Character: Nanami
Headcanon: PersonalAttendant/Servant!Nanami
Notable Tags/warnings (Full list at the end): Black!fem reader, oral (receiving) *Flourishing* Femdom, slight dubcon, Slightly possessive Nanami (even as a servant? Bold of him, I know)
Warnings: Like all my stories/content, this will have adult themes and as such, be strictly for/aimed towards adults (18+). Please do not recreate anything in my stories/content outside of properly consenting roleplay between adults of sound mind. This is pure fantasy for personal entertainment.
A/N: This was slightly Inspired after reading an adult Manga about a (futa) woman who had a butler who served her every need. Nanami was chosen for This headcanon because, well, with the personality Gege gave him, he seemed the most likely to fit. *And also, if we’re being real, I was shopping for intimate wear recently and saw a steel boned corset that reminded me of Nanami’s tie. *The way my heart nearly busted out of my CHEST in the store when I saw it.*
Also, if you’re new to my writing’s I just want to give heads up that my work tends to be on the lengthy side (God free me from the shackles of what feels like excessive writing)
Note: I Might do a part two.
Other works and Links are here for you in case you’re interested.
As always, Happy reading!

To be perfectly honest, you were in awe when you first met Nanami. You found him intimidating, even as a woman of noble birth who had been around important people. primarily because you immediately found him to be very attractive
He's your personal attendant, your right hand at your service. But somehow, with you having to crane your neck slightly to look up at him (paired with his stoic expression), you can't help but feel a bit inadequate to him.
At that point, he curtly nods and bows slightly. "It's nice to finally meet you, Mistress Y/N." It's a simple yet powerful greeting. As it convinces you that appearances be damned, he acknowledges you as his mistress.
While you grew up more privileged than others, you never really had a personal attendant, let alone one you were physically attracted to. nevertheless, you relented.
From that point on, you welcomed Nanami to your side, which had its pros and cons.
Pros being: He was an effective and thorough personal attendant, a great conversationalist when engaged, and easily dedicated tasks for the other helpers in your manor while you worked.
Now for the cons: Your attraction toward him showed no signs of easing up. If anything, it increased. and even if you denied it, your body wouldn't.
The way your Pussy would throb in your panties whenever he was in close proximity—you couldn't help but clench your thighs together. But when you feel his strong hands actually touch you?
"Mistress?" You faintly hear him enter your room in the early mornings, as is his custom. But you refuse to leave your king-sized canopy bed. So, you lie on your side, pretending to sleep, beneath your Prussian blue mulberry silk bedding.
You know Nanami will push back the black mesh curtain of your canopy in order to reach you. And of course, he does.
As you hear his light movement as he approaches, your body warms up with anticipation and excitement. When you feel the bed dip in front of you, you know he's sitting down.
"Mistress, you have to wake up." He speaks quietly. That's when you feel his hand on the crook of your waist. That heat in you? becomes an inferno at that point, the source beginning beneath his touch.
That inferno spreads through every area of your body when you feel his thumb soothingly running back and forth, even beneath your silk sheets. particularly the area between the thick of your thighs. When you twitch slightly due to the delightful ache, your performance suffers.
"If I have to, I'll stay by your side for as long as you want to continue with this performance, Y/N," he chuckles deeply.
Please do, you think. but ultimately let your eyes fully open to see a familiar pair of warm chestnut brown ones. A small smile is present on his pink lips.
You smile weakly back at him. Partially jokingly, you say to him, " I know how much you're a stickler for structure in schedules; I wouldn't disrupt it by making you suffer like that."
"Suffering? I don't think so—though, at your hands, I wouldn't mind. Not to mention the fact that" Nanami motions to the open area next to you. "Your bed is large enough to accommodate both of us," he says casually before gently squeezing your waist and rising from your bed to leave.
Your mouth nearly drops to your chest.
You couldn't get to the bathroom fast enough, and as you suspected when you dropped your pajama shorts and spread your legs, you were embarrassingly wet.
You spent an extra bout of time in that shower that morning, pleasuring your aching pussy as best you could. and while you were successful, it wasn't enough.
and this insatiable feeling persists from that point on. at first being Vexing—bearable as long as you came. Until it eventually gets to the point where you can't even do that with your fingers or your toys.
Now? You were becoming increasingly agitated. And you were certain your helpers around the manor had noticed, especially Nanami.
You were ashamed of yourself; despite your parents' considerable wealth and lavish upbringing, they taught you to be respectful of everyone, regardless of their financial or social standing.
You're on the verge of withdrawing out of frustration, dismissing everyone to go on an early vacation until you can present yourself as a better lady of a prestigious manor.
And maybe Nanami is aware of this. because one night, after most of the helpers have gone to bed, he enters your home office and requests to know why you've changed your temperament.
He's the last person you want to see, but, honestly, you're not surprised. even when you dismiss Nanami's services for the day or night he still made himself readily available for you.
The only consideration he appears to have when being dismissed is that he doesn't wear a dress shirt or suit. He wore loose-fitting lounge pants with a simple shirt, much like he does now. Only the dark shirt he was wearing now seemed to fit his lean and slightly muscular frame.
But back to his question
Instead, you simply concede and continue to claim that you are simply intimately frustrated. You were at ease with your sexuality to the point where you could discuss it as an adult.
"I see," Nanami says after your explanation. then, standing, he rounds your desk. "I'd wish you'd admitted this earlier; we could have handled this much sooner, Mistress."
"Handled what sooner?" you ask, dumbfounded. When he comes to a halt in front of your swiveled chair, he drops to his knees. In front of you.
In his calm, cool manner, he says with the greatest certainty, "I'm yours, Mistress." Yours. "It's my duty to handle all and anything that may leave you in or cause you stress."
At this moment, his large hands grasp the sides of your legs at your knees. That's when it dawns on you what he's about to do.
"But wait, this isn't—you don't need to do something like that, Nanami."
Nanami abruptly cuts you off by encircling his hands behind your bended knees. You're not a small girl, so when he drags you forward with ease, it adds to your astonishment.
"It’s not only my responsibility to attend to your needs but also to properly guide you within your title. But I suppose your reluctance is to be expected when you're given something new. You shouldn't be troubled by this, Mistress. You will learn to use all aspects of me in whatever way you deem fit, not just because it is my obligation but also because it is ultimately my privilege." He pushes your legs to your chest, effectively bunching your pleated tartan skirt high around your waist.
"Oh, god," you groan quietly, gripping the seat's edge. The cool air caresses your bare pussy.
"You don't need to be ashamed. Or even shocked for the matter," His words grab your attention. his piercing gaze staring through you, he speaks, "I know your patterns and am well aware that as of very recently, you tend not to wear panties."
He recognizes my patterns? Does he...keep an eye on me when I'm not looking?
Your heart skips a beat as the strong possibility dawns on you. But you don't have much time to think about it because the moment Nanami's pink tongue peaks from his lips, he spears it between your brown folds.
"Jesus Christ!" you exclaim, sinking your head into the material of your chair.
Nanami only grunts in response—he's far too busy French kissing your pussy to respond. Genuinely, it sounded as if a starving man was feasting on the juice of fruits. the way eyes fluttered close at his occasional grunts, which were soft yet deep against your skin—the entire sight had your legs trembling as he held them tightly against your chest.
You're not sure how long you sat there, laboriously breathing, with Nanami devoted to serving you oh-so-slowly. But he eventually pulls back somewhat. his gleaming face looking intently at you.
"Does my mistress want release? or would she like to prolong it for later?"
"Y-you were waiting? for me?" you gawk.
"Of course," you say. He nods obediently. "If my mistress truly wants to cum, I believe she has the power to command; to tell me to make it so."
You couldn't help but feel irritated about this.
You could only translate his tone as someone who was waiting on you. And as if he were slightly testing you.
while you were understood Personal attendants were not always docile servants. You couldn't help but feel that Nanami needed to be taken down a notch by you.
You, his mistress,
The irritation began to morph into something a bit stronger.
"Finish," you say, but that doesn't stop you from reaching down, running your hands through his blonde hair, and directing him toward your engorged clit—which you now suspect he'd been avoiding to edge you.
Your eye is drawn to the sly grin on his lips just before his mouth latches around your clit. Nanami doesn't waste any time and starts sucking on your throbbing clit.
"Yes, Kento, keep going, make my pussy cum." You mutter into the air.
Your fingers massage his scalp as you rhythmically hump against his mouth. He now moves his hands from the backs of your thighs to the width of your waist. It's almost as if he's trying to keep his meal in place so it doesn't flinch away from his mouth. Not that you had any intention of doing so. especially since you felt so close. Nanami's dexterous mouth—his tongue—lashes out ferociously against your clit. it takes merely a couple swipes before you feel your body seizing and your mouth gaping open in a silent scream. You arch against his mouth, impulsively gripping his hair, and even with him in your grasp, he can angle his head back down to your pulsing hole, where your release coats your outer lips. He laps at your opening with extreme caution. He doesn't want to overstimulate you.
You've just come down from your release, blissfully exhausted. Nonetheless, I find that you don't mind what Nanami is doing (or what he did previously) in the least. Still, you discover yourself urging him away from your pussy with a light grip on Nanami's blonde locks.
He looks up to you, his gaze yet again expectant but also searching yours. as if hes waiting for something. And that is when you recall his previous words—his devotion to serving you. His confidence in his abilities to advise and fulfill you, as well as his eagerness for your approval.
The words flow gently from your full lips, "You did well," As you run your fingers through his scalp, you nod, a lazy smile on your face. "You've made me happy..."
A small smile returns to his lips. Slowly, without breaking your eye contact, he plants a kiss of gratitude atop your pussy's trimmed curly hairs.
"...For now." You add.
Nanami, on the other hand, does not appear to be particularly worried. His dick throb's feverishly within the limits of his briefs as he hears your words and anticipates what's to come.

