Here’s some more post-canon Mihawk’s Home for Displaced Pirates, which continues to be very funny to me, except this time not from the POV of a Displaced Pirate. Now that I’ve got a boyfriend for King, I can throw in Katakuri. If I write more of this (as in, King and Katakuri actually interacting lmao) maybe I can consider it a whole fic and post it on AO3. Until then, please enjoy Katakuri getting flustered by the most beautiful man he’s ever seen under the cut 😊
—
Having been born and raised in the New World, Katakuri hasn’t spent much time in Paradise, or any of the other four seas. He’s certainly made it his business to understand the geography of the rest of the world, and this has served him well in the years since he took stewardship of Totto Land. What the now-defunct World Government once considered a lawless operation is now the largest global exporter of flour and grain. They’d had the infrastructure; once Mama’s appetite was out of the equation, they were well primed to fill a considerable vacuum in world trade.
Not that it had been an entirely seamless transition. Their territories had suffered not just attacks from other pirates and the Navy, but significant flooding as well. Komugi had come out unscathed, but the smaller, low lying islands were not as lucky. Cacao Island took near catastrophic damage, and they lost almost all of their cocoa crop. What survived continues to struggle, and a number of rare strains are lost to them. They may be able to recover or replicate some of them, but the fruition of that process won’t happen in his lifetime.
Still, laying down the groundwork for full recovery is half of his job, and he takes it seriously. Despite the losses, there is some hope thanks to the meticulous record keeping of his brother, Mont-d’Or. Because of that, he’s been able to track down numerous exports and trades over the decades. There’s a particular type of cocoa tree they lost to the flooding, and their records show six of them were purchased and transported out of their territory within the last decade.
The actual receipt was harder to find, but ultimately he found the customer: Dracule Mihawk, located on Kuraigana Island. It’s lucky enough that Hawkeyes still lives there, moreso that he confirmed the trees are intact, and a mercy that he’s agreed to let Katakuri even come look at them. He hadn’t sounded thrilled about the entire affair, but Katakuri thinks that’s just how he normally sounds.
Kuraigana is a gloomy, dark island that fits the general aesthetic and demeanor of Hawkeyes. Katakuri understands the original kingdom here fell to ruin, and Hawkeyes had simply taken up roost. Now the castle grounds are meticulously kept, and the surrounding land is dense pine forests and freshwater lakes. The rest is sprawling farmland, both food and botanicals, tended by a curious army of monkeys.
He’s impressed. It takes a lot of work to achieve this sort of operation. Given the misty, cloudy nature of the island, there’s a lot to take into consideration to get anything to bloom around here.
The cocoa trees are in good company, though, growing in the dappled shade of towering oak trees. They’re mature, but Kakakuri still has to bend to one knee to inspect them. The leaves are vibrant and healthy, and the earth is rich and loomy, perfect for their roots. Hawkeyes, who barely comes up to his knees when he’s standing, is next to him.
“I can pay,” Katakuri says. “Extraction, transport and delivery.”
Mihawk frowns. “I was unaware you wanted the entire tree.”
Katakuri sighs. “We’re not going to get a lot of production out of just six trees. Back home, we can clone and reproduce them. Replenish the strain.”
“I understand that,” Mihawk says. “But they’re not mine to trade away. You’ll have to speak with Perona.”
This surprises Katakuri. He’d assumed everything here was under the purview of Mihawk himself. He’s not familiar with Perona’s name.
They walk back towards the castle. He keeps his pace slow to match Mihawk’s, which gives him time to admire the scenery. Everything about this place has been restored beautifully; cobblestone walkways, brick archways and wrought iron gates and trellises heavy with blooming vines. In the context of the island’s inherent gloom and mist, it makes for a very serene, peaceful landscape.
His pace slows when they pass an adjacent courtyard. Through the stone moon gate is a garden full of every color and variety of hydrangea, every one of them in full bloom. The enormous blossoms create a riot of pastels and whites and greens, woven around statuary and a bubbling water feature. Katakuri stops dead in his tracks when among all that beauty sits an angel.
He isn’t an angel, of course, but Katakuri knows who it is: King the Wildfire, once right hand man to Kaido and a rival to his own position among pirate crews. Katakuri has never seen him unmasked in person. After Kaido’s fall and King’s escape from the World Government, his bounty had been reissued and doubled, if only because the thought of a lunarian on the loose has been an affront to the Navy. His new bounty had been blurry, poorly angled, but obvious enough.
The picture didn’t do him justice at all. He’s stunningly handsome, the picture of masculine beauty even while he just sits there, head bent slightly as he reads from the book in his lap. He’s traded in the studded and spiked leather for jeans and breezy, cream colored shirt that’s open down nearly to his navel. It’s a perfect contrast against his dark skin, same as his white hair, which falls in a long braid over one shoulder. His wings are tucked close, black feathers glossy, nearly iridescent, though the right one is half gone.
King pauses halfway through turning the page of his book and looks up, red eyes landing directly on Katakuri, who immediately loses his nerve. Face blazing as he ducks his chin deeper into his scarf, he hurries to leave, catching up to Mihawk in only a few long strides. He can feel King’s piercing gaze on him until he’s out of his line of sight. His heart is pounding.
Mihawk doesn’t appear to have noticed anything amiss, but he does say: “I assume you recall the rules about fighting here?”
“I have no quarrel with him,” Katakuri says, a little too quickly. Mihawk has misunderstood his staring, which is a relief.
“Perona will be back later tonight. In time for dinner, at least,” Mihawk continues. “You’re welcome to join us.”
He hadn’t wanted to spend more than a day here, but he also hadn’t planned on needing to negotiate with anyone except Mihawk himself.
When he hesitates, Mihawk arches one brow, and says: “Alber will be there.”
Alber. Of course King isn’t his real name. And if that’s his given name, given so freely by Mihawk, what else can be learned about such an enigmatic figure? It’s likely the only chance he’ll ever get. He’s not even thinking about the cocoa trees anymore.
A bit belatedly, he also realizes Mihawk had not misunderstood his staring at all. He feels his face burn hot again. He should have known. Their mastery of Observation Haki might manifest differently, but they weren’t considered the best for nothing.
“If it’s no trouble,” he says, regretting it almost immediately. Agreeing to dinner is the same as eating in front of strangers, something he’s spent most of his life carefully avoiding. He’s not sure how he’ll pull it off without offending the host.
”None whatsoever,” Mihawk says. They stop at the doors. “Feel free to explore the grounds. Don’t mind the ghosts.”
Hawkeyes disappears inside before Katakuri can ask: what ghosts? Then he decides it’s probably a joke, judging by the look of this place. Given free reign, he looks back towards where the courtyard is, frozen to the spot with indecision. Eventually, he heads back towards the docks, to let the crew know they’ll be staying the night, at the very least.
He has no idea if he’ll leave with the trees by this time tomorrow, or any kind of agreement. It should be the first and only thing on his mind.
Instead, as he walks the path down to the docks, shiny cobblestone bordered by blooming rows of lavender, his thoughts circle back to a lunarian surrounded by hydrangeas.
#my post#one piece#fanfic#dracule mihawk#charlotte katakuri#king the wildfire#kataking#how likely is it do you think that perona will give up her cocoa trees? 🤔#and how do you think dinner will go?#Moria will be there#for funsies Crocodile should be visiting#for ultimate chaos Shanks as well#Katakuri thought his family dinners were weird#the goth fam is insane on its own level#also I love a flustered and smitten Katakuri after one glance at King#also really like the idea of post canon Totto Land just being the bread basket of the world#you can topple the existing gov in your rebellion#but you’ve got to be able to govern and feed people in the aftermath#if katakuri’s in charge there’s a way better for stability#but i’m biased bc i love him#anyway thanks for reading!!

The One Piece World Timezones [Fixed]
Okay, so I did a big WHOOPS. I thought the Grand Line is the equator. Someone in the notes pointed out that no, the Grand Line is not the equator and honestly, yeah, my fault for not going a bit deeper into my research.
Here is how the globe is and how the Grand Line goes. The blue thingy is I suspect the actual equator.
The reasons I thought the Grand Line is on the equator is:
1) weather
2) natural occurences
3) map on the One Piece Wiki
Crazy shit happens in the equator in our world.
Here is how the Grand Line is positioned as told by Law.

(source)
Now, let's fix the mistake. (Sighs)
And... ROTATE THE MAP.
