Hey y'all, I'm making this post as a way to introduce myself.

You can call me Altair but because of some personal lore reasons I happily answer also to be called Ferruccio.

I'm 23 and my pronoums are He/Him

I have the particular background of being a Reddit refugee that however came here during around the fall of Twitter.

I like basically anything: I'm a guy of omnivorous tastes, almost omnicomprehensive. If I were to give a top 5 there would be in random order: martial arts, any kind of art or science (but if I had to choose: music and biology), weight-lifting and working out in general, philosophy and mangas.

I'm usually torn between me liking a lot of stuff and wanting to do and experience everything and my everlasting tiredness.

My only dream is to live a good Life.

Introduction: Teddy Bear Cannibal Massacre

Ok. So since I'm already doing Cheever and The Book of Job, this might seem like a bit too much. But I'm down to four clients and my work is finished until Thursday and while I have other things to do (edit the next Dybbuk Press book, work on this short story, upload a document for my SNAP paperwork, etc.), today I feel like going to bed early so I can wake up early and see if I can get tickets to The Music Man because a friend wants to see it.

So I'm going to put that stuff on hold and go with one more thing for these laconic January weeks and start reading and reviewing the first book I ever published.

I am planning on doing a Substack series on publishing books as an independent press (or small press or micro press) including some of the pitfalls and the personality clashes that can be avoided. They really can.

So a few things

Unlike the Stories of John Cheever, I won't review a story with "What the Fuck is this shit?" because I paid for these stories. I accepted these stories. I did a lot of editing on these stories. I know the authors. I like the authors. For the most part. I don't want the authors to find out that some editor that bought a story from them almost 20 years ago (yikes) is talking shit about them now.

There was a lot of drama in the making of this book. I was relatively young. I was immature. I didn't know what I was doing. There was miscommunication (including thinking that I was partnering with a friend who had a publishing company to do a project with him and he thinking that I was using his publishing company for my stuff on the stipulation that I stick his girlfriend's vampire story in the thing. Yeah that's the only one. You can find more tales of that drama when I finally start Substack and you can find the rough drafts when I was still angry at everyone at https://marlowe1.dreamwidth.org/ but you'd have to go back a long time and I'm not helping you find it.

I'm reviewing every book I read this year at https://marlowe1.dreamwidth.org/ because yeah, I can't quit the livejournal world even as livejournal was invaded by Putin's ego long before he invaded Ukraine and the U.S. elections.

Beyond that, the book is short. I should have it finished by the end of the month. Hell, by the end of the month I might have the Stories of John Cheever finished and I'll be off to Les Miserables which was the original notion I had for this thing.

Finally, there are a lot of Amazon reviews saying that this is a piece of shit. Some legitimately hate the book while others are written by people who just don't like me. I don't really have an opinion on them, beyond meh. This isn't the first book that I would offer up if I wanted to show people that I was an editor. It's not the one that was a passion project. It was the one that I wanted to publish so I could stick a story that I wrote in it because I was frustrated about no one buying my stories.

I suppose I could talk about my failed story. I never did sell that thing.

For just a moment the agir’s light revealed the bandit. She had dark hair, wide cheekbones, and wore a coat similar to wildlander horsemen's who often raided Imperial caravans. As soon as the light was gone, Asyana felt a horrible feeling in his right palm and dropped the dagger immediately. There was an arrow. There was an arrow lodged into his hand.

Yala always works alone. She knows she can rely on her skills and many years of experience as a mercenary. She only needs her bow and arrows, and perhaps her horse.

She doesn't seem to like people very much and others usually feel the same way about her. For how long can she actually work together with the people life (or well... the author) has thrown right into her path?

Family/Childhood: Born at Flacon Nest to Ul'dah merchant and Elezen from High House of Ishgard, She gone against the will fo her family to marry the merchant. The war with dragons was raging on and one his village was attacked. During this his mother when was pregnant with him got injuried and few drops of dragon blood fallen on her. She didn't turn. All was absorbed by the baby. When Nava was born his eyes was white, at first they thought he was born blind but it was not. When he was 5 the horns started to slowly show up. At first they tried to hide them under bandanas, hats ect, but they still growing. Cutting them ended up causing alot of pain, because they had veins. Somebody from the village contacted the Ishgardian Inqusition to investigate probally the dragon spawn. They wanted to to Nava away and kill him or something. Parents was acused of heresy but they get the option to repent the sins. Nava before was taking away he just escape the village and thanks to merchant wo was on the way to Limsa he hide himself in one of thier boxes. At Limsa he become street thief. Probally meet Thranced once or twice before he was took by Archon Louisoix. Nava other hand was took by Thief Gulid. This is where meet Jacke Swallow, the future Capitan Jacke of Rogue's Gulid. With him created this gulid and Nava become one of the more fierce member. Taking out more scummy people than normaly. Not before tet more info if there is bigger fish to take out... Years go by, he tried to help people as he could during Calamity. It was hard, there are so many things that happend that time... With Gulid they helped with rebuilding Limsa and areas that was affected. This is when Nava started to think about traveling, to try new things, be at new places, meet new people. He decided to be adventurer, but still hoding Code to his heart and helping when needed.

Quirks:

Great as coinkeeper for gulid.

Always having pair of daggers if magic not gonna work

He is cruel, if somebody hurt people dear to Nava, he will not be gentle.

Finally when finished his studies and became a full titled scholar, he began to prepare for the journey. To unravel the mystery of his parents and what they found.

When lost in thoughts he walks, and doesn't look where. That show he learned how to swim

Don’t need a book to cast, he only needs some ink and surface to write, but books are handy

Even with perfect memory he always has the book with notes and checks lots of times.

Main character #3 - The Protector

The raiders were getting back in formation, watching the ground, expecting more traps. They raised their bows and aimed at the villagers. "Shield!" Sigey shouted. The villagers reacted just in time to block the arrows, but one of them still cried out in pain. Sigey pointed out the new targets and this time he heard a villager's aggressive cheer as a javelin pierced the raider's chest.

Sigey is an unusually tall warrior, blessed and cursed with a truly strong man's shape. Never in his adult life was he mistaken for someone who couldn't defend himself. This can sometimes help him avoid conflict, but attracts trouble just as often.

He wanders the Wildlands, helping out fellow wildfolk. Not for personal gain, but out of a sense of community - which often raises suspicion in people who are not used to selfless behavior. But when everything goes up in falmes around him, can he save everyone he aims to, or will his generosity simply tear him apart?