I Wrote Gloomy Ruins Everything pt. 2
Ok, so I was able get some more Gloomy related things from my parents house.
But before that, a little recap of the craziness that went down a couple days ago: Basically, I wrote a novel almost a decade ago called Gloomy Ruins Everything, which was a dark version of Toy Story with a revenge plot-line. It was briefly, sorta published but didn’t really go anywhere (the “publisher” folded, more on that later, lol) so I washed my hands and went onto other things.
Then, against all odds, after all this time, I find out from my little sister that it has garnered somewhat of a following on Tumblr, with extremely talented artists sharing fan art and memes. I’m still not over it, lol. Maybe I’m just an overly dramatic person but it’s truly been a dream come true.
Anyways, back to what I was talking about! Here’s a closer view of the comic collection pamphlet (front/back) for Gloomy and Friends. I’ll share the comics in future posts.
And here’s the manuscript thesis version of the novel I originally wrote in 2014 for my Creative Writing MFA. The title is absolutely terrible, lol: “Gloomy and Friends: The Search For Happiness,” but it was before I came up with Gloomy Ruins Everything (with help from my old singing teacher in fact). A lot of other things also changed between this version and what was eventually published. In Search for Happiness there was a whole convoluted saga before Gloomy got to Chloe’s Playroom and we actually got to see more of his life in his original home. I streamlined everything ultimately because it took waaaaayyyy too long for the actual plot to begin.
So yeah, more stuff soon to come. I found some promotional content I made for IG that I’ll be uploading soon, as well as some closer shots of “published” novel. Maybe I’ll do some readings too… I’ll have to see.
If you like Gloomy (or even just find the concept interesting) it would be super helpful if you could share/reblog this and future posts. I’d love to find more members of my fandom, haha, if they exist. I’ve written a new book (unrelated from Gloomy) that I’m planning to self-publish soon, but if there’s enough interest I’m considering putting Gloomy Ruins Everything up on Amazon again as an e-book.
Let me know what you think. You’re the best!
—Billy

Pharaoh and reincarnated Queen’s adventures pt. 6
When they were back in Domino City, Britt stayed mostly in her room at the Motou's house. She went to school walking with Yugi but she did her best to ignore 'his' voice. For the most it seemed she was doing a good job at it but then things were getting to her. Tristan and Joey noticed during school Britt was a bit distant like something was bugging her.
"Hey, the girls stay at your place. Is everything ok over there?" Joey asked Yugi
"Yeah, for the most. Britt spends most of her time in her guest room." Yugi said
"Huh? I wonder why." Joey said
After school she walked with them home, she smiled a bit seeming to have things under control. When they made it home she heard Yugi calling her name.
"Britt, is everything alright?" Yugi asked
Britt turned around "Yeah Yugi. Everything is fine, I just need some space ok." She said
She went to take a shower after that because she didn't want to deal with many more questions. It felt good to let the water run on her skin as she closed her eyes.
"My Queen, why do you avoid it. Stop fighting it." She heard his voice
'why? Why do I want to stop fighting...I don't buy that I'm really this Queen.' She thought
While she was thinking about it all her thoughts went back to the almost kiss in the puzzle. A blush formed on her face knowing he could of kissed her right then but he didn't.
'it wouldn't of counted. It would have been in the puzzle not in the real world..but did I want him to kiss me?' She thought
Hathor was sitting in her own guest room thinking about the whole thing. How strange Britt had been since they'd returned. Just thinking of that guy holding her cousin like she was his made her mad. Hathor had always protected Britt from people who wanted to harm her and now it felt like someone was trying to take her place in Britt's protection.
"he won't take my cousin from me." She said under her breath.
Hathor, Bre, Nana and Britt had always known that a pharaoh would return. They'd known for years Britt was this reincarnated Queen and now it seemed as if the time had come for the Pharaoh to meet her again. Hathor knew Britt was stubborn she'd always said she didn't feel as if she was a Queen, especially not a reincarnated one. Now things seemed to be different, Hathor noticed Britt pulling her space away from Yugi.
Britt finished her shower then she went to her guest room after getting dressed. She layed down as she closed her eyes taking a brief nap, it may of only lasted thirty minutes to the hour as she had her usual dream about being called to come to him. She woke up when she heard a lot of commotion in the living room.
Going out to the room she seen the gang with Mokuba.
"What happened?" She asked
Mokuba gave them the load down about the Big 5 that worked for his brother how they changed his pod to capture him in the game.
"Please help save my brother." Mokuba asked Yugi
"Of course, lead the way." Yugi said
Britt mentally and internally figured it out but she set herself to go with the gang to help save Kaiba. Sure he wasn't her favorite person in the world and it seemed danger was going to come whether she wanted it to or not so saving Kaiba would be in best interest.
As they followed Mokuba and he led them to Kaiba's lab that had four pods. As they looked at the pods.
"So, whose going in?" Tristan asked
"I will." Britt, Joey and Yugi said
"I'm going too." Mokuba said
After that was decided each of them got in as they got their duel decks situated inside. Tristan did the work of uploading them to the virtual world and after that happened Tea and Tristan looked at all of them.
"looks like it worked." Tristan said
As the group looked around and then looked at each other, they noticed they were in some kind of forest. Britt and Yugi were looking at their dueling deck and the duel point counter.
"I'm glad I've got my dueling deck with me, but this duel point count makes me nervous." Yugi said
"Yeah me too." She said
Each of them knew what normally happened in a game when you lost a life but this wasn't that kind of game. As they kept walking they noticed they came across a graveyard.
"eh, do we have to go down there?" Britt asked
"Yes, so we can find my brother." Mokuba said
Britt was pretty freaked out the whole time knowing it was a graveyard then suddenly zombie duel monsters came from the ground.
Mokuba took the lead showing how to do the summoning and Yugi took the same motion.
"I summon the rude Kaiser!" Mokuba said
"And I summon the dark magician." Yugi said
"Attack" They said in unison
The zombies were destroyed but they came back and Britt feaked out but she was impressed by Yugi and Mokuba then Joey said he got them as she watched seeing him summon the flame swordsman. Joey was first to lose life points when he called an attack by using his flame swordsman.
After the Zombies were taken care of Joey looked at his life points seeing that they didn't go back up. This little bit of information made all of them realize they needed to be very careful.
As they made their way it wasn't long before they found a sprite, like they put in other games to help players so the four followed it coming across a village.
Once they went around the village, they were looking over different cards that had. They noticed cards in the village were worth points. As they looked at the points they earned they only got 5 points.
Yugi and Mokuba came up with ideas to ask people about Seto Kaiba. Searching every street and asking every virtual person they could find. Later they found out that kaiba was brought through to a mountain.
They tried crossing the desert and they went through a sandstorm. Only a sandtwister came in and took them back to the village making them back where they started.
A virtual villager started laughing "that ain't no way to be crossin' no desert." He said
"Wait you say you know how to cross it then?" Joey asked
The man made a referece to the Niwatori card that it was a desert crossing chicken.
"Thanks Mister, can you tell us where we can go to get a card?" Yugi asked
"I wish I could. But they can't be got they can only be won." He answered
'so a duel card we need to win?' Britt thought,
Virtual world or real world she felt someone watching her knowing too well who it was. Joey made a remark and the man answered.
"You said prized Bird? It sure is, especially around here." He said
Mokuba came up with the idea of looking at the card stands to see if they had it. After so many times of looking they came across a poster that said that the Niwatori card could be won in a fight against the champ.
The four went to the collseum to take a chance at going against the champ. Though the man in charge didn't seem too much interested and then he ate a fly by catching it with his tongue freaking them all out. Joey decided he was the one that was going to go up against the champ but as soon as they made it to the dueling arena and watched him, it wasn't long before they realized the champ was Mai.
Joey took his mask off "Mai." He said
When she recognized him she took her mask off and the others came over.
"Britt, Yugi, Mokuba? What are you doing here?" She asked
Yugi explained about the mission asked her about why she was there and she told them she was testing out this game for the big 5. So she used her Harpie ladie to get the niwatori card for them as they escaped.
Getting to the outskirt of the village, one of them summoned the card and three chickens appeared. Five Niwatori's appeared as they got on and rode them across the desert. There was a sand monster and not long after Joey used his red eyes to destroy it clearing the way and getting them to where they needed a temple.
Mokuba was first to run in and then Britt got off following with Yugi, Joey and Mai behind them. It was after that they came across a labyrinth that they made their way through but they heard a female scream.they were led by the sprite towards the women and then out of maze.
Later they were in a carriage, all of them were listening to her story hearing she was a princess, named Princess Adena. As they arrived at the palace
They were invited back to the palace with a lovely dinner made and it was during that dinner that Mokuba asked about his brother.
"well around this time each kingdom gives an offering. The far kingdom has gave theirs, a stranger that appeared." the princess said
"That's seto" Mokuba said.
The princess told them she was going to be the offering for her kingdom. It was later told to them that they could very well be the heros of legend. It wasn't very long that they each were given outfits to wear in traditional hero style.
Joey was given an outfit that seemed to be of a cavemans. Yugi was given one that seemed more of a knight while Mai was gave one of an amazon. The three of them waited to see what Britt would be wearing, at first she didn't want to come out due to everything happening in the real world.
"Come on Britt, it can't be bad." Mai said
Britt gave a sigh before removing the curtain and they seen her walk out, they had expected something like Mai's but they noticed the Princess had gave her something more of a royal attire that could be fought in.
Yugi smiled "You look great." Yugi said
Britt gave him a smile before she heard his voice. "Yes, My Queen, you do look great." She heard but ignored it.
They all ran outside to be ready to go. Joey used time wizard knowing it was a fifty fifty chance that it would send the ship they needed to get to the castle back in time or cost him his life points.
"let's hope this works" He said.
They watched as it did seem to work. After that everyone got on and it started to go to the floating castle. Eru tagged along to help them. Joey looked back at Britt
"Ain't that kinda royal? Didn't they have anything else?" He said.
"it's what they gave me. I didn't ask any questions.." Britt said
Joey said nothing more to her as he knew it wasn't his place.
Duel monsters came from the castle and went to attack. Each of them called out duel monsters to use. One of the duel monsters attacked Yugi but Eru got in the way.
"No Eru!" Yugi said and held the little pixie in his hands as it became digitized.
Tears fell and he had enough, Britt watched as Yugi turned into Yami. She tried her best not to stare knowing that they had bigger fish to fry over all this. Yami had good skill to help them out to get through.
When they had to let their ride go and get the rest of the way by using the duel monster. Yami grabbed a hold of Britt's arm and pulled her to him as the dark magician helped to the castle.
"hey, I have my Goddess. I could of used her." Britt said in trying to protest.
"I know." Yami said to her.
She looked at him for a second then looked away. She wasn't still buying the whole Queen stuff and she was resisting even now but she let it go knowing they had a mission to finish.
They fought their way until they reached the last level. They had to go up against the big five and their most powerful dragon. Each of them had dragons but Mokuba was the only one without a deck after he gave Seto his deck back.
When the big five tried to attack Mokuba Joey blocked it and it cost him all his life points.
"win this one for us." He said to his friends giving them a thumbs up.
The next one to be attacked was Mai making her life points drop down to zero then she was digitized. They tried to get rid of Seto Kaiba next but Mokuba pushed him out of the way.
It was now down to the three of them, but the big five didn't want to allow that for if any of them could win there'd be consequences. Debating who was next to be attacked wasn't no brainer as they knew Yami had a non-dragon type out but they wanted to get rid of another friend.
Britt looked at Yami "what do we do? Alone our monsters can't take it on." She said.
Yami nod as he tried to devise a plan, but with all the delay the big five took that chance to take out Britt's Goddess's pet Dragon with her life points. She fell to her knees seeing her dragon destroyed.
Yami rushed over to her seeing her be digitized. "It's over for me, it's up to you now. I'm So-" She didn't get to finish as her eyes widened, Yami had cut her off by doing exactly what he had wanted within the puzzle, which was kiss her.
"I'll get you back." Yami said as she disappeared and he was angry by then ready to defeat this to get everyone back.
Now it was up to Yami and Seto Kaiba, they fought strong and hard. By combining monsters they were able to defeat the dragon once and for all. With beating the game they were able to have all their friends back but also be able to return to their world. So when they six of them awoke from their pods they were able to all regroup. Mokuba was once again happy to have his brother back.
"thank you" He said to Yugi and the others.
After parting ways each of them went home, Britt questioned everything. She didn't understand why she'd let it happen when she had been trying to avoid him. Maybe it was because deep down she knew the truth. She knew she couldn't fight destiny or take control of it.

