Summary:

When sixteen-year-old Charles Xavier finds out that his girlfriend is pregnant, his entire life changes. Sarah doesn’t want the child – so Charles takes it upon himself to raise her. Even if that means getting kicked out of the house by his parents, not going to college, and starting over in a new town called Stars Hollow. 

Erik Lehnsherr’s parents died when he was young, leaving him with nothing but a hardware store. He turned it into a diner. For a time, he’s perfectly content with his mundane, predictable life. And then he meets Charles Xavier, an exuberant caffeine-addict raising a five-year-old daughter, and everything changes. Not that Erik will ever tell Charles that.

Jean is sixteen. While most people at her school are going on dates and having parties, she’s hanging out with her dad, who’s her best friend, and working as hard as she can to get into Harvard. And of course, it would help to be able to attend the prestigious high school Chilton. And of course her dad somehow finds the money to send her. And that’s just how things are. At least, until she meets Scott.

Charles as single dad extraordinaire to Jean. Erik as the grumpy diner owner who has two kids he doesn’t know about (Peter and Wanda).

Jean has her first boyfriend, Scott, but is intrigued by Erik’s nephew Logan. Jean’s best friend, Ororo, loves rock music and is secretly in a band, despite her strict mother.

Moira is Jean’s teacher, who Charles gets engaged to for a time. Magda was Erik’s girlfriend years ago, and she never told him that she was pregnant after they broke up. 

Raven is Charles’s best friend, who’s the chef at the inn they work at. Hank is their produce supplier, who Raven falls in love with. Alex is the grumpy guy who works at the front desk. 

I guess i'm in a fall mood lol!? I could see myself writing a short version of this, maybe not a full-on series since I already have one of those in progress. Idk! what do y'all think!?

Everything is so intense and deep but they have barely known each other (so lesbian of them) not to mention that the two spend the next 70 years calling each other old friend like every lesbian in the first lesbian experience, which is falls for her best friend and never forget.

Arguably, he was the strongest of the horsemen, but Apocalypse was using him as the fucking delivery boy. To send a message out to the people, spoken from his lips, transferred through Charles. Threats, warnings, to the people that their lives were about to become the survival of the fittest.

Let the best man win.

Magneto had been panicked, searching everywhere for Charles with Raven by his side. Thankfully, Hank had caught wind of where Charles was located, and the pair headed there immediately.

"Why would he do this, Erik? It just... It doesn't make sense. This isn't like him. Think he's brainwashed?"

He's still upset, Erik thought, but he kept that to himself.

When they'd reached Charles, Erik felt so many things. Relief, pain, anger, betrayal. Ironic, really, that after all this time Charles would be the one to turn his back on the mutants, the humans.

On him.

"Charles!" Erik cried out, thankful to see Apocalypse was seemingly no where in sight. He wouldn't have long to convince Charles to come back to him, to remind him that this isn't who he was, that he was still the same man that not long ago wanted peace and prosperity between both human and mutant alike.

Charles must've heard his thoughts, because suddenly Erik couldn't move, frozen in place, forced to plead with Charles from a distance.

"Let him go!" Raven yelled, running towards him, but Charles picked her up and threw her hard against the ground, far away from the two.

Charles focus on Raven had made him slip from Eriks mind, and he used the moment of freedom to move closer, quick and quiet, and by the time Charles noticed he stopped him again.

From this close, just feet away, Magneto could see that Charles was crying. Those brilliant eyes, red and puffy, his cheeks colored a spotty red from how hard he'd rubbed at them previously to hide the evidence of any tears. Erik wanted to hold him, soothe him, and tell him it'd all be okay.

Can you hear me, Charles? Erik thought, then added,

nod if you can hear me.

Stubbornly Charles didn't nod, but his eyes flickered away, and that was enough for Erik to keep going. He wanted to look back at Raven, make sure she was okay, but he still couldn't move.

I know you're hurt. I hurt you, I took away something very important and for that, my old friend, i am sorry. From the bottom of my broken heart. I did a lot of bad things, and I can admit that.

Charles wouldn't look at him, but Erik could feel his mental hold on him slip. Good, this was good. He kept going.

But please, my love. This isn't the way to get your revenge. If you want to kill me, then do it, if it will keep the entire world safe from you either getting them killed or killing them yourself, then please. I'm begging you. I hurt you, not the world, me. Kill me, Charles, do you undertand? Fucking kill m-

"ENOUGH!" Charles screamed with a sob, letting go of Erik with his eyes squeezed tight, gripping and clawing at his head, as if that could get Erik out of his mind.

