Survey #378
“come as you are, as you were, as i want you to be”
Have you ever dreamt in another language? No. How long will you try out something you don’t enjoy before giving up on it? It really depends, but in most cases, admittedly very quickly. What’s something you recently realized or discovered about yourself? *shrug* What’s the most interesting news you read or received recently? What about the most depressing? Not in a good way really, but it was certainly interesting to learn I have such severe sleep apnea. Like, I was certain I didn't. The most depressing would be uhhhh... I guess Jason's mother's death, but I don't know how "recent" you'd consider that by now. Would you let politics get in the way of a relationship? It depends. Some beliefs I absolutely would not tolerate (like anti-LGBT), others I would just agree to disagree with. What is one way in which you need to learn to control yourself? I need to get better at controlling my mouth when I'm extremely upset. Do you use a photo editor? I use Lightroom and Photoshop for photography. Is your dad overweight? No, I think he's actually underweight. Ever been honked at? Yes. What’s the name of the most recent baby a friend has had? Easton, I think? An old middle school friend had him. Have you ever taken medication to help you fall asleep faster? Yes, but they never work for me. How did your parents pick your name? I dunno. If you had to move to another country, where would you move? Canada. Do you have a balcony? No. Who is a singer that has given you chills? Man, I get chills easily with music. David Draiman from Disturbed, his cover of "Sound of Silence" is BREATHTAKING. That's number one. There are many others, they're just not coming to me at the moment. Do you have a drone? No. What was the spiciest thing you’ve ever eaten? Some wings at Buffalo Wild Wings. I got some crazy hot sauce. Have you ever discovered something gross in your food at McDonalds? No. What was the last thing you used sliced bread to make? A sandwich. How long did your shortest relationship last? Like a day lmao. Would you rather have a trampoline or swimming pool? A POOL!!!! I've talked before about how I want one so, SO very badly to exercise my legs without having to worry about sweat, and I can take a break the very moment I need to. Do you own a Snuggie? Yeah, somewhere. Do you listen to any unsigned bands/singers? Who? Yeah, quite a few on YouTube, but my favorite in Jonathan Young. He is SO damn talented. Who is your favorite video game character? Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill franchise. What kind of pictures do you post on Facebook/Instagram/Snapchat most frequently? Mostly of my pets lmao. Have you ever been on vacation with a significant other? No. Have you ever considered “unplugging”/taking a significant period of time away from technology? No. I know I'd never stick to it. Do you prefer to watch a documentary that is about a situation/event or a documentary that is more of a personal character study/biography? The latter. Meerkat Manor comes to mind with that, and everyone knows how much I adore that show. There was also one about rhesus macaques I fell in love with. Basically, I love animal docs, haha. Can you think of a recent time in which you might have been better off resisting, but you did something because you “just couldn’t help yourself”? Probably eating something. When you are getting to know someone, do you tend to worry that the other person will lose interest in you once they get to know the “real” you? Yyyyep. What is something that you would like to do, but really aren’t able to because of your location? (e.g., see art or get a certain job) Man, a lot of things. Photograph meerkats is a biggie. What sort of job do you think is best suited for your skills? Is this an in-demand position or something you’re unlikely to actually get? If I could actually handle the heat and was in good shape to traverse the outdoors, I think I'd be a great wildlife biologist. Even more though, if I could beat my social anxiety, I would ADORE being an animal educator with kids. Do you believe it is the responsibility of businesses, or prominent business leaders (think Bill Gates) to take the lead on social issues whether by using their influence or their money? Saying it's their "responsibility" sounds unfair and puts a lot of weight on their shoulders, but I do feel they should by their own volition and kindness use their position for good, such as through monetary assistance and other things. Have you ever gone to a job interview and realized that you didn’t want the job? Yep. Have you ever asked that someone sacrifice something (a habit, relationship, job, etc.) for you? A habit, yes. Looking back it was stupid as shit. What would you call your body type? Ew. Has anyone ever hacked your accounts before? Yes. Do you enjoy big holiday dinners? Considering I spend them with my sister's bigoted, homophobic, and racist in-laws, not especially. I always feel very uncomfortable and disliked among everyone for being the "black sheep" among 'em. Is your vision good? God no. Even with my glasses, it's very poor. I need a new prescription badly. Do both of your parents have jobs? Mom has something of the sort, like she cleans a local church for a small pay, but it's not really a "job." She's still recovering from cancer, getting her strength back up and such before she can handle a consistent job. Dad's had a job for as long as I've lived. What is something you’ve always wanted a boy to do for you? How heteronormative. But whatever. It's so fucking cheesy, but singing a cute song to me while slowdancing sounds so super adorable to me. What food are you craving right now? I am craving something sweet like you wouldn't believe. It's annoying. Have you ever been in a car accident? Yes. Do you have a lot of scars? Yes, but most are very negligible. I just scar extremely easily. Last person you saw other than your family? My primary doctor. Last movie you’ve seen in theaters? The The Lion King remake. Who was the last person you played a video game with? Ummm I think Girt. Last game you played at an arcade? Zero clue. What was your favorite nursery rhyme as a child? I THINK I particularly liked "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider?" None stand out strongly, though. What is your favorite cousin’s first name? I don’t have a favorite cousin. Would you prefer to travel around the world by yourself or with a friend? I think with a friend to prevent loneliness, but at the very same time, I see a great beauty in traveling on your own. Just taking new things in, seeing so many different cultures, beautiful scenery... I feel it'd be a great chance for exploration of insight. Remind yourself how small you are, that there's a much, much bigger picture than your own problems, that people are so unique but hopefully share common morals... I see a lot of poetry in it. Do you like the smell of coffee? It's one of my favorite smells. If you have a favorite photographer, can you describe their work? I can't possibly pick. I watch literally hundreds on deviantART, and many of them absolutely blow my mind. What’s one aspect of your life that did not turn out as you expected? My lack of a career. Outside of school, have you ever used a thesaurus? Well, online ones for writing. When you see a good-looking girl in skimpy clothing, what is your initial thought? I envy her confidence, like gotdamn girl. Have you ever been in a lighthouse? No. Are you on a laptop or desktop? A laptop. What color is your shower? White. Where do you order your pizza from? Domino's or Little Caesar's. What was the name of the last dog you pet? We've been calling the dog we're holding right now Zoe. Have you ever had anything stolen from you? Yes. Have you ever seen the White House? I don't think so, but it's possible I have when we've driven up to New York, but from a distance. How about Niagara Falls? No. What do you like in your salads and what dressing do you prefer? I just like regular iceberg lettuce with some bacon bits and ranch. Man, that sounds good right about now. Any posters of a band on your bedroom wall? Yeah, Metallica and Marilyn Manson. Do you think it’d be cool to have your body mummified after you die? No. I couldn't rock the mummy look even if I tried, haha. Can you tell the difference between a Scottish & an Irish accent? Not really, no. Can you read music? I used to be able to. Do you work the night shift? I don’t have a job, but if I did, I absolutely do not want to work the night shift anywhere. Have you ever slept over at your best friend’s house? Yes. Is your mother diabetic? Are you? She is, but I'm not. Would you like to learn how to make ceramic pottery? It'd be cool, sure. Ever sang someone to sleep? No. Who did you last kiss? My cat. Why did you last lie? I don't recall. Probably to just avoid confrontation with Mom. What do you put on your hamburgers? Cheese, ketchup, and mustard, generally. Who do you think cares the most about you? My mom. Have you ever sent a dirty picture? No. What’s at the center of your dining table? Honestly, we sit in there so rarely that I don't even know. I think we might have nothing, actually. Have you ever started a rumor? No. Do you like being outside? If it's cool, yes. What’s your favourite condiment? Maybe ketchup. Or honey mustard. Who sang/played the last song you listened to? Chris Motionless is the singer of Motionless In White. I don't know if that's his real last name, though. Do you like yoga? I used to. Now all the bending and shit would make me dizzy as hell with my "how are you still alive" level of low blood pressure. Do you always carry breath mints? No, but I do carry Tictacs with me, but they're for my dry mouth. It forces you to salivate, so it helps. What do you think your reaction would be upon entering the White House? I don't really know. I honestly don't even know how it looks inside. Thinking about it, I'd probably be more scared than anything, waiting for a bomb to drop or some shit lmao. Have you ever grown your own sea monkeys or dinosaurs? OH MY GOD I LOVED those!!! I definitely did! Have you ever thrown a game controller (or the game) and broke it? No, I've never been the type to do that. If I'm SERIOUSLY getting mad, all I do is tighten my grip. Did you ever own an Etch-a-Sketch? Yes. Do/did you ever have glow-in-the-dark stars on your ceiling? I believe so. What movie were you really worked up for that ended up disappointing you? My answer is Warcraft, but only because the fucking orcs' voices were so baritone that I couldn't understand them almost ever lmaooo. Like I had a mild idea of what was going on because of the game, but still. What part of a paper is hardest for you to write? The intro, or the conclusion. Both are difficult to me. Like I want to compose a gripping beginning as well as an end that doesn't just repeat everything I've already said and ends on a strong note. Does it bother you that almost everything is done on computers now? No. KFC Chicken: original or extra crispy? I don't like fried chicken. Think about your first kiss. Did you have any idea what you were doing? I mean, I guess? Like I'd seen kisses enough to know how to give someone a peck. It just came naturally. Did you get Happy Meals just for the toys as a kid? Not just for the toy, but it's the main thing I wanted, sure. Have you ever seen your parents cry? If so, how did it make you feel? Seeing my mom cry absolutely destroys me. I don't want her to hurt EVER. Especially if it's seriously unfair bullshit that has her upset, I also get very angry (not at her, of course) and protective. I've seen Dad tear up once, back when he was telling us about his mother's funeral, and I felt immense surprise more than anything. He does NOT cry. How do you feel about animal testing? It's fucking disgusting and barbaric. Find a different goddamn way. Do you add condiments to your ice cream, or just eat it plain? If I'm having vanilla, I'll usually add chocolate syrup. Have you ever witnessed a crime? Yes. What’s the coolest personalized license plate you’ve ever seen? I'm forever gonna get a kick out of this one that just said "omw," haha.

i promised @dameschnee123 id write a whitley-willow angst ficlet after i bomb my midterms lmao so here we go
The Schnee Manor felt a tinge warmer than usual. Willow could tell, she always hated the cold. Despite her helplessness, it was the one thing she could never let go of from her life before Jacques Schnee. The warmth of her father’s smile, the faint smell of his cologne that is still somehow attached to his scarf never failed to help her feel a bit more comfortable in this freezing mansion.
How could she not have seen the warning signs? The way Jacques seemed to suck the warmth out of any room he was in? How is hands were always so cold? It was if the Gods were giving her every sign to stay away, but she just pushed on right through- falling for every one of his tricks, stubbornly thinking that maybe he loved her. Maybe he wasn’t using her.
Gods, why had she been such a stupid girl.
Her mother always said she was naive, just like her father. Always wanting to believe the best in people. Even he had believed in whatever manufactured good Jacques had in him.
Stupid Stupid Stupid. Everyone.
Time blurred and somehow she found herself back in her bedroom. She didn’t remember walking so far from the front doors of the manor, but yet...
Was she crying?
There was a dull pain in her throat and Willow could feel a sob rising in her chest. Are these tears of joy? Anger? Sadness? She spent so long numbing the pain that she couldn’t tell the difference anymore. All she knew is that she needed to kill it before it became futile. Numb it before the reality of her life hit her.
But what is there to run away from?  He’s gone
But Willow still felt the same. She was no longer being held down, but she had gotten so comfortable on the ground she can’t tell the difference anymore. But... Perhaps she’ll give in tonight. A little treat for doing the one thing she should have done years ago- getting rid of him.