Here it is. I sighed many sighs while rotating this and maybe I cried a bit at getting everything 3 hours wrong and then cried some more that Dressrosa & Hawaii aren't in the same timezone bcs goddamn it, that fit, as did Mariejois.
But FINE. I'm doing this for all the Doffy x Reader writers, all the One Piece x Reader writers, all the One Piece fanfic writers, full stop. I REFUSE TO ALLOW MY MISTAKE TO BE A CURSE. I'll also edit the OG post and put this pic there so both posts have the correct one.
Okay, one more time, 100% correct this time:
Paradise:
Reverse Mountain [UTC -1]
Cape Valley [UTC 0]
Cactus Island [UTC 0]
Little Garden [UTC +1]
Drum Island [UTC +2]
Alabasta [UTC +3]
Island where Luffy Kicked Bellamy's Ass Vol 1 Jaya [UTC+4]
Skypiea [UTC +4]
The Arc I Skipped After Seeing It Became Filler Ring Long Island [UTC +5]
Water 7 [UTC +5]
I'm so sorry, Snail 😭
Ennies Lobby [UTC +6]
Florian Triangle [UTC +6]
Sabaody Archipelago [UTC +7]
Amazon Lily [UTC +7]
Impel Down [UTC +8]
Marineford [UTC +8]
Holy Land of Mariejois [UTC+8]
All the thematic representation of it being UTC +12, splash into the water 😭😭😭
Fishman Island [UTC +9]
New World:
New Marineford [UTC -8]
Punk Hazard [UTC -8]
Dressrosa [UTC -7]
Totto Land [UTC -5]
Wano [UTC -4]
Law vs Blackbeard Island [UTC -3]
Elbaf [UTC -3]
Weird that it's Elbaf that's Northeast, since shouldn't Law have gone there as his route? Maybe Kid lied and went there still after Law said Northeast is the quickest path, while Law took a detour onto Winner Island to fight Blackbeard.
Hachinosu (Pirate Island, Blackbeard's HQ) [UTC -3]
Egghead [UTC -3]
Even though Egghead's not shown on the map, Luffy went directly south from Wano, and by the line, the Sunny would have entered the UTC -3 zone.
Lodestar Island [UTC -2]
Calculating Guide:
From East to West
- if it's 17:00 (5 pm) in Marineford (UTC +8) and you want to know what time it is in Dressrosa, this is what you do:
1) (Current time in Marineford) - (UTC time number of Marineford) which is
17 (5pm) - 8 = 9 am (UTC 0)
2) now that you have UTC 0, you put another minus, this one from Dressrosa's UTC, which is UTC -7, so it goes
9 am - 7 = 2 am
So it's 2 am in Dressrosa, while it's 5 pm in Marineford!
From West to East
Say it's 22:00 (10 pm) on Saturday in Dressrosa, what time is it in Holy Land? Here are the steps.
1) (Dressrosa current time) + (Dressrosa's Timezone Number) = time at UTC 0
So that's:
10 pm + 7 = 5 am Sunday (UTC 0)
2) UTC 0 time + Holy Land Time Number
So: 5 am + 8 = 13:00 (1 pm) Sunday
So while it's 10 pm Saturday in Dressrosa and Doflamingo is conducting business with the Paradise part of the Grand Line, in the Holy Land, the ugly Celestials are eating lunch on Sunday or napping bcs they are freeloading cu- (censored) unlike Doflamingo who's actually working!
(looks at the maps of my previous timezone post) Okay. It's fine. I only missed Dressrosa by 3 hours. IT'S FINE.
(it's not fine, I'm crying, it's not FINE, my favourite island and I couldn't even get it right the first time, if Doffy turns me into a toy I deserve it)
I'll go climb the Red Line and jump off it. This is the greatest shame as a scientist. Wrong numbers.
A/N: Of course, if what the pic above said is true, it might as well could be that the original tinezone map I made is semi- correct and the entire territory up until Wano has a timezone from UTC -12 to UTC -9 if it's only the first third of the New World, as those are the "thirds" of the west timezones. I don't read the manga, but I'm caught up with the anime and if the manga does reveal a map, actual map like that curved one in the picture with Law or Oda finally makes one, I give the manga readers full permission to send it to me in an ask and I will update the posts again. For now, this is the most "official" map we have, and the most recent one. Also, the Grand Line being in the shape of a rollercoaster is fitting, haha.

Please please please!! Sanji x reader request during whole cake island where sanji and reader were already a thing prior to the event and how torn up sanji is over it. Especially if they still hadn't said I love you yet and sanji is realizing that yes he loves reader and wants to marry them but he can't cause he wants to protect them and everyone. Reader having a similar realization/crying to the crew about it and Luffy going, nope this is happening I'm a captain and I'm marrying you two (let's pretend he learned captains can marry people from shanks but he still doesn't know what marriage is just that he can do this so he wants to do it)
Yours To Love | Sanji x Reader
Fandom: One Piece
Pairing: Vinsmoke Sanji x GN! Reader
Word Count: 2.9k
Genre/Tags: Angst, Fluff, Happy Ending, Love Confession, Spoilers for Wholecake Island arc
A/n: I hope I'm not too late anon!! I think it's been a week or so since you sent this, so I hope you get to see this <3 I really sat down and wrote this in one sitting like a possessed person hahahah~ Thank you for the request and I hope this is to your liking (*´ω`*) I tweaked your request very very minorly but I enjoyed writing it a lot!
Also available on ao3!
Seeing Sanji again was like seeing the sun after weeks and weeks of never-ending rain.
It hadn't been more than a week or two since you had separated in Dressrosa but being a part of the strawhat crew meant you could never catch a break for too long. When you heard what Sanji had done from Nami and the others, a small part of you hurt that maybe, just maybe, you weren't enough for Sanji.
The next moment you had discarded the thought completely and felt horrible for even thinking that way about Sanji. You knew he would never lie to you. You knew, more than anyone on the crew, just how much he truly enjoyed being a part of the crew. Your insecurity over how Sanji and you hadn't yet spoken of love made no difference to the fact that Sanji would never choose to leave the crew.
Maybe he didn't love you back but he loved the crew. So him choosing to go to the tea party where he would be married off was a sign that he must believe either that he can: (a) handle it by himself and make it back no problem, or (b) the situation was dangerous and he wanted to take care of it himself in a way that wouldn't harm the crew. You were more inclined towards b, considering this was Big Mom and Germa 66 that were being talked about.
You wanted to go get Sanji back too but the rest of the crew who had fought in Dressrosa was going to Wano and you were probably expected to do the same. But Sanji was still your boyfriend. He was yours, and he was going to get married off to some girl you had never heard of before today, and your heart refused to accept it. You refused to let him go. He was yours to hold, yours to keep and yours to love. You would get him back even if you had to fight Luffy to join them.
Thankfully, you didn't have to fight him at all. When you meekly suggested joining them, your captain had just tilted his head in confusion and said, "Huh? What do you mean? Of course you're coming. I was going to take you along the whole time."
And now half of the crew was here in Totto land, and Luffy had just defeated Cracker and Kingbaum was taking you three to the castle where Sanji was supposed to be. Instead, you had stumbled across Germa 66 midway and after days, you were finally seeing the face of the man you loved so deeply that it hurt.
"We've come to take you back!" Luffy was hanging onto the coach while you and Nami were still on the running Kingbaum and you could make out Sanji's face from a distance. You were smiling so hard upon seeing him look okay. He wasn't hurt. Good. Suddenly, he turned and kicked Luffy off the coach and you gasped.
"Hey!" Nami was equally shocked. "What was that for, Sanji?!"
"Get lost," Sanji said, his face unlike any he had ever shown the crew, "you miserable inferior pirates."
You considered the possibility that it could be a Germa clone. But there was no way they would take a close to the tea party when they already had done the effort of getting the real deal to come there.
"My name is Vinsmoke Sanji and I am a prince of Germa kingdom!"
He had never told you that in the few months of your relationship. You knew there was something he wasn't telling you but you had never pried because you knew that the reason Sanji wasn't mentioning it was probably because it was something that didn't matter. Germa was supposed to be a thing of his past– and it was supposed to stay there for the rest of his life. Except it had come back, like cockroaches are apt to do, and brought a storm into your lives.
You just stood there, listening to Sanji make claims that were like stabs to your heart continuously. For your situation, your mind felt thunderously calm. You were noting the laughter of his ‘brothers’ in the back, the way Sanji was staring with steely eyes at Luffy and hadn't met your eyes even once, the rigid muscles of his face as he spoke about how he would be getting married to Big Mom's beautiful daughter.
