I mentioned the idea of writing a fic for Dante's Hotel but idk if I'll do it with all that I already have to write.

The idea is that years have passed and it's that time again. Time for souls to be sacrificed or the Gates of Hell will open and all will die.

Leading up to New Year's Day Goldie has been having recurring dreams of the hotel, the Gates of Hell, and Death/Mr. Emitt. Then one day the gold tickets start appearing and no matter how she gets rid of them they always come back. Then the scythe starts to appear. A bit harder to get rid of but it remains and returns after a few attempts of discarding the item.

One day, still leading up to New Years, her nightmares stop, but the scythe and tickets are still there. Goldie voices her frustration and asking why this is happening and she gets her answer from an unexpected and unwanted source.

Death-Mr. Emitt materializes into her room. He informs her/reminds her that if the Gates of Hell aren't sated then the end of the world would essentially happen. He cusses Goldie out for the trick that she and Brayer pulled and let's her know that can't happen again.

Goldie tries to tell him off but Mr. Emitt shuts her down to let her know that because of that trick she technically has ownership of the scythe and tickets. Mr. Emitt tells Goldie his existence is also still connected to those items hence him being alive, well that and being DEATH.

He's here to make sure that she does her new job, selecting and killing guests in the hotel to make sure the world stays safe. Goldie of course refuses and Emitt has, much to his frustration, to make her understand it's killing a few people or the death of everyone.

So Goldie goes ahead with the task, but despite giving the ticket and killing someone it doesn't work. Mr. Emitt thinks this is hilarious, if not a bit annoying, and Goldie is shocked and asks why. He clarifies that this is to prevent the Gates of Hell from opening. Hell is a place of suffering and as such it not only demands victims, but victims who suffer a painful-gruesome death.

Meaning Goldie will have to horribly kill for the night under Emitt's guidance. When it's over Goldie is finally able to give the scythe to Emitt and he can rightfully be Death again.

Goldie begrudgingly has to deal with Mr. Emitt's work and they part ways.

sometimes, you wake up and your first thought is "I cannot be a person today." often---most of the time---you have to then get out of bed and proceed with being a person, regardless of your feelings on the matter.

but sometimes, occasionally, once in a while....it's nice to email your boss, get back in bed, and go the fuck back to sleep.