On her nightstand sat a bottle of liquor, next to the family photos she cared enough to keep next to her every night. Willow wiped her cheeks.
Ironic
Standing next to the bottle on either side were two small photos. Once upon a time she had taken the time to take photos with each of her children and frame them. Once upon a time she used to happily gaze upon these photos before retiring to bed, thinking that if her worst fears about Jacques were true, she would at least still have her babies.
But the truth hit a lot harder than she thought it would.
The picture on the right was of her and Winter. It was a regal picture- but not short on love. Winter had always been a serious child, bred from birth to be Jacques’ perfect heir. She was always easily flustered when it came to acts of affection, which really only spurred Willow on. She had both her hands on Winter’s shoulders while Winter stood there on front of her, arms behind her back. Smirking. Willow started to chuckle before catching herself. What right did she have to look upon this picture and smile? She hadn’t been the same mother in that picture for years.
The picture on the left was of her and Weiss. She was poised closer to Weiss, almost bent over with her head near Weiss’ shoulder, smiling and rubbing her cheek against her daughter’s. Willow almost couldn’t recognize herself. Somehow this woman managed to make Weiss smile. She hasn’t been able to really make Weiss this happy in years. What would she give to be able to recreate this image in the present. Just stop thinking.
Her hands were shaking as she reached for the bottle in between the framed pictures. Why did she still keep them there? To torture herself? Guilt herself? Did the old Willow place them there knowing that it’ll only hurt herself later? She didn’t need these thoughts. Not tonight.
She quickly grabbed the bottle and raised it to her lips, but not before she caught a glimpse of the third photo in the middle, obscured from her sight earlier by the liquor bottle.
Gods.
Willow stood there, facing the camera in the midst of laughter. To her side was Whitley, six - not wait five years old- with his arms around her neck and standing on his toes, landing a big smooch on her cheek. This wasn’t meant to be the picture, but Whitley was quite the hyperactive child. The photographer had taken this photo and proclaimed it to be the more wholesome shoot he had ever done. Willow had agreed.
There was a time when she wasn’t able to go three hours without taking a glance at this photo. She had adored it so much she kept it a secret from Jacques, not wanting him to publish it or hang it up for everyone who visited the manor to see. No. This picture was hers.
Now a part of Willow had wished she had showed it to Jacques. Had let him take it and tarnish the memory before Willow ever could have done it herself. She gripped her bottle, knuckles whitening. Does she wish she had hurt Whitley more?
No... she doesn’t. She wont.
She placed the bottle back down hesitantly and made her way to Whitley’s room. What was she going to say? “Hey I know you’re very upset, and I’ve been ignoring your emotional needs for years but please just let me be your mother for once and comfort you”? No- too direct.
What would old Willow do?
She grimaced. Old Willow wouldn’t have needed to make excuses. She wouldn’t have watched Whitley run up the staircase and done nothing to console him. Old Willow deserved to be Whitley’s mother. She didn’t abandon him. Hurt him continuously for years. What right does she have to come back and pretend that she deserved his forgiveness?
But she wasn’t going to leave him. Not again.
She tentatively approached his door before pausing, hearing a faint sound behind the door. Crying? Or maybe closer to sobbing. Willow gritted her teeth, resisting the urge to run away. You know how to do this. Just do it.
She always knew Whitley cried a lot more than he let on, but of course he never let her in on it. The night Weiss left for Beacon Willow was in this same position, standing nervously outside Whitley’s room door, listening to him weep before eventually losing her nerve and walking away. That night she should have gone in. But she was too afraid of rekindling the relationship she used to have with her son. Too scared to comfort him.
But tonight she will.
She softly knocked on his door. “Whitley... darling, may I come in?”
The sobbing stopped. There was a small sniffle. And then silence.
“Whitley, sweetheart, please?” Willow hated the begging in her voice. Hated that she had to beg her son to let her in because she lost the right to be able to walk in casually so long ago.
You know what... fuck it
Willow opened the door and silently stepped into the room. Thankfully, Whitley doesn’t lock his room door- a rule set by Jacques a few months ago. She spotted him in his bed, curled up around his pillow under a mass of covers. Is he pretending to be asleep? Willow doesn’t really blame him. She could pretend that she fell for it and leave- No.
She made her way to his bed and sat on the edge, still at loss for words.
“I know you’re awake”. She cringed at the accusatory tone of her voice. Be gentle.  “Its okay if you don’t want to talk... but I’d prefer if you’d tell me how you’re feeling.”
Silence.
Then came a muffled reply: “I’m fine”
“Okay...” Willow could see the tear stains on his pillow where he had been crying into it. “Could you tell me why you’re crying then?”
“Why do you think?”
Willow scowled. She had dealt with teen talk back before with Winter. But now it feels like she’s walking on egg shells.
“I know you’re upset about what happened earlier tonight-”
“Why are you here?” Whitley sat up, glaring at her. “Shouldn’t you be drowning your sorrows away?”
Gods, this kid. Willow wanted to get angry. Just up and leave like she usually would do- preferring to sit in solitude than to deal with this. But she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Looking at Whitley- his mussed up hair, red eyes and nose from weeping only moments ago, she wanted to hold him in her arms until he stopped feeling hurt or until he fell asleep. Or both. It didn’t matter to her. She wanted him to be okay.
“No... I’m choosing to be here with you right now,” she took his hand in hers. Surprisingly, he didn’t stop her. “Look I... I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. You were so young and... I just- every time I see you-”
“What? Do I remind you of Father?” Whitley snapped. “Isn’t that what you always said? That he and I deserve each other?” He was fully facing her now, practically yelling. Willow choked down pain in her throat. Whitley never yelled. Even when he’s upset, he speaks barely above his inside voice.
“No! I didn’t mean-”
“What? Tell me whats your excuse now?”
“I don’t have an excuse! Everyday I regret failing you! It hurts to look at you because I love you and everyday I wish that I was stronger. Strong enough to be your mother instead of the mess I am now. Whitley please, darling, just know that you’re everything to me and I want you to be happy,” Willow hadn’t realized she was yelling back before until she heard the echos of her last few words. She slowly looked back up at him. “Sweet-”
He quickly pulled his hand away from hers, cradling both against his chest. She couldn’t describe the look on his face as anything other than... panic.
“Why?” Tears welled up in his eyes. “Why are you doing this to me?”
Willow blinked. “What do you mean? Whitley what’s wrong?”
“Why are you saying these things? Are you drunk?” Whitley seemed to shrink into himself, distancing himself from Willow. “You abandoned me. You, Winter, Weiss, you’re all the same. At least Father pretended to care about me, and you all had to take that away too”.
No No No. Willow scrambled for anything to say, anything to calm him down. But her mind was empty. All she could do was stare. She thought she had known Whitley well enough all these years, but no... she didn’t. The shoulder pads he usually wore to imitate his father were gone, and now he just looked... small. So small. Was he always like this? She didn’t know. She hadn’t bothered to ever look any deeper than what scrapes Whitley gave her in these last few years.
“You think that you can just come here and act like you’ve loved me all along?” Whitley’s voiced cracked. “Why are you being so cruel?”
“Cruel...” Willow barely registered his words. Whitley didn’t understand like how Weiss understood. He’s too damaged. Too caught up in his resentment and anger to ever see the people who cared for him. But what could she say? Yes, I neglected you for years, but you should forgive me? Yes, Winter left for Atlas Academy and never reconnected with you, you should forgive her? Forgive Weiss for finding a better life else where than here with you? Whitley could never find it within him to forgive them. Willow knew he’s been burned too many times and now he’s given up. He just wants to be alone. Even if it hurts him.
“Just... get out. Leave me alone. I don’t need you or anyone... just go.”
Willow got up, feeling Whitley’s eyes burn a hole into her back as she turned to leave. Did he actually want her to stay? She didn’t know. He probably doesn’t know either.
She heard his breath catch as she stepped out the door, closing it behind her.
Willow didn’t know how long she stood outside in the hallway, listening to Whitley’s wails before walking back to her room. She hoped a little distance would block out the noise, but she could still hear it faintly as she sat on her bed drinking the last drop of her liquor.
She placed the bottle conveniently right between the two photos of her daughters and hoped for sleep.

Hi friend!! Would you mind doing a domestic lazy day with Lucy for a thing? Thank you!!
*whispers* im so gay for you lucy.
My first time writing about her (and definitely won’t be my last). Hope she sounds like herself here, sorry if it sucks. Lots of love to you all, especially my lovers who are just as gay for Lucy as I am x
a domestic lazy day with Lucy was always filled with something that made your heart flutter
you two had stayed up the night before, not too late but a bit longer than you normally would if she had work that day
and it was marvellous, the night before
you two had made hot chocolate for yourselves and sat in front of the tv watching her favorite film just because she begged you with the bat of her eyelashes and the pout of her lip to
you could never say no to her, especially when she’s like that
she repaid you later that night tho as she went down on you in between the sheets lol
the next morning, you two woke up tangled in each others arms, sunlight streaming through the window
all your mutual friends were texting you two, asking if you guys would want to come out for a picnic or something
but you two shared a look and you just knew to text everyone back saying no
“i know we’re probably two idiots for not going out and enjoying this weather in london but i can’t be bothered to get up, Y/N,” Lucy said, tugging you closer and resting her head on your shoulder “besides, I can think of much better things to do indoors”
so you guys stayed opted to stay in
and after a morning of making love
the two of you went down to the kitchen to make french toast and other breakfast foods you both loved
it’s then that you realise she’s wearing one of your sweatshirts that you thought when missing months ago
and when you asked her about it
her cheeks go red with embarrassment as she said “I-I brought it to LA with me when we were filming so I’d always have you around, I hope you don’t mind.”
of course u dont cause she cute as fuck
Lucy then left for a minute to go to the restroom and she was so quiet when she came back, you didn’t even notice
you also didn’t notice was Lucy snapping a photo of you at the stove and posting it with the caption “Morning in with my love. She makes the best breakfast and you can’t tell me otherwise.”
to which Joe commented “I’m hurt that I wasn’t invited over for breakfast, but the cuteness of this photo makes up for it. I’ll allow it.”
you usually hated having your photo taken in the morning but Lucy always had a way of taking photos of you that you genuinely loved
and maybe it was just because she took them that you loved them, maybe it’s because she was a genuinely good photographer
either way, Lucy always made you feel beautiful and that was enough
and so she comes behind you, resting a head on your shoulder with her arms around you
she inhales the sweet scent of the food your making, lays a kiss on your neck and says
“i’m so lucky to have you”
and you’re like ??? lucy do u know who u r (lmao u dont say that but)
so you say “lucy, i don’t think you know how lucky i feel everyday being with you”
and she says “i do, i think i do, because i feel it when i’m with you, darling.” before kissing you lightly
afterwards you two sit at the dining table, giggling and laughing with each other at the weird faces you make from across each other
you’re both dorks so i mean anything makes you both laugh, especially each other
when breakfast / brunch is finished, the two of you lie in each others arms whilst in the living room
youre playing with each others’ fingers as you both read,
lucy’s reading a script and you’re reading a book lucy picked up for you whilst she was out in America because she read the back of it and knew you’d love it
you’re only 30 pages in but you love it dearly so shes never wrong thats a fact
and occasionally, she’d put her script down and just stare at you till you put your thing down
which doesnt take long cause you always get blushy when she stares at you, you can just feel it
and you say “w-what?”
she just smiles and you and tells you she loves you so much
“when I was a teenager and crying about over some prick who broke my heart, i would think back to this moment here to make myself feel better”
and you’re like “this moment? what do you mean?”