Reading List, Like Water Feeling Its Way Over An Edge double edition.
Fucking in Cornwall, by Ella Frears
The rain is thick and there’s half a rainbow over the damp beach; just put your hand up my top. I’ve walked around that local museum a hundred times and I’ve decided that the tiny, stuffed dog labelled: the smallest dog in the world, is a fake. Kiss me in a pasty shop with all the ovens on. I’ve held a warm, new egg on a farm and thought about fucking. I’ve held a tiny green crab in the palm of my hand. I’ve pulled my sleeve over my fingers and picked a nettle and held it to a boy’s throat like a sword. Unlace my shoes in that alley and lift me gently onto the bins. The bright morning sun is coming and coming and the holiday children have their yellow buckets ready. Do you remember what it felt like to dig a hole all day with a tiny spade just to watch it fill with sea? I want it like that – like water feeling its way over an edge. Like two bright-red anemones in a rock-pool, tentacles waving ecstatically. Like the gorse has caught fire across the moors and you are the ghost of a fisherman, who always hated land.

*** Some stories about how the lockdown is going [TL;DR not well]
This is the "Third Quarter" of the pandemic and what we are experiencing is normal - just ask antarctic researchers, space travel scientists and submarine officers [Tara Law, Time]
"You can’t govern the people you live with in a series of edicts. ... But I have reached the point of 2021 when that’s all I want to do. There’s a suite of feelings and thoughts occurring in the house that I want a complete veto over because everyone is irritating the hell out of me." [Zoe Williams, The Guardian]
"It’s not a pleasure, but it’s the best we’ve got, all of us walking in place until we have somewhere to walk to." I'm sick of walking around [Monica Heisey, The Guardian}
"I’ll read a page of my book before migrating over to Instagram, losing myself in its emptiness for half an hour before I even realize what I’m doing. During work, I’ll write two sentences of a draft, then click new tab and type in Twitter.com. Others spend hours with their eyes glazed over as they flick through TikTok, disappear down YouTube rabbit holes, or sit down at their computers, only to blink and realize they’ve been playing Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla for five hours straight." What the pandemic is doing to our attention spans [Angela Lashbrook, Debugger at Medium]
The case for bringing back the nervous breakdown, or, why it should be easier to admit that it's just a bit too much [Jerry Useem, The Atlantic]
"It’s not just the multitasking that makes us feel muddled. It’s also the stress. Chronically high levels of the hormone cortisol, which is associated with stress, can lead to memory impairments in healthy adults." Why the pandemic has made it feel like your brain is broken [Jessica Grose, The New York Times]
"Ten months into the pandemic, I know the rhythms of the courier networks better than I know my menstrual cycle. Royal Mail in the morning; DPD and Hermes in the afternoon. Amazon comes any time, including late at night. DPD couriers insist on taking a photo of you with the package, mortifyingly. I wonder where these photos go: me in a food-stained tracksuit, dirty-haired, holding an armful of packages I can’t remember ordering with an abashed smile. I pray they never see the light of day." [Sirin Kale, The Guardian]
It's ok to complain about how much we have lost to this pandemic. [Sarah Manavis, The New Statesman]
*** Some stories that are still about the pandemic, but a bit more uplifting
"I think that we map memories onto places—even more, that our memories live inside places. I remember last year visiting the library in Saratoga that I used to go to in high school, which I hadn’t been to since then. It turned out that I only remembered half of it, and when I walked into the (previously) un-remembered half, all of these other memories flooded back with it. Or more generally, when I look across the bay at San Francisco, I feel like I’m looking at my 20s. That’s one of the reasons I’ve always scoffed at the idea of uploading one’s brain, because my memories are all scattered across the landscape, and I have to travel across it to re-encounter them." The Balloon girl and the helium tank mishap
One day I was helping my friends the blowing up some balloons for a party.
Me and my friend decided to have a joke on with her and I jokey push her then she push me back then I suddenly fell back into the helium tank that we where useing to blow up the balloons.
I felt the helium tank nosal go though my pants and into my bum and start to blow helium into me . I start to blow up like a balloon.
I try to get up but the tank was stuck and my belly start inflating becoming big and rounder like I was pregnant.
I look at my friend for help. Who was just stared at me struggling to get up . She just look at me "I have not idea how to get you off ....Oh you are blowing up like a balloon!" Said as pull her phone and record me.
"Oh well not shit I am blowing up like a balloon... Well to be honest I am actually I enjoying this" I thought to myself as I my belly expand bigger and bigger.
My breasts and bum also inflate too I when a cup to D cup and My bum look like two expanding balloons.
I start at her just decided to let it happen. My belly inflate bigger and rounder.
My breasts inflate expand like two balloons for a cup to D cup in a now time and my bum inflate bigger and bigger to the point my bum got bigger than Kim Kardashian bum.
I look like blimp and I noticed that my belly for some reason didn't hurt it just felt good and I try to talk but all that came out was high pitch squeak that made my friend laugh.
I feel my belly and breasts getting bigger and bigger. I start to feel lighter and I start to float.
After about 30 minutes the helium tank ran out of gas and I managed to get it out and my friend look at me and said "I am sorry that I cause this to happen but you got admit you look cute all inflated like this."
I said in a very high pitch voice "Oh its ok I all wonder what it felt like to be a balloon and now I I said jokely "Oh do you really so think? oh thanks but I just wondering how are I going to get out like this?. "
My friend look at me with smile and said "Oh Frya you just have wait you have deflated enough you can get out of the door." She said as she climp on to my huge belly and yes you do not joke. "
A hour later I had deflate enough to go but my belly was still big and round like I was pregnant but i was not bothered.
Before I left I said rubbing my belly " what you going to do with the video of my inflation".
"Oh Fyra I will keep and if you like I send you it. Oh I promised not posted any were with out your promison" "Oh good well see you later Tira ."
I said as I walk out of the door. "Bye my balloon friend" she said jokely as she shut the door.
I get home and I noticed that my belly was round like I was pregnant.
I just smile and rub my belly and said " Oh so glad I fell on the helium tank and so glad I have my special ability to inflate like a balloon and my belly stays like this for as long as I want. "
I smile and layed on my bed. I hug my belly and fell a sleep.
The end.
I am planning on wiring more stories and I am planning on going some photoshots soon.
I am sorry for not being active for a while.
My table I use to upload stuff to tumbler has stoped working so I have to use my Amazon table that is not very good.

Pirates of Pugmire, from which you see the awesome beach duel by artist Pat McEvoy above, launched last week and is over half-way to its funding goal!
Thanks to everybody who has backed so far, and please check it out and spread the word! Pirates of Pugmire is a sourcebook that expands on the entirety of the Realms of Pugmire, and contains new rules and info on piracy on the Acid Sea and the port city of Waterdog Keep, new callings for dogs and cats, new player character types with the birds and lizards, gunpowder weapon rules (originally imported from other lands where the lizard-folk trade), and contains new and connected adventures.
It really has just a ton of new stuff for all of the Realms of Pugmire, but a lot of times folks will hold off on backing supplements – which we know from long experience – but this time it’s so much more than just that.
Plus, we’d really like to get this traditionally printed and in stores like Pugmire and Monarchies of Mau, but we can’t OK that unless we get over the funding goal (and into all the cool Stretch Goals). So, give it a looksee, me hearties! Don’t be scurvy dogs! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/200664283/pirates-of-pugmire-a-realms-of-pugmire-tabletop-rpg
Trinity Continuum: Aeon art by Gregor Pedrycz
Most of our talk in today’s meeting was setting everything up for our trip out to UK Games Expo. Mighty Matt and I are headed out in order to get there Wednesday, and Eddy will meet up with us and Matthew on Thursday to set up the booth and welcome Steffie de Vaan, John Burke, Chris Allen, and Klara Herbol, as they all roll in throughout the day.
Then, it is demos and chatting to folks in the booth – and directing those interested in purchasing our stuff to our friends at the Leisure Games booth. Matthew and I were enthusing about recreating entire scenes from Miller’s Crossing, in character and voices, or maybe doing Dueling Walkens if we get left alone at the booth – so watch out.
Like I said a couple of weeks ago, we’re experimenting with different booth/demo/sales arrangements depending on the con, and we’re starting with this one.
If you missed it before, here’s the UKGE hall map:
We also finalized the prizes for the Contagion Chronicle “tournament” our creators are running that culminates in a final round for all the declared winners of the previous Chronicles of Darkness games. Really looking forward to seeing how this event plays out!
Also really looking forward to Curry Take-Away if we can get it, but that’s just my personal thing I’m fascinated by. We do not have it around these parts.
Shunned By The Moon art by Leo Albiero
Since I’ll be gone still next week, our own Dynamic Dixie Cochran will be guest-writing this blog! So please make her feel welcome. Other than the updates, I have no idea what she’ll choose to write about, but I’m sure you’re all in good hands.
I hope.
Speaking of Dixie – thanks to all of you who left questions for her interview with me for the Onyx Pathcast. Some guy named Eddy Webb was there too, and they posted it last Friday. The link’s below in the Onyx Path Media section of the MMN, and I had a great time chatting with the Trio (minus Matthew).
Both of them (but mostly Dixie) were great at keeping me on point as I do love to ramble on, and their questions tended to deal with the olden days – although we got into the future of our projects and the Pathcast itself, so it wasn’t all lookin’ back stuff.
The other big category of questions, and I get these all the time, were of the “What is your favorite X” kind. Where most of the Xs are Clan, or Book, or Game Line, sort of subjects. Which are so hard for me to honestly answer since I really do have a lot of favorites in those categories for different reasons. But it’s also really rough to say that I love X as your bashful publisher.
If I name one thing, the folks who love all the others may think I’m not necessarily going to push anything but the one I said was my favorite. Or the creators of the others now think I think they didn’t do a good job. That’s not really something it’s worth risking.
If only people asked non-work related questions like Favorite Color (purple), or Favorite Inker of Gene Colan’s Comic Book Pencils (Tom Palmer). Favorite Novel Set On A Desert Planet, even (Dune). Those I can answer!
One question I have received a fair bit these last couple of months that we didn’t cover, and that I now can answer, is when is Scion going on sale to non-KS backers? Well, we’ll be putting the PDF and PoD versions up for sale next Wednesday, June 5th on DTRPG to match when retailers should have the traditionally printed books to sell.
Trinity Continuum: Aeon art by Gunship Revolution
Finally, I’m told that the D&D sale at DTRPG is featuring our Scarred Lands books until the end of the month with super discounts. Which is cool, because our 5e Scarred Lands plans are really heating up! Here’s a link: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/featured.php?promotion_id=2019SlarecianMay
I’ll be finalizing plans for the new 5e Creature Collection with Jon Hodgson, who is handling the creation of the book and running the Kickstarter, at UKGE, and we’ll be announcing a new developer for the line and the projects they are overseeing once we get back. Plus, on the Scarred Lands Community Content site, the Slarecian Vault, the beginning of July marks the start of a phenomenal linked adventure series you will not want to miss!
Just to give you one more teaser before I leave the country, the beginning of July will also mean the start of something folks here also ask me about all the time, but before then – on June 13th even – we’ll be starting a little treat for everyone that leads into the July event. Keep your eyes peeled, and tally-ho, old chap, right into our
Many Worlds, One Path!
BLURBS!
KICKSTARTER:
Our Pirates of Pugmire Kickstarter is more than half-way funded, so swing over to our ship and check it out you sea-dogs!

