Netflix’s Film Fam is slated to make an announcement tomorrow. I’ll take a wild guess, but looking at the actors in the vid, we will see trailers or teasers for
THE HARDER THEY FALL starring Idris Elba, Regina King, Jonathan Majors and others.
RED NOTICE with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot.
Zack Snyder’s ARMY OF THE DEAD with John Bautista, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro and Ella Purnell.
THE KISSING BOOTH 3 starring Joey King; TO ALL THE BOYS I LOVED BEFORE 3 : ALWAYS AND FOREVER, LARA JEAN with Lana Condor and Noah Centineo. Since EXTRACTION 2 has only been announced, maybe Hemsworth is featured to promote how well the viewership was for the action film.
If that’s the case, I demand inclusion of THE OLD GUARD considering it did as well and it won Best Superhero Film at last night’s Critics Choice Super Awards.
Yes, it’s a real award. Yes, it means as much as a MTV Movie Awards, which is to say it means nothing.
But they did honor Amazon’s THE BOYS, Aya Cash and Antony Starr (2 awards: Best Villain and Best Actor in a Series), so, the voting body has great taste.
Although Amy Adams can be currently seen in the much maligned HILLBILLY ELEGY on Netflix, she is likely included because Netflix will run WOMAN IN THE WINDOW, the last film from the shingle that was Fox 2000.
THUNDER FORCE with Melissa McCarthy and Olivia Spencer.
and YES DAY with Jennifer Garner and Edgar Ramirez.
Did Edgar discuss with Jennifer about how his bestie Ana de Armas is dating her ex-husband?
- In non-Netflix movie news: Sony is moving MORBIUS from March 19th to October 8th.
With the Covid-19 vaccine roll-out being slow going, at least in the U.S., there are concerns that theaters will not be able to return to business any time soon. Once again there is talk that BLACK WIDOW will get a Disney+ release with premium access (a’la MULAN) and a theatrical release.
The first major release that is due to roll out is Sony’s CINDERELLA starring Camila Cabello, Idina Menzel and Billy Porter. But with no poster, no teaser or full trailer, this release looks doubtful.
- What I miss about not getting the physical version of the trades is that I’m missing out on the full-page For Your Consideration ads. Cheaper for the studios, yes, but these banner and sidebar ads just don’t cut it.
Like these for Bleeker Street’s SUPERNOVA starring Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci.
The Hollywood Foreign Press is trying to clean up its image as a bunch of sycophantic star f*ckers posing as journalists, so they’re putting their feet down and are trying to quell category fraud. They have forced Bleeker Street to take Tucci out of Supporting and run him alongside Firth in Lead.
Tucci, drinking it up, with his wife Felicity and his in-laws Emily Blunt and John Kasinski.
The opposite, happened for the cast of Regina King’s ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI. Kingsley Ben-Adir and Eli Goree wanted to campaign as leads with Leslie Odom Jr. and Aldis Hodge in Supporting. But the HPFA denied the request and will have them all run in Supporting.

So, for 2019, Tig Notaro is turning her monthly Largo show into a talk show with one special guest. It seems like one of the few things that Tig hasn’t conquered in comedy and we’re very intrigued as to what that might be.
Get your tickets for this first show happening w/special guest Olivia Munn on Sat. Jan. 20th at 7:30PM for $35 here.

Netflix’s Ambitious Plans for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead
The streaming giant has already commenced the expansion work of the Zack Snyder film Army of the Dead. Reportedly, Netflix already has unveiled its plans to make a prequel and a TV series forming a cinematic universe that will explore Snyder’s zombie world.
Although the pandemic has delayed the “Army of the Dead” release, Netflix is already pretty optimistic about the concept as they enthusiastically relayed their interest in developing a franchise out of Dave Bautista starrer film.
The Army of the Dead will be Snyder’s first directorial venture after the tragic death of his daughter, which led him to leave the production of Justice League midway. Netflix is, however, holding no cards to its chest and is showing full confidence in Zack Snyder’s film. It has already called for a prequel film and an animation series set in the same world via an announcement on Thursday.
