ᥫ᭡ Riddle Rosehearts

Riddle had already been up, dressed neatly, and had organized your uniform. Already beside you, he leaned over with a soft sigh, pressing a light kiss to your temple, followed by another on your cheek.

“Up now, love. You need time to properly prepare for class. You wouldn’t want your tie to be crooked again, would you?” he murmured, brushing a hand through your hair.

You grumbled, eyes still closed, and Riddle chuckled, just a little. “You can’t charm your way out of being late.”

Though he would never admit it aloud, Riddle secretly adored these quiet mornings where you clung to the sheets and mumbled his name like a plea. He kissed your forehead.

“You’ll ruin my perfect schedule.” he warned with playful sternness, but the warmth in his voice betrayed him. He gently held both your hands and helped pull you up to sit.

“Come on. If you hurry, I’ll let you pick which tea we have for breakfast.”

ᥫ᭡ Ruggie Bucchi

Ruggie was already in his uniform, a piece of toast in one hand, when he slipped into your room and spotted your sleeping figure.

“Still out cold, huh?” he chuckled, finishing his toast before sneaking over and flopping down beside you. He carefully pressed his nose into your neck, then peppered a few quick kisses along your jaw.

“C’mon, babe. up-up-up. You’re making me look responsible or something.”

You murmured something drowsy, and Ruggie just laughed, ruffling your hair before giving you a quick peck on the lips.

“Don’t make me late too,” he said, but there was no real annoyance in his voice, only warmth.

“I already made that omelette you like. Get up before I eat your half too.”

ᥫ᭡ Jade Leech

The sound of a gentle knock, followed by a quiet “Good morning” was the only warning before Jade’s fingertips brushed your cheek and his lips kissed your brow. You stirred, eyes barely cracking open before he murmured,

“You’ll be late if you stay tucked under the sheets like that… though I find the sight quite adorable.”

Jade coaxed you up slowly and patiently before going to get your uniform from the closet. When you slumped back down, he let out a low chuckle and leaned in again, his arms circling your waist, fingers dancing lightly over your back.

“Let me spoil you a little longer… but we mustn’t be late, darling.”

You murmured something, and Jade only smiled, pressing a final kiss to your lips.

ᥫ᭡ Kalim Al-Asim

“Good morning, sunshine!” Kalim’s bright voice practically filled the whole room before you even opened your eyes and then, mwah! A series of quick kisses landed on your cheek, nose, forehead, and lips. He was already in his uniform, practically vibrating with energy as he leaned over you.

“Time for school! I’ve already planned what we’re eating for lunch!”

You groaned and rolled to the side, and Kalim giggled, flopping halfway onto the bed beside you.

“Aww, come on! Don’t make me use tickles! Wait, how about a deal? One more kiss for every second you stay in bed!”

He kissed you again with a laugh, clearly ready to keep going until you gave in. His joy was so contagious, it almost made you forget you were still half-asleep.

ᥫ᭡ Rook Hunt

“Merveilleux~! Even in sleep, your beauty captures me.” Rook whispered, as he leaned beside you, lips brushing over your eyelids.

“But alas, the day awaits us.”

His kiss to your lips was slow, like a morning breeze, coaxing you gently awake.

“Let us not make the morning jealous by lingering too long apart from its light.”

You murmured something like “Five more minutes,” and Rook merely laughed, sliding an arm around your shoulders to help you sit up.

“The world is waiting for your brilliance, mon amour. I’ve picked your favorite perfume this morning, non?”

He kissed your hand this time.

“Say the word, and I’ll even carry you to class, princess style.”

ᥫ᭡ Idia Shroud

Idia stood awkwardly beside your bed, his hair glowing dimly, eyes darting nervously.

“U-Um… it’s morning. Classes. The bell’s gonna ring in… like, twenty-seven minutes?”

He poked your shoulder with a stylus, then gave up and leaned forward, brushing a kiss to your temple so fast you almost thought you imagined it.

“Okay, uh, there. Morning kiss.”

When you only rolled over and mumbled something half-asleep, he muttered under his breath, “W-Why are you so cute like this, what the heck…”

Idia hesitated… then shyly kissed you again, this time on your forehead.

“If you skip breakfast again, I’m telling Ortho. He’s gonna lecture you with a PowerPoint.”

But he was smiling, full of quiet affection even as he fiddled with the hem of his sleeve.

“I-I’ll wait for you outside, okay? Don’t forget your notebook…”

ᥫ᭡ Silver

Silver was already sitting beside you, uniform on, eyes half-lidded from his own drowsiness. He gently brushed his fingers along your hairline before leaning down to kiss your forehead.

“It’s morning… time to wake up.” he whispered, his voice soft and warm.

You felt the light press of another kiss, this time on your cheek before his arms wrapped around you in a careful hug to help you sit up.

“You’ll be late if we stay like this… but it’s nice, isn’t it?”

He wasn’t rushing you. In fact, he looked like he could fall back asleep with you right there. But as you blinked your eyes open, he offered a faint, sleepy smile and rested his forehead against yours.

