Finally got a bottle! Let the celebrations begin!!! My brother-in-law @captchuckmcgowan had an opportunity to acquire a bottle of @oldripvanwinkledistillery #pappyvanwinkle 10 year #bourbon and I told him to go for it because. Thank you to @jlweaver79 for marrying such an amazing man! I have a lot to celebrate! Celebrating God's healing over the past year of these lungs. Celebrating that I'm able to spend the holidays with friends and family instead of being laid up in a hospital for over a month with Covid last year. Celebrating an opportunity to expand Weaver Eye Care Associates @weavereyecare (more info to follow). Celebrating another banner year for my optometry practice as well. Also celebrating progress on the new songs in the studio, which will hopefully be finished up in the next couple of months. A lot to be thankful for! #thursdaythoughts and secondary pricing on #bourbonwhiskey is not normal. I say that because a few hundred dollar bottle of #pappyvanwinkle turns into a few thousand dollars all day long BUT there is not many #bourbons that are priced like that normally. Case in point from the #scotchwhisky world, #macallaneditionno1 was under $100 when it came out, now it’s around $800. For $900 you can buy a #highlandpark 30 year old as that is close to its everyday price. Plenty of other well aged scotch whiskys in that high end range everyday that sit on shelf. Bourbon on the other hand does have many aged bourbons on shelf north of 10 years, so in the #whiskey world the secondary has gone nuts. Case in point too is the pricing on the #willett bourbons lately, they have gone into bodypart money recently commanding many thousands just like the #pappys, the MSRP is low hundreds on them. The #whiskeydistillery companies are leaving so much money on the table putting out their aged whiskeys for so cheap, to have liquor stores and secondary market make all the money. Point here is when I see someone say they would not buy a #pappyvanwinkle23 at that secondary price because for that money there is better whiskey in that price range, I think, what 23 year old bourbon whiskey is sitting on the shelf right now priced at $2000 MSRP? The msrp for Pappy bourbons are $69.99 for the #oldripvanwinkle 10 year, $79.99 for the #vanwinkle 12 year old #bourbon, $119.99 for the 13 year #ryewhiskey, $119.99 for the #pappyvanwinkle15, $199.99 for the 20 year, and $299.90 for their #pappyvanwinkle23. Raise your hands if you ever got them at that price? They all sell on #liquorstore shelves and secondary for 5 to 10 times that price..........people pay that too. Who wins by this happening, the distributors since they qualify stores Pappy allocations based on amounts spent in the fiscal year pretty much. So shutting down the secondary is not going to change much since the stores are not going to drop the price, if anything #buffalotracedistillery should charge the distributors more for this lineup because they are the ones losing out. Prices are not coming down and demand is not stopping, the #bourbon from this family people love, or the ones who can’t get it hate, but the blame is not on the secondary market. #independenceday2020 done right I tell ya. I used the #pinksaltrockplate for the first time for this #seafoodfeast and paired with the #vanwinklefamilyreserverye flight of 2003, 2009, 2010 and 2015. That 2003 is just mindblowing good confirming my theory that older juice pre the hype is just so money. All their 13 year #ryewhiskey is good but wow that 2003 is so rich in flavor and almost thick in viscosity. Wow.