"Charles," Raven coughed, holding an arm to her chest while limping towards the two, her blue body looking roughed up. "We love you, we miss you. Please, let us take you home... Let us help you stop this guy, is this really worth it?" Her voice was broken and rasped, and she coughed again, taking a deep breath in but finding it hard to do so.

"Everything you worked for. Everything we all fought for. What, does that mean nothing to you now? You're angry so you're going to take it out on the people weaker than you?"

Charles groaned, shaking his head rapidly, sobbing. "Get out of my head. Get out of my head!"

Raven shook her head, taking a single step, and Charles had her pinned flat to the ground with a thought.

"She's not in your head, Charles." Erik growled, growing angry, and Charles didn't stop him from stepping in front of him. He didn't stop him either, when Erik pressed a hand over his heart, and leaned in close. Charles let go of Mystique.

"Raven needs you, Charles. Your X-Men need you. The world and, if it still matters, I need you. I know I fucked up, I do, and I can never fix this. But if you come home, with me, and Raven... I will try, so hard, to get you to forgive me. And if you don't, I will leave, Charles. Forever. You won't ever have to see me again, but please. Spare everyone else."

Something switched inside of Charles. Maybe it was Eriks pathetic begging.

No.

No, it was Eriks pleading, for Charles to do the right thing. To remember who he was, what he stood for. Erik was right, he knew this, that if anyone were to be punished it should be him. For all the wrong he's done in this world, for all the people he's killed.

Despite all of Charles' begging. Pleading, for him to stop. It actually made him laugh now, and Erik looked hurt.

"Funny, isn't it? Why, I feel like I've got deja vu..." It didn't take a genius to understand what he meant.

"This is different."

"Is it? You believe that?" Charles laughed louder, throwing his head back to add to the theatrics. "Because actually, I don't think it is. Not one bit."

"I can't kill everyone with a single thought," Erik reminded him, and Charles just smiled, still so pretty despite how ugly he was acting.

"No, but if given the chance you would."

"Not everyon-"

"Ah! Silly me," Charles snorted, tapping a palm against his head in mock disbelief. "That's right, just the humans. That makes you so much better than me, darling, you're absolutley right."

"Don't-" Erik tried, but Charles brushed him off, literally, a flick of his hand had Erik flying back away from him, landing on the ground with a hard thud. Mystique crawled over to him, put a hand over his, and let out a small whimper.

"I think we lost," she whispered, and Erik closed his eyes.

"I think you're right."

This might be a little disjointed because it's been a few days since I watched it, but my thoughts on season 2 of X-Men: The Animated Series:

Episode 1 & 2: Till Death Do Us Part

I know they’re having Logan going ham in the Danger Room because he’s in love with Jean, but lalala I can’t hear you, he’s ACTUALLY beating up fake Cyclopses in the Danger Room because of Morph’s death. 

Damn if Logan weren’t, frankly, acting like a little bitch, we could have gotten the Morph reveal much earlier. This is what angsting after a married woman does, Logan. You miss out on precious time with your resurrected bestie with benefits. 

Morph is my silly little pumpkin. Sinister is such a bastard that he lets Morph have temporary self-awareness just to torture them with it. That, or he is just very bad at maintaining his mind control. Anyhow, Morph declares that they’ll have their revenge and switch through different forms “Cyclops! Storm! Wolverine!” And upon turning into Wolverine they fall back on their bed and writhe in agony because that’s their BEST FRIEND. AHHH. 

Morph sending Cherik to the Savage Lands for a deadly date. This is like The Parent Trap but nefarious. 

Morph desperately trying to fight against the mind-control :,0. It's always when they're presented with the promise of being accepted back into the family. All they wanna do is be an X-Man again. 

"You kept me alive! And the evil that's in me! But the worst of us still has some good!" I'm sobbing.

Also yeah. The title is obviously referencing Scott and Jean’s wedding vows. But what if— lissen hear me out hear me out, it’s actually about Wolverine and Morph and their unbreakable bond.

Episode 3: Whatever It Takes

Mjnari, you scared me, boy. He kept getting himself into situations where I was like “YOU BETTER NOT BE MAKING A HEROIC SACRIFICE” and thankfully, no heroic sacrifice, just winning. 

Storm just casually having a son that she's not told anyone about and Rogue being like BABE WHAT??? Babe why did you never tell me you have a child with another woman??