The Army of the Dead will follow a heist story. After a zombie outbreak wreaks havoc over the entire world, a group of mercenaries attempts to pull off a “greatest heist ever attempted.”
The ensemble cast of the film includes WWE star Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Ana de la Reguera, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Omari Hardwick, Raul Castillo, Matthias Schweigofer, Samantha Win, and Nora Arnezeder.
The film will release in 2021, but no official date has been set yet.
The rumor has it that Snyder will work with a lot of collaborators in the link-up projects.
German actor Mattias Schweigofer will act (reprising his role as Ludwig Dieter) and direct in the prequel film. The script of the prequel will be written by Shay Hatten, who has also written the first and has written the script for the third installment of the John Wick franchise, John Wick Chapter 3-Parabellum.
The prequel will be produced in Germany with Schweigofer, Zack Snyder, his wife Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Den Maag acting as the producers.
The anime series will follow the story of Dave Bautista’s character(Scott) during the initial days of the outbreak, during which Scott and his crew fight to find the source of the outbreak.
Jay Olivia will be the leading producer of the anime show. Olivia has been credited as a storyboard artist with the films like Justice League and Thor: Ragnarok. He has also helmed the widely popular anime series Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
It looks like Zack Snyder is back in the game as he is also showing tenacity in bringing his version of the failed film Justice League to the audience. The film which he couldn’t finish in 2017.
I’m Anny. I’m a social media manager living in USA. I am a fan of technology, design, and music. I’m also interested in fitness and movies.

Ooh, yes, I have a lot to do today before I can do any celebrating, so naturally let’s procrastinate with the end-of-year fandom meme! THIS GOT REALLY LONG I’M SORRY.
1. Your main fandom of the year: The Good Fight, which is a madness while it’s on, always a dull aching hum in the back of my mind while it’s off, and still makes me feel instantly sick to my stomach every time I see a bit of news about it. Fun! But yeah I guess this is the only thing I participated in fandom for anyway; I wrote a little fic, I made some gifs, I tried to offer comfort to my fellow sufferers. (The show is great and most of you won’t feel sick about it, lol)
2. Your favorite film this year: Another year of not being much of a movie person--and to think 5 years ago it was everything! But favorite film in cinemas was Lady Bird; at home, I’m glad my recent Lesley problem has given me a chance to watch some great Mike Leigh films--I loved High Hopes, Another Year, and All or Nothing.
3. Your favorite book this year: A slightly better year for books; after years of shamefully managing, like, five, I read 26 this year and, more importantly, really got back into the habit in the last few months so I think 2018 will be even better. I read many mysteries, which is always a go-to genre when I’m in a reading funk. But the very best book I read, far and away, was Cassandra at the Wedding by Dorothy Baker. Shout outs to Still She Wished for Company by Margaret Irwin, Alias Grace and The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood (hmm wonder why I read those), The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark (how had I never read it before???) and Excellent Women by Barbara Pym. Of the mysteries, there is a reason why And Then There Were None is revered; holy shit. The rest were just comfort food. If any of this sounds like your thang, we should stalk each other on goodreads, hmu
4. Your favorite album or song this year: Yeah if I’m embarrassed about my engagement with film and literature this year, let’s not even talk about music. I don’t think I listened to a single new (or new-to-me) thing this year. The only music I listened to at all was a playlist of old favorites I can sing along to on longer drives. And this a year with new St Vincent! Shameful. I did listen to a fuckton of podcasts. All my music time has gone to podcasts.
