Satan and the Nature of the Deadly Sins

First note: Viv has confirmed that Satan is lying.

But I do have thoughts on where the lie here is, and what's being said or implied about the Sins. Because even accounting for the falsehood, I actually think this does strongly hint that the Sins aren't angels, and have been part of Hell from the start: presumably created when Eve ate the apple and humans gained free will, leading to sin, implicitly leading to "the Sins."

Note, Satan talks about an endless dark, "long before" Lucifer fell. He's making himself out to be a primordial entity that preexisted Lucifer and Hell's current system by a substantial margin. As if way, way back when, Satan was "in charge." If the Hazbin creation story is accurate, Hell existed without Lucifer for the duration of time it took him to be banished. We don't know how long this was, but presumably it wasn't that much time.

We also have Ozzie saying he knew Mammon "from the start of Hell." I've seen people theorize that this can fit the fallen angel theory, and he's referring to how they all met when Lucifer rebelled, but there's been so little indication that there was a big rebellion in heaven previously���as opposed to Lucifer getting kicked out for the sole act of the apple/trying to institute change as an individual—that there doesn't seem to be much evidence for additional angels having been punished. (In Hazbin, Sera warns Emily she might end up like Lucifer, citing him as an individual). It'd also be an awkward way to phrase it (something like "from before our Fall" would work better in that case). Ozzie's words in 2x07 imply, I'd argue, a common origin point, and that he and Mammon began at the same time in the same place. Which fits the Hazbin story (Eve -> apple -> free will -> sin/Hell -> Sins). It even matches with Bee saying Satan is like a brother. Common origin, but not technically related.

In which case, there possibly was endless darkness like Satan mentioned. But also, likely not much to rule, or much time for Satan to do so before Lucifer fell, when Lilith took over and structured Hell into what it is today. Given there would've been confusion and a lack of order, it likely would've been chaotic and undeveloped (Lilith being the as-of-now-canonical reason things shaped up). Satan, implied as the strongest, maybe would've scrounged up a semblance of power, but a) not for long, and b) not over anything substantial. Hence, this look from Ozzie and Bee:

But what really stands out to me is the way Satan refers to Lucifer, and the way Lucifer is separated out from the other Sins on the whole. Calling him "the golden angel" and referring to "his fall" as a distinct event separate from Satan himself does make it seem like Lucifer was something foreign that came crashing in. Note how Lucifer still looks like his angelic self. Notably, the very distinctive angel's wings none of the other Sins possess. Being a fallen angel is a massive part of his character, his motivations, his actions and beliefs. It dyes every part of who he is. On the door to the courtroom, Lucifer's angelic wings and nature are dominant in his symbol's design, and he's placed above the other Sins, whose designs revolve around their sin, or prominent physical features.

It could be argued that the others got over the Fall better, or were different classes of angels (so look different after being punished). But it's a factor that's so absent from their backstory or characterization that it'd almost undermine Lucifer's struggle to have something that colors his whole existence be totally irrelevant to the other fallen angels. I get the impression more so that Lucifer's angelic nature actually stands out, and might be one reason he feels so isolated, especially after his divorce. If he had six people who'd gone through the same trauma, he'd have something. If he's instead forced to brush elbows with and work alongside six demons that symbolize his ultimate failure, and who resulted directly from his actions with the apple, that's more complicated. Again, Satan calling him "the golden angel" makes it see like he's separating angels as something other. And "the angel's fall" is another separation. Satan lying about that part doesn't serve much purpose; if anything, if he was a fallen angel too, he could assert himself as the one who stepped up while Lucifer crashed and burned.

Instead, Satan attempts to distinguish himself from Lucifer in this entirely different way, by framing himself as something far, far more deeply rooted in Hell, older and better. It's not just an 'I'm the strongest' bluff, but there's an attempt to establish himself as the one who's always been here. And I'm thinking, when Viv says Lucifer has always been "first," she means in terms of hierarchy. Where it leaves room for the Sins to have been created as part of Hell, but Satan's lie comes from asserting the "a long time" and that he'd ever been in charge. It feels more natural to assume that Satan is doubling down and exaggerating his past authority, but not lying about his origin.

Final note: it is canon that Lucifer inadvertently created Hell, and was thrown into the pit he created. Also, confirmed that Ozzie has known Mammon since the "start of Hell." While there's a chance Ozzie is using hyperbole: it's framed like Hell was, in some form, around at least a short time before Lucifer showed up. And that Ozzie and Mammon were present. Unless there are wordplay shenanigans involved, discounting Satan's words to the extent it butts against that established timeline is probably throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Summing it up: I've seen a few reactions to Viv's post about Satan implying that it doesn't make sense with previous lore or that things aren't adding up, but I think that view overestimates how much of what Satan is saying is actually false. He's bullshitting being a primordial god-like power for sure, which fits Ozzie and Bee rolling their eyes. I think if he was lying about the whole creation story altogether, they'd have been less 'shut up, wtf,' and more visibly confused. Of course future episodes could disprove all of this, but my impression is that the way Satan referred to Lucifer and his presence in Hell actually solidifies that he (and the others) aren't fallen angels, and his "for a long time before" thing being untrue is actually a mark in favor of the Hazbin creation story being at least mostly canonical (since it wasn't a long time; he probably had like two weeks to try flexing), as opposed to proof against it.