Some highlights include: * Two new species for players to enjoy: lizards and birds * Six new callings, including two for dogs and two for cats * Rules for building, sailing, and sinking ships * A trove of new allies, enemies, and treasures * Information on Waterdog Port and Port Matthew * “Going on the Account,” a chronicle of three new adventures, taking characters from 1st through 6th level

Introduction: Teddy Bear Cannibal Massacre
Ok. So since I'm already doing Cheever and The Book of Job, this might seem like a bit too much. But I'm down to four clients and my work is finished until Thursday and while I have other things to do (edit the next Dybbuk Press book, work on this short story, upload a document for my SNAP paperwork, etc.), today I feel like going to bed early so I can wake up early and see if I can get tickets to The Music Man because a friend wants to see it.
So I'm going to put that stuff on hold and go with one more thing for these laconic January weeks and start reading and reviewing the first book I ever published.
I am planning on doing a Substack series on publishing books as an independent press (or small press or micro press) including some of the pitfalls and the personality clashes that can be avoided. They really can.
So a few things
Unlike the Stories of John Cheever, I won't review a story with "What the Fuck is this shit?" because I paid for these stories. I accepted these stories. I did a lot of editing on these stories. I know the authors. I like the authors. For the most part. I don't want the authors to find out that some editor that bought a story from them almost 20 years ago (yikes) is talking shit about them now.
There was a lot of drama in the making of this book. I was relatively young. I was immature. I didn't know what I was doing. There was miscommunication (including thinking that I was partnering with a friend who had a publishing company to do a project with him and he thinking that I was using his publishing company for my stuff on the stipulation that I stick his girlfriend's vampire story in the thing. Yeah that's the only one. You can find more tales of that drama when I finally start Substack and you can find the rough drafts when I was still angry at everyone at https://marlowe1.dreamwidth.org/ but you'd have to go back a long time and I'm not helping you find it.
I'm reviewing every book I read this year at https://marlowe1.dreamwidth.org/ because yeah, I can't quit the livejournal world even as livejournal was invaded by Putin's ego long before he invaded Ukraine and the U.S. elections.
Beyond that, the book is short. I should have it finished by the end of the month. Hell, by the end of the month I might have the Stories of John Cheever finished and I'll be off to Les Miserables which was the original notion I had for this thing.
Finally, there are a lot of Amazon reviews saying that this is a piece of shit. Some legitimately hate the book while others are written by people who just don't like me. I don't really have an opinion on them, beyond meh. This isn't the first book that I would offer up if I wanted to show people that I was an editor. It's not the one that was a passion project. It was the one that I wanted to publish so I could stick a story that I wrote in it because I was frustrated about no one buying my stories.
I suppose I could talk about my failed story. I never did sell that thing.

The Project
since ao3 is being a bitch and not letting me upload, i am uploading on here. i thought up this fic last night and just wrote chapter 1 and i’m fairly happy with it so here you go! the basic premise is that evie has a school project and bernie is the best person to lend a hand but she’s emotionally constipated and evie is gonna help her open up a bit. serena is a proud gf.
Chapter 1: Initiation
hi for citizenship we’re doing a project on wars and stuff. can you ask bernie if it’s ok if you give me her number so i can text her about it? i know it’s probably like really horrible for her to think about but can you please ask. it’s ok if she says no <3 x
Serena smiles to herself for a moment, before looking across her desk at Bernie, who’s frowning at whatever’s on her computer screen, her head slightly tilted in thought.
“Bernie,” Serena says gently. Bernie blinks and turns to her. “Evie’s wondering if you could help her with a school project about ‘wars and stuff’.” She raises a hand to make air quotes.
“Sure,” Bernie shrugs. Her hand curls around her mug of tea - it must be cold now, but she takes a sip anyway.
“It won’t be...” Serena trails off, not knowing how to ask it. At Bernie’s frown, she slides her phone across the desk and lets Bernie read the message. She sees the realisation followed by a sharp shake of the head, thinks about how Bernie’s hair would wave all over the place were it not tied up.
“It’s fine,” Bernie says. “Honestly.” Serena’s heart warms as she watches Bernie fiddle with both Serena’s phone and her own, obviously saving Evie’s number, before handing Serena’s back.
“Tell her I’ll text her this evening.” Serena nods and Bernie goes back to owork as she types out a reply.
She’ll text you after work, sweetheart x
Serena takes a swig of coffee and is just about to head back onto the ward when a reply comes through.
Thank you so much! x
“Might have a new member of your fanclub,” she laughs as she gets up.
Bernie just snorts.
xxxxx
When Bernie’s phone goes off for the third time during dinner, Serena breaks.
“Oh, for heaven's sake, just call her!” she laughs. Bernie looks at her like she’s grown another head. “Or, better still, invite her round after school tomorrow. You finish at 2, don’t you?”
Immediately, Serena spots Bernie’s ‘that’s a terrifying concept’ reaction - wide eyes, nostrils flared and slight downturn of her lips - and immediately reaches out to catch her hand where it rests on the table.
“Ok. Ok, Friday. We both have Friday off.” Bernie visibly relaxes and Serena strokes her thumb across Bernie’s fingers. Once Bernie starts eating again, Serena relaxes, too.
“She knows you’re not the best at conversation, darling,” she states. “She just wants you to answer her questions if you can.”
“I know,” Bernie whispers. “I’d just feel more comfortable if you were here.”
Serena nods and goes back to her food. Bernie’s phone vibrates again.
xxxxx
With Radio 3 on in the background, Serena empties the washing machine and grabs the radio on the way out the back door to go and hang up the damp clothes. The September sun is warm, even this late in the afternoon.
Evie had arrived straight from school with her heavy bag and an enthusiastic grin. When she produced a notepad and pen, Bernie had shot Serena an anxious smile, which Serena countered with an encouraging squeeze of her hand and a quick peck on the lips, before leaving them to it.
They’ve been deep in conversation for over an hour now and Serena’s nearly run out of things to do. She’s even started browsing on Amazon for ideas for Bernie’s Christmas present. It seems absurd to be thinking about Christmas well before she’s even had her birthday, but she’s nothing if not organised.
She goes back indoors and hears that laugh. That ridiculous laugh. Evie’s laugh, too. She almost laughs herself at the sheer joy of the realisation that they’re getting on, that Bernie isn’t too overwhelmed, and can’t help but go and join them.
“What’s all the noise about?”
Bernie and Evie both jump at her voice and it must jolt them out of their hysteria because they both sigh and Evie wipes at her eyes.
“Bernie was telling me about when Lee fell asleep at like 9 and,” Serena giggles. She’s heard this story. “They managed to get him and his bed-”
“Out into the corridor without waking him up,” Serena finishes, and Evie cracks up again. Serena looks to Bernie and finds her looking wistful. She obviously hasn’t told Evie that Lee was killed only three weeks into his tour.
Evie gets up and goes to the toilet and Serena wonders if she sensed the shift in atmosphere.
Serena goes to sit next to Bernie and takes her hand, their fingers interlinking.
“You ok?” she asks.
Bernie nods, but her watery eyes say something different and Serena knows they’ll talk about it later, in bed. It’s where Bernie’s most open about her past and her emotions and, well, everything.
They lean back into the sofa and sit in silence until Evie returns. The girl plonks herself down next to Serena and snuggles up next to her when she’s invited to. Serena revels in the moment and presses a kiss to Evie’s hair, before sitting up and squeezing Bernie and Evie’s knees, one with each hand.
“Right, who’s up for pizza?”
Evie growls out a ‘YESSS’ as Serena pushes herself up off the sofa and heads for the kitchen.
“Only if we get pineapple,” Evie says, and Serena turns just in time to see a conspiratorial glance thrown at Bernie. She can feel the indignance on her own face as Bernie shrugs.
“Sounds like your pizza preferences are hot gossip!”
“Uncle Raf mentioned it to Dad once.” Evie grins at Serena, then at Bernie. “I knew you were an awesome person even before I’d met you.”
Bernie’s face flushes a little and Serena winks at her, then goes to find the Domino’s leaflet.
xxxxx
They end up with a Hawaiian and one with lots of meat on that Serena’s never heard of before. The whole two pizzas are devoured, along with garlic bread, and Evie insists on helping Bernie to stack the dishwasher while Serena makes them all a cuppa.
She finds herself glancing at Bernie, tells herself to stop worrying and take a step back.
Once they’ve drunk their teas, Evie gets her things together and goes into the hall to put on her blazer.
Serena starts to follow her, but Bernie puts a hand on her thigh and she looks back questioningly.
“Can I-” Bernie squeezes her hands together. “I’ll go,” she manages. Serena nods, a curious look on her face.
Evie reappears with her bag slung over her shoulder. “Ready.” Serena stands up to hug her while Bernie fetches her car keys and slides her feet into a pair of boots.
“Bernie’s offered to drive you home,” Serena says, curling errant hairs behind Evie’s ear.
“Ah, thanks.” Evie turns to Bernie. “I was gonna get the bus, but that would be cool.”
“No problem,” Bernie mutters.
Serena waves them off, then goes and snuggles up on the sofa, waiting for Bernie to come home.