Lucy would move closer, look down at your intertwined fingers and continue smiling and say
“this, what we have between us, right here. this is all i’ve ever wanted, to be able to sit and read with the love of my life without a care in the world on a beautiful afternoon, just this. just us, y/n”
so you grin and you tell her you love her too before kissing her passionately
and later that night, when you both realise you guys have a shit ton of laundry to do that you should’ve done that day but didn’t want to face it,
she just laughs with you and tugs you closer and says “i’m glad i’m with someone who just doesn’t give a fuck sometimes either”
bottom line Lucy makes you feel loved and special everyday
and when in bed that night, she’s spooning you and telling you just how much she loves you when she says
“today was perfect, I know we technically didn’t do anything but that’s just how I like it because I was with you.”
so. who wants to be my Lucy and have a domestic lazy day with me cause I’m more sad and lonely than usual because of this lmao

PSA- How It All Went Down On February 10th
Today is the one year anniversary of when I got into Def Leppard, and how everything on this blog came to be becuase of today. Below is the entire story of how I came across Leppard, and how this blog came about.
Happy one year!
Let me get one thing clear- I definitely grew up on Def Leppard in one way or another.
My dad’s been a huge fan since ‘83, so of course, I heard their music growing up. However, I didn’t exactly know it was them that I was hearing- I just always heard their name from my dad. I kept my own taste in music, and never paid attention to them (since I didn’t exactly know who they were).
So, the road to my current state of Leppard-loving actually began at the beginning of my sophomore year (fall 2016). For some reason I "rediscovered" Sugar (as in I never knew the title or the artist of it but always heard it as a kid) and started listening to it a lot. A lot.
During my sophomore year, I transitioned my music taste into classic rock. I don’t remember how this happened, but it was for the best.
At the end of my sophomore year, I "rediscovered" Animal (same scenario) and started listening to it a lot, but never listened to any other song by them voluntarily.
In the summer following this (summer 2017), whenever we burned a fire on our deck, we would always play Weird Al/ Electric Amish (stuff like that) when we were out there late at night. Eventually, one night in July, I was out of ideas of what to play so I asked my dad (a huge DL fan) what I should put on and of course he simply says "Def Leppard." I asked him what song and said to just pick one, so I thought, “oh god I don't really know any of their songs and I don’t know what he likes, what should I pick? Okay, I’ll pick one I don’t know. Let's just pick the first one that comes up that I don't know" and it just so happens that that one was Hysteria, and I put it on and immediately my dad goes "Ahh.. you had to pick this one...” and tilts his head back, looking up at the sky.
He then told me the story of the first time it was played for the rest of the band (which isn’t 100% true, but this is just what he knew) he said that one of the guitarists (it was actually Phil and Sav) played what they had so far for the rest of the band around a campfire like we were doing (which turned out to be some of Sav and Phil's Irish friends).
But it felt really cool being out there with this song playing, and it was the first time I had ever heard it, too. Hysteria was my favorite song within a week. But, still, I could probably only name 3 or 4 DL songs at this point (I apparently did know more, but none by name). Those 3 or 4 DL songs kinda defined that summer for me, funny enough.
October of 2017: I don't exactly know how it happened, (I think I heard it on the radio) but I rediscovered Photograph (I actually knew this one by name) and became OBSESSED WITH IT FOR ALL OF NOVEMBER. Making music videos in my head, writing it into my NaNoWriMo novel, listening to it whenever I could, just wow- I love it. That's when it became my favorite song of all time (and it still is- tied with Hysteria).
It's January of 2018 now, and I'm still cooing over Photograph and Sugar and Hysteria and Animal, then January 14th, 2018 comes around- I almost meet Rick by accident, then a week or so later I'm watching the Metal Mayhem block on MTVC...
A video ends, it fades to black, and then suddenly I hear that "pck......" pluck of a string that echoes away and my heart jumps- “IT'S PHOTOGRAPH OHMYGODOHMYGOD...!!”
It occurred to me right then and there that I had never seen the music video before (or even considered that there may have been one)
It had ALSO occurred to me that I had never once actually looked at a picture of the band. I'd never seen their faces.
So I’ve got a favorite song I’ve been obsessed with for a solid two months, I discover its music video, and look at the band who sings it for the first time- and who starts singing my absolute favorite song of all time but an absolutely daSHING young man in a Union Jack tank top and a white scarf.
And then he hit me out of nowhere and I actually said to myself "God... the lead singer's actually kinda cute... like... really cute..." followed by an "oh no" shortly after because I knew I'd eventually fall madly in love with this simply adorable man who sings my favorite song, and I’d remember that that is what started it all (but that's not what started it all. It was simply an “I’ve been down this road before and this is typically how it starts.” I was more shocked than anything that my dad’s favorite band had a pretty cute lead singer- like how was that possible?) I was now, however, teetering on the edge of falling into an obsession... anything could set me off.
And it finally did- on February 10th, 2018. My dad was taking me to a drama club rehearsal, and Bringin On the Heartbreak came on the radio. My dad turned it up and went "Yes! Old Leppard!" and at the chorus I went "WHAT'S THIS SONG CALLED I THINK I'VE HEARD IT BEFORE"
It was just the chorus I remembered, not exact words, but it just sounded all familiar, the melody of their forces, the screaming of the words, I'm pretty sure I heard it a really long time ago. And thus, it had begun. I went home, I found it on our iCloud and downloaded it.
Then I remembered my dad saying something when he was drunk about how "I nEED ROCK. LIKE ROCK. I'M TALKING LIKE- PYROMANIA. TWICE."
So I thought "I really really like a small handfull of Def Leppard’s songs. I think I should listen to them more. I'll listen to Pyromania- twice." (I’d heard of the album beforehand but never listened to it- or had I?). So I did one day. I listened to it. Twice. And BOOM; there were at least 4 songs on there right off the bat I most definitely recognized. Turns out I did know a ton of songs by Def Leppard- I just didn’t know it was them.
And of course I looked into them a bit more, hearing about all their popular stuff, listening to all of Hysteria, FINALLY looking up that handsome son of a bitch's name (Joe), finding out that one of the main composers of my favorite song went and died before I was born (Steve), and finding their more popular songs, and listening to all albums soon enough.
I kept going back to tumblr to find pics of them and such, but there weren’t a lot. There wasn’t much on here at all about them. Whatever I did find, though, I reblogged. I was straight up obsessed within days. That week was crazy for my old tumblr.
However, at the end of the week, on Feb 18th, only a week after it all began, I accidentally deleted my tumblr account (long story, don’t ask). I was honestly devastated because I had it for almost 4 years and all that history was now gone in the blink of an eye. Within the hour, I restarted and created a new tumblr account. I was lost on here and didn’t know where to begin, or get back on my feet. For one thing, I got my old url back ( @mccoys-killer-queen ) and immediately made my background the same pic of the guys as it was before to kind of trick myself into thinking nothing had changed.
I was wrong, and that was a good thing.
I got back into a fresh new blog, and started going around to people and asking them to spread the word on what happened and to hopefully get most of my followers back.
To this day I don’t remember all of them, and that’s been a good thing so far.
While I was doing this, I started talking to @raised-on-radio (whom I had only become mutuals with about a week earlier),
“thinking about legit starting a def leppard blog tho” I said in the tags of a post I reblogged. She sent it back to me saying that I totally should (thanks, by the way!). And while I wasn’t totally serious about it at the time, I thanked her for the support so early on.
The next day- literally- the next day (Feb 19th), I messaged her and said that I couldn’t help myself, and made a DL blog (you’re looking at it right now). I’d never had a sideblog before, but within a week, I really enjoyed it (and obviously, I still do). Upon looking at this dead/sleeping fandom on tumblr, I realized right away it needed some sort of revival- to become like other fandoms in the modern day. There was no fanfic (on tumblr at least), there were no memes (oh heLL NO there was not), there wasn’t much circulation of posts, and it just felt dead- which I KNEW it wasn’t. It was very far from it.
Over the next month or so, it seemed now that I was involved with the fandom, it was starting to awaken in some ways. There were people actually posting content, more people were making blogs, memes got involved (I’m taking the credit for that, lmao, it seemed no one else posted memes except me and @stupidpicturesofdefleppard ). I don’t want to say I caused this awakening, but it just seems that it happened around the time I got involved with everything. A divine coincidence.
The year that followed was amazing in so many different ways. In a year, I went from not even looking at a photo of the guys and not even knowing their names, to interacting/having one of them and their official twitter interact with me on Twitter a few times, to meeting one of them in person (and putting my arm around him and having him call me ‘darling’), to having a year long obsession that’s still going strong, to knowing much more songs by them than any other artist, to knowing more facts and history about them than anything else, to being able to recognize them if given the slightest detail, and to being absolutely in love with every member and everything Def Leppard has done (not in that order!)
One year later, here we are! The past 365 days since I first heard Bringin’ On The Heartbreak in my dad’s car has been one hell of a story that’s taken me months to completely type out, and I can’t thank everyone enough for somehow making me gain 364 followers in the past year for something I never thought would get off the ground! If I told myself a year ago that I’d be where I am now, I don’t know what I’d think of it. I’d think it absolutely crazy- which it is!
But I wouldn’t change a thing about the last 365 days, that’s for damn sure.
Rock on, guys!

Japan Trip 2018 (Kansai)
Tumblr media
Back from Japan again!
This time I went with my family went to Kansai!!
There were so many things we did in the span of 10 days that everything had passed by in almost a blur. The entire vacation was quite thrilling because we landed in Japan right when the flooding was taking place in Osaka. We stayed at my hometown in Nagano for about three days, and by the time we reached Kansai, most of the flooding had disappeared!
As with the previous travel post, I took pictures of almost EVERYTHING I saw. Some of my brother’s and dad’s photos will be in this log, and I will highlight them accordingly!
Please enjoy!! :’D
(Warnings: Lots of photos of pretty things, my sparse commentary and my occasional photobombing totoro)
Day 1: Travel to Nagano
Tumblr media
ACK. I ate salted salmon with rice on the plane but everything was shaking and I forgot to take a picture.
We arrived in Japan but I could only take a photo from the middle seat! The ride was crazy – the pilot said there would be clear skies but the rain was near torrential so the landing had a lot of drops. The woman behind me screamed, so naturally I, being terrible with turbulence, screamed as well.
Tumblr media
The floor was wet so the plane skidded a little when we landed!
Tumblr media
NARITA EXPRESS to Tokyo station. Unlike the previous two trips, we managed to be on time for the train, so we didn’t have time to stop by the Starbucks ;w;
Tumblr media
I napped throughout the flight since I didn’t manage to sleep a wink during the plane ride, therefore missing most of the awesome view. Totoro’s enjoying it in my stead but he’s separated from his natural habitat by a glass panel.
Tumblr media
We reached Tokyo Station and went past GranSta!
There was an AI robot called Pepper greeting us there! This is my first time seeing an AI, but I didn’t have much time to find out what he was used for
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eventually, we stopped by Beer Hall to eat (this restaurant was located right next to Character Street!) I tried their mentaiko spaghetti and I was blown away by how light and delicious it was! This is something I can eat two helpings of before I become full!