Also maybe sets up Satan having a quiet rivalry with Lucifer or at least pushing his authority? I think it might be very relevant that Satan goes the route of I've always been here when he's trying to set himself above and apart, and that he points out Lucifer falling in as an outsider. That might just be speculation, but that framing feels intentional.

I have a dumb and undeveloped theory, but a theory nonetheless:

what if Will's painting is a foreshadowing of season 5?

okay, hear me out: first of all, the three-headed dragon represents the 3 "villains" (basically the monsters of the Upsidedown) we got throughout the series (the Demogorgon, the Mind Flayer (twice) and Vecna/One/Henry) and how they're gonna have to completely defeat the 3 of them in season 5. Because, for now, the only thing they've been able to do is sent them back to where they belong, but alas, they keep coming back, so maybe it's time for a final battle. Another interpretation of this could also be about the types of villains in the series: the "bad men" (aka: the people from the lab, Dr. Brenner, etc.), the Upsidedown monsters (previously mentioned), and a third thing that we haven't seen before or something we've seen without realizing (like closed ones being used as villains, e.g.: the flyed, especially Billy, and Vecna's hallucinations, especially Max's mom).

the second thing I wanted to point out about the drawing is that it features only the og party. I think this means that season 5 is going to be centered around them the most, much like season 1; we've spoken a lot about "full circle moments" when theorizing, and it really doesn't get any more full circle than that. We've got an overhead framing with Lucas and Dustin standing behind, with Lucas more towards the back and Dustin kind of in the middle, and Will and Mike pretty much side by side (which might mean something about their dynamics this season, but that's another topic entirely), with Mike a little more forward, either leading them or facing the Evil™ first (could also be sacrificing himself, I'm not sure). It also may look like Will and Dustin are in the middle if you don't really get the angle, but I don't think that's it.

What that "different point of views are different character duos" thing could mean, imo, is that we're going to see multiple different pairings among the og party this season; it's already been confirmed that there will be scenes with Lucas and Mike, and Will and Mike, plus some bts pictures of Mike with Steve and Robin might lead us to believe that there will be scenes of him with Dustin as well, AND the, atp, infamous bts photo of Will, Mike, Joyce and Lucas could also mean we're getting Lucas and Will scenes (or at least Lucas-Mike-Will) (this last two could be a stretch). (Disclaimer(?): we can't trust the bts pictures that much, just because two actors/actresses are together on set doesn't necessarily mean they're filming together, for this the pap pictures are a way more reliable source of information).

Now, is undeniable that symbology is really important in Stranger Things, and I might be wrong and reaching way too much, but, I don't know... It just seemed really intentional that Will made a drawing for Mike specifically that features the four of them, and with such an specific situation too, I don't think we've ever talked about a three-headed dragon before, that hasn't been a recurring villain of their campaigns, as far as we know, so I really think it might truly mean something, if not specifically this.

If this is crazy and makes no sense, you guys can ignore it, I might just miss analyzing paintings in art history now that I've graduated high school and this might be my way of coping with it. On the other hand, if someone else has already talked about this theory or this is a well-known speculation in the fandom, I was not aware of it, I swear this popped up in my head when I was looking at the goofyass drawing that Mike's Funko pop is holding in number 1539.

He actually complained about how rash the other teammates were at one point and despite the teasing in battle he acted mature.

I always talk about this in my small group of friends who love Suigetsu and Karin. When Suigetsu was introduced, he was a character who could be defined as: confident, proud, determined, determined, brave, provocative, merciless...

He was a perfect representation of what you would expect from a teenager from the lands of Kirigakure. But as we all know, Masashi decided he was fed up with his own work, threw the development of the secondary characters in the trash and focused entirely on Team 7. I think that until the Kage Summit, he was still the Suigetsu that Masashi planned him to be...

But then, in the middle of the war arc, he became just a comic relief...

Forgive me if I'm being hypocritical. I love Suigetsu's comedic side, but... Look at this.

Like... Who are you? Jugo is acting like always, he's afraid of their power, but he went to protect Sasuke. Why are you hiding behind Orochimaru...? Why are you running away? You deserved that kick from Karin...

Look at the difference between Suigetsu's reaction to Sasuke's desire to kill in the beginning and his reaction to the presence of the five Kages:

Do you see the difference in the display of fear against strong opponents? With Sasuke, it's a normal reaction for a serious character, but against the Kages... He becomes a coward to make the readers laugh and feel that the Kages are really very strong. A downgrade, in my opinion.

Suigetsu, as seen in the databook, is good at predicting battles, and he was even worried about the difference in strength between him and Killer B, but he openly challenged him, as well as Kisame (even though they were supposedly much stronger than him at the time).

Damn, Suigetsu took a Bijuu Dama to the face and survived, Suigetsu spoke proudly of his goal of getting all the swords, and the feeling was that if the swords were even in the hands of the five Kages, he would still go ahead with his goal!

So... What does this mean? Why do you want to run away, Suigetsu? Shouldn't you be excited to go to war alongside such powerful people? And then, the reason for the biggest question, probably, among all Suigetsu fans...

Why the FUCK are you WORKING for OROCHIMARU?!

He kidnapped you. He locked you in a water tank. He tortured you, hurt you, used you as a guinea pig... The way he was back then, I have no doubt that he did even worse things than I can even imagine.