5. Your favorite TV show this year: Honestly, The Good Fight. And if you want a ridiculous list of honorable mentions, here are all of the currently-airing shows I adored this year in approximate descending order of my love for them: The Good Place, Crazy Ex Girlfriend, Harlots, Grace and Frankie, Catastrophe, Feud, Big Little Lies, American Vandal, One Mississippi, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Search Party, Insecure, Alias Grace, The Handmaid’s Tale, Transparent, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Orphan Black, Broad City, GLOW, Better Things, Stranger Things, I Love Dick, Veep, The Bold Type, Younger, One Day at a Time, Schitt’s Creek, Jane the Virgin, The Americans, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Speechless, Colony, The Worst Witch. Among older shows, I discovered To the Manor Born and watched it like seven times in a brief but heady love affair this summer, and The Good Life, too. I rewatched Ugly Betty and As Time Goes By. Oh, and while I guess it doesn’t count for 2017 shows, I honestly adored Mum. And had a weird week where I snarfed down a whole season of Strictly Come Dancing. OK that’s probably enough about television. Clearly, television is what keeps me from engaging with any other form of media. :|
6. Your favorite Tumblr this year: I LOVE ALL MY MUTUALS EQUALLY AND ARDENTLY, even if I’m pretty bad at keeping up conversations with you all xo
7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year: Can I use this space to talk about my year in situations? Obviously in these last weeks I’ve been losing my fucking mind over Lesley Manville, who is a sleeper situation, but clearly a Code Red Level One now. I also had some delightful times with Penelope Keith and Raquel Cassidy, who occupy that delicious but not all-consuming space in my mind that Lesley once did. I almost had a thing with Ashley Jensen, but I guess Penelope stole me away before that got off the ground. And Christine Baranski is clearly my forever girl. I didn’t think my fickle ass could ever love anyone so deeply for so long, but here we are.
8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year: Ummm...? I can’t really think of any, although I will say it was frustrating when all I wanted was a good mystery book series to lose myself in and I had to toss aside many half-read or after the first book. (If I’d finished all the books I started this year, I would have finished my reading challenge and then some.) But of those the biggest frustration was, despite enjoying the Agatha Raisin tv series because Ashley Jensen, and enjoying the Agatha Raisin audiobooks on a different level because Penelope Keith, how honestly terrible I found the Agatha Raisin books. So instead I read summaries of them all because I was weirdly invested in that ship for a hot minute, lol. Not worth it. Please come back, tv show.
9. Your TV boyfriend of the year: NONE but ugh I still have embarrassing Gary Cole feelings, and also Peter Mullan’s character on Mum is allowed to date my girlfriend, yeah.
10. Your TV girlfriend of the year: So many??? AUDREY FFORBES-HAMILTON is all goals, Diane Lockhart forever and always, yeah I want to softly cuddle and bathe in the luminous glow of Cathy on Mum, Hecate Hardbroom, both Grace and Frankie, and I had a dream about awkwardly trying to date Tig Notaro, so.
11. Your biggest squee moment of the year: DIANE TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WENT BACK WITH HIM!!! God damn it, I am still so fucking embarrassing about this ship. Also, so many Audrey/Richard moments. I keep thinking I cannot fall in love with another het ship, but if you make mah girl all googly-eyed, I’m probably gonna be there for it.
12. Your most missed old fandom: Nothing buuuut if it counts I did really feel sorry about the Major Crimes fandom after they fucking fucked Mary/Sharon over, and kind of gleefully monitored the carnage from a safe remove. Honestly so terrible, glad I got out of that mess years ago.
13. Your fandom you haven’t tried yet, but want to? Hmmmm I don’t know? I feel like if there were anything major I would be on it already. I know what I like and I do not delay gratification. But if anything, I think I should probably watch Janet King very soon? Also I’m hovering on the point of diving into The Crown; I did try the first episode for Harriet reasons, but could nooooot get into it. But a number of friends/culture bloggers I admire love it. So I may give it another go. If only in anticipation of Olivia Colman!queen yas!
14. Your biggest anticipation of the New Year: P H A N T O M T H R E A D and seeing Lesley on stage doing Long Day’s Journey :3 and the return most especially of The Good Fight and Grace and Frankie. I also do very seriously intend to diversify my fandom interests in 2018: read more, watch more films, listen to more new music. If I have one concrete resolution, it’s that I will see every movie directed by a woman that comes through town--I mean, of course, through the good indie theater, anyway. I’m setting a reading challenge at an ambitious-by-recent-standards 50 books and intend to meet it. And I want to get better at focusing? If I’m watching a show or a movie, I should really watch the show or movie, not play on my phone half the time. Maybe get better at documenting my experiences and reactions. And continue enjoying this Lesley thing until she wears me out.