Maybe someone would say you are in denial, but you refused to believe it. Sanji was spouting a load of bullshit and it was making laughter bubble up in your throat. You only kept it down because this wasn't the time or place for it. The Sanji you knew would never say these words, unless he believed it was the only way he could keep you all safe.
"Don't get involved! I'll drive him off."
You couldn't say a word as you watched Sanji and Luffy start fighting. You had never thought you would see this one day. Your heart was hurting and your mind was a huge mess of thoughts but all you could focus on was how much Sanji must be hurting.
He must be wanting to come back home to the Sunny with you. He had told you in the dark covers of night when you two had made love, that there was no place more appropriate than with the crew that he thought of when he thought of the word ‘home’. The boy who had said that to you could never say these words and mean them. He would only say it if it meant protecting his home and his crew.
You watched as Luffy didn't hit back even once and kept taking hit after hit. Silent tears were already streaming down your face from watching Sanji's emotional hurt and Luffy's physical one. You wished this was a nightmare.
When Sanji knocked out Luffy, you finally exhaled and slowly walked over to him. Nami had already gotten past you and slapped him in the face, saying goodbye to him. You stared at Sanji when you were close enough. His head that had turned from the impact of Nami's slap didn't turn to look at yours, as if you were invisible. You let out a shaky exhale and smiled weakly at him.
"I guess," you swallowed as you placed a gentle hand on the cheek Nami was slapped and watched him flinch just slightly under your touch, "even if I said ‘Come back home with me, Sanji’, you wouldn't change your mind, huh?"
He still wouldn't look at you and he didn't respond, but his hand came up to rest over yours. He gave it a gentle squeeze, the way he always did when he would apologise to you for anything. You told your aching heart that it was fine. This wouldn't be the last time you see Sanji.
"This is farewell then," you said quietly, just low enough for only him to hear as your hand slipped away. "I hope you are happy wherever you are. Because if you were doing this for us, then you should know that we'll never be complete without you. And, foolish as I am, I won't be happy without you."
You turned away without looking at him and instead walked back to Luffy and Nami, your eyes threatening to spill tears you did not wish him to see. If this was truly the last time you would see Sanji, you wanted his last memory of you to be of you smiling at him.
You heard Sanji get back up and the carriage drawing away. Luffy got up and started shouting again. Your lips quivered, your back to the road as you looked at your captain. "You can kick me all you want, but you're the one feeling the pain!"
For all his idiocy and no brain cell moments, you knew how well Luffy knew all his crewmates. He may not show it most days, but he understood you all the best. You watched him scream some more, crying harder and harder until he ended with, "Without you, I can't become the pirate king!!"
They were gone after that and in the silence, you could finally feel the flood of thoughts wash over you once again, one thought the most prominent of all. You truly loved Sanji. You had never told him but you loved every inch of him, more than you had ever realised until this moment, when your heart was afraid that it would never be able to tell Sanji this.
"I don't know what I should do," you mumbled, covering your face in your hands. You could feel Nami's comforting arms around your shoulders. "I love him. I love that idiot. Who cares if he's a prince, a beggar or even a Marine?! No matter what he is, in every universe, I would still fall in love with him. I love him so much and I have to stand and watch him marry someone else, all while I keep thinking that it should be me. I want to be the one next to him on the altar and I've, I've lost my chance to tell him."
"No, you haven't," Luffy said firmly from where he was lying. Your tears were starting to dry up and you turned to look at your captain. His face was determined. "Sanji will come. And you will marry him."
"How are we gonna do that, huh?" You chuckled wetly as you settled down next to Luffy.
"We'll get him back and you'll ask him to marry you," Luffy said simply, "and then he will say yes and then, I will marry you two off."
"You'll be our officiant, Luffy?" You giggled. You didn't know what it was about him, but Luffy could make you believe in the most impossible of things. There was already a big part of you that felt at peace from his words. It would work out somehow. If it's Luffy, then anything is possible.
"I heard of it from two of Shanks' crewmates as a kid," he said, giving you a wide grin. "I didn't think I'd ever need to do it but I've looked into it ever since you two started dating. It was getting a little boring waiting for you two though. I was going to ask you two to marry if you took any longer."
"Oh god," you wheezed, feeling insane for laughing at this moment. "That would have been hilarious. A crazy story to tell if someone asked us ‘who proposed’ and we would have to answer ‘Luffy’!"
Your words were cut off by the arrival of clouds from Big Mom's rage. It was time for you to get Sanji back.
•
Pudding's words should hurt somewhere, Sanji thought to himself absent-mindedly from where he was hiding. He had brought the flowers and he had tried to convince himself that his marriage with Pudding could make him happy and it would keep the crew safe. But, she didn't love him the way you did. She could be the kindest, nicest person in the whole world, but she wasn't you.
You, who had seen him through his worst, who had personally tended to his wounds both physical and emotional, who had looked like a heavenly being under him, who had smiled at him despite his secrets, who understood him on such a fundamental level– you were the apple of his eye, the love of his life.
Pudding's words should have hurt but they didn't because he knew that her opinion of him had no impact on your opinion of him. And even if the whole world hated him, you never would. Sanji had thought that this would be where you draw the line. That you would finally get fed up with him and leave. No one even stayed with him in the first place and you had done it for so long that he was afraid you would leave. What he had done at this point would have been enough for anyone else to get angry and slap him.
And yet, when he had seen you there, he knew he couldn't look into your eyes. One look and his resolve would crumble. Because there was no mistaking what he felt towards you whenever he looked into your eyes that seemed to hold the whole world. He truly loved you from the bottom of his heart. There was no one else in this world who he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
It had to be you. It could only be you.
And yet, he didn't have much of a choice in this whole matter, did he? Sanji just walked away, thinking and thinking about what he should do.
About how he could get back home to you.
•
When all was said and done and all of you were back on the Sunny, making your way to Wano, Luffy just placed a hand on your shoulder and said with his most serious face, "You better do it fast or I will do it on your behalf."
"Shut up," you weakly punched him in the shoulder and rolled your eyes– but your heart was happy. Neither you nor Sanji had talked about anything the whole time you were escaping. You had just hugged him silently and he had done the same; you knew there would be time to talk later. And that time was now. "Sanji?"
"Hm?" Sanji looked up from where he was cooking in the kitchen. After hearing the mess the crew had made with cooking, he had slipped back into his role as always. The sight of him chopping vegetables on the kitchen counter of the Thousand Sunny made your heart warm up. "Sweethea–(y/n)."
He switched from the endearing term to your name, looking nervous. He was probably thinking about how he didn't deserve to call you that anymore, huh?
"Am I no longer your sweetheart?" You asked teasingly as you crossed over to stand across the counter from him. He looked at you, scared yet hopeful. "Did you change your mind about me after seeing, ah, Pudding, wasn't it?"
"No, my love!" He cried out, hands shooting upwards to take you into his arms but he stopped just in time. He didn't know if you still wanted him to touch you. Somehow, it felt like the two of you from all those months back, when you hadn't yet started dating. "This whole time… I couldn't think of anything but how I have wronged you the most out of everyone. I do not feel worthy to be on the receiving end of your love."
"Shouldn't I get to decide that?" You retorted, leaning over the counter. You grabbed him by the collar and pulled him close. It had been too long since you had kissed your golden boy. "If you're the one I love and if you're the one my heart has decided it wants to marry, then you're already worthy, silly boy. You aren't a man until you realise that you're worthy of all the love in this world."
You ended up saying it all in a teasing manner but you could see the shock in his eyes at your words. The silence stretched over the kitchen awkwardly and your smile wavered for a second.
"You better say yes," you huffed to yourself, "because I don't think Luffy made a plan for you refusing my proposal."
Sanji was confused for all of one second before he was nodding, gently pushing aside the vegetables he was cutting so he could slide over the top of the counter to you. He cradled your face in his hands, holding you reverently as he placed kisses all over your face. You flushed under the attention, feeling home at last.
"This feels too much like a dream," he admitted, knocking his forehead on yours. "That you would still want me, that you would still love me… Despite all my mistakes, in spite of how I've wronged you, you're still here."