So why, Suigetsu? Why did you give up your life's goal and your late brother, to work for your former tormentor?

Well... As Suigetsu fans, we can theorize why all this change.

My theory is...

Suigetsu never really wanted to gather the swords and become the leader of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist.

He was captured by Orochimaru probably between 6~10 years ago (I say this because Kisame remembers him in Kiri when he was about 5 years old, and Mangetsu must have died shortly after that). This was a dream his brother had, and since he loved and cherished Mangetsu so much, he took that dream for himself.

But then, when Sasuke freed him and he spent some real time in the world, outside of that tank... He became more mellow. He was no longer the psychopath Kiri created, who kills without thinking. Sasuke taught him that this is wrong, and even though he may still be stubborn about it, he knows it's wrong and doesn't do it.

He started to see Team Taka as his new family... And he didn't want to be separated from them, even after the war, even if it meant staying by Orochimaru's side. I understand why Karin (habit) and Jugo (need) stayed by Orochimaru's side, but regarding Suigetsu, I don't understand. Why does he call Orochimaru Orochimaru-sama? Isn't that a sign of respect in Japan? Or is it also a custom, because he was forced to call him that?

But about the part about him becoming scared... I still don't understand that. I have no theory for this, for me this is Masashi himself mischaracterizing his OC to make him the comic relief in the middle of the seriousness of the War. This is frustrating, I must say.

And my whole theory must fall apart if we think that there is no reason for Suigetsu's change... Masashi just gave up on him like he gave up on Karin, Rock Lee, Neji, and so many other secondary characters who deserved much more than they got.

All we can do is cry and accept it. 🥹

This first line could honestly go two ways of course this line could obviously go for the Queen of Hearts but I like theorizing so I'll let you know when we get to a more speculatory party sound good? Okay, so yeah Bridget was obviously not a great mother in the original time line. She was likely extremely distant and cold, only ever fetching her when she needed to and even then it wouldn't be anything loving or caring, because "love ain't it" she'd probably treated Red with that mentality too. Never showing her any real affection or care unless it was out of anger or contempt. There's also one of her most iconic lines "I loose my temper you lose your head." The queen may be regal in this franchise but she's always been violent, and while we don't know if Red’s abuse was physical or emotiopnal (likely both honestly) I wouldn’t be surprised if she found other ways to blow off some steam

Okay now for the speculation we don't really get to see Red’s father, but I feel like people often tend to forget there was a King of Hearts at one point. Like I mentioned this before but I was watching a bunch of movies about Wonderland to understand Red better and in both iterations there was a King. Like I know there's a bunch of theories that Hook might be Red’s father but just for the sake of speculation. He was likely really weak from what I saw, and probably was a laughing stalk in the queen’s court if I'm being honest.

I'm not sure what his relationship with Red might have been like while he was around but he likely didn't stand up for her much in fear of the Queen of Hearts. He probably didn't say anything for the most part, but with silence comes resentment. I wouldn't be surprised if his anger slowly began to fester over the years after being looked down on for so long. And I also wouldn't be surprised if Bridget was once a witness to that anger and lost a temper of her own. In Alice in Wonderland 2010 the queen of hearts is implied to have chopped off the head of her king, and while the two queens are so vastly different in personality I honestly would not be surprised if that was one of their few similarities. But like I said this part is mostly all speculation.

Ignoring the part about the kids this is basically Bridget’s story in a nut shell. She took so much without so much as sheding a tear. Uliana and her gang ruined her life in so many ways so many times. She lost everything to them with a smile on her face, and even after that she never let herself crumble. When she was a kid she refused to let anyone see past her smile, and when she became the Queen of Hearts she swore off showing any signs of weakness. But no matter what stage of her life she was in I'm convinced not even Ella truly saw her tears.

It's about Red trying so hard to prove she's nothing like her mother, while only ever being allowed to see herself through the lens her mother forced upon her. Red wants so badly to believe that she could be good, that she is somehow worth saving but in her mind if she can't even see it herself how could anyone else?

She's in the constant limbo of trying to be her own person while also having given up on believing that she could ever be more than the queen of hearts daughter. You can see it in the way she belittles herself so casually in the movie. When she tells Maddox that she’s a lost cause, or how she doesn't argue when Chloe says she's just like her mother. It's her worst fear and only destiny, like she's just waiting for the moment she cracks just like her mother had. It's why she needed to believe that becoming the queen of hearts wasn't the only future for Bridget and herself.

Bro just this as a whole I feel like encapsulates Red’s relationship to the Queen before her and Chloe rewrote history. Like I touched on this in my night falls fanfic but I mean Bridget like canonically threatens Red throughout the movie. I feel like I remember it happening twice but don't quote me on that. I mean she never said anything specific but I doubt that when your mother say "get it right or I'll show you punishment" she'll let you off with a slap on the wrist, and I can't help but wonder how many times Red had forced herself to say whatever her mother wanted to hear to get out of said punishments. Or even worse, what she's forced herself to do to pacify her on angrier days.

Honestly aside from occasional snark we don't even see Red openly oppose her mother in the movie except for when she stages the coup or when she says "I don't want to be anything like you" but even then she was really cautious with her words and her timing when she said that. Hell her entire song about being a rebel, and not following her mother's command was sung in a mask and hood as she hid in the shadows, because yes while she really loves to rebel and she really does believe that what her mother is doing is wrong she truly is afraid of her mother.