Tumblr media
Time to go to Daimaru, the place I can’t afford unless I’m with my parents. We bought Tops cake from there before heading off to my grandparents’ house!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’M LEAVING TOKYO STATION AND I DIDN’T EVEN EXPLORE HALF OF IT. (Spoiler alert: I’ll be back here a few days later)
Tumblr media
My brother ate some Shumais we bought from Tokyo station along the ride! I dozed off because the seats in the bullet train are better than my bed
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dropped off at Sakudaira! Since we were surrounded by mountains the weather was freezing despite it being mid-summer. Even though it’s only been a year I missed this place so much
Tumblr media
COUNTRY ROAAAD TAKE ME HOOOME to the PLAACE I BELOOONG
(the car ride back to my grandparents’ home  was super enjoyable since my brother kept blasting 70s music that my parents love)
Tumblr media
On the way we stopped by a Seven Eleven! I got carried away with buying the cup noodles (Santouka and Ippudou) since they only cost 4USD while they would have caused 18 USD if you ate them in a restaurant in Singapore!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[First photo by my brother] Home away from home I missed you so. Most of what we had to do for the next few days were family stuff that I won’t go into detail about. But basically we had a whole lot of relatives to greet and a ceremony to prepare for! So there was a lot to do
Tumblr media
View from my grandmother’s garden!! I love the mountains and I wish I could plant one where I live. I hope the tectonic plates in Singapore converge in five years
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Last photo by my brother] Like a good girl, I slacked off from cleaning duty to walk around the neighbourhood. This place always calms me somehow. If I lived here permanently I would probably want to walk at least twice a week! Here are some of the stuff that I photographed. I’ve always associated this place with good things and I feel like I go through some sort of emotional and spiritual cleansing each time I come here.
Tumblr media
Here’s what we ate for dinner [photo by my brother]! Loads of protein and no carbohydrates. The chicken in particular was really nice and it was from this restaurant called Big Ben!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[First photo by my brother] Since my grandparents’ house was pretty much completely occupied, we stayed at our uncles’ place instead! It was so huge, almost like a Ryokan, and could afford at least 3 guest rooms. I can’t believe they live in something so grand it’s like a hotel
Day 2: Nagano
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly I live in an apartment so for this entire section to be the guest room just blows me away. IT’S HUGE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We went back to my grandparents’ house for breakfast and ate matsutake  gohan with fish! I’ve always loved eating cheap and healthy food. The fried eggplant was probably the best eggplant dish I ever ate! Countryside food is so different from Tokyo food
Tumblr media
Ate this for lunch during the ceremony! It was really filling!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had more time in the afternoon so I went to scale one of the mountains to a satisfying height!
Tumblr media
Our grandmother came to join us in the afternoon, and before we knew it, it was dinner time and many of our relatives joined us with their food! [photo by my brother] It felt a lot like the Summer Wars sort of dinner gatherings, where everyone just sat along a long table and drank alcohol while chatting
Tumblr media
We went back to my uncle’s place and our aunt made us mango pudding! She’s a really good cook.
Day 3: Nagano
Tumblr media
The next morning she gave us cherries and grapefruit! Today we would have to leave her house for good, and it makes me a little sad. But I hope to return one day!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next day was a day of loafing around at my grandparents’ place, but we did find some goodies! Namely my dad’s baby photos and we teased him relentlessly about it. We also tried the Ippudou and Santouka noodles and it was really good! The soup tasted just like the way it did in the restaurant!
Tumblr media
Later in the afternoon, we went to a friend’s house! I haven’t been here for five years so it was really nostalgic to come back here! It always had a really western-decorated interior which I was fond of.
Tumblr media
We had really delicious cake! The cream was super fresh and sweet *p*
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was blueberry season so we went to pick some blueberries from the garden! The one I picked was pretty but sour lmao. I have no green thumb
Tumblr media
Mini eggplant! Too young to eat!
Tumblr media
These were leeks!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of the flowers I really liked in the garden!
Tumblr media
Good old chimney I always know where I stand with you
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that, we came by this area to buy our train tickets for Ise! [First photo by my brother]. I used to eat at a ramen shop here nearly ten years ago. I’m amazed how it’s been so long and everything still looks the same!
Tumblr media
EON MALL I MISSED YOU SO [Photo by my brother]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the stores are the same as five years ago!! I’m on a nostalgia trip
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They ACTUALLY sell uniform sweaters here! I really wanted to buy the red one but they were so expensive!! I will reserve my gakuen dreams for another day
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Each time I step foot into a supermarket I realize how fortunate I am that I don’t live here, because I’d probably be bankrupt within the first week or so from attempting to buy half the stuff in the market. I mean, LOOK AT THAT BEEF.
Tumblr media
Obon festival lanterns!
Tumblr media
I’ve been eating at this Yakiniku house all the time since I was a kid. Until recently, I haven’t been able to return to the village, so I did miss this place a lot. Up until today it has the best yakiniku I’ve ever eaten ;w; For the curious it’s called Chikumaya (千曲屋)!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’d probably make it a point to come by here every now and then! My favourite beef was the Karubi beef!
Tumblr media
Cozy Corner cake for supper!! I was so full that when I lay down on my back, I felt like a turtle
That night I saw a starry sky for the first time in my life!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[photo taken by my brother]. The phone camera quality does the scene no justice. But it was REALLY amazing, since all around, the silhouettes of the houses and mountains were actually blacker than the night sky. There were so many stars that the sky seemed more GREY than anything. The clouds also parted in a way that almost made it seem like there was a galaxy in the sky.
We counted loads of constellations, including Virgo, the Summer triangle, and we also probably saw Mars, Jupiter and Mercury or Venus. My brother studied astrology as a module in university, so he was telling me which constellations were which. And we sat there for hours by the roadside, just talking about how to read stars, which constellations were which etc. It was a really refreshing experience!
Tumblr media
[Photo by my brother] This gave me a lot of Totoro vibes (the part where the Catbus appeared for the first time while Satsuki and Mei were waiting for their dad)
Day 4: Travel to Ise
Tumblr media
The next day, we had to leave early, but my dad brought us to a place we frequented in our childhood since we had a bit of time. There was this mega-large slide which took approximately one minute for us to slide all the way down. We had to climb a large hill just to hitch one ride on it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We left for Sakudaira station after this to go to Tokyo for a transit to Kansai soon after, but I’m sure I’ll be back here before long!
There was a really long queue for this ramen shop in Tokyo station, so we decided to try it! Apparently, it’s quite famous! It’s called 六厘舎 (Rokurinsha), to those interested! The broth was really good! The egg tasted like it had alcohol in it, but my absolute favourite was the CHASHU.
Tumblr media
HARRY POTTER POP-UP STORE (anime style). I COULDN’T BELIEVE MY EYES. I wanted to take the entire stand home!!!! They had many of the popular characters, like Draco, the Marauders, and I think even Regulus Black! I was hoping to get Luna, but they didn’t sell her, so I settled for Hermione and Ron! I think the store owner was amused because I kept running back to the shop to buy new things
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CHARACTER STREET! I have come back for you. Since we only had about two hours before the next train ride, we couldn’t really explore anything in detail. So I decided to loiter in the Ghibli shop!
Tumblr media
This medal reacts to “Barus!” (words of destruction). The product makers have an interesting sense of humor
Tumblr media
The match boxes were AESTHETIC
Tumblr media
I WANT EVERYTHING
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were some OSomatsu-san stuff in one of the shops, but I didn’t have time to stay and look! ;w;
Tumblr media
Self control….. self control…..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[First photo by my brother]. I ate at Italian Tomato Cafe Jr.  a really long time ago at EON Mall (but that outlet has since disappeared), so I was happy to see it in Tokyo Station! Their shortcake was just as good as I remembered!
Tumblr media
Hoho. Komeda Coffee. I’ll be back for you one day…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of the things that fascinated me in Tokyo Station. Yes. That is a chandelier made up of kitkats, and that is PORK JERKY
Tumblr media
TIME TO GO TO  KANSAI! We hitched a ride on the Hikari bullet train! This one was slightly bumpier than the one we took to Sakudaira because of  the terrain. It was interesting because our ride took place along the Toukaidou, which connected Kyoto to old-time Edo (Tokyo). Apparently, Tokugawa created this system that made the feudal lords move from Kyoto (the emperor’s place) to Edo (Tokugawa’s residence), so the economy of Japan boomed along this area. Stuff like Woodblock art and Kabuki became famous along the road.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We passed by Shizuoka, and we suspect the mountain blocked by clouds is Mt Fuji!
Tumblr media
Well, if I can’t see Mt Fuji today I’ll just have to settle for the picture on this bottle
Tumblr media
We’ve hit Nagoya!
Tumblr media
We took another train to Ise! It seems like we’ll be travelling the entire day today! So I got a Café Latte to stay awake!
Tumblr media
On the way we passed by Tsu: a station with only one syllable
Tumblr media
The sky has become a lot prettier!
Tumblr media
By the time we’ve reached Ise it was evening! This place feels really mystical—all the street lamps had windchimes in them, so each time there was a breeze you get this really lovely chime in the air.  To the curious, Ise is where the shrine of Amaterasu (The God of the Sun) is located.
Tumblr media
My brother took a really nice photo of the lamps and the sunset, so I’m showing it off
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[last photo by my brother]. This is the first time I’ve ever eaten in an Izayakaya and I ordered…. ORANGE JUICE. But the food was super good! My personal favourite was the omelette! Everything tasted home-cooked and the bill was really cheap! For those interested, the restaurant is called とばっこ (Tobakko).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We stayed at a really neat AirBnB! The furniture was sparse (if you ignore our laundry), and it was at a very good location. Our hostess was really helpful in helping us to find places to visit as well!
Tumblr media
Found this in the nearby Family Mart! I would buy you if I lived here, Hijikata… At this moment I’m eating five meals almost every day..
Day 5: Ise Jingu
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We set off at 5am the next day I was near Death. From hereon we would repeat the cycle of waking up at 5-6am and arriving home at 11pm for the rest of the vacation. The good thing about it is that the streets are completely empty
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a nice walk to the shrine! One nice elderly man on a bicycle said “Good morning!” to us and that brightened my mood for the rest of the day!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[last photo by my brother] Here we are at 外宮Geku shrine! This one is dedicated to Toyoukeno Oomikami, who takes charge of Amaterasu Ookami’s food, clothing and shelter! The place was really quiet and serene. It felt a lot different from Meiji Jingu, which was always filled with people. There were multiple offering spots in the shrine, and the main gate bans us from taking photos. The vibe here is really mystical and it feels powerful
Tumblr media
We waited for a taxi to get to naiku! That’s Amaterasu Ookami’s shrine. The taxi on the sign looked like it was smiling. Our driver spoke in Kansai dialect – I was a little surprised to know that it’s not just the words, but the intonation had also changed!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was a lot bigger than Geku! Like Geku, we were forbidden from taking photos of the interior shrine. One of the offering places was to the Wind God, Fujin, who apparently helped to expel the Mongols from the Japan seas in the 13th century! There were more people here than at Geku, but it still had that really mystical aura. I might come here again when the weather is cooler!
