Ao3 is actually massively culturally important and very very good at being what it is. I’m so serious when I say that ao3 needs to be protected as the anti censorship, by fans for fans, nonprofit, volunteer run, expertly designed archival site that it is. You don’t have to read or like fanfiction to understand that on principle, ao3 is a site that should be defended.

ONE Institute and Archives of LGBTQ+ History

Just attended a talk given by the ONE Institute, which organizes events and exhibitions about queer history. One of their programs is creating lesson plans to help US-based educators teach queer history! www.oneinstitute.org They partner with ONE Archives at USC in Los Angeles, which focuses on LGBTQ+ history. The archive is open to researchers and gives tours to the public: one.usc.edu The ONE Institute organizes Circa, an annual festival that takes place in October during LGBTQ+ History Month - the only queer history festival in the US! ok au where after becoming archivist jon starts getting into the habit of making vent tiktoks in his car after work because tim showed him how and at first he was like “this is stupid” but then it genuinely started helping him decompress so he just kept doing it in secret. and he eventually he gains a minor following who are becoming increasingly concerned because it goes from “the most INSUFFERABLE statement giver came in today” to “i got fucking KIDNAPPED AGAIN!!!”