To put it simply she'll always be the daughter of the queen of hearts, no matter how much of the time line gets destroyed she still watched that blood spill, and I can't imagine how much that hunts her most nights. (or could I? This is giving me ideas for angst but moving on)

I imagine that after the timeline is changed Red and Bridget start spending the holidays with the Charmings and I cand only imagine how much it probably hurt the first year because she could have had this. Watching Chloe and her family be so loving and sweet, seeing them care. Red never had that, she never got to wear cheesy matching sweaters, or watch corny movies with her parents, she never got to ignore her mom when she warned her the hot cocoa might be to hot to drink, or stay up late waiting for Santa to come. Except apparently she had because the life she remembered wasn't hers at all anymore and she hated it. Why didn't she get this timeline from the beginning? Why didn't she get this mom? Why didn't she get this life? Didn't she deserve it too?

Everything, every trauma she went though was real, the scars may have vanished from her skin but never from her heart. I can't imagine her ever seeing Bridget the way she is now completely as her mother, or at the very least not for a long time.

This woman even if it wasn't her technically, she hurt Red. And even now I feel she wouldn't be able to trust that she doesn't still has the compacity do so. She'll never truly be able to trust Bridget not in the way most daughter would at least. And I don't think those sixteen years will ever truly just go away. She's still slowly unlearning everything the Queen of Hearts taught her about love with Chloe's help and most likely keeps up walls around Bridget. She honestly probably terrifies her

When Red first meets Bridget I honestly can imagine her feeling betrayed. "Everything I do is for you" that's what the Red Queen said before she staged a coup and destroyed the one chance Red had at getting what she wanted more than anything. Her freedom. And she'd say that all the time too, "I just want the best for you" "this is for your own good" "you'll thank me when you're older" we're leaning into speculation territory a bit here but just bare with me. I couldn't help but notice this trend whenever I was watching Qoh scenes she truly believes that everything she does is to protect Red, to prepare her for how the world will beat her down by beating her down first. Or better yet teaching her to take over before it could even get the chance to.

In her mind it all about survival but with Bridget as her mom Red realizes just how much she was missing. She realized it was okay to care for someone you love. That it didn't make her weak and that her old mom never needed to be so cruel All of my past, I tried to erase it But now I see, would I even change it? Might share a face and share a last name, but (We are not the same)

Okay long one but pretty self explanatory right? More than anything Red wanted her mom to love her for who she is. Not as "the future queen of hearts" but as "Red" her daughter the one she was supposed to love unconditionally, the one who she was supposed to care for, and support without question. She used to dream of a mother like Bridget since she was a kid, but now that she has one she's realized that nothing's changed.

She's still terrified that she'll never be good enough for anyone.(especially Chloe) The coppery smell of blood still hunts the castle with it's stench. She still flinches any fear when her mother tries to give her a hug. Her mother might be different but her memories stayed the same. It was as if nothing changed at all. Even so, one good thing did come out of it. Because If they could change Bridget's fate, maybe there's a chance she could escape her own

I remember you mentioned Taekook moments where we all theorize with bits and pieces and then more is gradually revealed and we're proven right. That reminds me so much of the whole Wooga + Taekook thing. There may have been other subtle moments before this (I can't remember) but the first one that comes to mind is Wooshik following only Taekook on instagram, not the other members. Then at Hobi's Jack in the Box party, we see Jungkook by himself talking with Wooga in the background of a random video. I think this started a lot of the theories about them all being friends. Then a few months later a Wooshik fan finds a photo from his brother's instagram including Taekook going bowling together. And then that kicks off their other group hangouts where they go skiing and to the musical together, and then leading to the iconic Dream premiere.

It's just always satisfying to see things unfold like this and it feels super validating. Making certain observations doesn't necessarily make you delusional and a lot of us do have the ability to pick up on other things that people miss

Yes. This is why I'm not bothered when I see people talking shit about Taekookers who seem to just automatically think we're delusional without actually looking at the information we have. We're not all pulling this out of our ass. The receipts line up. Personally, I wouldn't be here if they didn't. I know I have reasons for believing what I do, while they just go along with what everyone else has told them is acceptable to think. That's fine. There are still people who fight the idea of Jungkook being close with Wooga. I remember times when something new would happen and my TK friends would bring out the receipt for Wooshik only following Taekook on Instagram. But just for us to celebrate. I love the moments we can all share when a new dot connects, and things that came before fall into place. This is why I love being a Taekooker. It's never a struggle for me the way antis would like to believe. I just let it happen. That's really it.

JUST WATCHED EPISODES 7 AND 8 AND UNHOLY SH-

Look at all that Alastor LORE!!!!!

I AM SO EXCITED YOU DONT EVEN KNOW PEOPLE. WE HAVE BEEN FED WELL.

I also want to say that I was so freaking right in my first ramble about Alastor. Almost everything but his human life was freaking given to me in these episodes! I am very happy. Previous Ramble

*Ahem* Now, this is just a small analysis of Alastor scenes from both episodes, and I'll probably post my theories and stuff about it in a seperate post! I am currently frothing at the mouth. Obvious spoilers ahead!

Ok, so the first thing I saw was how Alastor jumped at the opportunity to go up to talk personally with Charlie.