“Let’s get up together” he murmured.

“We’ll walk to class slowly.”

𖦹 I have already finished Part 11 of Book 7, and I have to say, I fell even more in love with Ruggie. I want to pull for him, but I'm out of gems because of the Stitch event 😔

In a moment of madness, this idea came to me. We are beast pairs, spouses who stayed by their husband/wife's side even after the corruption because they love them at all costs, and are equally obsessed or possessive. When the Old Ones are in the land of the beasts and enter their territory, each one finds their enemy's wife, quietly in an area created exclusively for them. This confuses the Old Ones, as they were in the middle of a battle and arrived in a peaceful winter wonderland. They believed they were imprisoned because of the chain on their ankle, but they weren't. Their partner explains to them, in a calm, normal tone, that they created this place to distract them from what is happening, since it doesn't interest them. The chain was meant to prevent them from leaving without ensuring their survival. Only they understand their partner's obsession. For example, Dark Cacao finds Lectora in a different area. Perhaps one with docile animals she cares for. Pure Vanilla finds Lectora in a distorted area of the castle, but it's a quiet tea room. Golden Cheese finds Lectora in a winter wonderland filled with flowers and vegetables, which could be confusing since Burning Spice's kingdom doesn't seem to have one. Hollyberry finds Lectora babysitting in a secluded area, but this makes the beasts jealous when they find their mate.

Dark Cacao Cookie → Lectora’s Gentle Domain of Beasts

He trudges through ice and ash, blade drawn, expecting a monster. But he finds you, in a quiet glade nestled between icy cliffs.

A pack of massive, gentle-furred beasts sleep near your feet. A baby fox suckles from your hand. You hum lullabies to the wind.

There’s a delicate chain on Dark Cacao’s ankle, silver and warm—not for restraint, but a tether of care.

Lectora (Reader), softly: “He knew you would come for him. But there’s no need to fight. You’ll be warm here. Safe. Until he returns to you.”

You place a warm fur cloak over his shoulders like he’s a weary traveler, not an enemy.

Cacao doesn’t understand. The feral madness of the Beast King was supposed to be mindless. But this… this is devotion. Tenderness. It unsettles him more than any roar ever could.

Pure Vanilla Cookie

He steps into twisted stone corridors, vines whispering ancient curses. But behind an arched golden door is… serenity.

You sit in a grand tea room. Everything is broken but beautiful—cracked porcelain, glowing ivy through the ceiling, rusted chandeliers swaying in silence.

You pour him chamomile tea, hands gentle, eyes unreadable.

Lectora (Reader): “You always wanted to fix him. But I… I love him exactly as he is.”

You smile and sip, utterly serene. “He built this place to protect me from the noise. He knew you’d try to reach me.”

The chain on Vanilla’s ankle is ornate, laced with starlight magic. Not prison— a symbol of care, to keep him from walking into the chaos and getting hurt. He realizes this sanctuary is not his— it’s yours.

Golden Cheese Cookie

Golden Cheese expects flames and molten destruction. Instead, she’s knee-deep in snow… but it’s blooming.

A sprawling winter garden stretches before her. Vegetables. Apple trees. Thorned roses wrapped in frost. And you, in the center, wearing a soft winter cloak, humming as you pull up carrots for stew.

Lectora (Reader): “He didn’t like when I was cold. So he made this for me. Grew things for me with hands that only knew destruction.”

You smile up at her, innocent.

“The chain is just so you don’t run off and get hurt. It’s not cruel. He promised you’d be fed.”

She doesn’t understand. The Beast of Fire and Ruin made a garden? But looking into your eyes, she sees that same madness—quiet and elegant— the same love that makes beasts kneel.

Hollyberry Cookie

She charges through wreckage expecting a battlefield— but finds giggles and lullabies.

A warm glade hidden from the world. A cabin made of living roots and stone. You’re cradling a napping child (not yours), as other small cookies play quietly nearby.

Lectora (Reader): “He found them crying in the ruins. Said they were too small to be left alone.”

You rock one in your arms, smiling.

“They remind me of him, before he forgot how to speak.”

The chain on Hollyberry’s ankle is simple—braided from vines and bells, meant to alert you if she tries to wander. It’s protective. Not aggressive. You didn’t want her to get lost.

When your Beast arrives and sees you holding someone else’s child, his wrath is immediate. You have to calm him, pressing your cheek to his chest, whispering, “They are not mine. Only you are mine.”

Hollyberry, for the first time, feels pity for the Beast—not because he’s monstrous, but because he is utterly consumed by your love. And you by his.

Thinking about what time means to a fae and how conscious Lilia and Malleus became to it, and in a way, always have been.

Time has always ran at a different speed to faes than humans. To them, 20 years is nothing and runs by quickly.

Yet, unconsciously, time has become a concept Lilia and Malleus is conscious of.

For Lilia, you can say it started while he traveled and looked for a way to hatch Malleus. He keeps coming back to Mal egg, and tells him how long it’s been and how he’s still looking. Lilia who would encourage him to stay strong and tell him stories about traveling.