Tumblr media
Well, since we left the house at 5.30am we were finished with Naiku by 11am HAH. We had lots of time to explore Oharai Machi, which is located right outside Naiku. But because of the hot weather, the fact that we didn’t eat breakfast,  and the little rest we had, I was about to drop dead at this point
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Oharai Machi used to be a purification and dance/singing centre dedicated to the Gods of Ise Shrine, but today you can find loads of food shops and goodies. The vibe of the place feels super retro and I love it! I caught one or two Halal shops that sell Japanese oden and kushi sticks!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[last photo by my brother] We ate some sweetened ice to cool down after the Naiku trip! They were really generous with the portions and their red bean snacks were DELICIOUS. I don’t usually like this sort of traditional sweets but I couldn’t stop myself from wolfing this down. The restaurant is called Akafuku (赤福) - at least, that’s what the signboard seems to say!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, I really like the aesthetic of this place. I live for street Udon tbh
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We chose to eat at Ise Udon Soba Okadaya (岡田屋)! A sparrow flew into the shop the moment it opened so I guess we were the second customers for the day lmao. THE UDON WAS REALLY REALLY GOOD. It had a really chewy and soft texture and it became more and more delicious the more you ate it; it was surreal. It didn’t taste like all the types of Udon I’ve eaten before. I’m so sad that I can only eat it in Ise and not where I live. I will definitely be back for more argh. 110% WILL RECOMMEND. It’s pretty cheap too and in my opinion, it’s best to eat it without too many toppings. Maybe just an egg with garnishes will do
(The store had a retro telephone booth)
Tumblr media
[Photo by my brother] We ate Matsusaka beef and ONE STICK COST 9USD. INSANE. But it was really good and chewy and I’ve never had better beef in my LIFE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okage Yokocho is an area in Oharai Machi! It looked a little bit like a festival! They had a rifling booth which I wanted to try, but I was trying to save money so I decided against it. Lots of fancy buildings here!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We went to Kaminogo Station because our host recommended another shrine! The weather made me feel like I was swimming in a volcano, but the clear skies make it worth it! I could take photos with my eyes closed and it’d still turn out pretty
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s a bit of what was inside of the shrine! It was significantly cooler in temperature than Naiku and Geku. There were bees buzzing around here and there. The walk was less intense than Naiku and Geku but I was starting to get tired around this time
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So we returned back to the apartment to pig out.
Tumblr media
Only for us to leave about two hours later so we can eat… AGAIN. The sky was really pretty. I guess one good thing about summer is that you get really pretty skies
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Guess what we’re having: Matsusaka BEEF! Apparently it’s one of the THREE BIG BEEF along with Oumi Beef and Kobe beef. Which means it’s expensive as hell but you only live once I guess. The restaurant was called Ishikawa 石かわ and it’s famous for Matsusaka Beef!
The restaurant had a really quaint feeling you would get from a sleepy little town. The chef pan fried the beef on a sizzling stove. I WISH I HAD A BIGGER PIECE. The beef was so chewy and the sauce was so good I made it a point to keep the meat in my mouth longer than necessary. The vegetables were also really fresh so it added to the taste! EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. This was probably one of my favourite things I ate along the entire trip. Top 3 for sure
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ise is just as mystical at night time!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aaaaaand we went to eat ramen for supper. This is the same restaurant as Tobakko, except it was a Ramen booth instead of an Izakaya. It had the roadside street stall feeling to it, and the ramen tasted really nostalgic! There was only one man running the shop so he must have been very busy
Day 6: Nara and travel to Osaka
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next day we woke up early to go to our host’s café! It was located deeper in the alley where the apartment was situated. I REALLY liked her decorations!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She cooked for us Ise Udon and many other side dishes like salad, omelette, and tofu pudding! It was REALLY cool because we were the only people in the café at that hour, so we could spend a lot of time chatting with her. I’ll miss this place and our hostess when we’re gone! ;w;
Tumblr media
We traveled to Nara on a one carriage train called Yamashiro Reccha! [photo by my brother] All the blinds were drawn so the carriage was dark and my dad kept making murder mystery jokes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WELCOME TO NARA. You can almost tell from the staircase what this place is famous for; I’ve never seen wild deers before in my life so I’m really excited!! Unlike Ise, Nara seems to be a town instead of a countryside, so the vibes are pretty different
Tumblr media
Here sells nothing but melon bread. I want to live in this stall
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Last photo by my brother] The tourist center recommended that we try 天丼まきの (Tendon Makino) for Tendon since it was a popular tourist destination. I swear to God, this is the BEST TENDON I’ve EVER eaten in MY LIFE. I’m not fond of octopus but I ate everything up in one go. There was a fried egg in the bowl you could crack open and spill all the yolk everywhere. Literally this is something I’d never get sick of. I could probably eat it everyday for the rest of my life.
Tumblr media
MISTER DONUT. I will have you one day….
Tumblr media
One of the stalls had a sparrow’s nest near its opening gate! While the sparrow chicks were cute as sin, I sort of pity the poor sparrow for making its nest in the middle of a tourist district
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We stopped by Kofuku-Ji Nan-en-dou 興福寺 on the way to Nara deer park! The architecture of the tower seemed really old! It seems there are lots of old buildings (dating to before 16th century) in Kansai
Tumblr media
A really nice looking hotel called 菊水楼Kiku-sui-rou. It seems they have a very high rating for their hospitality and their food!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We arrived at the gates of 春日大社(Kasuga Taishi)! And I SAW MY FIRST DEERS. I didn’t dare to approach them since I thought they would run off, but silly me, they were probably already accustomed to having people around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
More deer and shrine stuff! The deers are literally everywhere. And there are lots of tourists too! The awkward part was that there were tonnes of deer droppings everywhere, so you could step on them if you’re not careful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was a rest stop at the shrine, so we sat here to cool off a bit. Then this deer appeared out of nowhere and started sniffing my dad’s bag. He was sniffing every single human he came into contact with. Then he came up to me and began to sniff my plastic bag.
Tumblr media
THEN HE RIPPED IT APART AND ATE OUR MAP.
I hope it was at least a little bit nutritious but now we hae no directions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had ice-coffee and ice-cream at the rest stop after that!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So we walked down from the hill after that and played with some deers! This one kept following me. I’m sorry, I don’t have a biscuit for you but I can give you attention if you’d like!
Tumblr media
Deers crossing the road! And the bus gave way to them
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the way to 東大寺Toudaiji!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toudaiji houses the world's largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana. The statue was at least ten times taller than me without exaggeration!! I also really liked how old the building seemed to look! It seemed really ancient
Tumblr media
We headed out of the temple and this deer stuck his tongue out. What message are you trying to relay, friend?
Tumblr media
We returned to Nara station soon after that and took the train to Osaka! We’ve been taking so many trains that the JR Pass is adequately used!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
HELLOOOOO OSAKA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We arrived at our new AirBnB destination and I slept so soundly here!! Maybe it’s because I had my own room, but I love that we had the entire floor to ourselves! I also really liked the decorations she put all over the place! It’s really close to the station and Namba City so it was pretty convenient! Here’s the link if anyone is interested!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the time we reached Namba it was already rather late! So we scoured the place in a rush. There was a Takashimaya somewhere in there which sold nice cakes!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The store Rope Picnic sold lots of cute clothes at 70% off because of summer sale! I felt like I held myself back from spending money just for this moment!! I would be coming here repeatedly over the course of the next few days!
Tumblr media
Meanwhile my brother ate some Milk Ice-cream that’s so smooth it looks almost like a toy [photo by my brother]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We decided to eat at 百十Momojuu since it’s a crime to go to Osaka and not eat Okonomiyaki! That is, we ordered Monjayaki instead because we didn’t know there was a difference. THE BEST DISH WAS THE TONPEI (Omelette with meat inside)! The Okonomiyaki (second last picture) was not ours, but the cook accidentally placed it on our grill. Overall the meal was pretty affordable! If I were to go back to Osaka, I’d definitely come by here again.
(The air ventilators seemed to suck smoke up in the air, so people could smoke in the restaurant without bothering the other customers!)
Day 7: Kyoto
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some things I noticed and liked on my way to the station. Today we would be going to Kyoto. I haven’t been there since I was five but I remember bits and pieces of it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE ESCALATOR AT OSAKA STATION IS SO TRIPPY. Apparently people in Osaka seem to stand on the right hand side of the escalators rather than the left? That’s really interesting!
Tumblr media
The escalators in Kyoto station have handles which are actually decorated!
Tumblr media
We’ve reached the gates of the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine(伏見稲荷大社)! This one’s well known because of all the red gates and the impressive climb you need to take to the summit of the shrine. Inari is the God of rice, and you see lots of fox statues throughout the climb. Each of the gates have been donated by a Japanese businessman apparently.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seems that at each of the gates, the fox on the left has a scroll in its mouth, while the fox on the right has a ball.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Photos taken by my brother]. At the base, there were tons of people, but the numbers dwindled as we hit the summit. I had to stop at every rest stop because I was just that unfit! But the climb was good and hitting the summit made me feel healthy! One thing I was surprised about was how un-summit- like the summit seemed. We didn’t realize it was the summit until we had to climb down the  stairs on the opposite end of the hill!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Down we go!! My legs hurt. I probably won’t be able to stand tomorrow agh
Tumblr media
We reached the base and ate some oden and shaved ice to cool down! The lady in charge of the shop told us that tourists only came by Fushimi Inari about four to five years ago. It appears that the shrine was a pretty recent tourist destination!
Tumblr media
Eventually we headed back to Kyoto station and checked out the restaurants in Isetan! There was a restaurant which specialized ENTIRELY in omurice! Naturally, I was very excited!!
Tumblr media
...Though we ended up eating at永寿案 “Washoku” Restaurant Eijuan since we were at Kyoto!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They serve really fresh and delicious grilled fish dishes with tons of mini side dishes on the tray. The restaurant is also located on the top floor of the shopping center so you’re treated to a killer view of Kyoto! For Washoku, this restaurant is pretty affordable and the quality of the food is really good! It’s something to look for if you like light meals :’) The service staff were also really helpful in helping us to find places we can visit in Kyoto.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We took a bus from the station and headed to Kiyomizudera Temple! We have to walk up a hill again but thankfully it wasn’t as insane as Fushimi Inari. We did a lot of walking today and my legs are tired
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SCENIC
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We paid about 400 yen to see the rest of the temples, but I thought it was really worth it! Most of the trees in the mountain change colours really quickly when it hits autumn, but for now all the trees are green since it’s summer. The view is really breathtaking and worth the climb!
Tumblr media
It was a long way down from the temple, but there was a shopping district with aesthetic houses nearby!!
Tumblr media
I’m marrying this Ice cream melon soda shake you’re invited to our wedding
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TOTORO SHOP KYOTO STYLE. I LIVE
Tumblr media
This No-Face Piggy Bank will EAT YOUR MONEY so WATCH OUT
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some other things that caught my eye!
We took the bus to Gion-Shinbashi next! Gion’s the Geiko district with lots of Geiko and Maiko (geiko apprentice) running about!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The street is really pretty! I think you can’t enter any of these shophouses since they usually cost a bomb to go into. Lots of the second-storeys of the houses are covered with some sort of curtain. I wonder why
Tumblr media
I MANAGED TO CATCH SOME MAIKOS
Tumblr media
Before they boarded a taxi
I wonder if they’re used to tourists gawking at them each time we pass them by..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s a Lipton café at Kyoto station I don’t believe my eyes
I wanted to eat here but our train is departing soon!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We’ve arrived back at Namba!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don Quijote is going to be my best friend for the rest of my days
Tumblr media
There’s literally an alcohol called “Do your best, Daddy!” I can’t stop laughing
Tumblr media
In the end, we decided to eat at a Yakiniku store since Osaka seems to specialized in grilled and pan-fried foods! We ate at牛角 Gyuu-Kaku, which is apparently expensive where I live, but pretty cheap here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[second last photo by my brother]. The meat was really good! I swear everything we’ve eaten on this trip is good. The dish in the last picture was especially good—they put some sort of cotton candy and boiled the meat in sauce, and the cotton candy just melted into the sauce after that. I have no idea how it works. All I know is that it was GREAT
Tumblr media
THEY HAVE GRILLED MELON BREAD WITH ICE CREAM. I went to town on this one. You grill the melon bread, cut it open and shove ice-cream into it. It’s SO GOOD I can die. This is the highlight of my trip
Tumblr media
Then we ate takoyaki after that! We eventually headed back to Don Quijote for grocery shopping
Tumblr media
ATTACK ON NOSE HAIR
Tumblr media
We had dessert when we went home again! This one came from CRAMERCY New York!