Episode 7 thoughts:

I tried to steer away from sneak peak and spoilers, but I did get bombarded with little gifs of Alastor kicking his feet on Charlie's bed. Ruined the freaking surprise.

Anyways, Alastor obviously seemed to coerce Charlie into feeling rushed to a decision, which was obviously a deal with him.

I didn't expect him not to go for Charlie's soul. I saw so many people theorizing that was why he was at the hotel in the first place, and everything that lead up to Alistor finally making a deal throughout the other episodes, was a favor. A favor that didn't involve harm, no less.

This is still something very big, especially a favor from a princess of hell. I think the favor he needs eventually might be to help him break free of his leash, or to help protect him when he finally does in case things go south afterwards. Or maybe it could be a favor to somehow see how his mother is doing, the first much more dramatic, but I'd be happy with either.

Now there's Alastors demon form during the deal. Unholy cow, there's a lot to unpack. The first thing I noticed was Alastors FULLY STICTED smile. Like, entirely across. This could just be his true demonic from, or someone else did this to him to keep him smiling. From slipping up in his forced persona.

We also see how he can't stop smiling, even when by himself, drained of power, and hurt in his destroyed radio tower after the sngel attack. He rants and seemingly has a breakdown, but keeps smiling.

This could be how, like I said in my previous ramble, he uses his smile as a shield and as a defense for himself, like he stated to Charlie during the deal scene. Or, it's permanently there because it's just what he got stuck with in hell, or someone wanted to keep him smiling.

Speaking of which, the color is what's bothering me. There isn't much green in the pride ring other than Alastor himself. Almost every attack he's thrown has had green in it, with the crazy floating symbols, his explosions, and his void he controls has a bit of green. He can also invert colors. Why is that, when everything about him is red and black, matching the pride ring, his stitches and powers are green, like someone else's power.

There's also stitching all over his clothing, maybe as symbolism to keeping the persona up that the person who has his leash has made for him to play at the hotel.

Moving on to cannibal town, I adore Alastor and Rosie together. They bounce off each other well and just seem like real good friends. Love their dynamic! (Also, WOOOOOH! Canon Ace Alastor! Well, from Rosie. STILL THO! I am so happy, from a fellow asexual)

I was kind of sad when I realized Alastor could speak without his radio in hand when Charlie went singing with it as Alastor advertised the Executioner meat awaiting all the cannibals, with Charlie still holding the microphone. Would've been some entertaining stuff if he couldn't talk without it.

I don't really have much else to say about cannibal town, other than the Alastor comment near the end where it seems he's considering manipulating her to keep her on his side, to keep him on the winning one.

Now, episode 8.

This episode was a lot. In a good way, but still a lot.

Before the exterminators, everyone in the main cast was drinking, relaxing, and saying possible final goodbyes. Not Alastor. He was up on the balcony, watching the scene unfold.

They talk about how they enjoy the main casts company, and Alastor feels a bit sentimental as he admits he could get accustomed. Focus on the could part of that. He seems to imply he can't stay or things can't stay this way for long. Is it because of the reason he's at the hotel?

I do love Nifty and Alastor interactions. I wonder why they're so close compared to everyone else's relationship with Alastor in the main cast. Could they both be under the same leash, leaving some sympathy forbthe other? Or maybe Alastor just likes to see that gremlins shenanigans.

Now to the actual battle, Alstor was freaking peak at the beginning! His shield literally blocked off all angel interactions from the outside to keep the troops away, and it didn't even seem to tire out Alastor in the slightest!

The thing with him controlling those void tentacles to hold angelic weapons to kill the outsiders trying to break through is also just so cool to see because of Alastors ingenuity.

It took a strike from Adam just to break it, and I feel that's an accomplishment. For Adam to do something himself that all the other angels can't I feel is impressive, because he's not the head of the angelic army for no reason. I doubt heaven is that stupid to give a f-boy full control over the troops with no talent or experience to plan or lead them, at least.

Now for the Adam vs Alastor battle.

This had me at the edge of my seat, begging for Alastor not to be the one to be killed off this season.

I knew Alastor wasn't going to win, but he did have a good start. It seemed like he was toying and not taking this seriously, with full confidence in his abilities.

But that was until Adam finally got serious again, and broke his radio staff. His metaphorical (maybe literal based on his reaction) wall of defense.

This had me shook, as I saw my boy get beat in a couple of seconds. The radio staff was probably the source of at least a bit of his power from this person holding his leash, as he was worried enough about it to curse with no static in his voice during mid battle, leaving himself wide open. Or maybe this was just one of the times Alastor slipped up. It could also be the reason why he only used shadows, one of his only not-green abilities.

He still could move and talk, and I doubt he could attack or summon anything after being DIRECTLY HIT, POINT BLANK, WITH AN ANGELIC WEAPON, FROM PROBABLY ONE OF THE STRONGEST ANGELS IN THAT FREAKING EXTERMINATION, WHILE FREAKING SURVIVING AND GETTING BETTER THROUGHOUT JUST A COUPLE OF HOURS AT MOST.

(Also, shut up Vox. I know you freaking have the hate/obsession going on with the guy, but he probably lasted better than you could have, especially since you would've most likely been wire spaghetti after that hit from Adam)

I just realized that when rewatching, as before, I was just focusing on hoping he wouldn't be the one to die. But how did he survive that, and get pretty much better as soon as he got back to the radio tower? Maybe radio waves heal him, or he just has crazy recovery speed.