Everybody do this, I’m really interested in everyone’s fandom year!

Army of the Dead Universe from Zack Snyder Set at Netflix with Prequel Movie and Anime Series
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Zack Snyder’s imminently-arriving “Snyder Cut” of 2017’s Justice League may be the dominant topic about the director, but his hiatus-breaking comeback with Netflix film Army of the Dead also draws near. Interestingly, while there’s still no release date for said film, it appears that its streaming giant platform is already planning to expand the zombie-battling franchise with a prequel movie and anime series. Yes, folks, an “ArmyoftheDeadverse” is nigh at Netflix.
Netflix has announced its expansion plans for, as the company puts it, a “Universe” of Snyder’s Army of the Dead, which, itself, is a sequel to his 2004 breakthrough, Dawn of the Dead. While Snyder—who directed and co-wrote the upcoming film—will certainly remain the creative fulcrum for the follow-up offerings, some interesting choices were made to handle the day-to-day duties. Indeed, the prequel movie and anime series will both be written by Shay Hatten, who co-wrote the Army of the Dead screenplay with Snyder and Joby Harold. Along with that credit, Hatten comes into the projects having co-written John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and TV movie (Future) Cult Classic. As Snyder expresses of the Army of the Dead universe plans in a statement:
“I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to partner with Netflix again as we expand the Army of the Dead universe with both an international prequel, as well as exploring the visually dynamic world of animation. It’s been a great collaboration and we are thrilled that Netflix sees this as big of an IP as we do.”
With the untitled prequel movie set for production in Germany, Snyder has also pulled out the director’s chair for one of its natives in Army of the Dead cast member Matthias Schweighöfer, who is also set to star in the film, reprising his character, Ludwig Dieter. The actor has been cutting his teeth behind the camera, notably with episodes of the 2017-2018 Amazon Prime cyberthriller series (on which he stars), You Are Wanted, and 2015 comedy movie Manny. Zack Snyder will produce the film on behalf of his company, The Stone Quarry, which will also be represented by producer Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller. Star/director Schweighöfer will also produce alongside Dan Maag, both of whom represent PANTALEON Films. As Schweighöfer lauds of the gig:
“It has already been a great pleasure to be part of this wonderful ensemble around Zack Synder – a fascinating project. I am happy that it is now being developed on so many different levels.”
Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas will be the title of the accompanying anime series, which is also set as a prequel to Snyder’s initial Netflix franchise offering. The series will be overseen by showrunner Jay Oliva (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and upcoming Netflix animated series Trese), who is also directing two episodes, joined in the latter capacity by Snyder himself, who will direct two episodes of his own. Like the prequel movie, the Stone Quarry trio of Snyder, Snyder and Coller will executive-produce the anime, joined in that capacity by Olivia and Hatten.
In contrast to the unknown details of the prequel movie, Netflix was more forthcoming regarding Lost Vegas. Indeed, with the movie from which it will be spun set to showcase a sizable ensemble led by wrestling superstar and Guardians of the Galaxy main cast member Dave Bautista, the series will follows the plot-setting exploits of Bautista’s character, Scott, in his initial attempt to lead a rescue crew through Las Vegas during the outset of the zombie plague; efforts that are obviously destined to fail, but should still be entertaining to witness. This is especially the case since the anime prequel will have the services of Army of the Dead cast members Bautista, Ana de la Reguera, Omari Hardwick Ella Purnell and Tig Notaro (who recently replaced the accusations-plagued Chris D’Elia), all of whom reprise their roles from the film, albeit in voice form.
Netflix has yet to reveal a release date for Army of the Dead other than the window of a 2021 premiere on the streaming platform. Consequently, no dates were revealed as of yet for the prequel movie or anime series.
