Kiki is laying on the floor of her would-be childhood room, depressed after the funeral for Nirisa. Her sister comes in and lays down on the floor across from her.
Kiki: the masters said the Force was a peaceful ocean, and the loss of one Jedi was merely a drop. the tides will rise and fall and the cycle continues. It's supposed to prevent despair, to help us feel less like each loss is a monumental devastation, but this doesn't feel like an ocean, it's a HOLE, a gaping hole, in my -- I can feel it. It's a wound I don't know how to fill and it repulses me but I can't stop touching it. There's a hole in the Force where my sister should be. I'm scared I'm going to follow. I'm scared I'm going to fall in.
Kiki begins to sob.
Kiki: I should have known her. Her last day with me, she was trying to get to know me. She was giving me advice. I didn't even -- my own sister -- now our mother's dead and I feel like I was closest to Nirisa when I shared a womb with her.
Okunna: Is this what's called 'attachment'?
Kiki nods.
Okunna: (beat) I can't say I understand your religion or all of your beliefs, but this one, I do. Nobody should ever feel like you do now. Nobody should wail like you did.
Kiki: I'm breaking the Code.
Okunna: Then break it. Break it here, now, where the pieces don't matter and the shards cannot hurt you. Pour out every drop in that ocean until you're empty.
Kiki: I-I can't--
Okunna: I will help you clean it up, my sister. Then you can return to the Temple in one piece.

44% of women, girls in Nigeria experience menstrual poverty - Expert
A Public Health Physician, Dr Nkiru Ezeama says that about 44 per cent of women and girls in Nigeria are experiencing menstrual poverty as they can not afford N500 sanitary pads. Ezeama made the ascertion at a symposium for schools girls organised by Zobam Charity Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, to mark Menstrual Hygiene Day, on Thursday in Awka. Menstrual Hygiene Day is marks every May 28, to highlight the importance of menstrual hygiene and raise awareness of issues faced by women and girls who do not have access to sanitary products. She said that menstrual poverty made many women and girls resort to unhygienic materials to absorb menstrual blood which could cause reproductive infections, urinary infection among others. Ezeama described menstruation as the monthly expulsion of blood and cellular fragments from the uterus that starts at puberty. According to her, menstruation is a normal biological process and part of a woman's life and not something to be ashamed of or to be stigmatised. "It is sad that many women and girls have their confidence eroded for the mere fact that they menstruate. They feel ashamed when they are in their periods which most times causes mental stress and could lead to anxiety and depression. "Approximately 1.2 billion women and girls across the world do not have sufficient access to menstrual hygiene products due to poverty. "Several are deprived of facilities where they can treat menstrual pain, change their pads and access to dispose pads in good facilities. "According to statistics, one in 10 girls in Africa miss school because of their periods and about 44 per cent of women and girls in Nigerian are experiencing period poverty, they cannot afford N500 sanitary pads," she said. The Public Health physician said that poverty, gender inequality, cultural abuse and lack of access to basic services contributed to why menstrual hygiene needs were unmet. Ezeama urged manufacturers of menstrual hygiene products to consider biodegradable friendly, hygienic and cheaper products that could be easily absorbed in the soil, as a way of addressing menstrual poverty in the country Also speaking, Prof. Stella Okunna, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Paul’s University, Awka said that menstruation was not a taboo or abomination. "In rural areas, many women grew up believing that menstruation is a taboo or something unclean and till date they still feel embarrassed when in their periods. "Menstruation shows you are developing appropriately as a young woman and you should be happy because you are on the right part to adulthood," she said. In her remarks, Mrs Chizoba Okolieukwu, the Convener, said the symposium was to sensitise students on importance of good menstrual hygiene to restore the confidence of the girl-child. "We need to sensitise our girls on personal hygiene, how to make reusable pad as an alternative way of procuring menstrual pad as most of them were from low income families and can not afford disposable pads. "This is also an avenue to donate sanitary pads to girls in about 30 secondary schools in the state under the 'One Girl One Pad Initiative'. We are calling on government, individuals, and foreign donors to key into this project, " she said Read the full article