Now to the long awaited radio tower scene. I was hoping he would've gotten his own song by now, but maybe that shows how he needs someone else's push to be able to push on his own, like both his duets in the previous episodes.

Maybe we'll get an emotional song from him in the future. Crossing my fingers for that and a S2 as soon as possible!

Now the actual scene got me thinking. How Alastor is DEFINITELY under someone's control, as he also explicitly states it was a deal. Most likely for his soul, considering his want for freedom and to be able to do his own thing again.

I did see how Alastor was so desperate in his song snip about how he needs to find a way out of this deal he has made, with some of the most raw expressions we've seen of him to date.

But something did strike me. That on line from his song.

That's a bit of weird wording there Viv. Like, I know this is like an implication for his freedom, but imagine Alastor was a fallen angle or heavenly deity of some kind, like how the Cherubs got banished from heaven in Helluva Boss. Might explain how he didn't immediately die from Adams attack. (As you can see, I'm a bit delusional. But imagine if I was right tho)

But do imagine though, what this might imply for Alastor. How maybe the leash is holding something more than just his freedom, maybe how Alastor might've been even more powerful than he is right now, with the holder keeping some of his original raw power from his grasp, making him rely on their green power to survive and stay at the top.

The green light surrounding him with the line about him pulling the strings might also be how Alastor might want to take his holder's place, how when he's finally free from them he'll finally be able to take over that green with his own power, with his shadow.

I'm still wondering if Alastor is hiding side affects or pain from getting a beat down courtesy of Adam at the end there, as he seemed to take the most damage out of everyone while staying 'alive'.

Anyways, I need to wake up early tomorrow, and writing this in the middle of the night as it struck won't be pleasant for future me, but at least I could get all my thoughts together.

in myyyy opinion I honestly don't think anything major happened 😭 I have a Couple Reasons and it's mostly bc I'm a "they were fucking the whole time" truther, but I can see where people that view paul as being repressed & rejecting john would find india as the most likely Catastrophe Spot

but basically for me it just comes down to:

the Biggest shifts in their attitudes to each other seemed to have happened when brian died & the subsequent mmt disaster, when john started going all in with yoko, and finally at Some point between the rooftop concert and the abbey road sessions. none of those, to Me, line up w something major happening in india. they were already a little strained after brian/mmt & they seemed to be still at that "strained but still friends" point after india

apparently, paul & ringo leaving india early was pre-planned out. there was like an article that mentioned that they'd be leaving early before the beatles even left for india, mentioning that paul would be coming back early to deal w some business stuff. so this, to me, is a hole in the Big India Shift theory

and IF they were fucking the whole time like i personally believe (i may be crazy it's fine), i think that fits pretty well with the lil reference we get in get back. bc john blows that mic with GUSTO & paul isn't acting nervous or like someone who just got called out for ditching him after fucking him, he's just sort of giggly/flustered like john's just referencing a time they fucked that they can't talk about in front of people lmao

so for MEEE what i Actually think happened was probably just....... things getting More uncomfortable (what with john constantly getting telegrams from yoko & the fact that cyn was there and her and john were Not getting on well) & them possibly fucking but it not really being a big deal bc it was just already a thing that they did.

i Do agree with one take i saw in the general beatles fandom world that part of the reason things started to go sour for everyone after india was just that they were all sober for the first time in fucking AGES & when that happens you kind of look around at yourself, your life, and the people you're around and start questioning things. i think by that point they were all becoming highly individualized people & without the security blanket of drugs it became apparent that they'd drifted apart. not just john and paul, but all 4 of them (& cyn and jane, for john & paul respectively).

i mean i could be wrong! if i'm wrong abt paul just being closeted & them having had an acknowledged sexual relationship going on, i can see where the logic would follow that maybe something happened in india. but honestly, for me, even in that case i just don't see enough evidence of smth happening. i think it's a Good Spot for something to happen, like narratively/for fanfiction, but as far as it being like a solid theory for me i just don't really buy it? it's kind of like how for me personally i think a "good spot" for them to have a tender moment would be after the "bigger than jesus" incident, but it's not something i have evidence for or necessarily Believe, i just think narratively it would be neat. same goes for india, so like i can and do still enjoy fics/headcanons about it, i just personally don't see enough actual concrete evidence to lead me to believe in it seriously.

the way how I can tell that something is at least readable to me is that if I can prevent myself from trailing off of the thing I'm reading. (like I'm not staring out the window constantly or thinking of anything else other than the thing I'm reading) and your forest deity fanfic does exactly that.

I cannot tell you how focused I am on that thing. If I take my eyes off of it, it's either to go into theory mode and try to figure out more lore about the au, or just to laugh at what happened. Like that one part in chapter 8 where Petra was telling Aiden off got a laugh out of me.

I can literally hear the characters speaking out what they're saying. Thank you and your boyfriend for sharing this with everyone who is able to see it, I love both of y'alls writing and I CANNOT wait to see more of the au!!!!!!! I hope your bf makes a good recovery from his surgery!