Logan grabbing Morph’s wrists and restraining them behind their back in the weirdest hug imaginable. Gonna headcanon that that’s just how they normally hug because Logan is weird. Gotta use “I’m restraining you” as an excuse to get his arms around someone.

Morph changing between several exes arch enemies of Wolverine while trying to get him off his trail. Hoooo. Morph knows the Deep Lore. 

Episode 4: Red Dawn

Imagine being so stupid you make an indestructible super human who represents your values so well he resolves to murder you for not abiding by those values. And then imagine thawing him even though you couldn’t control him the first time because you want to restart the Soviet Union. Imagine getting through so many steps without thinking of the consequences even once.

Colossus is my sweet baby boy. I love how naively good he is and how it plays off Jubilee, who is also naive as hell. It’s perfectly demonstrated when Jubilee is just like “I’ll just leave a note! ‘Off to stop the reformation of the USSR, food’s in the fridge.’ Okay, let’s go!” And Colossus is like “Yes! Let’s!”

Wolverine gets home from Morph throwing Omega Red in his face during their confrontation to a note saying the runt went ahead to stop Omega Red with no backup?? The timing. 

Episode 5: Repo Man

Canada tries to steal Wolverine’s skeleton what the fuck. 

I appreciate that his old team steps in to save him because they never wanted to drag him back into experimentation, they just wanted their buddy back. 

It’s implied in the flashback in this episode and later on that Wolverine never had bone claws, they’re just a result of the adamantium? Yeah no. Makes no sense. His claws are literally what identify him as a mutant in several interactions. 

Episode 6: X-Ternally Yours

Dog, this weird cult-gang shit makes no sense to me. It’s good that Gambit got away from that nonsense. 

Lol Rogue getting upset that Gambit is getting married but immediately being like AHA when it’s revealed he’s there against his will. 

Episode 7 & 8: Time Fugitives

Absolutely genius having a time travel episode followed by a second time travel episode to fix the previous episode. They got to reuse so much animation, and frankly, I'm proud of them for the creativity they employ to be unoriginal. 

Episode 9: A Rogue's Tale

I already knew Rogue’s backstory, but hell, they really capture the dread of Rogue being forced by her mother to kill another person. There was so much innocence in her voice yelling that she didn’t want to hold on, that it felt wrong. God, I hate Mystique so much for this. Rogue is right in saying Mystique only cared about her powers. Sure maybe she does see her as a daughter, but would she have even spared the girl a second glance if she weren’t such a powerful mutant? Hell no. 

Episode 10: Beauty & the Beast

I was literally musing about how this episode's themes reminds me of Beauty and the Beast... and that's literally the title. 

Graydon Creed: “MUTANTS AND ALL THOSE RELATED TO THEM MUST BE DESTROYED!!!” Me: 👀 are you sure about that you dumb bitch.

Logan infiltrating the Friends of Humanity? Amazing. Showstopping. He did so amazing, bravo. Get this man an award. And y’all know he’s been sitting on the info that Creed is Sabretooth’s son for so long lol. It’s so cathartic of a reveal. 

I wonder… how does this affect Creed? After all, at the end of ’97, it’s said he’s got people rallying behind him as a political candidate. Did people just forget what a dirty snivelling little hypocrite he is? Did news of his parentage never reach the general public? Is it like water under the bridge bc he technically denounces his parents? What’s up with that?

(Aside: they call Sabretooth Graydon Creed Sr.. Yeah, I’d change my name to Victor. The real kicker is that he named his son after himself. No wonder Junior is so mad at his pops.)

Anyhow, even though it’s technically not canon to anything but the movie continuity, I’m gonna keep headcanoning Sabretooth and Wolverine as estranged brothers because I would love to see Logan continuing to hold this over Graydon’s head by telling him to call him ‘Uncle Logan’. 

Episode 11: Mojovision

I Dream of Jean fucking got me. Looks like Mojo’s programming is geared towards me. 

After reading Exiles I’m just sitting here like “:((( I wish Morph was here... Morph would be slaying…”

Episode 12 & 13: Reunion

See, Wolverine uses his claws here, and they have him say his claws aren’t a result of his mutation. Baby what? Now, I think it totally makes sense for his claws to still be functional even in a place where mutant powers are cancelled out. After all, they’re a part of his skeleton. Like if Nightcrawler were there, he wouldn’t lose the ability to move his tail, yeah? Just no teleporting. Is there really like a continuity where the claws aren’t a mutant trait???

Also his hands gotta really hurt doing that without his healing.