"I love you with all my heart," you admitted to him. "I love you for who you are Sanji, flaws and all. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. If, if you happen to feel the same…"
"Don't be silly," he interrupted you, so unlike himself. "If I shouldn't doubt my worth, you shouldn't doubt my love either. I may not have ever said it before this, but I truly do love you so much."
Sanji pulled you into a kiss and you let him, your arms tightening around his waist. You had been so wrong back then. You had been scared that that would be the last time you're seeing him but right now, you knew that this was the start of seeing Sanji every day for the rest of your lives.
"C'mon then," you giggled after the two of you had made out for a while. "Gotta tell Luffy."
"Why?" Sanji was baffled. "What's Luffy got to do with any of this?"
"Hey now, our captain kindly offered to marry the two of us off, you know."
"He what?!"
"He was also ready to propose on my behalf. You better be happy I beat him to it."
"I don't even know what to say."
"Just let me do the talking, how about that?"
"But of course, sweetheart! ♡"

one piece community, it's time to come together and ask an important question
i'm rewatching wci, blame this poll on that. i'm personally going with team she's a homophobe, but idk maybe if the political connection is good enough she's having katakuri marry steve at the earliest convenience

I'm watching the Whole Cake Island arc and can't get over how Big Mom purposely gave the desserts personality & feelings so that she can eat them alive. Then I learned her backstory and now I'm thinking her first tea party gave her a preference for eating things that can scream and wriggle. I thought Dressrosa was disturbing but Whole Cake takes the cake.

The Sheeple Theory: Cloning Experiments in One Piece

The One Piece world is no stranger to science, experimentation, and genetic engineering, as evidenced by the likes of Vegapunk, Judge, and Caesar Clown. One particularly intriguing corner of this lore involves a recurring theme of sheep-like humans. These characters, scattered across the series, may hint at a deeper connection to the shadowy history of cloning technology in One Piece. This is the foundation of what I call the Sheeple Theory.
The Observations: Sheep-Like Humans in One Piece
Five notable characters in the series exhibit sheep-like traits:
Merry the Butler: Kaya's loyal caretaker in Syrup Village has distinctly sheep-like horns.
Caesar Clown: The mad scientist from Punk Hazard is identified by Sanji as "sheep-like," largely due to his prominent horns, though no further explanation is given.
Bankuro: A lesser-known member of Roger’s crew with a sheep-like appearance.
Toto Land Resident: A background character in Big Mom’s Totto Land also bears sheep-like features.
Atlas: One of Vegapunk’s satellites, resembling a human with sheep-like traits. Notably, someone on Reddit mentioned her design may reference Dolly, the first cloned sheep in real-world history.
Key Distinctions: Sheeple vs. Other Hybrids
These sheep-like humans differ from minks, zoan Devil Fruit users, or SMILE fruit mutants in critical ways:
Minks: Minks are anthropomorphic animals with distinct fur, features, and cultural identities, far more animalistic than these “sheeple.”
Zoan and SMILE Users: These transformations are the result of consuming Devil Fruits or artificial SMILE fruits. Their traits appear temporary or artificially induced, not innate.
Caesar’s minions: Some are ram-like, but they were created by Law very recently.
Instead, these sheep-like traits seem to be a subtle but permanent part of their genetic makeup, closer to something engineered.
The MADS Connection: Early Cloning Experiments
This theory suggests that the sheep-like individuals seen in various contexts might have been among the earliest human clones, with sheep DNA spliced into their genetic code due to the relative ease of cloning sheep. The rationale behind this is the relative ease of cloning sheep, as evidenced by early scientific experiments such as the creation of Dolly, the first cloned sheep. A possible key figure in this early stage of cloning technology is Dr. Vegapunk.
When Caesar was born, Vegapunk was only 10 years old. This timeline raises interesting questions: Was Vegapunk a child prodigy whose intellect was enhanced by his devil fruit powers, or did he join the cloning project at a later stage? Regardless, it is clear that over time, Vegapunk mastered and refined cloning technology. This knowledge was likely shared with Judge during their time together in MADS, and Vegapunk later used it to create his satellites, including Atlas, who might be a tribute to those early cloning experiments.
The connection between the MADS scientists—Vegapunk, Judge, Caesar, and Queen—and cloning technology runs deep, as they collectively spearheaded advancements in biology and genetic engineering.
Supporting Points:
Judge’s Expertise in Cloning: Judge's successful development of cloning technology, as seen in the creation of Germa 66's clone army, likely stems from the groundwork laid during his collaboration with the other MADS scientists. His achievements hint at a shared foundation of cloning knowledge developed during that era.
Vegapunk’s Satellites and Cloning Inspiration: Vegapunk’s satellites, particularly Atlas, might pay homage to Dolly, drawing a symbolic connection to the first cloned sheep. This idea supports the notion that Vegapunk’s cloning techniques were inspired by or evolved from the early sheep-human hybrid experiments.
Caesar Clown: The Prototype Clone
Among the sheep-like characters, Caesar Clown stands out as the most human-appearing and influential. This raises the possibility that he might have been an early and highly refined clone. Caesar’s eventual partnership with Vegapunk and his role in the Punk Hazard experiments suggest a mentor-mentee relationship, rooted in their shared origin. Perhaps Vegapunk saw potential in Caesar as the "most perfect clone" of his time and groomed him into the scientist he would later become.
Because Vegapunk is a nice guy, he possibly let the other clones go freeto live their lives or helped them escape, and they ended up scattered all around the world of One Piece.
The Legacy of Cloning
Vegapunk’s creation of Atlas and the other satellites solidifies the idea of cloning's continued legacy in the One Piece world. As one of Vegapunk's satellites, Atlas could symbolize a perfected culmination of cloning technology. The homage to Dolly in her design suggests that Vegapunk may still respect and acknowledge the earlier, flawed cloning experiments—possibly a subtle nod to Caesar, Merry, and others.

The Devil's Cake
I have just finished One Piece's Whole Cake Island Arc, I loved it and I wanna analyze its major themes and ideas. Still, keep in mind I have only read this one arc of the series, so I won't be able to connect what happens in this storyline with everything else going on. In any case, here come my thoughts!
As @hamliet highlights in her meta, One Piece is a story, which follows the Fool's Journey:
What is the Fool’s Journey? It’s the “Major Arcana” of the tarot deck, consisting of 22 cards that follow a particular order and tell a story that is supposed to represent a journey through life. (from hamliet's meta)
In particular, the Whole Cake Island Arc alludes to the 15th card, the Devil:
The Devil is not an evil, sinister figure residing outside of us. He is the knot of ignorance and hopelessness lodged within each of us at some level. The seductive attractions of the material bind us so compellingly that we often do not even realize our slavery to them. We live in a limited range of experience, unaware of the glorious world that is our true heritage. The couple on Card 15 are chained, but acquiescent. They could so easily free themselves, but they do not even apprehend their bondage. They look like the Lovers, but are unaware that their love is circumscribed within a narrow range. The price of this ignorance is an inner core of despair. (Meaning of the Devil from learntarot.com)
In other words:
The Devil represents ignorance, raw uncontrolled instincts and slavery to the material world. All of these ideas are explored in the arc. In particular, they are embodied by Big Mom.
The card has three characters on it. The Devil itself (usually an ermaphrodite) and the chained lovers (usually a man and a woman). Similarly, the Whole Cake Island Arc's premise is that Big Mom (the devil) forces Sanji and Pudding (the lovers) into a wedding against their will. Moreover, the arc has masculinity and femininity as secondary themes.
Let's go deeper.
BIG MOM, THE DEVIL
Big Mom is the Devil, as her introductory song Bloody Party makes clear:
Let's all eat a tasty cake! It's the sweetest deal to make! The tea party from hell! Is it strawberry jam? (Or someone's blood?) Either one is fine! If you're invited, you have to come! A demonic sacrifice for our sweet pastime! This is... our beloved... land of dreams! A country where all peoples come together! It's... Totto Land!
She tricks people with the sweetest of deals, but eventually traps and consumes them. This is shown both when it comes to Sanji's plotline and to the way she manages her kingdom:
She makes Sanji and his family believe she is gonna give them what they want. She is letting the Straw Hats leave. She is supporting Germa 66 in their quest to get their land back. However, it is soon revealed she has no intention of keeping either promise.