[Click here to submit a post for points if it is not reflected on the leaderboard after 48 hours.]
Welcome to the Phantom Fair! This event is going to be quite a fantastic journey and will hopefully bring our community even closer together. The Phantom Fair Tournament is based off of the Tumblr Platform and will require a Tumblr account to take part. They are quick and free to make, and you will find a fantastic spirit companionship community there.
The Phantom Fair is based off of three teams. You can choose which team you'd like to be on, and do item #1 on the task list at the end of this section to officially begin taking part. We will have a roster with names, teams, and points that will be updated periodically. If you have checked back twice in 48 hours and not seen something you did posted on the roster, but you completed it and followed the rules, please send us an email with the subject line "Phantom Fair Points."
Here's a little about the fabulous teams taking part in this year's Phantom Fair.
These fabulous teams are based off of three amazing animals -- the Deer, the Raven, and the Ox. These three teams represent some fabulous quality that people in our community have. If you feel you identify with one over the others, you have just found your team!
How does the competition work?
The competition is composed of a number of people on different teams. Every post you make and activity you complete will gain you and your team points. The team with the most points at the end of the period will receive a very special prize explained below, and the person with the most points will get a special prize as well.
You simply perform a task, post it publicly on tumblr, add your hashtags as described below, and tag @magickalmenagerie so that we spot it. If you have not seen it uploaded on the leaderboard here within 48 hours of completion, please email us with the tagline Phantom Fair Points.
There will be certain spotlight events that will award large sums to teams or individuals based on the structure of the event. We will announce these in advance.
Remember, you aren't required to do everything, so if there is something that you are uncomfortable doing or are unable to do, you can still compete!
The Easy Challenges are meant to get you connected with your community, connected to good vibrations, and thinking about yourself, your life, and your network. They should be easy tasks that take no more than 5 minutes. Don't overthink it!
Note that 3 and 4 are the only ones on this list that won’t require a post of some sort.
Choose which team you wish to be a part of, and make a post about why you wished to choose that team or why you think it is fitting for you.
Find yourself a Fair Buddy. This can be someone you know already, or you can make friends by reaching out and asking someone (you can use the tag #phantomfairfriend). Your post seeking a fair buddy or a re-blog of the fair advertisement with your friend’s name tagged will complete this challenge.
Change your ID tag to your team tag (click for link).
Follow @magickalmenagerie and write “followed” in the comments on the original advertisement.

The Expert Challenges are meant to help you communicate with your companions better, experience other planes, and strengthen your astral skills, as well as peering into yourself more deeply. These may require a bit more time and patience, so set aside time for them, and don't be upset if you cannot complete them in one sitting. You can still write about your experience even if you feel it is 'incomplete.'

Gossips and Comic Con in the entertainment industry in Trending entertainment news
The entertainment industry is full of controversy and there are many things as an audience that we don’t recognize, but if you dig deeper you’ll find that not everything is as glamorous as you might think. There are many stories behind the scenes that we are not aware of. According to popular entertainment news, actress Ashley Benson has been seen shopping in Los Angeles with her beau rapper G Easy. They were spotted with shopping bags on their way to the car.
Trending entertainment news reported that both were spotted at the Le Labo perfume store in Los Angeles. Rumors of their dates had been circulating since May after the actress broke up with long-time girlfriend Cara Delevingne. Ashley was very ambitious as a child and began her career dancing and studying. She also danced to jazz, ballet and hip hop. She performed solo at the age of 4 and signed with Ford Models when she was just 8 years old. Some facts about Pretty Little Liars.
Fun facts about Pretty Little Liars
Previously, Ashley Tisdale was supposed to play a role on Pretty Little Liars but turned it down because she was taken to another show called Hellcats, which was later canceled after one season, which can be found in ok celebrity news magazines online.
Some of the sets that were used on the show were also used on Gilmore Girls. The cult song of the series Secret was in fact a recommendation from Ashley Benson herself, who is also a singer by profession. The author of the original Pretty Little Liars also appeared on the show in season 1. Her name is Sara Shepard. Ashley Benson, who played the role of Hanna, also looked in the movie 13, which was 30, as one of the mean girls. Suit star Patrick J Adams is married to Troian Bellasario and has also appeared in an episode of the show. The actor later revealed that they were experiencing a breakup and he came to the show to get her back.
What’s happening this year in Comic-con.
Tens of thousands of people will not be coming to San Diego this summer for Comic-Con’s annual international gathering from best arts and entertainment articles, but the festival is still going on as a virtual event with a program that includes some great hits. It’s a good year for streamers. For the first virtual conference at San Diego Comic-Con, this means the panels will be broadcast online for everyone to watch. The obvious pro in this scenario: viewing the panels is not limited to people with Comic-Con passes that are ready to wait for hours in the sun to get to Hall H.
Each chain and studio offers its biggest titles, including the three Star Trek titles, His Dark Materials and Lovecraft Country from HBO, Archer and What We Do and Upload from Amazon. Other studios are likely to join but have yet to announce their plans. It is less clear whether the two biggest San Diego Comic-Con participants will be attending this year: Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. The deadline announced Wednesday that Marvel Studios will be “on the sidelines this year,” although some Marvel productions will be released.
Disney Plus will be present at the convention, the company announced. Marvel 616, a documentary series that “explores the rich legacy of Marvel’s stories, characters and creators in the” world outside the window, “according to Disney, will have a dedicated panel. Based on Deadline reports and Disney Plus’s own panel list, don’t expect anything from Loki, Wanda Vision, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

How to Design and Publish ebook-1
HOW TO EARN MONEY BY WRITING A BOOK
Although there are many ways to earn money by writing, this needs expertise and there can be many platforms for them, but for a common user, is there any option in this field? Of course… If you write articles that target a specific field like if you write something related to health as a doctor, write something on education as a teacher that can help students, or you possess any technical talent and write something on a particular area related to technology or are an economic expert that writes business-related articles… or you are a poet and write poetry, a satirist and write satire, then you can publish it as a book so that not only people with interest in your area of expertise can be benefitted of this but you can earn money also.
Getting a book published is a very expensive process and even difficult to sell, as it will be difficult to get the cost back which will be spent on it. No publication will publish a book without taking any money, so a better option in this regard is to make the book an ebook and publish it without spending any money. There will be three steps in this whole process… First, design the book and the cover professionally. Second, upload the book on three to four platforms like Amazon Kindle, Google Play Book, Smashwords and Instamojo, etc. And the third is to promote the book and there are many ways for this.
In this article, you will get complete information about all the processes.
How Homo sapiens won the battle of survival?
An advantage with Smashwords is that the book uploaded here also auto uploads on world level platforms of Smashwords’ partners like Apple, Kobo, Barnes & Noble and Sony. Apart from this, you can also upload on Google Play.
The story of those people from another world, who were associated with us
HOW TO DESIGN AN EBOOK
In simple words, an ebook is the PDF format of a text file and when you convert it to a PDF, it usually takes the form automatically in which you save it as a Word file but there are things that require special attention. Simple Word files may open differently on different systems while PDFs remain the same on all systems.
The thing to note here is that you will have to design the file professionally in word format only because the three-four platforms on which you will upload your ebook will only support PDF on Instamojo and Google Play, whereas on Kindle, word file has to be uploaded which the Kindle converts itself and if its format is not correct, then after uploading it will not be displayed properly.
Where did religion come from and how logical from the point of view of science?
And apart from these three, both these formats of the file will not be uploaded on Smashwords or even if it supports the word file, it will not find a place in the premium catalogue (that includes partner platforms like Apple, Sony, Kobo). Here, you have to upload the EPUB file designed on the Calibre so that it can be read uniformly on all platforms. So let’s first talk about converting a text file into an ebook.
WHAT SHOULD BE THE FORMAT OF AN EBOOK
Irrespective of the page size, when converted to PDF, EPUB or Kindle format, it automatically adjusts according to the screen, but it is better to set the size that most readers read, that is according to a smartphone screen so that you can have an idea of what and how your file will appear.
Can religion and logic walk together
For that, whatever page size is set in the file, go to the function tab of the “layout” of the file, click on customs margin and in the pop-up that opens here, choose the margins as top 1.27 cm, bottom, left and right 0.51 cm to all the content. Keep the orientation portrait. Keep the width 8.89 cm and height 15.24 cm in the “paper” size. There is no need to tick the section start> new page, odd-even or different first page in “layout”. Keep both headers, footer to 0.25 cm and select OK after clicking “apply to whole document” at the bottom.
Now your file will be designed according to a smartphone which will fit as per the requirement of the tablet or desktop/laptop screen on any system further. Now in this file, you need to turn on the paragraph marker, so that you can see unnecessary spacing, line gap or page break and section.
On the first page, name of the book and the author, on the second-page little information related to the book, on the third page, dedication if any, fourth is of preface, the content summary in the fifth and your book starts from the sixth page. Here this count does not just mean the page, but you have to go to “layout” and break the section from “break” function to “next page” here. This is the most important thing for an ebook or else the content will be jumbled.
Every new page you want to keep as a separate one is not meant to be created with the enter button, nor by page break with control+enter, but only by breaking the section with “next page”. Apart from this, there are few things to keep in mind, that any heading you wish to keep in the centre is to be kept from the paragraph section of “home” and not by moving it with the space bar. The content has to be justified from here. Select all the matter, go to the line spacing in the spacing tab, keep at least 15 pt for Hindi and 13 pt for English content. Rest of the font can be selected 9 pt for Hindi and 10 pt for English.
Here two points are important… First, there are no limitations like the paperback version, you can also attach multiple colour/black and white photos and videos with text to the file to make the entire book attractive and second that the ebook has two more things to add, which are optional on platforms other than Smashwords, but compulsory on the EPUB. The first is about the author and the second is about the other books or material written by the author.
A bookmarked summary is the most important part in the ebook formatting because it is not a physical book that if you had read eighty-two pages in a book of one hundred and twenty pages, then you can mark that page and when you start reading again, you start from there. In the ebook, you have to take special care that your content is divided into small sections and every section has a heading that you can bookmark and link later so that the reader can touch the specific heading from the summary and go to the desired section or the page directly.
what possibilities are there in the universe outside our planet
HOW TO BOOKMARK AND LINK EVERY SECTION IN THE FILE
For this, you have to select the heading of each section, starting from the first section. Click on the “insert” function tab and go to the option “bookmark” and write the initial letter or the heading itself without spacing and add it.
Now select the same heading that you would have written in the summary one by one (you don’t need to write page numbers next to them like paperbacks here), and go to the “link” option of “insert” and in the option of Link to: place in this documents, select the same bookmarked heading to “OK”. In this way, the entire summary will be linked, and the reader can touch the desired heading to reach the desired part directly.
Now come to the finishing touch of the ebook which is your cover page. Cover of the paperback is a difficult thing, in which many things have to be kept that only an expert can take care of but the ebook has only the front cover that even a common user can make according to their subject with Photoshop or Coral or can create with the help of tools of any self-publishing platforms such as Canva, Pothi, Notion, CreateSpace, etc. Or if it seems difficult to do it yourself then you can get it done by a freelancer in five dollars with the help of Fiverr.
So now your ebook is ready to be published. Now save it as a simple word file and save a copy as PDF as well which is to be uploaded in Instamojo and Google Play.
If God is there then how can it be from the point of view of science
Stories related to Indian society and culture that will shake you and make you think
How to publish an ebook on Instamojo
First of all, go to Google Play and complete the sign-up process. It will take time to get approval. After this, sign up on Instamojo as per the pictures given. Please note that you have to create an account in the individual category everywhere and give your exact details, including bank account and PAN card. If you are going to cross the limit of ten thousand on Instamojo, then only KYC is mandatory otherwise it is not required.
If you wish, you can give a professional look to your profile by putting a profile DP and cover photo here. From here go to add product. In the product type, select digital, then upload your PDF file, fill the title and subtitle. Enter HSN code, ignore it if you do not know. Fill the price, write about your book in detail in the product description below. Select from the category option below about the subject of your book and fill the words in the tag below that match with your book.
At the moment there is no need to do anything in advance settings according to your product, but in the SEO option below, fill the title, short description and keywords keeping in mind the Google search. Keywords are very useful in terms of optimization, that can rank your book in Google search. Then click on “add a product to store”… Now your book has been published on Instamojo.

