signal to employers that you possess the expertise and practical knowledge needed to excel in HR roles.
Alignment with Modern HR Practices: The courses are regularly updated to reflect emerging trends, such as AI-driven recruitment, hybrid work policies, and DE&I initiatives.
Career Progression: Whether it’s achieving CIPD Level 3 for foundational knowledge or Level 7 for strategic leadership, these qualifications pave the way for career growth.
Networking Opportunities: CIPD’s active community allows professionals to connect, share insights, and stay informed about industry developments.
Career Pathways with CIPD Qualifications
1. Entry-Level Roles with CIPD Level 3
If you’re new to HR, the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate is an excellent starting point. It provides an introduction to core HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, and performance management. Graduates often secure roles such as HR Assistant or HR Coordinator, earning salaries starting around £20,000–25,000 annually.
2. Mid-Level Positions with CIPD Level 5
For professionals with some experience, the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma helps deepen expertise in areas like talent management, employee engagement, and organisational development. Roles like HR Advisor, Learning and Development Specialist, or HR Business Partner become attainable, with salaries ranging from £30,000 to £45,000.
3. Strategic Leadership with CIPD Level 7
The CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma is ideal for those aiming for senior leadership positions. This qualification focuses on strategic HR management, business acumen, and organisational transformation. Graduates often move into roles such as HR Director, Head of Talent, or Chief People Officer, earning upwards of £70,000.
The Role of E-Learning in 2025
CIPD courses have embraced e-learning, making qualifications more accessible than ever. With flexible online options, professionals can balance their studies with work commitments. Advanced virtual learning platforms, like Avado’s, offer interactive modules, live tutor sessions, and collaborative peer forums to enhance the learning experience.
Emerging Trends Influencing HR Careers
HR professionals with CIPD qualifications are well-positioned to address the following trends:
AI and Automation: Leveraging AI tools for talent acquisition, performance analytics, and employee engagement.
Employee Well-Being: Designing comprehensive mental health and wellness programs.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I): Creating inclusive workplaces that celebrate diversity and ensure equitable opportunities.
Hybrid Work Models: Developing policies and practices that balance flexibility with productivity.
Investing in Your Future
CIPD qualifications are an investment in your career. They not only enhance your knowledge and skills but also increase your earning potential. Research suggests that CIPD-qualified professionals earn 20–30% more than their non-qualified counterparts.
Conclusion
In 2025, HR is no longer just a support function but a strategic partner in business success. By pursuing CIPD qualifications, you can position yourself as a valuable asset to any organisation. Whether you’re starting or aiming for the C-suite, CIPD courses provide the tools, knowledge, and confidence to build a thriving HR career in the UK.
