I had a rotten day at work, and then smut happened. Inspired by the incredible artwork of @crispyanonart, I present Sebastian’s Winter Star Present, available now on ao3! Excerpt below! Mind the ao3 tags, this one is nsfw.

“Sam?” Sebastian asked again, before pausing to take in the sight of his husband, trussed up in front of him. “Sammy,” he said, his eyes widening. “I didn’t think Winter Star was until next week. What a pleasant surprise this is.”

Sebastian placed the bag he was carrying on the ground, then unbuttoned his shirt, keeping his eyes on Sam as he slowly removed it, hanging it over the back of the chair they kept by the bed. He then sauntered over to Sam, as if he were assessing the situation.

Sam felt himself growing warm over the sight of his husband eyeing him like a feral predator stalking his prey, immediately growing hard under Sebastian's stare. He tried to ask for help escaping from his bonds, but his words were stopped by the tape on his mouth, and also… Well, did he really want help? Maybe not with the way Sebastian was looking at him.

• he is passively suicidal. i got this because of his dialogue in which he thinks ‘i wonder if anyone would notice if i disappeared.’ it’s not so much heavily suicidal but he is very risky with his life and doesn’t care too much.

• various scars for different reason, but a prominent X on his left arm from when he was 15

A Sambastian fic where they got together young, and now that they’re a little older they’ve started going through a rough patch. They’re not on the same wavelength like they were when they were teenagers and their world was simple. They miscommunicate and misunderstand each other. Their silences have become awkward when they used to be comfortable. They both want to work through it but they don’t know how. And eventually they start very tentatively, carefully, quietly discussing if maybe the best way forward for both of them is apart rather than together.

And then one day Sam writes all his swirling thoughts and feelings into a song. All the things he wants to say to Sebastian but can’t string together in a coherent sentence. About how he desperately wants to hold onto Sebastian, and how he wishes they could go back to the time when their love was simple and easy. About wanting to take that pure love from the past and pull it into the present and carry it with them into the future. And he plays the song on his acoustic guitar for Sebastian.

6. Share one of your weaknesses.

my ego fluctuates like crazy. sometimes i think what i've written is the most amazing thing i've ever molded with my bare hands and other times i just sit there and cry even though it's not bad at all (and i'm aware of that). sharing with other people definitely helps though and i think the only reason i keep writing is because i share it with people who will listen to me, see the vision, and help me work through it if i need help <3

17. Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

start to finish. not that i want to but sometimes withholding parts i'm really excited to write helps me get through the more drab bits. however i love writing one shots and i will write those out of order as they come to me. haven't done that with my sambastian long fic yet but definitely have with other things.

also, tangentially related, but i do sometimes take notes on chapters/ideas far in advance for timeline reasons. like for my sambastian long fic i 'plan' by season since the story is heavily influenced by birthdays and holidays. (for example, there's an entire arc dedicated to winter star + one that involves sam's 21st birthday.) so in that case sometimes i'll have bits of dialogue i definitely wanna use written like 10+ chapters in advance.

23. If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which one would it be and why?

i haven't written enough sdv to really warrant this but if i had to pick i would say sunsets. not because it's bad, but because there are certain things i'd want to clean up, ideas i wish i implemented/went with, etc. keeping it in short story realm was a massive goal for me but i do think i struggled with some aspects of the small wc and learned enough in writing it to clean it up.

but like seriously rewriting? not reusing a single word or phrase? i wrote a medieval/fantasy au fic when i was in the bnha fandom (at like 14) and the concept was fucking FIRE. it's still posted (wattpad) and easy to find if you care enough but i won't share because it's embarassing LOLOLOL i did really enjoy it though because it was very queerplatonic (before i even knew what that was) and involves a specific group of characters growing up together and figuring themselves out while overthrowing the system. it also ended in an (implied that it isn't permanent) sacrificial major character death. i still have notes somewhere and i think it would work so fucking well for the sdv fandom bc of the whole solarian chronicles thing and whatnot but idk if i can commit to another 100k+ word long fic. at least not right now. but just know the bunny is there and i think about rewriting it for different fandoms/with original characters at least once a year

Sebastian was always a wild child, reckless and carefree in all his exploits, but a particular moment in time has stayed with him forever. Scarring him indelibly, and leaving him with a feeling of emptiness he’s yet to fill. It all began when a 14 year old Sebastian, desperate for affection and attention from his nearly absent parents went out of his way to grab it from them - by any means possible. While his twin brother Parker was content to blend in, to be obedient and gain attention through positive action, Sebastian had always bent to trouble, truly a believe in the the old say ‘there's not such thing as 'bad’ attention’. On this particular occasion, Sebastian, having just come into his own, out and proud and looking for release he found hard to find in others his age, found it in a particular co-worker of his fathers, an older man, married and one who had a reputation for having a temper. The plan was simple, flirt and tempt, just enough to get his fill and make sure the message was relayed back to his parents. Only he soon found out he was in over his head, and left violated, feeling foolish and alone. This event marked the start of Sebastian’s downhill spiral, the once vibrant young man turning to something far more cynical, masking his fear and emptiness with sarcasm and biting words that threatened to hurt anyone that got to close. It’s a secret he still holds close determined to take it to his grave.