IndoMie, IndoPride
Figure 1. Indomie Goreng
Whether we are in a hurry and need something easy and quick to eat,
starving in the middle of the night, or found ourselves running out of money in the end of the month, there is always a loyal companion that helps us Indonesians go through all these things. Indomie, the savior of empty wallets. Indomie has consistently been given many prestigious award in its history. Not only is it proof that Indonesia’s “special taste” is loved all over the world, but it is a testament to how large Indonesia’s domestic market is. Despite warnings that eating instant noodles for long periods will damage our digestion system, yet for the sake of convenience and its variety of addictive tastes, these noodles continue to be popular, are cheap, and indeed, filling.
Advertising, which is the economic function of the mass media in the society, is increasingly becoming important. Okunna (2002) sees advertising “as a non personal communication or information usually paid for and usually persuasive in nature about goods and services or ideas by identified sponsors through various media. Narrative knowledge tells the story of human intentions and deed, and situates them in time and space. It mixes the objective and the subjective aspects, relating the world as people see it (Czarniawska, 2004). Narratives are a common mode of communication. People tell stories to entertain, to teach and to learn, to ask for an interpretation and to give one. Therefore, advertisement is one form of narratives.
Brand storytelling is the cohesive narrative that weaves together the facts and emotions that a brand evokes. In addition to give customers reasons why they should buy a product or service, business shares the story behind their brand, why it exists, and why this matters, consistently across all communication. This is often included in advertisements. However, in narratives, people tend to present what they want the audience to see. In other words, leaving out information that might be perceived as bringing disadvantage and feeding them only the good sides. Consumers have always been at the receiving end of continuous bombardment of persuasive messages.
Figure 2. Indomie Birthday Cake becoming a trend in Indonesia
Similarly, what appeals to consumers of Instant Indomie noodles television advertisements was mostly the song, the concept and the picture quality. Sellers often leave out the fact that how Indomie was bad for the the health. However, even after knowing how Indomie affects our health, no one seems to be able to resist buying it. This is due to the power that Indomie have in the food industry. This makes people unwilling to change preferences of instant noodles even if there are better ones out there, since we are all too familiar with this brand. After gaining a lot of awards and appreciation, it is not surprising that we often refer to Indomie each time we are mentioning instant noodles. It was also noted that if the price of Indomie increases, consumers would still patronize the product. Nowadays, cafes that has Indomie as their special menu is everywhere. It is definitely easy to find any form of food that collaborate with Indomie.

JUST IN:Obi blames ‘selfish’ leaders for country’s woes.

JUST IN:Obi blames ‘selfish’ leaders for country’s woes.
A previous Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has accused the emergencies shaking the country on political pioneers, who he blamed for self-centeredness and refusal to utilize public assets for the public great.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
As per him, the greater part of the security challenges have financial connotations.
Mr. Obi said if the pioneers had put resources into key spaces of public turn of events, for example, private companies and occupations creation, Nigeria would have been a superior and more secure spot.
He accepts their longing for self-magnification and absence of obligation to advance was behind a portion of the difficulties confronting the country.
Obi talked at the Third Session of the Fifth Synod of Ogbaru Diocese, Anglican Communion, at St James Anglican Church, Iyiowa-Odekpe in Onitsha.
As far as he might be concerned, political pioneers and tip top are the significant reasons for the issues Nigerians face.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
He said: “You can’t have a multitude of world’s most unfortunate individuals and hope to go in and rest calmly around evening time.
“A large number of inactive individuals in Nigeria don’t have the foggiest idea where their next dinner will come from, on the grounds that they are jobless.
“We have, today, more than 15 million out of younger students wandering the roads. Each of these is a prepared instrument of emergency in a country. The political pioneers have neglected to make the best choice.
“That is the reason we have a wide range of wrongdoing and uprising in various pieces of the country,” Obi said.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The previous lead representative noticed that there might be seemingly no end in sight to every one of the emergencies except if the pioneers evade debasement and genuinely utilize public assets to benefit society.
He approached Nigerians to keep on appealing to God for God’s mediation in the issues of the country so God may contact the hearts of the pioneers to have the interest of individuals on a basic level.
Liking Obi for his thoughtful presence at the Synod, liberal help to the congregation and steady obligation to a superior society, the Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, Anglican Communion, The Rt Rev’d Prosper A. Amah, implored God to favor Obi and take him to more elevated levels where he will contact more lives.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Obi was joined by the previous Anambra Commissioner for Budgeting and Economic Planning Prof Stella Chinyere Okunna and the previous Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Dr Patrick Nky Obi.