She offers her subjects peace and acceptance and welcomes them into a land of dreams. After all, Totto Land is gorgeous: it has many races living happily together, it is made of sweets and it is so full of life even inanimate things get a soul! Isn't Big Mom kind of like a God, who grants life? Except she isn't really giving life to objects, but rather she is objectifying life:
The condition to stay in Totto Land is for people to give up their life-span. As a matter of fact Big Mom's Soul Soul Fruit lets her steal souls, which is precisely what the Devil does. Not only that, but she masks her Hell as Heaven and baits people with sweetness, which is why her territory has a food motif. She seems nice, until you realize you can't really leave her:
If you stay, you have to give up a part of your life. If you wanna leave, you have to die. There is no way out. At least until one realizes what's really keeping people prisoners of Big Mom is their own minds. Just like the lovers in the card could easily free themselves, leaving Big Mom isn't impossible:
All you have to do is not to fear the Devil and its threats disappear. Similarly, Big Mom is a big fat lie herself: her dream, her country, her family and her power are all fake.
SANJI AND PUDDING, THE CHAINED LOVERS
Sanji and Pudding are the chained lovers:
Greedy Mama's false plot was both devious and smart! Matching fairy tale prince and princess fair, in a sham that was meant to keep them apart.
In particular, they are forced to play Prince and Princess in two different ways.
On the one hand Sanji and Pudding are chained together against their will in a fake wedding. They are the handsome prince and the beautiful princess getting married on top of a giant cake:
They are not even the protagonists of their own marriage, but merely cake toppings in Big Mom's tea party.
On the other hand Sanji and Pudding are prisoners of their families, which push gender roles on them:
Germa 66 is a patriarchy, which values strength and violence. Its ruler Judge represses his emotions and wants his children to do the same. They must be emotionless killing machines. As a result, Sanji is expected to embody hyper-masculinity and to hide all his feminine traits, like his kindness and even his passion for cooking. After all, he is Germa 66's Prince.
Totto Land is a matriarchy, which values superficial harmony and beauty. Its queen Big Mom gets dangerous when upset and is very emotional. So, everybody has to conform to her wishes. As a result, Pudding is expected to embody hyper-femininity. She must be Big Mom's doll, so she masks her ugliest parts, like her bloodlust (psychological) and her third eye (physical). After all, she is Totto Land's Princess.
So, both Sanji and Pudding are asked to compartmentalize themselves, so they can fit in simplistic boxes for their parents to use. Sanji has to be a super-soldier to win Judge's war, whereas Pudding has to be a seductress to advance Lin Lin's political schemes. They are even both the result of eugenetics. Judge uses a powerful drug to steal his sons' humanity before they are even born. Big Mom instead gets together with a three-eyed, so that she can have a child able to read Poneglyphs.
The two families may seem opposite, but both are abusive and force the kids to repress parts of themselves:
Happiness (Sanji's love for food is symbolically negated by the iron mask).
Sadness (Pudding's tears are symbolically negated by her third eye being covered).
At the same time, Sanji and Pudding's reactions to their abuse are opposite, just like their standings in their families.
Sanji is the scapegoat, as he can't be who Judge wants him to be. He refuses to fit his father's ideal and is punished by the rest of the family because of it. His brothers bully him and his sister is too scared to openly show affection for him. The situation gets so bad he is forced to cut all ties with his family and leave. He is abandoned and cancelled.
Pudding is the golden child, as she is one of Big Mom's favorite kids. She is the perfect good girl and could potentially lead her mother to the One Piece. As a result, she is beloved by her siblings and people. However, she gives up who she is in exchange. She always wears a mask to the point nobody knows the real her. She is trapped and with no autonomy.
The end result for both Prince and Princess is that they have to lie to survive. Sanji hides his origin from his crewmates and in Totto Land he pushes them away to protect them. Pudding instead hides her real self and tricks others to hurt them out of repressed anger. More importantly, Sanji and Pudding are deep down tricking themselves:
They tell themselves they are happy as prisoners, but that’s false. Eventually the truth comes to the surface:
Pudding finds out the Straw Hats know Lola. This has her remember something painful, which leads her to vent some of her frustration. This is why she reveals her true colors to both Reiju and the Straw Hats. This lets Sanji and the others discover Big Mom's true plan.
Sanji finds out Pudding hates him and Reiju loves him. He also realizes his family is in danger. In the face of these terrible revelations he stops lying to himself. He runs to where Luffy is and expresses his real feelings:
Just like the lovers on the card, Sanji and Pudding are trapped because of their ignorance, both of the world around them (Sanji) and of who they are inside (Pudding). In general, the whole arc is full of lies in its first act and things only get better once the lovers start unraveling the truth. Still, there is also someone else who helps in this process. A Fool, who is able to draw out people's most genuine selves.
LUFFY'S JOURNEY
Luffy is the Fool, so the protagonist of the journey. He is the individual with infinite potential, who goes through an adventure to grow up and self-actualize. So, the Whole Cake Island arc ties into his development, as he both matures and proves himself different from Big Mom. As a matter of fact our Fool is the opposite of the Devil Queen on multiple levels.
First of all, the two captains' attitudes towards a crew memeber quitting don't match. Big Mom won't let Jinbe leave her, whereas Luffy is ok with Sanji getting married, if this makes him happy.
As the arc goes on, it becomes obvious Big Mom embodies peace and conformity, while Luffy represents freedom and individuality:
Big Mom wants a place where everyone can eat while at the same eye-level. However, she wants to fulfill this by making everyone big like her. It is others, who must change, not Big Mom herself. Everyone can live in Totto Land, but only by becoming who Big Mom wants. It is "whole", but "individuals" disappear in this totality.
Luffy likes people's individuality and encourages everyone to follow their dreams, even if he might disagree with them. He wants people to grow into the best and most genuine version of themselves. To do so he is ready to fight and enter conflicts.
This difference is expressed through the main motif of the arc, that is food. Big Mom and Luffy both eat a lot and fast throughout the arc:
However, Big Mom does so out of selfishness, while Luffy does so out of selflessness. In particular, Luffy eats and fasts to discover the truth about others:
He eats Cracker's biscuits to unmask his opponent physically.
He promises to fast until Sanji cooks for him to unmask his friend psychologically.
Finally, Luffy eats to better understand himself and grow. This is the point of his fight with Katakuri. This battle happens in the mirror world and Luffy faces off against a better version of himself. This is indicative that the Straw Hat's captain is really conquering a part of himself, so he can evolve. Moreover, throughout their conflict Luffy both:
Eats Katakuri to dispel his power.
Sees Katakuri eat in a relaxed demeanor.
Luffy and Katakuri draw out the best in each other. Katakuri helps Luffy evolve his observation haki. Luffy helps Katakuri accept his real self. By the end of their battle, they both can see better:
Luffy has now a metaphorical better vision of himself and of the kind of future he wants to create (observation haki)
Katakuri can now show his most instinctive and weird part to others (his laughing and eating mouth)
Finally, Luffy proves that the important thing isn't to never touch the ground (not to lose):
But rather, it is to always get back up (to change for the better):
This is something Katakuri himself acknowledges by the end, as he decides not to fall face-down, but rather to have his back touch the ground. Symbolically, he is accepting his imperfection. Just like Luffy does.
This is something Big Mom can't do, as she is an adult stuck into the mentality of a child. She is a person who could never face herself.
A RISKY CAKE
LinLin is the Devil, not only because she lies to others, but also because she herself is trapped in several lies:
She is lied by her parents when they leave her on Carmel's island
She is lied by Carmel about her parents' abandonment when she is welcomed at the orphanage
Finally, Carmel's whole personality is a lie:
Carmel presents herself as a "holy mother", but she is neither "holy", nor a "mother":
Her miracles come from the Soul Soul Fruit's power and her desire of peace is a scam to gain the trust of the giants
Her motherly side is a facade she uses to mold children into soldiers for the World Government
So, Carmel isn't as sweet as her name may imply. She is a fake nun, so she fittingly gives birth to the Devil herself. As a matter of fact LinLin's life is spent in an attempt to emulate Carmel:
She tries to fulfill Carmel's dream of a peaceful world, where everyone is equal
She makes sure to have a big family, so that she can replace the Sheep's House
She calls all her children after food, just like Carmel was named after a dessert
Carmel's dream and family are lies, but they end up defining the Pirate Queen's existence. Even LinLin's anger towards who leaves is a projection of her own abandonment as a child. In her mind, she was left behind twice, so she can't bear for it to happen a third time. The result of this mix of lies and delusions is none other than Big Mom.
She is a child, who never had a mother, so she is now a mother, who isn't a real parent. She is a person who received a lie instead of love, so now she gives fake love.