Anyhow MORPH MORPH MORPH MORPH

I love Wolvie meeting a fellow Wild Man. 

Morph is my sweet babe I love them so much, you go bitch, you fight that mind control, you shoot at Sinister so Cyclops can hit him with his beams. Go off queen. 

I haven’t really been giving notes about the Savage Lands before now because I found everything about it boring till this episode. And that’s because while I love me some Cherik, those fucks were getting absolutely nothing done. Besides like that one funny moment where Magneto was throwing rocks at a dino and calling it a stupid lizard. 

Love Charles briefing Erik about the steps he's gonna be taking to aid in Morph’s recovery?? So random. Like the present parent trying to get the absentee to get involved in their children’s lives. "We're gonna take Morph to Muir Island... 👉👈 if you want to visit..."

Magneto does not take the hint and bails on family like a coward. We'll get you yet, Magneto, even if it takes killing Charles to get you to provide for the kiddos.

while it is funny to think and joke about, i think the genuine belief that Erik's wife and daughter were used for the main purpose of trying to erase Cherik is just such a truly awful take. there is no contextual evidence to even back up the claim, by the end of the movie Erik still choses Charles yet again.

so I'm here to present my succinct, evidence-based claim: Erik's wife and daughter only worked to further cement his and Charles shared narrative.

in the film, these two girls act as flat characters; very little information is given about them, no character development takes place, and they take up very little screentime. what they add to the films story however is a point emotional attachment outside the world of mutant vs. humans for Erik to settle into, heal, and escape from his previous life as a literal terrorist. unfortunately for die hard Cherik truthers, this means an emotional attachment out side the world Erik shares with Charles. this is a genuine attempt by Erik to remove himself from the cycle of fear and rage he has been a slave to since his childhood, and it really did all work out for him. he had a job, a community, and he was able to create a life perfectly for himself. despite needing to hide his powers, this was probably the best outcome he was ever going to achieve.

but, now that the franchises main antagonist has settled into a life of warmth and comfort, its time for the narrative to get moving again. you cant tell a story without its antagonist. yes, Apocalypse is the main antagonist for this specific movie as he is the source for the majority of the films tension and conflict, but this movie is a part of the over arching narrative primarily concerning Professor X, his X Men, and their arch-nemesis, Magneto. being each others narrative foils and their decades old disputes they are quite literally a package deal, there will never be a Professor X without his Magneto. So, what better way to pull our protagonist his literal other half into the mix than a good old fashioned fridging?

"women in refrigerator's" is a literary trope originally coined in 1999 by comic book fan Gail Simone. this term is used to refer to the trope in which a female loved one is killed, injured, or otherwise hurt in order to further the plot. the trope is one in which women are used as disposable. (there is so much more i could say about the sexism rooted in this fairly common trope but its fairly self explanatory and doesn't pertain to directly to the topic at hand.) once you actually learn about this you cant stop noticing it (ever seen a Disney movie?). it is particularly common in comic books as a heavily male dominated field of media. it is an easy, fast way to get emotion and anger out of a character and gives them the motive to fulfill whatever is needed for the story to continue. in this case, the rage born from Erik's grief lead him to join Apocalypse as one of his horse men. ultimately pushing him towards yet another fated conflict with Charles, the climax of almost any X Men film.

if the writers were truly conscious and concerned with fans perception of Erik and Charles questionably platonic relationship, they wouldn't have used a trope to sling shot the man directly back into his fandom assigned love interest. its incredibly unreasonable to claim a device clearly intended to send him closer to his other half was in an attempt to separate them.

and, claiming that his family was just an attempt to erase Cherik feels like completely ignoring Erik's past experiences with fridging that truly work to build the complexities and tragedy of their strictly canon relationship. this is the second time he has had his whole world ripped away from him. the second time he has turned to rage and violence to protect what little of himself he has left. this is the first time however that he realizes he has more than just a little broken piece of himself left. this is the first time he is able to realize there is another soul out there who can see past the rage he is blinded by. the first time he has had someone who continues to see the good in him.

and this is me looking at this from as unbiased a perspective as i can. this is hardly even subtext. Erik's flashback wasn't stuck in there just because they needed more screen time, everything holds significance. it was blatantly telling us that in that very moment Erik realized he still had Charles, the one person who can actually claim to know someone, the one person who genuinely knows HIM.

I watched the First Class era recently and am just….a lil broken up Re:: the pain of Charles losing his best friend and his sister at the same time… and then bottling up that pain for as long as he could until “you took her away and you left me!”

