I am so honored to have had a chance to write a guest article for my all time favorite yuri publication, Okazu Yuri! My guest review is about Himegami No Miko, the fourth entry in the Kannazuki No Miko universe. And to my surprise...I really liked it? Please enjoy the article!

Pork chops coated in @abokichilife #okazu and mayonnaise and then covered in panko on a bed of rice seasoned with sesame, soy, and mirin. Kind of a lazy take on katsudon? (at Banning, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoRXs57s2kb/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Disability Yuri Romance 'The Moon on a Rainy Night' Anime Adaptation Rumored
Tumblr media
On Sunday, rumors about an anime adaptation of Kuzushiro's high school Yuri drama series The Moon on a Rainy Night (Amayo no Tsuki) emerged online. These rumors come only days after the domain for a potential website, amayonotsuki.jp, was first registered on October 24th.
Tumblr media
Notable anime leaker Sugoi LITE also corroborated the rumors on X (formerly Twitter).
Tumblr media
Kodansha USA, which has published the series in English since September 2023, describes the manga:
One rainy night, Saki is rushing to a piano lesson when she crashes into a beautiful, long-haired girl, dropping her sheet music in the process. Saki stutters an apology, but the girl simply hands back her sheet music and leaves without a word. Saki begins her first day of high school the following morning, only to find the stranger from the night before sitting at the desk next to hers. She learns that the girl’s name is Kanon and that she is not quite completely deaf, but very hard of hearing. Though Kanon needs to be close to people to read their lips, she tends to push people away with her icy demeanor. Through one kind gesture, Saki slowly begins breaking down the walls around Kanon, even as she feels something new blossoming within her.

The Moon on a Rainy Night has received positive reviews from critics and has been published in over 20 countries. Erica Friedman of Okazu described the first English volume as "a Yuri series that can and should be read by everyone." The series is celebrated for its characters, story, and disability representation. It was also nominated in the Next Manga Awards web category in 2022 and 2023.
The manga began serialization on Comic Days in June 2021, and upon release, it ranked first in the site's "original" category. Kodansha released the seventh collected volume in Japanese in June 2024, the same month that Kodansha USA released the fifth English volume.
Kevin Steinbach translates the manga into English, with lettering by Jamil Stewart.

Nishijima Hidetoshi and Uchino Seiyou — we are so damn lucky to have these two acting in the BL genre. One GLANCE, one sidelong GLANCE, a little raised eyebrow, a two-twist head shake in recognition of something. Nishijima as Shiro in his reading glasses, communicating either sympathy or murder as Kohinata apologized for the birthday flowers Wataru sent to Shiro. These guys eat rookie actors for okazu.
What Did You Eat Yesterday? has been the must-watch of this early winter season, but also? We as BL fans are getting a damn MASTER CLASS in the kind of acting we could enjoy if this genre were even more mainstream. MORE, MORE OF THESE EXQUISITE PERFORMANCES. I’m calling for a season 3, or at least a New Year’s special! GIVE ME MORE, TV Tokyo!!!!

One of the side Okazu Yokocho alleys in Torigoe, Taito-ku, Tokyo.
A retro shopping street with a downtown atmosphere.
The tenement houses and signboards where the pre-war buildings still remain are very good. It is a nice shopping street close to Shin-Okachimachi Station.
東京都台東区鳥越にあるおかず横丁の一枚。
下町情緒漂うレトロな商店街。
戦前の建物が今も残る長屋や看板がとても良い雰囲気です。新御徒町駅からも近い素敵な商店街です。

in front of Kita-Sendai Station, there's a bento/okazu stand that somehow sells food for less than buying the ingredients and making it yourself. it's even cheaper than buying pre-made meals that the grocery store. here is what I have tried from them so far:
mapo tofu (with rice): typical Japanese mapo tofu. what's not typical is that it was 200 yen. 200 YEN! for a fresh-cooked meal! I got it on a whim while passing through and I became very interested in the shop since then
buta shogayaki (pork in a ginger sauce, with rice): this was two meals worth of food, plus I saved some of the pork to put in instant noodles afterwards. it was 400 yen. no filler at all, not even any vegetables besides one sad leaf of lettuce, just meat on rice (my brother would like it)
deep-fried gyoza: 7 gyoza were 180 yen. the flavour was good, and not many vegetables inside them either aside from ones that add to the taste like green onion. I personally prefer steamed dumplings, but beggars can't be choosers
beef tendon korokke: 80 yen, not the cheapest korokke in town. a korokke is like a potato patty which is covered in breadcrumbs and deep-fried. this one had a strong "Japanese" taste. for comparison, the beef korokke at Lawson has none of that and winds up tasting like shepherd's pie. there was definitely beef, but I didn't notice the texture of the tendon much. beef tendon is not that popular in Japan, so I presume they meant just leftover scrapings of beef. overall I did like it and would get it again
I shall report on more whenever I pass through the area