Big Mom's inability to truly love is shown once again in the motif of food. Let's compare these two scenes:
On the one hand Luffy savors Sanji's bento. The food is soaked with water and covered in dirt, but he still appreciates it. He realizes his cook made everyone's favorite food, so the bento becomes symbolic of Sanji's love for the Straw Hats. It might be ruined, but its material appearance does not change its spiritual meaning. Luffy can see it, so he can enjoy the meal. It is as if by eating it, he is celebrating all his crew members by showing he loves them as wholes, both qualities and flaws. Just like he can forgive Sanji's lies and behavior.
On the other hand Big Mom devours Sanji's cake. Big Mom opens the arc by wishing to eat the wedding cake and she ends it by eating it. The cake is perfect, even better than her wildest dreams. However, Big Mom can't understand the cake is so tasty because Sanji put love in it:
That is because Big Mom herself doesn't understand true love. And maybe she doesn't even want to understand it:
It's sweet, it's milky (Milky) It's very rich and… (Very rich and…) Risky!!
The flavor of the cake is "risky" because love itself can be risky and complicated. To love someone means to let them free. Like Luffy does with his comrades. Like Pudding does with Lola and Sanji. However, Big Mom will never do it because she only enters relationships, where she risks nothing and the other party risks it all. This unbalance is the root of every bond she forges.
This is the meaning behind Bad End Musical. This song is the perfect conclusion for Big Mom's character in the Whole Cake Island arc.
First of all it is a "bad end", but it is a lie. Throughout the song it seems the Strawhats' boat is destroyed, but it is just a ruse and they successfully escape. It is a delusion. A sweet lie Big Mom's army enjoys for a brief instant before they are faced with the hard truth. They lost.
Secondly, it conveys beautifully what "love" and "lies" mean for Big Mom:
1)Love - Throughout the song, Big Mom eating the cake is cruelly juxtaposed to the Straw Hats being attacked repeatedly. As a result, it appears as if Big Mom is eating Luffy and his friends, rather than the cake. This is a metaphor of how Big Mom "loves" others. She eats them. Just like she ate Carmel and the other orphans. She wants to love the world, but she doesn't know how. As a result, she tries to assimilate it in her stomach, so that it becomes a part of her. Still, this isn't real love, it is just consumption. This is why Big Mom is destined to forever be hungry.
2)Lies - At one point, Big Mom is on the verge of having a revelation:
She confusedly realizes that the cake tastes the same as the one her family gave her in the happiest day of her life. That is the taste of true love. Still, this intuition does not lead to any deeper self-reflection. As a matter of fact, to do so, LinLin should admit what she did, while blinded by hunger. And she can't. She can never know she killed her loved ones. Just like she can never aknowledge the destruction she brings, while affected by her hunger pangs. Instead of this painful reality, she chooses a happy illusion:
That's why the musical ends with the juxtaposition of the ideal world LinLin dreams of creating with the cruel reality she in fact made:
A deal with the devil Makes Totto Land Serene Here we're all a family Thanks to our loving queen Big Mom!
This reality is the result of a pact with the Devil. A pact with ignorance, which does not let people mature. Big Mom is still a kid deep down and her children can never develop their own individuality, as they are stuck in their mother's shadow forever. Everyone is trapped and unable to evolve. The Queen who dreams of a Kingdom of giants ironically prevents her subjects from growing.
END ROLLS - COOKING AND EATING
The final chapter of the Whole Cake Island Arc is called End Roll, which fits Big Mom's musical motif. After the big finale, the curtains close, with a last song playing. The song is Soul Pocus, which once again highlights Big Mom's satanic symbolism:
Soul Pocus, Soul Pocus, Such self-centered words. When tempted by the scent, of that sweet cake slice. The first step is to ask about, the nature of its price. For this is not the good kind of surprise. Will you suffer her trick or hand over your treats? Sweets can be so very bad for the soul. Soul Pocus, our Mama so material. Will it be years off your life? Or your life itself? Soul Pocus, the song of our Queen. (Life or dead?)
At the same time, the chapter itself juxtaposes Big Mom with our true lovers.
1)Big Mom stays a prisoner of her own delusions. She sees herself as a kind and loving queen, but is really an abusive monster. Pudding is instead able to finally face herself.
When we meet her, Pudding is on the verge of turning out like her mother:
She is a manipulator, just like Big Mom. Her mother manipulates souls (hearts), whereas Pudding manipulates memories (minds).
She lies to herself to the point she has divided her whole personality into two distinctive sides. A kind and cute persona and a cruel and rude hidden self.
So, Pudding is the Devil's apprentice. She is on the path of becoming a liar, who lives in a lie. However, thanks to Sanji, she defies this destiny. She shows her real self, who is neither her good girl act nor her villainess mask. Rather she is a lonely girl, who loves deeply, but believes che can't be loved. Not only that, but her final act is to use her power to have Sanji forget their one kiss. She lies to him, but she does so to let him be free.
Ironically, she starts the arc by telling the Straw Hats that if she were to seriously fall in love with Sanji, she could never let him go. However, by the end she reveals herself to be even more selfless than her "good persona". She finds the strength to admit her love for Sanji (the kiss), but she also realizes he needs to be free (the erased memory). And yet, the fact she is finally facing her true emotions is her first step into adulthood and self-actualization. Pudding is not goinG to be stuck as a child, like Big Mom. Rather she is blooming into a beautiful woman.
2) Big Mom and Sanji are opposite. She eats (takes life) out of gluttony. He cooks (gives life) to dispel hunger. At the same time, they are also far more similar than one might initially think.
For example, both of them are abandoned and risk to die of starvation. Still, they both get adopted by a foster parent. However:
Carmel is a fake mother, who never truly educates LinLin nor teaches her how to control her instincts. As a result, she is eventually devoured alive and symbolically becomes LinLin's Devil Fruit herself (after all, LinLin gets the Soul Soul Fruit through consuming Carmel).
Zeff is a real father, who both takes care of Sanji and educates him. He eats his own leg, so that Sanji can survive. He teaches his son to never hurt a woman, so that he can become a true man. He is Sanji's father and his mentor, the one who made Sanji the exceptional cook he is today.
In other words, LinLin is both an unloved child and an unloving mother. Sanji and Zeff are instead a loving son and a loving father. This is why their bond is really at the heart of the whole arc. Zeff might not appear, but his presence is strongly felt:
The threat to kill Zeff is the reason why Sanji steps into Big Mom's territory to begin with.
Zeff's teachings are the reason why Sanji chooses to save his family, despite the pain they gave him. He wants to be a son Zeff can be proud of.
Finally, Zeff closes the arc together with Sanji, as they both serve food to hungry people. Both friends and foes. After all, everyone deserves to eat, everyone deserves to live, everyone deserves to be loved. Even the Devil herself:

Fandom(s): One Piece Rating: E Chapter(s): 1/1 Ship(s): Sanji/Caesar Clown Summary: What if Law had used his powers on Caesar's junk instead of his heart? And what if Caesar was horny on his way to Whole Cake Island? This is not a serious fic.
Note(s): I'm sorry this idea would not leave me. Originally I was going to make this Law/Caesar, but then I thought about how Sanji and Caesar were sharing a room on Bege's ship on the way to Totto Land and I knew I had to take this opportunity to FINALLY write some vinclown. I'm sorry it has to be this way.

the last of my one piece reposts and one of two i'm doing today since i'm almost done with the valentine's event. this one had to come over, i just adore pudding. so i decided to bring her over to this account too since i was also really proud of how this one turned out

The tears won’t stop.
“Come on,” you sigh indignantly at the display. It hadn’t been too long since you’d chased away her tormentors and yet she’d still been crying as if they were there. “Stop crying! They’re gone now!” Your words do little to sway the shorter girl in the floral purple dress. She only sobs harder, if anything, much to your chagrin. “Hey!”
“Sor-sorry,” the girl hiccups, tiny hands clinging onto the ends of her dress tightly. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” her shoulders shake as apologies fall from her lips like honey.
Another sigh fall from your lips and you feel guilt tickling your skin, just underneath the surface. “Don’t say sorry,” you murmur, hands clumsily wiping at her eyes.
All three of them.
“Hey, what are you guys doing?! Knock it off,” you’d shouted at the gaggle of boys tormenting a girl with scissors in hand moments prior.
