“Kel!” Hero scowled and shook the tree, causing the younger sibling to whine. “Get down!”

kel shook his head rapidly, clinging on to the branch. He may have been 12, but he knew what would happen when he got down. He would get scolded by hero, and then grounded. He couldn’t loose his Gameboy privileges, it was just something he loved! Aubrey dared him to climb the tree, and by the looks of her face, he should’ve known it would be something like this. He climbed to the very top branch, maybe 3 meters in the air and taunted Aubrey, who begrudgingly admitted defeat.

“Great!” Kel laughed heartily, taunting the girl. “I won!” He laughed again, the rare victory clouding his mind of common sense. The other grinned and ran away, giggling like a toddler.

luckily Basil (bless his heart) saw and called hero in a panic, and here they were now.

The tree was high, obviously. But he was admittedly too scared to climb down, what would happen if he fell?! He’d surely break at least one bone! The boy shivered at the thought, no way, he didn’t wanna come down!

“Kelsey!” Hero scolded, loosing his usual smooth temperament. He knocked on the tree one more time. “Get down here!”

The other was about to protest when his stomach growled hungrily. And it was then that horror dawned upon him. He would have to die up here. He couldn’t go down without loosing his life. Maybe he was doomed to live in the trees, he could drink rain water at least, but-

“Kel, please!” Basil begged, tears running down his face. “You’re scaring us!” He had a… orange Joe and a sandwich in his hands… a lang of need formed in his stomach, and his face must’ve showed it.

“I won’t even tell mom!” Hero sighed, looking at basil with what must’ve been a slight apology.

okay. That was it. If he wasn’t getting in trouble, won against Aubrey, and got free food? There was no other way then to go down, its logical and ethical.

“I’m coming down, you both better keep your word!” He gulped, swinging himself down from the branch, footing himself onto the other branch as it swayed with his weight.

His steady pace was interrupted when he saw a squirrel three inches away from him. He let out a squeak, swatting it away with one hand as his other tried to grasp onto something.

it was then to his horror he was going to fall two meters to the ground, and it dawned on him he was screwed, he was going to die! Death by tree, right!? The world seemed to go in slow motion as he fell to the ground, both Hero and Basil calling his name.

Kel didn’t like forests anymore.

@starboy2461 I’ve been writing sad stuff so here’s a silly story about how Kel broke his arm. I mean- cmon, that boy has broken his arm at least once. I’m imagining the Peter griffin death pose. Sorry if it was rushed, my family is over and i had to speed type this while they speak to me in Tagalog. I DONT SPEAK TAGALOG :(((

Nightshade Week 2024 Prompts & Rules

These are the prompts for Nightshade Week 2024!

The event has three themes: Headspace for fluffier and happier prompts, Whitespace for thematic prompts, and Blackspace for darker and angstier prompts. You can pick whichever suits you best, mix and match, or do your own thing.

Nightshade Week 2024 will run from Monday 25 November until Sunday 1 December.

Some inspiration for each prompt.

Jokers are for when none of a day's prompts appeal to you, but you still want to follow a prompt and not borrow from other days.

The jokers are Alternate Universe, Truth/Lie, and Vulnerable.

What tag can I use?

You can use the Twitter tag #nightshadeweek2024 and the Tumblr tag #nightshade week 2024. You can also tag the account (@nightshadeweek on both platforms) if your entry wasn't seen or send a DM to the account.

How do I pick prompts?

You're free to use and interpret the prompts however you want. You don't have to do all the prompts, you can skip days, you can mix prompts, you can do prompts on different days, etc. If you want, you can also simply submit some Nightshade fanworks that don't follow any prompts. This event is all about celebrating Nightshade and creating new things for it together.

What content will be shared by the account?

This event is accessible to all ages. While canon compliant dark themes and gore are allowed, any works with sexually explicit content won't be shared by the account for this reason.

Do I have to complete every day or follow one category?

Not at all! You can do one day or all days. You can do one path or all paths. You don't have to follow a set path either; the categories are just there to give the prompts themes. You can do for example one Headspace prompt, two Whitespace prompts, and four Blackspace prompts. Mix and match as you see fit!

Can I submit late entries?

Late entries are definitely welcome! After the event has ended, I will still regularly check the tag and share late entries.

Can I add other characters and ships to my fanworks?

Go wild! The main focus should be on nightshade in order for it to be shared, but other characters and ships (including other Omori or Stranger ships) can be depicted as well.

Do my entries have to follow canon?

Nope! You can work within any canon you want, so long as the characters featured focus on Omori and Stranger in some way. You want to do the entirety of the week for an AU where they're real people? Go wild!

Can I make platonic works too?

Absolutely! All dynamics are celebrated here.

day 3: black space

THIS IS NOT CONNECTED TO MY PREVIOUS ONE BTW!!

the days seemed to both roll by and disarm his sense of self. How long was he here? When will something happen, and he’ll be able to go back to himself? What was ‘himself’, anyways?

It certainly wasn’t omori. It was sunny, right? But this persona he’s masked with made the lines between reality and fantasy blur in an overwhelming sense of emotions. The darkness was comfortable in these times as well, he could track the bloody footprints for all he cared, it never crossed his mind to just stay and sit.

the floor was cold, causing goosebumps on his pale skin. Usually he’d stare at a light if the white space was present, but for now, it was the opposite of the occurring color. Mewo wasn’t here, or he is, but not in a place he wants to go to, so the entertaining thought of petting something remotely soft and warm was fleeting.

the amount of doors in this hell was also frightening, it quite honestly overwhelmed him with how much he had to explore. The darkness was so… euphoric. A pair of white eyes in the night backed up his thoughts.

he used to be scared of the confrontation of the figure. He used to run away from it, deny it, disregard it as another one of his silly nightmares.

but now it’s almost like a sigh of relief. The boy stands up from the floor and smoothens out his ruffled clothes. It was time. Whether it was hours or minutes that ran through his head was futile now.

it was nothing more than a comforting stranger in his presence.

Okay @starboy2461 here ya go. Here’s your dayyyy 3…? Yeah day three. FUCK I’m excited 4 tmrw. It’ll be a poem cus I’ve been writing fanfic writing portfolio stuff ahaha… anyways. Yeah. 🎁-- Hero & Kel Brotherly Angst Headcanon

Hero barely remembers the first birthday he had after losing Mari. That entire time of his life was a dark blur and his passing birthday, proof that the world somehow kept going even without Mari in it, was certainly not something he felt like celebrating. Hero was so lost in his own grief, however, that he didn't realize that Kel couldn't stand the thought of his brother not celebrating his birthday.

Kel used some of his own leftover Christmas money to buy Hero a cupcake at the Other Mart. When he tried to give it to him, however, Hero merely mumbled that he wasn't hungry and buried himself even deeper in his covers. Kel set the cupcake on the nightstand by Hero's bed in case he wanted it later; then watched as it sat there forgotten for nearly two weeks--growing old and stale until eventually it was quietly, unceremoniously thrown away.