Day 8: Osaka
My dad went to 高野山Koya-san while we rested at home for the day. Apparently, it was first built by monk 空海Kukai, who founded the Japanese calligraphic system! Here are some of the pictures he took!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apparently, you would sit on a monorail that wasn’t shaped horizontally to get to the top of the mountain like you see in the last picture! It seemed really cool!
Tumblr media
Guess what we had for breakfast the next day!!
1.       Cake
2.       Cake
3.       Cake
Tumblr media
I can’t believe they made Takoyaki cream puffs and sold it in Takashimaya
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We headed to Namba City and ate a buffet meal at GOOD SPOON! I really enjoyed the décor of this place. Apparently it specialized in Italian food, especially their cheeses! The huge bag on the bolognaise in the fourth picture is in fact a huge chunk of cheese! Honestly, everything we’ve eaten on the trip has been really worth it and delicious!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On our way to Osaka Tower!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There seems to be tons of Billiken motifs in the tower. He was dreamt up by an American artist, and is said to bring good luck!
Tumblr media
A scene from Osaka tower! Apparently you can see Universal Studios here somewhere!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The history of this place seems a little interesting. Apparently it was built and opened in 1912 along with the amusement park, Luna Park, which included arcades and rides. Unfortunately the original Tsutenkaku and Luna Park burned down in the 1940s, but they rebuilt it under Hitachi in 1956, so the tower is still around today!
Tumblr media
The Tower also hosts the Glico museum! Glico was the company which made Pocky!
Tumblr media
I’m honestly scared of how much weight I’m going to put on
Tumblr media
Eventually we headed back to Namba Area as a cut through to Dotonbori!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[last photo by my brother] Doutonbori has so many lighted billboards I LOVE IT. The giant crab in the first picture actually MOVES. It reminds me of Tokyo a little, but has more of a night life feeling to it! Lots of shops that I love here, but I only had four hours to run through the place before everything closed!
There was a festival taking place along the river while we were there
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We eventually went to eat Kushiyaki at だるまDaruma because that’s another thing Osaka is famous for! It was really good! My favourite dish was the Dotemiso and the quail eggs! So far, it seems like Tokyo has a larger variety of food, but Kansai’s food is more flavorful!
Tumblr media
Gintama sale at Marui. I’ll patronize your store another time, Elizabeth….
Day 9: Kobe
Tumblr media
We’ve arrived at Kobe! The weather was CRAZY HOT today! I really like the port towns in Japan since they seem to have a lot of delicious Western food, history and architecture! It reminds me a lot of Yokohama in a way! Plus it’s located on a hillside facing the ocean, just the sort of thing I like!
Tumblr media
We went ahead and took the Kobe City Bus! It looked really fancy and there was an announcer giving us a rundown of the historical importance of the routes we were taking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our first stop was Ijinkan! AKA the street with all the old Western houses that rich foreigners used to live in or use for their recreational activities! The street here was REALLY pretty! Since Kobe was a hill, we would have to climb around to get to just anywhere. The England House apparently had a Sherlock Holmes exhibition on the second floor, and I could see Watson’s silhouette through the curtains!
Tumblr media
We bought the tickets to go to the Trick House! Albert Einstein greeted us from the window it was surreal
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many art pieces would look REALLY TRIPPY if you took a photo with a person in it, but I’m camera shy. Here are just some of the exhibits which don’t require you a person to be in the picture. The third one was probably my favourite since it looks like a mirror but actually isn’t! They arranged two rooms to look perfectly symmetrical and you could only tell if a person is walking on the other side. It’s a lot like that one room in the Witch’s House…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You have paintings like these too.
Tumblr media
It was fun to walk on air :^)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we had to climb a steep hill to Uroko House!! It was a struggle in the hot weather but at this point I’m so used to sweating. I wonder how the staff come here to work everyday…
Tumblr media
Kobe tiles!!
Tumblr media
Uroko House! …..’s café
There’s a wild boar in front of it called Porcellino which brings good luck if you touch its nose! I kept getting distracted by its name because of Porco Rosso’s nickname…
Tumblr media
The REAL Uroko house! Apparently they named the house as such because the tiles used to decorate the mansion look like scales (uroko). This house used to be luxury rental houses for wealthy foreigners. The exhibits include not only the rooms, but also antique utensils, tableware, and a small art museum!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If I were a doll and these houses are completely furnished I’d live in them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of the stuff we ate in the café! I really liked the ice-cream. We accidentally spilled our drink and the waitress was nice to refill it for us for free
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are some of my favourite rooms!! I’m glad I came here. It looks a lot like the dollhouse in The Secret World of Arrietty
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The view and some of the nice artworks in the museum!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now we’re off to Yamate 8Ban Kan
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yamate 8Ban Kan! It’s oriented to the sea with trapezoidal bay windows in a row. Inside the building, the “Saturn’s chair” which is believed to grant your wishes if women sit on the right and men on the left. I was having a stomachache so I might have wasted my wish by wishing it to be gone
Tumblr media
FUJIKO MINE CLORETS! I love her she’s such a role model
Tumblr media
Now we’re going to try Kobe Beef at Steak Land! While we were taking a lift to the restaurant, a man stumbled into the elevator with us. We suspected that it might have been someone important since the restaurant continued to serve him after its closing hours
Tumblr media
I’M SO EXCITED!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE BEEF WAS REALLY GOOD! They cooked the vegetables first and saved the beef and beansprouts for last!! I can’t help but think that everything that we’ve eaten on this trip was really delicious! As far as Kobe beef goes, this was one of the more affordable options!
Tumblr media
SCORCHING SUMMER SUN. You can see how hot it is. I could write a song about how much the weather makes one suffer
Tumblr media
We continued to take a bus trip around and passed by the maritime museum! I didn’t manage to go in this time, but there will always be future trips that I can plan for :P
Tumblr media
Kobe is so scenic!!
Tumblr media
Nishimura’s Coffee looks really fancy and I really like the exterior décor despite not eating inside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We headed to Mosaic Mall! Which seemed to be an outdoor shopping centre!
Tumblr media
We meet again, Donguri Garden.
Tumblr media
SMILING TOTORO BAG. How can something so perfect exist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My brother tried some chocolate ice-cream from Frantz! Though I didn’t manage to try it to tell if it was good or not
Tumblr media
We took the bus back to Kobe station and headed to Namba again!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY FIRST CREPE ON THE TRIP. I have found you at last
Tumblr media
I seem to come across a lot more kittens than full grown cats while I’m in Namba, but this brave warrior didn’t seem afraid in the midst of all the people walking around.
Tumblr media
Lmao R18 gacha-gachas
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We headed back to Namba City for dinner! There’s this shop called C3 Baked Tiramisu which is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I’m not sure if you can find it in Tokyo but this is hands down the best Tiramisu I have ever eaten in my entire life. We bought a dozen back home to finish
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MIX FRUIT JUICE SHAKE IS GREAT! I should make this on my own next time! It probably had mango and orange inside, maybe even pineapple, but I’m not too sure
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eventually we headed to Shabu Nabe Udon Noraya のらや, which specialized in Udon and Shabu-Shabu. I had the Udon and tempura set while my brother and mother shared the Pork Shabu Shabu. HOW CAN SUCH A PINK PORK EXIST. I guess the reason why the food here’s so great is because of the quality of the ingredients as well. I really like non-greasy food so this has to be one of my top 3 meals in the entire trip! Definitely would recommend this! And it’s pretty affordable as well. They are really generous with the portions!
Tumblr media
We had more cakes for supper
 Day 10: Leaving Japan
Tumblr media
Tiramisu for breakfast! It’s over so soon and I don’t want to leave Osaka so soon ;w;
Tumblr media
We stopped by Tully’s Coffee at Osaka station and my mother tried a pancake! It would take a few hours before we reach Tokyo…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had lunch at 矢場とんYabaton  at Tokyo Station!! The Pork cutlet was really good since they cooked it with their own miso! The staff were really nice too! They helped to warm up my food since I took such a long time to eat because of my stomachache ;w;
Tumblr media
We took a Monorail to Haneda Airport! I didn’t know that monorails would tilt to the side when they turned!
Tumblr media
Might that be rainbow bridge?
Tumblr media
Amuro Tooru seems to be really popular in Japan now! It’s probably because of the new Detective Conan movie in Japan but he’s always been intriguing! I hope they release more on his backstory soon.
Agghh I don’t want to leave but I will definitely be back
Tumblr media
The sky was really pretty! Overall the ride was way better than the initial one, since much of the rainy season has cleared up. I actually managed to sleep so that was impressive!
Tumblr media
It’s good to be back!!
I guess on the whole Kansai has a pretty different vibe from central Tokyo. Both had their fair share of cultural landmarks and city areas, but Kansai used to house the really old capital of Japan, so they had much older monuments compared to Tokyo. Osaka’s city also seems to be a lot more night life-ish compared to my experience with Tokyo! In terms of food, I’d say that Tokyo has more variety, but I really think Osaka’s food has more flavour. Literally everything I’ve eaten on this trip is delicious and worthy of a recommendation!
On the other hand, I’m really proud of myself since I managed to control myself from overspending this trip :^)
If you make it a point to visit the cultural landmarks instead of going to shop, you really can save a lot of money when travelling in Japan! There are also many more Halal food options compared to what I’ve seen last year, so it should be possible to find good Japanese food for those who have to adhere to a religious diet!

GOODNESS GRACIOUS. THERES SO MUCH TO UPDATE fdjsaklf Reason being- I only like to post from my laptop. Fuck texting all this text. lmao
07/23/21: Dad's Karaoke/Girls night/Amy Winehouse tribute night RIP Amy. 10 years. wow. We miss you. We celebrated this icon by attending one of the many live tribute shows in our city. Who is "we"? Well a random group of girls who decided to get together cause one mutual friend was depressed af and needed us, that's who! Our mutual friend had posted something along the lines of wanting a hot girl hang out, cause she was depressed. Before she could react, me and another one of her friends came together and created a group chat to plan a get together. It was lovely and wholesome. 10/10 would do again.
After the tribute event, we decided we wanted to continue our hang out, but that we needed something a little more lively. (Pun not intended, RIP Amy!!) I recalled a passenger of mine (I'm a personal driver) mentioning that he hosted Karaoke at a place called "Dad's" so I brought up the idea of attending to the girls and they loved it. There was four of us total, and we all looked stunning, ofc. I sang "wanna be" by the spice girls after getting a feel of the crowd. I was drunk, but from what I remember, everyone absolutely loved it.
OMG but something crazy happened. Crazy at least to me. There was a guy doing karaoke when we arrived. He sang 1985 by Bowling for Soup, and I was just jammin' along while recording a snap cause he was just so into it and it was golden. He looked right at me and pointed into my camera and was all about being recorded. NGL, he was so cute. Anyways. I couldn't shake the feeling that I knew him from somewhere, and no- it wasn't just cause I thought he was cute and I thought we had a connection. I kept looking at him (probably seeming very creepy), and I just couldn't put my finger on it. Finally towards the end of the night, a name popped into my head (which is insane cause I have a SHIT memory). Edward. *Eye roll* NO, not twilight Edward. When I brought it up to the girls, that's what they instantly thought, and they assumed I was calling him my like... soulmate(?) or something. I don't know. But this guy, who I assume is named Edward, and I used to attend the same middle school (if it is indeed the guy I think it is.) What's even more insane is that, if I'm not mistaken, he has a little sister with my first name! I was too enthralled trying to figure out who he was while trying not to seem creepy (and probably failing) to ask him anything about himself. Didn't help that he was sitting with a gorgeous woman who totally intimidated me. Anyways, I never got to ask who he was, and all I have is that snapchat video of him saved on my phone (again, like a fucking creep). Edward, if you're out there... I love you.