Just in: Obi-Datti Campaign Council confirms Obi’s arrest, detention in UK
The Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Office has confirmed that the Labour Party (LP), presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, was arrested and detained on arrival at the Heathrow Airport by UK Immigration officials on April 7, over a case of mistaken identity. The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Paul University, Awka, Anambra State, Prof. Chinyere Okunna, had in a post on her Facebook page on Wednesday, narrated how Obi told her of his ordeal in London and the harassment he has been facing from powerful politicians in Nigeria to force him to flee from the country. While reacting to the story, spokesman for the Campaign Council, Diran Onifade, in a statement on Wednesday, confirmed that Obi was detained and questioned for an identity duplication offense, which adds credence to Prof. Okunna’s allegations that someone has been impersonating Obi in London. In the statement, Onifade said Obi had arrived the Heathrow Airport in London from Nigeria on Good Friday, April 7, 2023, and joined the queue for the necessary airport protocols when he was accosted by immigration official who handed him a detention note and told him to step aside. “He was questioned for a long time and it was very strange for a man who lived for over a decade in that country. “Since Obi’s face was already an international frame, especially for Nigerians, Africans home, and in Diaspora who are likely to be Obidients, the people quickly raised their voices wondering why he was being delayed.” Onifade said the situation was saved by the spontaneous reaction of Nigerians at Heathrow Airport who were ready to create a scene over Obi’s detention. He further explained that the immigration officials who were also taken aback at the reaction of the people were forced to reveal to those present Obi was being questioned. “Since the impersonator is still at large, the scenario is unimaginable as Obi could be implicated in a series of forbidden acts and even be framed in a manner that could be a huge embarrassment to him, his family, his party, the Obidient Movement, and indeed Nigeria, where he currently and indisputably remains the conscience of the people. “Obi’s telephone line was also bugged when they were possibly looking for information to portray him badly before a section of the country who had voted for him massively. “As if they were not getting the desired results of denting his image, and possibly placing the traducers under a heavier conscience load, they tried to persuade him to leave the country and go take a rest. “It’s also not impossible that those urging him to leave the country may have planted the impersonators ostensibly to tar the Eagle’s immaculate appearance,” Onifade said, adding, that Obi has been under all kinds of attack, since the February 25th presidential election. “Even the Federal Government who directed him to go to court over the result of the election despatched the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammad, to the United States to attempt at de-marketing him and accused him of treason. “The Obi-Datti Media office will like to therefore assure all persons of goodwill especially the Obidients that the Rock is not deterred as he is ready to suffer the pain and remain even more determined to pursue whichever path his creator destined for him in Nigeria.” Read the full article

JUST IN:Borrow ideas from China, not money - Peter Obi tells FG

JUST IN:Borrow ideas from China, not money - Peter Obi tells FG
Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019 elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has said that borrowing progressive business ideas from China will be more beneficial to Nigeria than taking public loans to pump into the economy.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Obi, who made this remark at the 60th Founder’s Day Lecture of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, said China had gone through different stages of national development to arrive at their present level.
He said it would, therefore, pay Nigeria better to copy China’s economic development template rather than running to them for loans.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Obi argued that China that could only boast of a GDP per capita of $960 in year 2000, had grown to a GDP per capita of $10,275 in 2019, with a High Human Development Index of 0.798 in 2019 as against 0.594 in year 2000.
Obi said the huge economic development seen in China is as a result of huge investment in MSME sector, which drastically reduced unemployment and increased government revenue.
In his words: MSMEs in China which constitute about 95% of Chinese firms, account for 60% of China’s GDP and contributes more than 65% of the import and export business in China.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“They also contributed about 50% of the overall tax revenue of government. MSMEs constitute about 95% of all enterprises in China.
“China’s GDP is today about $14 trillion, which means that 60% translates to about $8.4 trillion— about 21 times the GDP of Nigeria.
“MSMEs account for over 60% of industrial output and provide over 60% of the overall employment and 80% of urban employment in China.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“Talking about the growth of the MSMEs, 10 years down the line, 60% of these MSMEs have shown to become large corporate when compared with Nigeria that 96% are still at the micro stage.
“China has about 840 million people employed (which is 60% of the population), and MSMEs provide 60% of these, which is 500 million people.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“In urban employment, the contribution of MSMEs is even greater; 80% of urban employment is attributed to MSME; of about 500 million people employed in urban areas, MSMEs employ 400 million.
“China had planned to create 50 million jobs from 2015-2020, which is 10 million annually, and is religiously following the plan year-on-year.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“In fact, China has consistently surpassed its annual target. China has an unemployment rate of only 3.7%.”
The event was attended by notable Nigerians, including the principal members of the university.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Obi was accompanied by Professor Stella Okunna, Engr. Patrick Obi, Mr. Ndubisi Menakaya, Mr. Paulinus Aniagbaso, among others.