My main goal with writing is to try and keep it simple yet descriptive enough to paint full pictures without using too big of words so you aren't going back and forth to google to look something up. I want my fics to be an easy read, while still being fun enough to keep the reader entertained (because I too am very easily distracted from reading). Yes, the au has a big mysterious plot and a lot of dark undertones, but I still try to keep it funny and silly too like how mcsm truly is. I like to get a good laugh out of people so I'm glad you're able to enjoy those bits. I love writing Petra and I'm so excited to get deeper into the lore behind her and the rest of BeaconTown (and Jesse too 😍). I keep seeing people trying to theorize certain things and it's got me so excited to see some people catching on. I won't be saying anything though 🤫 These things are always better for the audience when I keep my mouth shut and don't say spoilers. Questions are always welcome, but not everything can be answered if it's relative to plot.

All for One and Quirk Origin Theory

Okay, so I have some thoughts on 407 and how it recontextualizes the world of BNHA and Quirk history.

According to the latest chapter, not only are AFO and Yoichi twins, but they're also (possibly) the first with Quirks because they're apparently older than the Glowing Baby. Who society (and the readers) have been told since chapter 1, was the first Quirk user. 

Over 400 chapters later that no longer appears to be the case. Although we also have to account for unreliable narration messing with the order of past events, and I don’t think we can know for certain if the twins or the Glowing Baby were born first since the twins likely have no actual records of their existences anywhere.

But if the twins truly are older and possibly even part of quirk society's origin, then I also wonder about some of the other things stated in 407 and how it seems like people older than AFO have Quirks.

“Meta abilities… also started to present…. in young people going through puberty.”

Which means that a variety of people were developing meta abilities all around the same time, which led to chaos in society due to inadequate research into the meta ability phenomenon that has been ongoing since the Glowing Baby was born, since researchers “hypothesized that a novel disease was to blame.”

In 407, we see some adult soldiers talking about meta people and coming across a young AFO in the streets, mentioning that they should avoid him because he might be a carrier of the meta ability “disease”. Which means that many believed in the early days that meta abilities spread through some sort of contact with someone who was a carrier.

This line of thought actually makes me believe that people older than AFO (who’s still a young child) have gained meta abilities, as mentioned a couple pages earlier.

We can even see a very young AFO apparently stealing Quirks from people he’s defeated or killed, who look a fair bit older than he does.

Which indicates that a variety of young people all over have suddenly developed powers with the disease line of thought being the most widely spread bit of information to create a wall between those with meta powers and those without.

It’s very likely that the original mutagen could have spread from All for One, or the mutagen could have been something that affected AFO and Yoichi’s mother who then passed along the mutation to the twins, since she was clearly showing some signs of a minor meta ability that AFO stole from her when he was born.

Whatever mutagen it was altered the DNA of multiple people - many of them either born with their meta ability or developing them as minors before and during puberty; which makes me hypothesize that the earliest people with meta abilities, all in the same generation, gained it through some sort of environmental factor and they weren’t all born with altered genetics.

Some sort of mutagen altered their DNA, triggering the appearances of unique powers and appearances, and Ch 407’s narrator makes it seem like Quirks began with All for One and his brother.

I wonder if any of this will be confirmed, or if we’re going to be left to theorize about the origins of Quirks and AFO’s possible role as one of the earliest people with meta abilities.

Daycare Attendant- Hot Take Inbound!

We could talk for hours about this darn room. But let's hyper-fixate on ONE thing about this room today, shall we? The destroyed staff bots.

I've heard several theories on who destroyed them. The two suggestions I can recall are either Moon or Fuhnaff suggested someone trying to help Vanessa (Jeremey, I think? I'm fairly certain it's in his first theory video).

......What if it's Sun?

In Ruin, Sun KNOWS a reboot to their system is what they need. How exactly did he know that? What if he's been messing up staff bots looking for a way to reboot them, FIX them, without help from Fazco technicians or parts and service? Personally, I think I would also go with a form of self-help, given their situation. However, one could argue the reboot wouldn't have worked anyway if Sun and Moon hadn't mutually agreed to it. Sun may have only realized the reboot was necessary when he was trapped by Moon in between Security Breach and Ruin. Suddenly, he knows what it was like to be treated like Moon, and it SUCKS. Going back to the way things were is officially off the table, so the next best thing is to become something new. In that case, my theory goes completely out the window.

However, I could also see Sun doing this to try and find ways to reconnect to Moon. I theorize like most, that Sun and Moon can connect and speak to each other to a certain degree, no matter who is active. At the time of Security Breach, I think that connection has been completely cut off for quite some time. But that's a topic for another day.

There's not a lot of evidence behind this theory. Instead, take it as something to chew on. I'd be interested to see what people think.

I was reading the investigation you were doing on male loneliness, alongside doing a little of my own, and I just gotta say, the implications I see of what these dudes are saying...wow this whole thing is the BIGGEST and most densely packed can of worms I've seen in a LONG time.

Because what it looks like these guys are looking for is...EVERYTHING that MULTIPLE relationships have to offer - shared interests, interest in their lives, physical intimacy (sexual and otherwise), emotional release and exchange, FRIENDSHIP - and yet they're just...assuming that they can fulfill all those desires with sex.

We're all lonely, we're all having trouble building and maintaining community, and I really do feel it'd be disingenuous at best to say that the ways people experience the fallout of that aren't gendered - but they're not gendered in the way these guys think they are, either.