“Why should I?” Berus sneered in return, yanking the brunette around to put her face on display. She’d been crying then too, her three eyes wide with fear as she begged repeatedly ‘Don’t do it!’ “She’s just some ugly monster! See?!”
The next thing Berus had seen was your fist making contact with his eye. The day had been saved, no hair had been cut. No big deal. The weeping child had yet to catch the memo she no longer had any reason to cry, however.
“Those guys are the last people who should be calling anybody ugly,” you click your tongue in annoyance, more at them than the girl in front of you. “Don’t listen to what a bunch of ugly turds like Berus and his goons say. Who cares if you have three eyes, it’s cool.”
There’s a quiet that falls between you both, save for the girl’s continuous hiccuping and sniffling. The tears don’t stop, so you carry on with you ministrations of wiping the trails away even as they build up once more. The tears from her third eye cascade down her forehead and over the bridge of her nose. Three brown eyes wetly look at you in disbelief as the strange girl asks weakly, “it isn’t creepy?” She’s earnest in how she asks you, confused and unsure.
“What’s supposed to be creepy about it,” you query in return. “It’s cool,” you nod firmly, leaving no room for further doubts. At those words, the tears only increase and the girl begins to shake. You bite your tongue in spite of your urge to snap once more. “You have to be gentle sometimes, dear,” your mother told you not so long ago. “Not every kid is as tough as you. Some of them are sensitive.” You’ve gotta be gentle, gentle.
With that reminder you are able to say, “they’re only picking on you because you’re crying so much. Just punch them next time,” it dawns on you that had the girl been strong enough to defend herself in the first place, she wouldn’t have been in the situation to begin with. “Or just find me,” you introduce yourself finally. “What’s your name, kid?”
“Pudding,” you have a name for the weeping girl with pigtails at last.
“Well, Pudding,” you place your hands on your hips, chest puffed as high as it can go. “The next time those punks start up again, just come running for me. I’ll just kick their asses all over again.”
ー
It’s cotton candy snow that always greets you first when you return to Totto Land.
It’s Mama that greets you second.
The snow is preferable company, falling from pastel clouds in various colors. That’s when you know you’ve truthfully begun your journey home. It’s a marvel every time you see it, as if softly entering a dream. A dream that sours when you greet Mama, delivering to her the hundreds upon hundreds of sweets she demands from the far off countries she’s claimed as part of her territory.
You can’t tell if at this point you feel pity or some form of sick amusement seeing the panicked hustle every time they realize the Big Mom Pirates have once again return to collect. Perhaps it’s a mix of both. You spare little time in pondering your emotions as Mama laughs gleefully at the haul.
Tamago, eager as ever to present himself as Big Mom’s gentile knight, handles the talking. Ironic when the lot of you are pirates only safe from capture as long as you bear Mama’s jolly roger. “It always carries on without a hitch,” he only further prostrates himself as he regales her with recount after recount of how Stormalong Harbor is faring.
“Good, good,” Mama swoons, Homies chanting gleefully at beside her. “And how are things at Punk Hazard? Is Caesar making any progress?”
Yes, Caesar, the clown of a scientist Mama hired all for the purpose of turning regular humans like yourself into giants. Passing by Punk Hazard, it had only been natural you’d agreed to check on the progress. The children that had been there longest had certainly been larger than those who’d only recently arrived. Ridiculous as his laugh was, he seemingly knew his stuff.
“He’s making progress,” you relent with a nod as Mama gorges herself. “He’s definitely the best scientist we’ve hired,” you relay everything you remember.
“Mammamama,” she laughs, eyes a familiar shade brown twinkling as the joyous sound rumbles throughout the room. “That’s wonderful news,” she claps her bejeweled hands, practically ready to hop on her feet and dance. “My dream,” she whispers, a million miles away. “My dream,” she whispers as if singing a song. “Finally there’s someone who will make it come true. A land where one day all races can sit together at the same table, eye to eye…”
Wretch.
Wretch.
“Freak! Monster!”
You fight the urge to grimace as you hear your captain relay her dream as she’s done a thousand times before. What good is a dream like that when it comes from her? All you hear are the delusional falsehoods of a woman with breeding kink.
How long does the meeting last?
It’s always too long for your liking even at its briefest and can never finish soon enough.
“I know you live on Cacao Island but you can always go back tomorrow, you know,” Rita, a newer member of the crew and a member of the Longneck Tribe, queries when you are all now free to spend your time as you choose. You won’t pretend to not understand the appeal of piracy, but you still disparage her for choosing your captain to follow. She thought only of adventure and her eyes still held the light of someone yet to realize they gambled more than they were truly able to offer. “Baron Tamago said you used to live in Sweets Town before? Why not visit your parents?”
Mama buried my parents under cake salé all because she had a craving for sharlotka five years ago. Rita hadn’t joined your crew at that point in time. You shrug lackadaisically at her prodding, “can’t sleep unless I’m under a roof made out of well-tempered chocolate. ’s just not the same.”
Cacao Island is swathed in fragrant shades of brown, chocolate-coated as far as the eye can see. You hear the misty sounds of giggles on the wind, a tired sigh and melted chocolate accidentally smeared across a plush cheek.
Comfortable sleep can’t come soon enough.
At Rita’s incredulous raise of her eyebrow, Pekoms shoos the newly minted pirate away. “Leave her be,” the lion mink growls in your defense. It isn’t difficult to imagine the man giving you a look of pity. With his bouts of homesickness for his homeland, he empathized with your loss of a home on Whole Cake Island. Your loss of family.
You hope the next time you set for sea, you’re able to pass by Zou. “Call me when it’s time to head out again,” at the sight of your two-fingered salute, Pekoms nods.
It is a relief to put the center island of the archipelago behind you, even if it means sailing all night to return to where your heart truly lies. You swore fealty to Big Mom out of circumstance, not loyalty. There is seldom a member of the Charlotte Family you dare call 'friend’.
Praline with her sharp-tooth grin and sunny freckles is a riot when you talk.
You appreciate Chiffon’s kind yet unrelenting strength although you rarely have time to chat with her governing Funwari Island.
The captain of your crew does little to generate even a fraction of those amiable feelings you have towards her.
Anchored just shy of the frozen ocean of juice to avoid the colony of ferocious ants that skulk its sugary borders feels reminiscent of your relationship with the yonko. You’ll never go beyond what is necessary to maintain your status among her crew. That’s the best way to handle a woman who isn’t above killing her own children. Chiffon’s suffered enough at her hand just for looking like her mother’s least preferred child.
With that thought you recall the 23rd daughter, Lola. You adored her growing up with her bubblegum pink hair and her hugs as soft as her cheerful disposition.
“So you’re the best friend I’ve heard so much about,” she beamed the day you met her. Hugged you sweetly as if you’d known her your entire life. “Pudding said you’re her hero! Keep looking after her, okay?”
Lola left Totto Land and never looked back.
You wonder where she is now; if life is treating her kindly. Maybe she’s finally found that husband of hers, your lips curl upwards at the thought. He’s a lucky one. There’d be no greater middle finger to the yonko you serve than Lola living her best life, peacefully and freely.
You lay uncomfortably against the hull of your small ship, legs propped against the stern as you stare up at the cloudless sky. You yearn for skies covered in cotton candy, your inner child stirring. It’s a shame the cotton candy snow of Totto Land is reserved only for the outskirts of the country, a sign to warn those where they’ve entered.
A land of sweets at a delusional cost.
She’s never really had a chance to see them. Pudding’s never had the opportunity to leave the country. You do your best to picture how’d she look if she were able. How her eyes would light up and how she’d collect the pillowy drops in her hands.
“Keep looking after her, okay?”
You close your eyes, humming Bink’s Sake and tapping your foot to the rhythm. You were Pudding’s hero, after all. (That is how she referred to you, anyway. Chocolate brown eyes warm as she introduced you to her favorite sister. You were the one who lit up her entire world. That’s what Pudding kept saying, at least.) It made sense for her elder sister to make such a request.
Stars willing, you’ll keep your promise to Lola for many years to come.
It’s a promise that makes waiting until nearly noon the next for the ocean of juice to thaw and a few more hours sailing through the neighboring islands in the archipelago worth it.
You especially feel that way now setting foot on Cacao Island’s soil, breathing in the fresh scent of chocolate in the air like perfume. Home sweet home, the last steps of the journey. The chocopolice are on the prowl for any cases of snackalism to report. There’s a child eating their chocolate bow tie, much to the chagrin of their father. All are welcomed sights as you make a precautionary pitstop at the island’s most popular café.