JK
After karaoke, I drove my gf home. Almost peed my pants from drinking so much water, but made it to a convenient store before my bladder burst :) We stopped to get some tacos (ofc.) and then made it to her place safe and sound. When we arrived, her pal was there chillin' with her little sister. His name is John, and he's apparently really cool but I don't really know him like that. When I first met him, my gf was trying to hook us up, I think. She just said things like "He's single, you're single... it'd be really cool if two of my best friends dated." and shit like that. But like.. I don't know if he's my type. Politically, we're polar opposite, that's for sure. I'm a goof ball, and he doesn't like comedy movies... hahaha I don't know if those two things are even related but like... I don't know. SO ANYWAYS, we walk in, and I'm telling you, we look hot. My friend always looks hot tho, so the only one who really changed was me. And John made it a point to tell me. He said I looked "swanky" and when I asked what it meant, the way he described it was like it was a step above classy. I was flattered to say the least.
07/30/21 Kansas trip with my aunt Irma My cousin Ruben was going to be getting married on the 31st, my aunt was going to drive up to Kansas from Texas with her brother and his wife. However, as luck would have it, her brother's wife ended up falling ill. He was still willing to take her, but she felt that he should stay in town with his ill stricken wife so that in case anything happened to her, my aunt couldn't be to blame for taking her brother a way at a time of need. So because he wasn't going to be able to drive her, she called me up and asked me to do the deed. I thought it would just be me and her, but it ended up being me and her and her grandson.
The trip was pretty cool minus the fact that the very small town we stayed in had very limited food options, and for a vegetarian almost none. Getting there was no issue, but on the way back, my aunts grandson made me wanna bash my head into my steering wheel. I've never met anyone so disrespectful or ungrateful in my life. That's all I wanna say about that.
Lets talk about the wedding. My cousin that got married was unofficially adopted by a nice rich white family in Kansas. His mother was very grateful that this family had taken him in because they provided opportunities for my cousin that she simply would not have been able to as an impoverished single parent. At the wedding, I met this family. I was introduced to the three biological sons (all of whom were handsome). I had my eye on the oldest one (not seriously though, cause.. I live in Texas), but by the end of the night, I swear their mother was trying to hook me up with her youngest son. I drank and danced and had so much fun, I even ended up befriending the girlfriend of the oldest son that I had my eye on :p
The trip was 11 hours one way, so 22 in total. Plus, going to visit my now married cousin's brother who lives 3 hours from where we were staying, two separate occasions (a total of 12 hours). In total, I drove 34 hours in one weekend. *cries internally*
08/03/21 Photo Editing Photo editing is definitely going to have to wait till tomorrow (it's Currently midnight, so later today?) cause I'm so dang exhausted. I just wanted to journal a little cause the trip really took a lot out of me. I didn't realize how big of an impact talking about my life would have, even if it's just on a website that no one is ever going to look at.
I will be editing some photos I took of a local band, and I'm really excited to send those to them. I'm not a professional photographer, I wouldn't even say I'm an amateur photographer, cause photographers have skills and certifications and know how to edit. I simply crop and occasionally fix the colors, but nothing major like photoshop.
These poor guys in this local band have been waiting months for their photos and I simply suck at remember to get shit done, so here I am months later up at midnight talking about how I'm going to eventually send the pics to them. ha! I don't know what else to say on this topic without making me look like even scummier scum, so I'm going to leave it at that. Goodnight, Tumblr. Try not to judge me too hard :(

Survey #53
“easy to be sleazy when you’ve got a filthy mind.”
what's the last movie you watched on your own?   i couldn't tell you.  i don't watch movies on my own, it's boring. what about the last movie you watched with another person?   chelsea and i had "gbf" on netflix, but we didn't really watch it. what about the last movie you saw at the cinema? was it good?   colleen, chelsea, and i saw "trolls" for a buck.  it was SOOOO cute. do you attend school, college, or uni?   an art university, yeah. what do you study, wherever you study?   digital photography. kisses on the cheek or the neck?   cheek if you wanna be casual, but neck kisses if you want me to rip your fucking clothes off lmao. how do you earn your keep?   i don't work.  i'm ashamed of it, but i don't and can't work like a "normal" human being.  i'm trying to find a job with my very limiting criteria, but it's not easy, at all.  i doubt i'll ever have a proper job until i can be a freelance photographer. if you could speak three different languages fluently, what would they be?   GERMAN, latin, and ummm... i mean i guess spanish, because it'd be most convenient to me. who do you usually text the most?   my mom or my best friend colleen. shaved legs or shaved arms?   legs.  i don't shave my arms. fried, poached, boiled or scrambled eggs?   i like scrambled and cheesy eggs. have you ever been surprised with breakfast in bed?   no.  it'd be nice at least once. have you always got good grades?   from elementary all the way through high school, yeah.  i'm struggling in college... list four things about your facial appearance:   i have blue eyes, glasses, no freckles, and a piercing on the right side of my nose. list four things about your general appearance:   i'm overweight because fuck heartbreak, i'm white, i have no ass, and i have large breasts. list four things you like about yourself:   i'm passionate as fuck, i honestly think i have good morals, i'm loyal, and very understanding. list four things you dislike about yourself:   i'd kill for one man, i'm jealous to the point of hatred, i overreact to literally everything, i can't socialize, you want me to go on? this quiz is pretty different to others, right?   lmao you ruined it cats or dogs?   while i personally find felines to be more interesting as animals, i prefer dogs as pets. are you hungry right now?   no.  my appetite pill is actually working. what do you think of couples who have entire albums just for them, with pictures of them just randomly at home, doing nothing that really requires a photo?   lmao i was one of those people, i love it!  document your story!  it's beautiful! can you work the washing machine?   ... no.  embarrassing, right.  idk what settings to put it on. do you like your photo being taken?   NO.  other people don't know how to flatter my face. do you like taking photos of yourself?   i mean, i'm a photographer, so every now and again. next gig you're going to?   who knows?  i'd like to go to the carolina rebellion this year, BADLY, but money is such an issue in my family. favorite color?   maroon, baby. when do you plan on moving out?   when i'm with a significant other.  i used to believe i could live on my own in an apartment or something, but no.  depression would consume me entirely. is there someone in your life you wish you never met?   of course there is.  jabari, who tried raping my sister right in front of me, for one.  dustin, ashley's ex, who did nothing but break her heart and abuse her.  there are more.  i personally don't believe everyone comes into one's life for a reason. who/what is your favorite cartoon character?   i don't really know.  i like garfield.  and courage the cowardly dog. what do you think of your mother?   she's very supportive, loving, funny, rational, and serves as my rock.  i'd be lost as fuck if i didn't have my mom.  just sometimes, she thinks she knows more than she does about me. your father?   i love him so much and i live in constant regret about hating him for so many years.  i wish i'd burned that letter i wrote him in opposition of actually sending that shit, because i wonder all the time if he still thinks about what i told him.  he'd do anything for me, and i hope i can repay him for that one day. your siblings (if there are any)?   tiffany: i don't know you, but i wish i did.  misty: you're great, and i miss you.  katie: you confuse me, but i still love you and hope you're okay.  bobby: hey now, you're an all-star.  seeing you with christian lights up my whole world.  i hope i'm half the parent you are some day.  ashley: we're too much alike in an odd way.  you've been through so much, yet you've come so far as a person.  i mean jesus christ, you're a radiologist!  and to know you were once suicidal, that's so inspirational to me.  you have a husband who loves you, even after, like me, believing you could never love another.  you have two beautiful children who love you so much, but i wonder if they can ever love you like i do.  nicole: i worry about you.  you need to leave that damn boy, he's not good enough for you, and he is going to drag you down.  you're too big and bold a person to be chained.  i worry about your happiness quotient as long as he's around, but regardless, i know you're going to go pretty damn far. how many hours do you spend online a day?   i don't really know, but i can't say i care too much.  i don't get why people treat the internet like it's so horrible.  like, let's think about it.  most people, when they have nothing better to do, what do they do?  they watch television.  i sit on the computer instead.  at least i'm engaging my brain. explain your current feelings for your last ex bf/gf:   i'm entirely aware i'm more than in love with him, i'm obsessed with him.  you ain't truly been in love until it gets that far, hunny. how do you feel about teen relationships?   they're fine?  they can lead to a forever relationship. who’s room of the opposite sex were you in last? when?   uhhh.  my dad's and his wife's when i was passing through to go take a shower. what are your views on homosexuals in general?   they're just as human as a heterosexual, if not more open-minded as half the heterosexual populace has issue with them. do you and any of your friends have a "song?"   ha ha ha, yeah.  colleen and i say our "song" is that country piece called "friends" by ummm... blake shelton, i think?  it's such a cutesy song, and when she first showed it to me, she said it made her think of us.  i hate country, yet i still jam out with her every time we hear it. (: which is more important to you - friends or family?   family.  who says some friends can't be family? which is worse - smoking, drinking, or drugs?   drugs.  easily.  allow me to also clarify, alcohol is a drug, so drinking is pretty equal?  nicotine is a drug too, right? is there one person you would seriously kill if you could get away with it?   um.  only if i wouldn't feel guilty.  which i would. what is the last scary movie that actually scared you?   the only scary movie to ever scare me is "the rite."  only because it played with an irrational fear of mine: being impregnated by satan or a demon in general.  i'm afraid of pregnancy period, but the idea of it being the devil's child and it ripping out of your fucking stomach like can you not what are you listening to?   "gospel" by panic! at the disco.  i love his voice in this song so fucking much.  them high notes in the chorus, tho. what is something you and your significant other do that may seem weird to others?   i'm single. how long have you liked the person you like right now?   five years how many shots can you take?   i've never taken a shot before, and truly, i don't really want to.  i mean i'm sure i will at some point, i just don't have the desire to because i hate the taste of alcohol, and shots are so concentrated. what's a fact about the last person you kissed?   he just turned 23. do you think you're old?   no, shame i feel it, though. are you a jealous person?   in general?  actually, no.  i only get jealous when it comes to jason. when is the next time you will kiss someone?   you tell me. has anybody ever accused you of doing drugs?   i don't think so. do you have a passion for anything?   meerkats!!  photography!!  silent hill and gaming in general!!  rhett and link/gmm!!  heavy metal!! are you a romantic person?   i honestly think i am. what do you think of when i say "lumberjack?"   lmao omg the first thing that came to mind was rhett singing and dancing to the song he made up on the high-heeled lumberjack challenge on gmm. how many children do you want?   one-three.  one if childbirth/pregnancy was way too much, two is most likely, three is a big maybe. do you like mexican food?   nope. do you have a favorite author?   not really. do you have an ex who still talks to you? do they want to be with you again?   if juan even counts, yeah, we talk like what, less than even once a month.  he's made it apparent he wants to be with me again, but pretty sure he's a player, so. do your legs get really itchy after shaving them?   christ, yeah.  my left leg got so itchy once after shaving that i have a large scar going up my shin from scratching it so badly.  even putting lotion on didn't help. do you wear a ring on your finger?   yeah, a ruby/garnet/whatever ring on my right ring finger.  i just put it on permanently the other day.  i got it for christmas. have you ever thought about getting your nose pierced?   it is pierced.  i've thought of taking it out in favor of getting the septum pierced though, but i changed my mind. have you kissed anyone with a tattoo before?   no, but a guy with a tattoo has kissed me. which berry is your favorite?   