For a fae, this passage of time would mean nothing, but Lilia felt all those years. He constantly looked and worried about Malleus. He cared about him. It wasn’t a just a needless measurement of passage anymore.

But a concept he was conscious of as he looked to the stars and wished during his travels. Of course, seeing how the world evolved helped too. But, it was always in his mind, how to care and hatch Malleus.

And then he broke down crying, saying how after 200 years, he finally met him. He was relived. He was happy. All those years? It was worth it for this very moment.

Time moves on, treaties are made and Malleus grows, and then Silver is found and he’s conscious again of time. This time, it’s how fast it is for a human. Silver grows and changes faster than a fae and Lilia is also aware of that/made aware as is Baul and Malleus. Baul because of Sebek and Malleus because of Silver.

And then they come to NRC, where Lilia becomes aware of time but with a shock. His magic is gone, faster than he accounted for and so is his time, which makes him scramble to leave so he doesn’t hurt his loved ones.

With Malleus, he is aware of time, but initially it’s based on his loved ones as well. When Lilia visits him and he gets to spend time with him, Malleus’s time with his grandmother no matter how rare it would be, and unfortunately, the incidences of his loneliness (the cakes, the scares, people running away, etc) which he is aware of.

To a degree, he also understands the passage of time with humans because of Sebek and Silver.

He helped raise Silver. He has seen some of the milestones first hand. He taught them both. Malleus states multiple times how Silver and Sebek have grown quickly. He might not be as conscious as Lilia is but he is aware of it nonetheless and probably more aware than some of the fae in his country.

It really shows how much he cares about them to be so aware of how much time passed and how they grew to be the fine guards they are.

Malleus is shocked once again with time, ironically, because of Lilia and his leaving. Because Lilia is running out of it. Like how Malleus as an egg was dying and running out of time so is Lilia now. It has come a full circle and Malleus is more conscious than ever after he first found out about Lilia’s departure.

I find it rather precious and sweet that to such a timeless race like the fae, it is because of the love they have for their family that makes Lilia and Malleus so conscious of it. Because every moment to them is valuable no matter how long you have because they love each other so much 🥹💞💚

I think the Knight of Dawn being "a coward who is unable to stand up for what is right and does as he's ordered to" and "someone who cares deeply about his family and did everything he could so that Silver could live a happy and normal life in the future" are two statements that can coexist.

I'm trying to avoid getting spoiled so I haven't looked up what's happening in the Jp server's main story, but for my own sanity I need to ask; is the story at a point where we know whether Lilia will get better/survive his almost-empty magic reserves..? Was it a true death flag from the start or only a plot device for malleus' overblot....?

not yet! I do think they're going to get back to it eventually, but -- keeping it as low spoilers as possible -- there's been...let's just say a LOT going on in the meantime.

OOOHH for ficlet frenzy, I'm thinking the song Reflection (Mulan) with Silver's insecurity about being only human to his fae father!!!

I imagine at the start of his training to being a knight, he was having a difficult time coping with Lilia's standards.

and he feels dissapointed at himself for not being strong, for not being as magically gifted as Lilia... Its probably because he's not Lilia's biological son that he can't meet his expectations, so if he can't succeed at being a decent son, nor a decent knight,,, what else is he supposed to be?? What good is him, a mere human to his strong fae father?

The sound of his father's voice calling for an end to his first day of real training should fill Silver with relief. His every muscle screams in agony, desperate for some kind of respite. His skin is slick with sweat, coating him like a second layer of flesh. Panting, he feels his chest rise and fall from where he lays on the ground, and it is only the feeling of a shadow falling over him that gets Silver to turn his head.

Lilia smiles down at him, any trace of the strict coach he'd been earlier now gone. Left in his stead is the person Silver knows much better — his father, kind despite his eccentricities, and loving despite constantly needing to go away.

"Up you go now, Silver," Lilia says, whisking Silver to his feet with a flurry of magic. Patting him on his back, Lilia pushes him in the direction of their home. "Go freshen up, hm? I'll make sure there's a hot, steaming plate of dinner on the table when you're done!"

And Silver does. He goes to the bathroom, fills the tub with water from the rusty old tap, and settles in to wash all the sweat and grime off his skin.

Normally, he would bathe quickly, wishing to get out as soon as possible, not wanting to waste time. But staring at the wavering, dull reflection of his face in the warm water, Silver feels...

A void that slowly split open within his chest, slowly growing into a yawning abyss until Silver could not deny it anymore. Disappointment, that is what it is; it first formed within him as early as earlier that morning, when Silver had taken beating after beating, constantly being smacked down and defeated in his father's grueling training.

A lump clogs his throat. Hot tears prickle at the corners of his eyes.

He's just a human — ordinary in every way, lacking the powerful magic of the fae, along with their strength and swift grace.

What hope does he have to ever live up to expectations — his father's and his own?

What good will it do to believe he is capable of becoming one of Malleus' knights?