As a queer guy, one of the most alienating things for me is the way that theres a double-bind in play - where mainstream society treats reaching out for emotional connection as "unmanly"...but a lot of queer feminist spaces are currently so overrun with gender essentialist radfem bullshit, they often just REINFORCE that idea with different justification; just replace "unmanly" with "making it all about you". And, ironically, these dudes are only making the former worse by leaning on the assumption that they can solve all their problems with sex - because MEN don't NEED to process our emotions any other way, right? (They heavily imply with their proposed solutions, while everything they express about what they're feeling SCREAMS otherwise...)

And the fact that they've so thoroughly convinced themselves of this - and put out such a large volume of talk and writing about it - ironically makes it so much harder to talk about the ways widespread social alienation DOES interact with gender.

Absolutely bonkers tbh. I'm not sure how to even begin to contain all these worms.

Indeed, it's got so many aspects to it and the thing is, you won't be able to resolve it without involving (cis straight) men in the conversation especially those who have experienced first-hand how harmful patriarchy and gender essentialism can be and were able to learn from it. This is not something anyone can resolve by making up theories about why those men are the way they are. You can't theorize about a group, not involve them in the conversation and expect things to change.

It will require a lot of education, and since who they'll have to reach will be misogynistic boys and young men who have been brainwashed by masculinity grifters online and taught all the wrong things by the toxic men in their lives irl, to counter that the lessons will have to come from other cis straight men, they won't listen to anyone else, which means that we will need ally men on our side more than ever.

so um, i wanted to rant in here for a little bit. so far, i have loved your dybmn series and this makes me think that the way you write your characters complexities is so good. i’m a little afraid of sharing this as everyone here seems to love dybmn spencer.

because god, spencer is so unfair and insufferable. reader is insecure but not as unbelievable unbearable as spencer, i understand if i might be misinterpreting this but it was easy to deduce he would be the one projecting his own insecurities on reader.

it annoys me how he won’t give her the opportunity to truly enjoy her body as she wants to sexually engage with him. he claims he wants her and cares for her pleasure but sometimes it doesn’t really look like it, it feels like some sort of manipulative traumatic tactic to actually hold her hostage even though he says he’s not.

it’s contradictory. just because everything went wrong with elle, which is WEIRD considering his whore phase doesn’t gives him the right to expect that much from reader. god, he’s a profiler. he might not be able to actually read minds but i’m pretty sure he’s perfectly capable of picking up clues with his IQ.

specially during her first fucking time with a man. how would he want her to tell him she loves him if she’s still soooooooo inexperienced? literally how? i feel bad for reading it this way but the andromeda chapter fucked me upppp. there were all sorts of theories going on my mind after i read it.

she knows nothing about relationships and is constantly put into the dangerous position of wanting to please him, he never forces her but it’s pretty obvious she TRIES. how is that not enough for him? and it’s not just the sex, he has always had her affection at his disposition (i say this according to the way she’s agreed to accept his invitations to events like the bar or film festivals, the way she’s constantly kissing him without being sexual and always asking for him).

nevertheless, i’m really excited to see how the series will be evolving as they go. every chapter comes up with something new and i love that we’re able to theorize about it. i just really hope we get a big apology from spencer because….

me explaining stuff abt reid below👇 there are reasons for him being the way he is it’s not ALL inexcusable i promise!!

he is honestly probably more insecure than reader. one thing a lot of people have asked me is “how does it make sense for him to be so traumatized from what happened with elle and still have slept with a ton of women after” and honestly psychologically speaking it’s really not a reach that he would have done that! often when people are really insecure about themselves they seek reassurance and validation from other people, and sometimes they go about getting that validation through sex! i imagine since elle he’s never had a real committed romantic relationship and it’s all been very casual hookups, sometimes w the same people but never breaching into romance territory (don’t mention maeve idk if she’s canon or not in dybmn universe lol)

and I don’t think he’s holding her hostage, he just truly can’t imagine that she loves him back. and if you think about it he has every reason not to. his affection hasn’t been reciprocated or received well for most of his life (elle, his dad, his mom, jj (sorry for bringing up jeid)). even if you’re receiving all the input that someone likes you, if you hate yourself enough you’ll go to crazy lengths to not believe it.

i agree that it’s not super healthy, but he knows that! in my mind that’s actually why he told her on the phone that they didn’t feel the same way—he was trying to essentially be like hey girl you should know im pretty sure you don’t like me as much as i like you, and that’s fine, but if it makes you uncomfortable then we should talk about it because i don’t want you to feel like there are terms and conditions on our relationship that you didn’t understand.

also it might be helpful to realize that in some ways spencer really is not more experienced with romantic relationships than she is. he had a situationship with elle that never went anywhere and a bunch of hookups (and maybe maeve but even if that happened it was like a fake relationship lmao they were e dating and I don’t believe he really loved her but that’s a post for another day). but he doesn’t know how to exist in a healthy relationship with a partner who really cares for him any more than she does. most of dybmn is from readers perspective and she FEELS that he’s way more experienced but that experience is pretty much limited to sex which is obviously a big hang up for her so not surprising that she focuses on it so much and his experience seems so vast. but yeah romantically he is also a late bloomer and fairly stunted. he’s kinda figuring it all out for the first time just like she is!

so anyway that was me defending reid for four paragraphs!! but also maybe he’s just an asshole idk men suck why am I defending one of them
