sales are over, so here's my piece for the @op-pride-zine!! featuring the straw hats being gay and doing crime ✨ (through fun vandalism against the marines).

all of their outfits are based on pride flags and my personal headcanons! details are under the cut:

jinbe's outfit is based on the rainbow flag. chopper's outfit is based on the trans and non-binary flags. vivi's outfit is based on the trans and rainbow flags. nami's outfit is based on the lesbian flag. usopp's outfit is based on the trans flag, with details from the bisexual and rainbow flags. luffy's outfit is based on the aroace flag, with details from the non-binary flag. zoro's outfit is based on the agender and rainbow flags. sanji's outfit is based on the pansexual flag, with details from the trans and aromantic flags. robin's outfit is based on the trans and bisexual flags, with details from the polysexual flag. franky's cyborg parts are based on the pansexual flag, with details from the rainbow and polysexual flags. brook's outfit is based on the genderfluid flag, with details from the bisexual, polysexual and trans flags.

It's June, it's time for Pride themed posts, and One Piece gets plenty so let's talk about Norio Imamura

Ivankov is one of the largest (in multiple ways) examples of canon queer characters in One Piece and I want to talk about the real life drag performer who inspired him. The Rocky Horror Influence is obvious in all the Newkama but a stage actor was the inspiration for Iva.

This is from SBS Volume 58, where Oda explains that Norio Imamura (the original voice actor for Iva) was also the model and name inspiration for Iva. Also that meeting him inspired Oda to write more characters like Bon-chan so is also the cause of so many queer characters in One Piece.

Norio Imamura no longer voices Iva or gets much voice work do to a controversial photo posted on his personal blog and subsequent arrest under strict Japanese censorship laws (he was showing his full body tattoos and his penis was visible.)