strawberries, definitely. have you ever tried to learn a foreign language?   i took four semesters of german. would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?   lake. do you love seeing frost hanging off leaves in the winter?   omg yaaass would you ever like to own a chandelier?   hell yeah.  i'm big on those creepy octopus chandeliers. when is the last time you went to a carnival?   oh fuck me.  last time i went to a carnival/festival one night was over a year ago with jason and dillon.  i went on a ride i was terrified of (jason was a bit iffy too; he doesn't like heights), and dillon made a self-mutilation joke that nearly ruined the whole night. how many notebooks do you own? are they all filled?   oh jeez.  LOADS.  i have a drawer filled with 'em... i wanna throw them out though.  really old, embarrassing writings. have you ever lived on a university campus?   no. what’s your favorite alcoholic beverage?   mike's hard, i guess.  not like i've tried many. when was the last time you saw a photo of your ex?   long-ish time ago.  i have a picture from our prom beside my bed, but it's buried beneath papers.  so probably the last time i checked his facebook months ago. do you “binge-watch” tv shows?   haven't done that since "sherlock" with jason. do you play any games on your phone?   not anymore.  i had pokemon go, but i had to get rid of it after i ran out of room on my phone, despite having deleted every other app but pinterest and my period tracker.  not like it's really a fun game for rural players, anyway.  you never have pokeballs because pokestops don't exist. have you ever shaved your face?   no.  i mean i've waxed my eyebrows and lip and plucked stray hairs on my chin, but never shaved it. what was the last vaccination you got?   no idea.  probably for an std, y'know, those shots you get as a teenager. how long does it usually take you to get over a break up?   lmao been a year and a handfull of months, still not over it. do you get motion sickness?   nope. do you often forget what you were just about to say?   always.  makes me feel stupid. how many blue-eyed people have you kissed?   none. do you have a friend named holly?   i knew a holly in elementary school, but she was never my friend. what are your parents' middle names?   marie and john. does frequent use of swear words offend or upset you?   not at all, because i don't believe in our definition of "profanity."  who honestly gives a valid fuck about whether a word is "bad" or not.  what makes a word "bad," anyway?  however, i do believe in harmful words that i don't like hearing.  like, calling someone a bitch, to me, is just as bad as calling someone a mean person.  because they mean the same thing.  what makes "bitch" worse?  also, i hate derogatory terms to certain groups, like "the 'n' word" for black people.  otherwise, "swear" all you want, i really don't care. when/where did you meet your first love?   well, to be technical, facebook.  i thought he was a jason i did know, so i accepted his friend request.  thank god i did.  he wanted to be my friend to begin with because he saw me in the hallway at school and, according to him, he thought immediately, "that girl's going to save me."  he remembers exactly what I was wearing, everything.  how he found my facebook, i guess i should probably wonder, lol.  it's so funny, how he claims i was going to save him.  and now i'm the one who needs him.  funny shit. how many facebook friends do you have?   uhhhh 126, i think? which one of your relatives are you most likely to argue/disagree with?   MY GRANDMA HOLY FUCK have your parents met the person you're currently interested in?   yes, they have. who was your first major crush?   i'm not entirely sure.  maybe this kid named dylan? do you still talk to that person?   haven't in well over a decade.  lmao wait, did i ever even talk to him?  i just thought he was super cute. is there anything you need to do, that you're trying to avoid doing?   yeah.  i hate late homework. do you have any drinking cups with disney characters on them?   we haven't for years.  well, wait.  we may still have some. will you be moving anytime soon?   probably.  we were supposed to get evicted because mom can't afford the rent, yet we're still here.  but our landlord won't be merciful forever; mom still can't pay for it. have you ever written a book?   gasoline. what’s your least favorite thing about summer?   everything?  can i say everything??? have you ever wanted to vlog?   not really.  i lead a boring life and i am WAY too shy and awkward. do you have any of the guitar heroes/rock bands?   it's boring and lonely. how many relationships have you been in?   one legitimate one.  one puppy-love.  one misunderstanding that lasted less than a day. what’s something you do that really frustrates people who are closest to you?   i can be VERY passive and submissive.  like, ask me what i wanna do?  "i don't care."  wanna do this, brittany?  "if you want to."  is this fine for dinner, brittany?  "sure, if you feel like making it."  colleen HATES this about me. do you care what people think?   honestly?  no. what eyeshadow color suits you best?   black, baby. in regards to kissing, full on making-out or will a peck suffice?   depends on where we are and how passionate we're feeling. are you a ke$ha fan?   no. how short is too short for shorts/skirts?   please at least keep your full ass covered. have you even swam in a lake? did you freak out about the germs, afterwards?   i have, and not particularly. have you ever snuck-out to see a guy?   no. lil' wayne, hopsin, kanye west, or kid cudi?   i don't particularly like any of them, but there is a song by hopsin that makes me laugh. have you ever questioned your mental health?   i'm not questioning it, i've accepted it. when you go to the beach, are you swimming, tanning, playing, or searching for shells?   swimming and looking for shells! do you wash your hair every day?   no, that's bad for you. do you have long eyelashes?   my old english teacher stopped class just to point out they were once lmao.

Episode 24: An Encounter With Ayame of Ends
ENDS is a group I've been familiar with and even had the opportunity to meet once upon a time in Las Vegas. Among the members I've met, Ayame was one of the those present. As much as he is hardworking and talented, Ayame has to be one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. There is a lot to Ayame, and he's given me the opportunity to discuss his progress with singing on tracks, how he started getting into photography, and his own feelings regarding meeting fellow members of ENDS in Las Vegas. Below is out interview, and be sure to show both Ayame and ENDS some love. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
RH: Who is Ayame, as both an independent artist and member of ENDS?
A: Aside from a singer/rapper, I'm a lot of things. I'm a camera man, photographer, video editor, and sometimes graphic artist. In reality, i'm just a guy who enjoys creating in any way possible. As far as being a member of ENDS I feel the bloodstream of a lot of my family in there. To me personally, I feel a genuine connection and I can almost feel their souls in a way. I want to say I'm their shoulder to lean on or so to speak. The type of person to pick up others when their down I suppose.
RH: What made you decide to involve yourself as a music artist in the underground? Would you say your work has evolved since you began?
A: So I began trying to rap in 2012 when I first got out of high school. All my friends were doing it and I wanted to be a part of something. I was ASS *laughs* I would basically freestyle over Lil Wayne or B.o.B beats *laughs* tragic all of those were lost. My work most definitely has changed since I began. I would say my style has really evolved at an insane rate. Starting off I really was sort of screaming. Now I sing a lot more then I ever thought I would. Seeing some of my idols doing new things and changing music itself really pushed me to be better to get more creative. It's been the first steps into the deep end that I really began to start swimming.
RH: Was singing ever previously not in your plans as an artist? Would you say you went through an adjustment process with singing?
A: I wouldn’t say I never saw myself doing it because I always thought I could, but it’s more like I’m surprised how much better I’m getting about doing it. I think I’m learning to sing specifically because of auto tune which I use extensively but that’s helping me more and more with finding how to sing and stuff. There was a whole adjustment because I’ve never done anything musically before. I’ve had some drums when I was in school but I was never really like let me be the front man let me sing my lungs out. It’s been a soul searching experience to find a singing voice it’s not easy and I’m still trying to find it everyday.
RH: I'm happy you constantly work on yourself man. I know it's been a hell of a long time ago, but what did you make of Vegas, and having been in the same room as Fury and LeftHandLuck? What would you say you took away from that experience?
A: I took a lot away from it really. I think above all after the performance I told myself I had to treat myself as an artist better rather then just being a support kind of guy. I started to see my worth a little more after that trip realizing that I’m doing something right and I have proof really showed me that I can do this I have the ability and capacity to pursue it and no one was going to stop me. Vegas was a life changing experience to say the least. Seeing Fury and Left together and just be able to have a conversation face to face instead of through a screen was kind of incredible. I’ve never had something like this work so well before, it felt like pieces were clicking for once and I couldn’t believe it.
RH: I remember you taking a lot of pictures out in Las Vegas, so it makes me wonder: what made you begin to take photography seriously?
A: I’ve loved taking photos since I was in middle school. It’s just a love to do it really. I think I get it from my grandpa honestly, he was also a big camera guy. He took hundreds of photos had a video camera the whole nine yards. I think his love of that really rubbed off on me and kinda blossomed into what it is now. I want to pursue it so much more then I am currently, but I’m a pretty shy person about it and well I never got the time anymore with working on music and other stuff. It’s been kind of back seated sadly for now. I plan to revisit more during the winter and hopefully fall but it’s never a guarantee as you may well know.
RH: I really hope to see you continue your photography man. Do you have any plans with your music currently?
A: Plans are hard to follow haha. I got a sort of EP in the works called Infection vol. 1 but it’s kinda on hold at the moment. So nothing else really, just plugging away singles.
RH: I may be out of the loop on this, but are you still associated with Zealot$ by any chance?
A: Yes actually I am still a part of Zealot$ as a member! I have a collab coming with Heretic and Savic soon!
RH: Who or what would you say motivates and inspires you to keep making music?
A: Some of my inspirations have a sort of wide variety. First ever inspiration was Travis Scott. I think at the time I never heard anything like what he was doing. He was really the first artist to get me to feel something in my soul and heart. I gravitate to his music and whole aesthetic a lot as well. I think as an artist he’s a genius and it’s inspiring. Second big inspiration in my life was Lil Peep. Peep truly showed me how to do the singing over guitar beats thing. Hellboy is my favorite project and I think I’ve taken more away from that then I ever thought possible. He was truly ahead of the curve when it came to his style, he was changing music and everything. I really loved it all. Rest In Peace Peep. Eric North is another giant inspiration of mine. I think out of every artist I’ve heard he’s the one who can make music I’ve always wanted to hear. I think Decomposition Of A Slave is one of the best tracks ever made. He’s fantastic at combining the emotions and sounds to the words he says. I don’t know how but I feel like I can feel those emotions every time he makes a song. Truly one of a kind. There’s more like everyone in ENDS and Zealot$ of course. Some others are like Vision4k, Uzi, Killstation, Tool, Sevendust, Gorillaz, Bones, Pantera and all of stuff like that. I’m not just influenced by hip hop either. Sevendust is my favorite metal band of all time I think they also left a huge impact on me musically same with Tool too. All in all, there’s too many inspirations to list lmao I’m missing a ton but I’m also inspired by video games a lot. So it’s a lot more then just music that does it for me.
RH: Good shit, man. Before we close out I have a final question: What is your favorite anime?
A: Oh boy here we go *laughs*. So a favorite is impossible to give, but I'll name five anime I love dearly. First most definitely Haikyu!! Without a doubt. Next would most likely be One Piece. Devilman Crybaby impacted wayyyy too much not to put in here. Bungou Stray Dogs is also a top tier favorite of mine as well. Very big fan of Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood too. Samurai Champloo definitely god tier anime. Parasyte...man there’s just too many lol
RH: I'm a huge fan of Brotherhood and Samurai Champloo, good taste! That'll do it, and Thanks again for the opportunity to do this. Got any final thoughts and shutouts to give?
A: Not a problem always happy to do it haha. And yeah I just wanna say darkness comes in many forms, not just being depressed. Don’t ever hesitate to reach out from it. Being comfortable does not mean happiness. Everything is always ready to change despite how bleak it may be. Please everyone be safe and thank you for enjoying what I’ve done thus far. It’s only up from here 💕

Survey #377
“you’re such an inspiration for the way that i will never, ever choose to be.”