You are greeted reverently by a waitress, all due to your station, “welcome back, ma'am! I hope the outside world wasn’t too difficult for you!”
“It’s never anything too difficult,” you nod in return, eyes scanning the bustling Caramel Café’s interior. “Our honorary Minister of Chocolate wouldn’t happen to be in right now, would she? I wanted to make a report before I settled in.”
The waitress nods, all too happy, “Miss Pudding is in the kitchen right now, but I can go get her right now!”
“I don’t mind waiting, if necessary,” things were busy in the establishment as always. “Tell her I’ll be waiting for at her preferred spot for meetings. I don’t want to be much of a distraction.”
I’ll be waiting outside of the house.
You hear the excited call of your name and your shoulders relax, turning to greet Charlotte Pudding in the flesh. Nitro and Rabiyan are nowhere to be seen, absolutely perfect. “It’s a pleasure seeing you again, Minister.”
“I told you already,” Pudding performs her role as your crewmate seamlessly. If you hadn’t known her so well, you might have been fooled into thinking there is nothing between the two of you. “I’m not suitable enough for that job. And you don’t have to always be so formal. You’re just telling me about developing chocolatier techniques you’ve come across.”
You chuckle as she fiddles with her lock and key, “I’m merely voicing the popular opinion of the people.”
Pudding sighs, unsurprised, “there you go saying those ridiculous words again.” The door opens without a hitch. “Come inside, I’ll make you some tea!”
You enter Pudding’s home ー your home ー and the door shuts with a resound lock.
You’re barely able to turn around before a warm body hurdles into yours, arms wrapping tightly around your torso. “Welcome home,” small hands dig into your back. It’s been too long since you were on Cacao Island last.
“It’s good to be back,” you pull Pudding into you even further hugging her shoulders. “But how am I supposed to feel welcomed home if only two-thirds of you are looking at me,” you snort, chuckling as you move Pudding’s bangs aside to reveal the last of the ocular trio. Your mind wanders to thoughts of them lighting up, Pudding twirling in awe at sugary snow dancing in the air. “Girls with pretty eyes are supposed to show them off.”
The brunette avoids your gaze bashfully and you have to stop her from moving her bangs back in place. “Like you said, that’s for girls with pretty eyes.”
“And here you are with the prettiest eyes in the archipelago and you’re covering them up.”
“I’m sure you’ve seen girls with prettier eyes outside of it,” Pudding grumbles, cheeks the color of strawberry jam. “You’ve been a weirdo since we were kids.”
You shake your head, smug and assured, “not at all. And I’ve never been weird. I was a rough rider,” there’s a beat of silence before you both are sharing a laugh. It’s good being home, you lean to brush your lips against your girlfriend’s. It’s no surprise her lip balm tastes like chocolate. “That’s nice,” you whisper, pressing one, two, three kisses on her third eyelid just to prove a point.
She doesn’t have to believe you, you tell yourself. You’ll believe it enough for the both of you. You being the only person to believe it isn’t enough to undo the damage caused by those in Pudding’s life. It’s a wide Blue Sea out there, you want to say. You’d believe me if you saw what it’s all like. No one out there comes even close, you can’t bring yourself to say it though. Not when it feels like an empty promise when Pudding has never even sailed on the senior ship of the grand fleet. Leaving this country is a glorified death sentence.
But Lola did it, didn’t she?
What’s really stopping you from whisking Big Mom’s 35th daughter and going somewhere far beyond the borders of Totto Land? Lola left this country with a tiny ship and a rose-hued dream; why can’t you?
You’re a pirate; someone who takes, takes and takes.
Why let Mama stop you from taking now?
You’ve never stopped to consider such a thing beforehand. Certainly not when taking from foreign stretches of Big Mom’s territories to provide for her tireless sweet tooth.
You’re brought out of your thoughts at the feeling of a finger poking against your cheek indignantly. You blink, looking at Pudding’s puffed out cheeks and eyes narrowed in suspicion. Even so, her voice is as light. “Are you listening to me? You should get some rest, I’ll make you something to eat if you didn’t get a chance to-”
“Let’s get out of here, Pudding.” It’s the three-eye hybrid’s turn to blink at you with surprise. “Way out of Totto Land. We couldn’t do it when we were kids but, we’re adults now. We’re stronger. And I’ve been to all of Mama’s territories so many times, I could avoid them even without a log pose. So let’s just go.”
Anywhere that isn’t here.
You’ll bypass all TARTE Security and sail to seas unknown.
Maybe even leave the Grand Line in its entirety.
Or perhaps you’ve missed your chance and you should have left with Lola all those years ago.
Either way it’s a dream worth betting everything on.
There’s no immediate answer from Pudding, nothing verbal at the very least. Her body language is a different story. Body stiff, eyes avoiding your gaze. Out of habit, her hand reaches to cover her third eye and you stop it once again.
“I’m not saying we take off right this second,” you add at her hesitance. “But soon while your mother is distracted. I know I’m asking a lot. But you trust me, right?”
“I trust you,” she nods lightly, smile small even if her eyes are unsure.
“Then trust me when I say there are plenty of people out there who aren’t going to give a rat’s ass about your eye,” you know that’s a task easier said than done. You want her to try all the same. “We are going to go out there and we are going to find a place for ourselves even if we have to go through a Calm Belt.”
Pudding can’t help giggling, shoulders moving with the sound, “what are you trying to do, have us live among the Kuja?”
“Why don’t we?” You follow in her laughter, picturing the Snake Empress. Two runaways from the Big Mom Pirates might be the world’s most unappealing offer. If the rumors about her are anything to go off, however, you doubt she’ll care much even if you were to tell her your origins. “She won’t turn down two strong ladies like ourselves. Watch them not have anywhere close to as skilled a chocolatier as you too.”
Somewhere peaceful far from Mama and where Pudding’s need to hide part of herself is a thing of the past. The second of the two will take time, but it will be worth the journey getting there.
Brown eyes look at you, round and beautiful, all three of them. “I’ll think about it,” Pudding promises.
That’s all you can ask of her.

One Piece OC: Bakerjoy Cora
Meet Cora, the princess of Honeyhold 🐝
If you want to see more content about Cora: click here ♡
Cora was born 38 years ago on Honeyhold Island. Honeyhold has been ruled by the royal family Bakerjoy for centuries. Cora is the second child of the King and the Queen of this realm. Honeyhold is known for making the best pastries of the world. This place is a real paradise for all the food lovers and cooks. The island is inhabited by Giant Bees, living peacefully among the citizens. The royal family are the only ones able to talk and control the Bees. This gift is passed on from generation to generation. Due to their ability to communicate with the Giant Bees, the royals have pointy ears. This unique feature is specific to the Bakerjoy family members with royal blood.
Cora was raised as a princess and learned all the royal rules of courtesy. Since Honeyhold is the kingdom of pastry and cooking, all the Bakerjoy are meant to become wonderful bakers. During years, Cora has performed her cooking skills to become to best baker of all the Island. When she was 16 yo, she opened her own teahouse where she served her speciality: The honey cake of Honeyhold.
When Cora was 18 yo, Big Mom and her crew decided to visit Honeyhold and taste the wonderful pastries of this realm. Charlotte Linlin was immediately seduced by the impressive talent of the princess Cora. Soon after, the King took this opporunty to offer his daughter’s hand to one of Big Mom's sons in exchange of the emperor's protection. Linlin will gladly accept the offer, but with her own terms. Since Cora will marry one of her sons, she will live with them on Totto Land and become her personal baker. Honeyhold will have to produce pastries and delivered them once a month for Big Mom's tea parties. The King accepted, but only if Cora married her oldest son. Seeing no inconvenient, and as long as the talented Cora will be part of her family, Charlotte Linlin gave her approbation.
At only 18, Cora left Honeyhold to start her new life on Totto Land. As a princess, she knew from a young age that she wouldn't have the luxury to choose her lover. Plus, she would have been foolish to stand against Big Mom's desire. So as promised, she become one of Big Mom's personal baker and married her oldest son Perospero. Together they got a son named Carmelo, and a daughter named Maple.
During Whole Cake Arc, Cora will be present at the wedding ceremony. After the irruption of the Straw Hats, and the destruction of the Whole Cake Chateau, she'll help Pudding, Sanji and Chiffon to make the cake to calm down Mama's rampage.
