I have a feeling I don’t want to feel,
Embedded in me since life's early reel.
Rising in my chest, a gripping string,
Knots that tighten, a haunting thing.
It stalks me, this unwelcome guest,
Travels to my throat, steals my breath.
Leaves me parched, each swallow a pain,
Lips trembling, eyes stinging again.
Invading my thoughts, a constant fear,
A shadow I’ve known, always near.
Grew up with it, my silent companion,
Whispering doubts, a relentless canyon.
Not making my parents proud,
Failing as an older sibling allowed.
Clinging to friendship's fragile thread,
Money scarce, anxieties spread.
I want to feel pain, yet I hate it so,
Gripping me tight, refusing to let go.
I want to disappear into the night,

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

watching bridgerton and obviously there were a lot of things wrong with the way socializing has worked in the past, but honestly the idea of a "calling hour" is so appealing. office hours for friendship. you can show up unannounced at my home between 1 and 3pm. you must leave by 3pm.