Okay, nonnie! I've got a few here that may interest you. Now, I'm a big fan of hurt/comfort fics, so I can't promise anything too gentle, unfortunately. 😅 (Most of my bookmarks are hella dark apparently) Anyway! Ill list you some I recently read, and mostly remember.

How Still My Love by Regann

"A mysterious sleeping disease, three loyal guardians, and a friend-turned-foe with unclear motives. It might sound like something out of a fairy tale but it's life after Cuba in the Xavier manor for what's left of the so-called X-Men. When Charles can no longer lead them, it's up to Hank, Alex and Sean to figure out a way to protect their mentor, especially once Erik comes seeking an audience. (Variously nicknamed "the Fairytale Fix-it," "Snow Charles and the Three Wishes," and "Alex feels via Charles/Erik." All three are pretty accurate.)"

This one I highly recommend, it's so cute, and the way the author played with fairy tales is fun. Fair warning tho, Erik doesn't stay at the end of this fic. But Charles' heart is a bit more mended.

This one is a time travel fic. Basically young child age Charles, Raven, and Erik replace their older counterparts. The kids build a close friendship real quick, and I believe it's ongoing.

X-men finale reaction...

OMG, hell yes. This was epic, this was a triumph and looking at all of the ten episodes together, THE best X-men adaptation ever. It did honor to the source material and was the best decision to keep it in the 90s and not modernize it And it took it beyond and super deep. The music was epic- I want the soundtrack or would attend a live concert of the music. Then the plot and fan service done to the viewers was chef's kiss perfection. There may be detractors out there and I may come down from this cloud and be able to nitpick but not now. I'm too excited and thrilled.

Firstly, I love that Disney is promoting X-men on the main page and was the first thing I saw when I opened the app. Yes, Disney! Disney/Marvel, congrats. You helped create a masterpiece of modern storytelling that revived an old almost forgotten piece of comic cartoon history and pulled it into the modern age. It was perfect timing and us old fans who grew up on TAS was thirsting after, but you also brought in new viewers and viewers like my husband who could care less about cartoon superheroes. But the storylines were compelling and the writing was deep, X-men 97 deserves its flowers. (Spoilers ahead).

Secondly, the writing and character development in this episode was fan service, it was perfection, and it was very well written. Starting with Cherik which I had some objections to last week due to feeling that Xavier was being holier than thou and not understanding Erik. But in this episode seeing the lengths that Xavier would go for Erik melted my heart. I still have some thoughts about Erik "making his X-men turn on each other" as I feel that they are grownups with their own minds, but the rest of the episode with Xavier cradling Erik and willing to go down with the ship with him is gold. Then they busted out the Badass X-women and I loved it! I am a huge Rogue fan and they did right by her- she was accepted back into the team no questions asked and she was so fierce. I teared up when she attacked Bastion with the "Remember it" line and I loved the whole team stepping up, working together to battle Bastion. I also loved the Cable/Scott/Jean storyline and we even got some Morpherine!

Thirdly, some of my predictions came true! I predicted in a previous post that the Avengers and other Marvel characters would make cameos in the finale and I was right! It was a veritable who's who of Marvel characters and I cackled in delight when they popped up! Predictably, Iron Man and Captain America were in the White House with the President. I knew that they weren't sitting out on this one! Then we saw Daredevil, Silver Samurai, Black Panther and Dora Milaje, Psylocke and many more!

Last but certainly not least, Apocalypse and more importantly DEATHBIT! As a ROMY shipper, I squeed so much at this! The fans have been dreaming about this since ep 5 as it gives us even a sliver of having some part of Gambit back and now it's confirmed with that Queen of Hearts cliffhanger. Oooh yes! Even if it's not the Real Remy back, just having Deathbit and a glimmer of Remy back in the storyline is juicy and desired indeed. There are a LOT of Romy and Gambit fans out there and this satisfies us and has us wanting more. Even if it's crazy and complicated, fans are going to eat up a Deathbit storyline, so yes please! And beyond Gambit, Apocalypse is a badass villain- kudos for the writers going here. Comic and Cartoon fans alike can agree that time travel is interesting and will come up with many cool, fascinating new storylines.

I can't wait until Season 2, but until then I will be rewatching the finale a million times. I am so glad that the writers understood the assignment and gave us this masterpiece. It calmed my Romy heart, gave us amazing battle sequences, had fun Marvel cameos, and perfectly set up next season.