After getting the approval mail, come to Google Play, click on get started and complete the process of sign up. Keep “self-published writer” in the publisher type. Give a name in the publisher name, or write your own name, write India in country field, fill in your contact number prefixing code for India below and select OK. When you will proceed after agreeing to the terms and conditions on the next page you will directly reach the home page from here.
Here, from the option given in the left side, you have to click on the book catalogue and go to the option “add book” from the next page. On the next page, select “sell book on Google Play” in the sell option and “get a Google Book ID” in the book ID option and proceed after save continue.
The title and description of the book are to be filled in the next section. Select the language Hindi, write whatever name you want as publisher, enter recent publication date, fill the number of the pages, fill the format as an ebook, ignore the series name and number, make the minimum edge as 15, maximum as 18. Keep “no” on the audiences, escape the related book option then save and continue.
The next is the category section. You can write and search for the desired category, leave BISAC in the genre then save and proceed. Give the details of the contributor if any on the next page or save it and proceed. Apply DRM “yes” in the setting, select the preview to 20%, copy-paste limit to 0 and save.
what is CAA-NRC and Why there is chaos about CAA/NRC
After this, the file upload page will open where you will get a new pop-up as soon as you upload, in which upload both the cover and the PDF file. After this, the page for the book price will open. Here you have to note that if you want this book to be purchased only in India, then select India and write a price accordingly or if you wish to sell it worldwide then fill the price which is applicable globally, however, it is a bit tricky step because books are sold at different price in different countries that have a big variation. However, if you save it, after taking some time, this book will be published on Google Books or Play Store.

Inside the Amazon company that's even bigger than Amazon.com
yahoo
Everybody knows what “the cloud” is, right? It’s, like, internet storage or something? Sure. Yeah.
I wanted to go a little deeper. I wanted to know exactly what it is, where it is, who owns it, who runs it, and how it works. So I did a little travel, conducted some interviews—and last Sunday, “CBS Sunday Morning” aired my story. You can watch it here.
The “who runs it” part has a particularly interesting answer. In large part, the answer to that is, “Amazon” (AMZN).
Over the last decade, Amazon has quietly built up the world’s largest cloud-services company, called AWS (Amazon Web Services). In terms of income and profit, it’s much bigger than Amazon.com (the division that sells stuff by mail-order).
It’s also much bigger than its rivals, which include Microsoft (MSFT), IBM (IBM), and Google (GOOG, GOOGL); in fact, AWS says that it’s bigger than its next 14 competitors combined.
Most companies don’t like to reveal what cloud-services company they use, but here are a few companies that don’t mind saying that they run on AWS: Hulu, Netflix, Comcast, Spotify, Pinterest, Yelp, Airbnb, Slack, PBS, SmugMug, Hertz, Time, Intuit, Unilever, Zillow, Dow Jones, Morningstar, Under Armour, Kellogg’s, Expedia, Adobe, Philips, GE, Shell, AOL, BMW, Canon, Capital One, IMDb, Johnson & Johnson, Lamborghini, Lyft, McDonald’s, NASA, Novartis, Pfizer, Philips, Samsung, SAP, Sony, SoundCloud, Ticketmaster, and the US Department of State.
For the TV story, I had the rare opportunity to interview an Amazon executive: Dr. Matt Wood. His current title is general manager for artificial intelligence AWS, but he’s been part of AWS from the beginning. (I asked him if the “Dr.” meant medical doctor or PhD doctor. In Wood’s case, both. He started his career as a medical doctor.)
As always happens, though, the time constraints of TV meant that not all of the good stuff from our interview made it into the broadcast. So here, for your reading pleasure, is a more complete edited transcript of my interview with Dr. Wood.
Dr. Matt Wood (right) joined me for a “CBS Sunday Morning” interview at Amazon’s Seattle headquarters.
POGUE: Because AWS caters to businesses, not ordinary consumers, most consumers haven’t heard of it. But it’s giant, right?
WOOD: It’s a relatively large business today. We’re a little over $16 billion in revenue run rate [projected income for 2017], and we’re growing at just over 40% a year.
POGUE: So who had the foresight, when AWS started, to say, “You know what could be really a good business for us…?”
WOOD: It actually came out of Amazon retail. The developers inside Amazon retail wanted to be able to move more quickly. They were frustrated about having to write big checks [to buy new server equipment] and wait and wait and wait [for them to be delivered], and do all this extra work to be able to try out their idea.
And so we started to come up with some ideas about how we could make that faster. And so we started to explore an entirely new business for us, selling these services to businesses in the same way as Amazon was consuming them.
POGUE: So all of these companies are hiring AWS to do what?
WOOD: They are able to pull down computational power as if it was a utility.
So let’s say you’re a brewery, right? They don’t want to manage computers. They want to brew beer. They don’t want to be going through the expense and the upfront cost and all the complexity of managing these large amounts of computers.
POGUE: So it sounds like cloud companies like AWS are basically renting computers, storage, power, security—all the stuff that technicians would have normally had to do on site, right?
WOOD: That’s right, yes.
AWS is relatively unknown to consumers—but it’s by far the largest piece of Amazon.
POGUE: Are you also saying there was a time before cloud companies when people did all this stuff in house?
WOOD: Yeah. People often talk about the “heavy lifting” of building web applications or mobile applications. Well, back when I was doing my Ph.D., we were given the task—a group of Ph.D. students—to move a mainframe computer from one room to another.
This thing weighed — it must have been several tons. It took about eight wimpy nerds to try to lift it. We dropped it, and it got stuck in the doorway. (LAUGH) We had to get the university football team to come in and help us move it out of the way before our professors came back and found us!
POGUE: (Laugh) Literal heavy lifting!
WOOD: So it’s not like that today. All I need is an AWS account and a credit card, and I can start trying out new ideas, for pennies.
And larger organizations find the same benefits. And so today, very large organizations such as, you know, GE, Shell, Phillips, Netflix, all run on top of AWS.
POGUE: Really? Netflix?
WOOD: Yes.
POGUE: Wait. Amazon has a very similar business—Amazon Prime Video. Why would Netflix hire its arch-rival to store and serve up its movies?
WOOD: Well, that’s a good question. It’s one that Netflix asked us very early on. (LAUGH) From the very first day of AWS, we set up the company as a separate business. We have a separate management chain; we are situated in a separate building.
We even wanted companies that could potentially compete with Amazon.com—our cousins at retail—to be able to use the same platform. And so to AWS, Amazon.com is just another customer.
POGUE: Is there a downside to the cloud idea? Is there any reason that somebody might shy away from structuring their data this way?
WOOD: The only reason I can really think of is that some companies have already made those very, very large investments in their own data centers. They’ve signed the checks, they’ve done the waiting, they’ve racked and stacked their service. And so they’ve already made that investment.
POGUE: So suppose I’m one of these companies who’s got an existing computer setup, and I want to move to AWS…
WOOD: Yeah. There’s a couple of ways that you can do that. You can just upload it as normal. But sometimes you have so much data [that it would take forever to transmit electronically]. So we built this device–the Snowball.
(He shows me a suitcase-size, gray, plastic-enclosed case.)
The AWS Snowball can be a faster, cheaper way to send a company’s data to Amazon than uploading it.
POGUE: Snowball, you call it?
WOOD: It’s 100 terabytes of storage. And you just connect this up to your data center, load your data on. And then you just physically ship it back to us, and then we load it into the cloud from our data center.
POGUE: Ship it, like through FedEx or UPS or something—
WOOD: Exactly. You should never underestimate the bandwidth of a FedEx truck. (LAUGH) In fact, right on the front here, you can see that we have an e-ink display—basically, a Kindle—which shows the customer’s address when we ship it out to them. And then as soon as they arrive and plug it in, [the address on that screen changes to show] our data center collection location, and you just ship it back to us.
POGUE: Oh, this—this is a screen, this is not paper—
WOOD: Exactly, yes. Because we didn’t want the shipping labels to come off in transit.
POGUE: So essentially, this is like a giant shippable hard drive. Can you track it?
WOOD: Yeah; it has 3G, Wifi, and also a GPS system.
POGUE: But hard drives are delicate. What if the shipper guy drops it?
WOOD: We built them to be robust and ruggedized. We actually built them to military specifications. We put them on a boat in the middle of a lake and then exploded depth charges around the boat and then made sure they could still work.
POGUE: Can it handle a drop to concrete?
WOOD: Easily, no worries.
POGUE: Like this? (I shoved the Snowball off the table onto the concrete floor, where it just bounced and then lay flat) It’s okay, folks! It doesn’t have a scratch on it. I don’t know about the floor, though.
WOOD: (LAUGHS)
How AWS handles security
POGUE: OK, we gotta talk about security. I imagine you have a huge staff of experts?
WOOD: Yeah. I mean, security really is job zero for us. We take it extremely seriously. It’s the first thing that we think about when we get up in the morning, it’s the last thing we think about when we go to bed.
POGUE: Because “the cloud” actually resides in data centers—huge, unmarked buildings running thousands of servers. And one AWS data center may house the livelihoods of a bunch of companies, all concentrated in one building.
WOOD: Actually, we don’t even store all of the data in one place. We don’t have a single data center. We use groups of data centers. And those groups of data centers are separated by large distances. They’re on separate floodplains and fault lines. We move data automatically between the data centers in those groups. And that means the data is always backed up, not just inside a data center or between data centers, but between groups of data centers in different physical locations.
POGUE: So I don’t mean to give anyone ideas, but let’s say I figured out that one of these unmarked buildings was an AWS data center, and I blew it up. Are you saying that it’s so backed up and redundant that you probably wouldn’t notice?
WOOD: Yeah, you wouldn’t notice. I mean, we might be a bit upset, but you wouldn’t notice.
POGUE: That leads into my other question, which is that 70% of the cloud, 70% of the world’s internet traffic, flows through data centers in Loudoun County, Virginia. Should we be worried about that concentration?
70 percent of the world’s Internet data flows through the massive data centers in Loudon County, Virginia. (CBS News)
WOOD: No, that data is backed up across multiple different physical locations. And we do that to limit the blast radius. If something does happen, or we have a power event, or there’s a flood in one specific location, that data is held redundantly in other locations, as well. So the cloud just keeps running.
POGUE: How is each physical AWS data center protected?
WOOD: The first thing is that we control personnel extremely tightly. So although I’ve been at Amazon nearly 10 years, I’ve never visited one of our data centers. I’ve never stepped foot inside them. I don’t even know their addresses.
POGUE: Because you’re not allowed to?
WOOD: Because I’m not allowed to, yeah. I don’t have any reason to be there. And a data center’s primary vector of insecurity is physical attacks. So you don’t want people there that don’t need to be there.
Beyond that, obviously we have all of the controls—the concrete, the guards, the bars—to prevent and mediate and evaluate physical access to the security. If you don’t need to be in there, you don’t get in.
POGUE: One of the data center managers told me that one reason we’ve never heard of terrorists attacking a data center is that they’re interested in terror—and that’s attacking people, not things. That a data center is just a bunch of machinery that’s easily repaired and replaced.
WOOD: Easily repaired, easily replaced, and can cause no disruption whatsoever.
POGUE: What about hacks? You know, Equifax, Sony, and other big companies being hacked. Does that have anything to do with the cloud and the way it’s structured?
WOOD: Only in that we provide developers the tools to prevent these sorts of attacks. So you can go in and very quickly protect all of your data. You can encrypt all of your data. And we even provide machine learning tools that evaluate the risk associated with your data.
So we can identify, with customers’ permission, a difference between a webpage, which is OK to deliver, or Social Security numbers and personally identifiable information. And then we continuously monitor for differences in how that data is accessed. And if we find an anomalous access, then we alert both automatic remediation and people, so they can go investigate.
POGUE: Then how do these hacks happen?
WOOD: In a variety of ways. The most common way is social engineering—trying to figure out someone’s password through nefarious processes. So calling up and saying that you are the telephone operator and you’re asking for their password, for example, and then the person just giving it to you. So it’s much more common for those sorts of attacks to be propagated.
POGUE: So the weak link turns out to be us.
WOOD: As it so often is.