Sebastian has always been the one with all the answers. From a young age he knew who he was and what he wanted and he was confident and assertive enough to go out and grab it. That’s always followed him through life, although lately, they question of who exactly he is has begun to nag at him. Goals, aspirations, dreams. It seems as though everyone around him has them, he on the other hand lacks direction in his life. At first it was the little things, not knowing what career to pursue - which wasn’t a big deal at 15 - but lately it’s turned into more, and Sebastian’s been feeling as though the ground is slipping out from under him and spinning out of control and there's no way for him to stop it. Add onto that Sebastian’s feelings of inadequacy and a self hatred that’s rooted deep in his core and he was well on his way to self destruction. That was when he began to look for ways to regain that control and joined the very rumored and little known Dalton Academy Fight Club. It was almost a joke at first, a way for him to make fun of the losers that would take part in something so neanderthalic. But one fight, one rush of adrenaline from the raw power that came with winning a fight and he was hooked. He knows it’s stupid and dangerous, but he’s been showing up with more and more mysterious bruises riddling his body and his excuses aren’t going to cut it for much longer. Still, he keeps going back for more. Determined to come out on top, and lying to himself that this was harmless, just a raw physical need and not something much, much deeper.

Sebastian isn’t someone who has a lot of friends, sure there are acquaintances and peers at school that he may call a friend, even hook ups met at bars or on social media/dating apps. But in reality there is very few people that actually play the role of friend in his life. The foremost being his twin brother Parker. Sebastian likes to play it off, but when it comes to Parker there is no one more important to him. Parker is not just his twin, he’s his soulmate - in that there is no one who understand him like his brother, and there is no one he loves more. For his brother he’d give his life, protecting him no matter what, and hopefully shielding Parker from the evils of the world - though he's not sure he’s succeeded in doing so.

Sebastian was always the child that stood out in the Smythe family. From a young age he stole the show, talented and smart and charming to boot, he was outspoken and passionate and wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, often using colorful expressions and words that both impressed and horrified his parents, nannies and teachers. It was this foundation that his need for attention began, and he soon found music to be one of the best ways to grab it. He excelled with his music direction, singing and dancing came easily too and when he grew into his looks, it only made things far easier. in adolesence Sebastian still enjoys the attention he receives through his music, but his focus has shifted, finding his sexual prowess to be one of, if not the most powerful tool in his arsenal of attention seeking. Sebastian puts a lot of stock into his merit as a sexual being to the point that he finds he holds very little value outside of that, which is why other than sarcasm, his sexuality is his main method of coping, defense and humor.

Because of the environment in which Sebastian as raised, he developed of sense of entitlement that has followed him into his teen years. Deep down he knows that only hard work pays off in the end, but he still expects to get the best of everything simply because he believes he deserves it more than others. He does try to bring himself down to earth, but with so little guidance from authority in his life, there’s very scarcely anything to talk him down when he begins to behave badly or acts like a spoil brat. Sebastian LOVES the finer things in life Expensive food, designer clothes, trips abroad and the exclusivity of being elite and he isn’t afraid to broadcast it via social media, loud biting comments or simply in the clothes he wears, people he associates with or the way he holds himself in the public eye.

Especially Sam, he gets the most sentimental, like he looks at Seb and thinks ‘he is as beautiful as 20 yrs ago i love him sm’ and starts to cry haha

My idea is that Sebastian's initial sentiments towards Maru were mainly born out of teenage angst which was truthfully more directed at their parents — in his eyes, she was merely a result of the relationship he resented so much. As people grow up, they often lose some of that pent-up anger, creating relationships that allow them to feel less insecure and misunderstood, and in turn, more open to understanding others too. I think this would be the case for Seb. He would start seeing Maru more clearly, finally recognizing who she is, rather than what she represented to him up until that point (she, like him, had no role in the family dynamic except being born into it). He would discover that he actually likes her a lot. Maru, on the other hand, probably always looked up to him but could never approach him first because Seb can be very intimidating. I picture her telling herself, "Maru, be cool!! How would Sebastian act??" because he would engage in all sorts of behaviors that she, being a "good girl," could never imagine partaking in (talking back to people??? Oh lord). I reckon she would also be often concerned for him and his habits — to be honest, she would probably be a better sibling to Seb than he ever was to her. Upon maturing and realizing this, Sebastian would definitely promise himself to make up for it and start acting like an actual older brother, the instinct to protect the younger person taking over.

A while back I posted what could be one of their first sincere attempts at an hangout x !!

While Maru already had great support from Demetrius, I imagine she would really flourish from this new dynamic, and she would grow into her feisty personality, finally realizing she does not need to be the good girl at all times but also that she can set her own example. As they get older their relationship would become more and more sincere, Maru would stop holding back and Seb would gladly accept the love that she's been trying to give him, and they both would heal and learn a lot from it. They would finally become a great support system for one another, I can't imagine a story where they don't end up getting along and doing good as a family 🥹 I need Sebastian to be obsessed with Maru's kid and spoil her rotten with all sorts of gaming equipment !!

Side tangent: I feel the need to say that I don't think either Robin or Demetrius are bad people, they are flawed individuals that could for sure do better at parenting but are far from the worst family in game. Let's not forget we can see the book "Practical Tips For First-Time Step-Dads" in Demetrius bookcase, the man is trying (which doesn't mean he's necessarily succeeding or that Seb's sentiments are less valid, but you get what I'm saying)