Hello there! My name is Nitin Mistry and I would like to tell why I created the Ultimate eBook Creator (UEC)…
Back in February 2011, another very cold Canadian winter day, I was sitting watching TV with my wife and our two boys. My wife had just finished working on her first recipe book but she looked frustrated. I asked her what was bothering her.
She told me she just finished her recipe book in Microsoft Word format and she tried to publish on Amaozn KDP several times, but KDP kept rejecting her eBook, saying there were formatting errors she did not understand!
She told me that if she could earn some extra money selling her eBook then maybe she could take more time off to spend with the boys. She told me, she had tried many different software, both free and paid, but nothing seemed to work. Trying to publish on Amazon KDP was so near impossible!
Then she said “honey, you create software in your day job right? Then why can’t you create a simple ebook writer/creator that I can use to create and publish my ebook?” At that time I knew nothing about Amazon KDP or Kindle devices. The next day, I decided to do some quick research into creating ebooks and what was available on the market.
After a few days I decided to help my wife fulfill her dream (and to earn some brownie points – if you know what I mean 😉 ). That’s when my Ultimate eBook Creator was ‘born’ and the rest is history.
Fast forward to today
UEC has been an incredible success! UEC has helped over 3000 authors publish their eBooks on Amazon and other platforms! The sales from UEC have enabled my wife to quit her day job to be a full time mom to our two boys and a childrens book writer. She has published two recipe ebooks and over 40 children’s ebooks on Amazon KDP using UEC and earns a nice passive income.
How to Self-Publish your eBook Many people have a dream of being an author and wonder how to go about publishing an eBook and specifically how to self-publish on Kindle, Barnes & Noble, iBookStore, Smashword, Lulu. Well I have some really good news for you. All you will need is the Ultimate eBook Creator – which is probably one of the best eBook creation software on the market today. You can write your eBook from scratch using the built in professional WYSIWYG editor or, if you already have your content in a text file or word document, then you can literally import all your content into UEC, organize your content into chapters and sections and have your e-book published in less than 30 minutes (depending on how large the book is). UEC is probably the only e-book software you will ever need! It takes care of all the complex formatting and automatically generates your “Table of Contents”, so all your formatting headaches are gone! You can generate for Kindle (MOBI), Barnes and Noble, iBookStore, Smashwords, LULU.com (EPUB) or generate an MS Word document or even a PDF document!
Why Kindle eBook Formatting is not easy? Did you know that 95% of the people who manage to publish an eBook for the Kindle never sell a single copy. It’s not their content. Most of the time the author has probably spent hours, even days or weeks writing the eBook. So why do they fail! Well it’s the final step … Formatting the eBook! Formatting your eBook to satisfy the rules for Amazon KDP is not easy! All you have to do is Google search the phrase “Kindle formatting issues” and you’ll see what I mean. Poor formatting results in bad customer experience, and even worse, puts your book on Amazons poor quality radar and they will warn or even remove your eBooks from Amazon KDP! This is one of the main reasons why there are so many eBook formatting services online. Most charge a monthly fee of $27 or more. Just imagine paying $27 per month! That’s a lot of money! Not with UEC. Because with UEC you only pay a onetime fee and get lifetime of free updates! UEC is so easy to use! It takes care of all that complex formatting, so you can focus on the content which is what you like to do! The Ultimate eBook Creator takes care of all the complex XML, XHTML, HTML5, CSS and all other format related techie nerdy stuff that you can just don’t need to worry about!
How to Publish on Kindle UEC makes it super easy to publish on Amazon Kindle devices. It’s almost like painting by numbers! In fact the Ultimate eBook Creator comes with a step by step guide which shows you how to publish your UEC generated Kindle e-book (in .MOBI format) right into Kindle. In fact I gave my 16 year old son a project for summer. He wrote his eBook using the UEC eBook software in 2 days and had it uploaded into Kindle on the third day. Here’s the book if you are interested – NBA Trivia. He is making between $300-$500 per month on this book alone!
Get Your Book Accepted On Amazon KDP the First Time! Getting your eBooks accepted on Kindle, iBookStore, LuLu, Smashwords and Barnes & Noble is probably one of the most difficult tasks you will encounter. Don’t believe me? Just do a simple Google search on say “iBookStore formatting” and you will read tons of blogs and stories about people struggling with the iBookStore. Here’s the process. You upload your book using a service like lulu.com. Wait 3-4 weeks to get your eBook validated. If there is even one error, your eBook will be rejected! But here’s the kicker. They DO NOT tell you ALL the errors at once. Then you fix that one error and submit again. Wait another 3 weeks to see if your eBook got accepted. This goes on and on until you fix all the eBook errors… PAINFUL!! Not with UEC though. I have so many UEC customers who email me back and say “Hey Nitin, my eBook got accepted the first time! And I only had to wait 4 hours!”.
Publish to iBookstore, Smashwords and LULU the First Time! If you think publishing to Amazon is hard, wait till you try the other platforms! I have had so many customers tell me that UEC is probably the only software available that publishes to Apple’s iBookstore, Smashwords.com and LULU.com the first time. You see UEC compiles 100% perfectly validated EPUB files, so no need to spend money on services that do this for you.
Never worry about eBook Formatting again! Here’s the good news. Ultimate eBook Creator takes care of all the complexities of formatting your eBooks once and for all. This is because UEC creates your eBooks from the ground up and generates 100% clean and lean XHTML code – unlike Calibre that tries to convert a Microsoft Word document with all that junk formatting hidden characters that make your eBooks look like c***! I hope, you know what I’m trying to say! Even though your eBook formatting may seem to look ok XHTML code it creates is really bad and bloats your eBooks with junk code that increases the size of your eBook. Amazon KDP has a 50MB limit and other platforms have a maximum size limit too. Your eBook will be rejected if it exceeds the max size limit!
Creating Adult Coloring Books UEC has built in templates to help you create Adult Coloring Books. Once you have your designs ready, UEC has built in tools to automatically bulk insert all your images at once onto alternate pages and format them to be center aligned. Learn more…
Creating Interactive eBook is Easy! The latest eBooks that are selling like hotcakes are INTERACTIVE eBooks! With the Ultimate eBook Creator, you can now easily create Interactive eBooks. Quiz books, children’s books, puzzle books. The list goes on and on.
Do You Really Want to Read the Kindle Publishing Guide? Without UEC, you would need to read and understand the 100s of pages of documentation to get it right. If you GET IT WRONG and your book can be rejected because it will fail the MOBI/EPUB validation!
If you get it wrong AND somehow manage to get through the Amazon’s evaluation process, people who buy your book will not only leave HORRIBLE reviews and ask for an immediate refund! Seriously the worst thing that can happen is getting a bad 1 star review. I would rather Amazon reject my book, than getting a 1 star bad review. The review will REALLY effect your sales. Trust me I’ve been there!
Adventure Path eBooks UEC can create simple Interactive eBooks. Here’s an example of a sports trivia interactive eBook that my son created on Amazon KDP – NBA Interactive Trivia.
.
Multiple Language User Interface UEC user interface supports the English and German languages. In the future French and Spanish will also be added. Remember I am not talking about the spell checker which supports more than 80 different languages!
Multi Language Spell Checker UEC has a multiple language spell check built in. So whether you write your book in French, German, Spanish, Italian and many more (around 80 other languages) – UEC’s got you covered!
MAC Users? Ultimate eBook Creator is a Microsoft Windows Desktop Application (Windows 10,8,7). However it will also run very well on a Mac computer provided, you have a PC emulation software installed – I recommend Parallels. In fact I have many customers who use a Mac and they tell me UEC runs perfectly on the MAC with this Parallels PC emulator.
UEC CD-ROM Now Selling on Amazon I am very excited to let you know that UEC is now selling on Amazon on a CD-ROM. Click Here to Purchase CD Version from Amazon.com.
After Sales Support I am very serious about serving my customers and I will always try and help as much as I can. I answer support questions usually within the hour or sooner. But of course even I need to sleep, and then I answer the next day. Here’s what my customers say about my support Click Here ….
60 Days Money Back Guarantee You have a 60 day 100% no quibble money back guarantee. If you are not happy with the UEC for any reason, just email me within 60 days and i will refund 100% of your money! After refund, the software will be deactivated and so will not work any longer.
FREE Lifetime Software Updates! Here’s another guarantee. You only pay a ONE TIME FEE – but you will get FREE lifetime of updates! This means all the new features I add to UEC such as embedded audio and video support will be free for all customers!
Over 3000 eBooks Created with UEC on Amazon KDP I am so excited and proud to tell you that collectively my customers have used Ultimate eBook Creator and published over 3000 eBooks on Amazon KDP and other platforms such as Barnes & Noble, iBookstore, Smashwords and more. Corrections & Clarifications: A previous version of this story referenced an unproven claim about smart devices recording voice data.
The scene plays out like a thriller: You pull out your phone, and you see an ad for AirPods.
Wait a minute, you think. Didn’t I just have a conversation about AirPods with my friend? Like, a real conversation, spoken aloud? Is my phone … listening to me?
Why, yes, it probably is. When you use your default settings, everything you say may be recorded through your device’s onboard microphone. While there’s been no concrete evidence, many Americans believe their phones routinely collect their voice data and use it for marketing purposes.
As a “prime” example, tap or click here to see what Amazon does with the voice data it harvests and how you can stop Alexa from listening.
Your phone isn’t the only device that’s watching and listening to you. The FBI warns hackers can take over your smart TV if you don’t secure it. Tap or click to learn how to take control of your privacy on your TV before it’s too late.

Do I really want to give? When a happy birthday wish on Facebook turns into a request for donations
Before you ask, yes, it’s perfectly legal, and developers claim not to abuse this practice. But that doesn’t mean you have to like it; many people are startled to see ads for things they have only spoken about, not search for on their browsers. Luckily, there are ways to stop your devices from eavesdropping on you.
Whispering (marketing) campaigns
When you think about it, smartphones are equipped with an arsenal of monitoring equipment: multiple microphones and cameras are designed to absorb audio and video. While these tools may be useful for creating media, they are also a goldmine for advertisers.
In mid-2018, a reporter for Vice experimented to see just how closely smartphones listen to our conversations. To test his phone, the journalist spoke preselected phrases twice a day for five days in a row. Meanwhile, he monitored his Facebook feed to see if any changes occurred.
Sure enough, the changes seemed to arrive overnight. One of his test phrases involved going “back to university,” and by the next morning, the reporter saw ads for summer courses. He then changed up his test phrase to “cheap shirts” and quickly saw advertisements for low-cost apparel on his Facebook feed.
This report triggered a wave of studies on the surveillance effects of social media platforms.
While not every study provided clear answers, a general sense of agreement on the matter was reached due to hints in the User Agreements of several apps and social media platforms. Tap or click for an easy way to spot what’s hiding in the User Agreement of your favorite platforms.
These user agreements explicitly state recorded audio may be used for targeted advertising purposes. Interestingly, such practices aren’t against the law. This action allows tech companies to push privacy boundaries even further to encourage us to buy things we don’t need.

What can I do about being spied on?
If you’re not comfortable with targeted ads, there are ways to mitigate your smartphone’s spy power. That said, you may lose access to some handy features like wake words and voice assistants, so you’ll have to decide whether these features are worth sacrificing your privacy.
The biggest vulnerability comes from the “always-on” feature of most voice assistants. To pick up wake words like “Hey Siri,” the mic needs to remain on at all times – which means your phone is always listening.
The best place to start taking your privacy back is by turning off the “always-on” microphone features on your handset. Here’s how to do it:
Deactivate “Hey Siri”
Apple has come under fire for transcribing audio recordings of Siri users. The data is locally stored on your device and is uploaded once Siri is activated, so disabling this feature will at least make your Siri inputs shorter and more specific to your requests.
To turn off “Hey Siri,” navigate to your iOS device’s Settings, followed by Siri & Search. Then, toggle Listen for “Hey Siri” to Off.
Disable “OK Google”
Every time you use “OK Google,” or use another voice-controlled function, your query is recorded, and the transcripts are saved to your Google account. Tap or click here to learn how to remove these recordings and other info you don’t want Google to store.
If you use Google Assistant on Android, open the Google Assistant Settings. Say, “OK Google” or hold down the phone’s home button, then tap the file drawer icon found on the upper right-hand corner, and tap the three-dot menu. Select More and choose Settings.
From this point, you’ll want to scroll down to the devices category and select your phone, then in the Google Assistant section near the top, tap the blue slider button to change it gray, which turns off Google Assistant.
Disable mic access for apps
Disabling the always-on microphone features from your phone isn’t enough for some apps like Facebook. The social site makes exceptions to the rule and will keep on listening unless you make the change.
This is just one of the many privacy settings you really should be using if you have a Facebook account. Tap or click for more ways to lock down your profile.
Here’s how you can turn audio recording off for Facebook, but the same steps apply for any app that uses the microphone:
iPhone
Go to Settings >> Facebook >> Settings in the sub-menu. Slide the Microphone switch to the left, so it turns from green to white. That turns it off. Alternatively, you can go to Settings >> Privacy >> Microphone then look for Facebook to do the same. Note that you can toggle the mic on and off for other apps, too.

Open Settings, then choose Applications and Application Manager. Look for Facebook, and tap App Permissions, then toggle the microphone off.
Keep in mind, turning off Facebook’s microphone access will affect and disable certain features like Live Video. If you’re going to use these features, you will have to toggle the mic back on. Follow the same steps above, but make sure the toggle is set to On, and you’ll be good to go.

Amazon has previously come under fire for violating the privacy of its users with Alexa. The famous voice assistant was revealed to be recording users’ inquiries and storing the recordings for human reviewers to analyze. The exposure caused Amazon to make several drastic changes to its products and privacy policy.

Friday Thoughts: Speedy Speed Style
Hey friends! It’s time to pop back in with a speed style Friday Thoughts post because I have so many crazy things to talk to you about. And also, these posts are my favorite. And also, you guys are AWESOME. Your comments on these posts are golden. I come back to them over and over when I need some ideas (and laughs).
Today I’m going through a bullet list of things that have been on my mind. It’s kind of a lot. But don’t be scared. AND DO NOT LEAVE ME HANGING. I need some help and advice and friendship and support and chocolate. So answer all my questions, dang it. 🙂 Especially #7. Thanks.
You can catch all past Friday Thoughts posts here.
1. Glasses Thoughts: I ordered my first-ever pair of glasses online at Zenni Optical (unsponsored, not affiliated with them in the least) after hearing how inexpensive it could be. I was scared (my prescription is pretty gnarly with a really high astigmatism). I had to measure my pupillary distance (gulp). I succeeded (awkward miracle). I have wanted a pair of clear-ish frames for a while and love them so much. I’ve never received so many compliments on glasses before. You can see them in these IGTV videos. Here’s the link to the frames I ordered.
2. How to Teach Kids to Read Thoughts: my days of teaching kids, at least my own kids, to read are past (and it makes me kind of sad). With all five of my kids, I used this old school, simple, no frills book to teach them to read – aff. link. They are all varying levels and strengths of readers, but I can solidly say that this book gave each of them a really strong foundation for basic principles. It’s not exciting and colorful (I often bribed them with M&Ms to get through the first lessons until the pictures start appearing with the stories), but I love this book and am grateful I had it to teach my kids (they each started using it at different ages based on their individual personalities and learning styles, but it was anywhere from 4-6 years old for each of them). Anybody else used this book?
3. Bum Bum Cream Thoughts: Yes, you heard me right. Bum Bum Cream. (Heads up, lots of bikini-clad women on the website – you can also find it here on Amazon– aff. link) This stuff is magical and wow, it has a cult following. I’m sure I’m the last person on earth to know about it. And despite the name, it’s not really for your bum bum. At least I don’t think so. Ha. I use it as my go-to hand cream (along with this Capri blue lotion – aff. link). I’ve never had lotion that smelled so good. Like, people have actually come up to sniff me when I’m wearing it…which has made me think swiftly about discontinuing use, personal space issue alert, but I can’t because I love it. It’s soft and smooth and not greasy and perfect.
4. Signature Recipe Thoughts: I’ve been known to wax poetic about the value of having a signature recipe and how empowering that can be. A recipe that people know you by. A recipe people request and talk about. A recipe that basically makes you feel like a rock star. Not only is it kind of fun, but it also becomes a back-pocket recipe. Something you don’t even have to think twice about when you make it because it turns out perfect every time, and it can become a really easy go-to recipe to take anytime you need a stellar ________ (fill in the blank) recipe for that certain event or potluck or whatever. Plus before you know it, people will be saying things like “I really hope she brings her famous horseradish carrot jello salad tonight!” except of course I really hope no one actually has a horseradish carrot jello salad as their signature recipe.
I LOVE asking people what their signature recipe is. So here goes. What’s your signature recipe?? I think I have different signature recipes depending on the occasion, but one of them is definitely these super soft chocolate chip cookies and I make this fluffier than fluffy bread all the time to take to new neighbors/church members and peeps who just need a little thinking-of-you-here’s-a-loaf-of-bread-don’t-feel-guilty-about-eating-the-whole-loaf kind of pick me up. I also say it’s perfectly ok for your signature recipe to change over time (or every day).
5. Movie Thoughts: recently my two younger kids (ages 7 and 10) and I stumbled on this Miniscule: Valley of the Lost Ants movie, and holy cow, it was entertaining. I didn’t read anything about it before we started watching so I was slightly alarmed/bemused when I realized there was no talking in the movie at all, but my kids did not even notice. It was creative and funny and highly captivating. Also, I just watched the Hundred Foot Journey movie and quite liked it! I mean, yes, because it’s about food, but I enjoyed the personalities and story line (even though there was just one part that I can’t mention because of spoilers that had me side-eyeing the believability). Have you watched either of these?
6. Sunscreen Thoughts: I’m actually gearing up to do an updated suncare/sunscreen post related to my skin cancer and some updated products I’m using and things I’m doing to protect my skin and my family’s skin. But. I had to tell you about this supergoop unseen sunscreen that has completely rocked my world. It.is.amazing. I’ve been using it every day on my face (finding the right facial sunscreen is SO hard especially with an spf 40). It has the most interesting, lovely matte texture that feels like a primer (and I love it). Honestly, it’s one of those products I’m totally scared will ever be discontinued because it’s become such a huge part of my skincare regime.
7. Photo/Video Storage Thoughts: Ok, I’m almost done, but I just have a super big question for you. How do you store your personal/family digital photos and videos long term? On a cloud service? External hard drives? CDs? Haha, mostly kidding with that last one (ahem, says the one who has a bunch of cds stuffed with family pictures from the early 2000’s sitting in a closet somewhere). I’ve used external hard drives as a backup for our family photos/videos forever, but based on the fact that they can fail and/or a natural disaster could wipe them out, I think I need to explore a cloud service. However, the daunting task of uploading 17 years worth of digital pictures with subpar internet speeds has me holding back (as in, it would take years to upload them all). Am I missing another obvious solution? Help? Advice? Chocolate? Send it all.
That was a lot! Sorry for the brain dump! So much for “speed style” haha. If you made it to the end, just know I love your guts and am virtually sending you high fives and lots of cookies. Love your guts!
Oh wait, there’s more!
Friday Thoughts Update: After the last Friday Thoughts post and your significant alarm at my game closet, a much-needed intervention took place. Behold the before and after. I’m actually happy (and completely and utterly shocked) to say that two months later, it still *mostly* looks like the new and improved version. Storing games on their sides is brilliant; thanks to the many readers who suggested that.
